Memories on the Dance Floor

It was a truly magical night at Canterlot High as the spring formal had arrived. Here it was your senior year and this was the first one you had attended. It always bothered you that almost everyone had a date and you didn't in the past but this time around, things were different. This time you had a date, the girl you had had a crush on ever since you met her two years ago when you started school there.

You felt a surge of pure happiness while you and Fluttershy were out on the dance floor, dancing close and gazing into one another's eyes. The song that was playing was a very slow, very long incredibly romantic one. It was one of those types of songs you wished would last forever, one that would cause your dance with your crush to never end.

As the song continued to play and you were gazing into those beautiful blue eyes, so many thoughts and memories began to run through your mind. You began to have memories of everything that had caused you to develop a crush on her in the first place. You remembered that first day when you started school in Canterlot and how there was only one person who approached you when you looked so lost and had no clue where anything was. You remember that cute smile Fluttershy gave you when she showed you where your first class would be.

One of the things you remembered was how despite her being incredibly shy, she was always the one to talk to you. You weren't sure if it was because she had a feeling that you were more shy than she was or if was simply in her nature to help those who looked like they needed someone there for them. Back then and even now still, you didn't care what her motives were back at the time, it was her caring nature that caused you to develop a crush on her.

Despite getting to know your way around and not being as anxious around everyone, sometimes you would still pretend to be a bit lost so the girl you had grown to like so much would come to your aid. You remembered how she would always giggle when you would intentionally make a wrong turn and bump into the wall. Other students would sometimes laugh but you knew that she wasn't laughing at you, you figured it was her way of saying, "It's ok, I'm here for you."

Then the memories of volunteering at the local animal shelter crossed your mind. You remembered that at the time you weren't exactly fond of the idea of volunteering your time but figured if it meant getting to be around Fluttershy, it would be well worth it. You then remembered that day when you were feeding the cats and how when you went to reach for some cat food to give to a black kitten, Fluttershy grabbed your hand. You remembered how nice and cool her hands were, just as her hands were just earlier when she led you out onto the dance floor.

The memories continued to flood in as you remembered how whenever you two were in the same class and the teachers assigned group projects that she would team up with you because she felt she could relate with you given your shy nature. You remembered how the two of you would often work on those projects in the library and how on multiple occasions, you two would go to reach for the same object and she would grab your hand. The thing you really remembered was how it was just a couple weeks ago that happened and rather than it being a quick release, she held onto your hand for a good ten seconds before letting go.

All the memories that continued to flood back made you wonder all the more about what was running through her mind and whether or not she may like you. You remembered how at the beginning of the year when you two were signing up for classes, she asked you what you were taking. You remembered how happy you were when with the exception of auto shop, she took all the same classes as you. You were never the type to assume anything because you believed it was bad karma but that was when you truly began to wonder if she had feelings for you.

You also remembered how she even went as far as picking a locker right next to yours instead of one that was next to a friend of hers. At that moment you remember wanting so badly to ask her if she liked you but of course your shy, timid side would once again win out. You remembered how every day you wanted to ask her if she liked you but you just couldn't bring your self to do it.

The last thing that came to your mind was just last week when out of the blue Fluttershy approached you after physics class in a very nervous state. You remember her being flustered at first but then asking you if you wanted to go to the spring formal just as friends. You remember being disappointed that it wasn't as more but you agreed because it meant you'd at least get to be with Fluttershy on what is, for some, the most magical night of the school year.

You finally snapped back to reality when you felt what felt warm air gently blowing on your face. You could hardly believe it when Fluttershy was moving in for a kiss. Naturally you did not want her to think that you didn't want it so you too moved in slowly for the kiss. When your lips met those of Fluttershy's, it was like you had just won the Stanley Cup, the World Series and the Super Bowl all rolled into one. Fluttershy put her hands behind your head and forced your face deeper into hers. Again you didn't want her to think you didn't want the kiss so you did the same with her.

The kiss was not a passionate, open mouthed one but still, it was truly magical to you. When she broke it, she grabbed you by the hand and asked, "Can we talk?"

"Yes, we can." you replied.

Fluttershy grabbed you by the hand and led you over into a corner as a more fast paced song had begun to play. You couldn't help but wonder what she was going to ask but given that she had just pulled you into a kiss in front of everyone, you knew that it certainly couldn't be anything bad.

Once she had led you into the corner she began to become flustered, so flustered that she could hardly speak. It reminded you so much of how you were with her the very first time you interacted with her, the day she led you to your first class. You reassured her, "It's ok, you can tell me anything."

She gave you a smile and after a moment of nervous breathing she simply blurted out, "Would you be my boyfriend?"

You could hardly believe your ears. Yes Fluttershy had just kissed you on the dance floor but that was still completely unexpected. One thing you did know is that you had best hurry up and give her the obvious answer before she thought you may not want to. "Yes!" you replied, "I'd love to be your boyfriend!"

Fluttershy let out a cheer before pulling you into a bear hug and crying tears of joy. She was crying so hard she was shaking and her tears brought you to tears. You were not sure what Fluttershy's plans were for after graduation. Despite having got accepted to the local automotive school, you vowed to yourself that where ever your girlfriend went, you would go with her and be by her side. Yes your dream job was to be a mechanic but finally, after nearly three years of crushing on Fluttershy, you and her were finally a couple and you weren't about to do anything to jeopardize that.
