The only source of light was a tiny, dirty window in the corner near the ceiling. The sun’s dying rays struggled to pierce through the thick layer of grime. It appeared to be evening, but she wasn’t sure anymore. Minutes ticked by without a sound to be heard but her own breathing and the quiet buzzing of flies. She was chained to the wall with thick metal straps, leaving her unable to move at all. A small black ring encased her horn, preventing her from using any magic. Twilight started to hyperventilate. She could hardly breathe, her anxiety peaking. The stench of sweat and mold was repulsive, only adding to her discomfort. The tiny and decrepit prison had been her home for six days now, with her captor only providing minimal food and water to subsist on. There was no hope, no plan for escape. For the first time in her life, her normally clever and intuitive mind was at a loss for what to do. She lowered her head in deep thought, taking a moment to recall everything that had happened. What initially started as a cozy night at home ended up being the most terrifying night of her life… She was merely studying in her bedroom, paging through books on advanced magic. Spike and Starlight Glimmer were out of town on a trip to Manehatten, leaving her with some alone time to focus on research. It only took a moment for everything to change. The event was a surreal blur in her mind. She remembered seeing a huge flash in her peripheral vision as a horned shadow appeared, then being hit by a powerful spell that knocked her to the ground, causing her to become dizzy. Her head ached, and she stumbled around. Another spell quickly followed, zapping her body and teleporting her away to a different location as she passed out. The last thing she remembered was waking up all alone in this very cell. Alone that is, until her captor arrived… She sighed dejectedly. It already felt like a lifetime ago… Not even a week had passed since being brought here, but she already wanted to give up. The long stretches of complete isolation wore at her mind, only broken up by an occasional visit, which usually consisted of complete and utter violation of her body. She really didn’t want to think about it anymore. Twilight heard the shuffling of hooves, and quickly snapped back to her senses. Creeping into the opposite end of the small prison, she could see the shadow of a large figure approaching. But even in the dim light, she already knew who it was. Only one pony had ever entered this room in her time trapped here. Oh no… She shuddered in fear. The nervous princess stared forward as the tyrant slowly walked up to the wall she was bound to with metal braces. His piercing eyes showed no mercy, leaving Twilight feeling uptight every time they made eye contact. She swallowed weakly. “What do you want from me now?” Twilight asked softly, trying not to provoke him. King Sombra raised his head and chuckled pretentiously, then put his hoof on her shoulder assertively. He began to speak in his usual deep and commanding voice. “I’m feeling very pent up tonight, and as my slave in training, you are going to give me the pleasure I crave…” He grinned lasciviously. Twilight could see his large shaft poking out from under his belly at full mast, oozing with precum. She gritted her teeth and flinched. I don’t know how much more of this I can take… The next day at Canterlot palace, Princess Celestia was eating lunch at the dining room table when Princess Luna burst into the room, throwing open the doors in a panic. “Sister! I must speak with you now. It is urgent! Twilight Sparkle has gone missing!” Celestia froze mid-bite, a look of uncertainty on her face as though she couldn’t process those words. “Are you sure she isn’t hiding away in her room studying? You know how she can still be extremely reclusive sometimes.” Princess Luna facehoofed. “This is not a joking matter, sister. I hath spoken to Twilight’s friends, and they insist she is nowhere to be found!” Celestia sat up straight, taking on a more serious tone. “Are there any clues as to where she’s gone off to?” Luna looked down dejectedly. “Unfortunately, there are none. We don’t know where she went, or why. Rainbow Dash has performed a complete flyover of the entire area and still found no signs of her.” Celestia looked worried. “Are you sure she wasn’t taken?” Luna rolled her eyes at the idea, and started to pace around in deep thought. “Twilight Sparkle is one of the most powerful beings in Equestria, apart from us. An abduction is not very probable.” Celestia didn’t seem completely convinced. “But why else would she leave without informing anypony? That isn’t like her at all. We have to consider all the possibilities. But regardless of what happened, we must start searching as soon as possible.” Luna nodded in acknowledgement. “Agreed. We have no time to waste!” “Please… Aghh… Stop…” She whimpered quietly. Twilight’s plea was brazenly ignored, met only by a throaty grunt of pleasure. Her breathing became shakier as the vile king pushed inside even harder, testing the limits of her much smaller body. “Aww; what’s the matter? Are you not enjoying yourself?” His unending condescension was incredibly grating. Twilight closed her eyes, trying to ignore the pain and wishing for it to come to an end. There was no passion in the way he thrusted, only lust and depravity. “It’s ok Twilight; adjusting to your new life takes time. You’ll come to your senses and learn to embrace it soon enough...” The heinous act continued uninterrupted until completion. Twilight was grateful she was facing away from him, so he could not see her begin to cry. By the time he was done using her, the broken mare was absolutely exhausted. Sombra used his magic to lift up her abused body and locked Twilight up against the wall, pulling the metal clamps over her shaking legs and chaining her back in place for another fearful night of solitude. He left without saying a word, only adding to the tension. In the darkness of the cold cell, Twilight sighed in relief. It was late, and she was tired. Sleep… Sleep was her only respite from the madness. Despite everything Sombra did, the king never entered her cell in the middle of the night. The thought helped to comfort her aching mind. She closed her eyes, her mouth curling into a slight smile. The search had been unsuccessful. Celestia and Luna were becoming extremely tired after flying around the area for hours, scanning every nook and cranny of Ponyville along with the surrounding properties. Eventually they landed, feeling anxious and frazzled. “Luna, this is serious. We need to think of another plan. I won’t be able to sleep tonight knowing she’s still out there and possibly in danger…” The midnight blue sister noticed how weary Celestia looked, and took on an assertive stance. “If we cannot find her in the physical realm, I will search for her in the realm of dreams. Go, sister. You need some rest. I will continue the search on my own.” Celestia smiled graciously. “I cannot thank you enough… Please be safe, Luna.” “I will.” She nodded reassuringly. Celestia quickly took off and flew back to Canterlot to get some much needed rest. The dream realm was fairly active tonight. Princess Luna wandered through the fantasies and nightmares of every pony in Equestria, carefully scanning for any signs of Twilight’s dreams. Although there were hundreds of entry bubbles leading to other ponies, she was very quick and focused as she searched for the purple alicorn. It did not take long, and she reached Twilight’s dream bubble within a few minutes. Luna quickly entered inside the aural passageway. The world around her began to morph into a familiar patch of grassland outside Sweet Apple acres. To her surprise, the scene she encountered was relaxed and peaceful. Twilight was lying in the field next to a tree with her friends, having a picnic and basking in the sun’s warm rays as they chatted amongst each other. “What a fun picnic! We should do this more often!” Pinkie Pie jumped ecstatically. “Any pony else want some of Granny’s fresh baked apple fritters?” Applejack asked. “Heck yeah!” Rainbow answered, swooping in and scooping up an arm full of the pastries, before eagerly chowing them down. Luna smiled. They were all together, and seemed so happy. She didn’t want to interrupt the dream, but it was crucial to do so if it meant figuring out her location in real life. She approached slowly. “Twilight?” The content mare looked up, and her eyes shot open in shock. “Luna!?” There was a long silence. Twilight was beaming with happiness. “I’ve never been so happy to see you!” Twilight left her friends behind and ran towards Luna, embracing her in a massive hug. The elder goddess briefly returned the affection, but soon let go, as she had many questions racing through her mind. “I don’t understand... You have disappeared in real life, but your dream is incredibly peaceful and lacking danger. Where did you go? What has happened to you?” Twilight’s smile quickly faded, and she looked down at the ground with pursed lips. A nearby flower instantly shriveled up and died. Luna felt confused. There was a long, awkward pause. “My apologies; did I say something upsetting? Twilight sighed. “No, it’s just that… I’m trying to avoid thinking about what’s really going on… My dreams are my only escape from the prison I’m being kept in.” The air pressure dropped. Suddenly, her tranquil, serene fantasy began to go haywire. Her friends all evaporated into thin air. The color of the sky shifted to black and red, and visions of cracked prison walls began to form around them, replacing the few bright trees. The color drained from the landscape, and the air became cold. It was starting to look more like a dungeon with each passing second. Luna went wide eyed, suddenly realizing what was happening. “Twilight, I am so sorry for resurfacing your thoughts of the physical realm! Please forgive me.” She smiled meekly. “No, don’t be. It’s just a dream. At least, for now it is, until I wake up again…” She trailed off. They both stopped when a loud, deep laugh echoed around the now gray field. Twilight looked worried. “There’s not much time to explain. I’ve been kidnapped by Sombra-” She was interrupted by thunder cracking across the sky. “He’s been holding me hostage in a prison cell beneath his castle-” The evil laughing became louder, and the temperature dropped even more. “And he’s doing terrible things to me, trying to wear me down until I’m nothing but a broken slave! Please, Luna. I need your help! You’re the only one who can save me!” Twilight started to cry. Luna quickly gave her one more hug. “Don’t worry. I will find you and put a stop to this madness!” Luna flared her wings and took off, exiting the dream realm in a hurry. There was a long way to travel to reach Sombra’s castle, and she needed to be quick. It was still the dead of night, and nopony would be awake to help her. Despite the danger, she lifted off into the dark sky. “I’m coming, Twilight!” It was now morning. Once again chained to the wall and faced with Sombra approaching, Twilight started to breathe heavily. The thought of Luna visiting last night gave her hope, but it could still be hours before she arrived. The torture was not over yet. The king cocked his head, staring at her with a vicious gaze. “Good morning, Twilight...” He sneered. She gulped. His tone was not friendly at all. “Good morning, Sombra…” She squeaked. He grunted, sounding irritated. “I’m in a particularly bad mood right now, so let’s not waste any time...” He leaned forward, and pressed his tongue against her ear. “You have been resisting me for far too long, my dear. I’m losing patience… Now, are you ready to surrender your free will to me so I can unchain you, or do we need to keep going?” Twilight nearly froze. She couldn’t breathe. “I-I’m not letting you c-control me…” She stammered. Sombra laughed under his breath. “Have you forgotten how much dark magic I possess? You haven’t experienced a third of what I can do to you. Now… We have plenty of time today, so let’s set something straight, shall we?” Sombra backed up several feet, charged his horn and fired a powerful spell at Twilight’s chest. It exploded like a firecracker, sending huge sparks all over her body and leaving scattered red burn marks that singed her fur. “AGH!” She yelped in pain. He fired another spell, sending out a pulsing shockwave that hammered against her body and rattled her insides like a vicious tidal wave of stinging magic. Twilight screamed, feeling like she had just been hit by a moving train. Sombra approached her again, and put his horn right up to her forehead. He spoke slowly, with animosity in his voice. “My original plan was to slowly erode your spirit, until you became compliant enough to be my slave through traditional means. But since you refuse to listen, it looks like I’ll have to speed up the process...” His mouth curled into a psychotic grin. Sombra leaned forward and tapped his horn against Twilight’s, channeling his crimson red magic into it. The terrified princess shuddered, as his horn sent a burning sensation though her entire body from the inside. The black ring on her horn prevented her from using her own magic to fight back. Sombra increased the strength of his ministrations. “Nothing can stop me from getting my way!” Sombra’s horn flashed brightly. Dark tendrils shot out, connecting with Twilight’s horn and threading their way into her head. “Gahh! Ennngg...” Twilight huffed and screeched, beginning to sweat. Her hooves began to grow more hair, and her mane started to change from lavender to various shades of red. “W-what’s happening to me?!” She cried. Her limbs morphed slightly, making her appear much more beastly and corrupt. “You are transforming; evolving into something much greater than your normal self!” Twilight felt like she was having heart palpitations. Everything burned, and she couldn’t help but cry as her own form was modified against her will. Sombra’s magic morphed her body and seeped into her mind, trying relentlessly to change everything inside her. By the time her transformation was completed, Twilight was stunned. Her heart felt cold, and her mind was under a shroud of fog, skewing her senses, though not enough to prevent her normal though processes from functioning. “How do you feel, slave? Are you ready to accept me as your master?” Twilight blinked slowly. “Never…” She scowled. Sombra took a step back, his face full of shock and confusion. “I don’t understand… How can you resist such a powerful spell?” Twilight cackled, looking at him with contempt. “You can change my body, but my mind is stronger than that.” Sombra began to lose his cool. His eyes glowed red with anger, trails of destructive aura wrapping around Twilight’s transformed body and electrifying her. Twilight screamed in pain, her mind casting doubts if defying him was the right decision. Sombra was depraved and ruthless, tormenting every nerve in her body. But somewhere deep down, she could sense a magical signal. Somepony was approaching, and it gave her strength to suppress the pain. “No pony has ever resisted with such finality… What’s your secret to such resilience?” Sombra barked. He angrily lunged forward and bit down into her leg, scrapping his teeth and lapping up her blood before withdrawing. “AUGH!” Twilight screeched in pain, but still stared at him with total defiance, tears dripping from her now bloodshot eyes. “Unlike you, I have friends who care about me. I’m not alone, Sombra...” The cruel king’s eyes widened, as he suddenly detected a body of energy moving closer. *CRASH!* Shattered glass flew across the connecting hallway. A large dark blue figure swooped down and landed firmly, a mere ten feet behind him. “Let. Her. Go!” A loud voice boomed. Sombra turned around, quickly ceasing his assault on Twilight. “Princess Luna…” He growled, a seething edge of anger in his voice. “How did you know to come here?!” Luna glared daggers back at him. “I am the princess of the night, Sombra. Nothing can stay a secret from me.” Sombra instantly turned to the trapped mare behind him, realizing what she meant. “You two communicated through a dream?! How deceitful. I won’t tolerate such behavior from a slave!” At the mention of Twilight, Luna stepped aside to make eye contact with her. The purple alicorn had burn marks all over her body, and looked rather petrified. Her body appeared to have been morphed slightly, into a more gangly shape with darker colors. They didn’t speak a word, and Luna saw a single tear drip from Twilight’s eye. Luna trembled in anger, and clenched her teeth. The sight of Twilight’s condition was enough to stir up dark feelings she had hoped to never feel again... There was no turning back now. She stepped over to confront Sombra. “What have you done to her?!” She bellowed, commanding an answer. Her voice distorted slightly, taking on a sharp and powerful edge. Sombra scoffed, and started to laugh in his usual arrogant, demonic tone. “I am changing her into something more useful. Twilight belongs to me now, both physically and mentally.” His words made Luna sick, setting off her darkest instincts. The room lit up in a massive burst of blue light, and the Princess rapidly evolved into Nightmare Moon, sending a shockwave of fiery blue energy that shook the walls. Twilight was stunned at the speed and ferociousness of her transformation. Nightmare Moon slammed her hoof on the ground, cracking a hole in the concrete floor. “THOU HAS MADE A GRAVE MISTAKE!” She roared, her voice resounding thunderously through the room. Sombra stood silent, staring down the enraged princess. As the echoes trailed off, the only sound in the cell was the buzzing of her aura. Eventually he chuckled, as though unfazed by the powerful goddess standing before him. “You should never have come here. Now I get to convert two useless ponies at the same time. You may be the goddess of Nightmares, but I will show you what true fear really is!” Sombra’s eyes glowed blazing red, and he growled incredibly loud. But before he could make a move, Nightmare Moon flared her wings and charged her horn, emitting a pulse of energy that sent a rush of air throughout the room. “I am not scared of you, Sombra! You should be scared of me!” Her voice echoed. The magic around her horn morphed into powerful aural tentacles, which she used to snatch up Sombra’s body. She held him up, squeezing him tightly and dragging him closer. Sombra’s pupils grew wide. It was rare for him to feel intimidated, but as he started to sense the amount of power Nightmare Moon was giving off, his whole perception of the situation shifted. The enraged goddess continued her tirade. “I may have been reformed, but I still know how to be cruel when I’m mad. And nothing makes me more furious than seeing my friends being harmed!” The tendrils of magic began to tighten, yet Sombra growled in resistance. “I will not be stopped by a mere princess like you!” He snarled. Before he could blink, Nightmare Moon threw him on the floor, charged up her horn and fired a massive laser beam, hitting Sombra right in the chest and shattering his armor. His body flew across the room, smashing into the concrete wall on the opposite end. She approached him slowly, and with contempt. “I am far more than a mere princess.” She stated coldly. The battered king struggled to pull himself up, unable to get on his feet. Her magic had destroyed his armor and burned his chest. Sombra finally accepted that he was outmatched, but quickly thought of an alternative plan. He began to speak calmly. “Please, princess… Give me another chance.” Nightmare Moon raised an eyebrow, not believing she had heard him correctly. “What?” She questioned tersely, her voice carrying strong disbelief. Sombra looked down at the floor in submission. “I can be reformed, just like you…” The room went completely silent for several seconds. “You’re joking, right?” Sombra kept his head down. “It is no joke, Nightmare Moon… Please, calm yourself and listen to me.” She paused for a moment. Although she did not care to listen, Sombra could barely stand after her initial attacks. The immediate danger was gone, and staying in her current corrupt state longer than necessary could be dangerous. Slowly, Nightmare Moon transformed back into Princess Luna, expelling a wave of magic and hatred from her body until she was back to normal. “Go on.” She retorted. Sombra took a deep breath. “You were banished to the moon and given a second chance, Luna. Do I not deserve equal treatment? How can you not afford others the same chance you were given after your mistakes?” Luna looked at him, lowering her head in shame. Memories of her banishment surfaced in her mind, but she couldn’t let that become a distraction. “Our misdeeds are not comparable, Sombra.” She objected calmly. His mouth curled into a sickly grin. “We are not as different as you think, Luna.” All the while, Twilight watched and listened, but she had a terrible feeling about where this was going. All she knew is that it wasn’t going to end well if Luna left him off the hook. She had no choice but to speak up. “Luna, I know you’re trying to control your anger and be rational, but please... Don’t let him prey on your guilt!” Luna turned around, and got an even closer look at Twilight. It was then that she noticed the dried bodily fluids on the floor below her. Using the light of her horn, she illuminated her body, and noticed even more disturbing details of Twilight’s condition. Small spots of blood stained the walls around her, and her legs were full of bite marks. Luna grit her teeth, turned around and gave Sombra a deadly stare. She knew what needed to be done. A situation like this called for a very specific spell... One she had never hoped to use in her lifetime. “You do not deserve another chance!” She boomed. Luna slowly charged up her horn and began panting, pinpointing her energy to create a small blue orb. However, there was no laser or explosion to be seen. After a lengthy buildup, she simply gasped and released the orb, which hovered towards the king very slowly but accurately. Sombra looked puzzled, not expecting such as small, slow moving spell from such a great expenditure of energy. “What is that?” He asked, looking confused. Luna smirked, almost psychotically. Beads of sweat dripped down her face. “It’s your time, coming to an end. No more!” The small magical bubble touched his chest, slowly ghosting into his body. Sombra instantly froze and went wide eyed. His vision began to fade and his limbs seized up, causing him great distress. He fell over onto the floor, his eyes still wide open but his body paralyzed. The king let out a throaty, desperate gasp. Moments later, his heart stopped beating. Just as soon as the battle had begun, it was already over. Sombra’s body was completely motionless. Luna slowly lowered her head, taking a moment to accept that fact that she had just ended the life of another pony. No matter how cruel they were, it was a painful act to perform. However, she didn’t let the extreme nature of her decision distract her from what was important. Now that the threat was gone, she quickly used her magic to set Twilight free and break the metal bonds holding her in place. Twilight dropped to the ground and stumbled forward, quickly falling into her arms. Luna wrapped her wing around her in a comforting embrace. “Sombra is no more, Twilight. Ending life is something I’ve vowed never to do, but some ponies truly do not deserve a second chance.” Twilight did her best to comfort her in return. “It’s ok, Luna. You did what you had to…” The tired princesses held each other close, taking a moment to appreciate the embrace of one another. Twilight had never felt more relieved. A week of unbearable pain and loneliness had finally come to an end. After a minute, Luna broke the silence. “Come with me back to Canterlot. I will get you a potion to reverse the effects of his magic and heal your body back to normal.” Twilight smiled, tears of joy welling in her eyes. She had nothing but admiration for the blue princess standing in front of her. “Thank you, Luna… You’re a true hero.” Twilight hugged her again, feeling an immense comfort. Her mind drifted, momentarily blocking out all the pain in her body. It was reassuring to know her friends would go through such lengths and danger to save her. It reminded her that she was never alone, no matter how hopeless the situation might seem. Her hug continued for an awkward amount of time; she didn’t want it to end. Luna smiled, but slowly tried to break free from her grip. “Alright, thou can let go of me now…” Twilight quickly released her grip, snapping out of her thoughts. “Oh, right… Sorry.” Twilight let go, and the two mares spread their wings for the long trip back home.
