Chapter 1

It was morning in Ponyville, the sky was gray, sprinkles of raindrops speckled the town, and the air was cool and moist. A cyan pegasus dashed as fast as her wings could take her, leaving behind a rainbow streak. Her thoughts were centered on reaching Fluttershy, because in her mindset, Fluttershy always knew how to solve a problem, well, the kind that dealt with feelings. The rainbow-maned flier knew how to solve her own problems all the time. But sometimes, you just need to rely on a childhood friend for advice in times like this.

Finally, she reached her friend's cottage. Knowing Fluttershy never locked her door and the fact that they were close, Rainbow Dash simply barged in. She walked aroud the home of the shy pegasus, calling her name out, implying that it was an emergency and she needed to talk to her right then.

Suddenly, she heard the sound of a piece of furniture scooting against the wooden floor, then saw the butter yellow Pegasus crawl out from underneath, her bubblegum pink locks hiding her face. Rainbow Dash rolled her rose-colored eyes and shook her cyan head, knowing Fluttershy had probably been hiding from Angel Bunny.

"Rainbow? What brings you to visit? Uhm, not that I don't mind, I was just curious, sorry," the timid yellow pegasus whispered.

"'Shy, you don't know how glad I am to see you, old buddy, old pal, you!" Rainbow replied with fake enthusiasm, and a false smile.

Crossing her fore-legs, Fluttershy narrowed her aquamarine eyes at her oldest friend.

"Rainbow Dash, what trouble have you gotten yourself into this time? The day you decide to prank Rarity, she's on her period? Applejack wanting to murder you for you using non-washable paint on her apples? Twilight wants to dissect you for destroying the binding of the newest Daring Do book?" Fluttershy demanded, her normally whispery voice in a firm tone.

"Fluttershy, you know me too well, pal, but today, I didn't get in a fight with anypony, it's something completely different," Rainbow Dash responded.

"Oh, I see, is this about....Pinkie?" Fluttershy asked in a hardly audible whisper.
Rainbow Dash nodded her head furiously.

"GAH! 'Shy, I really need to tell her, I know I do, and should, but I'm just..." the cyan Pegasi trailed, looking away.

"Afraid of rejection," Fluttershy finshed for her.

"Yeah, exactly. Butt I gotta do it someday, and today's the day to do it," Rainbow Dash sighed.
Fluttershy was doing her very best not to jump up and down and squeal. After spending afternoons with Rarity, and hearing the posh unicorn talk all about her soap operas and romance novels, she had gotten herself into the spirit of being a hopeless romantic. She and Rarity had been talking all about how adorable Rainbow Dash and Pinkie Pie would be together, and the fact they just may be a couple, finally, excited the shy pony.

"Oh my goodness, really? You are? Today? Oh my goodness, oh my goodness!" Fluttershy finally gave in and squealed, while prancing around her living room.

Rainbow Dash, annoyed that she didn't get her pep-talk, and a little bewildered at the pegasus's behavior, flew off silently, leaving the yellow mare skipping, and started her search for Pinkie Pie.

As she soared the skies of Ponyville, Rainbow Dash thought about Pinkie Pie in order to keep any negative thoughts in her head. Has it really been 6 months Rainbow had been holding that feeling within her? She hated feelings, those butterflies in her stomach, the weakening in her knees, the perverted thou-no, no, Fluttershy said she had to embrace these feelings.

In the beginning, Rainbow Dash ignored the fluttering in her stomach whenever she was near her best friend. Or the way she made herself look her best before hanging out with Pinkie. She dismissed these things, no way did Rainbow Dash, coolest pony around, get sappy feelings like that. But then questions entered her mind. Was it possible she had feelings for her best friend? Could it be? It took awhile for Rainbow to accept she had a crush on Pinkie, with the help of Fluttershy of course.

Soon, Rainbow Dash could sense her feelings got stronger. Every hug from the pink pony made her blush. Seeing Pinkie's smile made her heart melt. Whenever the earth pony smiled, the way it was just so full of life, made her weak at the knees. Fluttershy continually suggested she simply confess, but Rainbow Dash couldn't do it.

Rejection and failure was her biggest fear.

As months passed, Rainbow Dash fell hard for Pinkie Pie. It was the pink pony's personality that Dash loved the most. How she could bring a smile to anypony's face, her love of life, how silly and funny she was, her randomness, how she saw the very best in everypony, Dash just simply loved everything about Pinkie.

Looks didn't matter to Rainbow, but she'd be a liar if she said Pinks was an alright-looking pony. It was a fact, Pinkie was gorgeous. Not like Rarity, Pinkie had natural beauty. Her pink curly masses of hair, her sapphire blue eyes, brimmed with thick long lashes, and her beautiful smile, yep, gorgeous. Though Pinkie ate tons of sweets, she had a healthy body, maybe from her morning work-outs. Maybe that's how she was able to keep up with Dash. Nah, Pinkie had ways. Oh, and sweet Celestia, THAT FLANK. It wasn't huge like a [ifat] pony's, or scrawny like...Dash's, but it was perfect. That pony had perfect curves.

Finally, Rainbow spotted Pinkie from above at Sweet Apple Acres.

She swooped down, and landed down on the farm. Her eyes winced at the sight before her.

Pinkie Pie was wearing Applejack's signiture Stetson, giggling as she tried running away from the orange pony, who was chasing her. With a leap, she tackled Pinkie on the ground, and pinned her down. The pink pony was laughing, trying to catch her breath. Applejack licked her lips, sweat brimming on her forehead, and leaned in. Pinkie suddenly stopped laughing, and turned to the side.

"Hiya Dashie!" the pink pony said sweetly, with a wide-set smile.

Applejack's eyes widened with fear. She bit her lip, and allowed herself off the pink pony. Rainbow Dash's eyes were filled with rage and jealousy, her glare set directly on the orange earth pony.

"Dashie! Yay! How'd you know I was here? Oh, wait, you can fly! Omigosh, wanna play tag with me and AJ? It'll be so much fun-" Pinkie Pie was interrupted with her ramblings by Dash covering her mouth with a cyan hoof.

"AJ and I gotta talk, Pinks. I'll take you flying later, alright?" Rainbow promised, her hoof still placed on the pink pony's mouth.

"Mmmf," Pinkie managed to reply, with a nod of her curly head.

Rainbow Dash removed her hoof from Pinkie, and the pink pony trotted away. Dash did a double-take, Pinkie Pie, trotting. She hopped, not trotted. She'd have to ask about that later, for now, AJ needed a little talk.

"So, Applejack, I gotta give ya kudos for that pin-up," Rainbow Dash remarked cooly, leaning against an apple tree.

"W-well, I had ta make a move somehow, RD," Applejack stuttered."Ah mean, ah knew she wouldn't an-"

"Cut the crap AJ, you know I told you I liked her," Rainbow growled.

Applejack gulped, and let out a nervous laugh.

"RD, ah can explain, honest!" the orange pony pleaded.

"Explain then!" Rainbow yelled.

"W-well, ah started likin' Pinks-" Applejack started.

"Don't call her that," the pegaus said, through gritted teeth.

"F-fine. I started likin' Pinkie Pie after ah came back from Con-Junction," the orange mare tried again.

"Why? AJ, you KNEW I loved her! How could you?! I TRUSTED you, Applejack!" Rainbow Dash shouted, eyes wet, from the realization how her best friend could betray her. Applejack, honest AJ, crushing on what she laid eyes on first.

"A-ah can't help mah feelings!" Applejack

"Yeah you can! You, you jerk!" Rainbow Dash stumbled.

"Gawsh, I'm so insulted RD!" Applejack said dramatically, putting a hoof to her forehead as though she was about to faint.

Rainbow Dash growled, knowing herself her insult was lame. Rainbow Dash isn't lame. She was awesome. She had to show, no prove it.

"I say we have another challenge Applesmack," Rainbow smirked, though doubt was afloat in her mind.

Applejack raised her eyebrow, unsure what to make of the challenge the cyan mare had offered her.

"A challenge for Pinkie's heart," Rainbow declared.

"Love ain't no game Dash," Applejack stated with a glare.

"No, it's an obstacle!" the pegasus exclaimed.

Applejack looked down, still confused about this 'game'.

"We're gonna see who gets the girl AJ, that's the point of this challenge,"

"A-ah dunno Rainbow," Applejack said with doubt in her southern voice.

Rainbow Dash brought her cyan hoof to her mouth, spit, and extended it to Applejack, determination set in her face.

Applejack had a sudden spark of enthusiam, and put all her doubts aside. She did the same, and hoof-bumped the pegasus.

Let the games begin.

(AUTHOR'S NOTE:)

Sorry guys for the late update! School started for me, and it's my third year in high school! I felt super awful about being unable to write the second chapter, but tonight, I grabbed some Gatorade (my all-time favorite drink), sat in my computer desk, said "FUCK IT, NO EXCUSES." and wrote this chapter. Yeah, I know this is short, kinda sucky, but I needed to post something. And to get drama on course, and make this series exciting already [cue "GET ON WITH THE SQUIRREL JOKES"]. Comments, and any kind of feedback, or advice is much appreciated! Thanks for reading!
