> Chapter 1 The beginning of our heroes' adventures

It was a quiet night in the city of Canterlot, it was passed the midnight time, just another day like any other day of any other week, not many shops were open and you could barely find anyone out, those who were still in the streets were not that different, some of these people were going back to their houses after a long day of work, others were starting the day with a nightshift, poor souls that had to work with that feeling of tiredness and the desire to sleep just a few more hours. Although you could see someone on the streets most of Canterlot’s citizens, both adults and kids were already in bed.

On one of these lonely street a young woman was just going back home with her groceries, she was humming a happy tune without realizing that the path she was walking was darker than others, not many of the streets’ lights were working but that should not be a problem, that is, of course, until an incredibly loud roar sounded right behind her back, completely frightened the woman just turned back, when she did this she saw a beast, it was green without a precise form, with a colour that changed between green and pure black, the woman wanted to shout but before she could she was sliced into pieces, the beast’s claws had killed her before she could breathe once more. 

The beast then ate the woman’s soul, a small ethereal blue sphere that was what remained, her pure essence, after that the monster was much stronger but also much hungrier as well, the beast wanted more and for their pleasure another woman had just seen what had happened, just as before this poor soul tried to run and escape, the beast began to chase her and the woman was trapped now fearing for her life, then, a shot was heard.

The monster turned around and saw that on top of a building there was a shadow with a revolver on their right hand, the weapon still had steam coming out of it due to the recent shot, the beast quickly understood that the new shadow could be a great threat so it decided that the best thing to do would be to just end them, sure that their soul would be equally delicious. The monster got ready and jumped having the mystic saviour as objective, even though the distance that now separated both was less than 2 meters the shadow didn’t move, they just waited half a second more, then raised their arm and with a powerful shot they ended the beast. 

The saviour wanted to check on the poor woman but she had took the opportunity to run away without looking back, well, right then it did not matter, there were more important things to do like check their actual status, now the revolver had changed her form showing that she was a young girl with puffy curly pink hair, not tall at all [around 1,55m ( 5 feet and 1 inch)], but clearly the mayor characteristic was her gloomy smile and the happiness that she irradiated.



“Come on AJ, why are you sad?”, said the girl with curiosity

“It’s nothing sugar cube, but you know Pinkie, it’s just that maybe we could have saved that girl”, said her colleague AJ, unlike her companion she was sturdy, tall and with a whole bunch of muscles that came from constant work and training.

“But Applejack, you know that we are here to protect people but that we can’t always save everyone, right?”, answered Pinkie starting to worry about her companion’s wellbeing

Looking at Pinkie Applejack got out of her trance and answered trying to try and lift up the team’s spirit “Of cours’ I know, c’mon cousin don’t be sad, pick up the demon’s soul and let’s go back home”

After this Pinkie went back to be her gloomy self, she then went to were the beast had fallen to pick up its soul, unlike the humans’ blue souls this one was red as blood, luckily now that Pinkie, a weapon who was working, was going to eat it, that would be one demon to not worry about. After she ate it you could feel that even if it was not a substantial change, she now had gained a little more power which also meant that Applejack and her were a step closer to their objective.

“I have always asked myself what those things taste like”, said AJ while both started to walk back to their shared apartment.

“Well, it’s like if you eat a dry pastry, it’s bitter but if it could be saltier that would be nice”, said Pinkie as if that definition made any sense.

“Well sugar cube, with tonight’s soul we now have 52 in total, 47 seven more changeling souls, a witch soul and ya’ll be a Death’s weapon, that’s pretty good since we hav’ only been here less than 6 months” replied AJ trying to get her companion and cousin into the mission

“OH, I know silly, we’ll keep saving people and then I’ll be super-duper powerful, you didn’t think that I had forget right?”, Pinkie put a silly face trying to show that she was annoyed, still, she failed  since her cousin knew her pretty well, just after a few seconds of trying to be serious she could not keep her laugh any longer.

“Of course not sugar cube, not even granny forget important things, I wouldn’t expect ya to do so”, AJ was now much animated thanks to Pinkie, her cousin always knew how to make her smile.

“That’s great but wait, what do we have for diner?”, that was a good question now that both thought about it. When going out at the sun set, they didn’t realise at what time they would go back home so they didn’t have time to prepare anything before going out to be heroes.

“Well, we could, umm, I guess we could go and buy something at the minimarket, it’s still open”, the natural response given the situation they were in, frankly not AJ or Pinkie wanted to cook and, overall Pinkie was mostly good when making desserts not actual food.

With a face of decision Pinkie stopped her walking and turned around to look directly at her cousin, she had just had an idea, “I guess that we could do that AJ, or, we could go to Fluttershy’s place, she always makes a bunch of food”  

“Well, it’s true that Fluttershy always say that we can go anytime and she also cooks delicious so ok, sure that Flutters and Rainbow will appreciate the visit”, said AJ with more hunger and tiredness than other thing

“That’s the spirit AJ!”, “Let’s go!”, and that’s how that night’s heroes started to walk towards their friends’ place, but what will Rainbow say about this situation, she sure won’t agree in sharing her food but that’s just Rainbow being herself.

Sure, that tomorrow will be a great day for these and many more heroes in Celestia’s Death Weapon and Meister Academy, we will see

“I swear, I don’t want any of you two to do that again!”, that’s what could be heard at the stairs that got to the Canterlot’s Academy, the DWMA

“Sure” answered an indifferent Applejack

“What did you say?!, I’m being serious AJ, if you want to enter your next goddess home without any previous warning, I will have to make you pay!”, that’s what an angry girl answered

“Of course, sugarcube, I heard ya the first time, and even if I didn’t you don’t need to break my eardrums with your yelling”, said AJ and then added “And, if I’m no wrong Pinkie and I have more souls than Fluttershy and you Rainbow Dash, so if somebody is going to be God that’s us”

“Uh, whatever you say AJ, I know, let’s race ‘till the entrance”, whenever Rainbow didn’t know how to reply she would always propose a race.

Without being surprised by the proposal AJ answered in a calm tone. “Nice try hon’ but you know that ya’re a Pegasus and I’m an Earther, I could never win ya in a race but we could wrestle to see who’s the strongest if ya want”

Thinking about the new proposal Rainbow wasn’t that excited anymore, and it was true, she was a Pegasus which meant that she was lean and really fast, in fact she was even faster than the average and using this she more than once had just jumped to the top of a three-floor building like it wasn’t anything.

Her body was a good prove of it, she had the muscles of a racer, around 1,70 m tall (5 feet 7 inches) and always with a cocky smile on her face that showed how self-confident she was, while most of the other students knew why they shouldn’t mess with Rainbow other didn’t want to get close because of the bolt scar on her left eye. 

So, going back to the new proposal and stopping to think about wrestling with AJ without their weapons just made her got chills, it wasn’t a joke to try and do that with an Earther, the average Earther could break a wall if they concentrated with just a fist punch, Applejack was not the indicated to joke with about raw strength, it’s not like Rainbow was weak but still, it wasn’t a good idea either so she quickly changed the subject.

“Well mortal, I’ll let you go, today I feel merciful”, said Rainbow continuing up the stairs as if nothing had happened.

“Ok Rainbow, ok”, AJ knew in which things she could win and it still was funny to see how Rainbow got frustrated about it, then they both kept going up the stairs.

Several steps below their meisters both weapons were talking happily, clearly not sharing the competitiveness of their meisters, instead they were chatting just as two friends that have not seen each other in a long time.

“Uff, how many steps are left, I can’t keep going anymore”

“Come on Pinkie, we go up these stairs almost every day, and you still have to give Celestia the report about last night’s mission, come on you can do it!”, well, that sure was easier to say that to do, but at least Fluttershy wasn’t being negative for once so that was good.

Pinkie could swear that at moments like these she regretted not training with her cousin, instead she spend days planning and going to a whole bunch of parties, but she couldn’t help it, parties were so much fun and she really loved to make people smile, but she also didn’t liked to let herself or her closest friends down so it’s then when she swore that she was going to go up those stairs, like a boss.

So, it’s then that Pinkie recovered some of her energy and started following Fluttershy, being a few steps behind, Fluttershy looked even taller, she was 1,75 m tall (5 feet 74 inch) and really slim which made her really agile when she had to go on a battle physically (luckily for her that wasn’t very often), and as usual Fluttershy was wearing her typical monk outfit with the only addition of a blue bolt on both sides of her collar, her hair was brushed into a crown braid,  it looked more like she was going to pray and not going to class but she had always been a calm person and having in mind that and that Rainbow and her’s style consisted on being fast and effective it kind of made more sense, Fluttershy’s outfit even showed how different her and Rainbow where, Rainbow always wore a pair of cropped sweatpants with a pair of reforced boots and then a sleeveless shirt with a bolt on the back 

This made Pinkie think, she liked to wear her pink shorts and her sneakers with a dip dyed t shirt and Applejack, well, Applejack was a rodeo girl so the most important thing was to have her Stetson, her usual trousers with her long brown boots and her green and white checkered shirt, and on her hands a pair of gloves, they were really different but still got along pretty well which made Pinkie start to smile and giggle.

That would have been just fine if she hadn’t stared at Fluttershy non-stop while she was thinking, so when Fluttershy saw that she started to laugh she got a little scared so she decided to ask Pinkie what was going on.

“Hey Pinkie, are you okay? You have been staring at me the whole time”

“What? Oh! I’m sorry Fluttershy, I just got lost into my thoughts, everything’s fine” she answered in her normal cheerful state now out of her trance

“That’s ok”

Then the girls got to the end of the “never-ending” stairs where their meisters where talking now in a friendlier way to each other

“Wow, for a moment I thought that you would never get here, maybe you do need a special training session with me eh?”, that was the first thing they heard from Rainbow

“No please! No more training” quickly replied Fluttershy

“It was a joke Fluttershy, calm down”

“Fiuh, I just got scared for a moment”, for her that was like avoiding a bullet

“Well, you and I still need to do our regular training, don’t forget that” replied Rainbow which only set a terror feeling in poor Fluttershy

“Well sugarcubes, let’s go in, we only have around 20 minutes before classes start and Pinkie and I still need to give Celestia the report” Applejack quickly reminded the group why they were there.

“Ok”

“Yujuu, classes”

“Calm down Pinkie, you are going to fall” 

“Hey, what the heck!” shouted Rainbow

“Why are you shouting, you are the one that bumped into me because you didn’t look where you were going” answered a girl that apparently Rainbow had bumped into

The others girls got closer until they were next to Rainbow Dash and saw that the girl, she was shouting to was barely taller than Rainbow, she wore a short checkered skirt with a pair of boots, a long sleeved white shirt with a tie and a long coat that got barely above the beginning of her boots, the girl had her hair completely straight and perfectly brushed, it was a dark blue with two lines of different shades of purple on it. 

The girl looked pretty average but when the other girls looked at the stranger’s face, they all lighted the alarms, what was alarming was that the girl’s upper and lower eyelid had an intense purple colour, it looked like a tattoo but that was what indicated them that the stranger girl was a unicorn, a witch.

The unicorns were those beings that were able to use magic and manipulate some kind of element, they were feared and hated even though the war had ended two generations ago (50 years) when peace between both was established, Celestia proposed that unicorns should get out of their hidden city and see the world, that everything would change, well, most people still weren’t really keen on welcoming them on the school so it’s for that that most unicorns had to be alone or with others of their kind since the unicorns were on their vast majority (around 98%) meisters, most of them didn’t got a companion and couldn’t go on missions.

Seeing who or more likely what Rainbow was talking at Applejack quickly pulled her far from the girl which surprised both.

“C’mon sugarcube, let’s get going and about you, she’s sorry, she just doesn’t know when to shut her mouth” AJ was notably nervous

“Hey, that’s not true, let me go!” Rainbow was going to make AJ pay

“No! And now let’s go!” replied AJ pulling harder at her

“Hey, it’s ok, I get it, you do not want to be close to a potential danger, I understand, oh, my name is Twilight Sparkle by the way” said the girl now introduced as Twilight

When AJ was going to reply another girl got near Twilight in a happy mood, this girl had a skirt, longer than Twilight’s and she had also a long-sleeved shirt with a black vest on top, she was wearing flats as well, and, even though her outfit was black and white it was really stylish, and, this girl just as Twilight had the same marks only that her’s were a light blue

“Oh, hello Twilight darling, I thought that I had lost you for a moment” said the girl and when noticing the rest, she added “Hello there, I’m Rarity, and who are you dears?”

“We’re nobody, and we also were leaving so have a nice day” said Applejack now even more nervous than before wanting to get out of there

“What? But cousin, they must be new, hi! I’m Pinkie Pie, the grumpy girl that wants to leave is my cousin Applejack, that girl that is all shy is Fluttershy and the one you were arguing with is Rainbow Dash” Pinkie quickly answered wanting to make those girls her friends

“Well Pinkie Pie, it’s a truly pleasure to meet you but right now we also have to leave to go to class” said Rarity in an elegant tone

“No, you two are going to stay, you Twilight, just bumped into the next Goddess and now you mortal will pay” Rainbow was truly running out of patience

“Sorry but no, we have classes and I am not going to get a bad mark because you decided that we should fight” Twilight replied and turned around to leave.

“What, are you going to play with your trickies, I don’t care you witch, I can win anybody” Rainbow truly was going to blow

“Well, we still have 10 minutes before classes start, if fighting you will keep you silent then I guess it will be worth it” said Twilight still not interested

“Heck yeah, now Fluttershy, you just stay aside cheering ok?” was Rainbow content answer

“Wait, I thought that we were going to fight with our weapons” now Twilight didn’t exactly know what to think

“Do you have a weapon?”

“Yeah, Rarity is my weapon”

“Well, then this will truly be a spectacle”, “c’mon Fluttershy let’s show these two what we can do!” now Rainbow was even more excited

“Coming!” shouted Fluttershy, well, it sounded as if someone was just speaking normally but for her it was a loud shout 

“You ready Rarity?”

“Of course, darling, let’s show them how to win a fight”

“Well, then, let’s began” were Twilight’s last words before both Rarity and Fluttershy transformed, the battle began but that will be for the next episode

“Come on Rarity” said Twilight now more animated but without showing much emotion in her face

“This is going to be a good practice, here I go!” said Rarity, after that, a pale blue light enveloped her, Twilight put her hand into the light and after that, Rarity finished her transformation, she then falled into Twilight’s hands, and her form was, well, it was peculiar to say something, it was a metal circle, the exterior was pure silver like, and the inside part had a ying yang shaped structure attached to it, this inner part was a pale violet, Twilight easily grabbed the central part where there wasn’t the blade and then got in an attack pose.

Rainbow was kind of speechless, she had seen knifes, swords and all kind of blade weapons but she had never seen a weapon that made her laugh.

“Seriously? Is that your weapon magic girl?! What are you going to do, play frisbee with me until I get tired?” Rainbow now was laughing and shouting how ridiculous Rarity’s weapon form was, then she added something that made Twilight angry, “you know, I guess that it makes sense that someone like her can’t have a decent weapon form but still it’s really funny to see!” 

Then Rainbow turned to her right and told Fluttershy to transform, this time a pale-yellow light enveloped her and then a pair of small scythes connected by around 2 m (6,56 feet) of a chain appeared in Rainbow’s hands.

“You seeing this, this right here is a proper weapon, Fluttershy’s chain scythe form is ten times more intimidating than your frisbee”, Rainbow wanted to keep annoying her enemy and she was getting what she wanted.

“Ok, now shut up and let’s fight, I’ll show you that Rarity is not a frisbee, she is a chakram and a really deadly one” now Twilight decided that she was going to start the attack

At the response she got Rainbow just started to laugh again this time leaning back because of the extreme shout of laughter. Twilight saw this opportunity and decided to attack, she divided both parts of Rarity and throw one in Rainbow’s direction, when the half reached her it just went through her, after that Rainbow’s shape poofed like a cloud, Rarity’s part then started going back to her similar to a boomerang and Twilight started to think where Rainbow could be, in which moment did she moved?, and how could she make it so fast?

When Twilight extended her arm to catch Rarity’s half she just got hit in the back, but how? Then she realised that Rainbow had hit her and when she focused from the floor she could slightly see a blue blur running around her, Rainbow had it planned and Twilight knew that as soon as she got on her feet she would be hit again, she needed a strategy, Twilight took the Rarity’s half that had falled on the floor, she now had one on each hand, one on defensive position and the other on offensive. She got up and tried to be prepared for the strike, she had to do it right at the first try because she wouldn’t have another.  



Rainbow saw that Twilight had got up again so she went towards her to attack once more, Twilight was holding her breath and then she saw Rainbow jumping against her, she lowered her offensive arm and then went with all of her strength to attack at a high point. Rainbow saw this and thanks to her reflexes, that were almost as quick as her legs, she used the situation, threw one of Fluttershy’ s scythes to the floor to gain more height, after this she made a flip in the air and kicked Twilight, this time on her face.

After that Rainbow jumped over Twilight and got far behind her, since she didn’t get hit, she also used the opportunity and threw one of Fluttershy’s scythes to hook one of Twilight’s arms, this made her threw the half of Rarity that she was grabbing but, Twilight wasn’t going to let another of Rainbow’s attacks succeed, she hold her arm still and pulled with all her strength, this made Rainbow shake and decided to just recover Fluttershy’s half and wait to see what Twilight was going to do.

Well, now things certainly were in a dead end, Rainbow had delivered two good hits in Twilight and she could barely keep on with that speed, Rainbow decided that she had waited enough and chose to just attack with both scythes, Twilight saw this coming and thought that the best defence is a good attack, she remained there and stopped the attack of the scythes with Rarity’s blades.

Now it depended on who would go back before, Twilight pushed Rainbow back which made her lost her balance long enough for Twilight to go forward and attack, after that first one, the attacks went on and on, in one of those Twilight started cutting the chain which was a fragile point, if she made attacks to that point Rainbow would need to go back, she couldn’t throw the scythes and then she would have an opportunity. She kept attacking and slicing at the chain without realising a vital thing, in one of the strongest attacks Fluttershy shout to the top of her lungs, she had been hit and cut several times.

Rainbow pushed her back and got at a safe distance, that was bad, Fluttershy’s scythes were starting to bleed, she would need to go and see the nurse after this, Rainbow was stubborn but Fluttershy and her were a team so she asked her “hey Flutters, do you think that we can end this or do you want to stop?”

Fluttershy went silent for a few seconds and then with decision on her voice she answered “no, we are here to win right? Let’s win this!”, Rainbow influence didn’t seem so bad, Fluttershy was more decided and dared to do things that she feared sometimes, her friends just hoped that she wouldn’t become as reckless as her meister.

After Fluttershy’s declaration, Rainbow Dash took a second to think and she decided what to do, “Fluttershy, naginata form!”, “Ok!” After this the same light enveloped Fluttershy and when it disappeared she had a new form, it looked like a spear with a sword at the end and the whole weapon was even taller than Pinkie, around 1,60m (5,24 feet) and only the blade was 50 cm (19,68 inches), it was big and looked dangerous but that wasn’t what mattered at the moment, Twilight was speechless and she had to say what both she and Rarity were thinking.

“How can that be possible, it simply can’t be true that someone has more than a weapon form, is that one of your tricks?”

“Oh, no, and hear me when I say that it is not impossible, it’s just really rare, in Fluttershy’s family a member in each generation gains this particularity” now Rainbow knew that this was her opportunity, she could attack combining Fluttershy’s forms to surprise her but she would need to be quick, luckily for her that was her speciality.

She advanced with flowy movements making it hard for Twilight to avoid being sliced, she then saw a hole in the Rainbow’s guard but Rainbow also noticed it, she turned, kicked Twilight’s tight to make her stay still and the using Fluttershy’s pole she just balanced her weight, jumped and hit Twilight in the face once more, she then performed a backflip and said “Fluttershy, ninja sword!”, Fluttershy changed once more to a sword now with 30 cm (11,8 inches) of blade, a shorter weapon meant quicker attacks, and Rainbow didn’t even let Twilight breath, she went to attack again and Twilight almost didn’t save her neck.

Twilight jumped back to earn some time but Rainbow just jumped against her and when she looked, she saw that on one of Rainbow’s hands there was a small accumulation of bolts, that was going to hurt, she received the impact and it send her 10 m (32,80 feet) away, definitely that was going to hurt later. She didn’t expect that and when she got to look back at Rainbow, Twilight saw that she had a deception look on her face. 

“Come on witch, when are you going to use your tricks? my patience has limits” Rainbow sounded offended, like if someone had insulted her, Twilight didn’t really understand what she was talking about.

“What do you mean?”

“I mean that I’m fighting a witch and I want to see you do your tricks, that way when I defeat you it’ll be greater” Rainbow’s lack of patience was again showing of.

“Eh, Twilight, before you keep talking could you explain me what she just did?”

“Oh, sure, that was just the wavelength, you know when we connect our souls and that way, we get more energy?” started explaining Twilight 

“Yeah”

“Well, some people can just get all that energy that their souls produce and use it in a shock, some meisters are so good that they can kill a changeling with a shock, that is the “wavelength” potential”

“Oh, ok, please continue” answered Rarity

“Well? Are you going to do your thing or what?” Now Rainbow was passing from anxious to angry

“I can’t”

“What?!”

“I said that I can’t, it is forbidden to do magic without permission of miss Celestia”

“Well, then I guess that I won’t shock you anymore”

“Why? You don’t have to feel pity, or contain yourself”

“Well witchy, is because I can defeat anyone and I can do it fairly as well”

“Ok, then let’s go!”, Twilight was going to jump back at Rainbow, she now had an idea of what she could do to win.

“Wait right there Twilight!”

Rainbow was just going to lose her nerves, she didn’t stand interruptions “And who are you Pegasus?”

In fact, the others looked closer and saw that the new person was a Pegasus, not only because she had a lean body but because she had a few feathers behind her ears just like Rainbow or Fluttershy, this woman’s feathers were a soft pink.

“Cadence?!” Twilight just couldn’t believe it

“Yes Twilight, it’s me, your brother and I just came back today and when I went to ask how you were doing at your classes, do you know what the people at the Academy told me? That you hadn’t go to class! I thought that you could have panicked and I worried about you, and when I come out to keep looking for you, I found that you are fighting, I thought that we talked about this Twilight, you had to go unnoticed and that way you wouldn’t have problems!” That woman, Cadence, was really angry.

“I-I know Cadence, I’m really sorry, I just, I was just trying and…” Twilight was starting to panic and Rainbow Dash was not going to take any of it.

“Hey you Twilight!”

“What?”

“Wasn’t I the great and most awesome Rainbow Dash the one who told you to fight me?”

“Well, yes”

“Then listen right here you party-pooper, I told miss magic girl here to fight and she accepted, and if I can see correctly, she is old enough to be in this Academy and to make her own decisions so shut up and let us continue”

Cadence was speechless, she put an angry face, looked and Twilight and then went away.

“Hey, Rainbow?” said Twilight

“Yeah?”

“Thanks for that, she sometimes can be too much”

“Don’t thank me, I just hate went people try to tell me or others what to do, we are not five you know?”

“Oh, of course”

After that both started giggling, that giggle became a laugh, the situation had passed from death battle to a kind of fun situation.

“Hey, you know what? You may not be that bad”, all the battle energy had already left Rainbow and she wasn’t in the mood anymore.

“Well, thank you, you do really know how to fight”

“Well Pinkie, that turned out better that I thought” said AJ now in a calmer tone than at the beginning.

“Hey AJ, I know that you don’t like unicorns but maybe you should give her an opportunity” Pinkie just tried to see the bright side as always.

“I know sugarcube, and, you know what? I think that you may be right, let’s give her a chance ok?” now Applejack sounded more optimistic.

“That’s my cousin!” Pinkie couldn’t be happier, it was a pity that the happiness could just poof in an instant.

“Fluttershy, god! Hey, wake up! Come on!” Rainbow was now shouting because Fluttershy was unconscious in the floor bleeding from her forehead. “God! AJ, I’m going to get her to the infirmary!”

“Yeah, just go!”

“Gosh, I didn’t think that we had hurt her so much” Twilight now was horrified.

“It’s okay, the nurse RedHeart is the best in her office, now let’s go with them and also, you could explain who was that Cadence” AJ was trying to keep it cool, she didn’t want everybody to panic and she was kind of curious as well.

“Ok, well, Cadence is, well, she technically is family, you see…”

Now that the fight outside the Academy had ended the four remaining girls were going inside, their initial idea was to directly go to the infirmary to make sure that their friend was going to be okay, then Pinkie and Applejack remembered that they had to give their report about last night mission, it was kind of cruel not to go to the infirmary right away but, as Applejack said, the nurse Redheart was a professional, at the moment the four of them were going to the Academy’s reception, they would give the report and after that the infirmary would be the next stop.

“So, that Cadence is a relative of yours?” asked Applejack while guiding the rest to the Academy’s reception, this was situated in the middle of the first floor so they actually had to walk a little.

“Well, she is not a relative yet but she is my brother’s weapon and girlfriend, she is nice most of the time and she really cares for others but sometimes she gets really angry and it’s then when I prefer not to be close” Twilight was trying to explain her relation with Cadence in a way that didn’t sound strange.

“Ok, I more or less get it but you are her boyfriend’s sister, and even if you weren’t, she shouldn’t talk to ya like that, ya know?” Applejack looked to her left when saying so to look at Twilight and their eyes made contact, then both saw the pink blur that was Pinkie Pie, she was walking between AJ and Twilight, not only because she wanted to but because her cousin had asked her to do so, she still didn’t feel completely safe or comfortable.

Twilight thought for a second about what Applejack and Rainbow had told her, she knew that both were right but she also understood that Cadence didn’t hate her so she explained herself once more, “well, I get what you are saying but what her and my family want is to protect me, they always try to do it and they also teach me how to avoid problems.” “Cadence and my brother have always told me to just go unnoticed, to avoid problems and just talk to talk to people that I need to talk to”

“That’s wrong in so many ways!” Pinkie was shocked by what she was hearing, not talking to people? Not being able to make new friends? What kind of dictatorship did that family have?  

“Pinkie here is right, I know how you must be treated but still, but wait then, how did you get Rarity?” AJ asked now with new doubts

“Well, both of our families have been friends for quite a while, we played together when we were children and with time, we saw that she was a weapon, the rest is history I guess” 

“Ok, but if that Cadence appreciates you that much why did she got so angry, you were just relating to other people and she must know that the Academy actually supports battles between students as a way to test themselves”

“As I said, she just doesn’t like me to get into troubles and that also means talking to others”, “She know will find my brother and then they both will lecture me about all possible danger in the world” Twilight already had a stressed face thinking about what waited for her. 

Pinkie then stopped and spoke her mind out loud “But if you are a unicorn doesn’t that mean that your brother is all magic as well?”

Twilight was going to explain but Applejack started to speak

“No, Pinkie, only girls are witches and only them can make the powerful magic, boys are mainly like their fathers, they inherit the abilities that their fathers have and in case they can do some sort of magic is something ridiculous compared to witch magic” 

“That’s true, I’m kind of surprised, what students usually know about unicorns is how to kill them and not much else” Twilight truly was glad that someone out of her family knew anything about witches

“Oh, and what about Rarity being a weapon, aren’t unicorns only meisters?” Now Pinkie’s curiosity came to her again.

This time it was Twilight the one who answered, “well, in their vast majority yes but still there’s around a 1,5% chance of a unicorn to be a weapon”

“That’s really cool!”

“Yeah Pinkie, it’s cool I guess, but listen here sugarcube, you can’t always avoid your problems or fears, and sometimes you even need them to improve yourself, I’m just sayin’ ”, Applejack now tried to understand Twilight’s point of view.

Twilight now questioned what kind of problems Applejack referred to, was it relating to witches or to something else? before she could ask Pinkie took the opportunity to talk.

“Don’t you worry, what she wants to say is that she really, really fears unicorns and you now are Rainbow’s new bestie so now she has to try and be your friend as well” Pinkie as always just had a smile as if what she said didn’t compromise her cousin.

“Pinkie, how many times have I told you not to spill everything about other people?!” AJ was now offended and starting to shake, both from fear and anger.

“I-I am sorry cousin, I didn’t mean to” Pinkie knew when she had talked too much and now, she was sad because she made her cousin feel bad.

Twilight and Rarity both already imagined why AJ didn’t want to be close to them but apparently it was serious stuff and they also saw how Pinkie now was miserable. Applejack would have been angry at her cousin for much longer if she didn’t understand that she cared about her and that her intentions were good, she had decided to fight her fears and now Pinkie was giving her a push, she was going to do this.

“It’s ok sugarcube, ya didn’t want to hurt me, now wait here with our new pals while I go and finally get rid of this report, I’ll be right back” AJ knew that she would need to talk to Pinkie but she just decided that that could wait.

In fact, it only took about five minutes for AJ to deliver the report, now they were going to the infirmary, it was situated in the second floor even though there was a first aid section in the first floor.

Twilight now felt kind of awful so she tried to lift up both girls’ spirits, “hey Applejack, you better?”

“Yes I’m” now Applejack was entering the same monosyllabic language that her brother has.  

“Could I ask you why you hate unicorns so much, I think that I have an idea but still I prefer to ask you, of course if you just don’t to answer you don’t have to”, Twilight was trying to be correct but she didn’t need Rarity’s disappointing look to know that that wasn’t the best moment to ask that.

“Sure, why not?”

Ok, that was a surprise, Applejack once more stopped to hold her breath for a moment, then she started walking slower and started to speak.

“I, well I’m kind of scared of witches because one, one witch…” Applejack realised that she didn’t want to say it out loud, memories hurt.

Twilight realised this and since she wasn’t a heartless monster she spoke, “It’s ok Applejack, you don’t even have to tell us, I’m sorry I asked”

“No sugarcube, it’s ok, I can’t just hate someone because they are different, what happened is that when I was a kid my parents just became a witch’s friends, they were happy with their friendship and she even came sometime with a treat for my older brother and me, one day my parents were in one of our family’s fields and that same witch came, may parents said hi, I know it because I wasn’t that far, then the witch got closer to my parents and she, she killed them, right there without any kind of pity, what that fucking witch wanted was my father’s amulet, it was her’s apparently, now we’re in the Academy to avoid things like that to happen, and when we have 99 changeling souls we’ll go after that fucking witch” Applejack was notably angry and upset but she got calmed and went back to her neutral state.

Pinkie had a sad face and Rarity was in shock, Twilight didn’t imagine that AJ’s hate reason against unicorns would be this.

“I’m really sorry Applejack, I can just imagine how horrible that had to be, I’m truly sorry”

“You didn’t do anything”

“What?”

“What I mean is that you didn’t kill my parents, you shouldn’t be sorry for someone else’s action and I think that I should stop blaming all witches for my miseries” 

“Well, then I would much appreciate your friendship” Twilight had understood that AJ was a strong person, a pillar, but overtop she was really nice and caring.

“Yeyyy! You see AJ?, you just made a friend! Pinkie was excited of what she considered a goal.

“Ok sugarcube, let’s try to be friends” AJ and Twilight shook hands, thing that Applejack wouldn’t have done without her gloves.

“Oh, it seems that we have arrived right girls?” Rarity mentioned that, in fact they were outside of the infirmary, sited on the floor there was a Rainbow Dash with an angry face.

“Hey Rainbow, how is Fluttershy?” asked Applejack

“Eh? Oh! She is fine, the nurse said that she would need rest for a week or two, right now she is making the diagnosis to see if she can come home”

“That’s nice”

“Hey! Wait a second, you don’t look like you want to kill magic girl anymore”

“No, I don’t, we talked like civilised people”  

“Ha! Peasants, but anyway I guess that that is good”

Twilight was happy with her actual situation, well, except the part when she send a student to the infirmary, still she wanted to ask Rainbow, “hey Rainbow, can I ask you something?”

“Sure”

“Well, I wanted to know…”
> Chapter 5 Getting to know you

“Well, I wanted to know is you do this very often, you know, fighting with everybody and all that”, Twilight had other questions on her mind but she preferred to ask those to someone less… volatile.

“Of course that I do! How else could I show how great and awesome I am if I don’t beat every single soul in the Academy!” well, Twilight expected something like this and seeing Rainbow’s reaction she decided to save her questions for later at least.

Twilight now was puzzled and she certainly didn’t know what else she could say to avoid that uncomfortable silence, at that moment Rainbow talked again.

“Hey AJ, did you already deliver the report?”

“Ah sure did”

“And tell me, how did the Mayor look at you when she saw that you were late?” now Rainbow was starting to enjoy the stressed face that AJ had.

Doubting at first Applejack answered “well, she wasn’t really pleased to see the delay but she said that 1 in 52 wasn’t that bad”

Now with even more doubts Twilight asked “wait, isn’t the secretary called May”

AJ understood the doubt and she quickly explained “in fact her name is Mary but she is really good at paperwork and at leadership so everyone just calls her Mayor, she even likes it so it’s not a problem if you hear someone refers to her like that”

Now with that being said, the four girls stayed silent, not only because they didn’t have anything to say but because they were out of an infirmary, a few minutes later the nurse RedHeart got out of the infirmary, her uniform was wrinkled and had some blood on it as well, she looked tired and they could understand why. She looked at the four and spoke to Rainbow trying to remain calm.

“Rainbow, can you please explain what happened this time?”

“Sure, I saw magic girl here and I decided that I had to defeat here, we fought and when we were winning and angry granny that is related to her came and interrupted us, after that we stopped fighting and when I realised Fluttershy had fainted from her injuries so I took her to the infirmary and now here we are” Rainbow said everything as if it was the most normal thing.

“Rainbow Dash, you don’t stop fighting with everybody, this is the fourth fight this week and today is Wednesday, and even though Fluttershy is really resilient she won’t get very far if you keep getting her into the infirmary” 

RedHeart was being completely serious and Rainbow now had a puzzled face, then Dash asked “can I see her?”

RedHeart still with a serious face talked again “no Rainbow because after you see her you will just go home, you fight too much and take very little consequences so you are going to principal Celestia’s office to tell her what you have done, when you are finished there you can come and see her”

“What?! That’s totally unfair!”

“Rainbow, low your volume and it is not unfair, you must learn that every action has a reaction, you can’t always get things your way”

Now Rainbow was defeated, she knew that she could just pass through the nurse and then escaped through a window, she could do that but Fluttershy then would be disappointed and she didn’t want that.

“Ok nurse, I’ll tell Celestia but I’ll be back right away” Rainbow turned around to leave.

“Wait sugarcube, I actually want to go for a walk, that way we can talk ok?” Applejack went behind Rainbow Dash and she accepted, they left and then the nurse talked to the three girls.

“Well girls, would you like to see Fluttershy? She is awake and now she could use a visit, especially from you Pinkie, I know that you will cheer her up for sure”

“Sure nurse, let’s go girls!”

Inside the room there wasn’t anything unusual, at the opposite side from the door there was a window, on the left side there were three beds, Fluttershy was in the one closer to the window, on the right side of the room there were a table and the most usual medicaments needed, at the right back there was a bathroom for the sick students.

“Hey Fluttershy! We came to see how you are doing” Pinkie was, very direct

Fluttershy was seated but had her head on the pillow, when she heard the cheerful call she turned and was glad that it was Pinkie and the rest, she tried to sit straight even though her injuries hurt horribly, “hello Pinkie, hello to you too guys, where are Rainbow and Applejack, are they ok?”

“Oh, they are ok but Rainbow had to go and talk with Celestia about the fights and AJ wanted to go with her, but don’t worry your little head a bit, there will come” while saying so Pinkie went to hug Fluttershy without realising the cuts and hits all over her body”

“Aggh!”

Pinkie realised the harm done and quickly stopped hugging Fluttershy “I’m so so sorry Fluttershy, I didn’t remember, are you okay?”

Now with a pained face Fluttershy tried to reassure Pinkie and calm her “I’m fine Pinkie, when I’m better I’ll give you a hug, don’t worry”

Pinkie though that that was probably a lie but she didn’t want to argue with her, while Fluttershy and Pinkie talked Twilight saw that the nurse wasn’t there “Hey guys, where did the nurse go?”

“Oh, when I awoke, she told me that she needed to go and pick some supplies from the Academy’s basement, I think that she talked about boxes of medicaments and some casts”

“Well, if she needs several boxes, she won’t be able to carry all of them, I think that I’ll help her, the quicker she gets back the sooner she can look at your injuries, I can still use lifting magic after all, is not a big thing but it’ll be enough”

Pinkie though “hey, didn’t you say before that magic was forbidden?”

“yes I did, something like lift a chair is not that powerful and I can use those kind of spells if a teacher or the principal allows it to help someone.

“But what if the nurse says no? I know, I’ll go with you to help, anyway you need help because you sure don’t know where the medical section is in the basement” 

Twilight though about it for a moment but she realised that she indeed didn’t know where the room was, “ok Pinkie, I could use the help, will you guys be okay if we leave?”

Rarity was the one to answer “sure darling, I think that we’ll be able to get to know each other”, at this Fluttershy smiled and nodded, then Pinkie and Twilight got on their way and out of the room.

For a few minutes they both were silent didn’t know exactly what to say, Rarity once more decided to talk, “are you feeling better?”

“oh yes, now that I’m patched, I feel really fine, in two days I’ll be on my feet again”

“two days? Allow me to doubt darling but if I were in your condition, I would at least need a week”

Fluttershy had a puzzled face but Pinkie always told her to try and be herself to make more friends and Rarity looked like a nice person so she decided to try and get on well with her “It’s ok, I promise, I have been in this situation quite a few times and I know what I can and can’t stand”

“nonsense dear, a hit is a hit and that must hurt really bad, I’m sure”

“Don’t worry so much, my metal is harder than most stones, rocks or gems, and Rainbow and I train daily, I don’t want to fail, I can’t fail”

“Fail? Darling, even the greatest fighters can’t always win, and for what I saw you are a very good fighter, you also made a good team by the way”

“What I meant is that my work is to ease Rainbow’s work and if I can’t do that and make her win that means that I’m failing”

“Dear, I understand that win is what we are supposed to do but it’s not only your responsibility, it also depends on your partner and in what your opponent can do”

Fluttershy now looked thoughtful “do you know my family?” Rarity’s expression showed that she didn’t, “well, my family is one of the best weapon’s family, the Uchikis” now Rarity understood where she was going, “in my family we train since we are able to walk to be the best, victory is our objective, is for that that I can’t fail and that is also the reason that I’m so resilient, as you said most weapons would need at least a week but to me two days is enough”

“But all that pressure must be horrible, I can’t just imagine what trying to fulfil those standards must feel like”

“It’s not horrible if you grow up living like that”   

“Wait, so, that thing that Rainbow Dash mentioned before?”

“Oh yes, each generation one of us gets this ability”

“So, you don’t have any brothers?”

At the mention of this Fluttershy looked at her lap with a darker glow in her eyes like if she was in pain, then she replied “I do have a brother, he inherited the katana form, he knows how to use it”

“I’m sorry if I brought that up, I didn’t though that you might not want to talk about that”

“Once again, is okay, you can’t know what is wrong if you don’t ask, that is something that Pinkie always says, and about my brother he, he just likes to get in troubles but he is sweet, if you get to know him, he, he just has some…problems when relating to other people, he sometimes gets aggressive and…”

“That’s fine dear, that’s perfectly fine” Rarity was trying to make Fluttershy understand that she didn’t need to keep telling her about the subject.

And so, both weapons kept talking getting to know more about each other, much lower in the Academy a weapon and a meister were having a conversation, more like Pinkie was talking nonstop and Twilight was trying to keep up with her.

“So Twily, do you want to play something?”

“Not really, we now have a mission, to find the nurse and help her, then go back to the infirmary and from there we can decide what to do”

“Aww, but that’s boring, how can we become good friends if we don’t get to know each other?”

“Well, you already know about me, I have a brother, actually I have two, I have my parents and my sister in law, and of course Rarity, I like plans and order and fighting is not something that I’m really passionate about”

“Ok! Then I’ll tell you about myself okay?”

Twilight wanted to say in an elegant way that they shouldn’t waste energy but Pinkie looked really happy with the “getting to know each other” idea so she just went with it, “Sure Pinkie, I’m listening”

“Super! Well, I grew up on a farm, I’m the third of four sisters, my parents and my sisters aren’t as cheerful as I am but if we’re together I know that they are happy, also, everyone in my family are weapons just like me but only my biggest sister goes to the Academy”  

“Umm, now that you mention it, have you always been so happy, I mean 24/7”

“Not always, when I was small I was kind of like a rock, like the rest of my family but my granny Pie sure knew how to make me happy, she was the best”, Pinkie then put a more neutral face and continued “then my granny passed away and we were super sad for a while but then we moved closer to my cousin’s place, it’s then when I saw how big our family was, I saw that they were also sad and that they needed someone, so that made me realise that I wanted everybody to be happy” 

“You mean Applejack when her parents were…?”

“Oh, yes”

“But Pinkie, are you truly happy or…?”

“Of course that I am”, now Pinkie looked completely serious and determined, “I mean, is not that I can always smile at every single moment but I know that doing that makes other people happy, that my friends and family are happy is the thing that makes me the happiest. It’s for that that I don’t care, if I would need to smile 40 hours straight I would do it” After that Pinkie relaxed herself and finished, “You know? Sometimes it is hard to be me, people think that I’m all bubbles and laughter, they say that I am not sincere but the sincerest thing about me is that I want others to be happy” 

Twilight thought for a moment and then spoke her mind, “I get it but make others happy by turning your back on your own wellbeing is not healthy, sure that Applejack has say that to you”

“How did you know?”

“She looks really honest”

“Well, I don’t feel bad, I make others happy and that makes me happy, then at home I recharge myself with energy and sugar to do that again, trust me Twily, I have been doing this for a while”

“Then I guess that that’s okay”

Both Pinkie and Twilight kept walking forward, now Pinkie was starting to bounce and hum like before they started to talk, eventually they got to the room and saw nurse RedHeart trying to lift several boxes, Pinkie wasn’t a genius but she knew that that was too much for a single person even though the nurse was an Earther what the nurse had more trained was her brain and not her muscles.

“Hey doc! We came to help”

At that moment the nurse got scared and jumped back, then she realised that it was Pinkie and Twilight and she calmed down, after that she asked “girls, what are you doing down here?”

“We came to help you, maybe you are deaf doc” Pinkie was already on her happy mood once more

“Well, thank you girls, actually I could use some help, getting all the supplies to the infirmary would take me an eternity”

“That’s fine, let’s go Pinkie, the quicker we get the supplies the sooner the nurse can go and check on Fluttershy”

After that the three get to work, each carrying two boxes, except Twilight that thank to her telekinesis could carry one more box, they got on a lively chat until they were once more on the infirmary. When they got there, they saw that Rainbow and Applejack had returned and Fluttershy was asleep, Rarity said that while Twilight and Pinkie were gone her and Fluttershy had been chatting, in fact she said that they got really well with each other, a while later Fluttershy fell asleep of tiredness and it’s around the same time when both Rainbow and AJ returned.

They chatted and talked and then everyone when to their homes, Pinkie and AJ said bye happily and went to their apartment, Rarity and Twilight said “see you tomorrow” and Rainbow decided to race to her home to fall asleep, today the girls didn’t have class but tomorrow will be a new day, and while they were walking Twilight and Rarity decided to talk about what they had learned about their new friends.

“So Rarity, how was your chat with Fluttershy?”

“Well darling, what I can say is that she is one of the sweetest people I have known, she gives everything in the battlefield and she has to represent her family which is a big deal” answered Rarity

“Um, Pinkie is nice and she also wants to just make everyone happy, I don’t think that I could do that, I mean, most of the time trying to keep myself stable is hard enough but she still gets to do it, and apparently she knows everyone’s names in the school, at least from the people on our grade.”

“Oh, during our conversation Fluttershy said that Pinkie indeed was really nice and she also talked about her partner, Rainbow, it looks like both of them have an intense past” said Rarity walking in a calm pace.

“And why’s that? I mean, you said that Fluttershy is from that weapons’ family and that’s cool but…” questioned Twilight 

“When Fluttershy told me about Rainbow, I understood who she was, I mean, what does the name Rainbow remind you of?”

“Of a meteorological phenomenon caused by the reflection of the light” said Twilight totally convinced with her answer.

Rarity seemed to want to facepalm herself, she tried to ask again in a more direct way, “What I wanted to say is, doesn’t you have read about people with the same name as Rainbow?”

Twilight had a puzzled face once again, she read constantly about any subject, from history to science but she couldn’t quite place what Rarity was asking, “I think that I have read something about that but right now I don’t know what to say”

“The Rainbow family, a clan of assassins that ended becoming changelings, just plain demons”

“Ah, now I remember but do you mean that Rainbow is from that family, all the members were killed right?”

“That’s just apparently, Fluttershy told me that around 17 years ago some professionals from the Academy went to kill the last members and when they did so the found a baby with their mark, it was Rainbow Dash”

“Wow, now that I think about it makes quite sense, the scar whit the bolt shape on the eye and well, the bolts everywhere, I guess that not everybody feels happy having someone with a bad reputation as her, just like with us”

“As far as Fluttershy told me Rainbow always wants to battle with someone but she also says that she has a good heart and her mind set on being the best”

“Well, that’s nice, I just hope that we won’t need to fight again with her, or at least not in a short time”

“About that, Fluttershy told me that if we fought again, we could go after to their house, she said that Rainbow can be really persistent, I would say annoying but that’s not the point”

“Wait a sec, don’t they live in an apartment like the rest of students?” questioned Twilight

“Oh no, Fluttershy explained that they live in a house at the outskirts of the city, the Academy left the house to Rainbow because she didn’t have anyone and because making her live in the Academy’s basement was kind of cruel, really cruel if you ask me but the thing is that they even have a gym and all, sweet Fluttershy also told me that we could go and use it if we want to”

“That’s nice, and what did you tell her?” questioned now Twilight following the trace of thought of the interviews

“Darling, the key is to be honest, you know, I told her how Sweetie and I are both weapons and witches, that dad didn’t graduate completely from the Academy because he met mom and that mom doesn’t feel really safe among the students, a little resume of my life”

“Well, you are right with that, did you tell her that Sweetie was going to start attending the Academy?”

“Oh, yes I did, and Fluttershy commented that Applejack has a sister her age and that Rainbow cares about a kid equally old and that is probable for them to end on the same class, if those kids are half as nice as the girls then I can’t think of a reason to worry”

“Indeed Rarity, hey do you know what I was thinking? Pinkie told me that she had an older sister that also studied here, she said that we may get to know her, apparently, she goes on long missions, similar to Shinning Armor, what was her name again? Mod or something like that”

“That’s nice, our first day and we are already making friends, who would have thought so right?”

“That’s true, talking about Pinkie I was thinking…” and without having time to finish her phrase Rarity had already jump to cut her thoughts

“Don’t you say it Twilight Sparkle, I swear”

“How can you know what I was going to say?”

Defeated because Rarity knew how this was going to end just played along, “Ok Twilight, surprise me”

“Thank you very much, what I was going to say is that I totally ship Pinkie and Fluttershy, I mean they are both super cute, can you image the both of them together? That would be like the cutest couple ever, you must agree Rarity”

Sadly, Rarity hadn’t been wrong, she either could not say much, she herself was also a shipper but that her partner was already claiming Fluttershy and Pinkie as OTP on the first day was kind of scary, “Ok Twilight, they are indeed cute but we can’t assume those kind of things”

“Well, if they end together you and I will do what I want for a day, how does that sound?”

Rarity on her chic attitude preferred to play safe but at the same time she knew that Twilight would never hurt her, not on purpose, “Ok Smarty Pants, let’s do that”

“Hey! I told you to stop using that name!” Twilight was now all flustered with her checks a deep crimson color, she didn’t like when people remind her of her plushie.

“Ok dear, calm down, look we are almost there” said Rarity without losing her small smile enjoying her partner’s reaction.

After that both got to their apartment and prepared lunch, after finishing eating Twilight said that they should study to be on advance respect to their classes, Rarity was not amused by this but she knew that arguing would be pointless so they studied and went to bed early.

The next day the sun was shining brightly in the sky, warm weather and a slight breeze, a nice day indeed, from their apartment Twilight and Rarity were going to the Academy, it was around fifteen minutes of walk from their flat so they were just in time, they were walking through one of the secondary streets without saying much because there were occasions in which they didn’t to talk to communicate, suddenly they saw a black and blur jumping on top of the buildings just above them.

The blur the stopped, went back, and jumped landing in front of them, the blur turned out to be Rainbow Dash but she looked out of breath with messy hair and wrinkled clothes, Twilight was the one to ask, “hey Rainbow, you okay? And why were you jumping from the buildings’ rooftops?”

“Ha, you simple peasant, when you are so great as me you just go through the city in the way that you want and about being okay, well, I almost got late because I didn’t wake up precisely early, Fluttershy is usually the one who is in charge of that”

“Well, then I guess that we can go together to class”

“More like you will go to class on your own, is not that I don’t want to but I have to go and pick up Fluttershy from the infirmary, see ya at class ok?”

Completely shocked Rarity asked, “are you saying that she is already up? She told that she would need two days and, in any case, both are crazy suppositions”

“Oh yeah, that, well Fluttershy is sturdier that what she looks like so don’t worry, if she says that she can do it you just say let’s go, now I’m leaving, bye!”

And with that the meister jumped incredibly high reaching the roof of a building, she started running and jumping and shortly the blur couldn’t be seen anymore, Twilight and Rarity continued their way and eventually got to the Academy, they went to the third floor were their classroom was situated, when they were finishing getting to the top of the stairs they saw a pink fluffy head and the distinctive cowboy that they already associated with Applejack. Pinkie, not giving anyone a breath was the first in say hi, “hey guys, how are you doing? Did you sleep well? Did you saw Rainbow coming to the Academy? Are you excited for the class? What is your favourite…” Pinkie would have keep rambling with questions if Applejack hadn’t covered her mouth for her to stop, “c’mon sugarcube, they can’t keep up with ya’, calm down”

Twilight now assimilating the questions a little better tried to answer Pinkie, “well, yeah we slept well so we are fine and indeed, we encountered Rainbow on our way to the Academy and ate least if you ask me, I am always excited to receive any class”

The four girls had moved to a side to not block the path and they were going to go to their class we they heard the footsteps of a rainbow-colored blur of energy followed silently by the remaining girl, “hey guys, good that you are here, now I can give you an autograph”

“No thanks, I already have the other fiv that you have tossed through my window at home, I don’t want another proof of your ego for the sixth time” AJ was having none of it clearly but Pinkie was more concentrated in Rainbow’s company, “hey Flutters, are you feeling better?” she had a huge smile on her face to encourage her friend.

“Oh yes, I am doing just fine, I only have a slight limp but it should go away in two or three days”

Rarity was once again surprised with this news, “frankly dear, how is that you can already be on your feet, I mean we hurt you really bad and just yesterday you told me that it would take at least two days to recover”

“Yeah, that’s true but I have been in worse situations more than once so don’t worry” Fluttershy said it as if it was the standard and Rainbow looked annoyed but just for a second then she once again spoke her mind, “and what are we waiting for girls, let’s go have those lessons and after that the best part, food” Rainbow was clearly not excited because of the lessons but that didn’t surprise anybody at this point

When they were going to walk away a now common face got close to them, Cadence, this time she was accompanied by a tall and muscular boy, he had the markings around his eyes and looked to be under a lot of stress trying to keep up with the girl, when Twilight saw them, she had a face of wanting to be sucked by the ground.

“Twilight, stop right there, we have to talk” Cadence was angry as hell

“Hey Cadence, hey Shining, eh, guys that is my brother Shining Armor, he is a meister like me and about the us talking I don’t see what we should talk about”

“You don’t? you are going to get in quite some trouble!” and while she was shouting Cadence didn’t realise that she was moving her arms and she almost hit a girl if that girl hadn’t seen that coming stopping the arm in its trajectory, they all stopped to look at the girl, it was nearly as tall as Cadence, she definitely had more muscle and wore a short sleeved grey shirt with some leggings, a short pant and what looked like reinforced boots, all of her clothes where in a shade of black or grey, had this girl come from a mine or what?

Before anybody could react properly Pinkie jumped in pure delight shouting, “Maud, it’s you! How was the travel? And your mission?...” Pinkie started asking questions and the girl, Maud didn’t move even a little, she didn’t even react, the girls, more like Rarity, Twilight and her relatives looked at the other three girls trying to look for any similarity between Pinkie and Maud.

Applejack was the one to answer, “girls, that’s Pinkie’s big sister, Maud Pie, she is a really good weapon and her partner, which is also her boyfriend should be around here, oh and his name is Mudbriar”

The rest nodded and Cadence was going to talk again to Twilight went Maud was the one to speak, “What’s wrong sis?”, okay, it had to be said, Maud had a really monotone voice, too monotone to relate her with Pinkie but apparently the sisters were as night and day and it seemed to work for them so cool.

Pinkie then proceeded to tell what had happened the day before remarking that Cadence was a big meanie and a party-pooper and saying how then Fluttershy was sent to the infirmary, when saying so Maud looked at Fluttershy and gave her a sympathetic glare, Maud didn’t dislike people but she was glad that Pinkie had a friend like her 

When Pinkie finished telling the story Maud’s partner had arrived, a lean guy that hided some muscle as well behind a white shirt and some khaki pants with some black trainers, these two clearly had to be a couple because they couldn’t be more similar, Maud then thought and talked to Cadence

“And why were you shouting at the poor girl?”, that look was directly going to the soul so Cadence tried not to look straight

“I was shouting because every time Twilight decides to do something that is not study or listen, she ends losing control”

“And have you never thought that is because you have never train her properly or give her the chance to auto control herself?” 

That had hit right into Cadence pride, who was this girl?, “For all of you, this isn’t any of your business so get moving”

Maud had her poker face still on and kept going, “No, I don’t think so, what do you say if we have a fight, we lose and you keep shouting your nonsense but if we win you will let the girl be, what do you say?”

At that moment Cadence was just a few steps from falling into insanity, her patience had limits and she thought, what best way of getting rid of the kids than this?, “”ok, let’s play your game”

“Technically this is not a game”, those were the first words coming from Mudbriars’ and it was clear that those two had things in common.

All of them went out to watch the fight and Pinkie got close to Twilight, “hey, don’t worry okay? Maud always have things under control”

“Okay, is just that I don’t want more people in the infirmary” Twilight was worried but Pinkie’s bright smile send away some of her worries, they looked at the battle ground and Cadence was already transformed, she was a big shield, it was round with the border a light pink and the centre white, it also had spikes all over the borders, really scary. 

Maud then look at her partner and nodded, a dark blue light covered her and when she was transformed she was a big pickaxe just like those from the mines, both boys held their partners close until Mudbrier jumped to the attack, this battle was going to be one to be epic.

“Come on Mud” said Maud while concentrating in keeping her form.

“Getting there Maud” the truth was that both Maud and Mud did not only look and act similar but even their names were similar, this could be one of those soulmates’ cases.

At the moment Mud and Maud were winning since Shining hadn’t been able to attack and had had to stay in a defensive stance receiving the constant outbreaks, Cadence was already starting to feel the result of all the cuts, right at the centre the pickaxe was destroying the surface a bit at a time. 

Shining noticed that they couldn’t stay like that for much longer or they would lose, he took the opportunity when Mud was preparing another attack to avoid it (by centimetres but still) and get far from the pair. Even with that Shining Armor knew that they didn’t have much time until the next attack, that guy was slim but he had a heck of stamina.

Shining decided that attack from the distance was the best option, Mudbriar would need to get close but Shining didn’t need to, Shining looked at Cadence and both agreed in what to do, Shining got his arm out of the strap on Cadence and grabbing one of the shield’s side he threw it with and effect that reminded the girls of how Twilight had used Rarity’s weapon form, the girls looked at Twilight with confusion on their faces.

Laughing nervously Twilight said “Well, you know my brother is someone that I have always look up to so…” Understanding the similarity everyone turned back to look at what had happened, Mudbrier had avoided the attack and Shining Armor was trying to launch Cadence in different manners to get him, the problem was that Mud was too fast and Cadence too big and slow, they were running out of options, Shining kept trying to hit Mud with Cadence flying attacks and Mud kept getting closer and even attacking eventually, the emotions were up.

“Go Mud, show them you my in-law! Go Maud go!” Pinkie was as excited as the fanatics that went to a sport event and lived every second with emotions, apparently the cheering was funny because Applejack was trying to hold her laugh, now it was Twilight the one that had doubts.

“Oh, it’s nothing sugarcube, it’s just that at the beginning, Pinkie couldn’t be in the same room as Mudbriar and now she is a fan, you should have seen her then”  

“Really?” asked Twilight now intrigued

Thinking what to say more like how Pinkie answered “yeah, at the beginning I didn’t like him, I thought that he wasn’t good enough for Maud but she has told me that she likes him and Mud and I worry about Maud so with time we got better, now we are fine”

The fight continued, Mud attacked and gained a little advantage, then Shining tried to attack which made Mud avoid the attacks and retreat a little, it seemed that this was going to continue for a while and only the one with the best stamina would win. Looking to the fight with her sister Pinkie had an idea that didn’t seemed as a good one but still she was going to proposed, she turned to face Twilight to ask, “hey Twilight, you know what would be cool when the fight finish?”

Looking apart from the battle once more Twilight focused on the question “I don’t know Pinkie, what?”

“WE should have a fight”

“What now?”

“Think about it, my sister and your brother are fighting, if your brother wins, we won’t do anything but if Mud wins then we could have a battle, an EPIC battle Twilight, and if you don’t know it, I’m fairly different from my sisters”

“Well, I guess that we could do that, anyway Cadence is already angry so ok and how’s that of being different?”

“You see, Maud is the oldest and she is a pickaxe, my other older sister Limestone is a hammer and my younger sister, Marble, is a ram, but I’m a revolver like my granny!”

“That’s very odd, I mean, usually the kids with same origin get similar abilities”

At that moment a war cry distracted them from their conversation, blood was dripping from the shield, Mud had got to hit in the critic point and not him not Maud seemed to be suffering in excess, with decision in his eyes, at least Twilight thought that the expressionless face was decision, Mud shouted and synchronized his soul with his partner, “Maud, soul resonance!” the shout was still relatively monotone, after that a powerful blue essence surrounded both, Maud’s form grew bigger with a violet and silver glow having now a scythe like form, they all new that now the hits were going to be at least twice as hard.

Seeing this Shining Armor realised that you have to fight the fire with more fire, so he acted knowing that Cadence was thinking the same way, “Cadence, Soul Resonance!”, this time a mix of purple and blue surrounded both, Cadence’s form grew bigger as well, and now there weren’t spikes just on the borders but on the centre as well, just terrific.

Both meisters looked at each other, both knew that this was to end shortly and both jumped to the attack, Mud zigzagged towards Shining Armor decided, when he was getting closer Shining Armor charged against him with all his strength hoping him to receive the strike, seeing this Mud stopped and using Maud’s handle he stopped the advance of Shining by hitting where there weren’t spikes.

By the force of the impact Shining shook on his feet trying to recover some balance which gave Mud enough time as to hit Shining straight with Maud sending him to stay on his knees because of the pain, positioning himself Mud knew that they couldn’t attack back, they had won and both Shining and Cadence knew this as well.

Mud retreated and Maud transformed back to her human form, Cadence did the same and helped his mate to stand up, they both were beaten down really badly but they still could stand, what made Cadence the angriest was that she had accepted and one thing was clear, she maintained her word which now meant to let Twilight on her own, she looked towards Maud, on her face, her inexpressive face Cadence saw that she was expecting for her to do what she had promised.

“Woohoo Maud! You were amazing, yeahhh!” Pinkie was jumping with emotion blaring about how well they had done it but she still commented that Shining and Cadence had fought well, she then turned towards Twilight excited, “Come on Twilight, now us!”

At the mention of this Cadence passed from just defeated to hold my drink, “What!?” Listening this all turned towards her and when Cadence’s and Maud’s eyes locked on each other the message was clear, “ok, go on but this is still a horrible idea” after this Cadence and Shining retired to watch the fight and when Maud and Mud saw that Pinkie and Applejack where going to fight they both gave their thumbs up and Maud said good luck also retiring to one side to watch the fight.

Rarity and Pinkie transformed and Twilight and Applejack waited looking at each other, Applejack had already seen Twilight fight and that was an advantage that Twilight couldn’t forget, still she had the advantage that she could launch Rarity but Applejack had to aim and get the shots, they the prepared and Applejack initiated the attack running and shooting making Twilight avoid the attacks, after an amount of shoots Twilight saw a pattern and was able to start blocking the bullets, Applejack moved in circles and shoot from the distance and once that Twilight saw an opportunity she jumped to attack trying to slice Applejack from the height.

Applejack almost didn’t avoided it, with this Twilight had realised something, Applejack was very strong and precise but because of her size she was slow and to aim correctly she needed to stay still so if Twilight was able to not let her stop moving she would have an opportunity, she continuously tried to slice Applejack from the top and bottom, she moved and thanks to her speed Applejack didn’t even have enough time to think and Twilight was able to slice her several times.

When she was being attacked Applejack saw that this wasn’t going to be a fast battle but in a sense she was letting Twilight attack to be able to see how she fought and when she had it clear she just kicked Twilight a few metres back and got ready, looking at Pinkie she had clear what they had to do, “ya ready Pinks?”, excited and knowing what her cousin meant she advised Twilight, “woohoo, get ready Twily, now the party begins!” After that both made their Soul Resonance and the rest saw how a bluish light surrounded them.

“Twilight dear, what do you think that Pinkie’s form will be?”, Rarity was puzzled without knowing what to expect. “I’m not sure but I guess that since she is a revolver maybe she will turn into a shotgun or something like that”

“Yeah, that’s what most people expect when they see Pinkie” Maud said, “but I’m going to tell you that when Pinkie starts a party she does it in the big way” she finished saying and now Twilight and Rarity didn’t know what to expect, seeing this they also made the Soul Resonance, surrounded this time by a purple light Rarity’s blades grew larger and now both were symmetrical with a large handle coming from the middle, the rest didn’t expect that but clearly that wasn’t close to Twilight’s and Rarity’s reaction to Pinkie, she was a cannon, a CANNON for god’s sake.

“What in the world?! From a revolver you passed to a cannon?!” Unbelievable, that’s what Twilight was thinking. Pinkie now was a cannon and a relatively small one since Applejack could hold her under her arm, she had a tone between silver and light blue and even wheels, this was crazy.

“Oh yeah! If you are going to have a party you better make it big Twily”

What was scaring Twilight the most was how happy Pinkie sounded, thinking now of a new strategy Twilight didn’t realise that Applejack was charging and then shot, if the shot would have reach her she would already be on the infirmary, this was bad and now it was Twilight the one that couldn’t think, now she had to get close and Applejack didn’t even need to move, just fantastic.

For the next few minutes Twilight tried to get close and Applejack kept shooting until one shoot hit her and send her away, Twilight now was on the floor feeling just as she felt against Rainbow Dash, she was loosing and she didn’t saw a way of winning, she looked to her left and saw everyone’s faces, especially she focused on Cadence’s disappointing face, she knew that Cadence didn’t believe in her and that Cadence already was angry at her so she was going to fight, she was going to show everybody and herself that she could fight until the end. 

Twilight got on her feet more decided than ever in her life probably, she had to fight until she couldn’t anymore, she ran straight against Applejack and she prepared another shot, when she was close enough she jumped to the floor and slid between Applejack’s legs, Applejack failed the shot and that gave Twilight enough time as to step, spin and slice Applejack’s back which send her to her knees, Twilight got ready to attack again but Applejack turned and kicked Twilight’s leg which made her loose balance and fall to the floor, Twilight quickly jumped back, she prepared to attack quickly and when she was mere centimetres to cut Applejack’s neck she had to stop because she had pressed Pinkie against her abdomen, she moved the slightly Applejack would shoot and that surely would send her to the infirmary but in that case Twilight could also attack and cut her, this was a draw.

Pinkie and Rarity transformed back and shook hands like their meisters and then someone started clapping, they looked and it was Maud and Mud, “good job Pinkie, cousin, you did great” nobody doubted that Maud was feeling what she was saying but it was hard to tell with that tone of hers, Twilight then looked to Cadence and she looked just as before but for a second she could swear that there was something else on her eyes, she looked at Shining Armor and he looked more sad than anything else, “talk to you later sis, ok?” Twilight nodded and they went away.

Now looking around the girls realised that Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash were nowhere to be seen, “hey sis, where did Flutters and Dash went?” Pinkie sure was fast for everything, “oh, they told us that they had to go to class, they should come out shortly, well Pinkie, we have to go, tomorrow we go on a mission” Maud said and then gave both Pinkie and Applejack a hug and a handshake to Twilight and Rarity before saying “if you are Pinkie’s friends then it’s okay to me”, both nodded and after Mud did the same they left.

Twilight and Rarity talked a bit to Applejack and Pinkie until the students started to get out of class, among the mass of students they found Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash, “sup guys” said Rainbow, “who won?”  

“We ended with a draw sugarcube”

“Oh, that’s boring, ah bookworm, Fluttershy took notes if you want them”

Twilight thought for a moment before realising that it was her who Rainbow was referring to “wait, bookworm?”   

“yeah, yeah, that’s great, look, you can tell us all about today’s fights while we go to our house, Pinks there and cowgirl have a mission tonight with us and we have to get ready”

“Then we shouldn’t interrupt you”

“Nah, come eat with us, if you can feed five you can feed ten, right Flutters?”

“Of course, Rainbow Dash, it’s always nice to have friends over”

And with that the six girls went to Fluttershy’s and Rainbow’s home, they ate, talked and enjoyed each other, Rarity and Twilight said bye and Applejack and Pinkie stayed since their mission would start at night, everything was going to be fine, just a mission to stop a treat, then they went to sleep and wait until the time to go out.

When Fluttershy fell asleep,  she as the rest of her friends was really happy, she even was a little excited to see their enemy, what would they be fighting?.

Later that night the wind was blowing with an unsetting quiteness in a forest far from the Academy, there wasn't a voice to be heard until,

"Come on guys, it's right there!"

Fluttershy and the rest were following Rainbow Dash because she had found where the demon was, they were running through a maze and suddenly Fluttershy was alone, surrounded by tall and death bushes, she had to find her friends and get on track again, when she tried to see where she was she heard a voice that she knew too well and that made her freeze where she was, “hello sis, long time no seeing you, aren’t you happy to see your little brother?”

She turned around to encounter a nightmare, her worst nightmare more real than ever “Zeph?”

"Ha, ha, what? Have you seen a ghost?"

This couldn't be, this couldn't be happening, this just can't be true.

“Zeph? Is that you?” Fluttershy couldn’t believe it, what was he doing here and now? He couldn’t be the demon that they had to hunt, she wasn’t ready, she couldn’t…

“Ha, ha, why do you have that face sis? Aren’t you happy to be here with me? Come on, this is like a familiar reunion, it’s been ages since we had one of those” Zephyr started talking with happiness and a calm tone, but the last thing was said with bitterness and cold in his voice.

He was fairly different from Fluttershy, they didn’t seem to be related at all, Zephyr was almost as tall as Applejack who was 1,90 m (6,23 feet), Zephyr was around 1,85 (6,06 feet) but he had a relaxed position that made him look shorter and Fluttershy always tried to have the straightest posture possible, he was blonde while Fluttershy was redhead, Zephyr looked as if nothing mattered to him, confident and cocky while Fluttershy always analysed her surroundings keeping an alert stance almost all the time. Just like two drops of water, the same but different.

“C’mon sis, can’t we even talk? You look scared as shit” Zephyr had a content and playful tone that didn’t help with the actual situation. Fluttershy needed time, where were her friends, where was she, what should she do, does she really have to kill her brother, all the questions at once came to her head.

“Hey” said Zephyr now angry because he felt ignored, “answer me”

Looking up and getting out of her trance Fluttershy tried to look for an escape or for any signal of her friends, while doing this she realised that she should play along with Zephyr, he wasn’t the most patient person in the world, “what are you doing here?”

“Sis, did you know that I hate when people ignore me?” now Zephyr had a grin of pure anger, “but since I’m so great, obviously, I’ll answer your question, I came just to visit you, big sis”

Afraid Fluttershy thought about what to say “You and I know that that’s not true”

“No, I didn’t lie, I came to visit and to take your soul, it’ll be really helpful”

“Helpful? How can that or killing innocents be helpful? Helpful to who? Does this seem okay to you brother? You have killed innocents! I don’t understand it”

“Of course not, you never understand anything, you go everywhere saving people and killing those creeps and you think that with that you are doing the right thing. You can’t save people, not from me and even if you can who is going to protect you? You are weak, you have always been and once that I get your soul, I’ll be truly unstoppable”

This was bad, really bad and the worse thing is that what Zephyr was saying was true, she was weak, she had always known it and she had always trained until she couldn’t stand to change that. “You may be right but even if I can only save a single life, I’ll still do it”

“Ha! Good one! You even made me laugh. You have always been the weakest sheep on the herd.” While talking his left arm transformed and now his forearm was a thin and sharp blade, completely black and dangerous just by looking at it, the katana. “I’m objectively better than you, my weapon form is better, faster, and more lethal, what does it matter having all of those forms when you can’t do what I cam? You couldn’t defeat me even if you had a thousand to chose from. You are slow, undecisive, you get scared by your own shadow, is for that that you won’t never be over, you never were when we were kids, if you remember right nobody cared about you back at home”

Yeah, definitely that had hurt, Fluttershy now didn’t really want to talk anymore, she knew that her brother knew what to say to make her cry and her eyes felt wetter now. Zephyr decided to continue taking this as an opportunity to take advantage. “I remember that when we were kids and we had to train you always trained since the sun came out until it set, I only had to show of a little and everyone was happy with me. You know why? Because the katana is the real winner, I’m the strongest weapon and you always had to bite the dust, and for what exactly? To come and try to act as if you are someone? You are ridiculous and so are those values that you defend”

It’s then when Fluttershy started to try and hold her tears but this time it was for a different reason than what Zephyr might have thought. “You may be right, I always trained hard, sometimes even five or ten times more than you and I never got half as much praises as you but I don’t need them, not anymore, I’m going to do what is right even if that means stopping you, I’ll still do it” Now she was sad because she knew what she had to do, she had to kill him, to stop him and because she knew that if someone different did it she would never forget herself.

“ha, ha, Ha Ha HA HA HA! Stupid, you are stupid, your own mind tricks you and you can’t realise it” Suddenly the surroundings changed, instead of a labyrinth they were now on the back garden of a wood house, their childhood house, there weren’t any plants or even grass, just plain dirt with fences surrounding the space. As before it was night and in a flash the view transformed, now it was sometime in the morning and there were two kids in that space, it was Fluttershy and Zephyr when they were younger.

Their family had told them both to practise fighting, they were surrounding each other waiting for an opportunity, Fluttershy decided to attack seeing her brother unprotected, changing quickly from her blade arm to her scythe hand she got to domain the battle as she always did, she had her brother on the ground and the he for the first time transformed his arm on his katana and with a single slice got Fluttershy apart, that’s when their family decided that it was enough and as always her brother got all the praises, he had done it great, and he was awesome because he had the GOOD weapon in the family, she was a bunch of incomplete tries and as it always happened she had to go and train for the rest of the day while her brother flexed.

“You were never good enough, you weren’t even good”, now Zephyr had moved until being next to Fluttershy who was sobbing at the view and at remembering that it was true but now she couldn’t back down, drying out her tears she looked at her brother decided “And what?” 

“What do you mean?”

“What if you are stronger, or better, I’ll still do the right thing even if that means, even if that…even if I have to kill you”

“HA! We’ll see if you can say that to yourself even when being awake” and with that Zephyr started walking towards a dark space, darkness was surrounding everything until it got to Fluttershy.

“Wait! Wait, no, don’t leave, nooooooooo”

And with that Fluttershy got awake by Rainbow Dash who was calling her name, when she could focus, she realised two things, one, that everyone was looking at her with a worried expression, and two, that the sun had already come up which reminded her of their mission at night.

Looking puzzled she decided to ask her partner “what happened?”

“What happened?! What happened is that we have been trying to wake you up for a long while, you were mumbling and shouting”

Confused Fluttershy tried to recover her breath “and what about the mission?”

“We called principal Celestia and told her that we couldn’t leave you here like that so she told that she would look up for a substitute, and that we would get a new mission when we got to the Academy” Applejack was looking more like her normal self, straight back and relaxed posture but her eyes asked if everything was okay.

“I am really sorry, I just…”

Pinkie realised that that would be a good moment to try and raise the spirit in the room “Hey, it’s ok, and is also the first time that it’s not Rainbow the one who falls asleep. Let’s get to the Academy now before she decides to take a nap eh?”

That brought a laugh to the four girls and they decided to get ready but Fluttershy was sad and Pinkie concerned which none of the girls seemed to notice, maybe not even themselves. Once they arrived to the Academy after an almost completely silent walk, if it hadn’t been for Rainbow Dash and her rants, they encountered Twilight and Rarity on the entrance.

“Hey nerds!” Clearly if Rainbow Dash could think what she was going to say as fast as she said it, she could avoid a lot of misunderstandings and problems, but it could also be a problem trying to tell her that putting nicknames and shouting at early hours in the morning wasn’t a good idea.

Twilight was the first to notice the rest and answer the greeting in a more polite way “Hello girls, how are you today? Did your mission go as expected?”

And Rainbow once again showing how considered she was demonstrated what everyone already expected “Nah, we didn’t do our mission because Fluttershy fell asleep and we couldn’t wake her up so after that failure Celestia told us to come and pick up another mission” These kind of answers accompanied by a proud smile made it difficult to know if this happened because Rainbow was a bad person or because she was plain ignorant when it came to empathy, the most probable was the second, at least they hoped so.

“Um, Rainbow? Who did Celestia sent to do the mission in our place?”

That was a good question which made Rainbow and AJ chiller while Pinkie just looked at them both, Applejack was the one who decided to talk “Just Octavia and, well her” that last part was practically a whisper.

“Who?” Asked Rarity with a face of “excuse what the fuck”

This time Rainbow repeated in a similar quite voice “her” which was really weird for her.

“Can you just say it out loud?”

“Hey wonder girl, fantastic R, what’s up?” It’s then when a girl appeared behind Rainbow which made her jump from the impression. Now Rainbow, being next to Twilight said once again “there she is, it’s her”

What, or better said, who was there was a girl, maybe shorter than Fluttershy, with purple and baggy jeans, a white hodie and an electric hair with different shades of blue which made Rainbow’s hair look brushed in comparison, the last noticeable thing was the shades that she wore, purple and thick lenses that almost completely covered the blue shade surrounding her eyes and a pair of white headphones over her ears which could make someone think that talking in a normal volume would be harder. “Sup guys, how you doin’ today?”

Twilight took this as an opportunity to meet more people since they weren’t really accepted by the rest of students and the girl seemed really nice “hello, I’m Twilight, what is your name?”

The girl looked at her for a moment and then seemed to remember what she was supposed to do in those situations “hey new rad buddy, name’s Vynil Scratch but you can call me P3 if you want, or by my name if you prefer, whatever’s fine with me”

“P3 is an unusual name if you allow me to say so”

“Oh yeah, actually it’s for DJ Pon-3, you know Punk Over Night even if I am a punk 24/7 and well, numbers always make you look super rad”

“Wait, do you mean that you are a DJ?” asked this time Rarity, “oh, I’m Rarity by the way”

“Yes I am, I’m the most rad in the whole city, well, there aren’t any others DJs but you get it, I act a lot with Cotton Candy there”

This brought the looks to Pinkie Pie but with what they had heard that didn’t sound all that crazy, then a girl appeared from the interior of the Academy, same stature as Vinyl, dark hair, light brown skin, a white shirt with a purple bow and a pair of black pants with also black shoes. The new girl went and stayed next to Vynil to then salute the rest. “Good morning, excuse us if Vynil has been disturbing you, we were on our way to give a report from last night, and oh, excuse my rudeness as well, I am Octavia, Vynil’s weapon and partner, it’s a pleasure to meet you”

“Uh, same” said Twilight, man, she was formal but this was another level.

“Hello Octavia, so were you the ones who took our mission?” Fluttershy now spoke in her more usual tone.

“Yes we were, principal Celestia explained that you were “indisposed” and that it had become impossible to assist so we were called, it was a success in case you are interested, by the way, I already finish listening to the CD you lend me, I can give it to you later if you want” definitely this girl knew about formality but she also had smiled a little and she seemed to get on well with everyone which was appreciated, it was also noticeable that once Octavia started talking Vynil just started nodding to her music without talking once again, after a little more conversation and according an arrangement Octavia proceeded to part. “See you later, we have to finish our report”

With that the rest of girls said their byes and Vinyl and Octavia went in, “so, is Vynil the “her” that you were talking about?” started Twilight mocking about Rainbow’s and AJ’s behaviour 

“Ya don’t understand it, haven’t ya see it in her eyes?”

“See what? She was wearing sunglasses”

“It’s just that she has something, she is always quite and looking at everything from behind, with that face, and Octavia? Have you seen her, completely terrific” this was weird to say the least but at least Twilight was getting to know some new people.

“Stop that Rainbow Dash, I have told you, Octavia is very responsible and a serious girl and Vynil is really nice, on her own way.” You knew that when Fluttershy made an intervention like that you had to stop.

“Well, I think that they were, pleasant for saying it in a way even though their stylistic elections aren’t as satisfying as their attitude” finally with Rarity’s phrasing of what she considered important they decided that it was time to enter already. 

When they entered Twilight and Rarity decided to accompany the girls to pick up their mission and then go all together to class, they went to Mayor’s desk, explained the situation and surprisingly she told them that not only had Rainbow, Fluttershy, AJ and Pinkie attend the mission but Celestia had also specified that Twilight and Rarity were needed, the Mayor gave the girls the paper with the mission’s details and excused them since, nobody knew how, she always had a huge amount of paperwork to do.

“Ok, what do we have Flutters’?”

“Um, according to this we have to go to a small village near a forest, apparently the houses and businesses have been attacked with magic and the impossibility of the villagers to capture the attacker is making their lives exhausting and pretty miserable. It looks as a classic capture and hunt mission but we are six and here it says that this is a four out of five stars in difficulty so maybe this will be harder than it looks like”

“Pff, as if we had to worry, when do we have to go?”

“Ah, let me check, tomorrow morning we have to take a train and by noon we should be on the place”

“I’m super excited, I mean, it’s a mission but it’s our first team mission and it’s Celestia herself the one who put us with you” Twilight looked like a kid on Christmas but without loosing more time they decided to go to their class, the E.A.T class or “Especially Advantaged Talent Class” because nobody could forget that their principal was a very funny person, only the students who were strong enough to go out on missions were able to enter this class and since Twilight and Rarity had been rockin’ it now they could also assist, this would be one of their first days here though.

In the Academy they learned for example about Souls, combat, first aid and so on but they also had some more “mundane” subjects like right now, they had “Classical languages and civilizations”, as Rainbow phrased, you can punch your enemy or you can make them fall asleep but as everyone could agree the bad part of the subject wasn’t the contents or the exams, it was the teacher.

Once they were all sited in their class with elevated rows of chairs, classic university situation, Twilight asked “and what did you say that it was this teacher’s name?”

“Mary Jane Iak but everyone calls her Maniac” said Pinkie as if of course that was a very normal thing to do.

“What? Guys, that’s rude!”

AJ decided to clarify the misunderstanding “No sugarcube, literally everyone calls her that, even the Principal, in fact, I think that it was her who chose that name”

When Twilight decided to reprise once more the door opened in a sudden slamming against the wall, then a voice was heard “ok runts, are you READY?!” after this a woman sited on an office chair entered in a burst, the problem was that all doors have a small sill, this small sill made the chair fell which at the same time made the woman fell face first against the floor.

The woman now was face down and what Twilight could appreciate first was her weird outfit, it was a boiler suit, similar to the ones that firefighters wore, it had a purple color with yellow stripes, she also wore some black boots, again similar to the ones that firefighters or builders had to wear. The most noticeable was that on top she had a white laboratory coat and the green color of her hair, Twilight had seen trees that were less green. Then, as quick as she had fallen, she got up, cleaned her clothes and took the chair out, after another few seconds she repeated the same tactic, having obviously the same result, after this she sat on the floor and started taking notes on things like “trajectory”, “speed” and so on.

Twilight was not going to tolerate this, was this her teacher, “Excuse me, aren’t we supposed to have a class by now ma’am”

This brought the “teacher’s” attention up, “oh right, what’s your name?”

Finally, someone who focused on what they had to do “my name’s Twilight…” and as she was saying this a pair of scissors went flying and got stuck in the wood that formed behind’s table, the scissors had passed barely touching Twilight’s cheek but it was more than enough to make her regret interrupting the teacher.

“I have told you a thousand times, here I am the law so don’t you interrupt, do you understand that? This time she was talking to the whole class, nobody said anything because this was the kind of situation in when saying something could make everything worse. Then, unexpectedly Octavia raised her hand, “ma’am I don’t want to be unrespectful but last class Angel Wings had to be sent to the infirmary because of the scissors you threw to her, and Principal Celestia has also told us to inform her if you start taking the class however you want, I believe that the most practical solution here would be to start the class ma’am”

This seemed to make the teacher think, “well, I’m supposed to teach you so let’s end this façade, DID YOU HEAR ME RUNTS?”, again silent but that didn’t seem to stop the teacher. “Today we will learn really fun stuff, barbarian colonizations through the world and how they lived, and the best part is that we will be watching a really fun documental who recreated their customs and in which I participated, let’s go HAHAHA”

The “documentary” was a hard experience, it definitely showed how they lived, more like how they fought and the worst part was seeing their own teacher taking part in that documentary destroying enemies (we all know that what appeared in the movie wasn’t ketchup, let’s be honest), what also was really irritating was having to hear miss Maniac laughing and commenting every single second of the movie throwing some teachings here and there but what was clear is that that was a traumatic experience. After two hours of torture, I mean, educative class, the students felt that they could breath again since the movie had already finish and so the class, “very well, for the next day I want a synthesis of at least six pages about the movie and another work that must be at least twelve pages long talking about barbarians and their heritage, bye!” and with that the teacher got on her chair and flew out of the room falling once again and having to walk pulling her chair with her after that.

Twilight waited for a moment, one because she needed to process that audio-visual massacre, and two because she wanted to thank Octavia for her help before, when she saw her approaching she tried to say it in a decent way, like a normal person “hey Octavia, thank you for cutting the teacher before, if not she sure would have cut me”

“Oh, you are welcome, the truth is that it was Vynil the one who told me to interrupt miss Maniac, I thought that you were handling it well enough but she asks if you would like to have a duel now that the classes have finished for today”

That clearly surprised her, their first battle hadn’t ended very well so she searched Rarity for her opinion, with a trust look Twilight made her mind, this was here and now, “sure, see you out” with that they shook hands to make it clear that it was going to be a fair combat, which in other way it was weird because Octavia was the weapon but anyhow, with that the four people implicated stayed two in front of two with the other four girls watching from a safe distance.

“I think that the most fair thing to do would be for you to see what kind of weapon I am, I saw your fight so we already have an idea on what to do” it seemed fair and if you could have some advantage over your enemy you just take it, this is war. In a dark brown glow Octavia disappeared and in Vynil’s hand appeared a dark brown bow with, a ball? attached to the lower part of the string, the bow was also incredibly long and the difference respect other bows is that this was wasn’t that curved, it was more like a pretty piece of wood with a string and a ball attached, this one was also purple.

From the bow Octavia’s voice spoke “well, I am a bow and I work in a similar way as Pinkie Pie, I don’t have any arrows because these are the projection of Vynil’s soul’s waves, the stronger the soul the more dangerous the arrows are, I think that with this you can already understand that we won’t run out of ammo soon.

While Octavia was finishing her talk Vynil took the string, pulled and a yellow light with an arrow resemblance shoot at an incredible speed, luckily Twilight could see this and avoided the direct hit, still the arrow perforated her left shoulder and she started bleeding, “Rarity, let’s go!” Rarity jumped transforming and taking the momentum they had Twilight shot both parts each one in a direction which Vynil avoided really easily while she bowed her head to her music. After this Twilight decided that since Octavia was more of a long range weapon the best solution would be to get close and incapacitate Vynil, the only problem was that if the projectile had to travel a shorter distance it also was pore powerful, with this both girls set a pattern, in which it was clear that Twilight loose.

“This is bad” once again Fluttershy was worrying

“Which thing because there is a lot going on” Rainbow had a relaxed posture that still allowed her to jump to action if it was necessary

“Twilight and Rarity are going to lose, I don’t want them to lose the motivation but Vynil and Octavia have the control of the battle” And with this everyone agreed, this didn’t look well.

From Twilight’s point of view she had noticed a few things, Vynil’s preference hand was the right as so it was her foot even though she could still use both, when defending she made quick moves to her back having both hands on guard and the last thing is that the ball that was attached to Octavia’s bow made sound, like rice inside of a bowl.

Twilight had to think fast, what could she do, nothing of what she discovered was useful now, think, think, THINK. “Well, I think that we’re going to finish this already, ok bud?” Finish this, what did she though? That Twilight was going to stay still waiting for the arrows to come? Now she had to dodge, she could think later. 

“Tavi, soul resonance!” a bluish-purplish light surrounded both and nothing seemed to happen, then as if nothing Vynil started pinching and pulling the string accompanying it also with small hits, this made a very rustic sound but it was pretty nice, Twilight was really concentrated in trying to focus but the music was really, dreamy, and without seeing it coming in a blink Vynil appeared behind Twilight putting the string around her neck and she could already feel that that could cut her severely. “Ga-me O-ver bud” chanted Vynil in a mocking voice. With that both weapons transformed again staying next to their partners.

“That was amazing, I felt like I couldn’t move, you are really great” you didn’t have to be a genius to know that Twilight was sad, even Rainbow noticed.

Vynil was once again nodding to her music so it was once again Octavia’s work to be the team’s voice “You also did good, if you had had more time you could have get close to us, we were just better and sadly you can not always have a lot of time. I am confident that if you two train you will improve without even noticing it” Those words were harsh but it also was what Twilight needed to hear, “I am also confident Octavia, I hope that once we improve we will able to fight again, but next time it won’t be this easy” After this Octavia and Vynil gave their byes once again and left in direction to their apartment.

After some first aid and assuring that Twilight would be okay everyone picked their things and were outside once more, Rarity proposed to go out all together but Twilight decided to go for a walk and when she looked she realised that Fluttershy had had to leave before since she wasn’t with the rest, but she sure would be okay, everyone was more capable than her, that’s for sure. From walking through the city Twilight decided to go to the forest that was near the Academy, maybe nature could help her set her mind, while she was walking through a path she saw a light that came from the top of a little mountain, she saw the same light a few more times and decided to go and see what it was.

When she got there after a long while she founded Fluttershy, sited and with her legs hanging over the cliff, “hello Fluttershy, I didn’t know you would be here”

That startled her but when she realised who it was, she gave a shy smile “hello Twilight, I just sometimes like to come here, from here you can see the sunset, it’s quite relaxing”

“And why did you leave without the others? Why didn’t you stay until the end? I mean, I know that we weren’t doing spectacular but still…”

“No, it’s not that I didn’t want to support you, it’s just that, I already knew how it was going to end, sometimes there it’s just someone who is better than you and you just have to accept, sometimes you can’t get better even if you try”

“Yeah, I know what you mean”

It’s then when an uncomfortable silence appeared but none of them seemed to know what to do or say so Twilight tried to talk about the first thing that came to her mind.

“You had a brother, right? I just expect that he isn’t older because older siblings are all the time on top of you, and they ask you all the time what you are doing and

“And they always want you to improve, and sometimes they don’t know how to say stuff and it’s super weird, and other times they can’t give you an advice when you thought they could”

“Exactly, you see? You understand this, pfft, older brothers, ha! Older siblings are really annoying”

“He, I’m the oldest but I think I understand you”

“Oh, sorry, hey but you are different, I mean I am sure that your brother is super great, he can’t be bad because he has you as his sister, I would like to meet him”

“No you wouldn’t, my brother is not nice and if you met him you would also realise that I am a failure” now the sad memories from the dream of last night came back

“Really? Do you mean that your brother is…?”

“Yes, he was going on the wrong way and I should have realised, what kind of big sister can’t realise that her brother needs help, why couldn’t I help you?”

Twilight was speechless, more because she didn’t want her friend to start crying without stop but clearly her mind was too slow “And what are you going to do?”

“I’ll go for him; I’ll stop him by any means” this time it was said with a decisive voice

“I don’t know if I could do that but I know that you must be really brave to decide to do that; ah, that must be the thing that I saw shining from down there” What Twilight was referring to was a silver necklace that Fluttershy had between her hands, it had a silver color and it had the form of a tree.

“You mean this. Yeah, I was just thinking and I must have not realised it, this is just half of the necklace, the other half is a circle that surrounds it, my brother has it although I don’t know if he still has it”

“Fluttershy, listen to me, I want you to know that I’ll support you if I can ok?” That was a kind gesture and really appreciated, when looking in front of them they saw how the sun was descending slowly, the view was truly beautiful and the company made it better, in a while they should go back home to talk to the rest and get ready but that could wait for the moment. Both girls kept talking about likes and dislikes, what they expected, and Fluttershy also mentioned how she expected Twilight to become stronger.

“Ah, Twilight, before I forget, in the information about the mission there was another detail, apparently the one who causes all that destruction always signs what they do with paint, they always write “Discord”, weird right?”

“Indeed, but sure that it’s just someone trying to flex, tomorrow everything will go fine, I know”
> Chapter 8'5 The night that should be forgotten

Before the chapter begins I want to make a little dedicatory and to tell you to read the final notes: 
I want to dedicate this chapter to Yazzi and her great sense of humour and amazing knowledge of our modern world, Queen and her sassy sense of humour that always brings a smile to my heart and Skittles who is like the eggs in a cake, keeping everything together and in its right place.


"Everything will be fine, trust me, really"
"I do trust you Twilight but maybe you should stop repeating that over and over, are YOU okay?" now this was starting to get scary since Twilight had been repeating that motto non stop.
"Yes! I am fine, of course I'm fine Fluttershy, why wouldn't I?" the nervous laugh that followed didn't help "it's just that I, well, I don't want anyone to get injured, I don't want to...to lose control of myself."

Then there was silence.

"Losing control? What do you mean?"
"Once, I was training, with Rarity, and I wanted to try something new that I had been thinking about, something new using both of our wavelenghts and Rarity told me not to, but, we had always work together and when I did that, I ended losing control and I hurt her really really bad" those were sad memories but it seemed unfair for Twilight to not open up when her friend had done so moments ago.
"But, you dind't mean to, right?"
"Of course not, it's just that I'm afraid and, we have always been together, I couldn't fight with anybody else"

Hard declarations that made Fluttershy have the worst or best idea of the day, Fluttershy was a shy person, meek, weak and doubtful of everything but she was ready to give it all to help someone else and a characteristic about her that wasn't present very often  was her stubborness, which had increased once she met her friends and just like the rest, once she had planned to help someone, she was going to do it no matter what, which lead to her following words . "Let's try"

"What?" yep, Twilight had no clue of what she meant

"Practice with me and I'll show you that you won't hurt me, that it will be okay" it would be a lie if she said that she wasn't a little scared but she wanted to do this not only for her friend but for herself.

"Are you crazy? Now? Here? You and I? That's an awful idea!"

"No, it is not, it's what you need, you believe that you may be dangerous and that you may hurt someone you don't want to, I sometimes also think that way so what's best than to try this together?"

"You don't get it, if we do that my magic could get out of control, you could even die" what the heck was she thinking?

"Well, then I decide to risk my life and trust you, I know everything will be okay, now you only need to think the same" those beautiful words were accompained by a reasuring smile and it shouldn't be forgotten that now Twilight had some curiosity about the situation, Fluttershy was rather different from her partner and in case of danger it would be beneficial to know how to fight with other people.

"Okay, let's try it, but if something starts going wrong I want you to run as far and as fast as you can"
"Yey!" that was a loud cheering sound, well, loud for her was what for others would be their stardard voice but  it was cute anyway, she would need to talk about this with Rarity, the shipping project shall rise, but that was for another moment.

They got in front of each other in a near clearing, Fluttershy was positioned right in front of Twilight and told her what she should do "Since I have many forms I think that the best would be for you to try my ninja sword, it's big enough as to be a nice weapon but you can still manage it easily"

Twilight nodded not seeing any flaw on that plan and got ready, Fluttershy got surrounded by a yellow light that rised and then fell towards Twilight's hands, she opened them and caught the handle of the sword, great, except that the weight of the sword carried Twilight to the ground.

"Fluttershy, I don't want to sound rude but you are quite heavy" while talking Twilight was trying to pull Fluttershy from the ground and lift her a little but nothing changed.

"Twilight, we should connect our souls and then it will be easy for you to lift me, it always happens with someone new" 
Seeing the mistake that she had made for not realising something so basic Twilight just blushed and nodded her head trying now to concentrate. Both Fluttershy and Twilight focused their souls to connect with each other, by doing so both of their soul representations came together.

Now a room appeared, it was a small one, two whole walls were covered in books from top to bottom, these looked old and used but they didn't hold any dust and were well preserved, in another wall there was a fireplace that wasn't lit on with a sofa for one in front, on the fourth wall there was a single dark door completely closed, the room was barely lighted since the only things that illuminated the stance were a few dispersed candles that were floating around, the room looked cold and felt like it was trapping those things that it hold but at the same it created a strange feeling of belonging.

The difference now was that, between the fireplace and the door a new space had appeared being connected by a small stone path.

In this new space there was a clearing of dirt, it hadn't had much green, the most noticeable were a group of trees growing in all directions looking sad, as if there was something avoiding them to grow and reach the sunlight, as if they desperately were trying to hold on to the small sun rays that got in the space, at the same time near the roots of a tree there was a small bunny plushie next to a small watering can with an equally small shovel, these three objects were next to a basket that hold some fabrics with some felting needles sticking out. Near the group of trees there was also a trail of a small river that seemed to origin somewhere distant to the place itself. Both places had enough light as to be able to see something but not enough as to allow anything to grow.

In the middle of both spaces there were both girls, Twilight in the room and Fluttershy in the clearing, they advanced towards each other watching exactly how the other was and they found a lot of similarities between each other's souls, they both felt sad, tired and knew that they had more problems on their inside that what could be seen on the outside,  Twilight stuck out her hand and Fluttershy gave a small smile to her friend and seeing this Twilight decided that the best was a hug, when Twilight opened her eyes she realised that now she could lift Fluttershy without problem noticing how light she truly was.

"Yey, we did it! Now let's try to cut some of those fallen branches and after that we could try with another form ok?" Fluttershy spoke with  a noticeable happiness in her voice and with this Twilight nodded once more and they started their practice.


Quite some distance away from were both girls were, a certain someone was callig her partner's name "Fluttershy! hey Fluttershy! are you here?!, ugh, were is she? She always comes to this part of the forest, maybe she went back home, ugh, why is she always so complicated?!" when she finished screaming Rainbow Dash could hear a scream coming from behind some bushes so she prepared herself, she charged her soul wavelenght on her hand and got ready to attack, "who the fuck is there? come out now or I'll make you explode!"

There was silence for some seconds and then a quiet voice answered "Rainbow?" then a pair of blue eyes appeared from behind the bush.

"Rarity? What are you doing there? And what happened to you?" Those were good questions since Rarity had branches in her hair and mud in her face "You won't believe what happened to me darling, when Twilight left I though that she would come back home shortly after that, but when she didn't I got worried so I went to look for her and I ended here,  I tried to get out of the forest but then a flock of birds started chasing me and I fell on some mud and then I got lost and now here I am" man, she looked awful AND felt awful.

"Uh, well, if you are looking to get out you could accompany me, I'm looking for Fluttershy so come along" Rainbow wasn't really sure of what she should do so she just decided to go along with it and continue her task, she could worry about that later.

"Yes please, don't leave me here on my own" with this Rarity got out of the bushes and grabbed Rainbow's shirt not letting her go too far, she didn't want by any mean to get lost once again.

"Uh, Rainbow Dash, you said that you were looking for Fluttershy right? Did something happen to her?"

"Oh no, it's just that when she is tired or needs time to think she comes to this part of the forest so she is usually here but today I wanted her to come back sooner, to make a last minute training but, since I dind't told her on the morning I came to look up for her" Rarity nooded and kept following Rainbow trying to focuss on the way they were going through and not in the path they were leaving behind.

Both girls were walking now in a right line, Rainbow looking in both directions and calling her partner's name and Rarity clinging and getting scared by every little movement that she detected.

"Hey purple curl, can I ask you something?" said Rainbow looking upwards but directing the question to the girl behind her. Ignoring the horrendous nickname that was chosen Rarity simply made an affirming sound and Rainbow continued "is it weird to be a witch and a weapon at the same time and to have a witch meister? I mean, is it different to not have a normal meister?"

Trying now to ignore the adjective normal to refer to those who weren't witches Rarity tried to answer in a calm tone "well, I have never tried to fight with anyone else who isn't Twilight and I suppose that my magic may alter some of our attacks  but I wouldn't say that a lot changes, for example, when you fought against us you used your wavelenght and that gave you enough time as to build another attack but Twilight couldn't do that, so I guess that our magic just makes things different, maybe is not as the rest  but I am proud of being with her and studying to be a weapon"

"Oh, okay" and with this Rainbow kept walking not talking again continuing her path in a very quiet way wich was not very normal for her.

"Um, Rainbow, is everything okay?"

"Yeah, why you asking?"

"Um, well, you are very quiet and that is normal due to this situation but you know, it is not so normal for you"

"I'm just thinking, I do that sometimes as well"

This took Rarity a little by surprise "Of course darling, I never said that you didn't"

"I don't smack my head against a wall all day either, just for you to know"

"Of course, I didn't mean to imply anything similar to that darling, I just meant that you well, usually you are a little more talkative"

"Yeah, sure" and with that Rainbow got quiet once again continuing both girls their path in silence, Rarity wished that she could find Twilight or Fluttershy soon because she felt like she needed support but until then she knew that Rainbow wouldn't let her get hurt so that gave her a calming feeling that she took ahold of while following Rainbow.


While these two pairs of friends were together in a small appartment another two girls were getting prepared for supper, "Hey yo' Pinkie, pass me the lettuce will ya'?"

"Coming right away AJ" setting the lettuce along with other vegetables in front of her cousin to cut them down Pinkie got close to the oven to watch what it contained "Uhhh, look Jacky, the cookies are rising really well, the girls will surely be glad that we bring these for the train travel"

Looking at her for a moment AppleJack resumed her work cutting down the vegetables for the dinner and she smiled "They sure will be sugarcube, but don't get too excited okay? Rarity and Twilight ain't used to how y'are 'kay?"

"I know silly but luckily I made enough cookies as for them to be distracted and not get too worried" said Pinkie happily while still looking at the oven and then she added very quietly but not enough as for AppleJack to not hear her "I hope that those mint cookies will get a smile from Fluttershy" and after that she giggled to herself which made AppleJack also smile knowing how much Pinkie worried for Fluttershy"

The cousins kept smiling to their own reasons, then they ate supper and after talking animatedly they made a last check of their equipment and got to bed wishing each other a good night.


Going back to the forest Fluttershy and Twilight were having the time of their life "Okay, and now launch" and then Twilight launched one scythe cutting a small brach that was sticking out of a nearby tree. "Ha! Great!" Now she was domaining the chain scythe form of Fluttershy but while she was picking the scythe she got too excited and the scythe ended hitting her on the face, luckily it didn't hurt but the metal had impacted hard on her face.

"Are you okay Twilight? You were doing great, now what you need to improve is the catching, keep going"

"He he, thanks Fluttershy, clearly your chain scythe is the form that I domain the best but let's keep trying, you know, I want to thank you truly, if you hadn't proposed this I don't think that I could have gone to sleep in peace" at the mention of this Fluttershy got transformed and put a hand on Twilight's shoulder.

"Twilight, I'm also glad to have practiced with you but you should talk about this with Rarity, sure that she would have a conversation about this with you without problem"

Getting a little separated from Fluttershy Twilight looked at the groud with a thoughtful face "I know, she is a great partner, well, she is a great person but I don't want her to be always worrying about me, I don't want to be a burden"

"I know how you feel but it's for that same reason that I'm telling you this, since I met Rainbow I could feel freer and thanks to the rest of the girls I am braver, I know that I'm better even if sometimes I save some things for me, you don't need to share everything but you should talk to her"

"You know what? You are right, Rarity is my friend and partner and I would give anything for her, I'll talk to her right when I get back, it's kind of late, I just hope that she hasn't worried a lot."

When both girls decided to get back home they heard a great noise and saw the smoke of an explosion, knowing that it was probably a demon the girls went to look since they couldn't let it get to the city and attack innocents. Once they could see what it was, they saw a huge red mass with arms so big that a finger could be as big as one of them, they realised that there was another demon, this one was smaller and seemed to be trying to take down the bigger creature but seeing how that wouldn't happen the demon decided to turn around and run being followed by the bigger one.

"Come on, let's follow them and wait until they stop" nodding, Fluttershy followed her friend having to run to catch the demons' speed.


"Um, I could swear that Fluttershy would be by here, will something have happened to her? I don't think so"

"Well Rainbow, we have been looking around for quite a while, maybe Fluttershy decided to go back home, she found Twilight and she did the same" 

"Maybe, well, let's head home then" said Rainbow with a gesture of her shoulders seeing how that was a possibility.

Right  when the both of them were going to turn back a noise was heard and by breaking several trees two demons appeared in the clearing where they were.

"Oh fuck, hey, can you fight alone? I can take down the small one but I need a distraction for that mass, my wavelenght works better if the objective doesn't move"

"What?! No! I can't fight alone, I need a meister, other way I can't fight!"

"Ughhh, for fuck's sake, okay, go look for someone, I'll need support!"

It was curious that these two didn't thought of teaming up to try and take down the demons together, Rarity started to run and got lost quickly among the trees. Rainbow jumped to take down the smaller demon knowing that after that she could center her attention and energies on the bigger one. 

"Here is were you fall down you bug!" then she launched herself towards the small demon avoiding one claw from the bigger one, Rainbow took down the demon against the ground and with one big shock made its head explode just in time to avoid another hit from the fat demon. "Ha! You know what? I don't need support, I don't need a weapon, since when goodesses have needed someone else? mwah ha ha ha!" 

With this Rainbow jumped once again deciding to shock the demon and after that crush it someway that she hadn't think of but that would be a-wesome, sadly the demon didn't had the same idea and as soon as she was on the air the demon punch her sending her flying until she was stopped by crashing with some trees, "ha, so you want to make this difficult, you bastard" Rainbow tried to get up but found this difficult to do so immediately.

"Oh gosh, what happened? I just left for like 2 minutes!" the panicked voice of Rarity allerted Rainbow Dash "what are you doing here?!" 

"I couldn't find my way out, that's why I followed you in the first place"

"Well, don't get in the middle!"

After this Rainbow tried to end the demon getting nowhere since it would over and over hit her sending her away making her injuries worse and worse.

"Okay Rainbow, I know that you told me to not get involved but maybe we should get out and look for help"

Barely being able to get off of the groud Rainbow spat out in an angry way "never! only those who are weak run away, I'll only stop when I'm dead" and with this she kept trying to get on her feet before the demon got closer but her legs didn't want to respond.

It's in that moment when a scythe appeared from among the trees capturing one of the demon's arms which turned around to look at its new attacker, a certain witch appeared from among the trees being full of energy and shouting  "Hiyaaa, this is your last attack you beast" when saying this Twilight pulled the arm at the same time that she tried to get onto an epic position but while trying to do so the demon also pulled catching the chain of the weapon and the witch at the end of it, the demon put Twilight at its eye level and Twilight was now frankly scared "I guess that you don't want to rethink your actions, do you?" sadly the demon wasn't having any of it and using the chain as a rope spinned Twilight in the air and launched both girls onto some trees, luckily Twilight realised that they were going to crash against the vegetation and stopped them in mid air flowing a little above the ground.

"Are you okay Twilight? We are lucky that you can float" said Fluttershy worried that that attack had let her companion in game over.

"I'm fine, let's end this okay?" Fluttershy gave a short approving sound and they focused on the big demon, it wasn't too fast but it was horribly strong and big, Twilight went on to try and cut one of the grotesque arms of the demon, using her mini floating abbility she went jumping and moving more fluently than usual, in a moment when the demon tried to crash them Twilight got out of the way and this time she could cut its arm, the demon protested angry and became more violent so they had to end the fight now, "Here we go" Twilight advanced until she was close to some trees making the demon trip and fall, she then captured the body with the chain and was able to cut its head in a swift motion letting only the red soul to float.

"Fiu, we did it" Twilight was completey exhausted, she usually didn't have to move so much and it was hard to try and contain her powers at the same time that she tried to addapt to Fluttershy but at the end their teamwork was effective and that was one less demon which brought a small smile to her lips feeling great, "that was great Fluttershy, we totally controled the situation"

Fluttershy transformed and also smiled feeling content of having being able to work with others and helping a friend at the same time, she was going to say something but then the dust cleared of and an angry voice shouted to them.

"So you were here eh?" Rarity didn't seem very happy, she approached in a very angry way to Twilight and started poaking at her chest while shouting, "so, I was worrying about you because I thought that you were scared or in danger and what I find is that you are having the time of your life, that's FAN-TAS-TIC Twilight Sparkle!"

"No, that's not like it, Fluttershy and I were, we were..." but she couldn't get her words out, she didn't want to explain that she had been afraid and that she feared hurting her dear friend.

"You WHAT? Speak, say something, you always say that we are a great team and now here you were fighting with someone else and for what I have seen having much more fun, am I wrong? Come on, tell me" Rarity was waiting for a response from Twilight praying that she was wrong but Twilight remained silent just lowering her head with a sad expression which made Rarity even angrier, "okay, don't speak, you never tell me anything anyway so who cares, let's go home, apparently you don't care so neither will I"

Twilight just nodded looking back at Fluttershy with an apologetical look that they shared, when she looked behind her she saw Rainbow Dash with an estoic expression looking seriously at her so she just went on in following Rarity into a new path that had been created because of the fight and from were the exit could be seen.

Rainbow on the other hand got next to Fluttershy but didn't say anything so Fluttershy took the opportunity to speak "I'm sorry Rainbow Dash, I know that you have been worried and I should have looked for  you instead of just allying with someone else, I'm deeply sorry"

Rainbow didn't react, she just looked at her, gave a small smile and said in a calm tone, "that's cool, nothing wrong ok? Let's go back home"

Fluttershy nooded but she knew that Rainbow wasn't too happy and if she could have done so, she would have run out of there since all the tension and anger of Rainbow was suffocating her in an awful way but she knew that she couldn't complain now, she hated to face her problems, that was the part that she  hated the most about having problems. They went, just like the other two girls, directly to their homes in silence, some angry, others shocked and others sad, the real question was to know who was carrying which feeling.


The following morning a group of six where on a train, four were silent and the other two were a little weird out by this. This train was practically empty since the place where they were going to was very apparted, it's for this same reason that the girls had a whole wagon for themselves, still they had chosen to sit on a double seated table which had two seats with space for three people each, on one of them AppleJack was seated right next to the window with Rainbow in front of her and Pinkie to her left, Pinkie had Fluttershy in front of her which left Twilight to Fluttershy's right and Rarity on Pinkie's left.

Rainbow was looking at the view out of the window and Rarity was ooking a little at everything inside of the wagon to avoid looking to the front, Fluttershy and Twilight on the other hand were looking to the table and occasionally to each other going back to looking at the table soon after their eyes crossed.

Pinkie and AppleJack looked at each other questioning what may have happened to this four to be like this, yesterday they were perfectly fine but today since they encountered each other in the morning those four hadn't said a word apart from a "good morning".

Not wanting to stand the silence much longer AppleJack decided to ak directly, "okay your four, what has gotten into ya'? You were alright yesterday and now you're as quiet as Winona whe she breaks something in the house and it's quite difficult for that dog to be quiet so spit it out will ya'?"

Rainbow and Rarity didn't move while the other two just moved uncomfortably on their sits without saying a word, Pinkie tried to test her luck this time, "come on girls, you can't be angry at each other, that's wrong, friends shouldn't fight and look, if you tell us what's wrong we will help you and I'll give you a cookie, what do you say to that?" Pinkie had got almost on the table showing a great smile to the four but seeing a similar reaction than before the smile on her eyes started to fade and the one on her lips started to turn upside down.

It's when Pinkie decided to sit down that Rainbow spoke "I don't want any cookies, I'm not hungry" and Rarity decided to reprise "I don't any cookies either, thank you very much, but maybe you shouldn't ask us but Twilight who was having a GREAT time yesterday" the last words had a lot of sarcasm and resentment and brought some tears to Twilight's eyes, she didn't cry though.

"We don't want to talk about it, there's nothing to talk about, we should take this time to rest before the mission" Fluttershy tried then to distract the attention and direct it to their mission hoping that that would be enough to start a conversation and leave the subject of last night behind, not having the desired reaction Rarity got up and walked to the front of the train telling that she wanted to see if there was anything important, Rainbow jumped on the table and went to the back part of the train wthout saying anything, Twilight also got up and seemed to want to go after her weapon but she seemed to rethink it and instead chose to seat on the table next to the one where she was firstly seated hiding her head in her arms while looking away.

This let Pinkie and AJ more confused on the table and Fluttershy even sadder looking to be at the verge of crying but it seemed that Twilight had won and was already crying, Fluttershy tried to keep her tears from falling and gave a timid smile, or try of smile, to Pinkie while asking, "Pinkie, could you give me a cookie?, I know that I haven't tell you anything but that cookie would really help me right now"

Pinkie nooded and got the tin of cookies, so fast that she almost throws it and lets it fall, she caught it before it could and offered one that Flutteshy took thanking her in the process, then silence was almost the only thing that could have been heard if it hadn't been for Twilight's cries, this was going to be a really long travel and a really really long mission, that was clear.
