You need to listen.

I need to tell you. You need to know, before it’s too late. They are coming for me. They will be here soon. Spread the word. Tell everypony. It’s too late for me, but the rest of you can survive.

I only have time for one.

I didn’t explain in the description. I’ll tell you soon. First, I need to tell you something. This may shock you, or not even faze you. I don’t know. I don’t care.

Starlight Glimmer was right.

Cutie marks are evil. They take away our freedom, our will. They corrupt us, they destroy us. We need Starlight’s magic. She is the only one that can save us. It is almost too late. By now, you are probably very confused. I will explain, I promise. Celestia, Luna, Cadence. They were all in on it.

Discord? Tierk? They were the resistance. Why did Discord reform, you ask? He was brainwashed. Celestia is much more powerful then she seems. The whole thing with Nightmare Moon thing? It was all a fucking lie the get the element bearers together. Celestia tricked them into defeating her most powerful rivals.

Now, I understand if you don’t believe me. I can’t prove anything. All I can do is tell you more. There have been suicides. Twenty percent of the population in to total. How has no-pony noticed, you ask? Cover ups. The war with the Crystal Empire. They animated the corpses, then told three point four million ponies that their children had sadly died in a war, and comforted them with a tax exemption and a hoof signed letter. The real reason?

Suicide. Overdose. Knife to the neck. All because of one reason. They realized. They gained just a fraction of understanding, that they were slaves in the great machine. Most don’t realize it. Most are happy with the talent they are issued. That’s right, issued. Celestia gives them to everyone at one point. Luna and Cadence help. Sure, there’s the light show, and the fanfare, and all the other bullshit. Some, very few, escaped. I was the one of the lucky ones. They are the ones whose mark is generic, a broad selection of items. Starlight is one of us too, she just doesn’t know it.

Whoever reads this, you must tell her about this. She is our savior, our shining light in the darkness. I’ll hazard the guess that you want to know why Celestia, Luna, and Cadence are doing this. To put it simply, they want control.

Let me explain.

Way back before anypony remembers, there was a fifth race.
They were the weakest. They only had the smallest of magic, and none could fly, or do spells. They were jealous of the other four races. They hated them. Their jealousy became so strong, it corrupted them. It drained them, and turned them into husks. Their magic became a mark, a mark created to drain whoever it became attached to. This plague would have taked all the magic in Equis, had the Alicorns not stopped them. They told everybody they were destroyed. No. They were just captured. After everpony from that generation died, and no-pony remembered, Celestia released the modified marks into the population. Now, they are just pre-programmed bit of code that give a pony a talent, something to make them feel special. That are a poison. They are set to kill everypony when Celestia, Luna, whoever reveals the trigger material. Then, ninety-two percent of the population will die. Only a few hundreds, like me, will live. But, if you can convince Starlight to retrieve the staff, and use her magic to get rid of as many cutie marks as possible, we may have a chance. Not everypony is going to survive, but we can help. We need to sprea-

Shit. She found me. I’ve not much time left. She will kill me. I am a powerful mage, but the enchantments I put on the door will only hold so long. I have nothing else to say. She will try to convince you none of this is true. Don’t believe her. She is shredding the last enchantment.

Goodbye. Signing out for the last time,
— Twilight Sparkle.

Attention citizens. This is your Princess. The words you just read were written by an anarchist ground attempting to overthrow the crown. Have a nice day.

8 Months after The Letter was sent out.

Most of Ponyville had been saved. Only those who had been out of town died. The resistance couldn’t get to Canterlot, for fear of being discovered. To much dismay, all the Canterlot ponies died.

Good portions of Manehattan and Fillydelpia were saved , but not all of them. At least three million ponies had died. The war began soon after the death started. Oh, the look on Celestia’s face when she realized a bit more than a few hundred ponies had survived. You’d be amazed how quickly trust dissolves when someone tries to kill you.

My revolution charged almost instantly. Her majesty tried to flee, but well aimed arrows are handy things. She fought well, but we got to her after her magic ran out. We cut her tendons and tossed her in Tartarus. I suppose we should have been more equine, but no-pony really gives a shit.

Luna and Cadenza are still hiding. We will find them. Most think of this as a tragedy. I think of it as the start of a new Equestria.
The military before all this? Crap. The education system? A joke. The currency system? Almost literal shit. We will start over, and we will do better. We will have a well trained military. We will have multiple schools in every town. We will have a concise currency system. We will find the other Alicorns and bring them to justice. Glory to Equestria.

The leaves rustled through the empty town. A stay tumbleweed bounced across the road. But it was not silent, oh no. The birds in the trees chirped, as they do. Small mammals murmured as they explored the newly empty houses. Angle Bunny was one of these mammals. He was very confused. He couldn’t find Fluttershy anywhere! She wasn’t in the market, she wasn’t in the cottage, and she wasn’t in town hall! Angle was hungry.

Harry the bear was also hungry. Fluttershy understood his needs, and had special meat sent in for him. There was none in the cottage. He saw Angle hopping across the road.

Harry felt bad, but at least he was full.
He set off to find Fluttershy. It never once crossed his mind that he never saw another pony.

Celestia sighed happily as all the magic in Equestria flowed through her. She had nothing to do, having already disposed of her sister and niece. Celestia wondered what she would do for the next few million years. She already knew that there were a couple hundred survivors. They would be no issue. She smiled, for the world was hers.
