Don't you just... love how a good song can create... gloriously magnificent... inspiration

A/N As I was trying to go to sleep my brain went "no, you write now"

I can't remember...

The mare woke with a splitting headache, the light to bright, and not a memory to find in her head. She felt a slight sting in her side, a notice that her wing wanted her to get off of it, and so she stood. She shook her head to try and clear it, only to stop as her horn struck something.

Lifting her head she saw a table on its side, the item her horn had struck. Looking around the room she saw the entire place was a wreck. Tables and chairs strewn about the place, a bar she thought. But something felt off, she couldn't place it aside from it was something to do with her right eye. Across the room from her she saw a curiosity, a mirror.

She walked toward it to look at herself, maybe get an idea of what her name was. In the mirror she saw her broken reflection with pieces missing from it. She saw an alicorn, but that was already obvious to her. What wasn't was that her coat was lavender, she had a dark navy mane that was messy and unorganized with multiple streaks of pink an violet in it, her tail matching her mane.

She tilted her head to the side so that she could see her right eye. What she saw was a scar running from the base of her horn to the bottom of her chin, right through her eye which had clearly been cleaved in half and improperly healed with magic. It was an orb of milky white, her iris on the two halves misaligned by a centimeter.

Unsure if that was new or old she let it be, and she still was unable to remember her name.

Taking a closer look around the bar it looked like a struggle had happened. Only long ago as there was black dust everywhere, her hoofprints and where she was laying the only clear spots.

She decided to think, to try to figure out what had happened. Starting with her eye.

She sat and thought for an unknown amount of time. No one came into the bar and no one left.

She suddenly heard a sound like breaking glass and turned quickly to face the mirror. Only to find it unchanged.

Then her vision went black...

She was standing in a city. Large white towers lined with gold surrounded her, it was peaceful...

Serene.

But then the silence was broken by a war cry.

Turning to face it all she saw was cyan fur and a flash of steel, and her binocular vision was once again monocular.

And she woke

When she woke she found her hooves clutching her head as if in agony. Her headache worse.

But she gained a memory, an idea of what might have happened. So she walked to the door, went outside, and froze at what she saw....

What happened...

She saw the city from her regained memory, but it was in ruins. The same black dust from the bar covered the street almost entirely. The buildings crumbling and stained with marks.

She turned her head in the direction her instincts told her the castle was, and saw nothing but ruins. Looking back at the building she came out of she saw that it was just barely held together.

Unknowing what to do she began to walk in a random direction, guided solely by instinct, her curiosity running rampant.

She had to find out what had happened.

After several hours of walking she saw nothing but more ruins, rubble, and black dust. That was until she got to a poorly lit avenue with very little wind. She saw a silhouette down the street.

Walking down the surprisingly clean street she started talking when she got within hearing range. "Hello, can you tell me w-what happen...." She trailed off as she got closer seeing that the silhouette was not a pony, or at least not anymore. It was a collection of black dust and ash.

She decided to take a closer look at her surroundings, and noticed several other ash and dust statues. Then she noticed that the rubble surrounding her was not stained black, but were pieces of other statues that had begun to fall apart. A leg here, a head there, horns, wings, tails, and bodies... bodies.

"Oh...oh no. This is worse than what I thought." The lavender alicorn said.

A small flash of memory and the statue before her was temporarily replaced with a butter yellow pegasus with a pink mane and tail.

She reached out to caress the figure, but when she touched it the left side of its face fell away. and it took her conciseness with it.

She was running.

She could hear a number of others running with her.

"We have to stop her!" One of them shouted.

"She's going to kill us all!" Shouted another.

In the city square there stood a pony, a cyan pegasus with wings spread. "NO!" The pegasus yelled. "I AM GOING TO SAVE YOU ALL!!! Ahaha AHaha AHaHahAHahaAHaHaHaHAHaAh"

She had to stop her. The pegasus was her love, her life. But she couldn't let her do this. So she lunged slashing her sword and... There was a flash of light from the other ponies horn. But... but she was a pegasus. Wasn't she?

After the flash, the memory, started over.

In September.

She was standing in the center of the city. She-no Twilight Sparkle was standing in the middle of the city, preparing to cast a spell.

Then Twilight heard hooves pounding on the pavement, so she turned to face the running ponies.

Twilight saw five ponies, in the lead was a cyan pegasus with a rainbow colored mane and tail carrying a long sword. Rainbow Dash.

To the right were another pegasus and a unicorn, the pegasus butter yellow with a pink mane and tail. Fluttershy. The unicorn white with a purple mane and tail. Rarity.

To the left were two earth ponies, one orange with a blond mane and tail. Applejack. The other pink with a darker pink mane and tail. Pinkie Pie.

"We have to stop her!" Shouted Rarity.

"She's gonna kill us all!" Applejack shouted

"NO!" Yelled Twilight. "I AM GOING TO SAVE YOU, I'M GONNA SAVE YOU ALL!!! Ahaha AHaha AHaHahAHahaAHaHaHaHAHaAh"

Then Rainbow Dash lunged, bringing her sword down on Twilight's head. She felt it cleave into her, just below her horn, and trough her eye.

Twilight, without breaking the perpetration of her spell, cast a wave of force out to knock Rainbow back. She then quickly put up a shield to protect herself, and a rudimentary healing spell to keep from bleeding out. "You'er too late!" Twilight said with unmasked pain

And with a flash of light, it was done.

When Twilight's conciseness returned to her she was in the city square, the center of the city.

Around her, in the spots they were in when the spell was cast, were four ash and dust statues.

One with a stetson that some how escaped the spell, one miraculously suck in mid air. The last two holding each other and cowering.

Twilight looked upon the statues for awhile, just staring. She then walked up to each on of them and...

Scattered them to the winds. She then looked up at the sky, the twilight sky. "I'm the one who killed them all." Twilight said in a singsong fashion. "I survived after the fall."

It started as a smile, that smile became a giggle, the giggle a chuckle, the chuckle a laugh, and that laugh slowly became more and more manic until it was obvious she was no longer sane.

She never heard the slow clip-clopping of hooves approaching. The unsheathing of a blade.

She felt a pain sink into her back, that pain continued til it breached the front of her barrel. Twilight looked down at the red and silver object protruding from her. Then she felt it begin to slide back out, twisting back and forth as it did so.

It felt... exhilarating. Twilight couldn't help but let out a moan of pleasure as it twisted.

When the blade left her body she fell limp to her right side. From behind her walked a cyan pegasus with a rainbow mane carrying a broken sword with her wings. "Look at whats become of us." Said Rainbow Dash her voice scratchy and heavily damaged by smoke. "You laughing about the death of everyone, and me, stabbing others in the back. Literally." She them sighed. "You know, I've always loved this time of day."

She then turned her face to Twilight, revealing the previously hidden left side of her face. Which was blackened and scared. her left eye nothing more than a white orb of scar tissue. Her cheek almost completely missing, showing the teeth underneath. "I used to say the same about you." She then turned fully to Twilight showing her scars run all the way down the left side of her body. Her left wing nothing more than bone, muscle, and chard skin.

"I would talk to Fluttershy all the time about you, and she would always talk to me about Rarity." She continued, tears staring to drip from her right eye, but not the left. Her damaged voice becoming even more horse. "I know you can heal that wound I gave you, so please, do so. I-I don't want t-to be a-alone" She begged. "P-please, I-I'll do anything just don't leave me alone again" She was full on sobbing now, the right side of her face soaked in tears while the left remained dry. Her one working eye closed while the muscles around the other twitched attempting to do the same.

Rainbow fell to her barrel and continued to beg. "D-don't leave m-me, my love."

It was a long and quiet silence before she got her response...
