Manehatten city members built a steamship just three years before the bombs hit Equestria. When they did the ship took off away from the mega spells. Now the after years and years the ship powers up again, and a new story for the small steamship
Before all hope was lost, before mostly all life on Equestria land was lost. A new begin was growing and building. Over in Manehatten hundreds of stallions and mares built something great. Something that would protect, something that would keep all ponies like home, something that would always keep them together. After months it was finally compete, and ponies look at the work. A Steamship that was large, had the most strongest steel. The ship had everything it need for living on the ship for many years. The ship was built two years before Equestria would be a complete wasteland. So the ship was kept in hiding from everypony, and everyone. Then it happen, the mega spells drop onto Equestria, everypony was at the docks. The steam ship came and park near the dock. Ponies were climbing onto the ship with everything they had. Fouls, and elders were walking up onto the ship, some ponies had tears in there eyes, and some were relieved the made it onto the ship. But not all ponies were in the ship, the dock was still full of ponies, but the captain at that time could only carry in a maximum limit. The ship took off into the middle of the ocean and that was that. Long years have past and the steam engine made a click then a roar as the engine was starting up, coal was being escorted down into the burner. The ship was on the move again, and a continue of the steamship had begun.
A holotape was being played on a terminal as the audio began to play and a Stallion voice was heard. He had a rough but firm voice. "Captain Alaskan Wailer, Your orders from the Princesses are to steer and land at the Docks of Manehatten. Have only the maximum of the three hundred ponies on board onto the Steamship. After that close the plank bridge down immediately, and sail off hundreds of miles away from Equestria. Then never ever sail back to Equestria lands or near Manehatten's docks again. You are to remain the ship at the location at all times." There was a sigh after the stallion just gave out all the orders. After three seconds of silents the stallion began to speak again. "May you and the ponies that get on board your ship have safety. This is Shinning Armor, Prince of the Crystal Empire. Be safe on your travel."
The audio ended, and the holotape ejected automatically out of the terminal. A hoof reach over and picked up the holotape from the terminal and began to move it away from the desk. Then a microphone was being place on the side of the desk and plug onto the terminal. Next a new holotape was inserted into the terminal, as it was starting up, then on the terminal screen was words that said "recording". Then a pony lean in close to the microphone and began to speak.
"This is Alaskan Wailer, Captain of Steamship Lolly. The ship has arrived at our location, it only been two days since we left the docks of Manehatten. Our location is well in the middle of the ocean...Middle of nowhere. The ship was also able to hold down after the blast, and the radiation wasn't able to get through inside the ship, so ponies down inside the ship were just fine, also my workers on the ship. Me though well i made to stay up on inside the captain's deck with rad proof walls around it, and a couple of oxygen filters inside here. I was able to keep the ship in balance after the blast, and keep myself safe inside the room. I also brought a gas mask after we left those ponies behind, i felt bad for leaving almost half of Manehatten's population to just die against the mega spells. I had no choices, i was ordered to bring only three hundred onto the ship. Well i guess i should tell then since i brought that up. I should tell how Miss Lolly was born."
" Upon almost a year on constructing the Steamship, we were led to building it by myself, and couple of high powers. Princess Celestia, and Princess Luna. By the Steamship in helping was Stable Tec. They put down new things like indoor gardening, and water purifiers inside the ship. My dream was coming true, as a foal i always wanted this to happen. I just knew that me telling Stable Tec this would put there minds on it, and having a second talk with them. They finally agreed to tell the Princesses about it. When i checked on the ship i saw ponies in lab coats, they had the cards on their coats with words of their names, and something else. Ministry of Arcane Science, they were here so they can have a research inside my own ship. I just told them to buzz off my ship and away from the dock where we were hiding the ship. Near the end, i had bunch of papers to sign, and send off to the Princesses. Mostly for agreements and laws to past down, just so much work.
"It was around that day where the mega spell exploded in Manehatten, in the morning we had info that Cloudale was hit by Megaspells. That's when Shinning Armor sent a message threw my advance terminal, i recorded what he said onto my holotape i have here. I got onto the ship just in time and let the workers let ponies in, guards were already at dock keeping the ponies controlled as one by one ponies were getting onto the ship. Once that the guards just told me to set off into the ocean. It was my second time i drove the ship and the second time the ship was drove. i was afraid the ship might break down, but with luck the ship began to move and i was relieve that the ship was moving down towards the ocean. As i was miles away from Manehatten i heard a big boom from miles away behind the ship. I didn't turn around since i knew what just happen. The ship was rocking to the right and i had to keep the ship in balance and good thing it was able to do so. Now i just had to get to the location."
"That's that, Like i said it's been two days and ponies are starting to walk around the inside of the ship to get comfy. But soon tomorrow there going to be work, and tomorrow is the whole new life." There was a click on the spacebar of the terminal and Alaskan takes the holotape out of the terminal ,and puts it in his jacket. Alaskan the young stallion with dark blue mane walks out of his room to get some alone time on the deck on the ship. As he see's in his view nothing but ocean for miles and miles around him and his own ship.
It's been over hundred years after the Great War, and after the Mega spells have been drop. Life on the Steamship was going actually well for the ponies that stayed there. Mostly everyday ponies would have to work as technician for most part, as in fixing generators, and checking on the small windmills on the deck that produces the power. Ponies get lots of clean water from the water purifier down inside the ship. The ship also had its nice indoor garden which it grow all of the ponies food they needed. The ship also contained a classroom for the foals, as the teacher now running it was Mrs. Jennysprings, a nice old mare with always a good mood, and smile on her face. The ship had mostly everything you would ask for, it was like the ship was its own tiny town inside.
Now the Ship ran into problems in the past but nothing to serious for residents on the ship. Alaskan set up rules on the ship and kept on setting them for years until he then past away at age ninety-one. He just died in his sleep, as his time was up. Mostly now the new Captain of the ship was Larkhoover Wailer. He wasn't the best captain, but tries to follow in his father's hoof steps. Rules on the ship were set on line, and those rules were made by the first Captain himself. Rules were, only eating at current times, working everyday, if sick please see the doctor, and more. Ponies just indeed just follow the rules, or they might get in trouble but nobody on the Lolly Steamship has even got in trouble, Well not seriously in trouble to say.
Finally our story begins for the Steamship with a teen stallion in lower level of the ship.Inside engine room making new bolts and screws with hundreds of years old of steel. He one of the best Technician's on the ship so far, and always there when every resident needed him. The residents just call him Timothy Tim, or Timothy Tinker, or short Tim. Timothy was born in the ship just like everypony else, and he also wasn't always social with the other foals during is foalhood. Tim would always help his own mother to fix the clock in there residential room. That's when he got interested the technician stuff around the ship. He fix pipes, fix bolts outside the ship, and screwing the loose pipes. Timothy was just that good, then he thought of himself to be the best technician on the ship. Tim though couldn't work with high level technician's due to the age, and didn't complete school yet. He had only a few days left and he could work for the technician's. Then he would be more better at technician stuff.
After Timothy made the first two screws, and bolts he went onto his terminal to check out of work. When suddenly Tim heard hoof steps walking into the engine room. He turn to the stairs and there was Timothy classmate slash crush of his life. Abigailsweets, the pretty red mane, and long brownish dark hair, with the blue streak line running down her left side of her hair was walking down the steps and then finally reaching the last step. Timothy wasn't all that great looking himself but just a normal light purple mane unicorn, with a blue cape on his head, and had that darkish purple spike wave hair. Tim was usually good also with terminals too, and always knows the easy way to get into a terminal, by using his smart brain. Abigailsweets was a unicorn to, and always worked at the garden, and always makes sweet applepies. That's why ponies call her sweet, since she makes very sweet Applepies once a year.
"Hey Timothy." Abigailsweets looked at Tim with a smile on her face. She always brings a smile to everypony in class, and to Timothy as well. Tim wave his hoof while sitting on a stool.
"H-hey Abigail" Tim said with a little bit of shyness of his voice. Why oh Tim always was shy around Abigailsweets, since in foalhood he always had a crush on her. A deep crush actually, cause Tim always thought of her as just the perfect mare for him. He doesn't stalk her though but always writes about her in parts of his diary. Tim and Abigail are friends and usually hangout with the rest of resident foals for lunch. Oh boy all the time when colts see Tim and Abigail together for to long they would comeover and talk to Abigail mostly. Timothy didn't care mostly since Abigail as always been single for her life, not really interest in the classmates, but Tim seeing Abigail here in front of his eyes in the engine room, which surprise him since Abigail and him would always hangout during lunch, was now just the two of them by themselves.
"Hey um, so after class you left your diary on your desk." Abigail pulled out a book with a key lock on the side also on the front of the book it said "Diary", and pre war stickers. One of stickers being a powerarmor pony holding the Equestria flag, while the others were just random. Timothy took gently the diary back off of Abigail hoofs.
"O-oh thank you Abigail." Tim said "I thought my diary was in my bag" He let out a small giggle. Abigail giggled to a bit, then Timothy let out a blush, as both of them just stare awkwardly at eachother. Then Abigail broke the silents and said.
"Well i better get going or my mother would totally flip out on where i been." Abigail wave her hoof at Tim as she began to walk up the steps. Timothy shout out.
"Wait!" The mare stop in the middle of the staircase looking down at stallion which Tim was now getting off the stool. Tim cheeks were turning red now. "i was wondering if maybe you wanted to walk around the deck area of the ship before class started." There was another few seconds of silence and Abigail had a blush on her face but nod.
"Yeah totally, i would be interested." Tim heart was pumping like a roaring train engine after she said that. Abigail smiled and walked up the stairs and out of Tim's sight. Timothy sat back on the stool leaning back but leaning to back and falls off the stool hitting his back.
"Ow" Tim said lying down on metal floor looking up at the ceiling. "A walk around the deck with Abigailsweets." he said to myself he was daydreaming of her. Then quickly snap out of it as he had to hurry to deliver the bolts and screws to the deck, to the higher technician's. He grab them and rush up flights of stairs to finally he reach the top deck.
Timothy walked along with the side of the boat to get to the technician's working on the windmill's. Tim saw the windmills as the fans were still moving with the calm moving winds blowing down west, but he also saw a group of ponies in the middle of the deck as usual practicing what's its like to be a Equestria solider. They run, punch sandbags, jumping over crates, and lifting crates on their backs, and more. Timothy didn't want to join the guards in, it was lame to him, and plus half of the group of guards were just jerks. There leader was just a more commanding stallion, more bossy like Tim thinks of him. Timothy reach over to the technician's and hand over the bolts and screws they needed.
"Where were you Tim?" one of technician's asked Tim shrug and smiled a bit
"Well i had a little caught up on homework sorry guys" Tim said seeing the technician give a nod.
"Alright well don't be late again ok?" Timothy was already walking away and he turn his head to give a nod as he walked to the steel door and head back down to the bottom level of ship.
It was getting late out, light were dying down and residents were rushing back to there rooms. Tim was rushing then suddenly and accidentally bump into a pony. The pony stood up quick and raise a hoof. "im so sorry Tim." Tim grab the pony's hoof and got up.
"Ah Beetlespring, Its ok." Tim said rubbing his hoof. Beetlespring the pony that help Tim up was a darkish yellow pony with front spread and long blue hair, he had also hazel eyes. Bettlespring and Tim are friends to, mostly close friends. Beetle would in foalhood protect Timothy from being bullied at school. But now things settle with Tim and no longer was he bullied. They were also both the same age as eachother.
"Well i better get going." Beetle said rushing past Timothy and into his room. Timothy got to his room on time and let himself him, having a quite dinner with the same dinner on Friday's Siltbean soup. Timothy rested on the couch for the night and fell asleep for the next day and hopefully have some time with Abigail tomorrow morning.
By now it was morning, the sun was not showing but just clouds up in the sky. Sky wasn't blue as always just the look it was just life of grey. Most some morning there would thunderstorms and waves hitting onto the ship, however the ship was made to keep a very good balance, and also be able to hold on. Manehatten workers knew how to put good work, mostly they did all the work though, but Stable Tec was able to help with the supplies the ship needed.
So morning as it came, oh Timothy got up early this morning. He made himself a quick soup, and had a apple as well. He got dress into his jacket, pants, and put on his blue cap, and went out of his room in a hurry. Class was going to start in a hour but Tim knew that just a stroll around the deck would be nice. For why he wanted to take a stroll around the deck, well in him loosing his diary, then getting the mare of his life to bring it to him. Then asking her out for a walk around the deck, pretty much is why Timothy was out now on the deck.
As Tim shut the steel door behind him, he looked around on the deck of the ship to see the normal higher level technician's still working on that broke down windmill. No guards were around so that was a relieve for Tim, but he looks to the right side of the deck was he saw her. Abigailsweets was leaning onto the rail, looking over the ocean. Now Timothy had thinking going on in his mind, mostly a lot of things coming into his mind. About what to say to her, how to greet her, and well why was she here earlier then him. Timothy saw that she was looking out towards the ocean, and she always did like to look out to see the ocean. Abigail would do it a little often everyday, and Tim knew that cause he would always see Abigail looking out of the steamboats windows during class. Timothy probably knew why she was staring out to the ocean, maybe just likes to look a the ocean water he thought.
Timothy approach just closely to the side of Abigail. Abigail didn't see him coming but when Tim got close it made Abigail turn her head towards Tim. She had that smile again and Timothy just let out a blush on his face again.
"Hey Tim." Abigail said now looking fully at Timothy now. Timothy raise his mouth but no words would come out. He was to shy, Tim felt his mind talking to him or something.
"Oh come on Tim, she right there just say hi back for crying out loud." his mind was saying. Timothy was to nervous to say a thing to her now. He was so distracted on what to say. Then he heard a voice and he got snap back out of his mind, and back into reality.
"Timothy?!" Abigail said a little loud. Then Timothy finally spoke.
"Sorry, Hi Abigail." he spoke quick and smiled. Abigail look at him with a look, just that look where somepony would try to study what's going on. Suddenly Abigail let a smile out cross her face.
"It's alright." she let out a giggle then moves her front hoof's away from the rail, and facing directly at Timothy now.
"So, shall we just take a walk around the deck." Abigail said, as she look to Tim. Timothy nod his head slowly still in nervous mode but his heart was beating like a train engine again.
"S-sure." and with that Abigail began to walk down the side of the deck, as Tim quickly followed beside her as they began to have there nice stroll round the steamship.
They had pleasant conversations both Timothy Tim and Abigailsweets. The thirty minutes of them talking about foalhood, and to talking about soups they get every Friday. Tim was enjoying it mostly as he always wanted to have time alone with Abigail. Timothy would always never forget this moment he would say.
At the end Timothy and Abigail were on the same rail of the deck looking down at the ocean together. Timothy lean onto the rail and looked at the ocean, there was just miles and miles of ocean and nothing else but cloudy clouds above and around. Timothy now wanted to ask a question to Abigail and spoke up to her.
"So you, always out looking at the ocean?" Abigail glance over at Timothy then back at the ocean.
"Yes, everyday i like to look over at the ocean" Abigail took a breath. "But not mostly to look out to the ocean, but just to think." Tim look over with that questionable look on his face.
"What do you think?" Timothy ask. Abigail looked over, and fell to a warm smile.
"I been thinking that we ponies can do more."
"More?" Tim ask tilting his head a little to the side.
"What i mean is, that we should be going out to see land and Equestria. Alaskan told our parents the story of Equestria." Abigail continue. "There so much i want to see, I want to explore."
"How would you explore if your stuck on the ship." Tim ask.
"How?, i don't know. I know all ponies can't leave the ship, and Larkhoover is not going to let the pegasus fly out of the ship no more." Abigail sigh and looked over the ocean.
"Your right about that, no pony can leave the ship. Captain Larkhoover won't even start up the steamship and head over to Equestria."
They both gave a silent moment looking over at the ocean. Tim also thought about Beetlespring, he was a pegasus but wasn't allowed to fly inside or outside of the ship. Mrs. Jennysprings wasn't able to, and not even others weren't allowed to fly. Tim hated that part of the rules but though he can't leave the ship, but what if Abigail was right. He thought to himself for a moment, what if there was more that we could of done. What if traveled for once, what was the big deal of staying in one exact place for the rest of the ponies life's here. This wasn't right, as Tim thought more, there could be a change. But Tim had thought about the technician life. If they did go to this land Equestria, what would his technician skill take him. Would there be other ponies out there in Equestria. No maybe not, the story that Alaskan told was that the mega spells could of wipe out all pony life.
Abigail turn to Tim once more. "Ponies don't deserve to be down inside a ship for long. They need to walk on soil for the first time." that mare got off the rail and walked away. "Thanks for the walk Tim." She went back inside the lower level of the ship, out of Tim's sight. Timothy was still on the deck, he was looking towards the ocean. He heard behind him the guards training on the center of the deck, but all of what Tim was thinking about was Abigail's words.
"Timothy Tim." a voice that sound close to Tim's ear made Timothy turn around to see Captain Larkhoover standing on his four hoofs behind Tim. Larkhoover was kinda short for a adult stallion, but though he was Captain, and son of Alaskan Wailer. He had that bush beard and darkish orange mane with curly dark hair. He always wear that fancy captain's outfit around him. He looked pretty mad and always tired looking every morning, always working in that little captain's office.
"Yes sir?" Tim said in a reply. Lark lean over to him and cleared his throat.
"Sorry but you need to get off my deck and head to class." he grin and Tim nod. He didn't want to get a hoof kick to the flanks, at least what Tim thought he would do to those that didn't get to class. Tim just in time got to class and got out is late homework.
It's been a week and finally the classmates finish there final day of education. The classmates all cheer and began to celebrate by having a large dinner. Everypony residents was there serving the soups and vegetables. They all gotten happy and on the deck as they were all celebrating there. There were no alcohol for the older ponies to drink but they did have a good time with the music. Including Beetlespring tapping his back hoofs on the steel floor of the deck, while having a banjo in his front hoofs playing some good music.
Timothy was there to listening and laughing to see his good friend Beetle at the banjo again. Tim would always like hearing Beetlespring playing that banjo. It's like Beetle likes to never stop playing his father's banjo, and he also never wants anypony else touching his favorite banjo. Everypony was clapping there front hoof's, they all love the music from Beetlespring.
Just near the end of Beetlespring fun time music there was a loud voice from behind, but the music kept playing. Timothy did turn to hear the loud voice, and saw two armed guards, and Larkhoover marching up from behind the crowd that Bettlespring made. Beetlespring saw Larkhoover and began to stop as Lark shouted again. All ponies looked over to Lark and the two armed guards as ponies step away a bit. Timothy began to think of why he brought two guards and very much armed with battlesattles. But Timothy was in his mind knew that this was some trouble news that Lark was going to bring, and it was indeed trouble.
"Ah yes, i have all your attention now." Everypony nodded even Beetlespring nodded and putting his banjo down. Timothy was on the other side of the crowd so he mostly was far back.
"Now i'm sorry to ruin the celebration for you graduated ponies. But we have a couple of serious problems now. One of the problem's is that just as the celebration was going on, one of the technician's just discover a huge break down to the waterpurifier. Just within minutes the waterpurifier quickly fell to radiation. It is now impossible to fix, since it need's to be fix on the outside of the ship. Second we are loosing our steel, meaning our steel scraps are almost done with." Everypony on this point was looking down, and ponies gasp on hearing all of this. Larkhoover continued. "This ship won't last another few more weeks stallions and mares. Without the steel we need, we can't build the bolts, or screws, and not be able to fix the windmill's. Will loose power, the lost of our plants to grow our food, and no clean water." Timothy was shock at this point, Technician's thought they didn't use that much steel and supplies. Lark began to look over at Beetlespring that was in front of the crowd of ponies.
"Somepony was near the purifier when the radiation began to spread out. Your mother Beetlespring is now with Dr. Oaklen now in his room. I'm sorry." Beetlespring stood up having one tear on the right side of his eye. He began to hurry and run down the towards the steeldoor to the lower levels. All Timothy heard from him as Beetlespring screamed while running.
"MOTHER!." was all he scream out as he reach the lower level of the ship as his voice faded down the lower level.
Dr. Oaklen was taking blood samples for the morning as lied on the bed was Beetlespring's mother, just on the patient bed. Beetlespring was watching through the window to see his mother on the other side. His mother wasn't moving but the Doctor told him that she was in a sleep. Mostly Dr. Oaklen describe this radiation to be to dangerous, and that nopony else should step inside the room, for the safety of them not catching the this radiation disease. The disease would cause a overheating, and random body part failures. That's all the doctor could describe for now, but mostly he said that this was rare. Meaning that the disease wouldn't be around as often, but most of the radiation that was clogged inside the purifier was to much.
Just then Larkhoover came right next to Timothy and Tim looked over to him.
"Timothy Tim, i need to have a word with you." Lark said looking over at Timothy.
"Alright Captain." Timothy nod as he said that as the captain walked away to the corner down the hall. Timothy pat Beetlespring's back and Timothy walked away to meet the Captain in private.
"I'm sorry about your friend, and-" Captain was going to continue but Tim spoke very serious and little loud.
"Captain the ship, what we going to do, all the ponies will die here without any food, no clean water." Larkhoover now putted on a serious look on his face, and lowered his eyes.
"Timothy i know this looks bad, but this might be the end for our ship." Larkhoover turn away down the hallway.
"The end? that's it...the end? no...no way, we are not dying in this ship Captain." Timothy walked up beside Lark, his eyes were shut close. There was a three second pause then Tim spoke again.
"What about that land, Equestria. Surely we can get enough supplies from Equestria." Lark turned to Timothy to give him a glare, then putting his head down.
"Oh...your right Timothy, i can't listen to my father warnings anymore. Tim i think your right, this old ship needs a lot of repair." Larkhoover walked down the hall. Timothy just stood watching him walk down the hallway.
"Timothy?" Lark stop and turn his head to Tim.
"Yes Captain?" Lark reach a hoof down inside his captain jacket and threw some keys at Timothy as Tim caught them using his telekinesis.
"start up them engines." Lark opened a steel door which leaded to the stairs to get to the deck of the ship. Timothy knew what he went and quickly began to run down the stairs, passing each corner of halls and making it down the last level of the ship. There stand in front of Timothy was a large steel door with a keyhole, he levitated the keys that Lark gave him and put in one of the keys. With just a swift turn of the key inside the keyhole Timothy heard a click and steel doors slowly open as he saw a large furnace and two large pipes going all the way to the top of deck. Then from behind Timothy was a voice, it was the speakers, it was Larkhoover speaking. Timothy march down inside the furnace room and picked up old pre war coal from the sacks.
"Everypony, this is very important. I know we are looking at horrible life staying on this ship with no food, water, and loosing everypony here. But i'm not willing to let you all starve or be left to lay thirsty. That is why i'm speaking to you now is because where not going to be walking around this steamship much longer."
Timothy pulled the sack of coal into the furnace, after three sacks of coal were inside the furnace. Tim went over to a wheel and began to turn it.
"Oh miss Lolly is taking us back to the land of Equestria, we will go and get supplies to fix and get our Lolly working again." Timothy turned the wheel fully and fire began inside the furnace as there was a rumble and Timothy felt the ship as it was moving slightly forward.
"We are getting supplies at Equestria and we will fix Lolly, we will go to Equestria, get our supplies and bring it to oh Lolly no matter what it takes. This ship is still our home but out there in Equestria there is loot, and supplies. So who is with me!"
There was a loud "YEAH!" from up in the resident level of the ship that even Timothy heard from above him. Timothy smiled and began to sat on the step of the stairs and close his eyes.
"Equestria, here we come." Timothy said quietly to himself resting his head on the other step of the stairs.
