> Fire Fox > by Arceaion > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > Prologue: Endings and Beginnings > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Time: 8:23:31 Time Till Server Shut Down: 3:37:29 Neburasuka sighed happily as he walked up the mountain path that lead to the Guild Base, at his side walked his NPC Ecx Specter, a Combat Automaton that Neburasuka designed to act as the bodyguard for when one of the guild members went on particularly dangerous missions. The NPC wore a form fitting dark green bodysuit, a breastplate that covers her chest and back and heavy dark green steel toes combat boots. A Camo scarf was always wrapped around her neck and she wore a pair of goggles on her forehead to keep her hair out of her face. Around her waist was a belt with two holsters, clips of extra ammo and two grenades. Slung across her back was a high powered sniper with scope. As not many of his guild-mates played anymore he had chosen to take Ecx as backup for the Raid Boss he was coming back from defeating. Due to the game ending many of the Players were calling the raid The End Game Events. It was incredibly hard to fight a Raid Boss solo but with his combination of magic and fighting power, along with Ecx’s sniper skills he had managed to beat the boss, thought the fight was extremely close. Most of the material dropped by the boss was useless to him but not his guild-mate Artificius. In Heroes of Heaven, only heteromorphic races, or as they’re better known inhuman characters, had racial levels. This meant Humans and demi-humans could not obtain racial levels and the skills they granted like magic only class levels however there was one exception to this rule. The material that the boss had dropped was known as the Eye of Gods and was the main ingredient in a potion that would allow a human or demi-human to choose any heteromorphic race and be allowed to gain the abilities that came along with those racial levels if they took levels in them. Artificius was the only human among his Guild and as such it limited what he was capable of doing when the guild went on missions. Neburasuka had been searching for this item for a long time as he planned to gift to him. While may be a simple human he more than made up for his races shortcomings in that he was perhaps the best Alchemist in Yggdrasil. This also meant that he had the right skill set to brew this potion. Neburasuka smiled as he looked at the second item that had dropped and the one he had actually been after from the start, a glowing silver Data Crystal. Data Crystals were fairly common as they were what allowed for many of the games features however a Silver Data Crystal was the rarest version and the last piece he needed to finish his project. As Neburasuka entered the guild base he stopped for a moment and simply gazed upon it, a sad look coming to his eyes. Yusei no jinja or in English The Shrine of Ascendancy, when they had created the Guild the aimed to be the best and through their determination they had succeeded in defeating this powerful dungeon and made it their Guild Base. After they had taken the Base they had changed the name of their guilt to Shoten Shita Guntai and became one of the top five guilds in the game. Shoten Shita Guntai had only one requirement for joining, the Player had to be a functioning member of society. Despite this fact in the time they had been active there had only ever been six members. As Neburasuka entered the Shrine he turned to Ecx. "Go get your sister and bring her to the sixth floor Laboratory." He said. Ecx bowed and teleported in a flash of light. Once she left a golden light enveloped Neburasuka and the human façade he wore was ripped, as the light faded nine tails with rust red fur and white tips stretched out, his legs became degraded and his face grew out into a canine muzzle. Neburasuka sighed and shook himself as the transformation ended and he stretched his arms as his tails wagging happily. "Oh god, it feels so good to be in my true form!" he exclaimed happily as he snapped his fingers and teleported to the Laboratory under the sixth floor causing a man inside to jump. "SON OF A-" The man screamed in shock before doubling over to catch his breath as he clutched his chest. "Neburasuka, you asshole, you scared me half to death." He said. Neburasuka chuckled as he pat the man's shoulder. "Sorry Artificius." he said with a smile. "Damn trickster." Artificius said as he sat down on a chair. Artificius was a man with a moderate build standing at a slightly smaller height than most. He has a sharp but rounded chin, a mouth that could easily be drawn into a crazed smile and eagle like eyes that had the look of one who'd went insane. His hair was neglected, sitting as long bangs that always cover one eye. The man's clothes consisted of a pair of thick leather boots, brown pants with a black turtleneck. Artificius also wore a white lab coat that has a wide rim around the neck, the coat moves on its own accord and often act as a shield for him, at his side was a medium sized leather bag with a strap going over his shoulder. "Hey Arty got something from the Raid Boss for ya." Neburasuka said with a smile. "Oh, and what would that be Nebura?" Arty asked curious. Neburasuka smiled slowly and tossed him what looked like an eye, the moment Arty caught it he gasped. "The Eye of Gods!" He gasped in shock. "Nebura do you know how much this is worth?!" He asked. "More than we'll ever need." Nebura said with a scoff. "Use it for what you wish." He said with a smile. "You could finally have access to skills and abilities that are locked by the Human Class." "Nebura I can't accept this." Arty said. "This could make enough money for the guild to last a thousand years besides, I like being human.” He said proudly. “I can find other ways to achieve the same results; you don't need to pass up such an opportunity for me." Neburasuka chuckled. "I'm not we have plenty of gold. Tell you what, keep the item and do with it as you will. Sell it, trade it, use it, do what you think is right." Neburasuka said as he walked away. "Fine, I may find a use for it later." Artificial said with a sigh as he set the item down on one of his work benches. "So what brought you down here anyway?" He asked as he followed Neburasuka down a hall to a chamber labeled Character Creator. “I’m sure you didn’t come just to give me such a gift.” "I got the final piece and it has just enough data." Neburasuka said as he lifted up the silver crystal. Arty's eyes widened. "Is that a silver Crystal!?"He asked shocked. Neburasuka nodded. "That boss had some good drops." He said as he entered the chamber, stepped up to a console and typed in a series of codes. One of the walls opened up revealing what appeared to be a large stasis tube. As Neburasuka walked up to the machine Ecx entered the room with another NPC at her side. This NPC was named Ariel Courier, she was a Skeleton Race and wore a pair of military cargo pants and camo T-shirt, leather WWII aviator jacket with a black silk scarf tied around her neck and she a set of aviator goggles on her head. Around her waist is a brown leather belt with two leather holsters and two swords sheaths. "You brought Ecx and Ariel?" Arty asked. "They should be here to see their little sister born." Neburasuka said with a smile as he and Arty approached the Stasis tube. Neburasuka wiped dust off the tube and revealed a young Kitsune girl in a Miko outfit. Neburasuka smiled and placed the Data Crystal in a slot and the Stasis tube activated. The lights on the machine changed glowed for a moment before the sound of a lock clicking open was heard and the door opened revealing the Kitsune slowly open her eyes. "May I introduce Aurora, the Head Shrine Maiden." He said with a smile. Arty smiled as he knelt down and looked at Aurora. "Hello Aurora, I'm Artificius though everyone calls me Arty for short." The Kitsune bowed to Arty causing him to chuckle before a sad sigh escaped. "No matter what they're still NPC's.” He said with a sigh. "We may be good at programming but were not that good." Neburasuka agreed sadly before shaking his head. "So will the others be here soon or are you the only one who chose to come?" Arty smiled. "They are already here; they're waiting for you in the throne room." "Well let's go meet up with them." Neburasuka said with a smile as they teleported to the 9th floor. Time: 11:47:10 Time Till Server Shut Down: 00:13:40 The ninth floor, designed to act as the homes and houses of the guild members, Modeled after a feudal era Japanese village, the floor was designed to appear as life like as possible. Housing thousands of NPC's that the members of guild had made over the years there were markets, samurai warriors that served as guards and even civilian NPC’s that simply walked around or talked. However that was just the inside of the village, outside the villages stone walls was a great plains that surrounded it while to the south the plains lead into a forest that is stocked full of mythical creatures that are both passive and aggressive, to the north mountains that were capped with snow. At the heart of the village was a Shrine identical to the Shrine of Ascendancy however this one was actually a shrine and serves as the throne room of the Guild. As Neburasuka and Artificius appeared on the floor Neburasuka smiled sadly. "It's a shame to see all we did here be destroyed." He said sadly before Ecx and Ariel pushed the doors to the Shrine open, as the doors opened Neburasuka froze in shock standing in the room was his Guild-mates and all the NPC's Guardians they had created. They had lined up in two rows flanking the path to the Throne of the shrine. Artificius quickly walked to a spot next to the two Guardians he had created as Ecx and Ariel also stepped forward and took their place at the end of the line and closest to the Throne. "You didn't think we would be simply saying good bye did you?" Artificius asked with a smirk. Neburasuka smiled and slowly walked down the line toward the throne with Aurora at his side. As he passed his gild-mates and there NPC's he looked upon them with pride and sorrow. The first in the line was Iago and his NPC Occhi they were the protectors of the first floor and Guardians of the seventh and eighth floor. Iago was a Rogue class Greater Doppelganger, while his NPC Occhi was a Rogue class Fallen Angel. Occhi was a frail looking woman with long stringy blond hair and black wings that constantly seem to shed feathers. She wore a dark red cloth over her eyes that had multiple ruins that glow faintly and loose fitting white clothes that are somewhat similar in appearance to those worn by a Pierrot clown. Slung over her shoulder was a bow. Next was Seven-Souls-Lost and his three NPC's Bronze, Steel and Meteo. They were the protectors of the second floor, Mountains of Beginnings. Seven-Souls-Lost or Seven for short was a Warrior Class Half-Golem, while his three Bronze and Steel were warrior class and Meteo was Mage class. Each of the Golems were made from varying levels of material and quality. Bronze was the weakest of the three brothers. Built last using spare energy and parts bronze is as the name suggests made mostly of bronze with a simple core and a very simple mind, he only knew how to do one thing, smash shit and stand still. Bronze appears like a clunky suit of full body bronze armor with glowing red eyes and a metallic bronze 'skeleton' is visible where the joints of the armor are open. Steal was the second of the golem brothers, and looked like a sleek human knight in form fitting armor and chain-mail, however if one were to try and look inside the armor one would realize that in most places it's completely hollow save for the metallic skeleton residing inside covered in glowing blue runes. Steal was far sleeker than his younger brother and far more intelligent steel with him even able to speak a bit though usually he just uses this to taunt his foes. Steel was capable of wielding a variety of weapons and was skilled with all of them but has a strong preference for a large morning star and shield combination. Meteo was the first brother, carved from black rock and lined with red molten lines; meteo was forged from the heart of a fallen star and was the most powerful of Seven's guardians as well as the eldest. Unlike most golems meteo was smart enough to not only converse quite readily with sapiens, but also wields magic with the skill of an archmage, making him deadly at range and up close. The next he passed was Vulcan and his two NPC's, Cain and Kreig. Vulcan was an Automaton while Cain was an Elemental Fighter class Lightning Dragon and Kreig was an Elemental Fighter class Wolf Lycanthrope. They were the guardians of the fifth floor, The Desolate Arena. Next Neburasuka passed John and his NPC's Saer, Etidorhpa and Ladneaf. They acted in assisting the other guardians and provided cover for them. John was a Mage class Fallen Angel, while Saer was a Warrior class Dullahan, Etidorhpa was a Succubus Demon and Landneaf was a Mage class Elf. Last was Artificius and his NPC's Red and Blue who guarded the sixth floor, The Forgotten Village. Artificius was an Alchemist though rather than choose a more powerful class he chose to go with the Human Race. Red was a Sword Fighter class Slime while Blue was a Gunner class Slime and despite what one would first think Red and Blue are actually one creature, though whether it had Multiple Personality Disorder or is actually two separate entities has never been determined. Blue is similar in shape to a small boy and is a transparent blue, he has two pointed blobs done up with a hair band and small blob rounded spins at the bottom-back of his head. Red was similar in shape to a small girl and is a transparent red; her hair is two large dropping blobs in the front and the same small rounded spike at the bottom-back of her head in a row. Finally Neburasuka passed his NPC's Ariel Courier and Ecx Specter. Arial Courier was a Combat Caster class Skeleton tasked with guarding the Guild's Vault, while Ecx Specter was a Commando class Automaton. Arial Courier was Neburasuka First NPC and was programmed with a desire to protect the Vault as well as maintain the weapons, armor, relics and money placed in the Vault. She was the only NPC that has unrestricted access to all parts of the Shrine and was the most intelligent NPC in the shrine, she also has unrestricted access to the shrines defenses and traps and if something happens to the Leader of the Shrine Guardians she was set to take command of the defenses and protection of the shrine. Neburasuka designed Ariel Couriers to be a tall skeleton with light brown hair, and her skull was cracked around her right eye. She wore a pair of military cargo pants and camo T-shirt, a WWII aviator jacket with a scarf tied around her neck and she wears a set of aviator goggles on her head. At her waist was a belt with two pistols holstered in them however she also carried a pair of rapiers that were attached to the belt as well. Ecx Specter was created as a Combat Automaton and acted as the Bodyguard for when one of the guilds members went on particularly dangerous missions. Ecx's personality was designed to be stoic and closed off, she is extremely quiet and hums rather than talk. When Neburasuka designed Ecx Specter he wanted to make her as life like as possible so he made her looks like a human female in her early twenties with long rust red hair and silver colored eyes. Her body was designed to appear human in every aspect meaning she even had a pulse, body heat, and oddly enough emotions. The only things that break the illusion of her being a human is the fact that she has metal wings appearing from her lower back and her eyes have a cybernetic appearance and instead of a pupil her left eye has what appears to be a targeting crosshair. Ecx wore a form fitting dark green bodysuit, a breastplate that covers her chest and back and heavy dark green steel toes combat boots. A Camo scarf was always wrapped around her neck and she wore a pair of goggle either around her neck or on her forehead to keep her hair out of her face. Around her waist a belt with two holsters holding her pistols, clips of extra ammo, two grenades and slung across her back was a high powered sniper with scope. Neburasuka smiled as he approached the throne and slowly sat down, Aurora slowly walked to the right side of the throne and stood quietly. Neburasuka looked over his friends and guild mates before smiling sadly. Time: 11:58:38 Time Till Server Shut Down: 00:2:22 "Thanks for coming back one last time." Neburasuka said sadly. "We couldn't let everything go without saying good bye." Seven said his voice sad as well. "We spent so much time making this our home; it actually hurts to see it go." The other guild-mates nodded in agreement. "Hey it won't be so bad; we still have the data for all our NPC's saved so we could recreate them again in another game." Vulcan said optimistically. "But would you?" John asked as he looked at Vulcan." They are our children, we poured our hearts into making them and we love them. If we remade them it wouldn't be the same." Vulcan moved to reply before stopping to look at Cain and Kreig. "No, no I couldn't, it would be like looking at a shell. We could remake them but the memories we shared with them would not be there it would only be a reminder of what was." He said with a sigh. "We will all miss them but there is nothing we can do." Iago said with a sigh. "I'd love to stay but I got work in the morning." He said sadly before turning to Occhi and looking over her trying to memorize every detail, after a moment he turned to Neburasuka and nodded. "All my gear has been placed in the Guild Vault." He said sadly before bringing up the menu. "I'll see you all RL." He said as he logged out and his avatar disappeared. [User Iago has Logged Out] "I need to go to." Seven said as he turned to his creations. "Never was good with words so I'll simply say that I'll miss you three. Take care of yourselves." He said and turned to Neburasuka. "All my gears put up in the Vault. See you all RL, maybe." He said as he logged out. [User Seven-Souls-Lost has Logged Out] "I should probably go as well." John said as he turned to his creations. "Sear, protect your siblings and guard this place. Etidorhpa, behave yourself, listen to Neburasuka and Aurora. Ladneaf, I wish you luck and skill. I probably won't see you three ever again so know that I love you as my children and I will miss you dearly." John turned to Neburasuka and bowed. "It has been an honor to fight at your side, I've put my items are in the Vault as well. Farewell my friends and Guild-mates." He said as he logged out. [User John has Logged Out] "Well I guess I'm next." Vulcan said as he turned to his NPC's. "I honestly don't have anything that's not clichéd to say so I'll just say goodbye. My gear is in the Vault and I want Cain and Vulcan to have it." Neburasuka nodded. "I'll try to get it to them." He said sadly. Vulcan nodded before turning and walking toward the doors of the Shrine as he logged out giving a wave over his shoulder. "Well, see ya." He said as his avatar disappeared. [User Vulcan has Logged Out] Arty stared at where the others once stood before turning to Neburasuka. "I'm guessing you’re staying to the end?" he asked. Neburasuka nodded. "I was the Guild Master of Shoten Shita Guntai, as the leader I shall go down with all we have done." "Like how a captain goes down with his ship?" Arty asked. Neburasuka nodded and Arty chuckled. "It was an honor to serve under you, and you know where my gear is at this point." He said before turning to Red and Blue. "You take care of yourselves, you hear?" He asked as he looked at the two slimes. "You know I never asked but are Red and Blue actually two separate entities or did you give your creation the most awesome Multiple Personality Disorder ever? Neburasuka asked curiously. Arty smiled. "They are two separate NPC's that operate together, a perfect symbiotic relationship." He said proudly before the smile turned onto a sadder one. "Hey, Neburasuka I got a weird little request." Arty said as he scratched the back of his head. "What is it Arty?" Neburasuka asked. "If some ‘magic teleport to another world' thing happens to ya, think you could take care of Red and Blue." He asked his face turning red with embarrassment. Neburasuka stared at Arty for a moment before chuckling. "That kind of stuff only happens in Anime but ya, I'll keep them safe." "Thanks." Arty said. "You know you could stay, there's only a minute left till shut down and honestly what will a minute hurt?" Neburasuka asked. Arty hesitated before sighing. "Well, it's not I was going to do anything anyway." He said with a sigh. Neburasuka smiled and the two waited for the end surrounded by all the NPC's that the members of the guild made and loved as children. 00:00:10 00:00:09 00:00:08 00:00:07 "Every day was an adventure you know? It was fun." Neburasuka said with a smile. 00:00:06 "Yeah, it was a blast." Arty said 00:00:05 00:00:04 Arty and Neburasuka closed their eyes waiting for the end. 00:00:03 00:00:02 00:00:01 00:00:00 00:00:01 00:00:02 00:00:03 The two's eyes shot open in surprise as they waited. "Did the Devs push back the shut down?" Neburasuka asked confused. "No, something wrong." Arty said before he was enveloped in a glowing blue fire and he screamed. "Arty!" Neburasuka yelled in panic as he rose to help Arty only to gasp as Red and Blue shot forward without a command. The two slimes ran over to Arty panicking and confused in what to do and the other NPC's began to move as well though they all looked worried. Slowly the fire fades and as it did Arty rose from the floor however he had changed. Neburasuka hesitated but slowly approached. "Arty is that you? Are you okay?" He asked concerned. "Ya, I'm fi-' Artificius gasped and clutched his stomach as if he had been punched in the gut and groaned. Slowly is features lost became smoother as his chest grew and 'his' hips widened. Arty groaned and fell over gasping. "Oh, that hurt!" She exclaimed. "Arty are you ok?" Neburasuka asked concerned as he knelt down and examined her. "Ugh, I'm fine I just feel like I was punched in the gut." She said. "I'm going to take a guess that you were female in our world?" He asked cautiously. Arty nodded her head. "Yeah...how'd you know?" "I had a guess, you sometimes acted a little weird at least in the terms of a male but what actually gave it away was that you weren't too worried about suddenly becoming a girl." Artificius groaned and slowly sat up rubbing her forehead, only for Red and Blue to jump on her in a panic. "Oh my gosh are you ok?" Red asked in a panic. "We were worried, what happened to you? I mean you suddenly burst into flames and now you’re a girl!" Blue exclaimed as he panicked as well. "Uh..." Arty said in shock as she stared at the two slimes her brain slowly trying to catch up. "Neburasuka what's going on?" She asked. "Well I can't bring up the menu for the game, I can actually feel my magic, and you just randomly became a girl, welcome to our new reality in a new world.” Neburasuka said with a smirk. Arty stared at Neburasuka for a moment before giving the appropriate response to the situation. “This is fucking bullshit.” > Chapter 1: A New World > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Neburasuka rose and turned to the NPC's hesitantly. "Ecx, Occhi, exit the Shrine and determine our surroundings." he said in a commanding voice. "As you command." Ecx said as she turned and exited the throne room Occhi following quietly behind. "Red, Blue, help Artificius to her room and stay with her." He said as he turned to the two slimes. The slimes saluted and turned helped their creator to her feet before leading her away. As they did Neburasuka turned to the other guardians who watched him calmly though he could tell they were confused and scared. "Ariel, check on the Vault once it is secured I want you to coordinate the defenses and monitor the perimeter, place Shrine defenses on Omega 1." "As you wish Father." Ariel said as she teleported away. "The rest of you must have questions so you may ask." Neburasuka said calmly. "I believe our first question is what has happened?" Saer asked concerned. Neburasuka nodded. "How much do you know of who and what you are?" He asked. All the NPC's looked at each other for a moment before Cain spoke up. "We were all programmed with basic knowledge on what we are." Cain said calmly. "We are NPC's or as were better known Non-Player Characters for the Video Game known as Heroes of Heaven. We were created to be the children of our creators." Neburasuka nodded. "Correct, today at 24:00, midnight, all servers of Heroes of Heaven were shut down and the game was to end. I and all of your parents thought it would simply end and as such we planned to see each other one last time. I and Artificius stayed to the end, we planned to stay till we were ejected from the game however as you can tell that didn't happen." "Instead something changed." Ladneaf said. "I can actually feel it in myself; we are no longer NPC's or simply programs. We’ve become flesh and blood." "If I am correct something that was thought impossible has happened." Neburasuka said. "Until we have more information I'd suggest we take a break, we need to wait for Artificius to recover and I need some time to think." He said. "Guardians, you are dismissed to your floors. Return here in one day that will give us time to recuperate." Neburasuka said as he walked to the throne and sat down. All the guardians bowed and exited the throne room leaving Neburasuka and Aurora who stood to the right of the throne shuffling her feet. "Um... father, do you wish me to go as well?" She asked. Neburasuka shook his head. "Come here Aurora." He said as he gestured for her to approach. Aurora slowly walked over to her father and he pulled her into a hug. Aurora hesitated for a moment but slowly melted in to the embrace and smiled happily. "The moment I get a chance I'm getting you and your sisters and we are having some family time." He sighed. Aurora smiled as he let her go and she sat down in his lap. "I doubt we'll get that any time soon." She sighed. "Besides don't you want to go back to where you came from?" Neburasuka stopped for a moment and pulled away from Aurora in thought before chuckling. "Usually in comics and stuff when the main character ends up in another world, they try their best to find a way home right?" Aurora nodded as she listened however Neburasuka seemed lost in what he was saying. "But why would they want to go back to a world if its total... shit?" Aurora gasped in surprise as he turned to her with a smile. "This world means more to me than my old one ever did, here I have a family and something worth protecting. If Artificius wants to leave I’ll help her return home but I'm staying here." Aurora sniffled as tears began to run down her face and she hugged Neburasuka harder. "Thank you Daddy." she whispered and Neburasuka smiled as he returned the hug. "Want to come to the Vault with me? I need to check on something." He asked. "Yes!" Aurora exclaimed excitedly. Neburasuka chuckled as he snapped his fingers and the two teleported. The Guild Vault was a massive chamber divided into four parts. The first was the Main Hall which housed every piece of information on everything that Shoten Shita Guntai had acquired, to the left was the treasury and to the right the armory. Neburasuka walked past all this continuing forward till he reached a completely black wall. Standing before the wall was Ariel, the hilts of her sheathed rapiers shinning in the light of the vault. "Aurora!" The skeleton exclaimed happily as she leaped at her sister and hugged her before realizing who else was there and blushing. Quickly she rose and trying to look presentable however her attempts were wasted as Neburasuka simply laughed. "Welcome to the Guild Vault Father. I've checked all the relics and secured the more dangerous ones." She said as she pulled Aurora into another hug. "I assume the flavor text and descriptions of the items were brought to life as well when we were teleported here?" Neburasuka asked a smirk on his face as he watched his eldest daughter. Ariel nodded. "Yeah, my job may get a bit more exciting from here on out." She said with a smile before becoming serious. "I assume you’re here to check the on the more important things personally?" She asked. Neburasuka nodded. "Yes." He said calmly and he turned to Aurora. "Beyond this gate lies a hall of weapons, armor and items with the classification of God Level and Unique. All of the equipment is locked behind thick glass that can only be unlocked by your sister, the member of the guild that placed the item in the case or the Gild Master, me." Aurora looked at Ariel her eyes sparkling. "Wow, so you can unlock things that only the Guild Members can!?" She asked in amazement. Ariel chuckled and nodded. “Yes, however what lies beyond the hall is the true reason why I was created and what I protect." She said with Pride. “Everything in these halls pales in comparison to what lies beyond this gate.” "The inner most sanctum of the Shrine," Neburasuka said and Ariel nodded. "What's the inner most sanctum?" Aurora asked. Neburasuka smiled. "It is here all the World Class Level Items that the Guild has are placed." Neburasuka explained to her before returning to look at the wall before placing his hand on the door. The moment he did this letters inscribed into the wall began to glow 'Through this gate you will obtain all the secrets of the world and through it gain the power to change Fate.' It read and Neburasuka took a deep breath. "Open the Gates of Eternity and unleash the power of the Ascended." He said. The wall lit up as magic circuits glowed and the wall began to lower slowly. When the gate lowered all the way Neburasuka stepped forward with Ariel and Aurora following behind. The two NPC's were awestruck as they walked through the door and found themselves in a hall decorated with tapestries however what was most incredible was all the niches in the walls that had glass over them. As they walked forward the two NPC's realized that each niche contained a set of armor, weapon, or item that was extremely powerful. "This is where we placed the most powerful of our equipment, locked away and protected so that none but us my use them." Neburasuka explained as they exited the hall and entered the inner most sanctum of the Shrine. The inner sanctum was circular and the walls were lined with pedestals that held a World Class Level Items floating in an anti-gravity field however at the center floating behind a thick cylinder made of glass was the Guild Weapon. Ariel and Aurora stood in awe at what they saw. Neburasuka chucked and walked to a world class item that had prominence in the center and when Aurora saw it she gasped. "That's not possible!" She said in shock. Aurora turned to look at the weapon her father stood before but only looked confused. "What is it?" She asked as she looked at her sister. "That sword is the World Item known as Caliburn; it is a sacred relic that was thought to have never been found!" She said as she approached the pedestal. "Officially it never was." Neburasuka said with a smirk. "Caliburn is a special item as once it is found it will register to the players Account ID. This meant that only the Player who found it would be able to wield it and I just do happen to acquire all the necessary clues to find it first." "What do you mean?" Aurora asked confused. "To find Caliburn one had to go on a bit of a scavenger hunt and it was hard. However it was worth it and I was able to find the legendary sword." Neburasuka replied. "Was the rumor about it true father?" Ariel asked excitedly. "Was it with Avalon?" "Yes." He said and Ariel squealed excitedly. "Um...What's Avalon?" Aurora asked before sighing. "I'm sounding like a broken record." she said sadly. Ariel patted her shoulder in a comforting manner. "Your young sis, I've been around for a looong time so I know a thing or two." She said with a wink. "As for your question, Caliburn had three perks. The first was that it could only be used by the one who found it first. Second was that it has a duel form that allows it to become Excalibur. And finally it supposedly came with a God Level Item, the scabbard Avalon!" Ariel said excitedly. Neburasuka reached out and pulled the sword from its pedestal eyeing it carefully. "Caliburn was the Guilds greatest asset, if I can no longer wield it then..." He trailed off slowly a look of concern on his muzzle as he grasped the hilt. Slowly he tugged it and with a click the sword was unlocked. The two NPC's watched in awe as Neburasuka drew the sword from its scabbard and held it out. To the NPC's the blade looked as if it was masked in a shimmering mist however Neburasuka saw the polished silver blade that lay underneath the illusion. He smiled and sheath the weapon before placing it back on its pedestal. "You’re not taking it with you?" Aurora asked. "Not yet, once we know what lies in this new world I will take it out but for now Caliburn will remain here where it is safe." Neburasuka said as he turned to Ariel. "Ariel I would like you to fetch Vulcan's gear and pass it to Cain and Kreig." Ariel bowed. "At once father." She said and walked away. Neburasuka watched her leave when a ping went off causing him to jump in surprise. 'The message function works?' He thought as he opened the connection. ["Yes?"] He asked. ["Father we've scouted the terrain, it's not good from what we can tell."] Ecx Said concern etched in her voice. ["The land around the mountain is grasslands."] Occhi said calmly. ["What do you mean grasslands?!"] Neburasuka asked concerned. ["She means just that, the mountain that the Shrine is on is still here as well as all the plant and animal life that were on it however the mountains and valleys that surrounded us and protected us are gone. We are completely exposed and I'm concerned."] Ecx explained. Neburasuka stood there for a moment in thought before a look of determination crossed his face. "Return to the shrine immediately and head for the eighth floor, I'm having the defenses of the shrine set to Maximum and all guardians will be in full alert." ["Yes Father/Emperor."] Ecx and Occhi said before cutting the Message. Neburasuka sighed. ["Message - Artificius"] Neburasuka said as he activated the complication system. After a moment there was a beep and the connection activated. ["Nebura that you?"] Arty asked tiredly. ["Yes, I need you to come to the eighth floor, the situation has escalated."] Neburasuka said in concern. ["On my way."] Arty said and the connection ended. Floor eight, also known as the Wells of Life was a perfect Zen Garden; the floor was a single acre of beauty for those who live in the upper floors of the shrine. There was a calm stream that feed into a small pond filled with Koi and a beautiful orchard of fruit trees all magically maintained. Beautiful flowers filled the ground and if one were to look off into the distance they would see all the previous floors on the shrine. This meant that while one could not see the ninth floor or higher they could still see the rest of the shrine as if they were looking upon the world from the sky. At the heart of this floor was the World Class Item known as the Bowl of Hygiei, the Bowl of Hygiei was a massive fountain shaped as a chalice with a snake twined around its stem and poised above it, anyone who drink from it were restore. However there is a limit to its power. Any injuries, conditions, and mental ailments that are gained inside the shrine are restored but any injuries from outside the shrine do not heal. As Neburasuka teleported to the room he smiled as a feeling of content covered him. In the past it was here that the other Guild Members would gather. Here they had discussed everything from philosophy to politics however this floor also held a special place in each Guild Members heart as it was here that their Guild, Shoten Shita Guntai, had been come to be. "This place brings back memories." A voice said behind Neburasuka causing him to jump and turn in surprise, behind him stood Artificius, a smile on her face showed her amusement. Neburasuka smiled. "Good to see you old friend." He said. Artificius smiled and walked to the cliffs looking over the realms they now ruled. "Remember when we founded the Guild." She asked. "How could I forget?" Neburasuka asked with a nod. "I still feel you made the wrong choice in leadership." Artificius chuckled. "I think we chose right." She said with a smile before turning to Neburasuka, a serious look on her face. "So what's the problem?" "Ecx and Occhi reported in." Neburasuka said as he joined her and looked out over the other floors. Artificius nodded. "I assume it's bad if you called me here, what did they find?" "They'll be here shortly to give a full report." Neburasuka said as he continued to watch the realms. "I think I need to change my name." Artificius chuckled. "Why would you want to do that?" She asked. "The name Neburasuka was feared throughout the seven realms realms of Hell and even many of the Angles from Heaven feared you." Neburasuka nodded. "This isn't Heroes of Heaven any longer though and if we meet any of the locals of this new world I'd rather not have the name Neburasuka, it’s too long and hard to pronounce." Artificius shrugged. "I honestly don't care." Neburasuka nodded. "Honestly I'll probably just change it to the English translation for what it meant." He said with a shrug. Artificius groaned and face palmed. "You are so lazy!" She groaned as Neburasuka laughed. "Honestly who wouldn't want a name like Shadow Nebula?" Neburasuka asked as he crossed his arms. Artificius sighed and shook her head as Neburasuka laughed again. As the two Players spoke Ecx and Occhi teleported in, when they saw the two talking Occhi stopped to wait however Ecx continued onward and hugged Neburasuka. Neburasuka paused and looked down at Ecx before smiling and hugging the Automaton. "Hello Ecx." He said before turning to see Occhi. "Looks like it's time for the meeting." He said with a sigh before opening up the menu and quickly typing something up. {NAME CHANGE FROM: Neburasuka TO: Shadow Nebula HAVE A NICE DAY} Celestia groaned and looked up to see a strange bipedal creature with nine tales and wearing heavy armor approaches her. "It didn't have to be this way Celestia." The creature said in a sad tone. "All we wanted was to live in peace but you ponies just couldn't let that happen now could you?" Celestia rose and flared her wings as she looked at the creature in anger. "It doesn't have to be like this, we can still find peace!" She cried out however the creature shook his head. "Perhaps in another time we could have been friends but I fear that time has long since passed." He said as he drew his blade. "I fight to protect my people just as you fight to protect yours. Celestia lit her horn as the creature raised his blade, a sword that looked to be forged from darkness itself, and with a cry the two charged, the battle was over in a single strike and Celestia fell. As she lay on the ground the creature approached and raised his blade. "I will not ask for your forgiveness but I ask that you not hold anger for me. I will pay for taking your life and all others I have taken when my time comes, I only pray you find peace where ever you go." He said as his blade fell. Celestia gasped for breath as she shot from her bed and looked around. She sat in her bed and as she looked around she saw it was night out. After taking a moment to calm herself she rose and went to the window however half way there a knock came from the door. "Enter." She said and the heavy doors opened with a slight squeak as Luna entered. "Hello Luna." She said as she reached the window and sat down. "Hello sister." Luan said as she joined Celestia. "I assume you saw it, the vision?" She asked and Celestia nodded. "A male bipedal creature with nine tails battled me and I fell." She said as she took a breath. "Though from what he said he did not wish to fight, I feel we should be cautious of this vision." Luna nodded. "I saw a creature similar to yours, but they appeared to be female." She replied. "Like in yours they seemed to regret our battle but refused to stand down." Celestia sighed. "This vision is obscure; if we intemperate wrong we face a foe we know could have been an allied with." Celestia said thoughtfully. "In my vision the creature said, ‘All we wanted was to live in peace but you ponies just couldn't let that happen now could you?’, I feel that the fight we have is brought about by our ponies... fear of the unknown." Luna paused and looked at Celestia with a harsh glare. "Sister, I've met Griffons more tolerant than our ponies." She said angrily. "For all your talk of love and tolerance the fact is our ponies are the most xenophobic." Celestia sighed. "What do I do Luna, I don't want war or conflict but we both know that in the end the noble council will have the final say." "If you would just disband the bloody council and restored the noble houses to what they once were then we wouldn't ever have trouble." Luna growled "And what would you have me do Luna, strip them of power?" Celestia asked with a sigh. "If I were to do that then it would only add weight to the council’s depiction of me as a tyrannical monster. They already see me as that though the keep it to themselves, if I were to do that I would be stripped of my title and power faster than Hurricane could fly!" Luna smiled. "I have been having some of my night guards watching the nobles, many of them could easily be dismissed on accounts of corruption and abuse of their station." She said with a giggle. Celestia sighed. "Do you have proof?" She asked and Luna nodded causing the solar sister to smile. "Then I will need it, tomorrow we remove the thorn that has become the council and nobility." > Chapter 2: Ponies and Magic > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Shadow Nebula sat on the throne on the ninth floor and sighed. "Aurora, I'm bored." He said with a sigh. Aurora turned to look at him, her head tilted in thought. "We could go train our magic again father." She offered however Shadow frowned and shook his head. "It's been a month Aurora; I've adjusted to my magic. Even worse is that there's nothing around." He said with a yawn. Aurora nodded. "We've already walked through all the floors and meet with the NPC's." She said in thought. "I honestly don't know what we could do." Shadow sighed and rose from the throne. "This world is so boring." He said tiredly before his ears perked up. "Hey Aurora, what do you think about starting a form of court for the people who live here?" Aurora tilted her head in thought before smiling and nodded. "I think the people would appreciate it a lot." She replied happily. Shadow nodded walked toward the exit of the shrine. "I have some business with Artificius later but how about I grab Arial and Ecx and we can have a picnic on the eight floors?" He asked Causing Aurora to smile and run after him. "Yeah, let's go!" She exclaimed happily. Shadow chuckled. "Calm down Aurora, I need to-" A sudden ping went off as the Message system activated. {"My Emperor, someone has entered the First Floor of the temple, however they appear to be sentient."} Occhi said calmly. Shadow frowned. "What do they look like?" He asked. {"They look like some sort of equine, from their stature and size I think they're ponies and they're absolutely adorable!" She squealed. Shadow frowned. "Focus Occhi, what else can you tell me?" He asked in a patient tone. {"They have different colored coats, ones blue with a darker blue mane and tale, the other is a purplish gray and has a purple mane and tale with whitish gray stripes running through them."} Occhi said calmly. Shadows eyes widened as he gasped. "Impossible, then again everything that's happened thus far has been thought impossible as well." He muttered under his breath before his eyes narrowed. "Occhi this is very important, do they have a symbol on their flank, it should appear as a picture." {"I can't tell form where I am, I'll move to get a better view."} Occhi replied before the faint sound of wind was heard. {"Yes, they have a mark on their flanks but... oh there may be a problem."} Occhi said sadly. Shadow began to move quickly motioning for Aurora to follow him as he quickly exited the Throne Room and walk through the shrine. "What's wrong Occhi?" He asked in deep concern. {"The ponies are bleeding heavily and there are a lot of injuries on them."} Occhi said calmly. {Emperor, there is a second group and they appear to be Griffons, they're heading straight for the ponies!"} The fur on Shadows face paled. "Protect those ponies Occhi, I'm on my way!" He said quickly before cutting the connection and reconnecting with Ecx. "Ecx, You are needed on the First floor and move quickly, prepare for combat scenarios as well." He said before sending another message. {What's up Nebura?"} Artificius asked as the connection established. {"I'll explain more when you get there but I know where we are and we have a problem, I need you on the first floor now, I'm on my way as we speak."} Shadow said as a portal opened and he stepped through to the first floor, as he stepped through he reached into his inventory and pulled out his sword. "Sorry fellas, but I'm going to ask you to leave my Shrine now, you're not welcome." He said calmly. 'Run, find some place safe to leave her!' That was all injured Twilight Velvet thought as she and her Husband, Night Light, thought as they ran; behind them the screeched of the griffons could be heard as they drew closer. "Were not going to make it Velvet!" Night light huffed tiredly as he ran beside her. "Then we fight." Velvet said her voice wavering from exhaustion but determined. Night Light shook his head. "No, there's nothing around for miles and ev- what's that!?" He asked as he and Velvet slowed and gawked at the mountain that stood before them. The mountain was the size of the Canterhorn, the mountain on which Canterlot was built, but the biome it held was something neither pony had ever seen. Massive trees covered the mountain and the underbrush was thick with moss and stones, an ancient stone path was carved into the mountain a d flanked by strange statues. Twilight Velvet began to walk forward however Night Light grabbed her withers "We don't know what's up there Velvet!" He exclaimed however the screeches of the griffons caused him to jump and look back nervously. Velvet frowned and looked down at a small bundle of blankets held close to her barrel. "I'll take my chances for her sake." She said as she ran for the path and started up the mountain, Night light hesitated for a moment before following his wife. The two ponies followed the path up the mountain their wounds dripping with blood that left a trail behind them, half way up the mountain the bundle of blanket began to squirm and the sound of a child crying was heard. Twilight velvet paused and pulled the child away from her chest revealing a tiny unicorn filly; quickly she began to shush the child. "Quiet Twilight, It's not safe yet." She said as she began to continue forward. The Two ponies continued up the mountain and after and hour of climbing the reached the end of path, before them stood a massive shrine, like the biome the style of the temple was strange to the ponies however they didn't stop and quickly ran through the overgrown courtyard and up the steps of the temple. As they entered they froze at the sight before them, by a simple glace it was obvious that the inside of the temple was much larger than the outside. The two ponies stood in a grand entrance hall with cavernous ceilings and decorated with hundreds of ornate shrines. This was a place of worship; however unlike many shrines or temples that were dedicated to a single deity this shrine seemed to hold a place for all gods, all were represented. As Night Light and Twilight Velvet entered the halls of worship a pervading sense of dread fell upon them, a sense of finality to their actions and as they walked farther in they felt a desire to pray to these ancient gods before facing what lay ahead. Night Light gulped as he looked around. "Velvet, we're not getting away. The griffons are going to kill us." He said afraid. Velvet looked down at the filly in her arms. "Then we hide her here and pray that she will be safe." Velvet said however a chuckle from the entrance was heard causing the two ponies to turn their eyes wide in fear as a group of griffons entered and approached them. "A little late for that." The griffon said with a grin. "Looks like we'll be eating well tonight boys!" He yelled behind receiving cheers and laughs from the group. Night Light backed away in fear however Twilight Velvet simply pulled the filly closer as her horn hit up. "You will not hurt my filly!" She growled earning a chuckle form the Griffons as the approached. Twilight Velvet's horn glowed brighter and then a figure fell between the two groups. Causing them to freeze. Slowly the figure rose, standing on two legs was a frail looking woman with black wings that slowly shed feathers as if they were leaves falling from a tree. The figure was distinctly female, with long stringy blond hair. She wore loose fitting white clothes that were reminiscent of those worn by a Pierrot clown and covering her eyes was a dark red cloth that had multiple ruins glow faintly. Were it not for her tired and worn appearance she would appear as if she were an angel from the old legends. As the figure stood fully up she seemed to glare at the griffons with a look of pure disdain despite her eyes being covered after a moment she spoke and both groups froze at her words. "Violence is forbidden on the first floor of the Yusei No Jinja, the ground is declared sacred; the final spot for both adventures and others to pray to their gods and goddesses before facing the true challenges ahead. No combat my take place in these halls of worship." The angels’ voice was calm and cold however it held an other-worldly melody to it. The Griffons growled as they felt a desire to apologize however the pushed through it as their claws itched for blood. "Stand aside creature, or we will rip you apart and eat you as well." the leader said arrogantly as he stepped forward however just as he was a few feet from the dark winged angel two portal opened and permitted two beings to step out. The first to step out was another bipedal creature similar to the Angel however she didn't have wings. The woman was tall and lanky with a sharp but rounded chin, a mouth that was drawn into a crazed smile and sharp eagle like eyes. In total she appeared to be a fairly beautiful woman that went insane. Her hair was neglected, sitting as long bangs that always cover one eye and fell around her neck, it was cut at ragged angles, as if it was burned at random times or cut carelessly to get it out of the way. The women wore a white lab coat that has a wide rim around the neck, the coat move on its own as if caught in a slight breeze. Under the lab coat was a black turtleneck and a pair of brown pants that had been poorly redesigned to act as cargo pants, on her feet was a pair of sturdy leather boots. There was also has a medium sized leather bag with a strap going over her shoulder, a couple of daggers are attached along the strap. Despite some what intimidating appearance of the women it was the second presence that made the two groups of invaders tremble in fear. The creature was unlike anything they had seen before and as he stepped through his hand entered a void of reality signaling a pocket dimension and drew from it a strange sword. "Sorry fellas, but I'm going to ask you to leave my Shrine now, you're not welcome." The figure said calmly as his form crossed fully through the portal. The Man had a tapered, shrewd-looking vulpine face with a speckling of downward-curved whiskers just behind the nose; his muzzle was decorated with rust orange fur on the upper jaw and head and with silver fur on his lower jaw, atop his head was a pair of large adept fox ears. The man had a humanoid shape like the others and wore a heavy set of Samurai armor. Nine swishing rust orange and moonlight silver fox’s tails extend behind him and curling around his body, and instead of some form of foot covering the man wore nothing revealing two legs that were crooked into high knees with hocks and long feet, like those of a fox. While most of the man’s body was covered by rust orange colored fur the 'gloves', chest fur and tips of his tails were a moonlight silver. Calmly the two arrivals walked forward and stood in front of the angel. "I would kindly ask you to leave now; as the Emperor said, you’re not welcome." The women said calmly as the griffons slowly backed away. The Lead griffon growled and charged forward screeching as he moved for the kill however the strange fox man’s eyes glowed as he reached out faster than the eyes could track and grabbed him form the air before his paw like hands sparked with electricity as a spell was spoken. "[Elemental Arc: Lightning]" He said in an authoritative voice and the griffon screeched as lightning was shot into his body through the foxes hands and fried him. "You were warned, the First floor of the Shrine of Ascendancy is not to be desecrated with blood or conflict, this is a place of prayer and meditation. This floor is for those who travel to the shrine prepare to face the trials ahead or where they may remain free to pursue their beliefs and seek enlightenment uninterrupted and without persecution." The Fox calmly walked forward dragging the griffon by the throat with little effort, as he reached the doors of the shrine he threw the griffon out and sent him tumbling down the stairs of the temple. "Leave now, or we will make you." The women said causing the griffons to turn and flee as fast as they could. The women sighed and turned to the two ponies that huddled behind them, one cowering in terror while the other stood with narrowed eyes and glowing horn. "You have no need to fear, those who would harm you are gone." The women said as he approached. "I am Artificius, the Alchemist for Shoten Shita Guntai." She said in a calming tone. The Fox slowly walked forward as well and bowed. "I am the leader of Shoten Shita Guntai, Shadow Nebula." The fox said as he rose. The Stallion that was behind the mare didn't move and the mare that was standing fell to the floor. "I'm Twilight Velvet and that's my husband Night Light." She said as she lay on the floor of the shrine a puddle of blood slowly collecting around her. Artificius frowned as she walked forward and pulled out several herbs. "I will try to treat your injuries however I don't know how much I can assist." She said as she walked over to Night Light and felt for a pulse only to find nothing. She sighed and moved to Velvet. "Your Husband has passed; I assume it's from blood loss." She said causing tears to fall form the mares’ eyes. Slowly the mare released her hold on the bundle in her for hooves and handed it to Artificius. "Her name is Twilight Sparkle, please take care of her." She asked as she closed her eyes. Artificius's eyes widened as she quickly set the bundle down and began to work on the mare however no matter what she did Twilight velvet was too injured to be healed and passed away. Artificius looked to Shadow Nebula in panic. "What do we do?!" She asked in fear however both their eyes were drawn to the sound of crying only to find Occhi holding the bundle open revealing a tiny unicorn filly with purple fur and mane with a magenta stripe through it. Artificius turned to Shadow in fear. "Nebura, that's the Twilight Sparkle, as in MLP Equestria Element of Magic Twilight Sparkle!" Shadow Nebula nodded slowly. "We're in Equestria and have just been charged with watching over one of the most important ponies in the history of this world." Shadow sat down just as a portal opened to reveal several human Shrine maidens in kimonos and Aurora exit through and look around. "We just fucked this world’s time line so bad!" Shadow said with a groan. > Chapter 3: The Princess of the Twilight Hour - Path to Ascension > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Location: Floor 8 - The Wells of Life Shadow and Artificius stood quietly as the waited as the floor guardians slowly arrived, as soon as Occhi had calmed the young filly now in their care Shadow summoned the other floor guardians to the eighth floor to discuss what to do. Ecx was the first to arrive and take her place at Shadows side. Next to enter was Saer, the Dullahanian leader of the Floor Three Guardians, as Saer entered she bowed to Shadow. "It is an honor to see you my Emperor." She said before rising with a smile. "Saer, good to see you again." Shadow said with a kind smile. "How is the third floor?" Sear shrugged her shoulders. "It's fine as long as we keep Etidorhpa in check." She said as she walked away. Shadow sighed and nodded as a portal opened and spit out Cain and Kreig. "That's the last time I let you make a portal!" Kreig groaned as he stood up and tried to wipe whatever the liquid on him was. "Oh, like you can do any better." Cain retorted. "The last time we used one of your portals I was set on fire and you got thrown into the Nether Realm!" He yelled as they joined the group and sat next to Sear. Next to come was Meteo who bowed to Shadow and sat beside the two brothers. Next was Red and Blue who joined Artificius. "And with that everyone’s here." Shadow said as he snapped his fingers and a circular table appeared before the group. "Everyone sit down, there's a lot to cover." He said tiredly. The group slowly gathered at the table taking their designated seats, once everyone was seated Shadow took a deep breath and started the meeting. "So, we figured out where we are." He said tiredly. "We're in a land known as Equestria, it's... form a little girl’s television show." He said in a resigned tone, over the next several hours Shadow explained what exactly was going and with the help of Artificius he was able to cover all the major events of the show as well as a considerable amount of the fandom. Once everyone was up to speed the reactions varied, some were shocked while others simply accepted the information as fact however eventually the main problem was brought up. "Several hours ago the parents of Twilight Sparkle, Element of Magic died on the first floor and left their daughter to us." Shadow said causing the Floor Guardians to freeze. "So what do we do?" Meteo asked calmly. Shadow sighed. "That's what I gathered you all to discuss." He said tiredly. "At present we have in our position the proverbial 'key to the world'." Shadow said calmly. "The choices made today will not affect just the Shrine but the world as a whole." "Before we decide anything we need to figure out whether we should find a way to return her to Equestrian controlled society or keep her." Sear said calmly. The others looked at each other and nodded in agreement. "Perhaps we should weigh the pros and cons of such a decision first." Kreig countered and the others nodded again. Artificius cleared her throat. "Very well then, as of this current moment the pros are as follows. First we would gain access to one of the Elements of Harmony, a weapon that can be used to imprison beings that are on par with literal gods." "Such a weapon would be extremely useful..." Meteo said slowly. "But from what Emperor Nebula said it requires five others to use, while we would control part of it we wouldn’t be able to use it." Cain countered. "But neither would they." Red and Blue said happily. Shadow smiled. "There is a way to usurp control of the Elements of Harmony." He said causing the others to look at him confused. "The Multiverse is a vast place and there are many stories out there where Twilight gains total control of all the Elements." "That may be true...” Artificius replied with a frown. "But the cost of that is constant training and even then the risk is too great." Shadow nodded. "True but then again we don't follow the rules of this world." He said. "There is a sub-class I have that could be used on the Elements." Aurora gasped and Shadow turned to her with a smile. "You know which it is." Aurora nodded. "It's a sub-class you gave I and all my sisters, it's called Holy Warrior." She said causing the other Guardians to look confused however Artificius nodded in understanding. "Holy Warrior, it's a sub-class that allows the Warrior class to use Holy Magic and any Holy Weapon they acquire." Artificius explained causing the Guardians to look surprised. "The Elements of Harmony do fall under the parameters of a Holy weapon, this means that anyone with the Holy Warrior sub-class could control it with little problem." The group nodded slowly. "So what?" Kreig asked casing the others to look at him. "We train Twilight to have the Holy Warrior class and use her as a simple tool?" He said asked casing some of the group to frown. "I don't know about you all but that's something I can’t condone, the use of a child as a tool or pawn." He said as he slammed his fist on the table. "Nor I." Shadow said calmly. "That's why we gathered the leaders of the Floors here; we must decide what to do with her." "If that's the case then may I make a suggestion?" Sear asked. Shadow nodded. "Go ahead Sear, the floor is yours." Sear bowed her head. "Thank you Emperor Nebula." She said as she stood. "I propose we take the child Twilight Sparkle in and raise her as we would raise any child." She said as she began to walk around the table. "By weighing the benefits of why we should keep her or abandon her we set her fate to forever be a pawn, be it to us or another." She said causing the others to look down and Shadow to smile. "And who would you pose to take care of her Sear?" Sear turned to him and bowed. "I do not know my Emperor however if I may be so bold I would ask she be adopted by you, as a member of the Royal Family she would have access to everything she would need and be well protected." Shadow frowned. "Not the worst idea but I will be taking a more active role in ruling the shrine, I can't always watch over her." "Then we all take on the duty of caring for her and training her." Occhi said quietly casing everyone to turn to her, after a moment Occhi looked up at the group. "I agree with Sear in have Twilight Sparkle be adopted into the Royal Family, Emperor Nebula can teach her how to rule and lead, Lord Artificius can assist in this when Emperor Nebula isn't available however she will also be taught under us, the floor Guardians." Occhi explained. The others sat in silence as they thought for a moment before coming to an agreement. "Very well, Twilight becomes a part of my family; I'll teach her how to rule in a just fashion." Shadow said as he looked at Artificius who nodded. "Artificius will act as her teacher, at least in the academic side." "So what will we be doing?" Kreig asked calmly. "When she is old enough you all to train her in the many ways of combat other skills." Shadow said. "No matter what we do her destiny is too important to be ignored, her life will be a hard one and unlike what Celestia did, I will see to it she is prepared for what's to come." The others nodded or muttered agreements. "So what do you propose we do for her other quirks, from what you said she will be a near total narcotic mess obsessed with books and learning." Meteo said. "Those are habit we will have to break." Shadow said sternly. "While a thirst for knowledge is good it cannot grow into an obsession, we have an entire library to prove that." He said muttering the last part. "She will have plenty of social interaction as well so we don't need to worry about anything involving her... mental conditions." Artificius said confidently. "Most people debate if our personality is simply something we are born with or changes in who we are exposed to, I am of the opinion that the debate of nature and nurture is foolish and it's actually a combination of the two that makes us who we are." "If we are to do this than I have two things to add." Aurora said drawing everyone’s attention. "The first is that she not be anywhere near Etidorhpa till she is of age and has an in-depth understanding of what's right and wrong." She said as she glared at Sear who raised her hands in mock surender. "You have my full agreement on that, she may be my sister but even I know that allowing a child near Etidorhpa is just asking for either rape or mental scars." Sear said as she lowered her hands. "I’ll make sure Etidorhpa is kept on a tight leash." "Kinky." Kreig said with a chuckle only for his brother to smack him. "I'll keep this pervert away as well." Cain said with a sigh. Aurora nodded. "Thank you, my second request is that she spends several years as a Shrine priestess." She said earning a raised eyebrow from the group. "Why do you want this Aurora?" Artificius asked. "Twilight Sparkle is young and the early years of a child are the most important, as a Shrine Maiden we may teach her the ways of the gods and spirits." Aurora replied. "If she is to become member of this family then she must earn the favor of the gods and spirits of the world, just as Father and sisters did, and just as I have." Shadow nodded. "It is true that I spend years serving the ancient spirits, gods and Goddesses of the world, have you fully completed your studies?" He asked receiving a nod from the Head Priest. "Very well, when she is of age she shall become a Priestess for the Shrine till her time has come to train in the ways of combat." On that day Twilight Sparkle was formally adopted into the Shrine of Ascendancy Royal Family and given the named Princess of the Twilight Hour, on that day the fate of the world was forever be changed. Though whether it was for better or worse was something only time would tell. If one were to say that the life of the youngest princess of the Shrine of Ascendancy was interesting they would likely cause any resident of the nine floors to laugh. While the young Twilight Princess was no trouble maker she quickly became known as a trouble magnet. Even as a small child, or filly, she was a hand full. The first few years after Twilight arrived at the Shrine she was looked after by the Shrine Maidens who tended the ninth floor, Aurora, and Occhi. She was restricted to the eighth and ninth floors and had to always have a guardian accompany her. Twilight didn't seem to mind this restriction all that much and would often play with the children of the ninth floor village, if she wasn't playing or drawing trouble to herself she could be found on the eighth floor enjoying the garden or reading books about the many gods and goddesses the shrine allowed to be prayed to. As Twilights grew older the responsibilities she was given grew as well and she began to grow from a care free child to one who was knowledgeable on both the laws of the Shrine and the teachings of the Gods and Goddesses it worshiped. When she turned seven a mark appeared upon her flank in a Flash of light, a six pointed star with two leafs covering it. It was also on this same day that Aurora was given her second condition and she was made a Shrine Maiden, during this time Twilight was taught many rituals, practices and beliefs of the Priestesses. It was also during this time it was discovered that just like any race form Heroes of Heaven she was able to 'Level up' gaining both stat points and Racial Points. This came as a surprise to all the others in the shrine and Shadow was forced to quickly explain the many classes, sub-classes and abilities she now was aware of. When Twilight turned eighteen her father sent her away from the Ninth floor. As he sent her away he gave her a single task, to train with each floor guardian and prove her worth as a both a warrior and leader. With this task set before her she was sent to the first floor where her journey began. Twilight stood in shock as she looked at the doors to the Shrine she had spent her entire life in; tears fell from her eyes as she slowly pushed the doors open hoping to see the Jade Doors of the throne room, instead she saw the shrines of the many gods worshiped in the shrine. She was on the first floor, The Grand Hall. Twilight rubbed her eyes and forced the tears to stop; crying wouldn't help her she thought as she approached the many shrines inside. Slowly she walked through the maze like corridors till she reached the shrine of the ancient goddess Isis, the goddess of magic and wisdom. Slowly she knelt down and bowed her head. "Oh' Goddess, I ask your blessing on the trials ahead. May your Knowledge Guide me in my travels and your Magic light my path." She whispered as she remained in prayer for several moments before rising and turning to the exit. Calmly she walked up the stairs till she reached a set of massive doors forged from iron, on each side stood two massive Golems wearing armor. As she approached the eyes of the Golems glowed a silvery color as they raised two swords crossing them and blocking the path. "Thou knowest not know the heights of heaven above, does thou seek to Ascend to the Throne of God?" Twilight hesitated at the Guardians words however she slowly nodded. "I am a Seeker of Ascendancy, I seek neither fame, fortune nor power, I only seek Peace." She replied causing the Guards to pause before sheathing their blades, grabbing hold of the massive rings set into the doors and heaving them open. "Go then, prove thou are worthy of thy wings, prove thou are worthy to bear the power of a God." They said, Twilight took a deep breath and walked forward through the doors. As she passed through the doors slowly closed behind her and she was left alone on the second floor of the Shrine, The Mountains of Beginning. The Second Floor was a well known challenge with in the shrine, very few of the residents ever went to the floor and even fewer actually came to the floor twice. As Twilight looked over the floor she saw why, the environment wasn't a single mountain either but rather a range spreading out in every direction. Twilight looked around careful trying to discern the highest peak as it was the tallest mountain that held the key to the next floor but because the skyline was dotted with both hundreds of mountain peaks and swathes of small plateaus it was hard to find the right mountain. Twilight thought for a moment before smiling and pulling a few branches of spruce out of her inventory and tired them together with a red ribbon on. "Hear me spirits of the forest, I ask that you guide me to the tallest mountain." She said quietly as she channeled her magic onto the branches. After a moment the branches lifted into the air and began to float off in a random direction. Twilight smiled and began to follow them. Twilight calmly walked through the barren landscape watching her surrounding s cautiously, it had been several hours of hiking and the sun was starting to set. Twilight sighed and grabbed the spruce branches from the air before canceling the enchantment and looking around for a cave. After several more hours of searching she found a cave large enough for her to sleep in and lay down to rest. As she closed her eyes and began to drift off the sound pf rocks falling drew her attention and she looked up to see a small humanoid figure enter the cave. Twilight quickly lit her horn causing the creature to let out a panicked cry and cover its face. "Bright!" It yelled in panic as it fumbled with some form of goggles on its face and quickly pulled them down. "That was rude." They said in a heavily masculine tone and Twilight frowned. "What are you?" She asked wearily. "Names Dogma, I'm a Dwarf, what are you." Dogma asked in a gruff tone as he eyed her "I'm Twilight Sparkle." She said as she dimmed her horn and the dwarf frowned. "I've heard that name before... where did I hear it?" He asked himself before snapping his fingers. "You’re the youngest princess!" He said as he looked at the mare surprised. "What are you doing down here on the second Floor?" He asked. Twilight sighed. "My father sent me down here, I'm to train on each floor and face the guardians to prove my worth." She replied. The Dwarf nodded. "I see, so you've been tasked with the Challenge of Ascension." He said as he eyed her. "You look like you never fought a day in your life." He said causing the Mare to look away. "I see, you don't know what your doing do you?" He asked as Twilight lowered her head. "I learned the basics of battle but I don't know enough to win, I have no armor, weapons or proper training." She said sadly. Dogma leaned back against one of the cave walls. "Then you need to be taught." He said quietly before nodding to himself. "Princess, do you know of my people?" He asked. Twilight nodded. "Dwarves are miners and smiths; you spend your time forging the ores you mine into some of the best armor available on any of the floors. Dogma nodded. "That may be true princess but we are also warriors, many monsters roam the tunes we carve and the mines we craft. My people are strong, one has to be to survive the Second Floor, but you are not strong. To survive the Mountains you must become strong like a Dwarf." He said as he looked at her. "The Quest for Ascension is one that many have taken but few have claimed. This floor was forged through strength by the Half-Golem, Seven-Souls-Lost. He was the Lord of this floor and it was through his strength that the Guardians of Bronze, Steel and Meteo were forged. He stood at the Emperor side till the end. Even if he has past from this land we still pray for his strength and guidance." "So I need to become stronger but how do I do that?" Twilight asked. Dogma smiled. "We may not be able to teach you the ways of war but we can teach you the way of smithing, crafting and mining." Dogma said with pride. "We can help you; teach you the ways of the Dwarf, the ways of the smith." Twilight frowns. "How will this help me, and what's in it for you?" Dogma smiles. "It was our ancestors who taught your father the ways of the blacksmith and in exchange for our knowledge he aided us in the mines, all that you forge will be mined with your own hands or in your case hooves. You will become stronger and better prepared for your trials ahead." Dogma replies. "And you shall mine the ores you need in your lessens and then some for us." Twilight smiled. "Alright it's a deal then, you will teach me the ways of smithing and I will aid in your mine." She said, the Dwarf smiled and spit into his hand before holding it out. Twilight hesitated but moved to follow only for Dogma to sigh. "No Princess, you must do the same!" He said with a sigh. Twilight hesitated but spit in to her hoof and the two shook hands. "Rest princess, tomorrow I take you to our City; there you shall learn and prepare." Dogma said as he lay down against the walls of the Cave. Twilight lay down once more and closed her eyes trying to get some sleep. > Chapter 4: Interlude - Of Monster and Ponies > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Celestia watched sadly as thousands of ponies made their way to the palace. It had taken several years but at last the time had come, today was the day the Noble Houses would fall, or at least some of them. Despite the actions of the Nobles and their attempts to cover things up Celestia had learned that of the thirteen only seven still truly served the people of Equestria and those seven would be chosen to remain in service to the crown. Celestia sighed as she turned away from the balcony and entered her room where on a mannequin her regalia hung, long ago the regalia would have stood as a testament to her achievement but now all it did was remind her of her failures. A sudden knock at the door drew her form her thoughts and she turned to the door where a guard respectfully entered and bowed. "Princess, it's time." He said. Celestia nodded as her magic wrapped around the regalia and with a heavy heard placed it on her being before exiting her room and walking toward the throne room. As she walked memories of the founders of each house flashed through her mind and she felt the ghost of their soul screaming for the justice that was deserved. They would never have allowed these crimes to go unpunished and as she stood before the throne room doors she swore to them she would insure justice was given its due. No matter what her ponies may think of her after. In the courtyard of the castle several magic screens appeared showing the throne room as Celestia walked down it, thousands of ponies quieting as she took her throne and looked into the screens before opening her mouth and speaking. "When Equestria was founded two thousand year ago I and My sister ruled together, but even then we could not manage everything so we decided to select ponies to aid us." She explained calmly. "After my sister was corrupted by the Nightmare and I used the Elements on her turning her into a shell of her former self I was forced to grant further power to these ponies and from them rose the Nobility, Ponies tasked with duties that we could not constantly manage." "These Ponies names were, Princess Platinum the first of House Blueblood, Shinning Pants the first of House Pants, Wise Gold the first of House Gold, Terrell Card the first of House Card, Clover Sunrise the first of House Sunrise, Cuchulain Wolfhelm the first of House Wolfhelm, Specra Wingshadow the first of House Wingshadow, Honored Imperia the first of House Imperia, Fire Ruby the first of House Ruby, War Blood the first of House Blood, Leonard Van Helsing the first of House Helsing, Fleur de Rossignol the first of House Fluer, Bastion Valor the first of House Valor." Once Celestia was done listing off the names she sighed and took a deep breath. "Today, I bring the heads of these once great Families to the light form what they've become." She said her eyes hardening as she looked away from the screen and slowly it panned out showing the whole room. "Bring them out." She said and the throne room doors were slowly opened showing the heads of each noble house in chains. Some calmly walked forward their heads held high while others were pushed by guards as they yelled angrily however once they stood before the throne golden chains latched onto each of them and prevented them from moving. "To day we being the crimes of the Noble families to the light, to day your sins will be judged." She said calmly though every pony could hear the sadness. "We will first start with Prince Ivory Blueblood the twenty-second." "What is the meaning of this aunty!?" Blueblood yelled in fear. "Have you truly lost your mind or did you finally decide to show your true colors!?" Celestia sighed sadly. "Prince Ivory Blueblood the twenty-second; you are convicted of treason to the duel crown of Equestria, grand larceny to the crown, and 1087 accounts of illegal activity ranging from murder to petty theft. How do you plead?" Blueblood stood in shock before screaming. "How dare you thing I would do such things, I’ll have you kno-aaaaaaaaaahHHHHHHHHHH!!!" Blueblood was cut off as he screamed in agony. Celestia sighed. "These chains are enchanted with a truth spell; as long as you are bound you cannot lie." She explained as she turned to the next pony. "Next we have lord Fancy Pants..." Celestia smiled as she lit her horn and the chains around his hooves were broken. "Fancy Pants, you have maintained your families legacy with great care insuring that you have both fulfilled your duties as a purveyor of the highest grade armor and protection for our guards. Furthermore you have remained a loyal confidant and adviser protecting the right of the common pony. No matter how much digging I did I found no links to any activities that warrant your removal, it fills me with pride that you have become such a fine stallion. You are free to return to your duties as a Noble when you see fit." Fancy Pants bowed with a smile. "It is a privilege to serve Equestria and I do not say that simply because of the situation." He said as he approached the throne and took his place off to the side. Celestia smiled however it quickly faded as she turned the next pony in the metaphorical chopping block. “Lord Petty Gold, oh how you live up to your name. In my investigation I read the documents of your family’s steady fall form the Noble house you once were and the depths you have fallen." Celestia sighed as she glared at Petty Gold. "Tell me Petty Gold, what was the duty entrusted to your family, what did I task your ancestors with?" She asked. Petty Gold thought for a moment before sighing. "I will not have you drag my name through the mud princess but so be it." He growled. "My family was entrusted with monitoring and maintaining all finances for the crown." Celestia nodded. "And what is it your family has done for over two hundred years?" She asked narrowing her eyes. Petty Gold growled and looked away. "Robbery, theft and grand larceny." She said angrily. "While your crimes are not as severe as the crimes of your fellow nobles they still are enough to have your status removed, or at least they would be if I had not found that it was you that more often than not financed their actions." She said angrily as she moved the next pony. "Next we come to you Calling Card, you know your ancestor Terrell Card was a kind, caring and skilled stallion. He had such keen senses and intuition that he was often thought to be able to see the future, it's a shame you didn't inherit anything more than his skills. Manipulation of both foreign and domestic Politics, records of hiring mercenaries to antagonize other nations and instigate unrest and conflict I could have you thrown in to the deepest, darkest pit in the deepest cell of the deepest prison and I fear that those who you've wronged would still find you." She said with a sigh. "Due to your actions your trial will be the first where all nations’ leaders will be present for and I will not be lightening any sentence they decide for your twisted life." "You would leave me to be picked apart by animals!" Calling Card roared in anger as he slammed his hooves on the ground. "I did Equestria a favor by showing the true nature of those beasts!" He roared. "Ponies are the superior race and all who see those animals are anything but are brainwashed fools that follow your will as thralls without will or soul!" Celestia sat quietly till the foolish noble was done yelling due to being out of breath. Once he was done Celestias' horn glowed and a strap with a ball attached was fitted on to his mouth. "Now with you silenced we move to the next." She said as she looked at the next pony. “Lady Fallen Sunrise," Celestia sighed. "What happened to your family?" She asked. Fallen Sunrise bowed her head in shame. "I admit we fell, we were tasked with protecting the entire country from the threat of dark magic’s and I admit even to this day we still do but somewhere along the way we became what we swore to destroy." Celestia nodded. "I will admit since you became the head of House Sunrise things have become better and I truly believe that with time you could restore your families honor but even then I fear what would become if your decedents chose to return to this path. I truly do believe that your family has remained loyal to Equestria and I will take into consideration the actions of both you and your parents however I can't allow you to walk free due to the nature of these crimes, though know that you will be receiving the most lenient of all actions." Fallen Sunrise bowed. "Thank you, your majesty." She said with a bow. Celestia nodded as she turned to the next Pony. "Major Lupus Wolfhelm of House Wolfhelm; like Lord Fancy Pants your Family has remained loyal and performed the duties we first entrusted to you. "Your family has served as members of the Elite Guard for generations and even when the loyalty of your family has faltered it has always been handled quickly and efficiently snuffed out." She said with a sad smile. "I still remember many of your family being brought to me under charges of treason." Major Wolfhelm bowed calmly. "If I have failed in my duties as they then I accept any punishment, all I ask is that the sins I have committed not be held to bear against my son." She said calmly. Celestia lit her horn and the Major closed her eyes only for the chains to be broken. "Rise Major Lupus Wolfhelm, you have not committed any crimes." Celestia said causing the Major to look up surprised. "This is a trial of all thirteen houses, yours is no exception. No matter how much I searched I could find on true reason to remove your title of Nobility or authority, you are free to return to your duties as you see fit." Major Wolfhelm bowed before walking to her unit and taking her place in the front of them, many giving nods of respect to her. Celestia smiled and turned to the next Pony. "Lady Surprise Wingshadow, You are perhaps the most difficult one for me to judge, my loyal guard dog. Your duty has forced you to walk many dark roads and for that I wish to apologize, even when my sister sat with me it was she who acted as the Hound of Shadow." Surprise smiled. "I have no regrets princess, if I am judged guilty on this day I'll face my judgement with my head held high." Celestia nodded. "I am glad, but we both know that even if I let you walk free this is merely a stay of execution." Surprise nodded her smile not leaving her face. "I understand your majesty." She said. Celestia eyed her for a moment before lighting her horn and cutting the chains. "You may return to duty when you feel prepared." Celestia said with a sigh. The Pegasus smiled and bowed before disappearing like a shadow. "I live to serve Princess." Her voice whispered around the room before her presence faded. Celestia sighed and seemed to relax slightly. "Totalian Imperia, It's your turn." Celestia said with a glare. Totalian Imperia Smirked. "Go fuck yourself bitch." He said with a smirk. "Even if I die nothing will stop my ideals form spreading." He said. Celestia smiled. "Well that was easy." She said as she looked to the next pony before looking back to Totalian. "Oh and your followers have been rounded up and are undergoing physiological evaluation and deprogramming. Your cult has been disbanded." She said as she moved on Totalians jaw dropping as he sat down in shock. Celestia smiled darkly as she turned to the next on to receive her judgement. "Duchess Shining Ruby, even in the early days of the nobility your family was always trouble." She said with a sigh. "I guess it's no surprise you ended up the way you did." "You think I will cower in the face of your wrath?" Duchess Ruby snarled. "You and all creatures are no better than insects when compared to we Pegasi." She said with venom. Celestia sighed. "Ah yes, I never forgot your stance on Pegasus supremacy." She said as she shook her head. "Each tribe was gifted a unique gift or if you look at where they came from, a curse." She said as she looked off into the distance. "A Punishment by the Goddess Faust for our arrogance and the destruction of Dream Valley, destruction brought about by the feuding of the three tribes of pony. I believe that Princess Platinum ruled as Queen during that time and I and my sister rarely had reason to involve ourselves in Pony affairs." She said. Duchess Ruby frowned and opened her mouth however Celestia cut off what she was about to say. "In any case your crimes are on par with those of Calling Card however comparing the crimes themselves is like comparing a hill to the mountains." She said as she glared at the Duchess. “One thousand and seventy five confirmed murders of multiple ponies across Equestria of all three tribes, forty-three burned and destroyed cities confirmed in the Minotaur Republic, almost two hundred Griffon villages burned to the ground and over thirty Griffon Chicks rape and murder by your hands alone!" She said her main sparking and for a moment catching fire as her eyes slit becoming draconic. "What do you have to say now!?" She yelled angrily. Duchess Ruby smirked as she looked at her fellow nobles however even they seemed to look upon her in shock and disgust. Calling Card muffledly cried out something and looked at Celestia pleadingly who sighed and undid the ball gag. "Thank you." He muttered before turning to the Duchess. "What were you thinking!?" He yelled. The Duchess scoffed. "Please, like you have any room to talk. She said as she waked her hoof at him. "You committed the same crimes; my only regret is that I didn't get to those filthy winged lizards." Calling Cards face turned red which was a feat in itself as he had red fur and exploded. "I was may have manipulated the governments, hired mercenaries to antagonize other nations and instigate conflict, I may see them as barbaric animals but even I would never stoop so low as to willingly commit mass murder! I never would kill ponies and even if I in sighted uprisings I proposed that the other races be used as slaves or treated like pets. I would never have done what you did ever!" He yelled in rage. "I may spend the rest of my life in prison but I did what I did for the betterment of Equestria, you on the other hand could only have done it for your own pleasure or some twisted beliefs!" "And coming from him that's pretty fucked up." Celestia muttered before looking back at the Duchess. "Your fate will be decided the same day as Calling Cards' before a counsel of all rulers. I would recommend you enjoy your last days alive however as many are calling for your head." She said as she moved away her horn lighting as she placed a silence enchantment on the screaming mare. Celestia smiled as she turned to the remaining Nobles. "The rest of you have remained loyal to Equestria and its citizens and I apologize for dragging you out as I did but I was forced to do this as a way to place judgement on all thirteen houses." As she explained this she broke the chains and returned to her throne. Outside the ponies in the court yard watched with rapt attention as Celestia took several breaths and spoke. "And now with those who remain in their chains, excluding the former nobles’ Calling card and Shining Ruby." She said causing every pony to watch with excitement. Celestia sighed as she looked at the condemned. "Ivory Blueblood the twenty-second, you are here by stripped of noble title and rights, you will spend a minimum of thirty years in prison for your crimes, there will be no chance for parole." She said in a tired voice. Blueblood began to scream however Celestia simply took the ball gag and shoved it in his mouth before fastening it. "Petty Gold, you are hereby stripped of all noble titles and rights, sentenced to fifteen years to life, bail and or probation will be permitted, finally you are expected to pay all money taken in full from over the past twenty years." She said and the con man nodded. "As you will Princess." He said as he hung his head defeated. Celestia turned to Fallen Sunrise and said nothing for a time before sighing. "Under normal circumstances the crimes of one, Fallen Sunrise would warrant banishment at minimum however this is a special case where the duty that the crown charged the individuals family was at fault and as such this crime lies for the Crown to decide as necessary. Due to the fact that Fallen Sunrise is both aware of her violation as well as attempts to resolve the matter without interference of the law I see no reason to instate a banishment but rather rehabilitation." She said causing Fallen Sunrise to look up in shock. "As such I temporarily strip House Sunrise of authority and action but not Noble status, once it has been determined by medical officials that Fallen Sunrise is mentally stable and clear of all Dark magic's effects authority will be returned." As Celestia said this, tears began to fall down Fallen Sunrise face and she bowed to the princess. "Thank you majesty, I will not let you down." She said in a shaky voice. "I do not give out second chances often when magic such as what have been used are involved; do not make me regret granting you this." Celestia said as she turned to Totalian Imperia. "Totalian Imperia, while I would love to give you a much heavier sentence I must abide the laws set at present time and as such I sentence you to life in prison. I don't think I even need to explain that cults with plans to over throw the crown and instate a communistic approach to society are highly illegal and a form of treason that warrant at least this." Totalian Imperia didn't respond simply looking at the ground his life broken. "With the sentencing of these four criminals I adjourn the day court for the remainder of this and the following day as well as cancel the night court." She said as she rose and exited the throne room while the four convicted were removed as well and the ponies outside dispersed many talking about the incident and what this meant for the future of Equestria as a whole. High up in the rafters of the throne room a woman in her early twenties with long rust red hair and silver colored eyes, from her lower back sprouted two metal wings and her eyes have a cybernetic appearance with the left eyes pupal appearing to be a targeting crosshair. She wore a form fitting black suit with glowing blue electrical lines around it and on her chest was a black chest plate. Her boots were a pair of extremely light black ones and around her neck was a black camo scarf; a pair of goggles with night vision and heat tracking was on her forehead keeping the hair out of her face. The women silently dropped down and as she fell her body began to disappear as she activated her active camouflage. Ecx calmly exited the throne room and walk to a balcony where she leapt off, her wings institutionally flaring as she flew home. Her father would want to hear about this. > Chapter 5: Interlude - Of Monster and Ponies Part 2 > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- It had been a month since Celestia had stripped the nobles of their power and since then the life of not just Equestrian Citizens but rather all of the races that lived in Equestria had improved; while the improvement was not a significant amount it still reaffirmed the choices of the royals and proved the balance of power was at last shifting. However despite such improvements an announcement the day prior had been sent out requesting all ponies to be present for a final announcement. For many ponies there was no need to wonder if this was the trial Princess Celestia spoke of Everypony gathered on the town squares or around Canterlot Castle waiting to see the final verdict of the trial; though many knew that with such crimes Equestria may very well have its first execution in over seven hundred years. As they gathered they saw the screens already up and active when they reached the palace and for those that couldn't be there in person were waiting in anticipation as similar screens appeared around all of Equestria. Finally they saw Celestia however what drew their attention was the second Alicorn at her side. Walking beside Celestia was her sister, Princess Luna, however many of the ponies were shocked by her condition. The lunar sister appeared as if she were a skeleton with skin stretched over it, her wings drooped and feathers fell from them as she walked slowly each movement seeming to bring pain. Celestia stood beside her sister a sad look on her face as she guided her sister to her throne and set her down before facing the screens. "Greeting's my dear ponies, today I bring an announcement as well as news of the trial." She said in a tired voice. "The Trial for former nobles Calling Card and Shining Ruby will be held later today as all but a few royals have arrived and the remaining ones will be arriving within the hour." She said a small smile playing on her face. "However at present I would like to announce the replacement for the six positions for noble titles." She said as she nodded her head and the sound of doors opening was heard. The first to enter the view of the screen were the seven houses that remained. The first to enter was Lord Fancy Pants of House Pants; next marching on to the screen was Major Sparkling Wolfhelm of House Wolfhelm followed closely by the mysterious Surprise Wingshadow of House Wingshadow. After her entrance Silver Blood of House Blood walked in followed by Abraham Van Helsing of House Helsing and lastly walked Fleur de Lis of House Fleur and Major Valkyrie Valor of House Valor. "Bring in the selected candidates." Celestia said and the sounds of hooves were heard with the first appearing being a stallion. "Shinning Armor member of the Minor Noble House Sparkle, son of Lord Nightlight Armor and Lady Twilight Velvet, descendent of the great wizard Starswirl the Bearded; you stand before the crowns of Equestria in a time of great change. I ask you, will you take up the mantle of leadership and join the ranks of the Noble Class?" Celestia asked calmly. Shinning Armor bowed. "I shall your majesty; I pledge myself and my decedents to serve under you and to protect the citizens of this great nation." He said calmly. Celestia nodded. "Then I name you the first of the Noble House of Sparkle, my you guide Equestria with the strength and wisdom of your ancestors." She said as Shining Armor rose and took his place beside his fellow Nobles. Next to walk out was a stallion with a black mane and tail with a white coat and blood red eyes. "Record Scratch of the Minor Noble House Scratch, you and your ancestors have served this nation with duty guarding secrets withheld from any library but yours, I know you have many duties as it stand but I ask if you would honor the crown by taking up the charge of the Noble Class." Celestia asked as Record Scratch bowed. "If it is the will of the crown I shall serve with conviction and honor your majesties." He said as he bowed. Celestia nodded. "Then I name your house a member of the Nobility, may you guide Equestria with the wisdom of your ancestors." She said as Record Scratch rose and took his place beside his fellow Nobles. Celestia sighed as she looked at her sister who nodded and rose. "With the next step forward?" She asked, her voice a harsh whisper that was amplified by a spell. Slowly a mare stepped forward, she bore a black mane and tale with a charcoal gray coat and her eyes were a piercing gold. The mare moved smoothly as if she exerted little effort or energy but the movement were not graceful but rather mechanical. "You summoned me your majesties?" The Mare asked as she bowed. Indeed; Lady Sharp Philharmonica of House Philharmonica, I ask you to take up the mantle of Nobility and server Equestria as your ancestors did long ago." Luna said calmly. The Mare tilted her head in thought. "Are you sure your majesties? My family relinquished the title of Nobility three centuries ago for a reason, are you sure you wish to reinstate us as Nobles?" She asked. Luna nodded. "We are; will you take up your ancient mantle?" Sharp Philharmonica bowed. "If the crown wills out return then we shall serve as we did long ago." She said and Luna nodded. "Then rise and take your place." She said as Sharp Philharmonica rose and joined her fellow nobles. The next to walk out of the doors was two Pegasus both bowing to the princesses as they reached the thrones. "Bow Hothoof and Windy Whistles, your family has served Equestria since the days of the Unification as warriors and protectors of Equestria. Today we ask you to be the first family in over one thousand years to ascend from civilian to Noble, do you accept?" "It would be our honor, your majesty." Bow Hothoof said calmly. Celestia nodded. "Then rise and take your place as Nobles of Equestria." She said as they two rose and Celestia smiled. "Commander Hurricane would be so proud right now." She said as the two joined the other nobles. The next to walk out the doors was an elderly pony with graying mane and tail with a light green coat. The Elderly mare was accompanied by a stallion with a red coat and orange mane and tail that looked no older than a teen. "Ah, Smith Apple, it is a pleasure to see you again." Celestia said as she bowed to the old mare who waved her hoof. "Cut the bowing Celestia and come down here so I can get a look at ya!" The old Apple yelled happily. Celestia rose and approached the old mare who squinted at her. "Ya, better cut back on the Cake or yer flank is gonna get stuck in a door." She commented causing Celestia to blush as the old mare looked at the Luna sister. "And Luna, ya need to eat yer sisters’ cake, put some fat on them bones of yours before ya waist away." Luna nodded. "Yes Miss Smith, I will" She said. "I assume you want to skip the formalities as always?" She asked. The Elder Apple chuckled. "I accept, the apple family'll whip these boys back into the upstanding nobles I meber from my youth and if I can't I'll beat the reaper himself back till I do." She said as she pounded her cane on the marble floor. "Now if you'll excuse me I need to sit down; ol'hips ain't what they use to be." She said as she walked forward and sat on Celestias throne before immediately falling asleep. They young stallion seemed embarrassed as he slowly walked over and joined the other nobles however as he reached them he was greeted with respectful nods and pats on the shoulder. Every Equestrian know of the Apple family and their dedication to Equestria, none would dare talk ill of them lest they incur the wrath of all. Celestia smiled as she turned to the doors. "Let the next pony in." She said calm. As the pony entered many of the ponies in the room began to frown or mutter; the mare that entered walked with arrogance and pride that would make the former prince Blueblood to blush in envy. "You called me your majesties?" The mare asked as she saluted the rulers. Celestia sighed. "We did Captain Spitfire, I asked you here to represent your house, House Blaze." She said. Spitfire smirked. "Let me guess you want me to become a Noble like these other wash outs?" She asked. Luna grit her teeth but Celestia simply frowned. "No, you're house has been called to temporarily fill the place of the Sunrise House." She said calmly. "At present House Sunrise is undergoing rehabilitation and I would ask that your house fill the position till she may return to her duties." Celestia said calmly. Spitfire seemed to consider the offer before shrugging. "Sure." She said offhandedly. "You litle- do you have any idea the honor it is to be considered for such a position!?" Shining Armor yelled angrily. "Did you even consider the reasonability of such a task?" Spitfire shrugged. "I don't care." She said with a smirk. "Do you know how good this will look on my record? Hell this alone could get me a promotion in the Wonderbolts!" She said proudly. Many of the Nobles stared in shock as Surprise, Major Wolfhelm and Abraham and eyed Spitfire with looks ranging from distaste to disgust; Fancy Pants was holding Shining armor back as he tried to charge the arrogant mare. Celestia sighed. "Very well, take your place among the other nobles." She said with a sigh. "There's always one she muttered as her sister paced a hoof on her shoulder. After several moments Celestia turned to the screens. "The Trial of Calling Card and Shining Ruby will be held in a few hours." She said in a tired voice as she motioned to somepony and the screens deactivated. Several hours later the rulers of the many races of the world sat within a special court room; this room had been locked away centuries ago having last been used over three thousand years ago to charge the fallen Spirit of Chaos Discord for his crimes. If there was one thing a member of any race never wanted to be, it would be the defendant in the Court of the World; the Court of the World was held in Canterlot where High Queen Faust once ruled, here all races and beings from the lowest criminal to the highest of royalty were welcome with creatures of all walks of life flanking the wide aisle where the former Equestrian Nobles Calling Card and Shining Ruby were being escorted by four Royal Guards on four on each side and an equal number of Night Guards on the other. As the two defendants reached the podium the guards chained them to the ground and left as they did a pony stepped forward and cleared her throat. "Announcing the Arrival of the Rulers and judges of this trial..." He paused and looked at the list in his hoof. "Representing the Pegasus, Earth Pony and Unicorn Races; Princess Celestia of the Sun." He said as Celestia calmly walked out and took her seat at the center throne. "Representing the Thestral, Arcania Golem and Reaper Races; Princess Luna of the Moon." As Luna stepped forward she many of the ponies present murmured as it was rare for her to make appearances and two in a single day must have been taxing. "From the Chaos Races we have Queen Sekhmet representing the Sphinx, Lady Eris representing the Draconequus, Prince Neddur representing the Gargoyle, Lady Gaia Representing the Deer and King Seishi representing the Goats." He said as they all exited the back room and made their way to the thrones provided. "Next we have the representatives of the tribal and nomadic races; presenting High Shaman Alchimeía of the Zebra Tribes, King Acadone of the Seaponies and Siren, Queen Nova of the Hippogriff Race, Chancellor Valhorn of the Minotaur Republic, King Talon of the Griffon Empire, Dragon Lord Torch of the Dragon Lands, Queen Titania of the Flutter Ponies, Breezie and Changeling Hives, Black Ash of the Phoenix and Wendigo Races and finally King Dainn of the Caribou." As The Pony finished his list he took a deep breath and collapsed as the last of the rulers entered and took their seats. Celestia sighed and looked at her fellow rulers. "It's been to long since many of us have spoken and I wish it was under better circumstances." She said sadly before turning to the defendants. "Now let the tria-" A sudden light ripped through the room and everyone froze as a figure appeared on the highest throne. The Figure was an Alicorn with a red mane and tail, cream colored fur and a cutie mark of an inkwell and quill. At the mares side stood two beings, one a Pegasus like creature in golden armor however she appeared like an angle with a pure white coat and mane as well as six wings; the second was a demonic being, bearing three horns and bat like wings with a whip like tail. "Forgive the lateness." She said calmly. "I had matters of which required my attention." As she spoke all the creatures in the room as well as the royals bowed low as the announcer rose and cleared his throat as he shook slightly. "Announcing the appearance of her royal highness, High Queen Faust; Represented of the Angelic and Demonic Races of Eques..." He said in a shaky voice. Faust looked over the rulers and frowned. "hmm, I'd have thought he'd come for this... then again it doesn't concern him yet so I suppose he'll simply be content to watch for now." She muttered before shaking her head. "Princess Celestia you may proceed with the Trial, I'm simply here as representative and observer." She said calmly. Celestia bowed. "As you wish, Your Majesty." She said as the other rulers rose and turned back to face the two ponies in chains. "To day before all of Eques has gathered, the evidence of your crimes laid bare, your sins shown and the masks you've worn torn away. With all this evidence your guilt is a foregone conclusion in the eyes of all and your sentence decided. However we must follow tradition. Calling Card, you have been charged with the manipulation of both foreign and domestic politics of Equestria. We hold both evidence and testimonies that you are responsible for hiring mercenaries to antagonize other nations and instigate unrest and conflict. The results of your actions has been the destabilization of the Griffon Empires entire political structure, continued unrest and segregation between Minotaur Tribes, and an Unconfirmed Death count of over twenty-eight thousand individuals by indirect action and that is a conservative estimate. However as we, the collective rulers, pooled our knowledge we have found an additional slave ring selling all manner of races including your own to members of Saddle Arabia, Dragonia, Japonie, Mexicolt and Prance. A deeper and more in-depth joined investigation collaborated by all nations is currently underway however the evidence as it stands is enough to convict you to execution. How do you plead Calling Card?" Calling Card grits his teeth as he glared at the princesses. "I did what I did for the betterment of Equestria." He said calmly. "Perhaps I was misguided in my ideals but I will not change them. All I ask is that I not be executed as no matter how depraved I may seem I never executed anyone willingly or directly." Celestia sighed. "Calling Card, despite your crimes this counsel has deemed that execution is stills a punishment unfit for your crimes. You have lied, cheat, stolen and conned your way through life and as such we know that even death will not hold you." She stated calmly. As she finished Prince Neddur of the Gargoyles and Lady Eris of the Draconequus rose and spoke. "This counsel has deemed you a threat to the stability of the world and Harmony as a whole." She said. "As such it has been decided for your crimes of trickery the races of tricks and chaos are permitted your punishment." Prince Neddur said as he opened his hand and under him a portal opened releasing rusted chains that latched onto his hooves. "As a punishment for your trickery, we sentence you to the first floor of Tartarus Prison; here you shall be forced to roll a boulder endlessly up a steep hill. You may not be assisted; you may not be given any tools to help you." He said as his hand glowed and a brand appeared on Calling Cards back. "Furthermore I brand you with a Gargoyle Curse, until you can role the boulder to the top and keep it there you cannot die but you will still age." He said calmly as the stallion screamed in agony as he was dragged into the portal. Celestia looked away sadly while the other leaders watched the stallion be dragged into the portal with cold stares. Once the portal closed Shining Ruby was shoved up to the podium. Luna rose and addressed the convicted mare with a look of hate. "Shinning Ruby, you have been charged with the murders of one thousand and seventy-five confirmed ponies across Equestria and an estimated twenty-thousand more, forty-three confirmed destroyed cities in the Minotaur Republic with the murder of four tribes and estimated seventy-two more, almost two hundred Griffon villages burned to the ground and over thirty Griffon Chicks rape and murder." Luna smiled as he looked at the mare. "Furthermore we have confirmed the planned assassination of the princesses of Equestria, the enchanted daggers would have been a good attempt by the way." she said with a smirk. "We as the collective rulers pooled our knowledge and have found you guilty of the crimes of racism, treason, piracy, grand larceny, murder of the first degree, rape and sexual actions against multiple minors." She finished as Celestia rose. "Sinning Ruby, you are not given right to plead your case, you are not given right to dispute charges, as for his moment all rights given by the Laws of Sentience have been removed from you." Celestia said calmly. "For your crimes you are to be executed immediately and your corpse left to rot where it is killed. There will be no burial, no funeral or any form of last request." She said coldly as her horn began to glow. "Of course there won't be a need for any of that anyway." She sad with distaste as she released a beam of solar magic at the mare who screamed in pain as her flesh melted away and she turned to ash. Celestia sighed a she sat down and the other rulers nodded. Slowly Faust rose and addressed the crowd who stood in shocked silence at what they had witnessed. "Let this be both a lesson and reminder to all; there are lines to be drawn, crimes so horrid that they are erased form the records of history. Many tiles we choose to conceal or hide these criminals as it is they that bring out our darkest side; however this trial was permitted to be public under mush debate. Though I act as observer the fact I permitted these forms of punishment to be used should state enough. With these criminals punished I adjourn this court." She said calmly causing those present to bow and leave. Once all in the crowed left the rulers rose however Faust cleared her throat causing them to look to her. "I ask you all to stay, there is a presence her that wishes an audience." She said as a figure dropped from the rafters and landed before the rulers. As the figure landed the rulers quickly noticed she was young female though her species was unknown as none had ever seen one of her kind before. The women had long rust red hair and from her lower back sprouted two metal wings. As she rose they saw her eyes were faintly glowing silver however they had as strange unnatural appearance to them and the left eyes pupal appearing to be a targeting crosshair. She wore a form fitting black suit with glowing blue electrical lines around it and on her chest was a black chest plate. Her boots were a pair of extremely light black and around her neck was a black camo scarf; a pair of goggles rested on her forehead keeping the hair out of her face. The women were silent as she landed almost as if she was not even there. The women eyes the rulers for a time before she reached behind her back and pulled a rolled up parchment and placed it on the ground in front of her. For a moment none of the rulers moved before Luna spoke. "Will you speak?" She asked only to receive a nonverbal rely in the form the women shaking her head. "I see is this a message for us?" The Women nodded and rose from her bow. For a moment none of the rulers know what to do before the letter was lifted and a glowing orange aura and drawn toward Queen Sekhmet of the Sphinx. As it reached her she took it and unrolled it before reading aloud. "Greetings rulers of this realm, I am Emperor Nebula ruler of Yusei no Jinja. Though I have yet to make myself or my realms known I bring to you greetings form the Ascended. Despite my desire to remain out of your worlds conflicts certain events have forced my hand to reveal myself and I felt that this gathering was the most appropriate time to do so. When the time is right I shall send an emissary to the land of Equestria; in this world’s darkest hour. Till then I shall remain hidden but be warned; on the longest day of the thousandth year the stars shall align and aid a great Darkness in their escape. When the day comes I shall send my representative to your aid but know that all actions hold a price and I will demand something in exchange for this act of assistance." She finished calmly. As she finished the women bowed and stepped backward her body disappearing as she activated her active camouflage and lefty the room the rulers staring in shock at what had just transpired. > Chapter 6: Forged in the Fire - Path to Ascension > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Twilight calmly stood over an anvil, she wore a brown leather apron, a set of tinted goggles and her hooves were covered in wraps as she griped a hammer. Laying upon the anvil was a suit of armor that glowed red as she slammed the hammer into it slowly bending it to the shape needed behind her stood several dwarf watched her smelt and pointed out ways to improve her skills. After several hours the armor was finished and one of the dwarfs stepped forward cleared his throat causing Twilight to stop and look to him. "You have done well young princess." He said as he examined the armor. Twilight smiled. "Thank you Elder Forlum." She said with a bow. The Elder nodded. "When you came here I did not believe you would be capable of learn our ways but you have surpassed any expectations, in only a few months you have mastered what takes we dwarfs years." He said with a small bit of pride seeping into his voice. "You humble me Elder but I could not have advanced without the guidance of Dogma and the other dwarfs that taught me." She said calmly. The Elder smiled and chuckled. “You are like your father." The elder said with a smile. "He too mastered our secrets quickly though you learned them much faster, his kindness and humility have worn upon you and made you into a fine mare." The Elder smile faded slightly as he looked at her. Twilight had grown slightly since she had arrived, her legs had become slender and her muscled now showed firmly against her coat. "Young Princess, you have been with us for many months and learned the secrets of the earth from us, from our dark cousins you learned magic’s and runes but sadly I feel it is time for you to continue the journey you began so long ago." Twilight seemed confused and moved to speak but the Elder raised a hand. "You have done nothing wrong child but we sadly have very little left for you to learn." He explained. "I... I understand Elder." Twilight said sadly. "It had been an honor and I promise that I will continue to hone my skills." She said with a bow that the Elder returned. "Please your highness, the honor was ours but I would ask you not leave yet." he said as he turned to the many gathered dwarfs. "My People, today we celebrate the rise of a now Master Smith!" He called out. "The Young Princess has proved her skill but as we all know, she cannot stay with us. However today is not a day of lament and sorrow but of rejoicing!" He called with pride. "Let us celebrate the Princesses departure with a grand feast fit for the great Lord Seven-Souls-Lost!" He yelled and the dwarves cheered in joy. The Elder turned to Twilight and smiled. "Tonight we dine in the great halls of our forefathers, and celebrate as we have not in centuries, after I ask you meet me before you leave on your journey. I have somethings to give you." He said as he walked away. Twilight smiled as she joined the dwarfs as they left to celebrate. Shining Armor sighed as he stepped through the door to the family manor. "Difficult day Master?" Asked a stallion dressed in the dark suit of a butler as he appeared with a bow. "You don't know the half of it Alastair." Shining said to the butler. Alastair smiled. "I remember when your father first became the head of the house; he was so busy that the mistress had me lock him out of the study on occasion to make him relax." The butler said with a chuckle as he took Shining’s coat. "I can't imagine you serving in the Guard and acting as a Noble is easy." Shining sighed as he entered the study. "Why must our family always suffer so much, sure it's earned us a good reputation and we respect the common pony but honestly why must our house shoulder the weight of responsibility?" He asked as he sat down and sighed. "It doesn’t help that you have to take up the slack after-" Alastair paused and bowed. "Forgive me master." Shining waved a hoof. "It's fine Alastair, you know them better than I did and I won’t lie that that doesn’t make me envious." He said sadly. "But I still don't think they killed Twilight." Alastair sighed. "Master how long will you hold on to this foalish belief?" he asked. Shining turned to the butler with a grimace however instead he rose and motioned for the butler to follow him. The two walked out of the room and down the halls of the manor till they reached a set of large double doors that Shining pushed open revealing what looked like the master bedroom. "Master, Why are we in your parents room?" Alastair asked concerned. Shining went to a small jewelry box on the nightstand and pulled out a small glowing pendant. "Do you know what this is?" He asked. "That would be a Mana stone made from your magic." Alastair replied. Shining nodded. "Every parent makes these when their child is born; they are then linked to the one whose magic it is made from. When the pony dies the stone will crack and stop glowing." He explained as he pulled out two others. "Mom kept everyponies here together, when she and dad died theirs stopped glowing but..." Shining trailed off and pulled out a third crystal pendent that glowed brightly. "Rather than die this one was simply dim and over the years it's light has only grown stronger." Alastair’s' eyes widened as he saw the pendent. "That's your sister pendent but that means..." He trailed off in shock. "Have you told the princesses about this?" Shinning nodded. "They and the Griffon King know but aside from them and you no one else does." Shining said as he returned the pendants to the chest however as he went to return his sisters Alastair stopped him. "Take her pendant." He said calmly. "If you ever find her then this pendent will tell you." He said his voice soft as he took the pendant and tied it around shining’s neck. "You will find her but for now keep it with you." He said as he looked at the3 young stallion. "Hold it close and keep it safe." He said quietly. Shining nodded and closed the jewelry box quietly before the two stallions left. "You should go rest master, tomorrow is another long day." He said. "Thank you Alastair for everything." Shining said as he turned and walked down the halls leaving the butler outside the doors to the master bedroom. Alastair sighed and walked down the halls to the servants’ quarters where he entered his room and changed into a pair of pajamas and looked out the window. "Where ever you are my lady I ask you remain safe, for your brother’s sake please." He said as he looked up at the night sky. "Oh Luna, I have not spoken to your night in so long but I suppose that there is no better time." He said quietly. "If you will hear this humble butlers request I ask you to watch over my lost young mistress. Protect her and watch over her till the time she may return to us." He prayed before entering his bed and drifting into the land of dreams. Deep within the palace lay the Lunar Wing; dedicated to the princess of the night, the halls were always cast in deep shadows and patrolled by the Thestral Night Guard. As the end of the main hall stood a door carved from black oak and behind that door was a bed set in a circular chamber. These were the chambers of the Lunar Princess of Equestria and aside from the bed and its occupant the only other thing in the room was a single guard who watched over the princess. It was here that she often spent her days in slumber battling the curse she had been inflicted with a thousand years ago. Fortunately the Lunar Princesses single duty in the waking world was the raising of the moon and bringing the night, a duty that her sister had long since taken up as her curse worsened. Now the Lunar Princess was rarely seen awake as the strain on her body was often too great but just because she was not awake did not mean she was negligent in her duties. Within the Dream Realm Princess Luna performed the duties of all princess, she held night court, patrolled the Dream Realm for Nightmares and interacted with her subjects tending to their needs and keeping them happy. On this night she sensed someponies plea and for a moment her eyes opened to the waking world. Though Luna often lay in a deep sleep she would often awaken when she sensed something and was often known to give riddle like warning of the future itself; every guard know that when she awoke they were to listen carefully and deliver what she said word for word to Celestia no matter what it was. And so as Luna awoke the Guard who was standing by her side snapped to attention and listened. "The one who disrupted Harmony shall appeared, a whispering evil lies rises once more. On the longest day of the thousandth year the stars shall aid in their escape." She said in a weak voice. "Understood Princess, I shall send word immediately." The Guard said, Luna nodded and closed her eyes returning to her slumber as the guard quickly exited the room and ran for Celestia's chambers. Twilight sighed as she entered the large room where the Elder asked her to meet. "I wondered when you'd get here." He said as he sat quietly in the corner. Twilight chuckled. "Sorry to keep you waiting Elder." She said as he waved his hand. "It's fine, Dwarven celebrations are something we all enjoy and as it’s your send off they wanted to make it special." He said as he stood. "Now I have some gifts for you. He said as he approached a table with several sheets covering the items on it. "First I give you a sat of armor, custom made for you to wear." He heard as he returned to a covered item. Twilight slowly approached and reached a hoof out and removed the sheet revealing a shining suit of gold. "Well, are you gonna gawk all day or take it?" He asked snapping Twilight out of her shock. "Right, I'll try it on." She said as she slowly picked up the armor and examined the pieces before pulling them on. "They fit perfectly." She said with a smile and the Elder nodded. "Good, the will serve you well in the days to come. All the dwarves helped in some capacity in the construction of it as a thank you for your dedication and determination." He said as he gestured to the next item "Next I give you a sword I forged myself, this is my thank you and way of honoring you." He said with a smile. Twilight slowly used her magic to unwrap the blade and her eyes widened. The Blade was housed in an ornate sheath carved with symbols, slowly her magic gripped the blade and she pulled it free her mouth curling into a smile as she examined it. The craftsmanship was extraordinary and the blade was perfectly balanced to her. "Her name is Eclipsed Sky, take good care of her." He said sternly. Twilight nodded as she returned it to its sheath. "I promise to always cherish it elder." She said as she bowed to him. The Elder nodded. "Rest well tonight Twilight, tomorrow you will face the floor Guardians of the First Floor. > Annoncement > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hello Everyone, I'd like to announce that this story will be going on a temporary hiatus. The cause of this is due several reasons the first of which is the amount of work this story is and that I can not devote the time needed to keep it updated. The second reason is due to the fact I have several stories that I'd like to work on more than I am and as I said in the first reason this one is taking up a lot of time that I could be using to do other stories I feel more invested in at the moment. Right now I am cutting down on which stories I'm working on to make way for several new stories that will be coming out and several already available stories I want to get back to doing more regular updates on. I plan to start working more on Project Clockwork, Returning Home II - Rise of the Eternal Empire, The Magic Smith and Broken World. I'm also in the final stages of editing and reworking my first story ever The Return of the Reaper of Life which has been on a full hiatus for almost two full years. Finally I have at most three new stories planned to release some time in the future, all of which have a bit of work already completed on them. Now this hiatus is not permanent as I'll be returning to write this story after I finish my other projects and get time to work on it. However it may be a long time in the future before I can return to this story and due to the large amount of work and time it takes to write a single chapter I'm going to have to say that it's going to be on hiatus for a while. I thank you for your understanding on this issue and hope you will at least give one of my ther stories a try. Sincerely. Walter D. Arceaion
