A Love Story Between a Princess and her Assassin

It all happens at thousands of years ago. Two alicorn Princesses were born, they're the last hope for the survival of alicorn kind. Mysterious assasinations, mysterious disappearances, were driving alicorn kind to a suspicion that everyother kind was threatful so they keep the princesses safe and as their father, King Solar Fire, was the most powerful alicorn at that time nopony dared to touch them. His wife Queen Mother Nature, was assassinated when her daughters were too young to even understand what happened to her. There were rumors that the Shadow ponies were responsible. Now you might ask 'Who the hell are these ponies?', well that's something that our character will tell you.

In the black, dark and scary Everfree forest was a little village. It was in that village that shadow ponies lived, ruled by 'Shadow King', his real name is a mystery so everypony just call him 'Shadow King'. They once served the Alicorns, but due to their behavior they were banish. Some say that Shadow King was accused of treason by his former Queen, others say that was a misunderstanding when the King was found dead during the guard shift of 'Shadow King'. Angered by being banished after all that the shadow ponies did for that realm, he had sworn vengeance. Years later, 'Shadow King' had returned and by himself, with so much pain and regret, he killed his former queen. Some say that he and the 'Queen' had a romantic relationship, that was what makes it harder for him to kill her, but he had to do it to prove their innocence. After that, he took over the throne and banish everypony in that realm. Now this village serves as a recruiting camp, for newborn Shadow ponies, to prove themselves worth of being assassins they had to pass a test. One point: Survival, he's sent to the darkest place and he had a few days to return to the recruit camp, if he fails or if he dies, obviously he can't join. Second: They can't be seen by their targets. Third and the last point: They can't, at any moment, fall in love with their targets or show some kind of affection for them. It's at this point that I introduce you, Shadow Night. Shadow Night is responsible for killing the Alicorns on the Crystal Empire, a job that made him a very special contact for the 'Shadow King'.

Contact is a term used by Shadow ponies to specify that they're assassins. Basically, they're the ones that take speific targets, normally from the King scrolls but they could be paid by stranges to assasinate their desired targets.

Here we are, on Shadow Night's house, a dark blue unicorn stallion, at the age of twenty (Consider the age of the characters as the age of humans). With a successful history of important assassinations, including the Alicorns from the Crystal Empire, he's ready for another mission. At his door, the mail guy knocked. He ran to go get his new mission.

"Hello, dude. Got something new for me?" Shadow Night asked

"The usual. A letter from 'Shadow King'. Got to go this letters can't be delivered by themselfes." Said the mailguy as he ran to the next doors delivering packges and letters.

He closed his door, find a comfortable place to sit on and opened the letter.

'Hi. Here's your great King. This is your new target Highly priority. These alicorn Princess Luna is the next of our list. She lives in Canterlot with her father and her older sister. I will personally give you a tip if you kill these three. HAIL TO SHADOW PONIES.´

"Oh... Well this will be an easy target. And a tip if I kill the three of them. Let's do this." Shadow Night said.

During a trip to the Crystal Empire, Princess Luna and her sister were being transported in different wagons. Celestia's wagon was a little far away from Luna's wagon, but if something bad happens she could come up and save her sister. Since the only way to get to Crystal Empire using wagons is to pass throught Everfree Forest, and Shadow Night knowing that they're passing nearby, he prepared everything.

Moments later, when Lun'a wagon was crossing the dense, scary forest from the shadown Timber wolfs got out from their hiding. The guards tried to stop them but unfortunally they're too strong for their magic, as Luna knew that there was nothing to do about it. She left her wagon and ran away while screaming for help, but nopony come. After some running she was cournered she has nowhere to go. 'I should never ask father to let me go alone in this wagon.' she said to herself. 'Now look where I got myself into.'

As the timber wolfs started to growl and ready to pounce, they're knocked back by some sort of magic.

"You woody dogs. Face somepony of your size." A voice echoed from the shadows.

Suddenly, Shadow Night appeared. Obviously, the timber wolfs decided to change target and ran towards him. With a blast the timber wolfs were down with that they decided they had enough and ran away.

"Who are you?" Luna asked. As she gazed at her 'savior'.

"Me. I'm Shadow Night." He said "I heard your screams and I though you were in danger." He lied "Man, this mare. Jeez so dumb she almost got my job ruined. How did HE want her dead? She is not even worth the effort. Well, she is an alicorn after all." He said to himself. As he started to conjure a spell.

"What are you doing?" Luna asked "I'm scared. Could you... lead me to Canterlot?I lived there. This forest is really scary." Luna said

"Wait, you said Canterlot" He asked.

She nodded

"Great. Perfect, with her naive intellect, I could take the three out. Perfect." He thought to himself

As they stopped speaking. A sound from behind them, make them take defense positions.

"Who's there?" He asked "Show yourself. Don't make me use my magic you'll probably don't want to feel it." He said

From the bushes, a white coat alicorn showed up.

"Celestia." Luna ran towards her, as she embraced her. "I thought that you didn't listen to my screams." Luna cryed, while her sister caressing her mane.

"There,there. There's no need to be scared I'm here now." Celestia tried to calm her down. She then gazed over Shadow Night, who was standing there watching them. "Who are you? What you want? What you did to her?" Celestia asked.

Luna got in front of her, defending her new 'friend'.

"He saved me, Celestia." Luna said "He used his magic to make those timber wolfs flee." Luna said.

"Why? Why did you did that?" Celestia asked him.

"I was nearby. I was catching some air. And heard some screams. So I thought that somepony was in danger and I came as fast as I could." He said nervously, trying to not lose his 'disguise'.

"Where do you live?" Celestia continued to asking him.

"Not to far from here. But... If you want I could lead you there." He offered.

"There's no need. I think that we need to..."

*GRRROOOOOOOOOWLLLLLL*.

A giant alpha Timber wolf showed up. Surprised by this engagement, Shadow Night couldn't react in time. The timber wolf charged at him. He tried to conjure a spell ,but since that he was trained to cast spells only when he's not on pressure nothing came out. He closed his eyes and said 'What a luck.'

"NNNNOOOOOOO!!" Luna scream as she conjured a magic shield around Shadow Night.

With that the timber wolf was bounced backwards and ran straight back to the forest.

As he opened his eyes and saw that blue bubble shield surrounding him he realized that he was saved.

Luna stopped her spell and immediately asked him.

"Are you ok?" Luna asked

"Why? Why did you did this? I got that under control." He said.

She giggled.

"Look at my luck. Being saved by my own target. Shame on me" he said to himself

Suddely an unsupportable heat was felt by those three ponies.

At this point King Solar Fire appear in the forest.

"Luna, Celestia. Are you, alright? One of the Celestia's guard send me a emergency signal." He said

The two alicorns came to embrace his father.

"Yes, dad. We're are alright." Luna said. "Thanks to him." She pointed at Shadow Night.

As he slowly lift his head to greet her daughters savior, his smile changed to a snarl.

"You." He shouted. "Girls. Stay behind me, now." He ordered

"Why?" They asked

"NOW!" He yelled. He once again looked at Shadow Night. "How dare you to even come near my daughter? This time I out let you escape like last time." He said as he ran towards him. His magical aura grabbed Shadow Night by the neck and pounded him against a tree. "I'm not like those you've killed. You shadow ponies, stupid killers. YOU KILLED MY WIFE, MY...QQQQUUUUEEENNN." he shouted as he keep striking him against the tree.

"So King Solar Fire. The most powerful alicorn. I should know you strenght, but you might be misunderstanded, but I'm a simple pony. Shadow ponies are just legends." he tried to lied but failed.

"Really." He said "Then let me cast a spell, if you're body change color you're a shadow pony, if not well... I'm 100% sure that you're one of them." He started to cast the spell, as he expected his coat started to change color.

"See. Now, where was I? Oh... I remember." He started to conjure a death spell, a spell powerful enough to kill anypony. "One less Shadow Pony to care about. Bye, Bye," he said

"STOP!!!" Luna cried out. "Don't hurt him. He saved me and Celestia from those timber wolfs. Dad, i beg at you. Let him go. Please." Luna begged.

"Luna." He said. then he turned gaze at his target and asked. "It's that true?"

"I'm afraid... that's true." As he said that, he was dropped on the ground. "I swear that I never wanted to hurt her. I was just passing by and heard her cries, nothing less." He said the truth.

"Fine. I let you go for now." He said "But make this my last advice. IF I EVER SAW YOU AGAIN NEAR MY DAUGHTERS, I WILL KILL YOU. None of her cries would make me stop, understood?" He proposed

Shadow Night nodded and ran away. "Why did she just said that? I was supposed to be feared by her. I need to talk to her she need to know." He said to himself. "I know that alicorns did this things to us. But she don't deserve this punishement. Not her, not her sister, not everypony."

As the alicorns reach Canterlot palace, Solar Fire called out Luna to give her some speech.

"I know what are you thinking? That i shouldn't act like that, but... He's a shadow pony." He said

"But he saved me." She said.

"They do that everytime to get near you. When they got the chance." He used his magic to cut his bedsheets. "They kill you and you can't even react to that threat." He said.

"But he seens... nice."

"What? You know what a Shadow pony is. They were nice once but..." he said

"But... what?" she asked

"There's a story that I need to tell you. Sit down you will need it." He said "It all began, thousands of years ago the shadow ponies lived peacefully together with everypony. Their loyalty to alicorns was so strong when were some rebellions the shadow ponies used their magic to pacify everypony in rebellion, they were talent with magic as alicorns. But one day, one shadow pony fell in love in one with an alicorn queen. The fact was that alicorn was married. But the King was really bad. He used his power to punish innocent ponies, he used his powers to gain advantages in the castle and he even starts a deadly fight with her queen that almost killed her. She was saved by her 'Shadow pony', after that they enjoyed a night full of pleasure and sweet love. But when the King knew that her Queen was committing such crime, he decided to put an end to it. In one night, the Queen invited her guard to her room. As far as she knows the King told her that her guard was about to receive a promotion. As he entered, he was captured and caged up. The look on the queen's eyes didn't stop the King for doing what he had begun. He was sent to the dungeons, feeling betrayed by his own king and queen.'But she said she loved me' was all that he was thinking. He couldn't think anything but how he was a dumb, a stupid, he offered his heart but she did that. When that reached the highest point, his mind blows up and he released a magic beam that killed everypony that he hated. The King, the guards that captured him. But... when he opened his eyes he saw her. She was crying near him. What he felt at that moment was nothing more than regret, he felt betrayed, he had his heart broken. He decided that he should leave the Empire. His followers were called by the queen and with that she punished them by exiled them. That really hurt her, because she really loved him, but hat he had done was unforgivable. With that, the shadow ponies seared vengeance. Years later, they returned and killed the queen taking over the Empire. Their magic is threatful to out kind, Luna. You should never see him again." He begged

"But... But... If they had changed." Luna pondered.

"They killed your mother. THEY DON'T CHANGE. THEY STILL THE SAME ASSASSINS." He yelled

Luna eyes started to form water on her eyes. "But..." Luna said

"No more 'buts'. Now you could go." He said

"Wait, dad. And if..."

"What? Don't came with that again."

"Nothing." Luna whimped

As she left the room, she trotted in direction of her room. She open her door and made her way to her bed, she laid there and in matter of seconds she was sleeping.

Few days later...

Shadow Night and Luna started to meet again in secret. They meet each other, and started to walk towards the middle of the Everfree Forest.

In the distance, they spotted a little pound, surronded by trees, that relaxing and pleasurable ambiance. They laid on the grass and stood like what for an amout of time. Until...

"I never asked you." Luna started. He looked at her "Are you a shadow pony?" Luna asked

He said no.

"Don't lie to me, please. I promise i don't hate you if you're a shadow pony I'm not like my father." she said

He couldn't keep insisting saying that he wasn't. 'What's the point of that?' He had changed his mind.

"Yes" Finally he said. "Don't you fear me. I mean your dad probably told you about everything about us."

"Of course not." She said "If you wanted to kill me, you would let those timber wolfs just did the job,right?" she asked

"That wasn't my plan." He said. "When I saved you, the spell that i was casting was the 'death spell". He said. When he looked at her, her expression was of curiosity, nothing that he would expect.

"What stopped you."she said

"Your sister she showed up. That made me lose my concentration." he said

"Then... why did you not try to kill me now?" she asked

"I can't."

"Why, I'm not your target?" she asked

"Yes, you're."

"Then what are you waiting for." she said

"I can't"

"Of course you can." She said, she know that she was getting him to her why did he decided to not kill her. "Why would you not kill me? A little defenceless alicorn, that is an easy target without the protection of her father she is useless." she said

"Stop that, alright. I've changed my mind."

"Why?"

"I could never forgive myself, if I ever do that."

He felt her muzzle come closer to his.

"Why?"

Suddenly he losed control of his mouth and...

"It's because. I....I....FUCK IT. I LOVE YOU, ok." He finally said. He looked away as he was ready to get up, she stopped him for doing that. "Luna, let me go. Please. Your father might be worried about you." He turned his gaze to her. "Ahm, Luna are you alright?".

"Finally" she whispered.

"What?"

"FINALLY ." she yelled. "Ops,*laughs* sorry." she said while covering her face with her hooves.

"You're not freaked out. I mean..." he tried to said but was stoped when Luna put her hoof on his mouth.

She giggled. "You're a normal pony to me. Your specie backstory is little hurtful." Luna thought about that story.
"Hmm. I was thinking." She said.

"What?"

"What would look like an alicorn and a shadow pony offspring?" She smied as she watched at him

"Ohhh. I'm getting at your point but no. There's no way that would ever work." He said. "And besides, we can't risk it. Your father..." He was stopped by her sudden pounce attack.

"Come on. Tell me I'm curious." she said. While she nuzzled his fur.

"Why did you want to know?" he said

"Personal reasons." she said

"I don't know," he said

"Then let us found out." she said.

With that said, she began to lead her body down. Until...

"Wait. Are you sure about this? If your father discovers. What would happen to you?" he asked

After she heard that, she immediately stop her movements and embrace him.

"You really cared for me." She said.

"Because a beauty like yourself, can't be with a pony like me. *sobs* I've killed those innocent ponies." He said.

"Shadow? You're not like that if you wanted you could kill me in our first meeting, right. You decided to not do it because you felt LOVE for me. What's stopping you?" she asked.

"I'm sorry Luna, but I can't achieve that, not now." he said. He then get up and leave her alone there.

She was there alone, she feared that she might her his feelings, so she decided to not try to follow him.

She then casted her spell and teleported herself to her room.

When she had teleported herself, Shadow watched her go away from him. 'It's better for her to be away from me. Even that she wants me, i can't accept her. I'm an assassin for god's sake. Who would...?' he said to himself, as he walked toward his cottage on the woods.

After some weeks.

They keep meeting each other, followed by kisses and some cute nuzzles.

Until one day...

Luna was invited by here father to meet up with him in the main hall. She was wondering what he wanted.

Luna arrived at the main hall.

"Hi, dad. Why did you wanted to see me?" Luna asked

"Well, I will be giving your day off." He said. "You deserved after a week with being such a handy mare, always willing to help me and your sister." he said

She clapped her hooves.

"Thanks, dad. I've been waiting for this opportunity" she said very excitedly

"Is my daughter happy to see somepony in particular?" he asked

"No. No. Just to spend the day with my sister and my friends" she smiled nervously.

She finish with a bow to her father and left the main room.

"Storm Razor." he summon one of his guards

A guard left his guarding stance and moved towards Solar Fire.

"Yes, my king." he said while bowing himself.

"Keep an eye on my daughter, if you see something suspicious let me know,alright?" he said

"Your order is my mission, sir. I'll report anything that I thought that is really necessary" he said.

"Dismissed."

Storm Razor left the main hall, following Luna everystep.'Wait,wait,wait. You sure are blaming me ,because you might think'You dumbass, she can use teleporting spell, how that pony would follow her if she used her teleportation spell' let me tell you she need to work up her legs.'

Luna started to trotted in the Everfree Forest. As she arrived she greeted Shadow and both on them sit on the grass.

Without their knowing they're being spied.

"I thought you would never showed up." Shadow said.

She giggled "Why? Did you missed me, was it?" she asked.

In the woods, Storm Razor spied them from a safe position.

"Isn't that?..." He said thought to himself. "That's HIM." he catch that face. "That pony was... King Solar Fire need to know about this before is too late." He open his wings and started to fly away, in direction of Canterlot.

Some moments later.

"I never told you but I've always enjoyed your company." she said

In the distance they heard some strange sounds.

As they turned around to gaze where that sound came from, a squad of shadow ponies showed up.

"Thanks. Shadow. You really made her feel comfortable around you." One of them said. "We never thought that achieve this kind of trust they became so vulnerable" he continued his speech

"Shadow? What he's talking about?" Luna asked

"You heard him, right." He said. As he gazed her and saw her crying. "Come on don't cry, this will be over soon."

"What? But you said..." she tried to say but was stopped by Shadow Night hoof.

"Did you really think that I would fall for you?" He asked "NEVER. I was part of my plan."

"Good thing boss. Now he give you the privilege to kill her. Go ahead."

"NO!!" Luna yelled. She used her magic to push them away. "Leave me alone." she opened her wings to go away.

"You're not going anywhere." Shadow conjured a blast that hit her left wing causing her to lost ballance and fall down

As she hitted the ground, her vision were blured do to the impact, her body were full fo scars and bruises, she felt her blood leave her body. When she saw her enemies, she started to lose vision as it slowly everything were turning black.

"Such a waste of time. This was the easiest target." One of them said.

Then Shadow Night appeared.

"Oh, boss. Come on this target is yours." He didn't respond. "Boss?...". Then something in their minds blink. "TRAITOR!!!" one of them tried to shot at his new target, but failed as it bounced his shield.

"You shouldn't never come here. Now you should pay for what you have done." He said

"Stay away. Or we finish her ...."

Suddenly a magic beam passed through his body, splitting him in two.

"NOW! What am I gonna do to you?" Shadow Night said, while levitating the other pony in the air.

"Traitor. Shadow Blade is nearby he will avenge us."

"Such a waste. Such a shame that you won't be here to see that." He said. With a little thrown, he send his target against a tree killing him instantly. As he turned his gaze to Luna. "Luna, are you ok?" She didn't answer.

He used his magical aura to get her and laid her on his back. He ran towards his cottage.

On Shadow Night cottage.

Luna slowly opened her eyes, due to a soft craking of wood and a confortable heat, rushing throught her body. She saw that she was on someplace that she didn't recognize. She slowly turned her head to see where she was. As she looked to her body, she saw some bandages sovering her body and some of her wounds still bleeding.

"Finally, you're awake. You started to worrying me." As she turned her gaze to the source of that voice, she saw Shadow Night, coming towards her with some leaves that seemed like those that she got on her body.

"STAY AWAY FROM ME." She yelled.

"Calm down, I'll just heal your wounds." he said

"NO. You caused this remember." she said.

"What are you talking about?" he raised his eyebrow.

"Don't make me a fool, you dumbass. You said that..." she said

"Wait, you're talking about those two." he said

"NO. You used me, so that they could get near me. You lied to me." she continued.

"WHAT? What are you talking about?" he asked

"What i'm saying, is that you wanted to kill me since the beggining. Right?" she said

He didn't answer.

"ANSWER ME." she yelled

"I don't know what you're talking about. I told you that I would never hurt you."

She realized. 'If he really wanted to kill her, he didn't had saved her in the first place'.

"PROVE IT." she said.

"What?"

"Prove it, that I can trust you again."

"Luna, What happen?"

She started to tell him everything

"I was on that pound with you. Remember." she said

"Wait. I was in here, all the time. How in the world, I could be in two places at the same time?" he asked

"Wait, if you were here. Who the hell was that guy then?" She asked

"I might fear that you might saw my regiment commander, Shadow Blade."

"But he looked exactly like you." she said. "How?"

"We can use metamorphosis spells. I supposed you saw our true power. We use that spell to get closer to our targets." he said

"I was tricked?" she asked

"I'm afraid you're correct." he said

She felt tears forming in her eyes. She then hugged him.

"How could i felt in such spell? Why did I believe it?" she asked "I don't trust you enough to even realized that wasn't you."

"It's ok alright. Now let me just heal those things, would you?" he asked. He used his magic to grab the leaves from his pot and surrond her wounds, so she wouldn't lose any more blood. "There. It's done."

She got up and kissed him. "Thank you."

He felt some blush in his cheeks. "Here" he helped her to get on her feet. "Let me guide you out of this forest."

While he was helping her to get up, she accidentaly, moved his robe and his cutie mark was now uncovered for everyone see it. She saw it and she stopped her movement and...

"Your cutie mark, is a... a Skull." she said

"I... I... Yes, it's a skull."

"You have identical cutie marks. Those guys got it too."

"I'm afraid you're right. We had these cutie marks, we all got this cutie mark." he said

She didn't care if his cutie mark was a skull, she knew that he was not that kind of pony.

"It's ok. I supposed everypony need a cutie mark, after all." she smiled.

As he was leading her to his cottage exit.

When they get out of his cottage, he heard some familiar voice.

"Well, well, well. What do we have here?" a strange voice came out of the shadows of the forest.

"Shadow Blade. Show up. You dumbass. I'll make you pay for what you have done to her."

With that said Shadow Blade showed up between the fog.

"I can't believe you betrayed us, because of her." he said. "She tricked you. Did you foorget what they did to us? Did you forgot the third rule?" he asked

"No. They've lied to us this all time, they're not like they said they're." Shadow said.

"I don't care, The King wants them dead, that's why I'm here, to finish what you couldn't do." he said

Shdow notice that he started to conjure a spell.

"Shadow Night, this is my last warning get out the way, if you want to live."

"Never. You need to pass throught my dead body to get her." he said

"That's your last words. Alright" he shotted his beam. Shadow Night conjure a spell shield, but his master magic was stronger he couldn't hold it for so much longer.

'Keep concentrated, I mustn't fail.' he said to himself.

His magic was stronger but Shadow Night didn't give up so easily.

As she was protected by his magical shield, she saw that his cutie mark was shining, and suddenly from a skull it changed to a sword and a shield.

"Shadow? You're cutie mark has changed." she said being surpriser for what she saw.

"That's impossible." Shadow said

"How? How?" Shadow Blade asked "That's impossible, he achieve it." he said to himself "Stop him before he finishes his transformation."

All of Shadow Blade squad use their magic to try to blast off Shadow Night's shield. Being attack by all sides he couldn't hang on for much longer. Suddenly he felt his shield break, all he could think was to use his last strenght to magical protect Luna.

"Now get off" Shadow Blade use his blast to send Shadow Night flying away.

As the ground close, he used his total strenght to focus on his shield. As they hit the ground, Luna didn't suffer any damage besides those that she already had. As she got in her feet she saw that magical aura vanishing. She ran towards Shadow Night.

"Shadow? Are you alright?" She asked

"Go away. They're after you now."

"There you are." Shadow Blade said. "Get them.".

They ran towards Luna and Shadow Night.

"Stay away leave us alone" Luna cryed as she conjure her magical shield to blast them away.

"Such strong power." he said. "No matter. You're mine now." he ran towards Luna.

Suddenly a magical strong beam hitted Shadow Blade, sending him flying away.

As she looked up, her father came for the rescue.

"How dare you? I told you if I caught you near my daughter again I would kill you." Solar Fire said.

"AHAHAHA. You must be King Solar Fire. Perfect HE will surely would pay me enough for your body." he said "Get him"

With that order his squad used their magic to create ropes and captured Solar Fire. His horn was blocked by those ropes.

"DAD. No, stop hurting him." Luna cryed.

"Get away, Luna."

As she ran towards her father, she was blasted away by Shadow Blade.

"I'll take care of her later. Now where was I." he said "Oh... Kill the great King."

Shadow Blade started to conjure his spell, but was interrupted when suddenly the ropes that keep Solar Fire down were vanished.

"How?" he asked. As he turned his head to see where that source of magic was coming from he saw Shadow Night used his magic to destroy the ropes. "Curse you. I'm tired of you, always interferring with my plans." he used his spell on him "JUST DIE."

Shadow Night aura disappeared from Solar Fire body when he was hit by Shadow Blade's spell.

Solar Fire couldn't believe it. He was saved by a shadow 'doggy', as he like to call them.

As Solar fire got on his feet, he used his power to blast Shadow Blade squad away. He used his magic to grabbed Shadow Blade.

"How dare you? Hurt my daughter. You will feel my rage now."

He turned his gaze to his guards, and signal to them to take Shadow Night away.

Solar Fire used his magic to cause a solar explosion burning everything surroding him.

As he finished his spell, everything surroding him was destroyed, trees, ponies, vegetation, everything.

As he returned to the side of her daughter.

"Luna, are you ok?"

"How did you know?" she asked.

He started to stroking his back neck "I kinda sent Strom Razor to spy you."

"What? Why?" she asked

"You're acting strange since the day that you meet him." he answer "I sent him, because i wanted to know."

She looked around and saw everything destroyed, burned to ashes.

"What have you done? Where's he?" she asked "NO. No,no." she said "Tell me you didn't kll him." she said

"Sir. I think you better see this" one of his guards said.

They followed the guard until saw Shadow Night corpse.

Luna ran towards his body.

"Shadow? Are you alright?" she asked

He didn't answer.

"Shadow? Are you hearing me?" she asked again.

He didn't answer.

She used her dream magic to see if she detects his aura, but unsuccessfully

"Dad. My magic I can't detect his aura." she felt tears forming on her eyes. "What's wrong? Why i can't feel his aura?"

"Luna..." Solar Fire said

"What have you done to him? He saved me." she shouted angrily.

"Nothing" he said "I was wrong. I'm sorry Luna, he saved me. He used his magic to free me and them" he pointed to his guards. "With that, the guy who was after you. He..."

"What?" Luna asked

"Remember when you tried to feel mother's magical aura and you couldn't?" he asked

She nodded.

"Luna. I don't want to tell you this, but... I think he's ... dead" he said

"What? How? Him... dead." Luna couldn't hang on anymore. She felt pain and started to cry violently. "That's not happenning, he said that... *sniff* he always be here to... *sniffs*"

"Luna, did you think that one day... your father would accept this?" he asked

"Yes, i think that he would. I mean he's mean to you, but I think that he would accept." she said

"Don't worry" he said. He climbed a little rock formation. "I Shadow Night, will propose myself to be your guard. So I can protect you from every threat." he said

She giggled "You're funny. I like that."

He hugged her and stroked her mane "You don't have to worry about anything, as long I'm here nopony will hurt you. I'll always be here to protect you."

Luna cries started to grow up and because of that suddenly the night come. But it wasn't a normal night, it was a dark, scary night. Full of thunders, rain and cold that they never seen before. Solar Fire tried to comfort her.

"Luna, stop it. You're messing up with the weather of the night." He said

"How can you only care about the weather, instead of me? *sniff* Because of you, I lost him." she said while pointed to him. "You're a tyrant. Just like granfather."

"LUNA. Watch your tongue." he said "He's just a simple pony."

"WHAT?" she shouted. "How dare you to call him 'just a simple pony'? This'simple pony' saved my life twice. And he saved yours too and you just call him that. Leave me alone. I don't care about you anymore. GO AWAY, LEAVE ME ALONE." Luna yelled

"But it's a cold night, Luna. Come with us." he said

"NO!!" she yelled "I don't want be living with a pony like you. Just care for himself and himself." She said "You're like that king, in that story that you told me." she countinued. "Now, leave me alone."

He tried to say something but it was useless to discuss any longer. He nodded and sign his guards to leave her alone. They opened their wings and fly away towards Canterlot.

In the Canterlot Palace. Celestia was worried why did the night looked so scary.

"Why the night's looking scary?" she asked

"It's our sister." he said

"What happen?" she asked

"She is crying." he said

"What, why?" she asked

"She lost her friend" he said

"Him? What have you done to him?"

"Nothing." He defended himself.

"Could you bring him back?" she asked

"That's not easy, Celestia." he said

"Why?" she asked

"Because he died" he answer

"Oh no. There's nothing you could do. Luna loved him so much."

"Wait, how did you know?"

She nodded

"She told me."

"Why didn't you ever told me?"

"She's my sister. Our secrets stay between us." she said

"I understand."

"But, dad you didn't answer me. Can you bring him back?" she asked

"I can, but..." he said. "He's a shadow pony. Who knows what he would do if he gains immortality?"

"But he's different." she said "She said that he said 'One day I would love to be your guard, so nopony would hurt you.' "

"But..." he said

"I don't choose your options dad, but you owe him one. He saved you after what he did to him."

He tried to process this information.

"What guarantee to you that he won't use his immortality to kill us."

"Because he loves Luna. He wouldn't turn himself against her. Or against us."

"Celestia. Leave. I need to call my counselors. I need to think about it."

She nodded.

"Thanks, dad." she said. she left the main room.

In the main hall.

Solar Fire's counselors were reunited with him for an important meeting.

"It's been three days that we're in this kind of situation. Eternal Night, because of my daughter, Luna. Can't forget her friend." he said "I called all of you here to discuss with you a propose."

They nodded.

"I know that we promised that we won't ever use our powers of immortality on shadow ponies, but this time is different." he started

They gasped when he finished the speech.

"Are you crazy? Did you know how many alicorns and ponies those bastards killed?" one of them asked

"I know, but if he wanted to kill her, he would do in the first place but instead he left her live. And besides I owe him one, he could serve us. As a guard for my daughter Luna."

"I don't tottaly accept but for the sake of your daughter. I will allow it." one said

They looked at each other and said in a crowd

"We hope you're making the right decision"

In Luna's bedroom.

She heard a knock in her door.

"Get in." she said

"Hi" Solar Fire said "Could you accompany me?"

"Where are we going?" she jumped off her bed.

"A special place." he said

As they trotted outside of Canterlot in direction of Everfree Forest.

"Dad, where are we going?" She asked

"To a special place. I need to know one thing before I let you enter this Forest." he said

"Go ahead." she said

"Did you loved him?" he asked

She nodded and giggled "Yes, he was a sweet."

"I heard that we wanted to be your guard." he said . She looked confused. "Your sister told me" he said

"But what else matters now, he's gone now." she said

She had tears in her eyes, as she remember what he had said that night.

"Well, look by yourself." he pointed to the woods.

As she turned around, still having tears in her eyes. Those tears disappeared as soon she looked at him.

"*laughs* Did my princess is happy to see me again?" he asked

She wiped her tears with her hoof, as she ran towards him.

"That's not a dream right? This can't be" she said while hugged him as she let her tears fall on his coat

"Allow me." Solar Fire said. "I saw, how much you missed him? I knew a spell that could bring a pony back to life, unfortunately that doesn't work on alicorns. He became immortal."

"You really did that for me, or was because you wanted to end this eternal night" she asked

He stroked the back of his neck "I saw how you're feeling. I did mostly because of you, and I needed to stop this threat."

She giggled. "Thanks dad. Besides you bring him back. Thank you very much."

They got up and started to trotted back to Canterlot.

In the Canterlot Palace.

Shadow Night was summoned by Solar Fire to the main hall.

"Yes. Did you called me?" Shadow Night asked

"Yes." he answered "I'll leave Canterlot in next week, for possibble never come back. Celestia is old enough to take my place so I'll return to my hometown."

"Alright."

"I need to know if you, having this new ability... I hope that you won't use it for a bad purpose."

"Don't worry. She's more important to me than any piece of gold."

"Hm. I see." he said "I would want you to be her personal guard."

"What?" he asked.

"You heard me. I will trust Luna's safety in your hooves. Could i count on you?"

This was what he always want, but a personal guard. Jeez.

"It will be an honor, sir." he bowed himself "I promise that nothing, nopony will touch her."

"I'll be counting on you."

He nodded and knowing the gesture if his King he left the main hall.

Next week.

Solar Fire was ready to leave his throne to Celestia, he knows that she is a competent ruler and she could bring peace all over Equestria.

"I'll be leaving this in your hands, my dear daughter. Promise me that you would treat everypony with respect they deserve." he said

"Don't worry. That will be easy." she said

He bowed to her daughter. He then turned his gaze over, Luna. "Luna, you taught me a valuable lesson. You believed that he could change." she blushed as he keeps saying those things. "I was wrong about everything."

He hugged both daughters and looked over their shoulders.

"I'll be counting on you. To keep this Empire protected." he said to Shadow Night.

"You can count on me. This Empire will be protected as long as I'm here." he responded

"Then it's settled. LONG LIVE TO PRINCESS CELESTIA. I'll be sending letters so that you could tell me what progression Equestria is having." he said.

She nodded

He was conjuring his teleportion spell and with a flash he disappeared.

Shadow Night and Luna were walking around the castle. Until...

"I can't believe. You, becoming my personal guard. Even when I thought that becoming a guard was asking too much." she said

"It's better than nothing, right." he said

They continued trotting around, as her bedroom close distance between them.

She opened her bedroom door.

"So you're coming?" she asked
