A while after Neighsay and his comrades were sentenced to jail, Celestia has him write an apology letter to Twilight. They then retire from their education job when Twilight releases them herself, and start a new company: The Equestrian Rescue Squad, or ERS.
Two months after Neighsay and his comrades were jailed for setting fire to Twilight's Friendship School, they asked for parchment and quills. With them, they wrote a group letter of apology to Twilight.
The letter said:
"Dear Princess Twilight Sparkle,
We apologize for attacking your school. We are planning to retire from our education career, and start a new one. You will receive further information later.
Signed, Neighsay and the members of the former EEA."
Celestia knew they would write, and sent the letter to Twilight. Spike rushed into Twilight's office only seconds later.
"You might want to see this.", he told her. "It looks like it's from Neighsay." "What do you think he wants?"
"Spike, slow down." " You're telling me it is from NEIGHSAY???", Twilight asked.
"Yes it is, and I have a feeling that it may be an apology for attacking the school earlier.", Spike replied.
She read the letter, and after figuring out that Spike was correct, she called her friends down. They were in awe when she read it to them.
"He must have realized that you were right when you told him that Friendship is not just for ponies", said Rainbow.
"You're right, Dash. I am going to Canterlot to release him.", said Twilight as she headed for the door.
"Okay Chancellor, you said in your letter that you would explain your new plans when I got here.", she said as a guard handed her the cell keys
"That is correct Twilight." Neighsay replied. "We are planning to start what we call, "The Equestrian Rescue Squad, or ERS.", he explained, as Twilight unlocked the doors.
"Understood, but we will help you get acquainted with the other species first, that way they can trust you," Twilight said. "The reason being, they did not like the ways you lashed out at them on Friends and Family Day."
Neighsay shuddered as he had a flashback of that, but he understood Twilight's point and they got on her balloon to fly to the school.
Along the way, Neighsay told Twilight that Celestia had approved their education retirement, and their plan to start a rescue squad.
Arriving at the school, the young six rolled out the red carpet which Neighsay found to be rather formal, along with the fact that they were smiling warmly, he then followed Twilight inside, with his comrades right behind him.
"I am giving you the use of my balloon, in order to visit where the other races came from, so you can talk to their leaders, or guardians.", Twilight explained as she handed a map of Equestria to Neighsay.
Neighsay was given summaries of the lessons taught at the school, by each teacher individually. He visited where the different races lived, and made massive relationships with the leaders. His comrades were with him during this period. Thorax was skeptical in the beginning, but Neighsay soon gained trust from him. He was impressed that Starlight was the one who helped them turn against Queen Chrysalis, and that Thorax, and Starlight had earned medals for doing so, along with two others that were involved.
"It was quite an honor to release the changelings from her reign, and I earned an Equestrian Pink-Heart of Courage", said Thorax as he showed the medal to Neighsay.
"That is impressive, I have never seen that medal before", Neighsay replied.
Dragon Lord Ember explained that Twilight hatched Spike from his egg, as her entrance exam to Celestia's school of magic, and she was friends with him. Neighsay then understood why Spike was still with Twilight when he got after her.
At Griffonstone, it was tricky for Neighsay to earn their trust, because many of them were not kind to him, but he succeeded after a while.
Seaquestria was another story. He had to transform into a seapony, and go underwater, but at least he gained trust from their queen.
After coming to the surface, he went to the leader on Mount Aris, and got their trust.
In Yakyakistan, his ears were ringing when Prince Rutherford yelled the way he always did, but he gained trust, and was able to return to Twilight.
Upon returning, he told Twilight that he was successful with gaining trust from all of the leaders, and that it was not easy. Twilight understood what he meant, and that it was not easy to establish a good conversation in Griffonstone, nor Yakyakistan.
Three weeks after Neighsay completed his acquaintances, he and his followers were prepared to start. They set up their outpost, and designed a logo for the building. The base was bulit inside a mountain, with a satelite hook-up so they could get a global radar for all of their rescues. Then, other rescue ponies came by and put them through arduous, but rewarding training. They geared up with all sorts of equipment. Such as: life-jackets, first-aid supplies, tether lines for securing themselves to shore when doing a water rescue, clothes for helping the victim stay warm, thermoses for holding water, and more.
The training was done, using dummies with weights attached, and in pools to simulate water. Twilight herself, supervised the training to make sure everything was working correctly. Rainbow Dash inspected their outpost to help them keep an inventory of their equipment. Fluttershy helped them test the first-aid supplies, ensuring it all worked properly. Rarity tested the radios to confirm they would work from any given distance. She also helped install radio towers in different parts of Equestria, testing each to make sure they worked right. Celestia stood by in Canterlot, waiting for the results.
