That hardest thing to catch is feelings or so Rainbow Dash was told.
Its not everyday Rainbow Dash takes an interest in animals besides her pet Turtle Tank. But, lately the hunt for a shy and quiet pony has gotten her interested once again.
Rainbow Dash hovered in spot thoughtfully. She then touched down on the ground a mere three inches away. Had she really seen Fluttershy just heard a big ole bear right now? The rainbow themed pony turned her head around to where she had thought she saw the yellow and pink pony go.
She knew it really should not suprise her that Flutter could deal with a bear or manticore but, this was a whole lot different. That bear had been wearing a tutu. She hummed to herself for a bit trying to decide if she wanted to see if what she saw was true.
She heard a soft clomp of hooves and quickly gathered her wits and moved to the side of the Ponville road as Applejack came up the road. Rainbow Dash could feel a laugh slowly bubble up in her throat as she looks over the honey colored poney slowly. She had sticks all stuck in her mane and looked like she had a roll in a good soft pile of dirt. Bits of mud and dirt are stuck to her flank. Her hat looked like it went rounds with a pair of scissors.
Rainbow Dash quickly got over her mirth when she saw the mare sporting a nasty looking bruise. "Whoa what happened to you? Looks like you went a few rounds" she says pointing a hoof all around the mare. Applejack just snorted then sat down slowly.
"A bear cam onto the farm. No idea what it was lookin for." Applejack says a puzzled look came over her muzzle. "As far as I know bears do not eat apples." she says after a thoughtful pause.
"Yea, they don't probably just wanted to sleep in the barn or something." Rainbow Dash says rolling her eyes on yea.
"An' just how would you be a' knowing? I thought that there was Fluttershy's thing... Are you...have you been watchin her?" Applejack says tilting her head a bit. Rainbow Dash managed to look like an excellent mixture of stunned and flustered as her cheeks tinted a light pink.
"Wha- wha ...No I have not I happen to listen like a good friend!" Rainbow squeaked a bit. She flapped her wings and hovered her front in the air crossing her hoves over her chest. She looked away and huffed. Applejack smiled just a bit and looked away chuckling softly.
"Sure Dash, Sure. Any way I came in to get a few things when I saw ya. I better head off. Good luck with your watchin " Applejack says as she walks down the road and out of sight. A few ponies had paused out of curiosity and stared at her.
"What are you all looking at?!" Rainbow Dash squeaks before flapping her wings and quickly flying away to a cloud out of sight. She burries her head in and screams into the cloud. Her frustration and emberassment goes into the scream. She does this for a while not noticing a purple alicorn stopping just below her.
"Rainbow Dash?" the alicorn calls then spreads her wings and flaps up to see her friend. "Hey, are you okay?" she asks softly taping the rainbow themed poney with a hoof. The poney looks up mildly startled and rolls her eyes with a huff.
"Oh its you. Yea, I am okay just ...uhmm....testing this cloud for sound proof..." Rainbow Dash says shoving her head back in and makes a few sounds.
"Wha...what?" Twighlight asked puzzled. The pegasus pulled her head out giving a cheesy nervous smile then put a on her brave face.
"Couldn't hear you its perfect I'll use it for my sleeping perch" Rainbow Dash says trying to be convincing as she gathers up pieces of the cloud.
"Okay....if you ever want to talk you know you can come to me right?" Twilight Sparkle asked flapping her wings lifting up as Rainbow Dash gathered the cloud.
"Y-yea sure Twi. I better go." Rainbow Dash says with another cheesy smile and rushes off with the cloud leaving a very confused princess of friendship behind.
Rainbow Dash flew all the way to her favorite cloud and huffed a sigh of relief. Nopony had followed her. She droped all the bits of cloud that clung her and began to dust bits off of her flank.
"Glad thats over wonder if I can still see that bear..." she paused looking up as she heard the flap of wings and a rush of wind. She looked up to see Spite Fire ,a fellow Wonderbolt, flay past. "Huh must be practicing maybe I should to.. Naahhh I am already awesome." Ranbow Dash says with a bright smile and decided to curl up for a nap. "Besides...I can always...race her later..." she yawned and quickly fell alseep
()Some time later()
Soft meek hoofsteps later came under Rainbow's cloud not knowing that it held a sleeping pony. "See Angel. There was nothing for you to be scared of." a soft meek voice says. A yellow pony with a pink mane pulling a little waggon with a bunny in it. Unknown to her Fluttershy woke up the sleeping pegasus.
Rainbow Dash was not very happy about waking up from her nap. That is until she peered over the edge of her cloud and saw the poney that has been on her mind since this morning.
Rainbow Dash crept to the very edge of her cloud and peered over with just and as as Fluttershy made her way back home singing softly to herself. The rainbow themed poney felt her heart give a soft thud.
She knew that from now on she was not going to be hunting for her next trophy to show off her awesomness but, rather a very different kind of hunting. A smile made it's way across her muzzle as she started to think of ways to bait an adorable sweet mare such as Fluttershy. She knew her acts of bravery would mean nothing. The blue pegasus would have to come up with a better more awesome plan.
Rainbow Dash sat fiddling with a paper and quill. She had been at this since she woke up form her nap. She glanced down at the paper in front of her. It held nothing but a few scribbled out words.
She grumpily shoved it to the side and laid her head on the cloud desk. Rainbow had no idea how she was going to think of a plan. She did not get why she needed to she was awesome right?
Just as she was going to jump up and strut proudly away she stopped. Rainbow Dash groaned to herself, being awesome would not mean anything to a mare she had known since she was a filly. Her head meet the desk and she groaned softly.
She sighed softly and decided maybe instead of making a plan she can just go with it. After all she is awesome everything should go swimmingly. She balled up the paper as best as any thing with hooves could and tossed it into the waste bin near the desk. She flapped her wings and trotted away. Pride in each step as she did not look back.
First step in her awesome plan, not plan would be to find a certain butter yellow mare. As she trotted along, with her wings tucked against her side and her feet touching the ground, she made quiet the sight. It was a very rare to see the blue Pegasus with all four hooves on the ground at once. Her wings being tucked to her side made the sight on oddity at best. It wasn't that she did not do this it was just that it was a very unlikely sight.
Seeing Rainbow Dash walking any where was near to seeing a new princess being made. Both considered equally rare to the citizens of Ponyville. She had no idea that she was attracting a crowd on her walk. She was far too busy thinking.
It wasn't until a familiar meek voice cut into her thoughts that she noticed the crowd around her giving such odd looks.
"Dashie are you okay? Pinkie Pie just told me about two minutes ago she saw you wondering around looking dazed." Flutter Shy says looking at the crows with a rather nervous glance. "Looks like you causes a stir." she says with a small nervous laugh. Rainbow turned to the others gathered around and gave them a look between puzzled and a stare.
"What? Haven't you all seen a Pegasus walk before? " Rainbow asks them with a stamp of a hoof and a snort then shook her main and rolled her eyes. "I swear you'd think that no pegasi have hooves with the way you all are staring." she huffs. The bystanders gave her one last look as they disburst. Some still had wide eyed disbelieving looks across their muzzles. Rainbow turned to Flutter Shy and gave her a confused look. "What's with them did my mane get all messed up? Did I grow something extra?" She says and starts to look herself over.
"N-no, nothing like that." Flutter says one hoof going up as she took a test step back. "You see they just are not use to you... Uhmmm... Not flying." she says with a small sheepish smile.
"They forget I know how to walk?" Rainbow asks her hurt pride clear in her voice.
"No, i-its just not normal to see you walking." Flutter Shy says in a near whisper as if these were her thoughts upsetting the blue Pegasus in front of her.
"Oh." The blue pony says a small sheepish smile on her muzzle. "Yeah, I guess that would be pretty strange to see." she says with a small laugh. Flutter Shy nodded her head rappidly so happy to see that everything was calming down nicely.
"So...uhmmm...what are you doing if I may ask?" Flutter Shy asks after a moment when she is sure that everything is nice and calm.
"Ohhhh that. Well I was on my way to see you. Guess my thoughts were so up in the clouds I did not notice everything." Rainbow Dash says bringing a hoof up and rubs her neck ruffling her mane just a bit. The first reaction from the meek mare was that her eyes light up. It was a sight to see making the blue Pegasus loose her breathe quietly for a moment. Then a trace of fear came into those pretty eyes. Rainbow resisted the urge to hug Flutter Shy close and whisper soft encouragement.
"Y-you came to see me?" the butter yellow mare squeaks. "I- I am sorry what ever I did I am sorry." she says trembling.
"W-what? Wait, whoa there Flutters you don't do anything. I am not mad at you or anything. I just thought I would see if you needed help. Or... Uhhmm something." Rainbow Dash says calming her oldest friend. Flutter Shy looked relieved, happy, then confused. Rainbow really wished she had a camera to take a picture each time she did that it was interesting to watch how fast her emotions change.
"What about WonderBolts?" Flutter asked with a tilt of her head.
"Clear skies for the next week not too much for me to do." The speedster assures her with a smile.
"Okay. Let's go to my cottage to see if there is something you can do to fill the time." Flutter Shy says happily before turning and trotting away. Rainbow could not help herself she stood and watched for a moment before looking around and making sure no one saw that. When was satisfied she too trotted away quickly catching up to the other mare.
Little did Rainbow know she had been watched by a pink piny with frizzy curly hair. This pony was practically vibrating with excightment at what she just witnessed. She turned away with a gleeful look. This so had to be shared. The pink pony knew just who to start with there was a princess of friendship who would be very interested in this.
