She could see down main street of Crusader Town from her bedroom, it was around 8 in the morning now and she smiled a little as she looked out at the sprawling town as it started to wake up. Sometimes it bugged her a little that she didn't remember a lot before she woke up and saw her mom Scootaloo. Even most of that was still fuzzy for the filly. Still, things weren't that bad for the Rainbow maned filly, she had come to think of Crusader Town as more of her home than anywhere else that she remembered. It had been about a year since she had moved in with Scootaloo Dash and Cherry Blossom. It had been quite a year as she had met so many friends that her moms had met on the journey that they had undertaken before they had taken her in. Crusader Town was all of their homes now, and everything was pretty nice. Thankfully she didn't have to go to school that day, Mrs. Breeze was trying to keep things staggered over the week since she was the only teacher in Crusader Town, so she was just going to spend the day in the small settlement and see her friends. She got up and walked out of her bedroom as she quietly crept past the room that belonged to her moms. She smiled a little as she peeked inside briefly, Scootaloo and Cherry were laying on the bed fast asleep with Scootaloo holding Cherry close. She closed the door again and headed down the wooden stairs that lead into the living room and kitchen. The house had been one of the first to be completed in Crusader Town, and it was just nice to have a home, she wished that there was some way she could repay her moms for everything they had done. She took a deep breath and headed out the front door, her mom's friends were going to be getting up soon and maybe they'd have some advice. 00000 As Prism made her way down main street, she was a bit surprised to hear a mare's voice coming from the schoolhouse. She recognized the voice as belonging to Mrs. Breeze as she worked on getting the schoolhouse ready for the day's classes. She was singing a song softly in her slightly accented voice. "Forlorn faces running from the cold regret, Empty spaces something I can't forget. All I wanted was to wish the past away, But time's the cruelest ruler that we all obey." "Mrs. Breeze?" Prism asked as she poked her head inside and looked at the older Pegasus mare who turned and looked at Prism with a smile. "Hello Prism, and you know you can just call me Winter right?" She asked with a soft smile as she trotted over to the small prismatic maned filly. "You're family you know that right?" "Yeah, I know," Prism said with a shrug. It was kind of weird actually, since Winter was the great-great... something granddaughter of her mother, but she still considered them family. "Was that a new song you were singing?" "Hmm? Oh, yes that was something new that came out on the radio yesterday, I've kind of had it stuck in my head," Winter said with a chuckle. "So what can I do for you today, Prism?" "Well, umm, I was just kind of thinking about everything," Prism said and rubbed the back of her head a little. "I mean with what my moms have done for me and everything, it would be nice to be able to do something for them." "Yeah, I know what you mean," Winter said and then she chuckled a little. "Do you know what was just a few days ago?" "Umm, Sunday?" Prism asked and tilted her head a little, which made Winter laugh. "Well, yeah, but it wasn't just an ordinary Sunday," Winter said with a chuckle. "Back before the war, it was the day that Equestria celebrated Mother's Day. Obviously when the war went bad most of Equestria stopped following it..." "What's Mother's Day?" Prism asked and tilted her head a little. "Is that a holiday like Hearth's Warming Eve or whatever?" "Kind of, yeah," Winter said. "Its the day that we celebrate mothers, its kind of a shame that it fell out of favor in Equestria, even in the Enclave. Maybe, you could do something for your moms for a late Mother's Day gift?" "Do you think they'd like that?" Prism asked and tilted her head cutely. "I think they'd love that," Winter said with a smile. "Your moms love you very much Prism, I think its nice that you want to do something to thank Scootaloo and Cherry. Do you have any ideas on what you want to do?" "Honestly, I have no idea," Prism said with a shake of her head. "I just kinda thought of this, I don't really know what they might like." "I'm sure they'll love whatever you get for them," Winter said with a smile. "Perhaps you should talk to their friends. I'll bet if you went to talk with the ponies that your Mama Cherry knew in Stable 48 they would have a suggestion for what to give her." "Okay, thanks Mrs... I mean Winter," Prism said with a smile as she gave the older mare a hug. "You're welcome," Winter said with a soft smile as she hugged the filly back and patted her on the head. "Now have a good day, I'm sure you'll find something perfect for your moms." "Did Callie and Spectra give you something for Mother's Day?" Prism asked and Winter just chuckled a little. "Oh yes, but you should get going before class starts," Winter said and Prism nodded before heading out just as the students started to file into the schoolhouse. 00000 There were a few ponies living in Crusader Town that came from Stable 48. The one that jumped to Prism's mind was Pimento, the father of her step-sister Silk Rose, but he was currently out of town helping the NCR talk with a newly opened Stable or something. So that's what brought Prism to a small house on the outside of town where Tinker lived. She was a grey Unicorn mare that had worked in engineering in the Stable like her Auntie Arc Light did in Stable 66. The unicorn was currently working on getting a water pump that had broken working again and she looked up to see Prism approaching. "Hey Prism," she said as Prism made their way over to where the Unicorn was working. "Are you giving your moms any trouble?" "Maybe!" Prism said with a chuckle as she looked at the Unicorn with a smile. "Where's Iron?" "He's with Star Bright at the moment," Tinker said, referring to her marefriend who was a Unicorn that had come to live in Crusader Town. She usually took care of her son Iron Shield when Tinker was busy working on maintaining the equipment around town. "Can I help you with anything? Did you break one of your toys again?" "Uh, no, actually I wanted to talk to you about Mama Cherry," Prism said which put a light blush to the Unicorn's face. "Well, what would you like to know about her?" Tinker asked with a smile. "Well, I'm trying to get a gift for both of my moms," Prism said. "I wasn't sure what to get for them, so I was hoping that since you knew Mama Cherry back in Stable 48 then you would be able to give me some suggestions." "Well, lets see," Tinker said as she thought while getting back to work. "I mean, we didn't get a lot of chances to talk for obvious reasons. But Cherry was always interested in plants and flowers, maybe you can do something with that. I know its not a lot to go on." "Its okay, it actually kind of helps," Prism said and looked thoughtful for a long moment. "Do you think that she'd like a flower or something?" "I'll bet she would," Tinker said with a nod. "That's how she got her cutie mark from what I've heard. She stole a flower from the hydroponics bay, I'll bet anything that she'd love another flower like that. Who knows, I've heard she's thinking about starting a garden." "Okay, thanks!" Prism said with a smile. "Thanks Ms. Tinker, that helps a lot!" Tinker smiled a little at the filly. "So, what are you thinking for your Mama Scootaloo?" "I'm... honestly not sure," Prism admitted as her ears fell a little. "I was thinking I could get her something cool, but I don't really know what that could be." "Hmm, how about you talk to Velvet Remedy?" Tinker suggested. "She's in town with the Followers of the Apocalypse right now, she could probably give you some ideas." "Thank you," Prism said with a nod as she headed back into town. Tinker smiled a little and went back to work on the water pump. 00000 Prism made her way around town looking for Velvet Remedy. She was about to give up thinking that she had missed her or something when she almost literally ran into the Unicorn mare. "Oh, hello there," Velvet said and looked at Prism with a smile. "You must be Prism Light, right? I don't think we've met yet, but Fluttershy and Morning Glory told me about you." "Yeah, that's me," Prism said with a smile as she looked up at the charcoal colored mare. "I, was hoping you could help me with something." "And what's that?" Velvet asked curiously. "Well Mothers Day was a few days ago apparently," Prism said and Velvet nodded a little. "I wanted to do something for my moms, and I was trying to figure something out for Mama Scootaloo. Tinker suggested that you might know something I could do for her." "Well, my ancestor and her were close, so maybe I..." Velvet said and then looked thoughtful for a moment. "Yes, I think I know exactly what would be good for her. I'll have to go into Stable 2 again to get it out, but I think she'd love it, its, something of a private thing." "Oh, okay," Prism said and looked at her. "Don't worry, I'll get it to you before you go home," Velvet said with a smile as she gave Prism a nod. "Say hello to your moms for me, I'll be by later." Prism nodded and ran off as Velvet finished what she was doing. She sighed a little and looked towards where Stable 2 was, she hadn't been there in a long time, but she knew what she needed to find. She just hoped that it wasn't going to be hard to do. 00000 Prism had looked around the town and field surrounding it for awhile until she found the perfect gift. It was on the outskirts of town where there was a patch of flowers that had started to grow after the Gardens of Equestria Megaspell had been set off. She had found an old flower pot and put the flower in it as best she could. It was a beautiful flower that was orange with streaks of purple and pink in it, she smiled a little as she picked it up and carried it to the two story house, only to be stopped by Velvet Remedy. "Hey Prism, I think this is what your mama Scootaloo would like best," she said and gave a holotape to the filly. "What is it?" Prism asked as she looked at it curiously. "Its a song that was recorded by Sweetie Belle after she became the Overmare of Stable 2," Velvet said sadly as she looked at it. "She made it for Scootaloo, but she never got it to her obviously... I, should've given it to her before, but I felt it would be better if you did." "Thank you," Prism said with a smile as she hugged Velvet. "I'll make sure she gets it." "Thank you Prism, now go talk to your moms," Velvet said with a smile. Prism nodded and put the holotape into her bags and then picked the pot up again and headed back towards the house. She opened the door and looked in the kitchen where her moms and Silk Rose were eating breakfast. "Hey Prism," Cherry said with a smile as they looked up at the filly. "Where have you been?" "I, was looking around town for something," Prism said with a smile as she set the plant up on the table. "Mama Cherry, I wanted to get you something beautiful, this was the nicest flower I could find." Cherry smiled as she examined it curiously. "This is beautiful," she said and picked Prism up and gave her a hug. "But why did you do this?" "Winter told me Mother's Day was a few days ago," Prism said with a shrug. "I wanted to do something nice for it, you know? You're both my moms, and, well you've done so much for me..." Scootaloo smiled as she trotted over and hugged the two. "You're a good kid Prism," she said and nuzzled her adopted daughter gently. "So, did you get something for me too?" "Yeah, Velvet said this was made for you by Sweetie Belle!" Prism said as she took out the holotape and gave it to the Pegasus. "She thought you would like it." Scootaloo looked at it for a long moment before she took it and walked over to the holotape player. She put it in and after a moment the sound of Sweetie Belle's beautiful singing voice filled the room. "I'll take your hooves, And you'll take mine. Then together we'll take flight. There's no more fear, and no more lies, Only what's right before our eyes." Prism closed her eyes and enjoyed the hug as her moms held her close. She knew that this was where she was meant to be, right here with her family. She wanted to do everything she could to make them happy and to help others, just like her moms had done. "Hey Prism, look," Scootaloo said and smiled as she pointed at Prism's flank. Prism blinked as she opened her eyes and turned her head to look at her flank. It had been blank before, but now she had a cutie mark of a light going into a prism with a rainbow coming out of the other side. "I did it, I got my cutie mark!" Prism said happily as her moms hugged her again. Scootaloo smiled as she looked down at her daughter. Even with everything that had happened, Prism was her daughter, even if she was the clone of her adopted mother. She was going to do everything she could to keep her family safe and happy, and that included her daughters. She smiled and kissed Cherry softly on the lips before she nuzzled Prism and looked over at Silk who was watching curiously. "Come on, lets have breakfast." "Happy late mother's day," Prism said with a soft smile as she looked up at her moms. "Thanks Prism," both of them said with a smile.
