> The date of the outcasts. > by therandomone95 > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > Their special night > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Their date. It was another afternoon in Ponyville, when the fillies and colts were returning home from school, the bells of the school rang at their best quality, and all the citizens of Ponyville were getting ready for dinner and to sleep, after all, all of them had somepony to turn towards when they had a rough day. And two citizens were the exception until three weeks ago, Spike and Apple Bloom, the two outcasts of Ponyville, had each other for comfort, Spike had problems with every citizen of Ponyville for that time when he had an outburst of greed, and Apple Bloom was left alone for not getting her cutie mark in time like everypony else. The two of them were getting ready for going out with each other, after all, they were a pair by now, Spike was thinking if he should wear a moustache for the night or not, in the end, he decided not to, Twilight told him many times that the moustache 'just wasn't his thing', and Spike was starting to believe it by now. Inside her house, Apple Bloom was getting ready too, she was thinking about getting some help from Applejack or Rarity, but she decided not to, she knew Spike would love anything she wore, besides, she wasn't exactly 'over it' with Applejack and the rest of her friends, but she was almost there. Then, both of them checked the clock and decided to go out, Spike waved at Twilight, who knew about him and Apple Bloom, and the young mare just went out of her home, looking back at her house, not knowing why. They agreed to meet at the entrance of Sweet Apple Acres, not a lot of ponies were seen there in the afternoon, so it would be the perfect spot to meet and talk about their date. Apple Bloom was the first one to arrive, and as she waited for Spike to come, she remembered the past three weeks, she remembered herself being excited to see him again after their conversation, and she also rremembered how nervous he acted towards her for some strange reason, then, she remembered the day when he first asked her out about a week ago, he was happy as a clam when she said yes, and they agreed to meet there, Apple Bloom didn't tell Applejack because she feared that her sister would be amazed at how weird her sister is: not getting her cutie mark in time, losing every type of social interaction and going out with a dragon? that would be crazier than Pinkie Pie's dreams! Her train of thoughts was interrupted when she saw Spike coming, she saw him wave at her, so she waved back, once he was there, he hugged her with caution and they looked at each other in the eyes afterwards: "Hello, Apple Bloom!" Said Spike "Howdy, Spike!" Replied Apple Bloom. "So, do you have any plans for tonight?" Asked Spike. "Not really, I just want to spend time with you, nothing big, really." Said Apple Bloom "Hmm, maybe we could do what we always do?" Replied Spike. "What? go for a milkshake at Sugarcube Corner? Sure!" Accepted Apple Bloom. Spike nodded, and both of them were walking towards Sugarcube Corner, they watched the stars starting to appear in the night sky, they thought Princess Luna had outdone herself this time, and they kept on walking thinking about the other, 'how is she/he feeling about going out with me? Is she/he okay with this? I really can't believe she said yes!/ I can't believe he asked me of all ponies!' These and some other questions invaded their minds for a long time until they arrived at Sugarcube Corner. The house was almost empty, something good for the pair, they didn't want much attention. Apple Bloom decided to order the milkshakes again while Spike got a table again, they chatted for a long time yet again, talking about the stuff Twilight learned with magic, the things Apple Bloom created from just wood and stuff like that. They were so into the chat that they didn't notice the time, they gasped when they saw Twilight enter Sugarcube Corner with Applejack, the two ponies heard their gasps and turned around, Twilight looking terrified because she forgot Spike was taking Apple Bloom here and Applejack looking surprised and confused, the cowpony approached the table they were in and started giving her point of view: "Woah nelly, Apple Bloom! Are you dating... Spike? Not gonna lie, pretty strange..." Apple Bloom was starting to heat up. "But he's a heck of a helpful fella, you're very lucky to have somepo... dragon like him!" And some more. "By the way, I'm glad that you're out of your hole, even mouses have to see the light of day at some point." Apple Bloom was going to explode. "And I hope you get your cutie mark soon, sis! But I have to say, you're noy going to discover your talent by staying inside that little house, you have to try out everything you can!" This was it, she couldn't take it anymore. "SHUT UP!!!" Apple Bloom just jumped out of the table and ran outside. "B-b-but why? What did I say?" Asked Applejack confused. "It's not your fault, Applejack, she is just overreacting." Replied Spike, who was looking outside with a sad expression. "But I'm her sister! why doesn't she want to talk with me?" Aske again Applejack, who was never more confused in her whole life. "Because she still has issues with other ponies thinking she is weird." Replied Spike, looking back at Applejack, then, he ran outside too. "Twilight, did you know about all this?" Asked Applejack, raising her eyebrow. Twilight just chuckled nervously, she was going to have a long night. Outside, Spike saw Apple Bloom, who was facing away from him. "Apple Bloom, are you okay?" Asked Spike. "No, Spike, I'm NOT okay, we came here for some private time, and then my sister just had to walk in and ruin everything by telling me how weird I am!" Said Apple Bloom with anger in her voice, yet her voice was full of sadness too. "Apple Bloom, your sister was just giving her honest point of view, honesty, remember? Besides, she wasn't even saying you were weird! She was just..." "NO, Spike!" Apple Bloom interrupted him. "I know she thinks I'm weird! but most importantly, WE are weird! We shouldn't even be a thing! We shouldn't have a happy ending! WE SHOULDN'T BE A PAIR AT ALL!!!" And with that, Apple Bloom left Sugarcube Corner, going home running, shedding her tears in the process. Spike was in a loss of words, did she just break up with him? did she mean it? could he fix this? He had no idea.. Wait, maybe he had one idea... > Ending 1. Reconciliation > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ending 1. Reconciliation. Apple Bloom was in her little home crying, she had just broken up with Spike, the dragon who just wanted to help, and maybe be something more than just a friend, but she just couldn't take Applejack's words, Apple Bloom's fear became reality, her sister now thinks she is weird, and there's nothing that could fix it now. But there was something odd about Applejack's words that just couldn't escape Apple Bloom's mind, 'a LITTLE strange...', what did she mean by that? was that mockery? was that to annoy her? or was that... No, it couldn't be just an expresion, she doesn't have her cutie mark and she pushed away everypony who tried to help her, she MUST have meant it, right? Apple Bloom's mind was going forth and back pondering the question, did Applejack really think they were weird? Or did she really just give her point of view? Apple Bloom went to sleep thinking about it. --------------------------------------------------- That was it, Apple Bloom woke up the next morning, and the first thing she did was reflect on the events that happened last night; she was in her first date with Spike, the guy who made her feel special, and suddenly her sister showed up with Twilight, she recalled Applejack saying that she dating Spike was 'a little strange', that's when she started heating up. But she also remembered Applejack saying that Spike was a good guy and that she was lucky to have him, Applejack also gave her point of view on the situation Apple Bloom was in, and Apple Bloom didn't find anything too offensive in her sister's words, just a comparation between her and a mouse, an error that she corrected afterwards. Apple Bloom began realizing the error of her actions, she acted a little bit out of herself, she pushed away her sister, she even pushed away Spike, who she knew was having trouble on his own too, and she had ruined the most important thing she had left in this world. Apple Bloom began thinking about Rarity afterwards, she thought about everything Rarity had that she didn't: good looks, a cutie mark, a succeessful business, etc. Apple Bloom felt devastated; why did she react like that? was she angry with her sister? was she just becoming bitter herself? or was she just... jealous of everypony else? why was she thinking about Rarity now? Apple Bloom's thoughts broke when she heard steps outside; she looked to see Spike walking towards her house with something in his claws, but Apple Bloom couldn't quite figure out what it was. Quickly, Apple Bloom prepared the little couch she had and sat on it while looking at the door. Spike was in front of the door looking nervous, did she want to see him? Spike didn't know, but he was sure of one thing, he wanted to end this already, with bravery in his heart, Spike knocked on the door. "Who's it?" Asked the mare from inside. "It's me, Spike." Replied the dragon. "Come inside." Said Apple Bloom sadly. Spike opened the door, inside, he saw Apple Bloom sitting on her couch with a smile, but he could also see that her eyes were red and her cheeks had dried tears in them, she probably had cried earlier. "Hello Apple Bloom." Said Spike, looking at her in the eyes. "Hi, Spike, come on, sit down with me." Apple Bloom patted the spot next to her, Spike obeyed without hesitation. By now, Apple Bloom saw that Spike was holding a gift. "Apple Bloom, I want to talk about tonight." Said Spike, looking at her while she looked down after hearing him. Apple Bloom sighed. "I'm sorry about everything that happened tonight, I know I overreacted, but I still don't know why I did it." Apple Bloom covered her eyes, preventing her tears from falling down her face once again; Spike was about to put down her hooves, but he decided not to. "Apple Bloom, I think you know why you overreacted, but I want YOU to tell me why." Said Spike calmly. Apple Bloom took a moment to think, then, after a minute or two of pure silence, she uncovered her eyes and spoke: "Well, I think that I got jealous of everypony else after the CMC broke up." "But why?" "Because I think of everything they are that I'm not." "What?" Asked Spike, surprised at this. "What do you mean by that?" "Let's take Rarity as an example." Spike looked down at this, he knew exactly what she meant by putting Rarity as her example, Apple Bloom continued: "She's got the looks, she saved Equestria a couple of times, she has her cutie mark, she has a lot of ponies behind her, she is mature, her sister loves her, I bet she even has a special somepony by now. It's no wonder you fell in love with her, she's everything that... that I... she's everything that I'm not." Spike could see that Apple Bloom said that last part with tears rolling down her face as she tried to fight them back. "Apple Bloom, let's talk about all those things you said." Spike put his arm around Apple Bloom's shoulders as she looked up at him with red eyes. "I don't care about her looks anymore, sure, a lot of ponies may go crazy around her, but they would be surprised at how much of a diva she is." Spike chuckled, Apple Bloom tried to chuckle too, but she could only form a small smile on her face. "I know she saved Equestria a couple of times, she is an element of harmony after all, but even if she didn't save Equestria, she is still a very good pony, and I know you are a very pecial pony too, Apple Bloom." Her face seemed to get red for a moment. "Also, I know she has a lot of ponies behind her, she is great at her job, but she also has her friends and family supporting her, something you have as well." "But I pushed them all away! I bet Applejack hates me after what I did yesterday! I don't even know if Sweetie Belle and Scootaloo remember me anymore!" Apple Bloom seemed unstable, but Spike came prepared for everything. "Apple Bloom, I talked with everypony already." Apple Bloom looked up at him raising an eyebrow. "Applejack doesn't hate you, she just wants you to come home. And about Sweetie and Scoots, they have been sending you letters everyday since you stopped talking to them." Apple Bloom couldn't believe her ears. "But I imagine you never recieved them because you've been hiding here for a long time, you didn't go home with your siblings and your granny." Apple Bloom felt bad, she realised that she had friends and family, but she chose the wrong way to deal with them, instead of interacting with them she didn't even check if they still wanted to be there for her. Spike saw Apple Bloom's sad face and decided to speak again. "Hey, don't be sad, as I said before, I talked with them, and they couldn't be happier to see you again, as for Applejack, she said that she would always be your sister, no matter how bad things seem." Apple Bloom dropped a single tear, this one being a tear of happiness. "As for the things we were saying about Rarity, yes, she is mature, but that doesn't mean she is better than you, we are just teenagers, and we still have a lot to learn about life." Apple Bloom nodded in reponse. "As for the last thing you said about her, yes, she does have a special somepony, so does Twilight, Pinkie, Fluttershy, Applejack, Rainbow Dash, Sweetie and Scootaloo." Said Spike. "What? Applejack has a special somepony?" Said Apple Bloom surprised. "Did I miss that much while I was here?" "Yup." "And who is it?" Asked Apple Bloom. "You'd be surprised to know, but now it's not the time, as I was saying before, all of our friends have special someponies, but they have them because they love them for who they are, not for their looks, or their cutie marks or stuff like that, it's the type of pony you are that matters." Said Spike, Apple Bloom was in a loss for words, if her friends had a happy ending, then maybe Spike was right, maybe she was just complicating her life for nothing really important. "Spike, what are you trying to say with all this?" Asked Apple Bloom. "I'm saying that it's never too late for going back at how things were before, we could be... something more than friends again! you could talk with your family and friends again! there's still time!" Spike extended his claw, Apple Bloom hesitated, but when she saw his face, she knew that he was someone who she can trust, someone who was being honest, someone who just wanted to help her. Apple Bloom took his claw and proceded to hug him afterwards. "Thank you, Spike, I really needed that. But I still ask myself, how do you still keep going? when we met three weeks ago, you had similar problems to mine, and you still looked not so bad, how do you do it?" Spike thought about it for a second. "Well, we had our differences, while you stayed here alone, I stayed home with Twilight, who ocasionally invited some of our friends, and all of them tried to convince me that I wasn't a monster, I still don't know if I should believe it or not, but the thing I'm trying to say is that I had some help from our friends. And when I found you, I saw that you were exactly like I was, and I won't let anything happen to you, I care about you, Apple Bloom, and to show you just how much you mean to me, I brought something for you." Spike proceded to grab the gift from the floor, and gave it to Apple Bloom. "Spike, you didn't have to buy something for me." Replied Apple Bloom. "I didn't exactly 'buy it'." Said Spike, motioning Apple Bloom to open her gift. Apple Bloom did it without hesitating, and when she opened the box, she was stunned, she remembered seeing this in Rarity's boutique, and she remembered Sweetie Belle saying Spike gave it to Rarity on his birthday; it was a necklace with a heart-shaped fire runy in the center. "S-S-Spike! Y-You took this from Rarity?!" Asked Apple Bloom with fear. "What? No! Like I said, I talked with everypony yesterday, and when she heard that I was asking for it to give it to somepony important to me, she gave it to me happily, something very generous coming from her, but I don't think she needs it anymore because of her special somepony and all that." Replied Spike. "I-I didn't think you c-could give something so... amazing to me! I don't know what to say!" Said Apple Bloom while forming new tears of joy. "Don't say anything, Apple Bloom, just give the world another try, I swear, nopony will get in our way this time!" Said Spike, proudly. Apple Bloom just jumped at him, hugging him as tight as she could, after all, she had a chance in this world after all, and is all because she found someone to relate to, someone who understood her, someone who was an outcast just like her, and now they were embracing each other, the years of loneliness melting inside their minds. Why? Because they knew that this was not something that would end just like that, it was something that would last for as long as they had each other, they had each other to look for comfort, they had each other to tell the other things they couldn't tell anypony else, but most importantly, they had each other to feel loved, they liked it. They liked it a lot. > Ending 2. Unfixable > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ending 2. Unfixable. A few thousand years later... There he was, the almighty Spike was sitting on his giant chair made of rocks and stone, where all dragons were kneeling in his presence, in fear of him, his reign was mighty, ressentful, and most importantly, powerful, after all, dragons were now the dominant species over Equestria. Every dragon obeyed his commands without hesitation, and every single one had fear of him, he was fast, quick, strong, mighty and powerful; however, no dragon had ever wondered how a little soft dragon like he was could become dragon lord and be so imponent like he is now. But he knew how, he knew exactly how he got there, he remembered a night from a long time ago, he had a friend named Apple Bloom, who was the outcast of Ponyville, but she wasn't alone, Spike also was an outcast, looking for comfort, and he thought he had found it in a young mare named Apple Bloom. One day, he asked her out on a date, and she accepted, he was happy as a clam when she said yes, they agreed to have their date on Sugarcube Corner, the building where the most delicious milkshakes in Equestria were made, the place where they first started to have feelings for each other. But all went downhill when the sister of his friend showed up, who made a wrong choice of words and made Apple Bloom go home crying, but not before breaking up with him, this left him stunned to his heart, he never expected their relationship to end that quick, but he had an idea to cheer her up. He talked with all of her friends and her sister, and he also brought her a gift to show her just how much he cared for her, something he gave the mare of his dreams a long time ago; he was prepared for everything she could throw at him, or at least he thought so... When he arrived at her home, she was worse than the day before, she seemed angrier, more bitter, more anxious, but he just wanted this to end, and so, he entered her house to clean this mess up, but not everything went as planned. She didn't let him speak, she didn't give him a chance to say what he wanted to say, she said that this world, along with herself, was unfixable, and finally, she threw him out of her house, like he didn't even matter to her, leaving him with a broken heart and with his hopes broken as well. He went home to reflect about everything that happened, she just dumped him and went back home to cry some more, but he also thought that he had just lost the 'only' friend he had left, he had screwed up the most important thing in his life, and he ruined the only chance he had to prove Ponyville and the rest of Equestria that just because he is a dragon didn't mean he was dangerous. It was too much, he thought he didn't have a single friend left in Ponyville, so he did something nopony would have expected from him: he left Ponyville for good. He wanted to live somewhere else to gain his place in the world, to earn a living fair and square, but the society of Equestria didn't allow it. FREAK!!!! LIZARD!!! DESTRUCTOR!!!! ANOMALY!!! ABOMINATION!!! DISASTER!!!! MONSTER!!! OUTCAST!!! BRUTE!!!! SCOUNDREL!!! VANDAL!!! In every town he visited was the exact same thing, they didn't see betond his appearance, they just wanted him gone, but he just wanted to fit in, which he couldn't do. After many disappointments in every city of Equestria, he started to have hard feelings against the ponies, every day that passed, he started to lose the good memories of the ponies, and he started to think worse and worse about them, they were just a bunch of hypocrites after all, right? the world is exactly like Apple Bloom said it would be, all of those tiny horses thought that they were the finest species of Equestria, and every creature else was 'just so weird', so he did the unthinkable, he went straight to the dragon lands. Once he was there, he trained as hard as he could, lifting heavy rocks to work his arms, burning stone to improve his fire breath, competing with other teenage dragons, lifting rocks and gaining force on his wings for the big day; appareantly, there was some sort of contest to become dragon lord, something called 'the gauntlet of fire', and Spike knew he had to win it. When the big competence arrived, he did everything he could to win the competence, but he lost himself in the process, the things he learned about friendship in Ponyville, the good intentions he had, the honesty, generosity and kindness he learned from everypony was lost, and instead, it was replaced by a growing darkness. In the end, Spike won the gauntlet of fire cheating. His first decrete was militarize and educate all the dragons in the dragon lands, they had to stop being lazy if they were going to accomplish Lord Spike's wishes; once they were trained, Spike sent the dragons to Equestria to conquer it, Appleoosa, Manehattan, Ponyville, Fillydelphia and many more cities were conquered one by one, after a long battle between ponies and dragons, the dragons had won over the ponies. When dragons completely conquered Equestria, Spike was filled with joy, those hypocrites now had tasted some of their own medicine, but after a while, a new came to Spike's ears; appareantly a mare named Apple Bloom demanded to speak to the dragon lord, but instead of allowing her, she was thrown into the dungeons for 'speaking loudly to a dragon', in where she spent the rest of her days. Spike sat on his throne, because he was now going to be remembered as the dragon lord who made dragons a stronger species, with the capacity of being the most powerful army in the world, and he was celebrated for a long time. But as the years passed, Spike was starting to reflect on his actions, Was everything he did in the dragon lands worth it? Was losing all the light and goodness inside of him a good idea? Was Apple Bloom right? Did she or the other ponies really deserve it? Spike thought about it for a moment, but he realised that it didn't matter if Apple Bloom was right or not, after all, Equestria was under his command from now on, and he knew that, even if he wanted to, he couldn't go back, because some things, some ponies and their personalities, some of the things you do in life... Are just UNFIXABLE...
