> The True God of Chaos > by Mordred > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > Primordial Chaos > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Twilight made her way through the long, twisting halls of Canterlot Castle after being summoned by Celestia. She was on her way to Celestia’s personal quarters, where Celestia had told her that she would be waiting for Twilight to arrive. Twilight arrived in front of the white door, emblazoned with the mark of the sun, Celestia’s cutie mark. She took note of the conspicuous lack of guards near the door, the only guards being at either end of the long hall that led past her room. Twilight knocked on the door hesitantly, and she heard Celestia’s voice call out from inside, “Come in, Twilight,” Twilight entered the room, and asked, “You wanted to speak with me, Princess?” Celestia nodded, and said, “You’ll probably want to sit down for this, it’s a very long story,” Twilight pulled out the chair from Celestia’s desk and sat, and Celestia, seeing that Twilight was now comfortable, started, “As you know, Discord is the Spirit of Chaos,” Twilight nodded, and Celestia continued, “However, he is not the only embodiment of Chaos, and the one who came before him was many times more powerful, and many times more vicious,” Twilight looked fearfully at Celestia, and asked, “Is this previous embodiment of Chaos still alive?” Celestia nodded, and continued her story, “This previous Chaos being was as close to a god as you could be. He couldn’t die, he couldn’t be harmed, and his magical power was the highest that anyone has ever seen. He could have destroyed the entire universe had he been so inclined, but luckily he was focused on this planet. His reign lasted for four thousand years, if you could call it a reign. He didn’t rule, but instead flitted between any country that was interested in war, and gave them technologies and weapons beyond our imagination. When he finally got to Equestria, which at the time was embroiled in a war between the tribes, with the pegasi having a significant advantage over the others, due to their ability to strike down the other tribes from on high. Well, he arrived, and he did two things. He created the first two alicorns, Luna and my parents, and he created the Tree of Harmony. My parents took over Equestria as its rulers, unifying the three tribes. At this point, he left Equestria and went to the Minotaur nation, at the time known as Taurus, and gave them weapons that could fire supersonic projectiles. The minotaurs invaded about thirty years after they were given these weapons, and they invaded Equestria from the west. Luna was born about fourteen years prior to this, and I was born two years before her. The minotaurs pushed through our forces at every battle, heading straight for the capital, which was in the Whitetail Woods at the time. They arrived after only a month of fighting, and it was then that I first harnessed the power of the sun. I incinerated most of the invading minotaurs, and Luna, gaining her connection to the moon, crushed the rest of their armies underhoof. When we found out that it was this previous God of Chaos that had caused so many of our ponies to die, we went to the Tree of Harmony, which he had created, and it gave us the Elements of Harmony. We took these Elements and found him, in his cave were he was staying at the time. When he saw us, with the Elements, he laughed, and simply said, “Finally, someone realized the purpose of that god damned tree,” We didn’t take much stock in it when we heard it, but when we used them on him, we could tell that they only worked because he allowed them to work. He was turned to stone, as most are if the Elements think they are an agent of Chaos, and we bound him in chains that nullify magic, then put him in Tartarus, then filled the area that he was in with enchanted lava that also nullified magic. After we took all these precautions, we sealed the entrance to Tartarus. He’s been down there for the last three thousand years, and we have no idea if he’ll ever get loose.” Twilight thought over all that Celestia had said, and asked, “What was his name, and why did he cause so much war?” Celestia looked down at her hooves, and said, “His name was Strife, and he caused the wars because he was trying to force an evolution of the races that had been living in peace. Why he was trying to do this, according to him, was because the sentient races had stagnated, and were no longer creating new inventions, magical or physical,” Twilight was surprised to find that a so-called God of Chaos had been working for the betterment of sentient races, and on that thought asked, “What race was Strife? I didn’t hear any mention that you made of his race, so I assumed he was draconequus,” Celestia shook her head, and said, “He was no draconequus, and we have no idea what he was, but he called himself a human,” Twilight looked shocked to hear this, and said, “But the humans beyond the mirror are largely peaceful, not warlike like what you described him as,” “Just because he was a human doesn’t mean that he was from that world. I believe that he was from a world very different from ours,” Celestia responded. Twilight pondered over this, and said, “Why are you telling me this now?” Celestia responded, saying, “When Tirek escaped, I fear that he may have weakened the spells that kept him trapped, so he may be making a return soon.” ~Deepest pit of Tartarus~ Strife finished counting to 1,000,000,000,000,000 and noticed that the stone and chains around him were no longer so hard. He stretched his arms, and shattered both the stone and chains that had been holding him down. He swam up through the lava, not caring about the heat, and came up in the center of a lake of magma. He swam to the shore and pulled himself out, snapping his fingers and creating a set of clothes for him. A demon observed an odd bipedal figure swim out of the lake of magma that any who swam in were killed, and ran off to tell the demon Council of his find, after observing the creature create a pair of blue pants and a gray shirt from nothing. Strife began making his way to the entrance of Tartarus, where Cerberus was waiting patiently. He scratched the giant three-headed dog under the chin and walked out of the giant entrance, entering into a large forest. He said out loud, even though there were none to hear, “I wonder how those two sisters are doing in Equestria?” He set out and began walking to the east, where he could sense an extremely high concentration of magic.
