> You're Special No Matter What to Me > by Creativa-Artly01 > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > Chapter 1 > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- It's a beautiful moon swept night as Flurry Heart looks over the balcony at the beautiful night sky around her. As she looks at the sky, she can't help but let tears fall down from her eyes. "I miss you, daddy, I miss you," she cries. A few minutes later, she hears a thud, which prompts her to turn around. "Oh, hey Gal," says Flurry Heart. "Hey Flurry," responds Gal, "I heard you crying. Are you okay?" "To be honest, no," responds Flurry Heart, "mom has ignored me ever since daddy passed away. I feel as if I'm not special to her anymore. I'm worried she sees me as daddy's little girl and that's why she's turned away from me. Heck, I don't even have a cutie mark and I can't even fly with my wings." "Well," responds Gal, "I feel your pain. I'm the one with the weakest magic in my family and often no pony pays me any mind because of it." "Well, I'm glad somepony does," responds Flurry with a chuckle. "Why don't you come sit down next to me and watch the stars? I've always enjoyed watching the stars. I used to do it with mommy and daddy all the time." Galaxy nods and comes and sits down next to her friend. "That's cool," responds Galaxy with a smile, "and by the way, you're special to me no matter what." "Thanks," giggles Flurry, "that means the world from you." The two then embrace and share a hug. The two then get back to watching the stars. She then begins to sing a song to herself as they sit there. "I used to have more fun staring at the stars for hours on end, back when mom still loved me and dad was still alive. We'd identify constellations together. We'd laugh, joke, dad would share stories about all the adventures he had as captain of the royal guard, or stories about him and Auntie Twily as foals. How I wish he was still here! Then mom wouldn't hate me, look down on me, turn away from me. How I want the old days back! How I wish things were back to the way they used to be! How I wish things were back to the way they used to be." "Well, that must be hard, huh?" says Galaxy. "I heard your song." "Oh," responds Flurry with a blush. "I didn't realize." "It's fine, it was a sweet song, pretty sad though. Are you really okay, Flurry?" inquires Galaxy. "No, I'll never be fine," responds Flurry Heart. "Never again." "Well, why don't we go for a stroll? It'll help. It'll be good for you." Flurry nods and the two leave the balcony and go and walk through the quiet streets of Canterlot. As the two walk through the streets, they hear crying coming from the palace. "Oh no," says Flurry Heart, "something's happened to Aunt Twilight again." "Keep your mind on the walk, Flurry," says Gal. "You can go tend to your aunt when we get back to the castle." Flurry nods and the two finish up their walk before returning to the castle where Flurry then goes to Twilight's room. Gal, however, goes to the library for the night to do a bit of light nighttime studying. "Aunt Twilight," says Flurry as she walks up to Twilight's bedside. "What happened?" "Well," responds Twilight, "not only are my brother and my best friends dead, but Spike was just ripped out of my hooves by ponies saying all dragons are now dangerous, so they took him away and locked him up somewhere. My last friend has been taken from me." "Oh, Auntie Twilight," says Flurry embracing Twilight in a hug. "We'll get him back. I'm sure Gal and I can help." "We need to keep Gal out of this," responds Twilight with a sniffle, "promise me that." "I promise," responds Flurry Heart. "We'll get him back, then, I promise." Twilight sniffles then nods as she embraces Flurry in another hug. "Tell your mother, I miss her." Flurry nods and leaves the room. She then turns into her room for the night and cries herself to sleep. > Chapter 2 > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- A few days later, Flurry Heart goes on a trip with Galaxy to the annual Firelight Festival in her home town a few hours north of Canterlot. "You were right Gal," says Flurry as they walk, "this is a great festival! I see why you love it so much!" "Yeah," responds Galaxy, "my parents have hosted it for years, so I always come. It's the only time we actually get along." The two walk through the streets and by a smores stand. Galaxy throws the cart pony four bits and he hands them two smores, which the two friends happily begin to munch on. A few minutes later, they pass by a face painting stand and Galaxy pays for Flurry Heart to get her face painted. Once they're done there, the two head off to do the main activity of the whole festival: the firelight walk through the town. A few moments later, they arrive in the center of the town and get their lit candles. They then get in the line and not long after that, the walk begins. As they walk, everypony sings the Firelight Festival Song and Flurry even joins in with a little bit of helpful nudging from Galaxy. "The fire it guides us and it keeps us warm. The fire, it lights up our streets and our homes. This walk is a tradition held through the ages. The fire will lead us where we need to go. It will warm us through the winter cold. The fire is our protector. It is our warmth. Feel it as it glows. The fire is the one thing we'll always know. The fire it guides us and it keeps us warm. The fire, it lights up our streets and our homes. It guides us home and will for years to come. The fire, it guids us home and will for years to come." A few minutes later, they come to the edge of the town and they all blow out the candles there, sending the warmth off their surrounding communities. That night at Galaxy's house, the two girls whisper about the fun they had at the festival. "Wow! Best thing I've ever done. It was nice to get outside the castle walls for once in years," sighs Flurry Heart with a smile. "I'm glad you enjoyed it, do you plan on telling your family about it?" responds Gal. "Even if I tried to, mom and auntie wouldn't listen," responds Flurry rubbing her hoof. "Good night." She then turns over on her side and falls fast asleep. "Good night to you too, Flurry," responds Gal with a smile before falling asleep herself. All she can do is hope she didn't just offend the one friend she's ever had with her question. The next morning, the two grab homemade muffins for breakfast and head out to the train station to hop on the train back to Canterlot. On the train back, Galaxy asks Flurry what was on her mind all last night. "Flurry," says Galaxy, "did I offend you with my question last night?" "Of course not," responds Flurry with a smile. "You didn't know any better. It's all good." "Good," responds Galaxy, "I'm glad. I was worry I had. I'm glad I didn't." Flurry embraces her friend in a hug. A few hours later, the two return back to Canterlot and return back to the castle not much longer after that. There, the two are approached by Twilight and Cadence. "Did you two have fun?" asks Cadence. The two look at each other shocked before responding. "Yes, we had a blast!" exclaim Flurry and Galaxy. "Thanks for asking." "Good," responds Cadence. "I'm glad at least one of us is able to move on." She then turns around and returns to her room followed by Twilight. Flurry and Gal, however, head off to Gal's room to hang out for the rest of the day.
