Luna Gets Married

It was four years after both Luna and Hourglass had been meeting with each other, going on dates, and traveling to a lot of places around Equestria. Now it was a time in their relationship where they knew a lot about each other and had grown closer as friends and special someponies. They both really loved each other very much and respected each other deeply and helped each other when needed.

Now it was a very big step in a new direction for Hourglass, because this very night he would be popping the question and asking Luna to marry him. It had been quite the feat, he had to save money for an expensive wedding ring, he had to get "top secret" clearance from Princess Celestia (secret to Luna, not to Celestia or Hourglass), and he had to make sure that they had been in a good relationship up until that point.

"I think that Luna and I have had a good relationship until this point," Hourglass told himself the night before he went to buy the wedding ring. "I mean, we both understand each other, we both respect each other, and we both love each other very very much. There should be a good chance of her saying yes." Hourglass went to sleep that evening dreaming about his hopeful bride to be.

That same evening after she had lowered the moon, Luna was having thoughts about her own about Hourglass. She was thinking about the long and prosperous relationship that both she and Hourglass had been through for the last 4 years, for the most part it was really good, and she was glad that she was able to find a pony that had similar struggles like hers and that the stallion that loved her was an equal to her.

They had been doing good this whole time, and Luna was loving every bit of it. "I loved that time when we went on that vacation to Las Pegasus. What times we had playing in the arcades, riding on roller coasters, and even meeting up with those two unicorns that run the place."

She kept thinking about other times. "That time where we were able to meet Twilight and her friends at the new school they have made was really nice, and I loved meeting all of the new students that they were able to enroll. There was also that time where he and I met up at Manehatten and got to watch a show on Bridleway, what a show that was."

She kept thinking of her best friend that night as she looked through dreams making sure that there were no nightmares ruining anyponies dreams. When she did see Hourglass, she was glad to see that he was dreaming of her again.
"He is just as besotted with me as the time we first met." She whispered as she watched and left.

That next day Hourglass had asked Luna to meet him at the Canterlot Gardens at 3:30 PM in the afternoon, he had a surprise for her. Luna was really excited to find out what the surprise would be and what it would give her. "Wonder what it could be," she said as she thought about it.

"Could it be something to help me with dream watching? Could it help me with royal duties? Or could it help me be nearer to my sweetheart?" Luna had no idea that it was the last scenario that she had thought about.

That afternoon after the meetings with many of the departments of Defense and Transportation, Luna finally got the chance to meet Hourglass in the Canterlot Gardens. She swooped in while flying and landed near the back of the garden towards the wall facing to the South.

Luna talked to herself. "Good, I've gotten here. Now I just need to meet up with Hourglass and see what he has gotten me. Wait there he is." She had just caught sight of Hourglass who was sitting on the very bench that they had sat on 4 years earlier.

"Hello Hourglass, are you having a good afternoon today?" Asked Luna from a distance.

"I am having a wonderful day now that you are here Luna." Hourglass sighed when he saw her coming. "Are you ready for me to give you the surprise I told you about?"

"Yes Hourglass, I am ready." Luna answered. She was starting to get butterflies in her stomach just because of the suspence of waiting.

Hourglass motioned her to come and sit beside him on the park bench and began to speak. "You know that I love you dearly, don't you know that Luna?"

Luna nodded. "Yes I do my dear."

Hourglass continued. "And you know that we've been together for a long time now and that we've had many good experiences. Don't you?"

Luna nodded again. "Yes Hourglass."

Hourglass inched closer. "How would you like to be together forever?"

Luna blinked. "What do you mean?"

Hourglass slowly took the ring box out of his pocket and presented the ring to Luna. "Luna," he asked. "Would you be my wife?"

Luna was struck by shock for a good five minutes, Hourglass wasn't sure if Luna was still there or not. "Luna? LUNA? ARE YOU O.K. LUNA!?!?" Hourglass was in a panic. He calmed down and decided to do the one thing he could do with her in cases like this, he kissed his beloved right on the muzzle for a good five minutes just like they had done on their first date.

Luna came back to after the kiss was over. "Wow! What just happened?"

"You were in a state of shock, I'm glad I brought you out of it." Hourglass answered. "Do you still want to marry me?" he asked sadly.

Luna kissed him on the cheek. "Of course my love, I would love to." Hourglass smiled greatly and kissed his bride to be.

The next week Hourglass and Celestia were hard at work to get every part of the wedding ready. Everything from where the wedding would take place to how the guests would dress to how the reception would happen.

"We really need it to happen in the main throne room, that would make for a good effect." Hourglass told Celestia.

"We would have plenty of room in there for the reception and the number of guests that we would have along with how many ponies would come in." Celestia agreed.

Hourglass continued. "Now down to the planning of the reception, I have a whole list here for you to look over." Hourglass handed over the list he had made to Celestia with his magic.

The list was like this:

1. Reception begins and guests arrive.

2. Reception starts with the bride (Luna) making her way up to the front where the groom (Me) will be standing.

3. Reception to be presided over by Princess Celestia.

4. Vows to be made at this point.

5. Rings to be passed to each spouse

6. The commitment (do you take this...) part.

7. Dance and dinner to follow reception.

8. That's it.

Celestia was impressed with how Hourglass planned out everything. "You plan events out like Twilight did when she was my student."

"Why thank you." Hourglass smiled. "Do you think we can work that all in on the reception?"

Celestia thought for a moment, then she said. "I will permit what I can from how you've planned the reception."

"Sounds good with me!" Hourglass shouted excitedly. The planning lasted for a very long time until midnight on the night before the wedding.

That same week Luna was preparing herself both physically and emotionally for the marriage. She had ordered the best wedding dress that she could find from the local tailor ponies, the dress was a pure white with a perfect veil for her to wear.

Luna spoke to herself privately one day in her own chamber (of which would soon become a chamber for her husband as well). "You need to relax and let Hourglass be the stallion you know he is, one that will always love you and take care of you no matter what happens."

She kept speaking as she tried on the wedding dress. "There will be challenges and struggles that the both of us will go through during our life long union I know that. But I've been through challenges much much greater than this in the past, I've been a world ruler, I've been a conqueror of evil, I've become evil myself, I've been up on the moon for a thousand years, I've been reformed, and I've been lonely the whole time. If that's not endurance of hardships, I don't know what is."

She finished by saying. "No matter what happens, I will make sure that I am a loving wife to my soon to be husband. No doubt about that!" Luna finished, still feeling slightly insecure but ready for whatever would come in the future.

Now it was the day of the wedding. Ponies from all over Equestria had come to witness the event, family members from Hourglass' side had come to see him get married (Luna and Celestia's family couldn't make in unfourtunately because they had been dead for a long time), and the whole palace was heavily guarded by the royal guards and soldiers from the army to make sure no assassinations would happen during a day of great joy.

The whole reception began as "Here Comes the Bride" was played on a grand pipe organ in the throne room. Luna entered with her beautiful wedding dress on, all heads were turning to see her as she made her way up to the front of the room to meet up with Hourglass. They both meet and walked the last few paces to Celestia, from there the reception really began.

Celestia started. "We are here to witness the marriage of both Hourglass and my sister Luna. These two have met on a date four years ago and have made a wonderful relationship with each other, they have been traveling over this vast land, they have gotten to know each other very well, and they have been dating for a very long time up until this point. Now they have made the biggest decision of their lives to spend the rest of their lives with each other in marriage."

Celestia continued. "Now the vows will be given. You will repeat after me Hourglass."

Celestia said these words while Hourglass repeated them at every pause:

" You are my lover and my teacher...You are my model and my accomplice...And you are my true counterpart.
I will love you... hold you and honor you...I will respect you, encourage you and cherish you...In health and sickness...
Through sorrow and success...For all the days of my life."

Celestia did the same with Luna, but with a different set of words:

""I take you to be my partner for life...I promise above all else to live in truth with you...And to communicate fully and fearlessly...I give you my hoof and my heart...As a sanctuary of warmth and peace...And pledge my love, devotion, faith and honor...As I join my life to yours."

Celestia finished and the commitment piece started. "Do you, Hourglass take my sister as your lawfully wedded wife?"

Hourglass answered. "Wholeheartedly Celestia."

Celestia turned to her sister. "And you Luna, do you take Hourglass as your lawfully wedded Husband?"

Luna teared up and said. "Yes."

Celestia finished. "Then in the power vested in me from the forefathers of our nation, and all royalty before and after our time. I now pronounce you Stallion and Mare."

Both Luna and Hourglass kissed as an uproar of applause came from all of the ponies in the throne room and outside shaking the entire capitol city to the bone. The organist played "For He's a Jolly Good Fellow" as the newlyweds left the throne room.

After the whole reception had finished and all of the guests and family members gone. Luna and Hourglass just stood with each other finally husband and wife, finally married. Celestia loved what she was seeing and was really happy for her sister for what had just happened. From this point onward they would be together forever and supporting each other every step of the way. It was a truly deeply moving thing for Celestia as a tear slowly trickled down her cheek onto the floor.

"I will always love you Luna." Hourglass whispered to his wife.

"And I will support you every day for as long as we both shall live. 'til death do us part." Luna returned.

Luna kept up her royal duties as the Princess of the Night while Hourglass was promoted the new Lieutenant of the Canterlot Royal Guards. They still loved each other very much, and that would always be true, to infinity and beyond...
