A day in the life

A soft breeze blew in through the window of the bedroom, making the silk curtains, of the massive four poster queen sized bed, sway. Mixed in with the giant purple comforter was a single lump of white fluff with a purple sleeping mask covering the eyes. One part of the white began to stir before stepping away from the main body. It let out a small yawn, the pink of its tongue was the only splash of color among the purple and white. After the yawn the small fluff of white turned around and looked at the mass she had left behind. The whole mountain of white started to rumble as it turned into its side and began to stretch and awaken. The slumbering beast ready to greet the day with a yawn herself.

She blinked away then sleep before focusing as her mask slide off easily and levitated to a small stand resting on her bedside table. Her hooves soon touched the floor before walking towards the dresser. Looking in the mirror her mane was a disaster, strands all over the place. Her horn gave off the faint glow among the mess as she lifted several brushes and began to work.

The small puff that was left on the bed hopped off, walking over to jump up on the dresser and meow softly.

"Oh darling I didn't forget you Opal." Soon she moved a brush over to groom her cat. Rarity was smiling softly as she saw the progress of her own mane and the fur of her cat. Soon her vibrant mane and tail were fluffed and curled just right, while Opal was groomed and a bow placed on her head by the left ear.

Rarity smiled before walking out of her room and down the hall. She heard a small commotion coming from Sweetie Belle's room. So as the loving and caring sister she is, her magic opened the door as she peaked inside. The room looked like a battle ground with toys and beauty supplies everywhere. It's owner was currently fighting a blanket monster that had swallowed her whole. Rarity smiles and giggled a little before reaching out and unfurling the blanket from around her sister.

"Did it attack you Sweetie?"

"Who wha?" Sweetie seemed a bit dazed as she looked around before smiling sheepishly. "Oh good morning Rairty. No I just fell out of bed and got tangled up." The filly had a crow's nest of a mane, her coat itself showing signs of dirt from crusading yesterday.

A frown crossed the fabulous mare's face before she sighed and looked towards the filly who was smiling happily and eagerly. "Well go take a bath before work. I will make pancakes while you are cleaning up."

She watched as the little filly's eyes grew wide before she bolted down the hallway towards the bathroom. The water starting to flow as she was starting to bathe.

Rarity smiled as she walked downstairs, her horn flicking on the lights before she began collecting everything she needed. It was an auto spell for her at this point, she didn't even focus on the pancakes as they made themselves. Her attention was focused on the book of designs. Several papers with notes littered in the table as she sat down, her glasses set on her nose as she read over the books.

A sheet of paper was being filled with measurements and various quick sketches before she shut it and cleared her work off the table. Soon there was three plates sitting on the table. She separated one pancake into two of them before pulling over the forks and knives needed.

Rarity seated herself before scooting forward against the table. She looked towards the hallway as she began spreading butter onto her pancake.

After a few more minutes Sweetie came out of the hallway, a towel still wrapped around her mane and a other on her tail. She quickly sat herself down before focusing, tongue poking out the side of her mouth as she glared at the butter and knife. After a few moments the spell worked as it began to butter itself.

"Sis! This is really starting to get easier." The smile was so wide and contagious Rarity was ear to ear as she poured the syrup on her own.

"Very good Sweetie. Now see if you can't modify the spell while its active to pour syrup and cut up the pancake into squares." Her spell was mastered that it was a step process and it knew how large the pancakes were even.

Her sister nodded and focused again, the tongue poking out again. The knife wobbled a bit but soon it finished with the butter before starting to glide through the pancake to make square inch cubes. The bottle of syrup floating over as it poured slowly over the cubes before setting back down. Finally without being told, Sweetie had incorporated the fork to lift a cube up so she could easily enjoy the meal. So with a grin she was chewing the piece of pancake.

Rarity was so happy for her sister, having mastered the process rather well. She began eating herself as she looked towards the back doors. It was almost that time today, a sigh escaped her as she shook her head.

"Something..." Sweetie was starting to ask something when there was a knock at the backdoor and then the sound of something running away. "Oh I didn't know it was that late in the morning." The little filly hopped off the chair before heading to the back door. She opened it to reveal a basket full of different gems, each glowing beautifully and a baque of rainbow roses resting atop them. Sweetie sighed as she focused and began levitating the basket inside and to the counter. Several other baskets similar to that one sat there.

"Oh I do need to have a talk with Twilight today. That poor dear is obsessed... This is the fifth one." Rarity sighed softly before pulling out a card that was among the gems. She quickly read it before frowning slightly. "This is simply atrocious."

Sweetie took the bite and read it aloud herself.

How can I count the ways I love thee

You are all I see in my life

Oh by the wood, how I may

Counts the ways. That your beauty shines.

Your name so fine, as is your whine.

Tis music to the ears.

Yours forever
A secret

Sweetie Belle raised a brow as she set the note down and looked towards her sister. "They stink at rhyming and need to go back to school."

"Be nice Sweetie."

"But Rairty it stinks! Even I know that and we tried to get our poetry cutie marks. Not even Scootaloo was that bad." The filly did have a point as Rairty simply cringed at the memory. "Now Sweetie at least your friend tried her best..."

The filly deadpanned at her sister before looking at the sliding glass doors they had in the kitchen leading out of the house. "Her poem made glass break with the rhyming. Even Discord threw popcorn and booed her off stage. But this is even worse. Why do stallions make up mooshy stuff like this."

"Well Sweetie when a stallion falls in love with a mare but can't express how they feel to the pony. They write poems, songs, coreagraph a dance number, or sometimes they do elobarote hair brained schemes to gain the attention of the pony they like. Someday you'll see yourself."

"But what if it is a mare that likes you Rarity? Like how Vinyl likes Octavia or Lyra likes Bonbon. What would you do if a mare liked you?" Sweetie asked so innocently.

"Sweetie there is a way of things and I'm sorry but a mare would never be able to do what I need. You'll see what I mean when you are older."

"Whatever Rarity and besides this is just stupid because obviously if they can't be pony enough to talk to you. Then they don't deserve you. Cause you're fabulous." Sweetie smirked and looked towards her sister as she threw away the love note.

Rarity giggled a bit as she got another pancake and went on with her breakfast. "Thank you Sweetie but remember to be nice because romance is hard. Now what are your plans for today?"

The filly walked back and got into her own seat to start enjoying her breakfast again. "Nothing, both the other crusaders have plans already and I can't well go on adventures on my own. So I was gonna spend the day around here."

Rarity smiled as she nodded and finished off Herr second pancake. "Alright well I have a bit of work to do today with a few more clothes to make. Some orders are near completion as well. Would you like to sing for anyone who comes inside?"

There was a moment of silence before Rarity felt herself tackled to the ground and the air being squeezed out of her lungs. Her little sister was hugging the stuffing out of her and nuzzling into her chest eagerly.

"I would love to sis. Thank you soo much." Sweetie was a giggly ball of joy as she skipped back to her seat, taking the towels off her mane and tail. Both still damp a bit as she started finishing her food. "Who will play with me, Octavia, Vinyl, or Lyra?"

"I will leave the choice up to you. Simply go ask the one you wish to play while you sing and I am sure they will help you out. Also tell them the usual wage for helping out. Now you need to dry out your mane and tail dear." Rarity finished the second pancake and started cleaning up breakfast. It was another spell that was cast then ran itself for the life of cleaning.

Sweetie finished her plate and levitated it ibto the field of magic around the rest of the dishes. "Alright sis. I'll see you later then." The little filly hopped off the chair as she focused her magic as the door opened. Soon there was several small tornados flowing through her mane to dry it all out.

Rarity snickered as she left the kitchen and went to the front of the store. She wouldn't officially open up for customers until Sweetie got back with her music accompaniment. So for now she started finishing up a few orders meant to be picked up for the day. Soon she began being absorbed in her work as scissors and fabric flew here and there. Needles and thread began working on several mass produced garments for the summer season. Rarity became so absorbed she didn't notice her sister walk in with the three mares. They all simply looked at one another before heading towards the stage as they all began to set up. Rarity was focusing on a rather large dress she was going to gift to Celestia on the day of the summer sun celebration. It was a long soft yellow dress with small crystals to reflect a rainbow of light into the air. She was carefully making a crown and necklace of nothing but the jewels with clear fishing line wrapped around the gems.

Sweetie smiled softly before the bass began to bump, shaking the stage a bit as it was a low volume but could be felt. Octavia began dragging her bow across the cello as the deep bellow filled the air. Lyra was smirking as she stood on her hind legs and was using a full sized harp, strumming the cords as the light sound filled the air around them. Before she grabbed the microphone she focused as tendrils flew out and opened all the windows and switched the sign to open as the door unlocked and swung inside. The stoop flipping down to keep it in place. Her sweet voice soon filling the air beside the music.

'Oh by the sun of the day, your light shines my way.
Like a mother, you bring us together.
With a heart of love, your as gentle as a dove.'

Sweetie kept singing for a few solid hours, mixing up the tempo and sings she sang. The trio of musicians kept up easily with the filly as they grew a large crowd of ponies to the small store. Each pony who entered was captivated not only by the music but the outfits splayed all over the showroom. Several ponies purchased summer garments while they were there but a few even placed custom orders for clothes or alterations in some they had or just bought.

It was a huge success as Rarity was finishing up for the day, having paid all three mares over what she normally did for the extra effort they put in for the day. Sweetie even got a small bag of bits which she eagerly ran up to her room. Rarity was left all alone as the dusky rays of the sun covered the sky with a crimson glory. She sighed softly and was looking around as she cleaned up the last bits and pieces she had used. Then the Bell by the door chimed, being magically signaled when somepony stepped inside.

"Hello darling, be with you in a moment. Just stand by the register." Rarity was liftibg spools of fabric back onto the shelf as thread and needles flew into their colored boxes. Several garments that were just finished got boxed up nearly and orderly, name tags telling who they were from. Finally Rarity was shutting off the back light before walking towards the front.

A sole red furred unicorn mare sat on her haunches before the register. A black dress with a short skirt covered her tosro and flanks. The skirt was see through to a cutie mark of a black rose wrapped around a sword. Along all four legs were black laces criscrossed with rings on the meeting points to keep it even. Her tail and mane were a rich azure and two soft cat green eyes peered at her before she flicked her head to switch her mane to the other side.

"Oh why hello there. Welcome to Beauty Boutique how may I serve you?" Rarity wasn't very fond of the mare's dress or her look at all. The whole thing reminded the fashion mare of those Gothic pictures and times back in pony history.

"Hello my name is Velvet Rose. I am in need of two things. The first is a dress for the Grand Galloping Ball in two weeks. I would like something similar to the clothing I have on now but I want ivy patterns incorporated into the design." Velvet waited a few moments while Rarity began writing down notes on a piece of paper and started visually measuring the mare. It would be a bit bland if it was all black but Rarity had a few ideas of how to keep the grim overlook but add in a mixture of color.

"What is the second thing you need Miss Rose?"

Velvet took a moment to look around, seeming at a lose of words before her face darkened in the cheeks. "Woouldyouliketogotothegallawithme? Ifindyouveryattractiveabdwouldwidhtobeyourdate." Rarity was just stunned at the speed of the question. She could barely comprehend what was happening before the mare was running out of the store.

Rarity sat there with a look of shock in her face before she heard a. "Ha! Ha I knew that would be the case! I was right! Ooooh those three all owe me bits now!" Sweetie was standing on the stairs before running out the door and heading after her accompaniment musicians. She had a bag of bits to gather. Meanwhile her sister sat there before a strand of her mane popped out of place, soon her entire hairdew was scattered around her head. Her tail looking like the end of a broom, smoke coming out of her ears as her brain tried to comprehend it all. It wasn't long before she fainted and fell back into a couch that suddenly appeared.
