The Two Trixies

Starlight and Sunset have the Trixies from the FIM and EQG universes meet up. Naturally, both Trixies have a competition to figure out which one of them is the Greatest and Most Powerful.

After foiling Wallflower Blush's scheme, Sunset decides to spend some downtime with Starlight in the human world. They catch up for a while, but soon discover that they have something unique in common: The Trixie from their universe helped save the day at least once. Grateful for this trait, Starlight decides that both Trixies should meet up, since they're heroes and all.

And then the inevitable happens: Both Trixies meet up with each other and immediately decide to have a competition to figure out which Trixie is the Greatest and Most Powerful.

Things only escalate from there.

The World Ain't Big Enough For Our Egos

View Online

When Canterlot High dismissed for the weekend, most students went out of their way to get out of town as fast as they could. Like most high schoolers, they had plans for the next two and a half days. Movies, a trip to the beach, going out on dates, that sort of thing. Then again, Canterlot High was not exactly a normal school, and it had a student that wasn’t the average teenage girl. Matter of fact, she wasn’t exactly from around here.

Speaking of that student, Sunset Shimmer was sitting by the horse statue in front of the school. She looked over the photos in her phone to kill some time. After what just happened, she made it a point to take more pictures with her friends, in case things went sour like they did recently. It made her appreciate her friends a little more, and she wanted a way to remember them no matter what happened in the future.

A convertible car drove up by the school, driven by none other than Rarity. Fluttershy was in the passenger seat next to her, and they both sported sunglasses. “Are you sure you don’t want to head out of town for the weekend, Sunset?” Rarity asked. “Roughing it in the woods sounds like just what we need.”

“No thanks. I’m already booked for the next two days. Go ahead and have fun without me,” Sunset replied.

“Okay. We’ll take a lot of pictures so you won’t miss a thing!” Fluttershy replied. The car drove off into the distance.

“I know. If only I wasn’t already occupied with another friend,” Sunset sighed. She checked the time on her phone just to be sure. This friend promised to be here at 4 in the afternoon; it was already ten past the hour. There must have been some kind of holdup. This friend wasn’t as punctual as Twilight, but she wasn’t as terrible with schedules as Pinkie. What was going on?

Sunset leaned her head against the statue and tried to take a nap. Right when she was about to fall asleep, she heard the portal open up next to her. She scrambled to her feet at the sound, knowing exactly what it meant. Things were about to get interesting.

A familiar, purple skinned human stepped out of the portal, coming out on all fours at first. She stood up on her legs and adjusted the beanie on her hair. She greeted Sunset with a hug, overjoyed to be back here.

“Sunset Shimmer! Long time no see. Sorry about that,” she grinned.

“No problem, Starlight,” Sunset replied. “We’ve all been a little occupied in Canterlot High, so don’t sweat it. How’s life been treating you in Equestria?”

“That’s a long story. Seems like we’re saving the world every six months, but it’s what we do best. What have you been up to?”

“That’s also a long story. From the sounds of it, look like we have a lot to catch up on. Why don’t we get a bite to eat somewhere?”

“Sure thing. I haven’t eaten anything all day, and I’m kinda curious what humans eat. Lead the way, fearless leader.”

They gathered their things and made a beeline to the nearest cafe. While they were on their way, Sunset showed Starlight a few pictures of recent events on her phone, showing what happened at the beach and the big showdown with Wallflower Blush. Starlight was just amazed at the idea of a smartphone in general, and she was convinced it was made out of magic. She wasn’t entirely wrong.

They arrived at the nearest cafe, which happened to be Mr. and Mrs. Cake’s place. Starlight found it surreal when she saw someone she recognized from Equestria, right there as a human in front of her. She came to expect it over time, though, and she had herself a shake while they were there. The duo came to sit at a table, while Sunset brought out a yearbook and came to a particular page.

“You see that girl in the background? Green skin with darker hair?” she pointed out.

“She looks cute. What’s her name again?” Starlight asked.

“Wallflower Blush. So...the long story is, she found an artifact from Equestria that would wipe away memories. She tried to wipe out everyone’s memories of me to get back for what I did to her, even if it was an accident.”

“Oh Celestia, I’m so sorry to hear that. She didn’t get away with it, right?”

“Of course not. The Mane 6 were able to stop her at the last minute. Good thing Trixie helped me out of a jam, or else things would have gotten really bad.”

“Trixie? That Trixie? You know, that stage magician that calls herself the Great and Powerful Trixie all the time?”

Sunset was stunned. “You’ve met her back home, haven’t you? Is she full of herself in Equestria like she is in my world?”

“Yep, that sounds like Trixie to me. How did she help you with Wallflower’s plan?”

Sunset took a deep breath and told the whole story to Starlight. Starlight had a few sips of her shake as she listened closely, and she couldn’t believe what she was hearing. It wasn’t just how hairy things got for Sunset, but she was astonished by what this human Trixie did for her.

“Wow. I see why you like her so much,” she thought. “She sounds an awful lot like my Trixie, down to saving the day when the moment calls for it.”

“Really, now? How has she saved the day back home?”

“Come to think of it…” Now it was her turn detailing Trixie’s accomplishments back in Equestria, going with Starlight down to the changeling hive, in order to face Chrysalis against certain doom. As she went through her story, Sunset’s jaw nearly hit the floor at the news.

“So she’s a hero,” she noted. “Trixie might be full of herself, but she comes through for her friends when she needs to.”

“No kidding. I’m still learning how to be a good friend, but she’s helped me out along the way. Although, she could afford to learn a few friendship lessons of her own…”

Sunset giggled. “I know what you mean. It’s weird that no matter what universe she’s in, she always seems to make friends with somepony that tried enslaving the world. I wonder what would happen if the two of them met?”

Starlight looked off in the distance. “Come to think of it…”

It took a moment for Sunset to get it, but as soon as she did, she gasped. “Don’t tell me you’re thinking of doing that.”

“You know I would.”

“That’s a terrible idea. I don’t think any universe could handle the size of their egos combined.”

“You don’t know that for sure. Who knows? Maybe they’ll like each other, be good friends, or teach each other valuable friendship lessons of their own. And besides, we could be there with them to keep them in check.”

“Starlight, you have some crazy ideas, you know that?”

“You think that’s crazy, try thinking all cutie marks are evil, and you enslave an entire village to prove your point. Trust me, this is the best bad idea I’ve had in a long time.”

“Okay, but we’re making them meet up in this universe. It has a fraction of the magic of Equestria, so there’s less risk to it. I don’t want to have to clean up another mess Trixie made.”

“You have a deal. Meet up at the portal with your Trixie and I’ll bring mine over to the other side.”

“I just hope you know what you’re doing…”

------

“Why are we here again? The Great and Powerful Trixie had two shows planned for this weekend. Two! Do you know how many people have been eagerly awaiting the arrival of the greatest magician on earth?”

“Weren’t they just practice shows?”

“They’ll help me reach the masses in the future!”

Sunset rolled her eyes and laughed. After ringing her up, she brought Trixie back to CHS for a little special get together. Trixie, to nobody’s surprise, was already in her performance outfit, complete with cape and magician hat. Never know when the next big show might happen.

The only thing Trixie knew was that something magical would happen at the statue, but Sunset was tight lipped on what that magical thing would be. Oh, would she be in for the surprise of her life. They would just need to wait for Starlight to fulfill her end of the bargain, and the fireworks would officially begin.

Trixie tapped her foot impatiently, looking at her phone to remember all the things she had to put on hold for this. Still, Sunset was a good friend, so the wait had to be worth it. Just when she contemplated on heading out the door, a green flash of light illuminated the base. “What was that?”

“Oh, just wait…” Sunset smirked.

The flash of light took up the entire cement panel, and even Trixie could recognize a portal when she saw one. She took a step back when she saw two figures coming out of the magical aura. One was a purple skinned woman she recognized from the mall, but the other one was...herself?

Sure enough, a person that looked just like her flopped down to the ground on all fours, even wearing the same clothes as her. She lifted her head up and adjusted her eyes to what she was seeing. “What is this place? It’s so drab, so boring! Trixie does not like this place!” She brought her “hooves” to her face and gasped from the hands that greeted her. “What are these things? They look so adorable!”

The other Trixie had her jaw firmly on the ground. “What is the meaning of this? Did you clone me when I was sleeping? Why is she almost as beautiful as me?”

Then the Trixie from the portal saw the other Trixie. “WHAT? Who are you? And why can’t I walk straight?” She tried getting up, only to fall down again. “What did this place do to my legs?”

Starlight tried her best not to laugh. “Reminds me of my first time through the portal.” She leaned down and offered the former pony Trixie a hand. “You’re in another dimension or reality, and it changed your body to that of a ‘hu-man’.”

The Trixie from Equestria slowly pieced things together, and she took Starlight’s hand for support as she stood up. “I just don’t understand. Is that Trixie a clone?”

“I was thinking the same thing. Hah, I knew my clone would be almost as perfect as me,” said the human Trixie.

“It’s really hard to explain, but let me try…” Sunset started off. She then tried to explain everything to both Trixies, trying her best not to be boring with it. Still, the Equestrian Trixie nearly fell asleep a few times during the speech.

“So you’re saying that this Trixie is like me, only she’s a pony from another dimension?” the human Trixie asked. “Hey, what do you do when you’re a pony?”

“Do stage magic, irritate Princess Twilight Sparkle, hang out with Starlight here,” the Trixie from Equestria replied, leaning on her good friend to keep standing. “What do you do?”

“Do stage magic, convince everyone that I’m the greatest magician that ever lived, hang out with my newest and bestest friend, Sunset,” the human Trixie replied in a smug tone.

Sunset and Starlight looked at each other in bewilderment. Sunset was still a little nervous from the idea, thinking that things would explode at any moment. Starlight, on the other hand, brought a bucket of popcorn from Equestria for this occasion.

“Hmm. So you are my twin from another world,” the Equestrian Trixie noted. “This might be confusing with two of us together, especially since we’re wearing the same clothes.”

“I got it. I’ll call the pony Trixie ‘Great Trixie’, and the human Trixie will be called ‘Powerful Trixie’. What do you say?” Starlight offered.

“Starlight!” Sunset groaned. “You’re just going to inflate their egos--”

“We accept!” both Trixies answered.

Sunset had to take a moment to process this. Trixie, of all people, actually agreeing on something with someone? Then again, she was technically agreeing with herself…

“But only one Trixie can be the Greatest and Most Powerful!” Great Trixie interrupted. “You may be cute, a good friend to this Sunset Whatever-Her-Name-Is, and the greatest magician in this world, but I’m the greatest magician in my universe! There is only way to solve this dilemma…”

“Are you thinking what I’m thinking?” Powerful Trixie marveled.

“Oh yeah.”

Sunset started to sweat. “What are you thinking?”

“BEST TRIXIE COMPETITION!” both Trixies said in unison.

“I was afraid of that,” Sunset facepalmed. “Please, let’s just have some fun and not antagonize each other. We’re all friends here, right?”

“I understand why you’re worried, but this is their idea of fun,” Starlight replied, grabbing another hand of popcorn. “They’re going to keep this competition friendly and fun, trust me. We’re going to do that, right, Trixie? Or, err, Trixies?”

“Oh yes. It’s all in good fun. And besides, it’s not like anypony can touch us with our skill,” Great Trixie commented.

“Anypony? Only someone as adorable as me could come up with a word like that,” Powerful Trixie agreed. “So how should we do this?”

“I already have an idea. Or, should I say, many great and powerful ideas…”

------

When Starlight thought the two Trixies should meet up, she thought it would go a lot of different ways. She imagined that they would goof off with stage magic, tease Sci-Twi for fun, or anything other than what they actually came up with. It was starting to dawn on her why Sunset wasn’t on board with this.

She found herself sitting at a table in Sunset’s house, with Sunset sitting next to her. On the other side of the table, the Trixies sat across from them with a lot of flash cards in Powerful Trixie’s hands. For being a pony just a few minutes ago, Great Trixie sure was getting used to the idea of dimensions and other Trixies, given how friendly she was getting with her human counterpart.

“Um, what are you two doing?” Starlight finally asked.

“It’s simple, silly,” Great Trixie explained. “We’re both good friends with the two of you, so our first competition will decide which Trixie is the better friend!”

“That may not be the best idea,” Sunset spoke up. “I only became friends with Powerful Trixie a few weeks ago, and it sounds like Starlight’s been friends with Great Trixie for a long time. It’s not exactly a fair competition.”

“Nonsense!” Powerful Trixie cut in. “It does not matter to Trixie how long we’ve been friends, our bond will still win the day! Now, then, what’s our first question, Great Me?”

Great Trixie looked at the first flash card in her human counterpart’s hands. “Question One. Who is the one stallion...umm, ‘man’ good enough for me in the world? Come on, ladies, I’m waiting for my man!”

Starlight and Sunset looked at each other in terror. Never in a million years did they think they would actually have to think of Trixie’s romantic life. Things were going to get awkward fast, and it felt like the room was getting hotter. Still, Starlight gave it some thought. Great Trixie actually said “the Starlight I love”, which made her think she wasn’t into stallions.

At the same time, Sunset thought about the human Trixie for a little bit. Trixie wasn’t exactly nice to either gender, really, but she seemed really abusive to Snips and Snails. Not only that, but who did she even like in that way? Sunset was the only person she was nice to, and even then, it was only occasionally.

“Nobody?” Sunset and Starlight said at the same time.

Powerful Trixie sighed in defeat. “That obvious? There has been no man good enough for the Great and Powerful Trixie, and there never will be! Unless my other half found some man...or is it a stallion?”

“Nope, I haven’t had much luck either,” Great Trixie admitted. “It’s hard to find a great partner when you’re already so great. I guess we’ll call it a draw.”

“Fine, but we won’t tie forever.” She tossed the card into the trash and pulled out another card. “Oooh, this is a good one. No matter which universe it is, we got our friends out of a tight jam. So who did it better?”

Starlight sighed. “I really don’t want to make comparisons there. You’ve all done so many good things for your friends. But it wouldn’t be a Trixie competition without asking the hard questions, right?”

“Nope,” Sunset laughed softly. “It’s just something you have to roll with. So, Starlight, what would you say Great Trixie has done for you?”

“Well, if it wasn’t for Trixie, I would have been captured by a changeling queen, so…”

“C-Changeling Queen?” Powerful Trixie trembled. “What’s that?”

“Just a bug pony that sucks the love out of ponies for food,” Starlight shrugged. “We took care of her a year ago, but if it wasn’t for my friends, all of Equestria would have been doomed. My friends really came through for me, Trixie included.”

Great Trixie turned and gave her human counterpart a smug grin. “So what have you done lately?”

“Well...if it wasn’t for me...Sunset’s friends would have lost their memories forever, and...and...she would have forgotten her own memories…” Powerful Trixie groaned in defeat. “Fine, you win!”

“Hey, it’s fine,” Sunset cut in. “Even if Powerful Trixie didn’t bail me out of some threat to Equestria, she still saved the day in the end.”

“I’m still counting it a point for me,” Great Trixie grinned.

“But--”

“It’s fine,” Sunset replied. She comforted Starlight with a pat on the back. “There’s still more to this competition before it’s over. Speaking of which, what’s next?”

Powerful Trixie thought about it tapped her foot on the ground. “Do you have a window to Equestria or something?”

------

This contest only getting crazier and crazier by the minute. One moment, Sunset was working on flash cards, and the next thing she knew, she was hauling Powerful Trixie’s carriage to the back of her car and carried an expensive, enchanted mirror in the backseat. At least Powerful Trixie was having a good time, letting her hair whip around in the wind.

They went to a remote location in the forest, one they knew would be empty of tourists. She had Powerful Trixie help her get the carriage into the woods, and they brought out the mirror once they were done. It was hard work, but for the stage magician, it would be worth it.

Within a few minutes, the carriage popped out to reveal a mini stage for Trixie’s performances, complete with a curtain and ramp to the stage. The mirror was placed right on the stage, and Sunset set it up for what they had in mind. They peered into it to make sure it was working.

“Are you sure this is going to work?” Powerful Trixie asked. “I’ve never seen anything like it before.”

“It will. Not many people know about it, but I’ve used it every now and then to look into Equestria, just to make sure everypony back home is fine,” Sunset answered. “Just give it a minute. They’ll let us know when they’re ready.”

Soon enough, the mirror had that familiar green spark wash over its surface. Rather than merely turn into a portal with a smokescreen to it, it would soon provide a glimpse into the world of Equestria, one with a rather familiar view. In fact, Trixie would soon recognize the blue pony on the other side of the portal.

Starlight and Great Trixie had set up a mirror just like theirs back in Equestria, with their own stage set up and everything. The pony Trixie looked back at the mirror to make sure it worked fine, and soon enough, they’d be able to see their human counterparts on the other side.

“I look so adorable as a pony!” Powerful Trixie gasped. “And is that you, Starlight? You’re almost as adorable as her! Hey, wait a minute, you’re both unicorns? Where’s my magic horn? My magic would only get better with real magic!”

“Hold your horses, Trixie. Pardon the pun,” Sunset snorted. “Just like you said, you’ll be able to see each other for the next stage of the competition. We’ll see which one of you is better at stage magic, and knowing what I know, you’ll likely knock it out of the park.”

“Which one?” both Trixies replied.

“You’ll see,” Starlight teased. “Ready to go?”

“I was born ready!” Great Trixie answered.

“How can you be born ready? Were you born with a magic wand in your hand? Either way, I’m ready!” Powerful Trixie snapped.

“Then let the show begin!” Sunset declared. She and Starlight got off the stage in their respective worlds, both of them giving their respective Trixies the stage.

The two Trixies stared each other down Old West style, bracing themselves for the big showdown. Neither one was ready to stand down, and this was going to be an intense fight from beginning to end. Even if it was just for pride, that was enough to make this do or die for the two of them.

After a bell rung from Powerful Trixie’s stage, they immediately went to work on the first act on this leg, throwing a ball of dust into the air to disappear. Powerful Trixie actually vanished off the stage, while Great Trixie was caught running off stage. Point: The human magician.

Next up, there was the classic “put yourself into a box and pretend to saw yourself off” bit. Great Trixie had to use her magic to do the trick, while Powerful Trixie needed Sunset’s help for this. The pony did it with ease, while the human was meeping the whole time.

The box fell off the platform on both sides. In Equestria, realistic looking hooves poked out of the cut half of the box, while the human one did not. However, a bunch of stuffing came out of the box with hooves in it, and the pony squeaked at the realization. Another point to the human overlords.

Great Trixie stomped her hooves in frustration, and decided to come up with the most drastastic thing she could dream up: Tying herself up in a lot of chains and trying to break out of it. She used so many chains that Sunset actually came over to Equestria to make sure she didn’t hurt herself. Powerful Trixie stayed behind in her own world, only coming over if she absolutely had to. Becoming a pony would be rather difficult, after all.

As Sunset and Starlight watched closely, the pony Trixie did the best she could to get out of her chains. She actually did really well for a while, managing to get out of three straps. However, two of them latched onto her hooves, and she couldn’t get out at that point. They only got tighter as she struggled more. Seeing no point in delaying the inevitable, her friends got her out of there.

As she looked down at her chains, she was shellshocked to her core. “But...wait...I’m the Great and Powerful Trixie! How is it that I LOST a stage magic competition?”

“It’s all in the hands!” Powerful Trixie cheered. “Makes sense when you think about it. I have more control over things than you do with your horn. Guess that means we’re all tied up…”

“Then I demand a tiebreaker, and I demand a competition to break it right now!”

Sunset started to grin mischievously. “You know what, I have something in mind. You might say it’s the hardest challenge to date.”

Both Trixies looked at her in fear. “What do you mean?” they said together.

“Oh, you’ll see…”

------

With the help of Sunset and Starlight, both Trixies jumped into the other one’s dimension. Great Trixie had already adjusted to being a human, but Powerful Trixie had to take a moment to adjust to having hooves and a weird tail. She stumbled on her flanks a few times; trying to doing anything with her hooves was a pain in the you-know-what.

Still, after she spent some time adjusting, she got the hang of it. Hooves would never top having hands and feet for her, but her horn was pretty cool. She gazed all around Equestria, adjusting to being in a whole new world, all while Starlight escorted her to Great Trixie’s big stage. Sunset brought her counterpart over to Powerful Trixie’s stage for the next stage.

What they didn’t expect to greet them was a table full of items in front of them. The items in particular were a pencil, book, apple, little things like that. Sunset couldn’t stop giggling at the showdown coming up.

“What is the meaning of this?” Powerful Trixie demanded to know. “How is this going to break our tie?”

“I’m with myself on this one,” Great Trixie puzzled. “It’s just a few small things I get at the store.”

“It’s not just any bundle of items,” Sunset corrected. “You see, when I came to this dimension for the first time, I couldn’t use my hands to pick anything up for a while. However, if you truly want to decide who’s the Greatest and Most Powerful Trixie, you’ll solve that issue.”

“Does...does this mean…” Powerful Trixie thought.

“Yes. Great Trixie, you have to pick up something with your hands,” Starlight explained. “And Powerful Trixie, you have to do the same thing with your hooves. You can’t use your horn whatsoever.”

“But that’s going to be haaaarrrrdddd!” Great Trixie whined.

“If you’re truly great and powerful, it won’t be a problem,” Sunset smirked. “Just give it a try. And besides, if you do this, you’ll win the whole thing.”

That got the attention of both Trixies. Suddenly, they were full of determination as they came up to their respective tables. It was time to prove their superiority, and as stupid as this was, it was going to do the trick for them.

Powerful Trixie brought her forelegs to the table and focused on the pencil. She brought her hooves together and “picked up” the tiny stick of wood. It fell out of her grasp immediately, and she groaned in agony. She tried again, only to have it fall out of her hooves once more.

Meanwhile, Great Trixie couldn’t figure out how hands worked. She was tempted to pick up the apple with her mouth, like she tended to do when her horn didn’t work, but that would be cheating. She extended her arms out and hovered her fingers towards the apple. The apple bounced around in her palm when she tried to pick it up, but her hands never got a good handle. It even fell down to the ground below.

Frustrated beyond belief, Powerful Trixie decided to pick the book up. It was big and heavy, so her hooves would come in handy. Oh, how she wished she had hands right now. She managed to get it to stand on its spine, but when she tried picking it up from there, her hooves actually broke the book in half.

Great Trixie saw that, and she knew that was her chance to make a move. There was a ball on her table, and that had to be easy to pick up compared to everything else. Instead, it fell out of her hands time and time again, and it even bounced off the table to hit her in the face.

“WHY IS THIS SO HARD?” they complained at the same time.

Starlight and Sunset burst out laughing at the same time. It was building up the whole time, and now they couldn’t take it anymore. Starlight even fell on her flanks with all this laughter. Both Trixies grumbled and went back to work.

And then they took turns breaking a pencil in half.

And the table crashed right with it.

And the apple was smashed into a rotten pile of smush.

“I can’t do this!” Great Trixie cried out.

“Neither can I! And I’m Trixie! Nobody can do it if I can’t!” Powerful Trixie agreed.

“So...is that a tie?” Sunset inquired.

“I think so,” Starlight nodded. “Congrats, Trixies, you’re both Great and Powerful!”

The Trixies looked at each other in confusion. “We are?”

“Of course you are,” said Starlight. She grabbed Powerful Trixie by the hand and took her through the portal, so they were one big group again in the human world. “How do you two feel about that?”

“I just...really wanted to feel like the best, I guess,” Great Trixie admitted. “I helped defeat a changeling queen, after all.”

“And I saved Sunset’s social life from certain doom,” said Powerful Trixie. “Doesn’t that count for something?”

“Why wouldn’t it?” Sunset pointed out. “No matter which one of you won, it wasn’t going to negate what you’ve done. For both of us.”

“Couldn’t have said it better,” Starlight agreed.

Hearing that, the two blue skinned humans looked at each other, not sure what to do at that point. Powerful Trixie, however, offered her hand to her twin to concede the tie. Great Trixie, still not used to hands, slowly stuck her hand out to figure out how they worked. Powerful Trixie smiled and took her hand in for the proper handshake.

“Friends?” asked Powerful Trixie.

“Friends,” her pony counterpart offered. “I guess I am pretty great, no matter where I come from. Only thing is, what do we do now?”

“Hmm...what about that Equestria world you come from? What’s it like?”

------

“Wow, it’s spectacular!” Powerful Trixie gasped. “It’s just like a whole town in the middle ages, except it’s not crawling with diseases and death!”

The two Trixies were taking a look around in Ponyville’s streets, and while the Trixie from the human world still didn’t understand hooves, she understood a good town when she saw one. She rolled around the streets and hills, seeing everything there was to a world full of pastel colored horses. All the lack of wheels sure helped, too.

“Just wait until you see my favorite pastime: Annoying Princess Twilight Sparkle!” Great Trixie cheered.

“She’s a princess here? Oooh, now I have to pick at her!”

The two new friends galloped down the path to Twilight’s castle, eager for more hijinks. Starlight and Sunset, meanwhile, just sat back and let the fireworks unfold. “Wait, won’t Twilight freak out if she sees two Trixies out of nowhere?” Sunset pondered.

“We’ll just say one of them is a reformed changeling,” Starlight waved it off. “So, what did you think? Wasn’t that a good time or what?”

“It went a lot better than I expected. I expected a total trainwreck and another end-of-the-world disaster, but no, they did just fine when they got to know each other. Just...I’ll be around if you need to explain what’s going on to Twilight.”

“I don’t think that will be necessary. Still, I’m glad you have a good friend where you’re from. Trixie was the friend I needed when I was still getting the hang of friendship, and it sounds like she came through for you, too.”

“Absolutely. I don’t even want to think about what would have happened if she didn’t get me out of that locked room when I needed to stop Wallflower Blush. But that’s enough thinking about the past for one day. Why don’t we just have some fun with our friends?”

“Sounds like something I could use. I’ll buy some ice cream while you’re here.”

“Deal.”

And so they went on their way, making sure their Trixie friends wouldn’t get in trouble while there were two of them running around town. Well, no more trouble than a normally Great and Powerful day. No matter what future messes they would get into, at least they would have a friend to help them out along the way.
