Yourself. > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sitting up from her studies' chair Twilight sighed in annoyance, peering down at all the wasted ink and parchment lying around her already cluttered desk. She had the liberty of writing an essay on Canterlot's "way of living", assigned by one of the higher-ups in the board of Equestria. Seeing as how she grew up in the rather large city one would think something like this would be easy and it would be, if her brain would just co-operate with her. "Ugh.. Work with me would you?" Twilight asked, poking her head as if she was poking her brain with a hoof. With another sigh Twilight turned around and walked over to her couch, setting herself down on the soft cushion where her and Rainbow would be not to long from now. At least she hoped anyway. Twilight started to fidget around worryingly as her brain conjured up reasons as to why Rainbow would have missed two weeks worth of Daring Do nights, without giving her any warning at all! Come to think of it Twilight hadn't even notice her prismatic friend waking, even flying at all around Ponyville these last few weeks. When usually Rainbow could be seen whizzing past laughing as she went rather insanely dangerous high speeds. Did she hurt herself in any way? Did she not enjoy there Daring Do nights anymore? Did she not want to hang out with her anymore? Did she not want to be her friend anymore? Twilight audibly gasped to herself at that last thought. Would Rainbow not want to be her friend anymore? "She's probably just forgotten.. Right?" Then Twilight got one of her brilliant idea's. Instead of Rainbow coming here, why didn't she just go to Rainbow? That way she would have an excuse to see if Rainbow was alright and read books at the same time! Looking up Twilight tried her best to look at her brain, scowling at it. "Oh, so you work now?" Sitting up she walked to the bookstand to pick up some Daring Do along with her saddlebags before quickly trotting out her front door, taking flight toward Rainbows house. The fly to Rainbow's was always a tiring one for Twilight. Even though she got these fancy wings of hers a time ago, flying was something she still just didn't do very often, at least alone that is. Rainbow had taught her the basics when she first got them and her lessons helped a lot when it came to getting the vertical flapping motion right. Twilight blushed as she remembered how much Rainbow had to touch and feel her wings to help get the motion down pat. Quickly dismissing those thoughts from her apparently once again not working brain Twilight saw she was closer than she thought to her destination. Landing quietly on the cloud steps leading up to her cyan friends front door Twilight adjusted her saddlebags with her magic, making sure they were just right before knocking on the white blockade. Smiling to herself, she heard the sound reverberate through Rainbow's cloud house. Clouds would always fascinate her no matter how long she chose to study them. Rainbow groaned in annoyance as she rudely got woken up from the nightmare she was having. That nightmare was, believe it or not, one of the best dreams she's had since she took on this shroud of darkness. If only she had the power of healing or time travel, instead of stupid loyalty. What has this so called "element of loyalty" ever done for her? Opening her sleep crusted eyes Rainbow sat up onto her haunches, her bones popping as she stretched her back and wings in a downward arch. Glancing back out of the corner of her eye she looked at her outstretched wings in a mix of anger, hate and sadness. Quickly shutting her eyes she turned away from her two devils she had the burden of now carrying, wiping her eyes with a fore hoof. She didn't want whoever was knocking on her door to hear her cry. Hopping off her unmade bed she headed down the stairs towards her front door, completely ignoring her already ravished mane and rancid body odor that even her single bottle of perfume would plug up for. "Who.. Who is it?" Rainbow asked letting her head fall against the door with a quiet poomf, trying to wake herself up so she could tell whoever's familiar voice it was to just leave her alone. "Its.. Rainbow? Its me.." Twilight stated, stepping closer to the door in an attempt to make her voice louder. "Twilight Sparkle? Lives in the library not 5 minutes away from you? Rainbow are you okay..?" Rainbow's eyes slowly opened as she pulled her head away from the cloud door, Twilights voice going muffled as her thoughts engulfed her senses. What was Twilight doing here? Of course she knew one of her friend would check up on her eventually, but she thought it would have been Flutter Shy or somehow Pinkie Pie, not Twilight. Then it hit her. Rainbow kicked her floor in annoyance as she remembered her and Twilight's reading nights they were supposed to be having for the past two weeks. "Stupid!" Rainbow huffed to herself in anger at how dumb she was before lifting the lock to her door and opening it with a twist, revealing the purple alicorn. "Hey Twi.." Rainbow said in a melancholy tone, Squinting from the sunlight before turning around to head back inside her humble abode. She didn't bother to close her door because she knew it was going to take a while for Twilight to process what she just saw before coming in. Twilight stood in front of Rainbow's wide open doorway in shock, still trying to comprehend what she had just witnessed. Rainbow looked and smelled like she just came out of hibernation for 3 years and it violently shook Twilight to her core. Something was definitely not alright. "Just take it slow, and everything will be fine.." Snapping herself back into reality Twilight quickly walked in, instinctively closing the door behind her. Though she was instantly hit with complete darkness as the door shut completely, making her only source of light disappear. Lighting her horn for a source of purple light she looked around inside Rainbow's home and gasped. Cups and plates lay littered on Rainbow's coffee tables and stands while wrappers lay dormant on the ground around them, blinds remain closed in order to make it as dark as possible, blankets lay silent on her couch like she slept there once recently. It was a complete and utter mess. Turning around with now high anxiety, Twilight jumped with a yelp as she came face to face with Rainbow. "GAHH!" Twilight yelped taking a couple steps back from her very smelly friend. Twilight didn't want to be rude, but whatever Rainbow was going through, she could still touch water right? Regaining herself Twilight looked long and hard into Rainbow's eyes through her purple lantern before she regretfully spoke her mind. "Why?" Twilight dumbly asked, mentally kicking herself for saying that out loud. "Why what..? Rainbow asked with a hint of anger in her voice. This was not why she let Twilight in. To have to spill her guts out, to cry in front of her because Twilight just couldn't help herself from asking what's wrong. Stupid... "Well. Why THIS." Twilight gestured with her foreleg at Rainbow's mane and cluttered house, dismissing her friends somewhat angry tone. She definitely didn't mean to kick the conversation off like this, but walking into one of your best friends houses and seeing it all dirty and untended to made Twilight's brain work overdrive, so things were bound to slip. Twilight turned and walked away from the Pegasus and headed into Rainbow's dish filled living room. Never in a million years would Twilight think of something like this happening to Rainbow Dash of all ponies. Rainbow sighed in annoyance. She never should've gotten out of bed today. She should have just ignored the door. She should of just went back to bed, get swallowed into the sadness that she once called dreams."Well." she said copying her friend. "I haven't gotten around to cleaning it yet." Rainbow walked towards Twilight with heavy hooves. "What does it even matter to you anyways?" Rainbow snarked back. Twilight was taken aback by Rainbow's power and choice of words, sure that was a little redundant now considering what she just said, but coming from Rainbow of all ponies? The element of loyalty? "Dash I.. I'm not here to judge your living style, but thi-" Twilight's shaky voice immediately got cut off as Rainbow angrily took over. "THEN WHY ARE YOU HERE, HUH?" Rainbow yelled, gaining ground on her purple friend, but stopping as she saw Twilights shaking form looking up from almost now directly below her. "J-just please!" Rainbow looked down at Twilight with teary eyes and pleaded. "L-leave me alone... I don't want to cry anymore Twi.. So JUST. LEAVE!" Rainbow yelled stomping her hoof next to Twilight, making little clouds pop off her floor and float away. Her rollercoaster of emotions was burning hot, crashing down fast and she wanted.. No, needed it to stop. Twilight just needed to stop. Standing up from her cowering position that was practically right underneath Rainbow's defence stance, Twilight looked with tear filled, wide eyes directly into Rainbow's own. In all of her years of being this ponies friend, never EVER has she seen her like this and Twilight couldn't cower idly by while Rainbow not only mentally hurt herself, but eventually physically began to hurt herself. As much as Twilight wanted to stay down below Rainbow and let her vent the pent up anger out on her, Twilight knew Rainbow needed something more. Something that she probably hasn't felt in far too long. Friendship.. Support.. Love. Without giving Dash any warning Twilight lunged forward at full speed, tackling the cyan pony to her soft floor. Instantly her forelegs were around Rainbow's neck, her large purple wings extending around Rainbow's barrel in the tightest wing hug she could muster and at this moment in time, it was very tight. This is what Rainbow needed. What they BOTH needed. "Dashie." Twilight said with a muffled voice from the hug she was currently giving. "Y-you're not going to push me away! You WONT push me away! You know why?" Pulling away Twilight looked into Rainbow's tear filled eyes for the last time. "Because I'm your friend and friends don't leave other friends in pain like this! So I'm going to show you. I'm going to show you who you are again, no matter how long it takes me." De-railed. Throwing herself back into Twilight's grasp, Rainbow began to ball her eyes out. Cries of anger, sadness, regret and hate all flowing out of her in one big wave that would drown even the most buoyant of objects. Pulling Twilight into her body, as Twilight was doing to her, with the two demons strapped onto her back Rainbow sat and cried, cuddled up to her friend in the middle of the floor for what felt like hours. She cried cuddling up to her friend like foal to a mom and she didn't even care. She didn't care because she knew that Twilight wasn't here to judge her or hurt her.. She was here to help her.
