I was in a canyon I know this because of reasons. I believe the canyon I'm in is that one with the important goblet near Griffin Stone. I then open my eyes and saw the night sky. "How beautiful as the night always is," I said but instead of my usual somewhat deep male voice I heard a slight buzzed toned female voice. After that, I sat up slowly and looked at my hands. They were covered in black chitin. I stood up and snapped with my right hand and a body sized mirror appeared before me. Don't ask me how because I don't know.

Turns out I am an anthro changeling queen without a crown. I have a black mane and tail the same shade as my chitin that has the same hairdo as Chrysalis with red draconic eyes and no horn as well as insect wings with holes. Also, I seem to have a very attractive, thin, and athletic figure. I am also covered with grey pants, shirt, and jacket, so I'm decent thank you very much.

I looked up and decided to try and learn to fly.


1 Hour Later


It took an hour but at least I can fly, oh and remember that goblet, I put in the ruins of the castle that's in Griffin Stone after taking it out with me. After that I got a knife out got some cake batter in a bowl and cut myself, then I let my blood taint the cake batter, mixed it up and made a cake with it. All on a carpet large enough to hold twenty ponies flying me to the Everfree Forest. Wait, when did I get on a carpet? I asked myself while eating my cake. And how did I make this cake so quickly?







After an hour flight with chocolate blood cake I arrived at my destination and what I saw was not surprising. There was a manticore chasing anthro versions of the CMC, Babs Seed, and Spike the dragon. So I tried my hand at shapeshifting, I turned into a pegasus pony with a black coat, black mane, and tail, red eyes, and I am wearing the same clothes I was wearing in my changeling form, which in case you forgot was a pair of pants, a shirt, and a jacket, all of it grey. 

A grey metal sword appeared in my right hand in a flash of black, I then jumped off the carpet, which disappeared to where ever it came from and landed in front of the manticore.
THUMP. "You should not be chasing children, shame on you," I said with a clearly annoyed tone. My sword turned into a cane and I smack the manticore on the head with it when I landed in case you were wondering.

The manticore whimpered as a response. "But I've been starving for the past week, what am I supposed to, just let myself die?" 

"Of course not, you need to ask a pony to help or try hunt different creatures that don't talk like ponies for example," was my response, not even reacting that he could talk. "Also here it should fill you up pretty good," I snapped while saying this making a large steak appeared almost as big as the manticore, who adopted a look of joy at seeing it.

When I turned around I noticed they were slack-jawed. "If I were you I would close my mouth before fly's get in there," I said with an amused tone. After I said that the three shook themselves out of the daze and I got a good look on what they look like. Like I said before their anthro, the CMC are wearing their Equestria Girls clothing while Babs Seed is wearing a jacket over a white shirt along with a light black skirt and Spike is wearing a purple jacket over a green shirt and purple pants.

Before anyone spoke I said, "Before we do anything I believe we should talk outside the Everfree."


After Leaving The Everfree Forest


We were walking down the road and pasted Fluttershy's cottage before anyone decided to speak. "Where did you come from, you kinda just appeared out of nowhere," Spike said. My response was "Simple I jumped off a magic carpet that brought me here." And then an anvil fell on my head, I for some reason didn't flinch at that and instead just stopped moving forward. When the anvil hit my head the five did a sound of surprise.

"Oops sorry," said a rather cute voice. I looked up, making the anvil fall to the ground from its perch on my head, and responded with, "It's fine no one got hurt, right kids." The five responded with a combined "Yep." After actually looking I noticed it's Derpy Hooves, Ponyvilles mail mare, wearing a typical mail person outfit. "Okay then, have a nice day," she said. "You as well," I said this while giving the anvil to her since it was obviously her that dropped it, so she must have been in the middle of mailing it to someone.

"Now where were we again?" I asked the kids. "Yall said something about jumping off a magic carpet," Apple Bloom helpfully reminded me. "Right, well that was about it. Oh, how silly of me, I forgot to introduce myself. My name is Shade, Shade Reality Mirror."

"Nice to meet you, my names Sweetie Bell," said, obviously, Sweetie Bell. 

"Ma names Apple Bloom, nice to meet ya," said, again obviously, Apple Bloom. 

"Names Scootaloo, it's good to meet ya," said, do I have to say this, Scootaloo.

"And we're the Cutie Mark Crusaders!!!" they yelled simultaneously. 

After recovering from the yell, the well-known dragon said, "The names Spike, it a pleasure to meet you." 

"And my names Babs Seed, it great to meet you," said you know who while giving me a handshake.

"Very nice to meet you all, now why exactly were you all running from a Manticore of all things?" I asked the five children. Spike was the one to answer this question, "We lost a ball we were playing within the forest." I reached behind my back and pulled out a red ball out of nowhere, "Do you, by any chance, mean this ball," I asked. "Yea where did you find it," asked Babs in a surprised tone.

"I just found it during our little walk out of the forest," was my answer while I was giving the ball to Scootaloo. "Now I need to get going, next time maybe you shouldn't play too close to the forest," I suggested to them and walked off after saying goodbye.

After walking for about fifteen minutes I arrived at the edge of Ponyville. While I was walking I was listening to, in my point of view, a pretty good song called Entropy.


When I got to the town square I heard a long gasp, when I turned around I saw the one and only Pinkie Pie. Next thing I knew she was right in front of me and said in hyperspeed without pausing, "Hi my name is Pinkie Pie, what's yours, whats your favorite flavor of cake, what's your favorite color, and do you like parties?" 

After she said that I responded in the same speed she spoke with, "Hello Pinkie my name is Shade, my favorite flavor is chocolate, my favorite colors are grey, black, and dark red, as in really dark red, and yes I like parties."

When I looked behind Pinkie Pie I saw that the other Elements of Harmony were there as well with slack-jawed expressions, probably by how fast I can talk. "Hello, how are you?" I said after snapping, which made their shock go away. 

"Oh well we're fine, but I am surprised you can keep up with Pinkie Pie of all ponies," Twilight responded who is an alicorn, huh good to know. "Oh trust me I don't make sense a lot of the time," I said behind them, surprising all of them.

"How did ya do that," asked Applejack. 

I gasped "Oh how rude of me I forgot to introduce myself, my name's Shade, what's yours other than Pinkie since I already know her from our conversation earlier." After they five out of six introduced themselves a boulder fell on me. The six gasped and Derpy yelled from up above "Sorry again." I simply walked out of the boulder like it was air making the six sigh in relief and gasp again when the info reached their heads. To be honest, their fear and surprise taste kinda good.

"Helloooo are you alright?" I asked. The six shook themselves out of the daze while I was putting the boulder back in the bag that Derpy was holding it with. "Do you need any help with that?" I asked her. She responded with "No, but thanks for the offer." 

"How did you walk through that boulder like it wasn't there!" Twilight demanded after I turned back to the six. My response was stupid but true, "I just did it."

"That doesn't exactly answer it ya know," said Rainbow.

"Oh Dash, it's the only way I can explain it. It's one of my talents to be ghostly," was my response. Then something strange happened. My neck snapped by jerking it to the right and then I giggled and laughed the way a psycho does and my neck jerked again and I was back to normal. "Well that was slightly strange of me, sorry if I startled any of you," I said.

When all I got was silence I said, "I should probably get going now...bye." I walked down the road and pulled out a book. The book was an average one titled 'How To Do Something.' I opened it and said, "How to purchase a house please." And the blank pages were then covered with gibberish to others but to me, it just said 'Go to town hall and talk to the secretary, she will help you with the process and explain it.'

After I read that I closed the book and watched it as it faded from reality. Luckily I was already heading for town hall so I went in, walked to the desk and waited until the secretary noticed me who was a tan-coated pegasus mare with a dark blue mane and tail along with sea green eyes, she is also wearing a blue suit, black pants and a white tie which is a unique outfit in my point of view. "Oh sorry I was caught up in my work, how can I help you?"

"Well I was hoping that you could help me with getting a house or just some property to own since I'm new in town and was hoping to live here," was my response. 

Her reaction was, "Oh well there currently aren't any houses sadly but we have some property nearby the Everfree Forest, are you interested by any chance?"

"Yes I am very interested, also I am not familiar with this so can you explain how this works for me," was what I said. 

"Oh, well you just need to pay for the property or house and sign a few papers along with filling the blanks so we can basically get the jazz of who you are," was her response to my question while giving me a small stack of papers.

"Also the property will be two hundred bits," she added. I gave her a bag of bits with the right amount of them inside while I am signing the papers after reading them. Since paperwork is always boring I'll just give you what I put in for the info. 

I am currently twenty-two years old, my birthplace was in Griffin Stone (Which is technically true to so shush), I have no living relatives as far as I know, and my talent is mirroring someone's actions and character.

"Now just let me look over the papers and we will continue the process," she said after I gave her back the papers. When she saw the part of relatives she got sad and said she was sorry for my lost and I said it was a long time ago so it's okay. She was also intrigued about the part of coming from Griffin Stone, I could tell because I sense emotions and surprise tastes sweet. "Okay so now that that's done, the property is fenced off and is across from Fluttershy's cottage by the edge of the Everfree, have a nice day," is what came out of her mouth after she read through all the papers.

"Okay, thank you, and you have a nice day as well," I responded.


After Walking Back To The Edge Of The Everfree Forest


When I got back I saw the fenced off area to my right with a mailbox by a gate in the middle of the fence facing Fluttershy's. How did I not notice that earlier?I asked in my head. "Right now is there anyone within eyesight?" I asked my self out loud. After doing a magic pulse I found out that no one is anywhere near here at the moment. "Good now for the house," I said in a happy tone. 

After snapping my right hand a dark themed house appeared in a flash of black, it has the same shape as Fluttershy's cottage but darker and red flowers along with some poison joke by the fences. It also has an aura that says to not enter or there would be consequences to others but not to me unless I invite someone in. After I did that I sighed at how good my work looks, at least to me. "Now to the inside I go," I said in a sing-song voice.


To The Girls In Third Person


"Twi are ya alright," AJ asked Twilight. 

"Yea I'm fine AJ, It's just that I can't get that pony out of my head," was her response.

"I know what you mean Twi, she was very strange and didn't make a lot of sense," joined in Rainbow Dash.

"I can't either she just seems so strange and she kinda scared me when she laughed like that," Fluttershy brought in the conversation.

"I agree," said Rarity along with Pinkie. The girls were walking back from the train station after a trip from Manehattan when they encountered the anomaly known as Shade.

Pinkie gasped out of know where. "What's wrong Pinkie dear?" asked Rarity. "I forgot I need to plan her 'Welcome To Ponyville' party and she has already moved into a house, sorry gotta go," was Pinkie's response, going really fast at the end. The remaining five just shook their heads and said: "Just Pinkie being Pinkie."


Back To Me


"Well, now that I'm done with the inside what should I do," I asked myself. Perhaps take a walk and see what happens. "Good idea Van," I replied to the Author that is me. (It's a self-insert so it's obviously me that was talking.)

I was walking down the road listening to Animalistic by Creep-P.

When the song ended I found myself in front of Sugurcube Corner and after checking with my magic the building was full of ponies and they seemed to be hiding. I looked at the sky and found it's actually almost sundown. Then Pinkie showed up behind me and said, "Hi Shade I have a surprise for you, come on hurry." I decided to play clueless and said okay then followed her inside.

And guess what, the lights turned on and the entire town jumped out of their hiding place yelling, "Surprise!" I was slightly startled at how loud their yells combined did so I jumped a bit, to be honest. "Were ya surprised were ya were ya?" asked Pinkie in an excited tone. My response was, "Yes I was in fact very surprised, but mostly by how loud you were all together, anyways whats the occasion?"

Before Pinkie could say what it was Apple Bloom beat her to the punch, "It's your 'Thank You For Saving The CMC, Babs Seed, And Spike From A Manticore' party as well as your 'Welcome To Ponyville' party Miss Mirror."

"Thank you, Apple Bloom, by the way how are you and the others doing right now?" I asked her. "Just fine, thank ya for asking Miss Mirror," was her response.

"Alrighty then now isn't this a party." At everypony and one dragon nodding, I then said, "Then lets party!" Everyone cheered and started to party. And guessed who came to talk to me....no seriously guess. It's the Mane Six. "Hello, how are you six after this fine day?" I asked while snapping my hand to see what episode was the most recent. Huh The Saddle Row Review, now I know that I don't have to worry about Tirek getting my magic.

"We are fine dear after our little event at Manehatten at least," was Rarity's response. 

"Aw yes you opened your store there am I correct?" I asked.

"Yep, how did ya know sugar cube?" said AJ.

"I was in town when I heard about it," was my answer while eating a cupcake. "These are really good," I commented.

"Thanks, I made them myself," said Pinkie with pride in her voice. Pride doesn't taste that good to me buts it's not that bad.

"So where are you from?" asked Twilight.

"I have been a gypsy for the past six years, please elaborate," was my response.

"Where did you last live," Rainbow offered. "Oh Griffin Stone," was what I said.

"Oh that's pretty far from here," said Fluttershy."I know but I try my best to stay away from there, it brings very sad memories," I said back. "Hey, you know what sounds great right now?"

"What?" the girls asked. "Singing a love song," I answered. Pinkie gasped. "Let me go talk to Vinyl, be right back," she said before dashing off. I then said after a moment, "Well-" but I got interrupted by Pinkie, "She's okay with it come on," she said rather quickly before dragging me to the DJ set and gave me a microphone.  "Break a leg," Pinkie then said and dashed back to the girls.

I was now the center of attention. "Hello everyone, my name is Shade and since I felt like it, with Vinyl's permission, I am going to sing a song for everyone," I said after a moment or two. Everyone cheered. "So let's get this started.

I was working on the set like an expert making the music sound perfect and I was doing it with one hand and singing all the lyrics to the T. A certain married couple known as the Cakes were dancing together to the song and most ponies were dancing independently. I might need to change that, I thought.

When I was done everyone was clapping and cheering at how good it was. "Nice job you should consider the music business some time," said Vinyl which was wearing her trademark glasses along with the outfit you see her in Equestria Girls. "Oh I'm a jack of all trades, but I'll consider it," I said back. After giving her back the floor I went back to the back where I was before, at the back where the food and drinks are. And when I got there the six, CMC, Babs, and Spike were there. "Darling that was beautiful how ever did you learn to do it," said Rarity with a tone of admiration. "I say it was my cutie mark, after all, it represents my ability to copy anyone which means I need to be a master of all in order to so," was my answer. 
"Love songs aren't my thing but that was pretty good, nice job," joined Rainbow.

"Yea it was pretty good Miss Mirror," said Apple Bloom. "Thank you, also please just call me Shade 'miss' makes me feel old," I replied to Apple Bloom.


After The Party


I was walking home with Fluttershy since we're neighbors and she doesn't like walking home in the dark. "The party was kinda fun, what do you think Fluttershy," I asked her.

"It was nice as Pinkie's parties always are," was her answer. Then there was silence for the rest of the walk. "Oh we're here, it was nice getting to know you Fluttershy, have a good night," I said to her after we stopped in between my house and hers.

"You as well Shade," she replied.

I walked into my house and after I closed the door I went back to my real form, Hello miss changeling queen how are you I thought in a joking tone. I looked in the mirror in my room after walking past the living room and up the stairs. I looked the same as last time although I don't remember that crown being there. "Me, why is there a crown on my head," I asked the Author that is me. It's a natural grown crown symbolizing that your a queen....it also means your going to start having drones soon.


At Cantarlot


"WHAAAAAT!!!!????" Shade yelled scaring the night court. "What was that?" asked a female noble.
"It must be someone having a bad night is all, carry on miss," was Princess Luna's response to the noble.


Back To Me


I was pacing back and fourth in front of my bed unable to sleep. "I know just cast a sleep spell to put me to sleep, yeah it should work, it must work," I said in a panicked tone. So I went to bed in red pajamas and used the spell without snapping my hand, which is harder mind you, and I went to sleep at last.

In The Dream Realm


After I went to sleep I found myself in a starry void. "Too empty," I commented. Then the scene changed to my home in Equestria. I walked outside to see the Tantabus, anthro obviously, terrorizing Ponyville. "Huh and I thought it was just me doing something about my dream," I said calmly as my reaction.


After Walking To Dream Ponyville


When I made it to Ponyville after turning to my pony persona I saw an anthro version of that one episode with the Tantabus except with alicorn Twilight along with the crystal castle she lives in. "Please explain what's going on," I said to Fluttershy when I found her.

"Princess Luna has been tormenting herself with something called the Tantabus, a being made to give nightmares to anyone it has contact with," was her response. I sighed.

Now I just let it go the way the episode went basically along with helping closing the tear with just snapping my right hand. Except when Luna tried getting rid of the Tantabus there was an explosion instead and it was launched into me. "Ouch," I said after getting up. I altered everyone's memory so it looked like the Tantabus was merged into Luna since I don't want anyone going in a panic because they don't know where it went.

"Well have a good night everyone," I said before disconnecting from Luna's grip on my dream. And I have found myself back at the red void...."I'm going back," I said. After going back I said, "Never mind." Luna is looking at me in surprise, probably because I was able to cut off of her grip on my dream. "To the Everfree Forest I go," I said in a little tune.


After Walk To The Dream Everfree Forest


I walked into the Everfree humming a song called Discord(Swing Jazz Vocal Mix). 

Until Luna walked from behind a tree. "Oh hello Princess Luna," I said while bowing to her. "Rise little pony," she said, with me doing as she said. "So how can I help you on this sunny day," when I said that it was suddenly daytime. After a moment she shook her head and said, "I would like to know how you were able to be cut off from the dream, along with how you made it suddenly daytime." It took me a second to think up an explanation other than that's it's because of the Tantabus and it was, "I do not know princess, I just do it somehow."

Then we heard someone groaning and when we looked, it was Starlight Glimmer. "Ouch, what happened?" she asked after getting up.

"Nice hat and I have no idea what happened to you, but their was the whole deal with the Tantabus and everything," was my response. "Oh yeah Princess Luna did mentioned it to the girls earlier," she said. "Yes now I must get going, there are nightmares I must deal with," Princess Luna said kinda slowly and after she said that I was back in that stupid starry void. "I wonder, can I visit another's dream after all I did travel between my dream and the combined dream Ponyville was having," I said to myself out loud.

So I went and tried going to Pinkie's dream. I found a candy wonderland with everyone having their favorite treats all happy and such. "Hi Shade how are ya?" Pinkie appeared into my vision saying this, not even making me flinch. "I am fine Pinkie, wait what's going on?" I asked her since the scene was going grey and ponies were getting sad. "Oh no, don't be sad everyone, I've got just the treat," Pinkie said in a worried tone. I got a headache and gripped my head with one hand. Somehow the Elements showed up in the dream  and replaced their dream construct selves.

"What's going on?" asked Twilight.

"Hey what gives I was kicking evil changeling butt and now I'm here?" complained Rainbow.

"I was just making the most beautiful dress and now I'm here?" complained Rarity. Then the scene changed and we were in front of Canterlot High. "How did we get here?" asked Twilight in surprise. And now I replaced the statue but I'm still next to Pinkie. Now the other me turned to an inverted color version of me, white coat, white mane and tail, blue eyes, and grey clothes still, and started playing a familiar song I listened to a lot.


While the song was playing, things appeared according to what the other me said, except the rape luckily. After the song was over, me and the girls turned into the equestria girls versions of ourselves.

Everyone except me and Twilight freaked out for a second or two. After they were done with their freak out Twilight started to access the situation."Okay so we're in the human world somehow-" Before she said anything else I held up my hand and her mouth vanished. "And this is all a combined dream, there's a simple solution to this," I lowered my hand, making Twilight have a mouth again, after saying that.

"How did ya do that?" asked Applejack. "Unknown," was my answer. "Anyways the answer to this is walk through the statue, bu bye," I finished and walked through the statue like I said and found myself in Equis as myself. Then I woke up.


In The Waking World


I woke up in bed as my real self, my changeling form in red pajamas, and I got ready for the day ahead. First I took a shower. Second I changed to my regular grey clothes but I decided to wear blue instead. Third I took my pony form and brushed my teeth. Then finally I had breakfast, which was some apples with orange juice. 

After that was all done I checked the time and found it to be seven o'clock. Old habits die hard I thought. "Hey me, when exactly am I going to have drones as you say," I asked me. You didn't let me finish last time, you only have drones when you want drones or if you have children the way most beings have was the other me's response. I blushed hard at the last part because he meant you know what. I looked in the mail box and I found two letters. After I went inside and sat at my couch in front of the fireplace, I opened the one with the seal of three butterflies since it must be from Fluttershy.



Dear Shade Mirror,
I am hoping you might make it to a some tea time at my home with Discord.
Please don't freak out that Discord has tea with me every now and then. Also, the event will be at this Friday, sorry for such short notice.

Hello dear I was hoping that you could come with me and Fluttershy to the spa today, sorry for the short notice, and we will be there waiting for you around noon and I will understand if you are unable to come along.

I think going to the spa would be nice I thought. So I decided to take a walk through the Everfree to kill time after sending letters to Fluttershy and Rarity that I will be available for the spa and tea time.

In The Everfree Forest


I have been walking for the past three minutes following this trail I found and I found a clearing full of poison joke. "I always do love how these things do their jokes on those who touch them, but hey all they want is a laugh," I said with a smile on my face. I heard a branch break and quickly turned around and found not one but two packs of timberwolves.

I raised an eyebrow at that, "Really," was my reaction to this situation. I then sighed and pulled out a dark grey sword with a black aura and red handle from behind my back. My neck jerked to the right making a snapping bone sound. Then I said in a distorted voice filled with glee, "This is going to be fun."

After that one of the wolves pounced at me. I sliced it doing a swipe from the right to the left in an upward motion. It broke apart and my sword absorbed the magic that makes it rebuild itself. The rest hesitated for a moment before surrounding me, then after a moment, they all pounced right at me in unison. What I did was simple but effective. I spun with the sword in my hand held out, breaking them all apart and absorbing their magic. Then my blade faded from existence once I was sure there were no more threats.

I turned around and saw Pinkie and Rainbow Dash looking at me in surprise. I raised an eyebrow and checked my watch and it was 11:25 which means I need to get going if I want to make it to the spa on time. "I need to get going and something tells me you were going to prank me, which is fine but now I'm expecting it so it will fail probably, now bye," I said to the two shocked ponies. I wonder if I have that rebuilding ability now I thought.


After Walk Back To Ponyville


After walking back to Ponyville I just remembered that I don't know where the spa was. I asked Bon Bon if she could tell where it is and her response was. "Oh it's down the road to the right, you shouldn't miss it." So I followed her directions to it and found it right away with Rarity and Fluttershy waiting.

I checked my watch and found I was one minute early. "Hey you two," I said startling them when I came in.
"Oh Shade I almost thought you couldn't make it," Rarity said after recovering from the scare I gave them. "I always try to make it when I'm available," I said back to her.

"You appointment is ready dears," said Aloe I believe it is. "Thank you, Aloe," said Rarity, I guessed her name correctly yay. 

We followed her into the steam room after being changed in robes with towels covering our manes. "So how does this usually go?" I asked the girls.

"Well first we used the steam room for about four minutes, then we do the mud bath, then we get massages, and after all that, we get our hooves filed and horn for Rarity's case," Fluttershy's enlightened me with this. "You wouldn't mind if I sing a song right?" I asked the three other occupants in the room.

"I wouldn't mind," replied Lotus I believe her name was. "I wouldn't mind either," said Fluttershy.

"I would be fine with it after all your voice is dazzling when you sing," commented Rarity.

"Okay then," I said, happy that their fine with it.


When I was done the other three were clapping at my performance. "That was brilliant," exclaimed Lotus. I blushed a little at the compliment but said thank you anyways. After that, we just talked for a bit until we went to the next relaxing activity.


After Steam Room


After the steam room, we went to the mud bath with different robes that are enchanted to not get dirty after this and we don't have the towels covering our manes. "Shade I have a question," said Fluttershy. "Sure what's the question?"
I asked her. "What's your opinion of spiders?" as soon as those words left her mouth my neck did the jerk again and I said with a very scared voice, "I am terrified of them, I would rather go through two hundred bloodthirsty, feral dragons that lost their sanity than be near one spider." Then my neck jerked again and I was myself. I coughed and said, "I'm terrified of them."

"How about snakes?" asked Rarity. My neck jerked yet again and I said in a joyful voice, "Oh they're adorable in my point of view, in fact, I keep a basilisk in the basement as my pet, me and her get along very well." After that I was back to normal when I jerked my neck yet again. "Cheese and crackers that doesn't happen often," I commented. 

Fluttershy was holding a face of extreme surprise and she said with a stutter of fear, "A-a-a b-b-b-basilisk?"

"Yes is there a problem?" I asked her. She responded quickly, "Oh no no it's just that a basilisk is very dangerous since if you look at them in the eye you usually die and if you look at its reflection then you are paralyzed until your given a cure for it." After I was done processing what she said I replied with, "Oh that, well I have an immunity to most things like poison or harmful magic such as a basilisk's ability to kill by just looking at its eyes and such." After that, we just talked about our likes and dislikes.


After Mud Bath


We are now laying on our stomachs on top of tables getting massages from some staff of the spa. Nothing happened during this so let us skip to the filing hooves and one unicorn's horn.


After Massages


Me and the other two were having our hooves, and horn for Rarity's case, filed while sitting in some chairs. "So Shade what brought you to Ponyville in the first place?" asked Rarity. "Hmm. Well, I was bored for quite some time, just wondering the streets of Canterlot and Manehatten, helping some poor ponies to get their lives going again and such. That is until I heard of Ponyville 'home of the Elements of Harmony and always full of excitement' at least according to my sources, so that's when I decided to come here so that way I can have a more exciting life," was my answer.

"Well that's quite generous and kind of you to help others get there lives up and running again," complimented Fluttershy. "Thank you Fluttershy, now how did you two end up here?" I asked the two. "I was born and raised here and I never would want to leave without good reason," was Rarity's answer. "I moved here because of my love for animals and since Ponyville is such a small town, it was a comfortable environment for me to live in as well as be able to peacefully take care of animals," was Fluttershy's answer.


After Spa Time


"That would be fifteen bits for the treatment," said Aloe. We were back in the front room paying for the time we had at the spa. After Rarity paid the right amount of bits we left the building. 

"So what did you think about that time in the spa Shade?" asked Fluttershy. 

"I really liked it, would it be alright if we made this a daily thing?" I asked the two. 

"That would be fine darling, just remember it's every Tuesday," Rarity answered my question. 

“Thanks, Rarity," I said. After that, we agreed to do this every Tuesday.

I woke up and checked the calendar and it's Friday which means I'm going to have tea with the Spirit of Chaos and the Element of Kindness. I did my morning routine and checked the time. 7:10 I need to kill some time. I thought. So to solve this I decided to play with Emma, my pet basilisk, in the basement which is a pocket dimension I made just for her.


4 Hours Later


"Bye Emma I need to go now," I said to a large green scaled snake with large fangs and glowing green eyes. 

"Bye Master see you next time," said my adorable snake monster, Emma. After closing the door I checked the time. It's 11:50. I have five more minutes, might as well be there early a little early I thought. I exited my house and went to Fluttershy's place. I knocked on the door. "Come in," said Fluttershy's voice. When I entered I saw a floating table holding a teapot and three teacups and there are three chairs accompanying it. In one chair was Fluttershy and the other has the one, the only Spirit of Chaos, Discord who's wearing a jacket that says 'Chaos Rules' along with yellow pants.

"Oh hello Shade, I would like you to meet Discord, Discord this is Shade," Fluttershy introduced us to each other. 

"Hello Discord it's an honor to meet the Spirit of Chaos face to face," I said to him. 

"Why thank you, dear, it's a pleasure to meet you as well," said Discord and his smugness tastes really good, I have no idea why. "Would you like some help getting on your seat?" he asked like a gentleman/gentlecolt. 

"No thank you I'll be fine," was my answer.

I then jumped up and landed sitting on top of my chair. Fluttershy looked slightly surprised. "What? The figure isn't just looks," I said to that."So how has your week been dear Shade?" Discord asked me. "It's been fine, I recently got a pet basilisk at Monday along with moving in town and such, went to the spa with Fluttershy and Rarity, tried finding a job in town along with playing with Emma, which is my basilisk's name, so not much really. How about you two?" I said in three seconds flat.

The two took a moment to process that and Discord said, "Well I've just been doing small pranks around Equestria and been looking for a magical anomaly I sensed."

"I've just been taking care of the animals, welcoming Shade to Ponyville, had some spa time with Shade and Rarity like Shade said, and that's about it," was Fluttershy's response.

"Hmm so Shade how do you like your tea?" asked Discord. 

My necked jerked. "Cold with two drops of honey, like my heart," I said with a depressed tone in my voice. My neck jerked again and I was normal yet again. "Sorry about that, it happens a lot," I said. Discord was looking at me with a critical eye for a second before snapping his eagle talon and I found a cup of tea in my hand. I took a sip of it. It. Was. Amazing.

"This is really good," I commented. 

"Why thank you I made it myself," said Discord again with pride. Pride tastes so good when it comes from him. Why? I wonder in my head. After that, we chatted and talked until it was time to go.

"Goodbye. It was very nice having tea with you two," I said standing from my seat, which was back on the floor. After the two lovebirds (that's right everyone I ship it) said bye I left and went to try and get a stable job.

After walking for a few minutes I heard an explosion coming from...the Town Hall I think? I opened a small rift to Town Hall and saw that is was, indeed, the place where the explosion happened. So I jumped through and landed on top of the fountain. Guess what I found, go on guess. I found a white coated earth pony mare with a white mane/tail wearing a yellow dress. When she faced me she turned out to have blue eyes and a symbol of a hawk on her hand.

"Oh, goodie! Your here," she said with annoyance at the end of her sentence. She blasted solidified light at me to which I block with a shield made of shadow that shattered on impact but it did its job. "Good reaction time. But can you dodge this?" She made lightning strike me faster than I could react, giving me a lot of pain and some kind of suppression to my magic for a split second which got rid of my disguise. I got up and dodged a fireball that was coming towards me at the last second.

'Author? Who's this?' I asked myself in my head. It's your enemy, the antagonist of your story. I'm not telling anything about her to you except that she uses order and holy magic, the types of magic that stops your unholy and chaos magic from working as long as you are being hit by it. 

'Wait. So my disguises are powered by unholy and chaos magic? Why not changeling magic?' I questioned while dodging some more blasts from the mystery mare. They are powered by changeling magic but yours is too weak right now to be used by itself so you subconsciously use your other types of magic to help it. I'm not going to tell you anything else since Smile is asking so nicely. I heard sarcasm at those last two words, I wonder why.

"How about you stop talking to the Author and fight me!" Whoa! Another beam of light whizzed by my head and broke someone's window. Is she also a fourth wall breaker or something? I threw a ball of ice at her which she blocked with a fireball. We continued fighting each other with opposite things, light versus shadow, fire and ice, order and chaos, we even did an eating contest and tied! She was equal in power but an opposite with everything else, I'm good, she's evil, she's sane, I'm not. It's very frustrating to fight this lady.

Eventually, we stopped and took a break and when I looked back at her she was gone. I looked around and found a lot of Ponyville in burning to embers or frozen solid, ponies and a certain dragon were running away screaming, it was chaos and a little funny to watch but I feel kinda bad now. I heard a thump and turned around to find the mare again. "Have fun with the princesses," she said before I felt something hit my head and I had the lights turned off.





When my brain was back online and running smoothly I opened my eyes to see the floor of a train. I tried to stand up but I found some resistance, I looked at my lap and was surprised to find myself chained to a sitting position. "Oh look. You're awake," I looked at where the tomboyish voice came from and saw Rainbow Dash sitting at the seat across from mine. I tried to use a knockout spell on her but I was given a shock originating from my neck instead. I felt my neck with my shackled hand and found an iron clasp on it.

"If ya want to get shocked then be ma guess and try again," I looked to the left and saw Applejack had a smug look on her face while sitting over there with Fluttershy(who looked like she was about to faint), Rarity(who was glaring at me), and Twilight(who was looking proud of herself, likely for capturing me).

I sighed and simply asked, "Where are we going and why?"

Twilight answered and said, "We are going to Canterlot, where you'll be taken to court for assault, impersonating a pony, and damage of property." I was confused with the first one, scoffed at the second one, and understood the third one since I did miss a few times and damaged some buildings.

"I'm guessing there's no courthouse in Ponyville?" I asked.

Rainbow joined and said, "The town hall is used as a court hall and the basement is the jail but since it's just ashes at the moment, thanks to you, we have to go to the nearest town or city with a courthouse and have your trial there." Everyone else blinked a few times with shock on their faces, "What? I may not always be smart but I know things." I sighed and closed my eyes to try and sleep but I was slapped by Miss Apple.

"You're going to stay awake for the whole ride Missy. Can't have trouble waking you up when we get there and we're not going to carry you, already had to carry you to the train station," she said before returning to her seat.

"Okay then. I'll just be here, doing nothing but looking out the window while being watched as if I'm a freak," I said sadly. I did what I said and I was correct about being watched but not like I'm a freak, instead I was being watched like a hawk. After noticing this fact I spaced out and turned off my attention to the world like a switch.


Third Person Point Of View


After Rainbow noticed that Shade was out she asked Twilight, "So Twilight. What do you think Princess Celestia and Princess Luna will do with her?"

"Rainbow, while I do know Princess Celestia well I have no clue what she will do. I'm guessing she will put her in the dungeon for about three months, but it depends on what she sees in her memories," was Twilight's answer.

"Wait one minute! Princess Celestia can look through other's memories?" AJ asked with surprise.

"It's more of Princess Luna's thing but since she isn't available until sundown we will have to hope Celestia doesn't accidentally break her mind," after Twilight said that Shade began laughing like a mad mare. "What's so funny?" little Twi asked the changeling queen.

"Oh, nothing. It's just that my mind is already broken, I was a very emotionally sensitive child back then and losing members of the family can scar one's mind sometimes," was what she said after catching her breath with a lasting smile staying there. The six were put off by this and felt slightly sorry, until the fact that she's a changeling snapped them back to not caring.

"So who are you exactly?" asked AJ. "Y'all looked very similar to that one queen that invaded Canterlot but there are differences. Ya related to her or something?"

The changeling, being oh so cooperative, said, "My name is Shader, chaos and unholy is the magic game I'm always playing. I have no clue if I related to that queen or not, and I wouldn't be surprised if I was." The six were again put off by what magic Shade uses but quickly shook it off when Shade then said, "Now my turn: Does this little necklace block passive abilities?"

Fluttershy shook her head no at Shade's question and Twilight said, "No, it can't since that usually resolves in a magical explosion, killing the one wearing it and greatly injuring those around him or her." Shade mentioned how that's very peculiar before back to looking out the window with an empty face.

The train car was silent for the rest of the ride until the conductor yelled, "We have arrived at Canterlot." The group of six mares and one changeling prisoner then left the train and walked up to the castle.


First Person Point Of View
Shade


When we finally arrived at the castle the guards searched us for any weapons, sadly finding my knife and bone saw hidden inside my mane. When they took the weapons and had us cleared we entered the very bright building and took a few corridors before stopping in front of a pair of doors with guards on either side. The doors were then opened and we were let in.

The princess was wearing a white dress with some yellow here and there and a golden crown with an amethyst in the center I believe. When we entered she put some papers on a desk next to her throne and greeted us after we all bowed. "It is good to see you all again but I wish it wasn't with these circumstances," she said with disappointment and anger coming off of her that was aimed at me, which I greedily absorbed to help with my energy since my other magics are cut off and absorbing emotions is a passive ability I can use.

"Did you read the letter I sent you princess?" Twilight asked Miss Sunny. At Celestia's nod, Twilight then said, "So you know what happened?"

"The changeling queen will be put on trial in two days and will stay in the dungeons until then," Princess Celestia said before calling some guards over, one being a unicorn and the other an earth pony, and telling them where I needed to be. They nodded and I followed them, we took a left after leaving the room and, after going to the end of the hall and down a long staircase, we arrived at a solid metal door. The unicorn guard took some keys off his belt and unlocked the door before entering, me and the other guard following after him.

We passed a few barred doors on the left of us and most of them were empty except for the one at the very end of the hall. One of the two occupants was a blond earth pony stallion with a white mane and tail, blue eyes, and a picture of a baseball on his hand wearing a bright green short-sleeved shirt and pants. 

The other one was a white unicorn mare with a blond mane and tail, red eyes, and a picture of a baseball bat on her hand wearing the same outfit but pink instead and a cuff on her horn. I walked into the room after having my cuffs removed except for the one around my neck, hearing the door close and lock behind me. "So what are you in for?" the unicorn asked.

"Assault, impersonating a pony, and property damage. Although the second one is completely untrue since I made the pony up, you?" I asked with interest in my voice.

The pegasus answered by saying, "We're in here for assault and robbing a bank. My name's Control Ball and my sister here is Beat It."

I sat down at a corner of the cell before saying, "The name's Shade. So-" I clapped my hand together"- why did you rob a bank and do assault?"





We have been talking for a while, starting on why we did our crimes. I told them about my battle and the 'impersonating a pony' was obvious for why I did it and turns out the siblings needed the money to help their grandmother, who was very sick and needed help but they were too poor to pay, and assault happened because of ponies not letting them take the money. We all seem to be having a trial on the same day, we eventually ran out of things to talk about and slowly fell asleep due to it being after sundown.

I'm now back in that stupid red void so I decided to see what Celestia was dreaming of only to hear a robotic voice say, "Dream unavailable." I tried multiple times and got the same results, I gave up after the fifteenth time and stayed in the void.

"Hmm. I haven't actually tried to change the area that much so maybe I should try again? I got nothing else to do," I thought out loud. The first change I did was make the void be replaced with Ponyville on a cloudy day. The place looked abandoned so I added dream constructs to act like members of the town as well as look like them. I wandered around the place for a while, talking to Pinkie, reading some books even though they were blank and more.

It was pretty boring until someone showed up. "A rather peaceful dream you're having, shapeshifter," the Princess of The Night commented.

"Why thank you, Princess. It's an honor to actually meet you, in my real form at least," I said back while balancing some sticks spinning plates on all my fingers, my muzzle, and forehead. I made them vanish in a poof of smoke and started walking down a path in a peaceful forest.

Luna followed me and said, "My sister asked for me to try and get some answers from you before the trial." I nodded and told her I'd be happy to answer them. "Very good. My first question is: where is your hive?" she asked.

"Don't have one. Can't have an entire hive depend on me. I'm a follower or a lone wolf, not a leader. If I was then you would have found a drone instead of the queen," was my answer. 

"That seems surprising with your age being over eighty-nine." I raised an eyebrow at her from that. "We had doctors do a mental and physical checkup on you while you were asleep," she explained. We came across a group of little huskies with there parents while the forest went into winter with a light snowfall. I carried one of the cuties and had the rest follow us while motioning Luna to ask her next question.

"Who are you? That should've been the first question but I forgot at the time." I told Luna the same thing I told the Mane Six. "Why would you use such dark magic?!" Luna yelled, scaring the pups and making the grown huskies growl at her.

I shushed them and put the pup back with her family before saying, "Because it's a natural magic I use. I can only use those magic as well as changeling magic, I can't control how I'm born now can I?" I got a slight headache after saying the last part and blacked out.


Young Shade's Point Of View
In An Unknown Hive


I looking at the worried blue maned changeling queen, wearing a bright red outfit, with confusion in my eyes. 'Mommy's usually not worried,' I thought. "Mommy, what's wrong? Did someone get hurt again?" I asked her.

"No honey. We just have some mean ponies over at the moment," Mommy's not good at lying. She took me out of bed and ran down the halls and put me into the safe room with Thorax, wearing his usual dark green outfit, who was just as confused as I was, before leaving. We heard lot's of fighting outside and we were quite afraid of what happened to mom since she never came back.

When the fighting stopped we heard someone say without a buzz, "Where's that princess and her guard? They're what our client wants."

We heard other voices without a buzz say they don't know until one of them said, "Guys. Where does this door lead?" The door opened and the first thing I saw was Mom, lying dead on the floor. I screamed and blasted at the pony that opened the door and transported myself and Thorax to somewhere before blacking out.


Third Person Point Of View
The Real World


Shade woke up with a start and looked around to find it to be sun up and her cellmates were still asleep. She sighed in relief and just waited for something else to happen.

'The most plausible possibility is that this dimension has the ability to adjust to a new being staying there, making it have to do changes to the past, present, and future. That, or I stole someone's body,' I thought in my head. I've been pondering why that strange flashback happened since I woke up and the only possibilities I could think of that made sense, in a way, was that either the world is adjusting to my stay or I took this body from the owner while dead, asleep or unconscious and I'm seeing memories that it had.

The others woke up about an hour and a half ago and ate the food that was left for them before just pacing back and forth, waiting for the day to go by. I joined them in the pacing only a little bit ago and it's really boring, even though I've done this countless times back home at school. 'Now that I think about it, can my chaos magic adapt to work despite this necklace thingy?' I stopped and took a seat on one of the beds, specifically the one across from the window(which was at the right wall inside the cell). 'If it does then that would likely only happen with this individual one and not all of them,' with that thought in mind I tried to make the sunlight shining through the window dimmer, make a small sound, anything that would be an easy and small feat, only to be shocked. 

Beat It started telling me how 'it's no use' and all that but I ignored her and kept trying. The shocking seems to startle my body, causing me to instinctively cancel the spell I'm casting, so it won't be anytime soon before I can successfully use my chaos magic. Unholy magic doesn't really seem to have any adaptive abilities unless it's manually made to happen so that's out the window, changeling magic is mostly all about change but only through a special transmutation, and it's a manual thing so that can't really work either.





I kept trying to use my magic and have my body expect the shock the whole day and I came up with nothing. I went to sleep soon after the others and found myself in the forest yet again, but it was barely recognizable. 

Everything was dead. No leaves were on the trees, there were corpses of animals killed in different ways, even the air didn't feel right in the lungs. I looked down to find I was covered in blood as well. Just like the strange hallucinations I had back home a lot of the time while I was at school. Though the sky was clear and bright of all things instead of the cloudy sky I was expecting. A flash of a lightning bolt then struck, blinding me for a few seconds before fading and revealing that the forest was lively once again.

Leaves were on trees, animals were alive without any injuries, I wasn't covered in blood, and the air felt fresh and pure. But the surprise about this was that I was wearing a long, simple, grey dress that went to my knees, grey gloves going up to my elbows and I felt my hooves covered in some kind of shoe, similar to Princess Luna and Celestia. Luna came soon after I took all this information in.

"Another walk through the forest I see," she commented. I nodded and walked in a random direction, not really caring where I would end up. Luna caught up with me and said, "We were interrupted during my questioning last night. Care to explain what happened?"

I stopped by an averagely sized lake and said while looking into the water, "I had a flashback about my childhood when my hive was murdered." When I said 'murdered' lightning struck from the sky and everything was dead yet again with the river being blood red. I turned to the saddened Luna with a smile, "Don't worry though. I don't feel anything when I look back on it, don't bother trying to comfort." The transition between dead and alive happened again after we continued walking through the woods with the occasional anvil or cake falling onto the ground.

"Why are there object falling from the ground?" Luna said.

I simply said a little something that I like to say whenever someone says 'it doesn't make sense.' "Oh, dear Princess Luna. It's because where's the fun in making sense? It's amazing to see how someone reacts when one does something random and unpredictable."

Luna just looked at me like I was crazy, which I am but still, and asked, "Are you related to Discord by any chance?" I went into a laughing fit at that question for the next minute until I calmed down and gave her a negative answer to me and Discord being related. "How about Miss Pinkamena?" she asked, me giving her another negative.

"If I was related to either of them then I wouldn't have been caught and put into a prison cell with two bank robbers," I said after the second negative. "Let's do a change of scenery, I always did see the night as a more relaxing time of day," I then said before raising my right hand and snapping, causing the sun to turn into the moon from the middle and causing a shock-wave in the sky, changing from day to night.

"Although. It's a little too quiet and peaceful here. Hmm, let's turn the place into a city," I clapped and after seeing a rainbow surround us and vanish, Luna and I were at the edge of a small park in Manehatten. Various ponies were walking about, some old couples, young couples, and a few small families were around and just admiring the park's beauty, while outside the park there were quite a few grouchy ponies and occasional griffons walking through the streets in a hurried manner, trying to do what they need to do as soon as possible.

"So. What was your next question?" I asked while starting to take a stroll through the park.

Luna followed after me and said, "Why would you attack a defenseless mare?" That made me stop in my tracks and have a lightning strike, causing the dream to be quiet and dead. I slowly turned around and gave her a look that said 'you're kidding, right?'

I opened my mouth and told her, "I would never unless she was responsible for something that would make me hold a grudge, which is almost impossible due to my ability to shrug most negative feelings off. The mare attacked me first, struck the first punch or whatever. I was simply trying to at least knock her out." Lightning struck again, making everything alive again before I turned around and continued walking. The princess caught up once again and bid me farewell before leaving my dream.

Now that she's gone. I can actually kill some things before I go mad and do it in the real world.

After I woke up I found it was mid-day and my cellmates were gone, probably in their trial already. I sat up and felt a strange chill come through my body after doing so. I heard the door open and saw a guard come in with some handcuffs in his magic aura.

"Time for your trial," he said carelessly. I nodded and let him put the cuffs on before being led to the throne room. When we got there it turned out that at least twenty-five ponies came to see the trial, including the Mane Six and the princesses of day and night.

"We are here for the trial of a changeling queen named Shade," started Celestia.

"Her crimes are for the destruction of property, impersonating a pony, and for assault. What is your claim?" Luna asked.

I rolled my eyes and said, "Not guilty for impersonation and assault. Destruction of property is a different story.”

Celestia then gave a signal to the guard next to me, he took the necklace off and conjured chains to keep me in place. ”Your memories will now be seen by us. There will be no secrets after this,” exclaimed Celestia before she, and Luna, blasted me with a spell.

Next thing I know, I'm feeling large amounts of pain in my head and a holographic screen appeared above me. It showed my earliest memory of this world and reviewed everything that happened in my perspective until I was put in my cell.

After it was over Luna observed that the pony I ’impersonated’ was, in fact, not real so I was excused from that crime. It was also observed that ’Smile’ threw the first punch so I was excused from that as well.

I was still being charged for damage of property though. I had no way of arguing for that so it was left to just that. Though before the final decision of what would happen was said the world turned gray and stood still.

Starting from the walls it slowly turned black and into a void. The darkness was slowly coming to the center of the room until it stopped, a message appeared in front of me consisting of purple letters spelling out ’hope you like your second chance.’ After that, I knew nothing more than darkness.





I woke up to the sound of groaning and saw myself to be in a canyon with a giant skull towering over me, I was back where I started. I sat up before looking at where the groaning came from and saw it was me, I looked at my hand and instead of black chitin, I saw a literal piece of Luna’s night sky shaped like a hand. I moved various parts of my hand and it did the same thing.

I quickly looked at myself and found my whole body was in the same state except with a few holes here and there on my arms and legs. Even my hair was like a night sky with a hole or two, thankfully not flowing in a nonexistent wind. There was also a horn with a few holes in it, no wings. I was wearing a red short-sleeved shirt with a pair of loose jeans and some pink gloves covering my hands and wrists. I conjured a small hand mirror and found that my eyes were a deep purple with slip pupils.

The one with my old body got up and said, ”I died again, didn’t I?” She sighed and looked around until she saw me, ”Hello, my name is Snow and I’m now technically your mother.”

’Well. That’s a surprise,’ I thought in my head.

She asked for my name and I told her, ”It used to be Van but due to me being in a different body and gender I should change my name so it won’t be weird.” She agreed and asked what I would prefer. ”I would prefer Shade Tangible Nightmare but it’s your choice, you’re the mom after all.”

”We’ll just leave it as that. So, welcome to Equis, specifically the outskirts of Griffin Stone,” she sighed in slight annoyance. ”Why did that disguise have to fade? If I had just a few minutes longer I would have been fine,” she said to herself.

I cleared my throat to get her attention and said, ”Is there a place you stay by chance? I don’t exactly have anywhere to go.”

She got an annoyed look on her face before saying, ”I used to but since I was found out to be a changeling the griffons probably destroyed the place. Luckily I have a home in Canterlot we could stay in, full of mostly rich snobs but it’s better than nothing.”

I nodded and stood up shakily, chaos magic must’ve been why I could walk so easily before. I slowly took a few steps to get used to it and asked how we can get out of the canyon. ”We are going to fly out obviously, I’m too exhausted to use teleportation. Let’s start a magic lesson since you don't have wings,” was her excited response. I’m not going to enjoy this, am I?





I was right, I hated it. First I had to learn a basic levitation spell and use a more powerful version if it on myself as well as keep a shield up so I won't get ripped apart, it sounds easy but magic can only be used in a certain way depending on the user. The second was to get the hang of using it and not feel sick, or freeze up(I have a fear of heights that didn't bother me before due to my inability to die and feel fear).

Luckily it only took about an hour for it all to be over. ”Okay. Let's get going,” said ’Mother.’ I nodded and used my night sky aura to bring me up without the wind ripping me apart. It’s a rather odd experience, flying like this instead of chaos magic. You feel so much weaker like this than when using chaos.

After we got up Snow turned to face me, ”Alright. Now that we’re out of that let’s get you started on using a disguise. You have more changeling magic than I do so it’ll be easier for you.” I nodded and asked how to do it. ”Like usual magic, it depends on the user. You could do it by acting like you’re playing pretend, you are replaced by the one you’re pretending to be or something like that,” explained Snow.

I hummed and thought about what would work and got an idea. I channeled my magic into my hand and turned the green sphere into the shape of a mask before putting it on. A cloud of green smoke surrounding me later and I was a simple yellow unicorn with a brown mane/tail wearing the clothes my original form has on, my eyes too were the same but with round pupils.

”Unique,” Snow said, ”I’ve never seen someone do it like that and without green fire.” She was engulfed in green flames before coming back as a blue pegasus with a pink mane/tail wearing all grey. ”Shall we get to the train station then?” she asked with an accent similar to the one Rarity uses. I nodded and we headed off.

Getting to the house to get some money and getting on the train was easy but it was when we got on the train that things got interesting. ”Everyone on your knees!” Eight hijacked the train car an hour after we left the train station. They were mostly identical griffons wearing the cliche outfit of a thug you would find, the other two were pegasi wearing similar clothing that had purple coats.

Everyone did as they were told and got down. ”Empty your pockets of anything valuable,” the leader, a griffon with a line of black crossing over his eyes, said. Now you might be asking ’What are they threatening with?’ The answer my friends is they have a pregnant mare hostage, knife against her throat at all times and husband unconscious, a rather cowardly move but to each their own. Everyone was on their knees like they were told, including us, before the group did the usual intimidation stuff.

I blocked them and heard Snow say in my head, ’How about you get rid of these guys? Your magic is pretty strong and likely easy to use for you now that you know how to actually use it.’

’Because,’ I mentally replied. ’I don’t know which sounds better. Make them hallucinate or give them an illusionary pain in their heads that's powerful enough for them to be distracted before knocking them out?’ I asked Snow, curious about which one she thinks is a better option. She agreed with the illusionary pain so I put some magic together through my right hand and when it was done charging set the ball down and had it split up into eight, one for each criminal.

Just when they got affected I had my head jerk to the right, causing me to start being crazy again. I made black mist cover everyone's eyes and bound them before pulling a blade out of my mane and I charged at the baddies with a crazy smile, chopping their heads off while they’re holding their head from pain. My head jerked again and I reattached the heads, hid the blood, and reanimated the robbers before making everyone unbound and no longer blind, making it seem like I just knocked them out.

The only one who saw it was Snow. She had a small smirk and went over to check on the mare and heal her husband. I went over to my seat and continued looking out the window like nothing ever happened.

Snow soon joined me and said, “Interesting. Never thought you have had that type of mental health. You're rather unique, even for your siblings.”

”So. Who are the rest of the family members? What are they like?” I asked my new mother. She went off explaining who my three older siblings are and got into a tangent about them for the rest of the ride there.





When we arrived at Canterlot we left the train and went down about a block before going through an alleyway and seeing a large mansion that’s greyed out due to age, surrounded by a brick wall. We walked through the large gates of ebony before seeing a small garden previously unseen due to the fence, it was rather beautiful with the choices of flowers there, peaceful too.

Snow took a key out of her sleeve and unlocked the door before entering while yelling, ”Kids! I’m back!” in the house.

There were three thumps before we heard three pairs of footsteps coming, two seem to be in a slight hurry like they're excited while the third pair was slow and calm. The source of these footsteps were two earth ponies and one unicorn.

The earth ponies are identical twins with blue coats, yellow manes/tails, and purple eyes. The one on the left had a cutie mark of a burning tree while the other one had a fire inside a cage. They are also both wearing a white short-sleeved shirt and some pants. The one with a burning tree cutie mark for his disguise is Wild Burn and the one with a fire in a cage cutie mark is Calm Flame.

The unicorn has purple eyes as well with an ice blue coat and a white mane/tail. She wears a dark pink long-sleeved shirt, a black skirt, and a pair of pants. The cutie mark she uses is what seems to be a blizzard with a single detailed snowflake in the middle, she goes by Icy Glare. ”Hey, Mom. Good to see you back,” she said with a small smile, her voice sounding a little cold.

”Good to see you all,” Mother said. ”I may have died during the little vaca so you all have a new sister.” She motioned over to me after the sentence with me giving a quick wave.

”Hello,” the three said at once with a wave of their own.

”I’m guessing Mother already told you about us?” With a nod, Wild continued, ”So you know our names and disguise descriptions?”

With another nod, Calm joined and said, ”But do you know what our true forms look like?” I shook my head no and Mother lead us to a sitting room.

Mum smiled and said, ”Now that you’ve mentioned it Calm, we should probably share that little secret. After all, we're family and shouldn't get confused with an evil changeling or when a hunter catches one of us so we can help them.” Glare closed the curtains with a purple aura of her magic while Mom was talking.

Wild and Calm stepped up and shifted in a green quit explosion. The two simply turned into changeling version of themselves but with their eyes being slits, similar to mine and our Mum.

For Glare she was covered in a tiny blizzard of some kind of green snow. She also looked the same as her disguise but with various holes in her body and hair and chitin instead of fur and slits for eyes.

Mother motioned for me to show my true form and I responded by making the mask I made earlier visible with green smoke surrounding me while reaching the mask with my right hand. When I grabbed the mask I was covered in the smoke and it vanished to reveal the real me while I took the mask off, it shattering after and fading from existence.

My neck thing happened again. ”Must it be so dramatic?” I asked while looking at my reflection of a nearby mirror.

It then happened again and I said with a British accent, ”Why of course dear, a little flash never hurt anyone and besides it’s how our transformation works with our type of mind.”

It happened again and I said while looking at my hand, ”Do I have split personality disorder now or something?”

”Probably,” I said with my hand doing the puppet thing, ”We always were pretty crazy and our insanity was slightly increased since we came here so you might have active other personalities in your head now.” I slapped myself and looked back at the audience of my new family watching that little episode.

”Very sorry about that. I’m a crazy person that can seem like Pinkie Pie,” I sound a little drunk now. Maybe some sleeping can help me process the situation I’ve arrived in.

When I awoke from my faint of VERY delayed shock I found myself in an endless corridor made of stars with various doors on each side. The doors all had a metal sign on it with a name on it, under the name was a cutie mark for most of them with some not having one.

I must have put myself in the dream realm by accident during the dreamless sleep I was having. I sighed and looked for any dark green or blue/black tinted doors to see if I can solve a bad dream and maybe see if I can do what the real Tantabus was able to do, absorb guilt and possibly sadness or fear from others to empower me.

I saw doors filled with mostly a bright yellow or the same look as the walls, likely meaning it’s a dreamless sleep the person is experiencing or a happy dream is what they’re having.





I finally find a door with a more grey color, one not so happy like and giving off this aura that I feel drawn to. Before I opened the door I changed myself into Luna but with a light blue mane and tail instead of her night sky one, like in the first episode of my little pony but anthro and wearing a red shirt and some pants.

When I entered the door I saw a white room with padding everywhere, I’m possibly in an asylum. I saw a little filly of all things crying and looking at a clip of some kind.

The clip showed the filly with her family of five, her being the youngest, and they were taking a walk through a park inside Manehattan. Though there was a glow in the shadows of a nearby tree before the filly pulled a knife out of her mane and killed her mom, dad, and siblings with a large smile. She suddenly collapsed in the clip, looking panicked and sad, crying her eyes out.

The clip then faded before it restarted from the beginning again. ”I didn't want to! I regret it, now stop!” the filly said, her voice hoarse from all the crying she was doing. There was a mist of grey and blue coming off of her and it went into me, somehow making me feel more powerful.

I walked up behind the filly before dismissing the clip and putting her in an apartment from her memories with her family having dinner and generally a good time before leaving it. She was shocked and confused at first but then she saw me with a smile before I left the dream and back into the dream realm.

Unfortunately, when I left the dream I ended up muzzle to muzzle with Princess Luna and boy did she look mad. I teleported behind her before starting to fly away. ”Come back here, you imposter!” Luna yelled with rage before chasing after me.

I replied with ”Sorry but your current target it unavailable, please come back at another time.” Yeah, I was wondering why I said that as well. Unless you aren't wondering. Anyways, I kept flying away as fast as I could until I got hit by a spell from her and crashed into a nightmare.

But Shade, how is it a nightmare? It's a nightmare since there are tons of giant spiders chasing a full-grown stallion. Probably has arachnophobia. I absorbed his fear and changed the dream into him on a beach, relaxing and having some mares he thinks are pretty after him before leaving the dream and going to the Canterlot dreams.

I can tell they're Canterlot dreams because of how the doors are made, some kind of fancy design that I don't know the name of. After entering the area I noticed that my dream self is slightly fading, probably signaling my awakening, so I just kept flying while dodging spell after spell.





Jeez, I wake up slowly! I've been dodging spells for the past ten minutes now and I'm STILL waking up. I got rid of my disguise on the first minute, where you went through a time skip, and kept the Tantabus look. Which at first made Luna surprised but then she got p#####.

She started firing spells twice the amount of time she was already doing and everything. If my calculations are correct with how slowly I'm fading I say I have a minimum of one to two minutes until I fully wake up. Speaking of waking up, all the doors in the dream realm have been fading as well, one by one, meaning they've woken up as well.

I hid behind a solid door and took a breather, being chased is annoyingly difficult. I looked at myself through a conjured mirror and smiled, I about to wake up! Then I saw Luna with a sword swinging at me before I woke and sat up with a gasp.

After taking deep breaths and calmed down I looked around the room. The room’s wallpaper was a dull grey with the roof being black. The bed I was currently on had purple sheets and a red blanket over it with a blue nightstand next to it, holding a lamp and a small note.

I stood up and got out of the bed before looking at the rest of the room. An oak bookshelf was at a corner to my right, currently empty. To the right of the bookshelf was a balcony with full glass doors and curtains that were currently open. Straight on the other side of the room from me was a small desk with a chair that had a closed pot of ink and a quill lying next to it. There was a yellow door to my left, likely the exit, with the light switch next to it.

I turned to the nightstand and picked up the letter before breading it.



Heys Shade, it's your mom.

I'm guessing that faint was from the stress of leaving your world and it only just fully processed through your brain. Anyways, we brought you over to your new room since reality changes to have you fit in and it added a room to the house as well as some memories for all of us to look back on.
What your usual disguise is is also decided by this and your usually just you without stars or holes. You may want to look at your hands to, they changed while you were sleeping.

’Well then. Kinda was thinking as that being my disguise anyways. Now, what’s this about my hands?’ I looked at my hand currently holding the note and noticed that the purple was green instead. I looked at the other and found the same results, they still had the sparkling stars but they were green instead. ’Strange,’ I thought.

I put the note down and looked at a mirror I didn't notice before at the corner to the left of my bed. I walked up to it and changed from my true form to my disguise. I made a mask and put it on my face and after the smoke faded I was just missing the holes and stars and I had fur in place of chitin.

After checking everything over and nodding in approval I went through the yellow door and entered a black-walled hallway with five other doors and a staircase straight to my left. I heard noise downstairs and went down and ended up in the dining room/kitchen only to see everyone else milling about and getting ready for something. ’Likely a job they all have,’ I thought. Mother noticed me and called me over.

”You’re awake! Come over and have some breakfast. You're gonna need the energy when you're at work,” she said while handing me a plate of pancakes with syrup and a fork with it. ”You are lucky to not need to go to work as early as us. Now, I gotta go shower and get dressed. Bye dear!” she gave me a kiss on my cheek before hurrying upstairs.

After standing there for the next three minutes I shook my head and sat at the large wooden table before slowly eating the pancakes, busy looking in my mind for any new memories I didn't have before.

After about three minutes I finished my food and found the memories I was looking for. According to the memory, I'm a talented user of magic, being able to pick up new magic pretty quickly, I'm able to make portals to other areas as long as I can see it or have been there before, I'm a master of illusions, I have an affinity with making magical constructs, and I can be ghostly in many ways whenever I want.

The job Mom mentioned earlier was me being a bartender but I recently got fired for causing a ruckus multiple times with illusions on those that were drinking, me blaming that they were drunk when they actually weren’t. So I’m actually unemployed.

I got up from my seat and put the plate and fork in the sink before leaving the house. I locked the front door behind me with a spare key I found in my pocket and walked through the gate like it was air, being too lazy to open it to get past it, before taking a left towards the public library. I feel like researching some magic today, maybe even cause a little mischief down the line, well let’s find out.





I entered the library and went straight to the magic section, waving at the librarian as I passed her, before going over the various book on magic there.

I found some books on winter spells and pyromancy and took them before going to an unoccupied table but found someone also taking the table at the same time, I was surprised to find Twilight Sparkle here of all people. Though she lacked wings, strange since she has ‘em back where I was previously.

“Oh. Sorry about that. Would it be ok if we shared?” Twilight asked me, surprised to see me. I nodded and we both took a seat at opposite sides of the table, Twilight opening a book titled ‘Doppelgängers’ and me first reading the pyromancy book I found. I quickly finished reading the book and started on the winter spells, Twilight having gone the through half of her book so far.

Soon after I finished pyromancy I finished the winter spells and put the book down, finding Twilight done with her book as well. “So,” I started, “What brings you to Canterlot?” I asked Twilight, finally trying to sate my curiosity.

”Oh. Well, it's my brother’s wedding in a few days and my friends and I were asked to help,” Twilight explained, frustration entering her emotional spectrum as she spoke.

”Well. I'm guessing that was a shock to here if your frustration is any sign,” I wondered, surprising Twilight with my perception. ’So it's Shining and Cadance’s wedding soon. Interesting, I should warn the family when I get the chance,’ I thought in my mind.

”How’d you know I was frustrated or shocked about the wedding?” Twilight asked, her curiosity taking over.

“It was obvious to me. I’m a very perceptive pony,” I told Twilight. “So. What brought you here to read a book titled ‘Doppelgängers?’” I asked Twilight, already having an idea of why.

“Well. The mare my brother is marrying was an old foalsitter of mine, she’s acting differently than how I’ve last seen her. Everyone is saying that she’s stressed from the wedding coming up but the way she’s acting is just too different for her to be the same pony,” Twilight explained, her frustration spiking greatly from having these thoughts in the forefront of her mind.

I nodded and asked, “She wouldn’t happen to be Cadance, would it?” She nodded and I continued, “We know each other. If this is really Cadance then how about we have a private meeting with her? If she isn’t acting anything like herself then I’ll help you figure this out,” I told her, telling the absolute truth. I actually met her once or twice at a cafe I go to occasionally.

“Ok. I can try to set up a meeting this evening, if not then in about two days,” Twilight said before giving me a quick hug and running out of the library, hope blooming within her as she left.

I put the books away before also leaving the library, successfully testing some of the winter spells but not so well with pyromancy. I guess I’m better at being cold than warm. I opened a portal to my home as I was walking and went through, plopping me in front of the front door. I opened the door and closed it behind me as I entered, finding everyone else in the living room, talking about their day until they noticed me.

“There you are Shade, where were you?” Mother asked me, probably having remembered that I lost my job by now.

“I was at the library. And I have news,” I told them. I walked over to a seat and sighed before sitting down. “Have you all heard about the upcoming wedding?” Everyone nodded at my question. “Well, the bride, Cadance, isn’t herself according to a dear friend of hers I met at the library. I think she’s been replaced by a changeling and if the timeline is similar to the one I know then we’re gonna have an invasion on our hands.” Everyone looked at me in disbelief for a moment before mother had a glint in her eyes.

“She was acting strange today. I merely put it off as stress but now that I think about it she never acts like this when stressed,” Snow said, my information making gears turn in her head. We all agreed to be ready for some kind of fight and decided to go to bed as the sun was setting.

As I changed to some red pajamas and went to bed the last thought that courses through my mind was, ’Two days. Two days and there’s gonna be a conflict. Let’s hope it ends well.’ I then went to sleep and entered the dream realm only to have a war hammer about to hit my face.
