Cadance sat on her throne chair doing a paperwork while using her hoof to play with her mane.

Suddenly, Princess Celestia walked into the throne room. She also had by the looks of it, a dragon. The dragon was a foot taller than Celestia, he had pale purple and green scales, green spikes and emerald green eyes. He was also wearing a purple vest with a white button up shirt underneath it.

Cadance quickly got off her chair and walked towards the two “Celestia, it's so good to see you.” She looked at Spike “And who is this?”

Celestia smiled and nudged Spike “Come on, sweetie. Introduce yourself.”

Spike straightened himself and cleared his throat “I'm Spike Draco, but you can just call me Spike.” He reached his claw out “It's a pleasure to meet you.”

Cadance's ears perked up and she shook Spike's claw “So you're the famous Spike I've been hearing about. It's so nice to finally meet you.”

Spike smiled “So my mother has been talking about me, is it good stuff?”

Celestia rolled her eyes “Of course it is. I always say good stuff about you.” She giggled.

Cadance giggled “I've always wanted to meet you. Where have you been all these years? Celestia never told us.”

Spike looked at Celestia with a frown “I thought you told them already where I've been?”

Celestia smiled nervously “I thought I'd let you explain to them what you do when you get back home.”

Spike sighed “Okay. I've traveling a bit with an assistant three years ago to find out about a new species that were thought to have died out. This certain species are in form of a pony but with different DNA, all I know so far is that their appearance is slightly different-” He stopped mid sentence “How about we grab some tea and somewhere to sit, I'll explain everything from there.”

The two alicorns nodded before Cadance led them to the royal garden there a small table with four chairs stood under a few trees.

Cadance and Celestia sat down at the table and teleported in a teapot with three tea cups and a plate of raspberry and coconut slices.

Spike sat down with them and grabbed a slice “Their appearance is slightly different. They have a reptile tail and scales on their body in shape of markings.” He took a bite out of his slice as the two sipped their tea. “And like dragons, they can breathe fire. They're very fascinating creatures.”

Cadance leaned in closer, obviously interested in this discovery. “That's so amazing, anymore information to tell?”

Spike finished his slice and poured himself a cup of tea “They can grow limbs that are of a extremely rare crystal that is very flexible. These limbs are mostly used as weapons, another thing about these crystals is that they're made out of blood.”

Spike continued talking about the species while Cadance paid attention, enjoying it very well. She also paid attention to his movement while speaking, the excitement in his movement made her feel something for him. She knew it wasn't love at all, she admired him.

After many minutes of talking, Spike finally finished “And that's about it. That's all I know so far about these species.”

Celestia finished her tea “That's really something, I hope you find out more about them.”

Spike smiled “Thank you, I hope so too. I also hope to find a living one soon.” He sat back “But enough about them, tell me more about yourself, Cadance.”

Cadance quickly snapped out of her trance and sat back “Oh um, well. Like you, I was raised by Celestia and was even taught by her.”

Celestia got off her chair “Well I better head off, will you be coming home tonight?”

Spike nodded “Of course I will, oh! Tell Raven that I'll be home soon, I need to thank her for traveling with me.”

Celestia nodded “I will.” She teleported out of the room, leaving the two alone.

Cadance went onto explaining herself a bit and Spike listened with a smile.

After telling him about herself, she leaned in close to him “So tell me, what are your other interest.”

Spike crossed his arms “Well I do love collecting shiny things, reading books, mostly comic books, cooking and sometimes cleaning.” He raised a brow “Now it's my turn to ask.”

Before Cadance could say anything, a maid ran over to her and said that she's needed.

Cadance frowned and got out of her chair “Sorry Spike, I'm needed. Another time?”

Spike got out of his chair “Another time, see you later.” He waved at her as he walked off.

Cadance smiled as followed the maid back inside the castle and walked into the throne room.

She frowned as she saw Chrysalis sitting on her throne chair. “Chrysalis, why are you here?”

Chrysalis jumped off the chair and walked over to her “Just came to say hi.” She smiled.

Cadance sighed in annoyance “Let me guess. You want another attempt to marry me?” She cocked a brow. “Because if it is, the answer is still no.”

Chrysalis chuckled nervously “Well it was worth a shot.” She wrapped an arm around her “But I also came here for another reason.” She said with a frown.

Cadance looked at her confused “What is it exactly?” She said as she removed Chrysalis’s arm off of her.

Chrysalis got out a small box “I got that thing you wanted.” She gave her the box “Now I'll be going, I got other business to attend to.” She walked off.

Cadance smiled “Thank you, Chrysalis! I own you one and it won't involve marriage!” She looked at the box and walked out of throne room. “I've always wanted this!” She walked all the way to her room and walked inside before closing the door behind her.

She opened the box and got out a small bottle filled with a clear sparkling liquid. “Liquid of lovely truth. A potion that shows who you truly love just by drinking it.” She put the bottle back in the box and put it safely under her in her drawer. “Gotta keep it safe.”

She looked over at her desk that had a pile of unfinished work and groaned “I already miss chatting with Spike.” She said while walking over to her desk before beginning her paperwork.

After hours of working and night slowly came around, Cadance ate dinner and got ready for bed.

She laid on her bed and stared out the window looking at the night sky. She couldn't help but think of nothing but Spike, she blushed slightly and proceeded to try and sleep, trying her best to get him out of her head. After what seemed like forever, she finally fell asleep.

After morning came up and Cadance finishing her work for today, she went over to Canterlot to pay a certain someone a visit.

She flew in front of the front gates and talked to the guards while walking in. She quickly noticed Luna and walked over to her. “Luna, it's good to see you.” She smiled.

Luna looked at her and smiled back “It's good to see you too, Cadance. What brings you here?”

“Just came here to visit Spike.” Cadance said while looking around “Do you by any chance know where he could be?”

Luna cock a brow while smirking “He's up in his room, any reason why you're visiting him?”

Cadance tilted her head slightly “I just want to know more about him. Our conversation was cut short yesterday and I wanted to continue it today.”

Luna leaned in close “So just a friendly chit chat? Not some quickie love under the bedsheets?”

Cadance blushed heavily while shaking her head “Of course not! I admire him and all, but we did just met each other.”

Luna leaned back and giggled “Whatever you say, just be careful. I heard dragons are very fierce in bed.” She walked off as Cadance's face turned a dark red.

Cadance shook it off and walked upstairs “Where is Spike's room? I should ask a maid.” She walked over to one of the maids and asked for directions to Spike's room.

After finding out where his room was, she made her way there and knocked on the door. Not hearing a response, she walked in and closed the door behind her before noticing that Spike was asleep with a comic book on his face.

She walked over to him and removed the book before placing it next to him. “I should leave him be, he must be tired.”

Celestia walked in holding a plate of scrambled eggs on toast. “Hey Cadance, Luna told me you were here.” She walked over to her. “And don't worry about him too much.”

Cadance looked at her and smiled “Oh hey. I just wanted to talk to him, but since he's still asleep I guess I should head off.”

Celestia shook her head “You just got here, and plus Spike should be awake now.” She placed the plate on Spike's lap. “Spikey Wikey, it's time to wake up.”

Spike groaned as he slowly opened his eyes before sitting up and yawning loudly. “Morning, Mum.” He stretched and scratched his chest. He looked over at Cadance and smiled “Hey Cadance, how you doing?” He began eating his breakfast.

“Oh I'm doing good, how did you sleep?” Cadance said as she sat next to him.

He stuffed the food in his mouth before swallowing “I slept like a rock, like I always do.” He finished his food. “Thank you for breakfast, Mum.”

Celestia giggled “No problem.” She took the plate “Well I'll just leave you two be.” She said as she walked out of the room and closed the door.

Cadance looked at Spike “So any plans for today?” She asked with a smile.

“Not really, I'm as free as a bird.” Spike said as he got out of bed “But my first plan is to have a shower.” He walked out of the room while humming.

Cadance giggled and looked around his room. It sorta looked like a teenager boy's room, maybe it was because his room hasn't been changed since he left. She walked around the room and notice a picture of Celestia and him when he was a baby, Celestia looked so happy and Spike looked so adorable.

She picked it up and took a closer look. Both of them were covered in cake icing, mostly Celestia though.

She put the picture back before walking over to his bookshelf. The shelf mostly contained spell books, history books and comic books.

She quickly noticed a small book that had paper sticking out through the pages, she got it out the book and looked at the cover. It was Spike's book on the new species he found, she open it and a piece of folded paper fell out.

She caught it with her magic and unfolded it to see what was in it.

((((Picture))))

Cadance was amazed by the drawing and the design of the creature. She never knew Spike was good at drawing at all, she smiled as she put the picture back in the book before Spike walked back into the room wearing nothing but a towel, that was wrapped around his waist.

She looked over at him and blushed slightly as he walked over to her “So you found my book on the creature.” Spike said as he grabbed the book and closed it “Sorry, but only I can see inside the book. It’s not done yet.”

Cadance nodded “Understandable. Do you want me to leave the room so you can get changed?” She said as she looked at his body. He had quite the fit body, but he did have a weird light purple tattoo on his chest that looked like Celestia's cutie mark.

Spike shook his head “No it's alright.” He clicked his fingers and he was wearing normal clothes again. “I can use magic.”

Cadance's eyes sparkled a bit “I never knew you could use magic. How though?”

Spike smiled as he walked over to his bed and sat on it “Celestia gave me the ability to use magic at birth, the spell she used on me gave me a magic mark. It's the tattoo that's on my chest here.” He tapped his chest before unbuttoning his shirt.

Cadance got closer to him “That's very interesting.” She got a closer look at the mark and placed a hoof on it. To her surprise, both his mark and her cutie mark both glowed. “Whoa…” She removed her hoof and the glow stopped.

Spike chuckled “Yeah that happens, Celestia does it a lot because she considers it fun to do. But if you leave it there with your eyes closed, you can see what the other's thinking about.” He put her hoof back on his chest and the marks glowed again. “Shall we?”

Cadance slowly nodded “Sure, sounds fun.” She closed her eyes and so did Spike.

Cadance waited for something to happen, and it did. She saw a bowl of ice cream with gems on it, she looked up and saw Celestia in front of her sipping coffee while reading the newspaper. It almost felt like a memory to her.

She quickly opened her eyes and noticed that her lips were inches away from his, she blushed heavily and quickly leaned back.

Spike slowly opened his eyes and groaned “Wow.” He chuckled slightly. “That was surely something.”

Cadance looked at him concerned, what did he see? Hopefully it wasn't something personal.

He looked at her “You filled your whole school with soap because you didn't want to go?” He cocked a brow.

Cadance sighed in relief before giggling “Yeah, I guess you could say that. Please don't tell the others, they still haven't found out who did it.”

He nodded “Sure thing. Now what did you see?” He asked while leaning back.

“All I saw was a bowl of ice cream with gems and Celestia reading a newspaper, I felt very small in it.” Cadance said while crossing her arms.

Spike clicked his fingers “Ah, I know. Every afternoon after spell practice, Celestia would give me a ice cream as a treat. Good times I must say, good times.”

Cadance giggled “Same with me, but instead of gems it was gumdrops.” She stomach growled and she blushed in embarrassment. “So uh, wanna go out for lunch?”

Spike got off his bed and buttoned his shirt up “Sure thing, I've been meaning the try the chili dogs here.”

Cadance followed him out of the room “They have the best chili dogs here, I know where the place is.” She grabbed his claw with her magic and quickly walked to the front door, before walking passed the alicorn sisters. “Be right back, getting food.”

Spike waved at them as they walked out of the castle. The two watched them leave before looking at each other.

Luna let out a chuckle “Those two are getting along. When do you think the wedding will happen?”

Celestia looked at the front door while smiling “Hey now, they only did just meet. But I'm happy they're getting along.”

Meanwhile at the Canterlot food court

Cadance and Spike were sitting at a table eating their chili dogs.

“Man, these are good!” Spike exclaimed loudly before swallowing it whole. “I'm gonna go get some more.” He got up and quickly walked back to the hotdog stand.

Cadance giggled and finished hers before sipping her soda. “The onions make it even better.”

Spike came back with a plate of chili dogs and placed it down on the table before sitting back down “Have some before I eat them all.” He grabbed one before munching on it.

Cadance quickly grabbed one “Don't be greedy.” She took a bite out of hers.

Spike chuckled as he quickly finished his “How about we race to see who can eat the fastest?” He asked with a smirk.

Cadance finished hers and smirked back at him before separating their food in an equal amount “Challenge accepted.”

The two got ready while staring at each other, before they began eating.

After a while of eating, Cadance slammed her hoof on the table “I win!” She licked the sauce off her lips.

Spike's tongue wrapped around his food before chewing and swallowing “Wow, I'm impressed.” He sipped his drink.

Cadance huffed proudly as she sipped her drink. “I knew I had it in me.” She cringed as her face grew a slight green before covering her mouth. “Oh no.”

Spike quickly walked over to her and grabbed her. “Sorry about this.” He teleported into the Canterlot bathroom with her and placed her in front of the toilet.

Cadance quickly vomited into the toilet while Spike held her mane back.

He rubbed her back “There there, just let it all out.”

After she stopped vomiting, she lifted her head up and looked at Spike before smiling. “I'm okay now, you don't have to worry now.”

Spike leaned back and got out a packet of mint gum before giving it to her. “Here, I'll get you a drink of water.” He stood up and walked over to the sink.

Cadance got up “Thanks for the quick save.” She flushed the toilet and was given a glass of water before she drank it. “Note to self: Never eat food too fast.” She got out a piece of gum and chewed on it.

Spike smiled “No problem.” He patted her back “Do you need to lay down or?”

She shook her head “Nope! In fact, I'm hungry. Let's go get some ice cream!” She said as she grabbed Spike's arm.

He looked at her concerned “You sure? What if you vomit again?”

Spike and Cadance were suddenly teleported in front of an ice cream place at the Crystal Empire “I won't.” Cadance giggled before walking him inside.

The place only had a couple of ponies in it who were all elderly except for the staff workers who were mostly very young.

Cadance and Spike walked over to the counter to order their sweet creamy treats. After ordering they walk over to a table with their ice cream and sat down with each other.

Cadance eagerly started eating her ice cream and trembled from the delicious taste. “It's so good!” She giggled before getting a spoonful with gumdrops on it.

Spike crushed up some gems with his claws and sprinkled them on his bowl of ice cream, before he started eating it. “Mm, you're right. It's very good.” He looked over at Cadance who had already finished half of it and was experiencing a brain freeze. “You okay?” He asked with concern in his voice.

Cadance nodded while cringing in pain. “I feel fantastic.” She said before whimpering. “Never felt better.” Her brain freeze slowly went away and she sighed in relief.

She smiled brightly at him. “See? Better already!” She continued eating her ice cream at the same fast pace.

Spike let out a chuckle and continue eating his. “I gotta say, you have quite the likeable character. I can see why a lot love you, Cadance.”

Cadance's ears perked up. “Really? What makes you say that, Spike?” She licked her bowl clean, leaving a few ice cream stains on her face.

Spike grabbed a napkin and cleaned the ice cream off her face. “You're always so happy, outgoing, friendly, you're just a very loving pony.” He smiled a toothy smile. “And you're also very beautiful.”

Cadance blushed heavily and could help but giggle like a goof, which made her blush harder in embarrassment and cover her face with the menu. “Oh gosh, you're making my face burn.” Her smile went to that of a goofy smile.

Spike chuckled and removed the menu from her. “Well it is true.” He leaned back in his chair and crossed his arms. “Don't tell Mum this, but she has competition here.”

Cadance's face burned hotter and turned harder. “Stahp, my face will melt off soon if you continue.” She said as she laid her head down on the table.

Spike finished his ice cream. “Sorry, I'm just a very honest and loving dragon.” He let out another chuckle.

Cadance placed her hooves on her burning red cheeks, feeling the heat of them increase. “You're so kind, it's no wonder you have so many friends and you're incredibly handsome!” She sat up. “I kinda want to kiss you.” Her eyes widen and her face got even hotter.

Spike cocked a brow while smirking. “Do you really want to?” He asked as he leaned in close.

Cadance quickly shook her head while failing her hooves left to right. “No-Not really! I-I meant to said that I uuuuhhh!” She started stammering in her words, figuring out what to say.

Spike let out a laugh and patted her head. “It's okay, calm down there. Random words came out, I understand, it happens to us all.” He patted her shoulder. “Shall we head off?”

Cadance nodded and got off the chair with him. “Yeah let's go, this place is getting chilly.” She walked out of the shop with Spike.

Spike looked around the empire. “Do you wanna head somewhere else or go home?” He looked at her. “I'm pretty easy.”

Cadance tapped her chin and looked around while thinking. “There is an arcade that recently opened up here, wanna go there?” She asked as she looked at him.

Spike smiled at her. “Sure thing! I do love video games.” He said before he followed her to the arcade area and walked inside with her.

Cadance eagerly walked around the place with Spike, looking at every arcade machine. “Oh! Let's play this one!” She ran towards the Pecman machine with Spike following behind her. “I haven't played this game in years!” She put a coin in the machine and started playing, while Spike watched her.

Night slowly came after hours upon hours of the two playing the arcade machines. They walked out of the arcade holding a few things, happily chatting to each other and laughed a few times.

“I still can't believe you managed to grab two prizes from the claw machine on the first go.” Spike said in amazement. “Mother would have used up all her coins and still fail.”

Cadance huffed proudly. “What can I say, I'm amazing.” She giggled as she walked closer to him. “So where else should we go?”

Spike looked up at the night sky and looked at her. “Wanna go get dinner at a restaurant? I'm kinda hungry after the arcade.”

Cadance nodded and wrapped a hoof around Spike's arm. “Same here.” She walked off with Spike. “I know a restaurant that I know you'll love.” She dragged him towards a restaurant.

They walked into the restaurant and got themselves a table, before ordering their food.

Cadance eagerly waited for her food. “Does this place look amazing?” She asked Spike who poured them a glass of wine.

Spike put the bottle of wine down and looked around a bit. “Not half bad. I have seen better looking places, might take you to one of them.” He sipped his drink.

Cadance sipped her glass of wine. “I have been interested in the places you've mentioned.” She looked behind Spike and saw their food coming towards them. “Our food's coming!”

The waiter gave them their food and they thanked the waiter, before the waiter walked off.

Spike started cutting up his steak. “Consider it a date.” He looked up at Cadance's flustered expression and laughed. “I kid, I kid.” He took a bite out of his steak. He had to admit, it was delicious.

Cadance dug her fork into her pasta and ate it, licking the sauce off her lips after she swallowed it. “Mm, this is very good.” She looked up at him. “Don't you agree?”

Spike finished his steak and licked his lips. “I agree with you very much. Might come back here one day.” He finished his glass of wine.

Cadance looked at him amazed at how fast he finished his food. “That was quick.”

Cadance soon finished her dinner and the two walked out of the restaurant after paying. They made their way to the Empire’s water fountain.

Spike sat on one of the fountains benches with Cadance and sighed happily. “Today was quite fun, don't you agree?”

Cadance slowly nodded while in a sleepy daze. “Mmhm, I had a blast.” She rested her head on Spike's shoulder. “We should do it again.” She said before yawning loudly and slowly drifting off to sleep.

Spike smiled while looking at the sleeping mare and gently put her in his arms before getting up. “I suppose it is getting late and you do need your beauty sleep.” He walked towards the castle while humming to her.

Cadance slowly smiling in her sleep and got comfortable in Spike's arms as he walked her inside the warm castle.

The pink alicorn slowly awoke from her slumber and yawned loudly, before sitting up. She looked around her room in confusion. “Strange, I don't remember getting into bed.”

A maid walked into the room holding a tray of food. “Good morning, Princess.” She walked over to her and placed the tray on her lap. “Today's breakfast is pancakes with maple syrup on it and a cup of orange juice. Prince Spike had requested the cooks to make this for you.”

Cadance's eyes sparkled as she looked at the soft and syrup covered stacked pancakes. “How very lovely of him. Thank you.” She looked at the maid. “By the way, did he carry me to bed last night?”

The maid smiled. “He indeed did, he even tucked you in and tidy upped your room.” She placed her hooves on her cheeks while closing her eyes. “He even kissed your forehead, it was adorable. But I gotta say, you are quite the lucky Princess.”

Cadance blushed heavily while eating her breakfast. “Wh-What do you mean by that exactly?” She sipped her drink.

“To be dating such a lovely and handsome dragon, AND he's Princess Celestia's son! Dating him is such a special thing.” The maid said loudly. “Also if he gives you a nickname, that's when he really likes you. That's what I heard from Princess Celestia.”

Cadance blushed even more, but before she could say a thing. The maid excused herself and walked out of the room before giving her a wink. “... But we're not dating… Right?” She cut up a piece of pancake and ate it. “Hopefully only she thinks that and that there aren't any rumors going on about us.”

After she had finished her breakfast, Cadance walked into the royal bathroom and turned the bath up before putting soap in it to make it bubbly. “I should thank Spike when I see him again.” She got in the bath and moaned softly at the warmth of the water. “Mmm, this is nice.”

She grabbed a bottle of body wash and washed her body while humming to herself.

Chrysalis popped out of the water in front of Cadance making her shriek. “Hello!” She giggled while Cadance glared at her. “I heard that you went of a date with that dragon everypony has been talking about.”

Cadance groaned. “We're not dating, we are just hanging out and doing what normal friends do.” She grabbed a bottle of shampoo and poured a bit in her mane, before rubbing it in.

Chrysalis cocked a brow. “Do you love him? Like love love him?” She sat next to her. “You know you can tell me everything.”

Cadance grabbed a bucket and filled it with water. “I mean, I barely know him but he is a very lovely guy.” She smiled and placed her hoof on her cheek. “He's also handsome, very kind, his voice sounds amazing, his eyes are like a shiny emerald, he's understanding and his touch feels great.” She smiled like a goof and even laughed like one.

Chrysalis smirked and nudged her. “You are in love with him! You're the princess of love, you should know this.”

Cadance blushed heavily and looked away. Is she falling in love with him? “I should, but I'm still not certain.” Her ears perked up. “But I do have something that can.” She poured the bucket of water over her, rinsing the shampoo out.

Chrysalis watched with a puzzled look as Cadance got out of the bath and dried herself. “What is it?” She asked before sighing as Cadance left the room. “Damn.”

Cadance ran into her room and towards her drawer before opening it. “It should be here.” She asked herself while going through the drawer. “Aha!” She got out a the potion bottle.

She opened the bottle but hesitated. “Is it really worth it? Is it a mistake? How will i even know that I do love him?” She asked herself. But she gulped nervously and drank a tiny bit of the potion. The taste was quite sweet but had a bitter after taste.

Cadance smacked her lips before blinking a few times. “I don't feel different.” She looked in the mirror. “I don't look different.” She sighed, did the potion work? Did she do something wrong? Maybe she just need to walk around or talk to Spike.

She placed her hoof on her head and groaned, before noticing a string that changed was slowly appeared connected to her chest. “Huh?” She rubbed her chest where the string was, but her hoof went right through it. “This must be the potions doing.”

She walked out of her room and walked around the castle. It appeared that no one had noticed the string on her chest, nor the fact that it grew longer when Cadance walked out of the castle.

Cadance saw the string grow longer very slowly. “I should go to Spike.” She said blankly before blinking a few times and blushing a bit more. “Why did I say that?” She said to herself before flying up in air and flew out of the kingdom.

She soon arrived at Canterlot castle and slowly landed in front of the front door. The string at this point was longer than ever, it made her chest tight for some reason.

She walked into the castle and went to look for Spike, anxiously. While walking, the string tugged on her chest and pulled her towards the royal garden. It made her even more anxious.

She looked down at the string and gasped as it had slowly disappeared. “Nononono.” She thought inwardly while rubbing her chest, but the string disappeared making her sigh. “Damn, must've had a timer.”

She walked into the garden and saw Spike who was watering the plants while talking with Luna. She smiled and walked over to them. “Good morning.”

The two looked over at Cadance. “Good morning!” They both said before Luna nodded and walked off.

Spike looked over at Luna confused but shrugged and smiled at Cadance. “How are you this morning, Candy?” He asked as he put the watering can down and sat down on the edge of the water fountain.

Cadance sat next to him. “Oh I'm doing quite well.” She sat back. “What about you?”

“I'm doing great, woke up feeling refreshed, ate a delicious breakfast and finally managed to water the garden.” He smiled brightly while putting his claws in his pockets. “But my mood has gotten better now that you're here.”

Cadance's face turned red as she snapped her head at him. “Do you really enjoy having me around or do you just love seeing me flustered?”

He let out a chuckle. “Guess you could say it's both. You are adorable when you're flustered.” He looked at her and patted her back. “But enough about that. Wanna head out on out somewhere?”

Cadance’s eyes sparkled and opened her mouth to say something, but was quickly interrupted by a maid walking over to Spike and whispered something to him before walking back inside. Cadance noticed Spike’s disappointed look and frowned. “What’s wrong, Spike?”

Spike blinked and smiled at Cadance. “Oh it’s nothing, just someone I know visiting me.” He stood up and stretched. “Sorry to cut the chat short, Cadance.” He patted her head before walking back into the castle.

Cadance placed her hoof on her head while smiling and giggling before quickly snapping out of it. “Okay I think I have a problem.” She rested her head on her hoof while making a confused pouting face. “I should go see who this pony is.” She hopped off the fountain and walked inside.

She walked over to the throne room where Spike was and saw a beautiful mare who was a unicorn, chatting to Spike while being awfully close to him and by what she heard, flirting. Cadance walked in the room while cocking a brow and stood beside Celestia.

The mare wrapped a hoof around Spike’s arm. “Oh it's so good to see you again, Spikey.” She planted kisses on his cheek. “It's so good to finally touch you.” She rested her head on his chest.

Spike smiled and patted her head. “It's good to see you too, Heather.” He grunted as her grip tightened around him. “Would you kindly let go?”

Heather let go of him and giggled. “Sorry, hun. I'm just happy to see you.” She sighed happily. “Now how about we catch up. I found this lovely restaurant and I think you'll love it!” She walked him out of the throne room.

Cadance tilted her head. “Celestia, may I ask who that mare is? Is she a close friend of Spike?”

Celestia sighed. “Her name is Heather, she's been friends with Spike since kindergarten. After high school, she's consider herself Spike's lover.” She placed her hoof on her head. “I will admit, she's a bit of a nuisance. Always tiring Spike and stopping him from doing what he needs or wants to do. But I can't stop her, Spike looks happy to be around her and Spike's happiness means a lot to me. I will however stop her if his health starts getting bad.”

Cadance frowned. “I'll keep an eye on him if you want. I'll talk with Heather if I notice something off.” She walked out of the throne room and slowly followed the two out of the castle, before turning herself invisible.

Cadance watched them for what felt like forever. Watching Heather walk Spike to look at random stuff, them chatting while having coffee and Heather getting Spike to try that outfits that he obviously didn't like.

Heather walked Spike to the local food market and picked out a few things, with Cadance keeping a close eye on them. She watched Heather happily chat with Spike, glaring at her when she would kiss Spike's cheek.

Heather put the brought food into a picnic basket and dragged Spike towards the forest, Cadance following close behind the. Stopping as they reached an open area of the forest.

“Here we are!” Heather shouted excitedly before placing the basket down on the ground. “A nice and quiet place, just for the two of us.” She sat Spike down with her magic and laid down in front of him.

Spike looked around while smiling nervously. “Yeah, it sure is.” He snapped his head back at her as she sat on his lap, a chocolate covered strawberry in her mouth. “Uh Heather, we talked about this.*

Heather rolled her eyes and ate half the strawberry before putting the other half in Spike's mouth. “Oh it's just a kiss, Spikey. There's no harm in that.” She rubbed his chest. “Are you really going to let your Mother's’ thoughts about me get in the way of our relationship?”

Spike frowned. “Heather, we're not dating each other. I told you that multiple times, there's no us.” He groaned in annoyance as Heather nuzzled his muzzle.

“Oh you're just nervous to admit your love to me, like you were in high school.” Heather got off his lap. “But let's not let denial ruin our appetite.” She opened the basket and got out a bottle of wine with two glasses.

Spike rolled his eyes and proceeded to make the sandwiches. “You're a stubborn one, Heather.” He gave her her sandwich and took a bite out of his.

Heather chuckled to herself as she poured them a cup. “I know I am.” She sipped her wine as she handed Spike his glass. “But that's why I'm so loved.”

Cadance watched from behind the trees, glaring at the unicorn. She was relieved to know that they weren't dating, but seeing a mare like her getting really close to Spike, made Cadance fuming with rage.

The two continued chatting to each other before Heather ‘accidentally’ spilled her drink on Spike. “Oops! Sorry about that, sweetie.” She grabbed a cloth and rubbed Spike's chest, down to his crotch area.

Spike blushed heavily and backed away quickly. “No, it's alright! I know a cleaning spell that'll fix this.” He grabbed the cloth from her. “Thank you though.”

Heather slowly raised her brow “Why need a spell to clean that spot, when you have this.” She pointed at her tongue and grabbed the zipper of Spike's pants.

Cadance's eyes widen at this while noticing Spike's look of discomfort and quickly turned herself visible before running over to them. “Spike!”

Heather immediately stopped and looked up at Cadance in shock. “Princess Cadance!? What are you doing here!?” She sat up and smiled nervously.

Spike quickly stood up and used a spell to clean the stain off his clothes. “Good evening, Cadance! What brings you here?”

Cadance placed a hoof on his shoulder. “Celestia wants you back at Canterlot, something about paperwork or something.”

Spike smiled. “Thank you for telling me, Candy.” He looked at Heather. “Sorry Heather, but the picnic will have to be another day.” He ran off.

Cadance smiled as Spike left and looked at Heather. “Well I better head back to my castle, need to finish a few things.” She flew off.

Heather sat there furious. “The absolute nerve of him! Choosing paper over me! Paper!” She laid down and angrily ate her sandwich. “At least the food is good.”

Cadance flew towards her kingdom. “Celestia was right, she is a nuisance! Attempting that when he obviously doesn't want it!? The nerve of her.” She sighed as she gently landed down and walked into her castle. “Spike sure did look happy when he had paperwork to do.” She giggled as she walked upstairs to her room.

She walked into her room and went on to do her paperwork. “I should check up on him once I'm done with these. I sure hope he's alright.” She rested her head on her hoof while writing. “He seemed pretty exhausted around her, poor thing.”

Cadance shrieked as Chrysalis teleported on her lap making her fall back. “Damn it, Chrysalis!” She pushed her off. “Would you stop!?”

Chrysalis rolled on the floor laughing. “Oh I got you good!” She continued laughing while Cadance stared down at her, unamused.

“You are going to give me a heart attack one of these days, Chrysalis.” Cadance said after sighing and getting Chrysalis up. “What do you want?”

Chrysalis calmed herself down and sighed in relief. “Oh nothing special, other than I saw the that the potion you used failed.” She crossed her hooves. “And I know why.” She smirked.

Cadance blinked a few times. “What do you mean?” She asked. Her eyes widening as Chrysalis got out a knife, making Cadance step back. “Wha-What are you doing, Chrysalis?” She was cornered into the wall, her heart beating like crazy. She clenched her eyes shut as Chrysalis brought the knife closer to her, she felt a slight pinch coming from her chest causing her to look down.

Chrysalis had used the knife to cut a bit of fur off, this calmed Cadance down but she was slightly angry and confused at Chrysalis. “We need your DNA to fully activate the potion!” She chuckled a bit but stopped when Cadance repeatedly hit her arm. “Owowowow! I'm sorry I'm sorry!”

Cadance pouted and crossed her hooves. “You could've just asked me instead if scaring me!” She huffed angrily and walked passed her. “Just show me if this works or not, Chrysalis.” She walked over to her bed and sat on it before getting out the potion.

The black coated mare walked over to Cadance with the bits of fur and opened the bottle before gently putting them in. “And it should change color right about, now!” Like she said, the potion changed from being a clear liquid to a mixture of pink and lavender. “Tada! Now it should work.”

Cadance looked at the bottle and quickly drank a small portion of it, the taste was now quite sweet with no bitter aftertaste. “Taste is different, but.” She looked down and noticed that her chest was glowing a faint red. “Now that is new, can you see that?” She looked up at Chrysalis.

Chrysalis poked Cadance's chest and tilted her head. “Looks like it worked, the way it works should be different now.” She laid Cadance down. “Now relax your body and close your eyes.”

Cadance furrowed her brows but closed her eyes and started relaxing her body. “Okay, my body is relaxed and now the potion should do it's magic.” She inhaled and exhaled.

Chrysalis watched as Cadance's chest glowed brighter and a symbol appeared levitating above her chest. When getting a closer look, it was a symbol of something familiar but it was still fuzzy. “I've seen that before, but where.” Chrysalis crossed her hooves and tapped her chin.

Cadance groaned in discomfort and opened her eyes, causing the effects of the potion to vanish. “Ohhh.” She sat up and held her stomach. “Oh sweet mother of. Did you see anything?” Her face went green and she ran to the bathroom to vomit.

Chrysalis cringed as Cadance vomited and waited until she returned to tell her what she saw. “I probably should've mentioned the side effect.” She watched as Cadance made her return. “You feeling okay?”

Cadance smacked her lips. “Yeah I'm alright now, please tell me what you saw.” Sat sat down rubbing her stomach.

“The image was fuzzy but it looked familiar, cutie mark familiar.” Chrysalis rubbed the back of her neck. “Does Spike have a cutie mark or a tattoo?”

The pink mare blinked a few times before remembering that Spike has a magic birthmark on his chest. “He does actually, Celestia gave him a mark to give him the ability to use magic. The mark is Celestia's cutie mark but purple and on his chest.” She smiled. “Did it look like her cutie mark?”

Chrysalis bit her lip remembering the image and slowly nodded. “I guess it did, maybe.” She smirked and giggled. “Celestia is your soulmate.”

Cadance slowly cocked a brow at her. “Yeah, no. I view Celestia as a friend, not a lover.” She stood up and looked out the window, noticing the moon rising up. “I should have dinner soon. Wanna join me, Chrysalis?” She asked as she turned her head at the bug pony.

Chrysalis responded by shaking her head. “No I'm alright, I met a cute unicorn today and I'm taking her out tonight. I'll introduce you to her later, you two will love each other.” She giggled before hopping out of the room while Cadance waved at her.

Cadance breathed in deeply and exhaled. “At least she's not bothering me with marriage now, that's very good.” She walked out of her room and had dinner, before heading to bed for the night.

A week had gone by and it was an early morning, Cadance eagerly walked over to Spike’s room with a box of chocolates and knocked on his door. Without getting a response, she opened the door and walked in. “Spike, you in he-” She stopped mid-sentence when seeing Heather in the room, reading Spike's research. She angrily marched over to her and snatched it from her. “That's only for Spike to see, Heather. What are you even doing here?” She put the book back where it originally was.

Heather looked up and down Cadance while frowning. “I'm here to spend time with Spike and nothing personal from Spike is ever hidden from me.” She smirked and got up real close to Cadance. “I need to make sure he's not doing anything, naughty.” She looked behind Cadance and stepped back when seeing Spike enter the room, a towel wrapped around his waist.

He looked up and stopped in his tracks when seeing the two in his room, he smiled slightly and laughed. “I wasn't expecting any visitors today, how are you two doing?” He asked before walking towards his closet.

Heather snatched the chocolates from Cadance making her stare at her in shock and anguish while walking over to Spike. “I came here to check up on you, you haven't left the castle for about a week. It started to worry me.” She pouted her bottom lip before levitating the box in front of him and smiled. “I also got you a box of chocolates.”

Spike looked at Heather as he grabbed the box. “Thank you, Heather. It's a nice thought.” He levitated the box on his desk. “But you shouldn't take stuff from others, it's rude.” He walked into the closed to get changed, leaving Heather standing there pouting angrily and Cadance giggling to herself.

After a few minutes, Spike walked out of the closet fully clothed. “Also I'm sorry I haven't been in contact with you two for a while, I've been busy with royal stuff.” He walked over to his desk and grabbed the box of chocolates. “I've also been busy with my research.”

Cadance smiled and nodded. “That's completely understandable, Spike. Finishing up the royal paperwork is quite important.” She walked over to him. “Also how's your research going? Found anything new about them?” She asked in an eager tone.

Spike smiled widely and nodded. “Yes I have, I've found out a secret location thought to be the homes of them. I do plan on going to this location, but.” He sighed sadly. “Royal work.”

Heather got in front of Cadance and placed a hoof on Spike’s chest, rubbing up and down it. “I'll stay and help you, you need the extra help.” She fluttered her eyelids. “What do you say?”

Spike smiled nervously and grabbed her hoof, cupping it. “I appreciate it, but it's a one creature job.” He let her hoof go and looked at Cadance. “Thank you for the chocolates, Candy. The guards told me you had a box with you.” He opened the box and offered them a piece, which they eagerly took.

“Well I hope you two don't mind, but I gotta start on my work. When I'm free I'll come and talk to you two. “ He grabbed a piece of chocolate and ate it before closing the box. “If I don't, I'll get in trouble.”

Cadance nodded and grabbed Heather's hoof with her magic. “Okay Spike, we'll be heading off. Good luck on your work and your research.” She walked out of the room, dragging Heather. “Come now, Heather.” She closed the door behind them and let go of Heather, who didn't look happy.

“Tch. Bloody work always getting in the way, wish he'll get more free time.” Heather snarled to herself before looking at Cadance. “And what were you doing here? Planning taking my precious Spikey Wikey away from me or something?” She walked up really close to Cadance, their muzzles touching but Cadance didn't step back.

The alicorn looked at her is displeasure and huffed at her. “I came to visit him to check up on him and to give him a gift, that's what friends do. I don't plan on taking him away from you, but.” She glared at her, making the unicorn step back. “I will if you start doing something ‘naughty’ to him that'll make him not do what he wants to do, do you understand?”

Heather growled and walked passed her, flicking her tail at her. “I understand.” She huffed angrily while cursing.

Cadance watched her leave before nodding and walking off. “I wonder what Celestia and Luna are up to.” She walked around the castle looking for the two, stopping when stumbling upon a purple unicorn who wore an celestial assistants uniform. “Oh hello there, I don't believe we've met before.”

The uniform blushed and smiled nervously. “Oh good morning, your Majesty!” She bowed before standing back up. “My name is Twilight Sparkle, I'm Celestia’s newest assistant.”

“So you're the assistant I've been talking about, the description was spot on actually. It's a pleasure to meet you, Miss Sparkle.” Cadance smiled while tilting her head. “Do you by any chance know where Celestia or Luna is?”

Twilight quickly nodded. “Yes, they're in the royal garden. I'll take you there, Princess Cadance.” She happily led Cadance to the royal garden, where the two sisters were. “Princess Cadance is here.”

Celestia looked over at the two and smiled. “Good morning, Cadance. Come sit with us.” She poured Cadance a cup of tea.

Luna placed the watering can down and sat with her sister. “Thank you, Twilight. You may now leave.”

Twilight nodded and went to walk off, but fell back screaming when Chrysalis suddenly appeared in front of her. “Damn it, Chrysalis! I told you to stop doing that!”

Cadance helped Twilight up while frowning at Chrysalis. “You even do it to strangers? How cruel.”

Chrysalis chuckled and pulled Twilight close to her. “Oh she's no stranger to me, I've known her for a while now.” She nuzzled Twilight's cheek making the unicorn herself blush.

Cadance blinked a few times. “So this is the lady friend you've mentioned, never thought it'll be Twilight.” She sat with the sisters while looking at the couple. “You two knew about them?” She asked the two sisters.

Celestia sipped her tea while glancing at them. “Yes we do, odd match but oh well.” She looked at Cadance. “So what brings you here, Cadance?” She asked, already knowing the answer.

“I came to checked on Spike, haven't seen him for a week.” Cadance said as she took a sip of her tea. “But since he's working, I'll leave him be.”

The moon princess smirked and rested her head on her hooves. “Aww, you missed your hubby. How cute.” She giggled as Cadance blushed. “Just teasing.”

Cadance rolled her eyes while groaning. “I was just concerned, Luna.” She sat back in her seat. “But other than that I'm happy for him when finding out that he got something new on his current research, it's good news.” She smiled.

Celestia nodded. “Yes, hopefully he finds something that reveals more about them. I'm curious about what they're like.” Her eyes sparkled slightly while giggling like a nerd.

Luna patted her sister's back. “We all are, sister. But finding one that's alive might be difficult.” She cupped her chin. “If they were alive they would've been easier to find, or maybe they're just very good at hiding.”

“Or maybe they have a leader that shielding them from being seen.” Twilight said while keeping Chrysalis a good far distance away from her. “I overheard Spike saying it and if he's right, they might still be around.”

She paced back and forth while cupping her chin. “And if they do have a leader then I wonder if they're a royal blood one that's immortal or they choose the strongest they have as their leader. If so then how strong is the leader and if they have to be a magic user or not. So many fascinating facts to discover.” Her eyes sparkle as many questions went through her head.

The three alicorns looked at Twilight in interest as she continued on her nerdy mumblings, while Chrysalis looked at her smirking.

“You might be onto something there, Miss Sparkle.” Spike said as he walked up to her with his research book and his paperwork.

Celestia frowned and crossed her hooves. “Spike, aren't you supposed to be working?” She cocked a brow at her son.

Spike smiled nervously at his mother. “I am I am, just needed fresh air is all.” He looked at Twilight. “But back to the their leader thing. Of course they would have a leader, all creatures must have a leader. Like how the alicorns or ponies of royal blood are your leader.” He continued mumbling like a nerd with Twilight.

Luna chuckled. “And they're gone.” She looked at Cadance. “Looks like you have a tough competition here, Cadance.” She smirked.

Chrysalis frowned and pulled Twilight close to her. “Oh not on my watch! She's mine!” She glared at Luna. “And plus, Cadance already has her eyes on Spike here.” She gestured to Spike who blushed in response.
Spike looked at Cadance. “Is that true, Candy?” He tilted his head.

Cadance blushed heavily and went to say something but could only get out inaudible mumbles. Luna sighed and decided to talk for her. “Cadance sees you as a great friend, Spike. Chrysalis was just teasing.”

Spike slowly nodded while scratching his cheek. “O-Oh okay.” He cleared his throat. “I better head back inside and finish work.” He turned around and head back inside.

Chrysalis wrapped a hoof around Twilight. “We should head back inside as well.” She dragged the purple unicorn back inside.

Cadance buried her face in her hooves and groaned. “Thanks for the save, Luna.” She rested her head down and continued groaning in embarrassment.

Celestia smiled and rubbed Cadance's back. “What happened there? Never seen you act like that before.”

Luna patted Cadance's back. “Little Cadance here has a crush on your little Spikey Wikey.”

Celestia's eyes sparkled and she held Cadance's hoof. “Is that true, Cadance!?”

Cadance lifted her head up and sighed. “I don't know anymore, I mean I probably do but I'm still not certain.” She held her head. “My speciality is love and stuff, but I guess for my case, I'm not sure for me.”

Luna sat back. “Don't you have a potion that helps you find your soulmate or something?”

Cadance nodded. “I do and it worked, but the answer was fuzzy. The potion maker did mention in the letter that it was the first one she made, so flaws is possible.” She looked at Celestia and noticed her over excited expression. “Are you okay?” She asked nervously.

Celestia got off her seat. “Of course I'm okay, I'm feeling great!” She smiled brightly. “Who would've thought that the children I raised and taught would be a possible couple.” She placed her hooves on her cheeks and giggled like a goof.

Cadance fiddled with her mane. “Celestia please don't get too ahead of yourself. I'm still not sure about it and what if he doesn't like me back!?” She grew worried.

Celestia clapped her hooves together. “You are right! I am getting too ahead of myself.” She rubbed her hooves together. “But don't worry about it, I'm sure he likes you too, he has given you a nickname which is pretty great.”

Cadance blinked a few times upon realizing that he had given her a nickname, she just hadn't figured it out until now. “Yeah, you're right.” She smiled slightly but frowned. “But still, he just view me as a best friend and not a lover.” She rubbed her mane messing it up.

Luna wrapped a hoof around her. “Hey now, calm down. Don't think about it too much, just relax.” She rubbed her back. “Even if he doesn't, you still get to fantasize about it.”

Celestia rolled her eyes. “Or just still hang out with him, but there's nothing wrong with fantasizing.” She shook her head. “But never mind that. Why not go home and relax, think about it later.”

Cadance slowly nodded and got up off her chair. “I will, thank you you two.” She walked out of the royal garden.

Luna looked at her sister after Cadance left and smiled. “You seem awfully happy for her.”

Celestia giggled and sat down with her sister. “I'm just happy for her, I'm happy that she found someone and I'm happy that Spike has an strong interest in someone.” She sighed happily. “But for now, let's leave them be for now.”

Local Canterlot Street

Heather walked around her room, angrily pacing back and forth. “Damn it! Ever since Spike met that damn Alicorn, he has been keeping his distance away from me!” She slammed her hooves onto her desk and huffed angrily. “I will make sure no one gets near my Spikey Wikey.” She looked over at her saddle bag and eyed a bottle that glow a faint pink.

A smirk grew on her face before she chuckled a bit. “Oh I know exactly what to do.” She grabbed the bottle with her magic and started cackling. “I know exactly how to bring my prince closer to me.” She said while waving the bottle around, the label that said ‘love potion’ that nearly dangled off the bottle waved around slightly.

“And when he does, no one will stop us.” She said before giggling like a schoolgirl. “All I have to do wait to talk to him on private.” She placed the bottle down on her desk and hummed.
