Dawning Dew and Morning Glory were sisters. They both took after their mother, Sunburst Stream, and were both artists. They also had a younger sister, who had a knack for magic, Sunset Shimmer. Years ago she had gone of to study with Princess Celestia. But, she had vanished not too long after that. Princess Celestia told them that she was on a journey of self discovery. Today, the two sisters were touching up some murals in the Palace. It used to be that one princess lived here, but now Princess Luna had returned. They worked with skill, and were able to do the job right, and with some speed. During their lunch break, they walked through the palace, to go to the gardens, when they ran into Princess Celestia herself. The mares bowed respectfully to her, and then looked back up at her. "Hello, my little ponies," the princess of the sun said. "Hello, Princess," Dawning Dew said. Morning Glory, however, had to ask the princess a question. "What happened to our sister?" she asked. "Your sister?" Princess Celestia said, looking at the two mares. "Dawning Dew and Morning Glory, if I recall. The sisters of Sunset Shimmer." "Yes, your majesty," Dawning said. "Since you ask, she is doing well," Celestia said in her comforting voice. "In fact, her journey has led her to great things, and she has gone on many adventures. Now, she is helping those in need. You both would be proud of her. She is somepony truly worthy for anypony to be glad to call her their sister. Especially the two of you, since you are her sisters." "Thank you, princess," Morning said, bowing again. "You have no need to bow, Morning Glory," the princess said. "Right now, you are among friends. I was once your sister's teacher, and now she has indeed made me proud." "Thank you," Dawning said, with a smile. "Now, if you would excuse me, I have important business to attend to. I am to prepare for a meeting with the yak ambassador," Celestia said. "Of course," Dawning said, before they parted ways. The two sister's continued walking. "I am glad that she is doing well," Morning said to her sister. "As am I. For a time, she was so anti social, I worried that she would somehow break down at some point," Dew confirmed. "But, now she is helping other ponies. I am so proud of her. I just wish that she would visit sometime, maybe I can get some knowledge of wherever she is now," Morning said. Dawning laughed. "Of course you want gossip. Just make sure that when she does visit, that you don't berate her with too many questions." "Fine. But I cannot wait to hear of her tales of adventure," Morning replied. The girls then continued their day, and finished up the murals. They then decided to visit their mother. After they arrived out their mother's house, they sat down as she made them tea. No matter how much they objected, she always insisted. After telling about what was happening in their lived, Dawning was the one to bring it up. "We ran into the Princess today," she said. "Which one?" her mother asked. "Princess Celestia," Morning answered. "We asked her about Sunset," Dawning admitted. "And what did she say?" "She said that Sunset was doing well," Morning said, with some tears in her eyes. "Oh, Mom, I miss her." "It's okay sweetie, it's okay," Sunburst Stream said in her comforting voice, as she went over and hugged her daughter. "What else did she say?" Dawning was the one to answer, keeping more composed. "She said that Sunset was helping others, Mom. She said that anypony would be proud to call her their sister." "My Sunset, helping others," their mom said with a smile. "Yes, Mom, that's what Princess Celestia said," Morning said through her tears. Tears of joy, liquid pride, filled their mother's eyes. "I am so proud of her," she said. "I am so proud of all of you. All of you, even Sunset, have grown into beautiful mares. Both of you having taken up the family trade, filling other ponies' lives with joy and happiness through the art that you do. And, my sweet little Sunset has turned to helping others. I am so lucky I had you three mares. And now you all are so good in your own ways." Now, all three mares were crying, and had also come together in a group hug, with their mother in the middle. But, not solely from sorrow, but also from joy. Though they had not seen Sunset in a long time, they now all knew that she was helping others, and had embraced joy. Sunburst knew that Sunset must have made friends. She was never truly happy when she was alone. Her sisters always made her feel better. "We love you, too, Mom," Dawning said. "If it weren't for you, none of us would have become half the ponies we are today. You are a great mother, and none of us would have asked for another one, not even Sunset. She loves you, no matter how far away she may be." "I know, sweetheart," her mom said. "I know. Just as I know that she loves the both of you. You both have inspired her in your own ways, though you may not know it. But I know that you have, just as you both have inspired each other, and have inspired me. Family is always together in your heart, even though they may be separated through great distances. Even death cannot truly separate us." The three mares dried up their tears and smiled at each other. They then hugged again. "I never lost hope for her. I always knew that she was destined for great things, that all of you are destined for great things. Great in your own special ways," their mother finished up. All was well with them, and they all loved each other, through anything that they might go through.
