> My Soft Side > by TehSpy1 > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > Snuggling > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Rainbow Dash sighed happily as she entered her house for the first time today. She stretched out her hind legs, and trotted up the stairs. As she approached the door, a smirk crept onto her face. "Home, sweet home." She murmured to herself. She opened her door, revealing the mess that was her room. Comic books - mostly consisting of Daring Do - were scattered around the floor, along with her wonderbolts uniform lazily tossed in the corner. Rainbow had gotten used to it, though, and it was the place she sought comfort in after a hard day's work. With little hesitation, she flopped onto her bed and let out a happy sigh of both relief and contentment. As she nuzzled into her pillow, taking in its comforting softness, an idea formed in her head. Dash jumped off the bed and trotted over to her bedside drawers. After a few seconds of rummaging through the drawer that consisted mainly of old Daring Do comics and random junk she cared little for, the Pegasus pulled out her favourite unicorn plushie and smiled. She walked back over to the bed, pulling the covers over her body. Rainbow snuggled into her plush, letting out a sigh as she closed her eyes. To her dismay, however, she heard a knock at the door. Without thinking, she quickly threw the plush toy under the covers and let out an exaggerated moan of annoyance. She walked down the stairs. "Who is it? Because I swear if it's those ponies who sell the stuff at the door again, I'm going to- oh... Twilight..." Twilight struggled to hold in a small laugh. She instead settled for smiling and shaking her head slightly. "Sorry to turn up at such short notice, Dash. I thought I'd come visit you. That is... if you're not too busy, of course. I was quite bored in the library so I thought I'd come to your house." Now it was Dash's turn to laugh. "You? Bored around books? Where's the real Twilight?? What have you done with her?!" Rainbow jokingly said, chuckling slightly "Alright, Twi, you can come in. But my room is in such a state. Don't say I didn't warn you." Twilight just nodded in response and followed Rainbow up to her room, stealing occasional glances at her whenever she could. As Dash opened the door to her room, Twilight was surprised at the amount of mess that was scattered around the room, and it was apparent to Rainbow. "Well, I did say." she said, shrugging and smiling a little. Twilight looked around the room, observing it. She had noticed some sort of strange lump underneath Dash's covers. She pointed a hoof to it, and queried her friend. "What's that lump underneath the bed, Dash?" Without thinking, Rainbow blurted out an answer. "A comic! A large comic! I thought that we could read It together!" She said, before quickly stumbling on her words "Not like, together! I just wanted to read it, like... by myself. But... um.. yeah." Twilight stood there for a few seconds, taking the sudden and quite frankly strange answer Rainbow had given her. She offered a puzzled and confused look at Dash. "Dash, I know you're lying. For the record, you're a horrible liar." Twilight laughed. Dash knew she had been caught, but still didn't admit anything. "Me? Liar? Pfft... no, not me! I tell the truth all the time" Dash said, before seeing the look that Twilight was giving her. "Right... maybe not... all the time... but most!" Twilight trotted over to the lump in the bed and lifted up the covers, revealing an - admittedly quite cute - unicorn plush toy. Twilight was confused by this. Dash was never one to have much of a soft side, let alone plush toys... "No! Don't look at that! I... I'm keeping it for a friend! FlutterDash- I mean shy! Yeah!" Twilight simply gave Rainbow an unamused look. She sat down on her bed and patted beside her, silently offering for Dash to sit next to her. Hesitantly, she did so, keeping an eye on Twilight in the process. "It's not a big deal, Dash. I'm just surprised, is all. I'm not judging you." "So... you don't... hate me...?" Rainbow asked, averting her gaze to the floor and fiddling with her hooves. Twilight Chuckled and shook her head. "Why would I hate you? We're friends, Dash. Nothing's going to change that, especially not just a cuddly toy!" Rainbow breathed a sigh of relief and leaned her head back, closing her eyes. "I... have some other secrets, too... I just... you might think I'm weird or something." Twilight shook her head and smiled at her warmly, beckoning her to continue. "I know this is really weird and all, but... I like... you know... s-snuggling...? Ugh, I'm so weird, I'm sorry..." Twilight shook her head for the second time. "Dash! You're not weird!" Twilight exclaimed, pulling Rainbow into a tight embrace. This hug, however, felt a lot different to Rainbow. It was not much like any other hug they had shared before. This one seemed to have more passion and emotion in - more meaning. The Pegasus hugged back tightly, silently thanking whatever higher powers were at work - if any - that her friend's opinion on her had not changed. Twilight smirked as an idea popped into her head. She lied down on her bed, opened the covers and motioned for Rainbow to lie next to her. A red blush appeared on Dash's muzzle as she realized what her friend was implying. "A-are you sure...?" Rainbow asked uneasily, which was out of character for her. "You said you liked snuggling didn't you?" Twilight responded. Rainbow nodded timidly and climbed into bed with Twilight. The warmth in the bed - although unfamiliar to Rainbow - provided her with a sense of security. She felt safe next to Twilight. Rainbow felt hooves wrap around her, and Twilight's forehooves curl around hers. Twilight's warm breath on her neck made her shiver slightly. She found herself snuggling into Twilight almost against her will. But she didn't even care anymore. All the mattered to her was the alicorn beside her. She turned to face Twilight, and nuzzled into her neck, inhaling her scent. She heard Twilight giggle beside her and sigh happily. "I've never seen this side of you, Rainbow. But I'm not complaining." She simply responded by nuzzling deeper into her fur and letting out a small happy sigh of her own. "Well get used to it, Twi. We're doing this more often." She said Twilight laid her head on top of her friend's, and closed her eyes. "I love you Rainbow..." Twilight murmured. Her eyes shot open. "H-huh?" Twilight looked down at Dash. "I love you." Before Rainbow Dash could say anything more, she felt Twilight's lips collide with hers. She was frozen for a few seconds, but eventually gave into her instincts and kissed back. It was hesitant at first, but eventually Rainbow had built up her confidence and she kissed back just as passionately. Eventually, though, they had to part for air. Panting, Rainbow finally responded back. "I... I love you, too, Twi..." Rainbow leaned back in for a kiss, and Twilight closed the gap. They both fell asleep mere minutes later, embracing each other as they fell into a slumber together.
