New Kid

It was typical weekday morning for Sunset Shimmer, she was tired. Waking up early is a bitch and a half, but she stopped complaining and got herself some waffles. Waking up at 6 am does a lot to a kid's mental capabilities, yet Sunset manages it every single week. Might be her brains, pony Twilight will most likely agree. It's all fine and dandy, today's going to be another normal Wednesday.

Sunset had just walked into Canterlot High School, everything seems to be going as planned, in terms of a normal day. She walks down the hall to arrive at her homeroom, but she spots someone. Someone she has never seen before, he looked to be CMC's age and height. He stuck out like a sore thumb, his blonde hair shined in the whole hallway, and his bright blue eyes glistened through the gigantic building. He wore a strange orange jumpsuit with some blue coloring, which matched his headband.

He held a schedule, he must be a new kid. Sunset shrugged, he didn't seem to be too much concern to her. There was something odd about him though, he was smiling and giggling to himself. Who could be happy on a Wednesday? Let alone, being a new kid in a school you barely knew. It was rather strange, in her opinion.

Sunset killed her train of thought and went into her homeroom, she doesn't do much in homeroom, but the kids you were stuck with homeroom had the same schedule. Thankfully, all of her friends were in here. It was going to be another boring day. Wait! What is that kid in the hallway doing here!? Is he in the right class? The teacher sat up and escorted the boy to the front.

"Class, we are having a new student. Introduce yourself, young man." She said with a stern tone, Mrs. Brimstone was a tough cookie.

"Okay! My name is Naruto Uzumaki!" He proclaimed, very loudly. Sheesh, so much for ears...

"I'm from a village hidden in the leaves." What village? She couldn't remember any local villages around and with a name that he has, he must be foreign. Mrs. Brimstone directed him to an empty seat, which was the empty seat next to Sunset. This was a weird set of events, to think a kid half her size was in her class was a little peculiar.

Naruto sat down and pulled out a notebook, there were many crude drawings scribbled through the pages. There were multiple times he wrote; 'I'm going to be a next Hokage!' In some pages. Sunset looked up at the nearest friend, which was Rainbow, and gave her a confused look. Rainbow only gave her a shrug that said, 'I don't know, bond with him.' Super helpful, Rainbow...

Naruto kept smiling until he reached a page, it seems like he wrote a small note; 'I broke my promise...' Naruto frowned, Sasuke had left the village to pursue more power. Everything he tried to do for him failed, Sasuke was gone and he had to accept it. It wasn't 'okay', everything was bad and his friend was in danger. Naruto closed his notebook and turned to Mrs. Brimstone's attention, homeroom was over and the lesson was starting. This boy was a special one.

Gym class started and Sunset was in her gym clothes. Naruto had been placed on her team, while Rainbow, Applejack, and Pinkie were on the other team. Twilight wanted to sit out, same with Fluttershy. Rarity just didn't want her face to be ruined, typical Rarity. The students would be playing a game of dodgeball, the most intense and classic gym games around. Both teams got into their spots, and the game had begun.

Naruto ran for the closest ball he could find, he never played anything like this before, but he got the general grasp of the game. Naruto got a ball and booked to the end line. Sunset grabbed a ball and managed to get someone out, it was satisfying. Naruto makes a hand sign with a ball wedged in his arm, what was he planning?

"Shadow Clone Jutsu!" He called. Suddenly, there were two Narutos! What kind of shenanigans was this?

"What kind of magic is that?" Sunset said to particularly no one. Naruto handed the clone the ball and grabbed his feet, he launched him across the room. The clone burst into a cloud of mist, the ball was the only thing that emerged from the mist. A boy on the other team was confused from Naruto's trick, only to see a ball charging at him, like a bull. The boy was socked right in his stomach and was on the floor dazed, he trudged from the ground and took a seat on the benches. Rainbow Dash was impressed, how that kid did that went right over her head, but he could be a nice challenger.

After a few minutes, only Naruto was left on his team. His teammates repeatedly told him to catch a ball, but he had other plans. His knuckleheadedness got the better of him, only Dash and Pinkie stood in front of the blonde.

"Hey kid, you should just call 'its quits'." Rainbow sneered, but Naruto wasn't having any of that bullshit. Instead, he did the exact opposite.

"No way, I'm not going to do that!"

Rainbow chuckled, she liked this kid's tenacity. Pinkie suddenly slung a ball in Naruto's direction. Naruto chakra dashed away from the ball and threw a ball of his own. This got Pinkie Pie's right knee to be hit, Pinkie let out an "aww," in disappointment and skipped her way to the benches. For the next few minutes, dodgeballs were flung and dodged. Naruto was having a blast, this could be useful for his ninja training. Rainbow Dash was tired from all the running she had been doing but was giving 110% against Naruto, but this wasn't enough to stop the blonde.

Rainbow was hit straight in the face, Naruto had put a lot of force in his last throw to end the game. Rainbow was eliminated and Naruto's team had won.

The 'Mane 7' approached Naruto after school, it had been an interesting day for Naruto and he was bone tired. Sunset had walked up to the bright young man, he gave off a warming and welcoming feeling, which surrounded the whole area around him.

"Hey, I'm Sunset Shimmer. I'm the girl you sit next to in homeroom,"

"Oh! I'm Naruto!" He said while fixing his headband.

"Yeah, um... About that stunt, you pulled in gym class." Sunset sheepishly gave a smile to Naruto.

"What kind of magic were you using?" Naruto looked at Sunset like she had four heads. Magic? he wasn't using magic, it was chakra.

"Magic? Pfft, I just used my chakra!" Naruto said with a dumb smile on his face.

"Chakra? what's that?" Sunset was very confused.

"WHAT!"

"You don't know what chakra is?!" Naruto threw his arms up in astonishment. This school he was going to was a wacky place to be attending. The chakra levels around the place weren't non-existent, yet they were in small amounts. It wasn't any problem for the blonde, seeing how he was able to use his chakra just fine, but it is a little alarming.

"No, I've never heard of chakra before. But I do know some magic." Sunset wasn't sure if this boy was insane, or not. But he did do some weird technique he called 'shadow clone Jutsu', maybe he is right, she can't make assumptions about something she doesn't understand.

"Chakra is like an energy that comes from nature. It is essential for every living thing, at least I think that how it's explained," Naruto let out a sigh. "I could never remember what Sakura exactly said that day."

"Oh, I guess that answers my questions somewhat." Sunset pondered to herself. Were her questions answered? He didn't make a direct response, the kid is strange in all the right ways.

"Anyway! I'm gonna head back home--" Naruto started walking back, realization took over him in an instant. Sunset was only perplexed.

"Dammit, I forgot! I don't have anywhere to live, how come Grandma Tsunade never warned me about this!?"

"Wait, did you just arrive here today?" Sunset asked.

"Of course I did! Tsunade told me that this was going to be a long mission. She sent me by some teleportation Jutsu." Mission? Like a ninja mission?

"You can stay with me if you want to." Sunset didn't know why she was letting some hyperactive kid into her apartment room, but she kinda liked him. It was a valid reason.

"Really? Thanks, lady!"

*****

"Wow! This reminds me of my apartment." Naruto looked around in the dimly lit apartment, the kitchen area was sorta big and the rooms seemed to be moderately sized. Yep, Naruto felt like he was home. Sunset raised one brow.

"You live in an apartment too?" Sunset asked

"Yeah! I don't have any parents to look after me, so I live in a cozy apartment." Sunset Shimmer was confused, how could a kid this young have an apartment? Wait, did he say he has no parents?

"Wait, you don't have any parents?"

"Nope!" Naruto stated, with his happy nature not faltering.

"I don't have any parents either," Sunset said to particular no one. She never had parents in Equestria or here, she had always lived alone. Always been alone. Sunset stared at the ceiling for what seems to be eons, not noticing that Naruto had jumped on the couch with a loud slam. The blonde was a lot like Sunset, yet different in so many ways.

"Say, Sunset. I'm super hungry... What kind of food do you have?" Sunset's focus was shattered into a million pieces, Sunset took off her shoes and walked to the kitchen. She sifted through the cabinets, she could only find ramen noodles. It was the packet ones and not those disgusting noodle cups. She shuddered at the thought of having to eat those again.

"I have ramen, we could make that together." Naruto launched off the couch and ran straight into the kitchen, almost slamming into Sunny in the process.

"Ramen?! I love ramen!" Sunset looked at the energetic boy, he was a ball of energy.

"Oh, really? I don't know how good it is for you, but hopefully, the stuff that we have here will be a good substitute."

"I'm sure it will be great, any form of ramen is good in my book." Naruto gave a thumbs up to Sunset, not knowing how to react, she smiled.

The two foolish roommates had prepared a huge batch of ramen. Sunset did this on purpose, the girls were coming over for dinner. The whole thing was kinda planned on the spot, but everything should go according to plan. Naruto wasn't informed of this information yet, but I'm sure he'd want to meet the girls anyway. He got to know a little about Rainbow Dash from that dodgeball game, which was really fun, she had a very tomboyish attitude. She purposed a battle with Naruto, to only lose ten minutes later... Applejack would never shut up about it, afterward.

"Oh, Naruto. I forgot to mention, all my friends are coming over for dinner in a few minutes." Naruto was drooling over the dinner he had helped to create, he was ready to eat it right there and now. But Sunny interjected, making Naruto somewhat sad.

"Okay," Naruto sat back down on the couch. His ramen addicted stomach was about to implode, he needed some ramen quick. Naruto heard a knock at the door, he rolled off the couch in preparing to meet Sunset's friend.

"Coming," Sunset walked over to the door and opened the darn thing, Applejack peeked in the door holding a somewhat big crate.

"Hi, sugar cube. I have the cider." The other girls leaked into the apartment, Rainbow noticing a familiar boy from gym class.

"Hey, it's that new kid! What's he doing here?" Rainbow asked.

"He didn't have a place to go, so I let him stay here." Sunny responded. Rainbow gave a few glances at Naruto, which he did not notice or acknowledge.

"You girls ready for food?"

Sunset Shimmer had put all the ramen bowls on her bigass table, which in turn let Naruto run for the table. Rainbow Dash was surprised at how fast the blonde could run, but she was always faster. Everyone was sitting at the table, they were a little shocked. The ramen looked great, they figured it would be a simple packet of ramen and that's all. Nope, there were some rice cakes, a half boiled egg, and some pork. Sunset didn't have any meat in hers (she is a vegetarian, after all) it still tasted amazing though. The broth was perfect, and the noodles complemented the ingredients.

"Wow, Sunset. This is great," Twilight said while gulping the rest of her meal.

"Thanks, Twilight." Twilight blushed a little, causing her to fix her glasses. "But it wasn't all me, Naruto helped out too."

Everyone had finished their dinners. Naruto basically informed them about his ninja training, they seemed to take it well. They all grabbed their belongs and traveled out the door, with saying goodbye of course. I'd be rude not to say goodbye.

Naruto pictured the meetup to be a bit longer, like a sleepover. But it is only a Wednesday, so it was bound to happen. Naruto looked at the clock, it was 7:45. He was bone tired and ready for bed, his body ached as he walked and Sunset also felt sluggish, she stumbled around for a bit. Naruto crashed on the couch and fell asleep faster than Sunset could count, the blonde didn't even mutter a single word. It was unlike him.

Sunset felt guilty of thinking about this, but she was curious. Sunset had placed her hand on the boy's head, his slumber still continued, but she went inside his memories.

She saw Naruto, but as a little kid. His eyes were puffy, tears streaming down his face, the villagers hated him. It was something that wasn't his fault, he never wanted to be the host of a demon. Sunset looked at the villagers, they were all scared of something they didn't understand, yet they still proceed to make the blonde suffer. Just like how the students were scared of her, but she made them fearful of her. She felt something deeper though, something of greater evil.

Sunset Shimmer had left her trance, her body staggered from the awful memories she had embraced. She limped across the room to enter her bedroom, she wasn't feeling great. She took off her leather jacket and light sky dress, but the socks still stayed. Her body felt snug in her PJs, it was wonderful.

Sunset woke up, in a pool of her sweat

gross...

"Shi-t!" Sunset felt her forehead, her noggin was warm. Her fingers interlaced with the heat, she felt like garbage. What time was it? whatever, she should get ready for school. Sunset tried to get up but failed, she fell to the ground. Naruto heard the slam and woke up from his sleepy prison, he got up and when into Sunset's room.

"Sunset, what the hell are you doing? It's 4 o'clock-" Naruto looked at Sunset, she was trying desperately to get up. She clenched her stomach, sweat was dripping from every inch of her body. Sunset felt something crawling from the back of her neck, it was throw up. Sunset made a puddle of partially eaten ramen and other disgusting bile from her stomach, she was so confused.

"Oh, crap! Sunny, you have a fever!"

"Great observation, Naruto *heck* *gech* *ech*. Shit..." Naruto walked over to Sunny, grabbed her marital style, and put her back in her bed.

"Me and you are gonna have to take off, so that's gonna suck,"

"Wait, why do you have to take off?" Sunset looked at the blonde, dumbfounded (Also, nice grammar).

"I have to take care of you, dummy." The blonde smiled, he just came to a new school and he's taking off the next day. All because of a silly girl, Naruto sure has strange taste in women.

"Fine, I guess I can't go to school. I mean, I'm a ball of sweat right now,"

"So it makes sense, somewhat."

Naruto looked around for any medicine, he shifted through cabinets. Naruto suspected she had a fever but wasn't so certain, he found a small plastic bottle. It read 'Residence for fevers!' with a pill mascot. He thought it was the dumbest looking thing he had ever seen, but he took it over to Sunset. He put the medicine on a spoon.

"Look, I found some medicine for you!" Sunset was sweating harder, she didn't know why she felt so warm. Naruto fed her the medicine. She grimaced, her tastebuds never hated her more after tasting that garbage. Shit, this is turning out to be an awful day.

"Hey, Naruto. Thanks for helping me out," Sunset groaned in pain, mainly from the sickness. "It means a lot."

"Oh! It's no biggie, besides I'm just returning the favor."

Sunset was very thankful, she was remembering the memories she saw yesterday. How could a kid be hated by an entire village? He is so kind, he was willing to just be here for Sunny. It's very shitty, she knows the feeling.

It's all too awful.
