> Fluttershy's First Date > by StormLuna > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > Trip to the Dentist > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- A Frustrating Morning Another day had arrived in Ponyville and like it is every other morning, Fluttershy was not woke up by the sun, but by Angel pulling on her tail demanding that he be fed. She was still quite tired and while this had began to irritate her, she still got up to feed her pet rabbit. While she fed most of her animals pellets, she always had to give Angel what amounted to a full salad, and that was not always cheap. Unfortunately that morning, Fluttershy did not have quite as much in the way of leafy things as normal so when she gave him what she had left, he was not thrilled. He developed a scowl on his face and yanked on her tail, causing her to gasp in shock, "Angel bunny, that is all I have left." He began stomping his hoof on her leg causing her to continue, "Angel, I'll get you more while I'm out and about but I have to see the dentist so I don't know how much I can afford." He gave her a deep scowl and again yanked on her tail, only harder this time. She sighed, "Alright Angel, I'll get you as much as I can." Angel let out a grunt like he always does in situations like this which caused Fluttershy to eat her breakfast a bit more quickly than normal and head out to the market before going to the dentist. Once she finished her breakfast, she grabbed her reusable grocery bag and headed out the door. Trip to the Dentist As Fluttershy headed towards the market, she held her head low as she felt embarrassed that morning. She felt like she had no control over her life and was beginning to get frustrated with Angel and his behavior. She sighed to herself, "Why do I always cave in to him? I know I shouldn't cave in like this but I don't want him to starve." When she arrived at the market, she headed to the various stands and like it always seemed to be, ponies would cut in line and laugh as she would sometimes wind up having to get the last of a certain item or wind up having to go to another stand where the same product was a bit more expensive. By the time she had bought everything she needed for Angel, she had spent nearly twice as much as she had hoped and most likely did not have enough to pay the dentist up front. She sighed, "All I can do is hope Dr. Colgate will take payments." When she headed into the office she was immediately greeted by a mint green unicorn with gold eyes, "Hi Fluttershy, how are you doing today?" Fluttershy was not doing as well as she normally was but did not want to address her problems to an acquaintance so she lied, "Oh I'm doing good. I'm just here for my appointment at eleven." Given that it was a very slow day and Fluttershy was the only patient scheduled until that afternoon, Lyra thought that perhaps Colgate would take her back early. She replied, "It's a slow day so let me run back and see if she will take you in early." Fluttershy nodded as Lyra ran back. She found Colgate sitting there on her computer checking the prices of more advanced whitening agents. Lyra said, "Sis, we have a patient who arrived early for her appointment and I thought that since you have nopony else scheduled for a while that maybe you could take her back early." Colgate's ears shot up. If there was one thing that she valued, it was ponies who showed up early. She replied, "Alright, let me go out and get her." Lyra returned to her desk and Colgate headed out to the waiting room. She gave her a warm smile and said, "Fluttershy, it is good to see you, come on back." Fluttershy grabbed her grocery bag and began to follow her back. Colgate turned around and frowned, "Fluttershy, you can't bring your groceries back with you, it would violate health code regulations." Fluttershy asked, "But what if somepony was to steal them?" Colgate looked over at Lyra and asked, "Lyra, could you keep her groceries with you? Fluttershy is worried that somepony may steal them." Lyra grabbed her bag in her aura and replied, "Of course I can!" Once Lyra had her bag, Colgate led Fluttershy back and got her sat down in the chair. Fluttershy had always been a bit nervous going to the dentist and despite her being friendlier than other dentists she had seen in her life, Colgate still kind of scared her. Colgate saw the nervous look in her eyes and said, "Fluttershy, you know the drill." Fluttershy gulped before opening her mouth. When she opened her mouth, the dentist would not be pleased with what she saw. While Colgate did a much better job of hiding her displeasure than she did when she first got into dentistry, her eyes still gave her away. Colgate continued to examine her teeth and asked, "Fluttershy, how often do you brush?" Fluttershy replied, "Once a day, right before I go to bed." Colgate sighed, "Well that would explain the thin layer of plaque on your teeth and would explain why it looks like you're developing gingivitis as well." Fluttershy asked, "You're not mad at me are you?" She became more paranoid and continued, "Please don't be mad at me!" Fluttershy's case of gingivitis was mild and was in its earliest stages, despite being displeased, she was really more disappointed than anything else. She replied, "I'm going to admit, I'm not pleased and I'm not mad at you but I am disappointed like I am with patients with your problems." Fluttershy asked, "So what is wrong?" Colgate replied, "Well you have a thin layer of plaque on your teeth and you are beginning to develop gingivitis." Fluttershy developed a nervous look on her face prompting Colgate to continue, "It's nothing serious. I'll clean your teeth today and I would also advise you get anti-bacterial toothpaste and anti-bacterial mouthwash." Fluttershy said, "But I can't......" Colgate interrupted, "And it would be best if you brush your teeth three times a day and rinse your mouth in the morning and at night before you go to bed." Fluttershy said, "But I can't afford all that. I spent most of my money today on food for Angel...." Colgate interrupted, "Who?" Fluttershy continued, "My bunny Angel. He is a very picky eater and I'm going to be honest, I don't know if I even have enough to pay you after going to the market this morning." This was something that always frustrated Colgate and in many instances, made her angry. As she looked at Fluttershy and saw a more nervous look developing on her face, she just couldn't be angry with the pegasus. Colgate also saw this as an opportunity to liven up her normally mundane life. She said, "It's alright Fluttershy, we can make payment arrangements or if you do one little thing for me, not only will I write your bill off, but I will give you the toothpaste and mouth wash you need for free." Fluttershy's ears perked up when she heard this. She was curious as to what it was that Colgate would want her to do but figured that it couldn't be anything too bad. She asked, "What is it you want me to do?" Colgate replied, "If you will go out to supper with me tonight at the cafe, I'll write all this off." Fluttershy protested, "But I don't have the money to......" Colgate interrupted, "Don't worry about that, it is on me." When Fluttershy realized that she would not have to pay for her supper, she developed a smile on her face. While she had never had thoughts like this before, she did find Colgate attractive and realized that this would be a good opportunity to do something for supper other than her usual meal at home and dealing with Angel's disapproving looks. She replied, "Yeah, I'll go out to supper with you. What time do you want me to meet you?" Colgate replied, "Don't worry, I'll come to your place and we can walk there together." Fluttershy asked, "So what time?" Colgate replied, "How about six?" Fluttershy nodded yes and Colgate continued, "Alright, lets get these teeth of yours cleaned and then I'll get you everything you need." Fluttershy nodded and opened her mouth so that Colgate could clean her teeth. Colgate was pleased that Fluttershy did not have much in the way of plaque so cleaning her teeth was relatively easy and quick. Once she had them cleaned, Colgate grabbed what she promised to Fluttershy and led her up front. Colgate gave her a smile and asked, "See you tonight?" Fluttershy returned the smile and replied, "Yes, see you tonight at six." As Fluttershy headed out the door, Colgate couldn't help but have a smile on her face. This caused Lyra to become curious because her sister never just let patients leave without paying, much less giving them full sized tubes of toothpaste or full sized bottles of mouthwash. She gave her sister a curious look and asked, "Sis, what is up with all that? You've never done this for anypony and what in Equestria is up with the smile?" Colgate replied, "Uh, well...." Lyra gasped, "Colgate, do you have a crush on Fluttershy?" Colgate continued to be at a loss for words as Lyra began to sing, "Colgate and Fluttershy sitting in a tree, k-i-s-s-i-n-g!...." Colgate interrupted, "Lyra, it's not like that but I am taking her out to supper tonight." Lyra giggled, "No crush huh? Whatever Colgate, whatever!" Colgate blushed and headed into the back. She didn't want to admit it to anypony, especially Lyra given how she reacted but she did find Fluttershy attractive and did want to get to know her better. While she knew that the chances of anything developing between them were next to zero, she figured it would be worth a chance. > Sharing the Good News > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- After leaving the dentist's office, Fluttershy did not rush home to feed Angel, instead she headed over to Sugarcube Corner to tell her friends about the good news. She bounced in the door more like Pinkie would and when she saw her friends she exclaimed, "Guess what girls, I have a date tonight!" All five of them gasped, "What?" Fluttershy repeated, "I have a date tonight!" The first one to give her a positive reaction was Rarity. She rushed to her and shouted, "Congratulations darling! So who is the lucky stallion?" Fluttershy replied, "It's not with a stallion. Colgate and I are going out for supper tonight!" Again they all gasped, "Colgate?" Rainbow added, "Wait, wait, wait. Are you telling us that you have a date with Colgate, as in Colgate the dentist?" Fluttershy replied, "Yes and she's going to pay!" While Rarity still appeared to be happy for her, her other four friends couldn't help but be a bit concerned. Rainbow commented, "Something doesn't seem right here, the Colgate I know won't spend one bit on anything she deems unnecessary." Twilight asked, "Fluttershy, what would prompt you two to go out on a date." Her eyes grew wide as she continued, "You don't owe her something do you? Is she making you do this to pay off a debt or something?" Fluttershy replied, "Well I couldn't afford my bill today so she said if I went out with her, she'd write off the debt." Rainbow had a scowl on her face and stated, "Figures." She then turned to Fluttershy and continued, "This is nothing to be excited about. She probably just wants somepony to eat supper with other than her sister and saw this as her chance." Most of Fluttershy's friends had looks of doubt on their faces and this brought Fluttershy down but one would not. Rarity was not thrilled with their reactions and said, "Fluttershy, don't let them get you down. Colgate did offer to pay so she must want to get to know you better." Fluttershy's eyes lit up as she asked, "You truly think so?" Rarity replied, "Of course I do darling." She got up and continued, "Come on Fluttershy, we need to find you something appropriate for your first date!" Fluttershy nodded and followed Rarity out the door. Once they were gone, her friends continued their speculation. Applejack asked, "I know Colgate said she would pay but y'all don't think she has other plans for Fluttershy, not so pleasant plans?" Twilight replied, "I don't think she has any bad plans. I do have my concerns that Fluttershy is hoping for something special between the two but Colgate will simply take this as a favor, write off her debt and go on with her life." Pinkie added, "Yeah, she doesn't remind me of the relationship type." Rainbow finished, "Well if she hurts Fluttershy's feelings, we'll have to go and kick some serious flank!" Twilight glared and Rainbow and replied, "No, we will not kick any flank but we will be there for Fluttershy, alright!" Rainbow sighed, "Oh alright." While their friends were speculating about why Colgate would take Fluttershy out on a date, Fluttershy and Rarity arrived at the boutique to discuss what she should wear for this. Fluttershy asked, "Rarity, you've been out on dates before, what do you wear?" Rarity asked in return, "Fluttershy darling, now is this really just to clear off a debt or is this a legitimate date?" Fluttershy replied, "She said it was to forgive my debt but there was something different about her. She gave me a smile and even said she'd come and get me so that we could walk to the cafe together!" This surprised Rarity. She asked, "So let me get this straight, she's not going to make you pay, she is going to come and get you AND she gave you a smile even though you couldn't pay?" Fluttershy blushed, "Yes, she is." Rarity got a huge smile on her face and suggested, "You know, you might want to dress a little bit nicer because I have a feeling that she has a crush on you Fluttershy. The Colgate I know would frown and threaten to sue you over not being able to pay, not treat you to dinner and she certainly wouldn't come to get you." Fluttershy asked, "So something like a nice shirt and a skirt?" Rarity replied, "Actually yes. It says that you want to look nice but that you're not trying too hard." She knew that Fluttershy had nice shirts but had never seen her in any skirts so she decided to find out what kind of skirt would be the best. She continued, "Fluttershy, what color of shirt do you plan on wearing?" Fluttershy replied, "Uhm, well I don't know what would look good." Rarity led Fluttershy to where she had her skirts. She pointed to the black ones and suggested, "Well if you was to decide on a white shirt, I'd go with a black skirt." Fluttershy asked, "Do you think I should go with that?" Rarity replied, "Actually yes darling, I do. It would look nice and it wouldn't be screaming 'I'm desperate.'" Fluttershy looked at herself in a mirror and tried to think of how she would look in what Rarity was suggesting and thought that she would look good so she decided to go with that. She asked, "Rarity, how much would I owe...." Rarity interrupted, "Fluttershy darling, just take it! Don't worry about paying me and besides, I want you to look your best for your first date!" Fluttershy hugged her and exclaimed, "Oh thank you Rarity! You have no idea how much this means to me!" Rarity replied, "Oh no problem at all Fluttershy." She looked up at the clock and noticed that it was four in the afternoon. She pointed towards the door and continued, "Now you better get going so you can get ready! You want to look your best!" Fluttershy nodded and headed out the door. As she headed home she was happier than she had been in a long time. For so long she had been a bit envious when Rarity would wind up going out on dates and wish she had somepony to go out with and very soon she would be the one going out on a date, her first date. > Date Preparations > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Several hours had passed since Colgate saw Fluttershy and the time to close up for the day had arrived. Colgate was wanting to get everything taken care of much quicker than normal, which was very unlike her since she usually liked to stay late and make sure everything was ready for the next day. Her sudden rush to get going brought out some curiosity in Lyra. She asked, "Colgate, what is up with you wanting to get out of here so quickly? You never want to just get out of here so quickly!" Colgate replied, "Remember Lyra, I am taking Fluttershy out for supper......" Lyra interrupted, "You mean you have a date with Fluttershy!" Colgate blushed but did not say anything. In just a few minutes, the two were ready to leave and headed home. Once they got home, Colgate was a bit nervous because she had never been on a date before and had no idea on what she should wear. Given that Lyra had been dating Bon Bon for quite some time, she turned to her younger sister and asked, "Lyra, what should I wear? Should I dress nice or should I simply dress casual?" Lyra couldn't help but giggle over how naïve her elder sister was over the whole situation. She asked, "So is this simply you taking her out and writing off her debt OR do you want to try and win her heart eventually?" Colgate replied, "Well I do hope that maybe someday we could be something special." Lyra again snickered, "I knew it! You have a crush on her, don't you?" Colgate decided to finally just give in and tell her the truth, "Yes Lyra, I do. I think she is sweet and I think she is beautiful so yes, I have a crush!" Lyra giggled, "Oooh, my sister has a crush, my sister has a crush!" Colgate wanted to get past her sister's teasing so she asked, "But how does one dress when she goes out on a date?" Lyra knew that unlike her, her sister really didn't have anything overly nice, let alone dresses and skirts. She replied, "Well sis, just wear whatever your nicest clothes are." Colgate nodded and headed into her closet to find her best clothes. She was looking through and the nicest thing she had was a pair of black slacks and a solid white shirt. She put those on and headed out to the living room and asked, "Well Lyra, how does this look?" What she had on was nothing even close to what she wore on her dates. She sighed, "Seriously, those are the nicest clothes you have?" Colgate replied, "Yes, they are." She threw her hands up in the air and sighed, "When the biggest events you have in your life are dental conventions, you're not going to have anything fancy!" Lyra sighed, "Colgate, if you are hoping to one day win Fluttershy's heart, you can not simply wear business attire." She knew that her sister was roughly the same size as her so she led her into her room, opened her closet and continued, "Now pick something out, something that would be appropriate for a date, not a dental convention!" Colgate began to look through her sister's nicer clothes and was not overly thrilled by what she saw. Lyra pointed some out to her and all she had was either dresses or tight fitting shirts and medium length skirts. Colgate sighed, "Are you sure this won't be appropriate? I hate dresses and skirts and I'm not a fan of tight shirts either!" Lyra sighed, "Well if you don't want to look good for your crush, don't be sad if she decides she doesn't want anything special!" Colgate objected, "But this is how I always dress, I want her to like me for me, not liking me because I'm in your clothes!" Lyra sighed, "Well I guess I can see where you're coming from." She looked at the clock and continued, "Well it is half past five, I think you better get going. You don't want to be late for your first date do you?" Colgate's ears shot up when she heard this. She said, "No, I don't. Well I better get going, I'll see you later." Lyra giggled, "I can't wait to hear about if you kissed her tonight or not!" Colgate blushed and headed out the door. She hoped that everything would go perfectly that night but knew that if things didn't go the way she hoped, that she couldn't let it bother her too much. Once Fluttershy got home she was immediately greeted by Angel, who was giving her a scowl demanding that he be fed. For the first time in her life, Fluttershy had something that she considered more important than making sure Angel was given what he considered a good meal. He began to yank on Fluttershy's tail and this did not sit well with her. She gave him a glare and sighed, "Angel, I can't fix you a fancy meal tonight, I have a date." Angel did not know what she was talking about but continued the same behavior until she finally broke down and fixed him a decent supper. It was not as hearty as what she usually fixed him but given her glares, he knew that he likely wasn't going to get her to give him more. Fluttershy rushed up to her room and began to get dressed. It felt odd to be putting on a skirt considering that the last time she wore one was when she was a filly. Once she was dressed, she looked at herself in the mirror and could only hope that what she was wearing would impress Colgate. Once she was dressed she headed downstairs and sat on her couch waiting for Colgate. Every three minutes she would look at the clock and it seemed like time was dragging by. Even though it was still a quarter till six, she had already begun to get nervous that maybe Colgate didn't want to go out and wouldn't show up. She sighed, "Does she suddenly not want to go, did she change her mind?" She then calmed down and continued, "Calm down Fluttershy, it is still early. Everything is going to be just fine." > Date Night > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Fluttershy was in her cottage waiting for Colgate. Despite her knowing that it was not six yet, just a few minutes after calming down, she began to get nervous when the clock read five till six. That nervousness would vanish just a minute later when she heard a knock on her door. She rushed to it and answered to discover that Colgate was there to pick her up. She gave her a smile and said, "Colgate, it's so good to see you!" Colgate replied, "It's good to see you too Fluttershy." She took a look at Fluttershy and noticed how she was dressed and found it quite appealing. Her smile got bigger and she continued, "You look really nice Fluttershy." Fluttershy commented, "You look nice too." Colgate turned her head towards town and asked, "Shall we?" Fluttershy nodded, turned off her lights and headed out the door. When they first started heading into town, Fluttershy was walking a bit behind Colgate. She noticed this and didn't really want her behind her. She turned around and said, "Fluttershy, you can walk right up next to me." She then got a smile on her face and laughed, "Don't worry, I don't bite!" Colgate's relaxed behavior caused Fluttershy to calm down a bit so she joined Colgate and walked with her, side by side. When she did this, both of them were happy and Colgate wanted very much to grab a hold of Fluttershy's hand but knew that would likely be inappropriate since she didn't know exactly what Fluttershy saw this as, whether she saw it as simply getting her debt written off or if it was really a date. Once they arrived at the cafe they were promptly seated and at first there was an odd silence between the two until Fluttershy broke the silence, "Colgate, what is my limit?" Colgate replied, "Order anything you want, this is on me and I want you to be happy." This shocked Fluttershy, especially given that this was initially just set up so that Colgate would write off her debt. All sorts of thoughts began to run through her mind. She began to think, "She wants me to be happy? Does she have a crush on me? Does she think I'm beautiful?" Fluttershy then broke her thoughts and said, "Thanks, I really appreciate it." It would not be long until the waiter arrived and took their orders. Fluttershy was extra hungry that night and ordered something that would cost twice as much as she would normally get. She watched Colgate's facial expressions as she did this and felt a sense of relief as all she saw was a smile, a smile that she was beginning to find quite attractive. Again there was a nervous silence between the two, a silence that was making both of them wonder if things were even going to go well. Colgate finally broke that silence, "So Fluttershy, I know you like animals, how are they doing?" Fluttershy replied, "They are doing alright." She could tell that Colgate was just as, if not more, nervous than she was. She thought that they needed more than small talk, "Colgate, what do you say we get to know one another?" Colgate replied, "I think that is a good idea." She could tell by the expression on Fluttershy's face that she wanted her to go first. She took a deep breath and began, "Well I was born and raised in Canterlot....." Colgate began to become flustered as she never was good at talking about herself. She knew however that if she wanted a chance with Fluttershy, that she couldn't just be a complete mess and tell her next to nothing. Fluttershy saw this and said, "It's alright, you don't have to tell me everything." Colgate replied, "I'm sorry Fluttershy, I'm just not good at talking about myself." She again took a deep breath and continued, "When I was young, I was intelligent for a filly my age so I was able to get into Celestia's school for gifted unicorns." Fluttershy interrupted, "That's where Twilight went to school!" Colgate continued, "She was my classmate but enough about her. I did good, very good in my studies there but there were other things I was interested in besides becoming great with magic. I wound up doing some sort of report about dentistry and that is what got me fascinated in it, fascinated to the point to where I would wind up going to school for that." Fluttershy asked, "And how did that go?" Colgate continued, "It went absolutely wonderful. It is kind of odd, I seemed to have a knack for it, almost like it was what I was supposed to do. I wound up graduating at the top of my class and almost immediately I was hired by a dental clinic in Fillydelphia." Fluttershy asked, "Oh, and how did that go?" Colgate replied, "It went alright. I'll admit, I wasn't exactly fond of the city and I definitely wasn't fond of my boss. It seemed like no matter what his employees did, it was not good enough. We could do a perfect job on a patient's teeth and he'd still find something wrong. It was after just being there for a few months that I cut back my spending dramatically so I could eventually leave and start my own practice, which of course I eventually was able to." Fluttershy asked, "What led you to choose Ponyville as where you wanted to start your practice?" Colgate replied, "Several things actually. One thing was the lower business taxes. I initially thought about Canterlot since that is where my parents live but the taxes are too high. Also, I wanted a slower pace of life. After living in the big city for so long, I was sick and tired of the hustle and bustle. Third, Lyra had begun to hang out with a less than pleasant crowd in Canterlot and she wound up having to drop out of Celestia's school. My parents asked me if I would open my practice in a small town and hire Lyra in one way or another and I agreed. Now here I am, very successful" she then began to blush and continued, "having supper with you." Fluttershy couldn't help but smile when Colgate blushed when she mentioned her. She knew that it was her turn to share her past so she began, "Regarding me, I was born in Cloudsdale to two very loving parents and when I was a filly, I was happy until my parents decided to enroll me in flight school." She became a bit more agitated as she continued, "And I despised flight school, I hated it more than anything!" Colgate could tell that mentioning flight school was upsetting Fluttershy greatly and replied, "I'm sorry it was so bad Fluttershy, you don't have to tell me everything if you don't want to." Fluttershy really didn't want to continue talking about it but she knew that if Colgate knew more about her, that there would be a better chance of something happening so she continued, "It's alright Colgate. Ok, about the flight school. I hated it because everypony but me was a strong flyer. I was constantly bullied and made fun of by everypony except Rainbow Dash, who challenged those bullies to a race to defend my honor." Colgate asked, "And what happened there?" Fluttershy continued, "Well they started the race but when they raced past me, they knocked me off a cloud and I fell to the ground." Colgate gasped, "You weren't hurt were you?" Fluttershy continued, "No, some butterflies caught me. Then once I was on the ground there was this explosion that scared the animals. It was that that caused me to discover that communicating with animals is my special talent and I got my cutie mark. It wasn't too long ago that I learned that was Rainbow Dash's sonic rainboom that scared the animals." Colgate had no clue what a sonic rainboom was but realized it may have had something to do with a strange event that happened while she was in school. She asked, "This sonic rainboom, did it cause a loud explosion and was accompanied by a bright rainbow colored light?" Fluttershy replied, "Yes. I take it you saw it?" Colgate laughed a bit as she began, "Well sort of. I was taking an advanced physics exam when all of a sudden this loud boom rocked Canterlot and the weirdest thing happened, all of us wound up losing control of our magic and discharged energy out of our horns." She began to laugh louder, "And while my classmates wound up incinerating their exams, I only blasted a hole in the ceiling. The funny thing is, I was the only one to have an exam to turn in when it was over." Fluttershy asked, "Oh, and how did the teacher react?" Colgate replied, "She was frustrated but not mad because it's not like we did it willingly but enough about that. When you fell to the ground, did your parents come looking for you?" Fluttershy replied, "No, they didn't?" Colgate gasped, "Why not? If my sister or myself had gone missing like that, our parents would have searched every last inch of Equestria until they found us!" Fluttershy replied, "I don't know why but I was able to make it here on the ground and of course I have my animals and my friends so I don't think things turned out too bad." Colgate asked, "I know about the things that you and your friends have done as far as saving Equestria goes, but anything else? What sorts of things do you like and enjoy in life?" Fluttershy replied, "Well I love my animals, I like spending time with my friends and I do like to sew sometimes." She then turned to Colgate, "What do you like to do and what do you enjoy?" Colgate replied, "Well dentistry obviously, I do like spending time with my friends and my big sister/little sister time with Lyra. We always have so much fun." By this time their order had finally arrived and both of them were very hungry and dug right in on their meals. As they were eating, there was silence from both of them as they had one thing on their minds, filling their stomachs. Once they both finished eating Colgate let out a huge belch. Fluttershy tried giving her a stern look and asked, "Aren't you going to say excuse me?" Colgate could tell by the look in her eyes that she was not upset but replied, "I'm sorry Fluttershy, excuse me." They both gave one another smiles before laughing over the incident. Almost immediately after that, the waiter brought them the bill. Colgate grabbed some bits and left them on the table for a tip and grabbed her debit card to pay up front. Once she paid for their meal they headed out and Colgate asked, "So, is there anything else you want to do or do you want to head home and call it a night?" Fluttershy was getting a bit tired and yawned, "I'm thinking we ought to call it a night. I had a really good time tonight." Her face dropped a bit as she continued, "I'll see you again sometime?" Colgate replied, "Well I was hoping you'd let me walk you home." Fluttershy's ears shot up when she heard this. She said, "I'd love it if you'd walk me home!" As the two headed towards Fluttershy's cottage, Colgate felt something she had never felt before, a hand in hers as Fluttershy had grabbed her hand. Colgate looked over and smiled at her, letting Fluttershy know that it was ok that she grabbed her hand. As they continued onward, Colgate pulled Fluttershy's arm under hers and Fluttershy smiled and blushed at her. Once they arrived at her cottage, Fluttershy let go of Colgate and had a nervous smile on her face. She said, "Like I said earlier, I had a really wonderful time tonight." Colgate replied, "I had a wonderful time as well." She paused for a moment before asking, "I'm wondering, would you want to do this again sometime?" Fluttershy replied, "I'd love to but I don't think I'd have the mo......" Colgate interrupted, "Fluttershy, any time you and I go out like this, I will pay, alright?" Fluttershy asked, "Really, you'll pay every time?" It then hit Fluttershy, Colgate did not simply say next time, she said every time. Fluttershy had a feeling that Colgate may really like her but may be nervous about bringing it up so she decided that she would ask her first. She approached Colgate and asked, "Can I ask you a question?" While Colgate knew how Fluttershy was and knew about her shy nature, she had a feeling that she may ask her the same question that she was going to ask her. She blushed and replied, "Yes, you can." For a brief moment, Fluttershy began to doubt as to whether she should do this or not but then she knew that if she didn't ask her at that very moment, that she may be too scared to in the future. She asked, "I'm wondering, w-would you be my marefriend?" Colgate was in a state of shock but elation at the same time. She pulled Fluttershy close and replied, "I'd love to be your marefriend so my answer is yes!" After she gave her answer, the two began to stare deeply into one another's eyes and moved in for a kiss. When their lips met it was like fireworks were going off for both of them. Colgate began to shoot sparks out of her horn and Fluttershy's wings spread wide as neither had experienced it before. They tightened their embrace and deepened their kiss, parting their lips to allow entry to the other's tongue. Their tongues began to fight for dominance and their embrace tightened, both moaning in pleasure as they began to rub their hands on the other's back but soon Fluttershy's hands would move lower, low enough that she began groping Colgate's flank, bringing out more pleasurable moans from her. After ten minutes of passionate kissing, Fluttershy broke the kiss, looked back at her flank and giggled, "You can touch mine too, it doesn't bite!" Colgate knew that was Fluttershy's cue that she wanted to be groped as well. She moved her hands down and began to grope Fluttershy, which was promptly returned. Fluttershy buried her face in Colgate's mane and took in the wonderful feeling of Colgate squeezing her flank in what seemed to be in rhythm of how she was squeezing hers. Soon both of them realized that they had better stop before things went too far for the first date. They pulled apart and both were red as an apple. Fluttershy gave her a dreamy look and suggested, "I think we better stop, I don't know what you think but I think going further on the first date would be a bad idea." Colgate agreed, "I feel the same way. I feel bad that it went this far on the first date, I just hope you don't feel like I was....." Fluttershy put her hand over her mouth and commented, "Colgate, I'm the one who groped your flank first so if anypony is to blame, its me." Colgate replied, "How about there is nopony to blame." Fluttershy giggled, "That sounds good to me." She yawned again and continued, "Well I think we ought to call it a night. I'm getting tired and I'm sure Lyra is wondering what happened to you." Colgate replied, "Yeah, you're probably right but about that next date. How does Saturday at six sound?" Fluttershy smiled, "That sounds great to me." Colgate began to return home and said, "Well Fluttershy, I'll see you on Saturday if not sooner!" Fluttershy replied, "I'll see you on Saturday." As Colgate headed off, Fluttershy had never been so happy in her life. While it was just one night so far, she felt like somepony finally cared about her in a way that her friends don't. She was so happy that even Angel's grumpiness had skipped her mind. Her mood would not even be dampened when she went into her cottage and was greeted by an angry Angel, wondering where she had been for so long. He pulled on her tail and began squeaking in anger. Fluttershy was much less than thrilled with this, for the first time she was a bit angry. She glared at him and sighed, "Not now Angel, I'm in a good mood and I want it to stay that way." Fluttershy headed upstairs and closed her door. For the first time ever, she did not want Angel sleeping in her bedroom. She wanted just one night free of the drama that rabbit causes and wanted to focus on her new marefriend and dream of what the future may bring.
