Headache #1: First Day of School Not Really

View Online

The royal carriage came to a stop right in front of their new school, Luna turned to look through the tinted windows and watched as the normal students would enter the building like it was nothing to them. For her however this was not an everyday thing both of them have never even been to a school before, it made butterflies flutter in Luna's stomach. The only thing that kept her from over reacting was the fact that she had her older sister sitting right beside her, it was also her first time going to school. Unlike previous years where their mother hired a private tutor to come to the castle to give them their basic reading, writing and math skills, this year their mother wanted them to go out and socialize with their kingdom's citizens. It was absolutely nerve-racking. "I don't think I can do this Tia, I mean what if someone doesn't like the way our parents you know hand the kingdom, or just don't like us in general." She says breaking the ominous silence.

Celestia looked over to her worried sister and gave a comforting smile, "It's okay, mother requested that the school not separate us, that means we will have every class together and our own dorm room for the first year until we get settled."

"Wait wait wait, dorm room???" Luna asks more shocked then when their mother sent them here.

"I am afraid so, mother didn't want you to know until the last second. In this Private Highschool students get special housing right on the campus in the same area of the school, so its easier for them to travel back and forth. We get to go home for the summer but when we come back we stay in the dorms for the year, so we get a special dorm to ourselves until we get settled in during our first year. So after the first year they'll put us in a dorm with the rest of the other school girls." Celestia explains.

"So that means we only go home after the whole year is over!?" Luna nearly shouts.

"It's so we can both help each other out. Plus look on the bright side Lulu, we can finally you know....H-have a special friend to come over and you know H-ang out." Even though they were sisters, Celestia had to watch what she says around her younger sister. Being 18 ment more freedom for her but Luna at 16 was basically still a kid.

"I'm not going to like this, wait that last part do you mean to go dates like kissing and stuff?" Luna asks innocently.

"Yeah, yeah totally what I meant." Celestia says sheepishly rubbing her hair careful not to knock her tiara off from its resting place on her head. Fearing she said too much she follows it up with "Look the important thing here is that, we'll be in this together no matter what.....we're basically inseparable Lulu." Celestia looks out the window to see the school for herself, but something surprised her making her jump a little.

Someone must had to have noticed the limo's symbols and markings to know who exactly was inside of it, and then told almost anybody he/she saw. There was a little bit of a crowd standing and gathering infront of the doors of the school, their eyes all pointed at the grand looking carriage. "What's wro--oh my god theres so many people." Luna says shocked as she looked back out the window. "Well got any encouraging words for this sister?" She asks.

"Well, just grin and bare through it." Celestia says through her almost gritting teeth. "Oh I got it, remember before we left this morning mother gave us that one very important message?" She pauses and tries to lighten up the mood by doing her best impersonation of her mother. "Everything and anything we say or do when we are with the public can reflect back on our empires reputation." She says winning a chuckle from Luna.

They wait for their butler to get out from his seat outside the cabin, walking over to the door he tugs it open, "Right, now children don't cause ruckus and stay out of it as well. If I did my job right as your butler then you both know what to do and how to react to certain situations, now then shall we get you inside?" Their butler says in a rush.

"Yes Mr. Hugo." They say in unison. Their butler Mr. Hugo extends his hand outward for the future rulers of Equestria to balance themselves on as they climb out of the carriage, one by one they both plant their two feet on to the solid ground exchanging their thanks with him. Until Celestia noticed something dribble down his eye on to his cheek. "You okay Mr. Hugo?" Celestia asks.

"Oh I apologize my dear lass, it crumbles my heart to see you both so grown up and off away from the castle for 4 years." He says retrieving a handkerchief from his front pocket, he wipes away a small tear and then stuffs the handkerchief back into his pocket. "I'll have nothing to do, no one to look after. I suppose I'll try my hand at golf or fencing."

"Oh, It's alright we'll be back during the summer." Celestia says embracing Mr. Hugo in for a hug, as Luna joins in to the mix. "Then we can have another one of your famous prepared tea times." She chuckles

"Thank you girls, now run off you got to put on a good and proper face for the public." He says breaking up the generous hug, "Because I think they may already be watching." He says noticing the rather large crowd that gathered.

"Thank's for everything Mr. Hugo." Luna says breaking away along with her sister. They turn around and face the crowd that gathered infront of the large bricked building, above the doorway read a sign carved in stone 'School Of The Goddess'. The school had a few stairs to climb before reaching the top platform where the entrance was, and that's where most of the crowd gathered. They gave each other a quick nod and they began to ascend the smooth concrete stairs, until they reached the top platform.

This could have been the most terrifying thing almost anyone has gone through, almost like 100 eyes were starring right at them the way Luna's brain processed it. In reality it was more like half that number, but among those who kept their trained eyes on them was some sort of teacher stood holding a plastic bag in each hand. Unlike the mixed faces of the other kids, shocked, surprised, happy, curious, confused and unbelieving eyes. The teacher who stood there wore a simple happy smile and gesture as the two new students approached him, he got down on one knee and bowed his head. "Your highnesses, please forgive my students for not bowing." He says a little ashamed.

They knew exactly how to react to this kind of gesture courtesy of their butler, who had taught them proper greetings, posture, and reactions. With a graceful smile, they did a slight bow and waited for him to stop. When he did rise back up, he handed both the girls a plastic bag the ones he was previously just holding. "My name is Mr. Swirl I am the head teacher of this school, I would like to take you to my office where I can get you familiar with the rules and procedures." He says. "It'll be good to get away from this crowd." He chuckles leaning in a little further.

Turning away from the princesses, he goes to open the door for them to enter the school. Taking the courage to take the first steps Celestia walks through the doors and into the massive school, as she walks further and further in more she realizes that something was off. That Luna wasn't at her side anymore, she turns franticly and spots her still outside frozen by the crowd and the audible whispers going on between each student. "Oh no, she's letting her fear get the best of her." Celestia says in her head, not angrily or ashamed but more worried then anything else.

"ALRIGHT BREAK IT UP!! Don't you got anything better to do you creeps!" Comes a voice that stopped Celestia dead in her tracks as she started to head back for Luna. First she glanced at Mr. Swirl but soon realized that he wasn't the one doing the shouting. She looked through the window to see a figure struggle his way through the massive crowd, she stopped and watched what was happening.

"Oh no." Mr. Swirl mumbled after he saw and realized who it was. It was a boy who had black slicked back hair, a black leather jacket with a purple shirt, dog tags dangling from his neck, black jeans and boots. He looked kind of cute in Celestia's eyes, and nice by the way he was helping her sister out.

She watches as the crowd dissipates nearly into thin air, a little too fast if you ask her but she didn't mind the fact it was helping her sister. She watched as the students went by her quickly trying to get to their classes, and then went out on the platform to greet this stranger. "Than----" From her assumed guesses about this kid turned very quickly.

He held up his hand and shook his index finger, "Uh uh uh uh, let me make something clear. 1 I don't give a shit about you or your sister or anybody else for that matter, 2 as fine as you look baby it hurts me to say this but stay the hell away from and stay the fuck out of my way you see me coming...move, 3 I didn't break up that mob for your little pussy of a sister too scared to see her own shadow, I did it so I can go see my girl.......Do I make myself clear to you?!" He shouts, he didn't wait for a response he didn't need one. He turned to the doors and walked away.

"Put on your uniform this time!" Mr. Swirl calls out.

"Fuck you." The kid calls back.

"Wh-who was that, that, jerk. How dare he insult me and my sister like that, I should have him tossed away." Celestia bursts. In her whole entire 18 years of living she has never come across one soul who acted like he did in the face of royalty, or even non royalty for that matter.

"That was our school 'bad boy' Sombra his father is the principal no matter how hard his dad tries to crack that kid, he still turns out like this, and for the love of any god take his warnings. He doesn't care about rules of engagement or society, he will knock you flat even if your are a lady or a princess." Mr. Swirl says with the gravest of tones. "Please stay clear of him by all means."

"God I knew this was a bad Idea from the start." Luna says after she finally calms herself down enough. "Do you think we should just go home sis?" She didn't even enter the building yet and already she got picked on, this was exactly thing she was worried about before she got out of the carriage. If her first day was this this bad who knows what the whole year could have in store for her, its not something she wanted to imagine.

"No no no, there is no need for that. The first day of school is hard for everybody, trust me your highnesses. There is also a strong bond between you both I can tell that from miles away, your mother was right making that request." Mr. Swirl says with a kind hearted but nervous chuckle. "Come on with me now, lets head into my office get you both situated with the place your in......The School Of The Goddess, or in other terms your mother."

"Why is the school named after our mother?" Celestia asks curiously.

"Come with me I can give you part of a tour on our way to my office, the school was named after your mother because she provided the means for it to be built. She gave the funds and the school was built, it was part of her education for everyone plan."

"That's our mother alright." Luna chuckles. "She really does try to put her kingdom before everything else."

They walk in what seemed to be the main entrance hallway, it had three separate larger hallways stemming out from this one giant rotunda like entrance way. "This, area here is the rotunda. It has a stream of hallways connecting to it, your going to use those hallways every day. One takes you into a cafeteria, where you can eat outside or inside. Those other two hallways have lockers lining the walls, you two are going to have your own number and combo number. Once you get past the lockers then you start hitting the class rooms, you'll get your agenda sheet from me." Mr. Swirl says as he points out the obvious.

"So where is your office then?" Celestia asks. "Which hallway do we go down?"

"Oh well my office is actually in the rotunda." He says. Lifting his index finger up he points to a clear glass window that was as big as the width of the hallway entrance, you could run six-eight students along side it before you reach the door. "Me and the principal have our offices in there, but the receptionist will stop you before you see us." Mr. Swirl. "You'll warm up to the school soon enough I hope, as far as our students go they will take a little longer to adjust to."

"How so?" Luna asks growing curious. "I mean yeah I saw what they did when they first saw our arrival, and my embarrassing mishap but I dismissed it as star struck." She follows.

"Well you see, this school.......Is really a special type of school a boarding school, its a place where their rich parents send their snobby kids. Trust me when I tell you this if they see you, the royal daughters to the Queen of Equestria then I have no doubt in my mind, they are going to try to smooze right up to you both in order to gain popularity. And then you have those who are the kids who feel like nothing in the world can touch them, you had a run in with one. I have no Idea why your mother chose this place to send you, it's not Ideal but if I were to make my best guess I'd say she is trying to teach you a lesson." Mr. Swirl

That stopped all previous thoughts in Luna's head and replaced them with even more freighting thoughts, if Mr. Swirl was right then what did they do to be sent here? Was this meant as a punishment for some previous wrong they had done? "Oh today just keeps getting worse." She exclaims. "Basically a snob school then, well that does explain why we get a dorm."

"So hang on, wait let me process this." Celestia says in deep thought and concentration. She was too busy trying to figure out the meaning behind the reason why they were sent here, all their lives their mother had played devious ways to get them to learn a thing or 2 about running a kingdom. So it had to be something along those lines, a princess hardship maybe?

"You can think all you want, when we get to my office." Mr. Swirl says.

"Finally, and not a moment too soon we would have been overrun by the period one bell." Mr. Swirl says closing his office door right behind him. "That's the time where you don't wanna be in the hallways, its really over crowded to the like 500 students that go here." He walks over to his big wooden desk and sits down onto a black comfy chair. "Now here are the rules, #1 those bags I gave you have your required uniform your expected to wear it during school hours other then that I don't care, #2 you probably already go the whole no fighting thing, #3 stay away from the kids who think they are invincible."

"What do you mean by the last one." Celestia says as she takes a small peak inside of the plastic back that was handed to her, she could see the uniform freshly pressed and everything.

"I mean there are kids who think they own the world and the world bends only if they say so kind of kids, and I wouldn't be surprised if they try to get friendly with you both. If they quote on quote have a princess for a friend it will just fuel their fire more, same with the popularity jocks who care only about their status." Mr. Swirl says leaning back in comfy black chair.

"All these warnings, all this talk of bad intent. What kind of school is this anyway?" Celestia says it like it was something from an actual living hell, she couldn't stand some of the things that Mr. Swirl had described to her. Although she and her sister were not in the clear, they had done some snobbish things of their own in the past.

"I told you, a place where anything is determined by popularity.....Now I can help you out as much as I can, I know it might be tough for you both to come to the school and thrown to the wolves. If you ever need someone to vent to or just escape all the drama and the fake friends, by all means our doors are open." Mr. Swirl says pointing behind them.

"I think if what your saying is true and we're not doubting it is, we might just have to take you up on the offers." Luna says.

"Now, go ahead and inside your bags is your required uniforms. You can use the bathroom out side the office and to the left to change, and I'll tell you what since it's your first day had a rough morning. You can skip today and I'll have someone escort you to your dorm room, take it easy it will only get harder after today."
