Twilight's nightmares are so realistic, are they really real?

Most think that the life of a princess is perfect, amazing, any positive adjective you could think of. Well, it's not. My ascension to a princess brought great things yes, but they also brought me more stress, trials, and worst of all, fears. Luckily, I have my beautiful wife to help me get through them, but sometimes, you are alone and nopony can help you. That's how I felt that night...

Save Me

Twilight's breathes were slow, deep, and shaky. No matter how hard she tried, she simply couldn't catch her breath. She wanted to look around, she wanted to know where she was, however, the cloth knotted tightly around her eyes prevented any sight from reaching her eyes. She tried to move her hooves to untie the blindfold, but they were bound behind her. She was in a sitting position, in a chair, and the air around her was silent, except for the sound of crickets outside and whispering of two ponies across the room. Her magic also failed to give way, for a ring of some sort around it kept her from releasing any magic spells,"W...who are you? W...wh...what do you want with me?" The alicorn whimpered, holding back tears, she wanted to be in her wife's hooves again, she wanted to be safe in her bed, she wanted Rainbow Dash. Two ponies, stallions, cackled from across the room, as they approached her, one of them placing a hoof on her restrained shoulder, making the princess flinch in fear. She was shaking, she was terrified.

"You are a princess, you are married, and surely your wife will pay anything to have you back in one piece." One voice deadpanned with a chuckle.

'Ransom,' Twilight thought,'Of course...ugh, being a princess sucks sometimes...' She realized then they probably wouldn't hurt her, though they would if Rainbow didn't pay whatever the ransom was. What was she thinking? Of course, she would! How much was the ransom though?!

"H...h...how much are you asking?" Twilight whimpered, her voice barely above a whisper.

"How much is the Princess of Friendship worth?" The second voice piped up, obviously talking to the other stallion, that voice though, she recognized it, who was it though?

"Hmm, when a lover asks their partner how they look, they often say a million bits, let's see if she is really worth that much." The two then commenced in laughter, as Twilight gasped in fear. She hadn't made even that much money in her whole life! Celestia knows Rainbow hadn't either, there was no way her wife could give them that many bits. She wanted to tell her captors that, but from what she had seen in movies, abductors that didn't get their money, often killed the useless victim, so she kept her mouth shut.

"Of course," The voice she recognized chimed,"We'll need to send her wife some evidence that we really have you." At that, Twilight's breath sped up, when she felt the chain around her neck be ripped from her, it was the chain that held her wedding ring.

"No! Please! Give it back!" Twilight began to struggle against her bonds, only to be laughed at.

"We want Rainbow to believe the letter don't we?" The voice giggled, and Twilight heard the sealing of an envelope and hooves walking away from her. Tears streaked her face, leaking from under her thick blindfold, she was officially stripped of anything familiar to her, she didn't even have the ring that kept her tied to Rainbow Dash when she was away from her.

Twilight had lost track of the time, she had no idea how long she had been there. All she knew was that her bottom had grown numb, and whoever was holding her hostage knew a lot about her, at least, one of them did. For he had been mentally torturing her for...however long she had been there. At this point, time was just a few blinks of the eye,"Who...who are you?" Twilight asked, the question of who that agonizingly familiar voice belonged to slipping from her mouth.

"Awe Twilight, I'm hurt!" The voice responded with mocking sadness,"I thought you would recognize your ex-coltfriend!" That sentence made Twilight gasp in horror.

"F...F...Flash Sentry....?!" Was all the princess could manage to get out before her ex-turned captor cackled in laughter.

"Good job princess! I knew you would get it!" Flash praised before kissing her on the cheek, making Twilight gag, before turning her head away in anger.

"Don't touch me!" She scowled. Flash only laughed as he ran a hoof through her mane.

"Silly mare...You are my captive! I can do whatever I want with you!" He taunted, a smirk in his voice, and his words making the alicorn tremble in fear a pair of lips pressed against hers, making her screams of fear and anger muffled as she helplessly struggled against his grasp, and her restraints.

"Flash...what...are you doing?" The other captor deadpanned, making her ex-coltfriend jump and step away from the alicorn captive.

"Don't worry about it! Just...have you delivered the letter!?"

"I have. She should be here soon, that is, if she wants that money delivered to the meeting spot by sunset." The two shared a laugh,"Do you have everything arranged if she doesn't, or can't, pay?"

"Mhm." The two cackled before exiting the room, leaving a confused, angry, and heartbroken alicorn to her thoughts and tears.

Twilight guessed it was around sunset because her two captors had reentered the room and had untied Twilight from the chair and were restraining her wings, and tying her back hooves together, and front hooves behind her, and had begun carrying her out of the building. From her guesses and calculations, she had been there for nearly twenty-four hours, because when she had arrived, crickets had been the only sound aside from conversation, so it had been around midnight on arrival.

She was a broken mare. She didn't even attempt to escape when she was loaded onto a wagon of some sort,"You pull the cart, I'll watch the princess," Flash told the mystery stallion, who groaned, but quickly had himself latched onto the cart, and began pulling it, and the two riders, down the rocky pathway. Twilight glanced at the floor of the cart, though she still couldn't see, as she still had the blindfold tied around her eyes.

"Where are we going...?" She asked, her voice showed how broken she was.

"You'll see princess," Flash responded.

A blink in time later and the wagon stopped, and Twilight felt herself be yanked off the cart and pushed violently to the ground, making her gasp in pain.

"Twilight!!" A familiar, raspy voice called, making the blinded alicorn look in the direction of the voice. A gasp emitted from the same voice,"Let her go!"

"Got the money?" Flash asked.

"You're crazy if you think I'm gonna pay you two freaks anything!"

"Oh I think you will," Twilight gasped when a sharp object pressed against her neck.

"No...please...don't," She managed to choke out, as she began to cough.

Twilight...

Twilight tried to look around at the mention of her name, but nopony continued, and she earned herself a harsh yank back into Flash's body, followed by more of her own coughing at the knife's contact.

"Let. Her. Go. NOW!" Rainbow growled, and Twilight heard her wife's wings open, as she took a fighting stance.

"Take one more step, and she dies," Flash warned.

Twilight!

Twilight didn't look around this time, she was only focused on the knife pressing against her neck,"Please...let me go..." She whimpered in between coughs. She heard Rainbow growl and take off running, in her direction!

"Wrong choice."

Twilight!!

Twilight screamed, though her voice was muffled as the knife penetrated her neck...

"Twilight! Calm down!" Rainbow yelled. She was on top of the alicorn, pinning her down with her body, and covering her mouth with her hoof,"You've been screaming all night! It's already three am! I would like to try and get some sleep before work tomor-" Rainbow stopped scowling when she saw the mortified look on her wife's face. She moved her hoof from Twilight's mouth.

"P...please! Get off me! Don't hurt me!" Twilight screamed, struggling under Rainbow's grasp. Rainbow realized that Twilight didn't recognize her, and quickly got off of her, the alicorn quickly lept off the bed and crawled into the far corner of the castle bedroom. She was visibly shaking.

"Must have had another nightmare..." Rainbow sighed and stood up, slowly approaching the princess,"Twi...Twilight? Do you know who I am?" After a moment, Twilight shook her head, and in the blink of an eye, she tackled Rainbow to the floor, tears rolling down her cheeks as she sobbed into the pegasi's chest," Shh...it's okay Sweetie," Rainbow whispered, as she wrapped her hooves around the alicorn, before slowly flying back to bed, and laid down, as she began gently stroking her mane. Rainbow decided it was best to wait until Twilight got all her tears out before speaking again.

"Feel better?" Rainbow asked once Twilight had grown quiet.

"Y...Yeah..." Twilight whispered.

"Wanna talk about it?"

Nodding, Twilight slowly, but surely explained the dream to her, fresh tears falling down her face as she spoke.

Rainbow was speechless. The horrible nightmare that Twilight had described to her simply pulled the words out of her mouth,"I...I'm so sorry Twi..." She finally managed to whisper,"I wish I had woken you up sooner..."

"It...it's okay..." Twilight replied,"I'm ju...just glad it wasn't real..."

"Me too," Rainbow said with a smile, before wrapping her wings around her princess,"I love you,"

"I love you too," Twilight replied with a smile.

"Think you'll feel better if I hold you the rest of the night?" Twilight eagerly nodded, before she snuggled closer to the pegasus, letting Rainbow hold her tight," And tomorrow, after work, we can go on a nice date." Twilight giggled before nodding again, as she slowly drifted off to sleep, not another nightmare disturbing her sleep.
