> Dashtale > by Ghostaloo > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > The Fall (Editing) > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- The first thing she noticed was that her head was pounding. A maelstrom of pain was raging within her skull, making her stomach squirm with nausea. It felt like her skull was trying to split open Not wanting to aggravate her headache, she just layed there silently. After a long while of working up the courage to open her eyes, she was greeted with the blinding light from the sun above. She squirted and turned her head away. Looking off to the side, she was quickly greeted with the sight of rocky walls on all sides. Do to the blinding light, and the flowers she could feel underneath her, she had originally thought she was outside. But it turned out that this was not the case. How did I get here? She did a quick search through her memories, but unfortunately she didn't find the answer she was looking for. In fact, it only raised more questions. Who am I again? She wondered to herself. The confusion she was feeling was quickly changed to nervousness, and soon it had become fear. Who am I?!?! What's my name?!!? She did another search through her mind, but this time much more complete. It took a while, but after a bit of digging she found a single word that seemed to resonate deeply from within her being. It gave her a familiar, warm feeling. It was Dash. Dash. That's my name. My name is Dash. The small pony, now known as Dash, thought to herself with a faint smile. It wasn't much in terms of identity, but it was a start. She was just thankful that she had something to use as a crutch. It was something to help keep her hooves on the ground, and that's all that honestly matters. With her personal dilemma now satisfied for the time being, Dash remembered her current situation. Oh yeah, a cave. I'm in a cave. Why am I in a cave? How did I get here? Dash then remembered the sunlight shinning above her. She turned her head back to its original position and gazed upwards. The sun seemed to have moved since the last time she looked at it. It now halfway hidden, making it so Dash could see the opening in the cave far above. That must have been how she got in this cave. Oh well. Dash flipped onto her side and slowly begun to got up, trying not to aggravate her headache. A returning wave of nausea washed over her, causing Dash to lose her balance temporarily. Luckily, she caught herself before she fell. Dash reached up and rubbed where the pain in her head was coming from. There was something warm and wet coming from the back of her head. Quickly pulling her hoof away, she looked at it in horror. She was bleeding! This must be why she lost her memories. She hit her head when she fell. From the looks of it the wound is pretty bad. Not life threatening but still bad. Ignoring the wound for now, she looked around. Not noticing anything interesting other then some pillars, Dash decided to head deeper into the cave. Eventually she came across a strange flower, and upon closer inspection she noticed the flower actually had a face! Dash was fascinated, and her fascination only grew when the flower started talking. “Howdy! I’m Flowey, Flowey the flower!” He introduced himself. Dash was just lost for words but introduced herself too. “Um, hi? I’m Dash.” Don’t trust him. Dash's ears perked, she could've sworn she just heard a voice. She shook her head and turned her attention back to Flowey. “Hmmm…” Dash swore she could see the gears turning in Flowey’s head “You're new to the Underground, aren'tcha?” She nodded. “Golly, you must be so confused. Someone ought to teach you how things work around here! I guess little old me will have to do. Ready? Here we go!” Suddenly a red heart popped out of her chest, Dash jumped back in surprise. “See that heart? That is your SOUL, the very culmination of your being!” The yellow flower said. SOUL? Dash reached forward and poked it. It caused a shiver to go down her spine. “Your SOUL starts off weak, but can grow strong if you gain a lot of LV. What's LV stand for? Why, LOVE, of course!” “LOVE? That's good right?” Dash asked. “Yup! You want some LOVE, don't you? Don't worry, I'll share some with you!” Flowey winked cartoonishly and all of the sudden, five white pellets appeared around Flowey. Dash had a bad feeling about this. “Down here, LOVE is shared through... little white... "friendliness pellets."' Are you ready? Move around! Get as many as you can!” The white pellets gently flew over to her, she reached forward and touched them. Dash gasped and doubled over in pain. “You idiot!” Dash looked up but quickly recoiled in shock. Floweys face was now absolutely demonic! “In this world, it's kill or BE killed. Why would anyone pass up an opportunity like this!?” Dozens more spinning white pellets appear around her. She was trapped! Dash didn't know if she can take another hit! “Die.” He started laughing as the pellets of death began to close in on her. Out of nowhere a fireball came and knocked the evil flower away. A large goat monster come walking in. “What a terrible creature, torturing such a poor, innocent youth.” The goat grumbled disapprovingly. Dash backed up into a wall and started shaking. She was scared out of her mind! What's this monster going to do to her? Probably cook Dash with her fireballs and eat her, that's what! The monsters eyes softened at the sight of the terrified filly, she didn't even look more than five years old. It's clear that the flower has made her distrustful of monsters, and from the looks of it she was already hurt from the fall she had. The flower made things worse though, she will need immediate medical attention. Poor thing. The goat monster walked over to the shivering filly and put a paw on her shoulder, making her flinch. “Do not be afraid, my child. I am Toriel, caretaker of the ruins. Can you tell me your name?” “D-Dash," the filly sniffled. She seems to be calming down. “Okay Dash, what do you remember before you fell down here?” She asked while petting her rainbow mane. “Nothing.” Toriel grew very worried, the filly can’t remember anything but her name? This is not good, she was planning on showing her the puzzles that make up the ruins, but getting her help is much more important. She can use her healing magic on the wounds but its best if she does it at the house. Meanwhile, Dash was starting to feel comfortable around Toriel. Maybe she can trust the motherly goat monster? She seems nice; unlike Flowey. Dash was knocked out of her thoughts when she was scoped up into Toriel’s arms and cradled like a foal. Her face burned with embarrassment, but she didn't make a fuss. She knew that she probably can’t walk long distances on her own right now. “Come, my child. Let me take you back to my house so we can take care of those wounds.” The monster said as she started walking down the corridor. Eventually they came upon a room with a floating star in it. “What’s that?” She asked while pointing at the star. Toriel looked over toward where Dash was pointing. “What’s what, my child?” Dash looked at Toriel in confusion “The sparkly thing! Can’t you see it?” No she can’t, stupid. There's that voice again! Where's it coming from? Well, whatever, it's right, she doesn't seem to be able to see it. “Nevermind.” The friendly goat monster looked at Dash with worry but didn't push the matter further. When Toriel wasn't looking Dash reached and touched the star. The shadow of the ruins looms above, filling Dash with determination! Dash blinked stupidly at the sudden rush she just felt. This place just keeps getting weirder and weirder. Dash was pulled away from the star as Toriel walked up the stairs into the another room with a puzzle. “The ruins are full of puzzles. Ancient fusions between diversions and doorkeys. One must solve them to move from room to room.” Toriel explained. “I’ll teach you about them another day, my child.” After a long walk filled with puzzles, spiders, and a weepy ghost, they made it to their destination. Before they went inside, the little filly reached out and touched another one of those stars. Seeing such a cute, tidy house in the ruins gives her determination! > Dreams and Pies (Unedited) > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Toriel layed Rainbow down on the bed before her. She sighed at the sight of the poor filly. She passed out a few minutes ago from blood loss. Toriel needed to get on started healing her or she may not make it. Gently rolling Rainbow on her side, she raised her paws and got to work on the wound. Rainbow Dash was dreaming. The dream begin with her in a crystal castle. Rainbow looked up and noticed that some of the crystals stretched far above her head, all the way to the ceiling. The scenery was quite beautiful, but yet Rainbow couldn't help but feel worried. Yet strangly, she didn't know why though. This fact was confusing the poor filly greatly. She looked down and noticed a blue, rainbow maned pegasus, around 18-20 years of age, walking down the corridor. Rainbow was very confused, the pegasus looked exactly like her, only older. Rainbow flew over to the blue pony and started waving her hoof in front of their face. Hey, what's the big deal, huh? why do you look like me? Hey I’m talking to you! Hello! The blue pony seemed to not be able to see, or hear, her. This sucks. Rainbow sighed. Time sped up until they found themselves standing outside a very large door. The rainbow maned duplicate pushed open the door and walked in. In the middle of the room was a table with a strange map on it. Around it was six chairs and one smaller one. Each one except for the smaller one had a cutie mark on it, and one even had Dashie's on it. It gave her the impression that she was part of all this somehow. Sitting at the head chair was a purple pony. Their face was blurred out so Rainbow coun’t see who it was. Not that she would actually know who it was, she couldn't remember anything. Dash was so distracted by the scenery that she didn't notice that the two older ponies started talking until the end of the conversation. “You need to get some sleep Rainbow, seeing things are not normal. You haven't been sleeping well as of late, so go to bed and get some rest.” The purple pony said. “But I’m not seeing things, ________! I’ve actually touched one of them!” Older Rainbow protested. “These things actually did happened! Oh Celestia, why did I think you'd actually believe me?” And with that the pegasus ran out of the room, and with the mare Rinbow was forced to follow. She could hear the purple pony yelling at older Rainbow to stop but it only fell to deaf ears. Everything went black. Rainbow woke with a start. She looked around the room before sighing. It was only a dream. But even so, why did she feel so betrayed? Rainbow shook her head before noticing that her pain was gone. She reached up and felt her head, finding that there was a bandage around it. Toriel must has taken care of it while she was asleep. She also noticed that she was in a very soft bed. Dashie pushed the blankets off her before crawling out of the bed and dropping onto the floor. She once more looked around the room, it was fairly clean with some toys and a box of shoes at the edge of the bed. There was also a closet with a bunch if different colored sweaters in it. She would've like to wear one, but it wouldn't have been right to wear someone else's clothes. She looked toward the large door and walked up to it. She jumped until she was able to grab hold of the doorknob. Rainbow hung there for a moment before she was able to open the door. Once the job of opening the door was complete she dropped back to the ground with a grin of accomplishment. With sense of childlike curiosity, the rainbow maned filly looked down the hallway. One end of the hall lead to a few other rooms and the other lead to... somewhere. Somewhere sounded much more interesting than here, so she headed to down the hall. She came across some stairs, but she ignored them and continued on. Rainbow entered a room with a large chair and table in it. There was also a fireplace. She watched the flames flicker back and forth for a bit before she noticed the smell of something baking. It smelled quite good. Dash followed the scent until she found herself in a kitchen. Toriel was standing at the counter humming. Rainbow walked over to the goat monster and gently tugged her robe, getting her attention. Toriel looked down at the filly with a smile. “Hello my child, It seems your awake. When you passed out I was worried, but I hope you had a good rest. Would you like some pie?” Rainbow nodded eagerly as they made there way back to the living room. Toriel set the gigantic pie down on the table. The pegasus grunted as she tried to get up on the chair so she could eat the pie. But she fell off and landed on her behind with a pout. Why did everything here have to be so big? Torel giggled at the sight of the pouting filly and picked her up. The motherly monster helped Dashie onto the chair. Once the little pegasus was seated, Toriel grabbed the knife and cut into the pie. Rainbow’s tongue hung out of her mouth at the smell of the baked good. Toriel put the pie on a plate and set it in front of Rainbow. “There you go, little one. Enjoy!” And with that the filly dug into the piece of pie with enthusiasm. “Have you remembered anything yet?” Toriel asked holding her paws together. Rainbow swallowed a bite before answering, “No, I’m sorry.” “That's okay, you don’t need to apologize. You hit your head quite hard, so your memory may take awhile to return. Or if at all.” She added the last part under her breath. Luckily, Rainbow Dash did not hear her. “What we really need to worry about right now is giving you a bath.” Rainbow’s eyes widened and looked down at herself. “Your a mess.” She giggled, picking Rainbow up and heading toward the bathroom. She set the filly on the ground and got down on her knees in front of the tub and started up the water. Once the water was warm enough she signaled for Rainbow to get in. The pegasus sighed. > The One in the Mirror (Unedited) > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Rainbow Dash grumbled as she walked out of the bathroom. Her fur was all fluffy and soft, making her look like a kitten. It's was embarrassing. Toriel clapped her paws. “There you go, you’re all clean! Now, how 'bout you explore a little before bed? If you need me I’ll be in the living room.” Toriel turned around and started heading off. “Wait!” Rainbow said quickly. “Yes, my child?” The filly clicked her hooves together nervously. “Can… can I call you mom?” Toriel looked at Rainbow with so much love that it was intoxicating. She reached down and hugged the fluffy pegasus. “Of course!” She ended the hug with a pat on Rainbow’s head and walked toward the living room. Rainbow looked down the hall and noticed a mirror. Wanting to see what she looked like, she headed over to it. She stood on her hind hooves and looked in the mirror. What she saw though nearly made her scream. There was someone behind her! She looked behind her before back at the mirror. It seemed that It was not actually behind her, just in the mirror. The thing was an ape like creature that had brown hair and red eyes. It was also wearing a green and yellow striped sweater. It appears that the thing in the mirror was just as shocked as Rainbow was. What the fuck?! It screamed in Rainbow’s head, making her realize that the thing was what she has been hearing since she fell. Eventually, both of them calmed down. They studied each other before Rainbow finally spoke. “Hi? What's your name?” Rainbow asked slowly. I’m Chara. It- no, she said. “I’m Rainbow Dash." I know, I’ve only heard it like a million times. She grunted, crossing her arms. Rainbow huffed at Chara’s attitude. “Okayyy, what are you doing in the mirror?” She asked. I’m not in the mirror, stupid. I’m in your head, and no I have no clue why I’m in your head. I was in someone else's before this. Chara said. “Whose head were you in?” Rainbow asked, swishing her tail across the ground. She’s got to admit, it kinda creepy that somebody was in her head, but was also kind of cool. None if your damn business! The ape snapped. And stop calling me an ape! I’m a human! HUE-MAN! Your almost as bad as Frisk! Rainbow smirked. Oh God, I just told you who’s head I was in, didn't I? She hit her head against the mirror, mumbling how stupid she was. Rainbow just giggled, got down on all fours, and started to walk toward the living room. She peaked into the room and saw Toriel knitting a red and pink striped sweater that looked like it would fit a pony. Toriel looked up and saw Rainbow peeking around the corner and smiled. She got up and walked over to the filly. “Hello, my child. I just finished making something for you. I hope you like it.” Rainbow let her goat mom slip the sweater on her. It felt warm and comfortable. Mom really likes you, especially if she made a sweater for you. You know she likes someone when she makes a sweater for them. Chara chimed in. Rainbow hummed in acknowledgment and hugged the boss monster. “Thank you,” she whispered. > Chara's Rant (Unedited) > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- I just don't get this pony, she's just so... so... friendly! She's almost as friendly as Frisk, if that's even possible. Speaking of Frisk, I wonder what happened to her? Was she erased during the last RESET? No, if she was completely erased, I wouldn't exist. That RESET though, I wasn't expecting it. Sure Frisk and I have RESET far to many times then we can count, but this one came so suddenly. Let me start from the beginning. The first time Frisk fell she was so scared so I, being the nice person I was, decided to make myself known and help guide her through the underground. Of course I've always been with Frisk, she just aware of me until she fell. Anyway, throughout the journey I started to feel these urges. The urge to kill. So, when Frisk finally reached the surface with all her friends, I took over and RESET. Out of curiosity, I started our first genocidal run. Me and Frisk fought over the RESET button consistently. When I started killing she would RESET, and when Frisk reached the surface I would RESET. Eventually, I reached the judgment hall for the first time, and you know who I saw? Sans. Who would have thought that Sans would be such a pain in the ass to kill? After a long battle and thousands of reloads, I finally killed that comedian when somehow Frisk gained enough control to bring up the RESET button. We fought until somehow we where both in control at the same time, and then we both pressed RESET. Next thing in know I'm waking up in the head of a PONY! Sigh, looks like I'm going to be stuck here awhile. Might as well get comfortable. > Meeting Sans (Unedited) > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sans stood outside the door waiting. He sighed. The last RESET was terrible, it took a lot out of him to try and stop Chara. But in the end he died. He just hoped that Frisk was able to fight off Chara and start a pacifist run. Speaking of Frisk, where is she? Shouldn't she be out of there by now? Suddenly the door creaked open, a little head peaked out. Instead of Frisk, he was staring at a rainbow maned pony wearing a red and pink sweater. She looked at Sans with a mix of shock and fear. What. The. Hell. One hour ago Rainbow squealed in happiness as she threw leafs into the air and ran around in circles. She was playing outside the house with Toriel. Ughhh, your high pitch squealing is giving me a headache. Lighten up, will ya? It’s fun time! Suddenly, Toriel walked over to Rainbow and rubbed her head softly. “It's time to head back inside, little one. I need to run a few errands.” Rainbow groaned, but got out of the leafs and headed back inside. Once they were inside, Rainbow turned to Toriel and started playing with her sweater nervously. “Where are you going?” “I’m heading to Waterfall. I need to get some more snails for the pie I’m making. I also need to pick up some more yarn from a friend.” Seeing Rainbow’s worried face, she added, “Do not worry, my child. I’ll be back in a few hours.” “Can I come with you?” Rainbow asked. Suddenly, Toriel looked very nervous, much to the fillies confusion. “I’m sorry, my child, you can not. It's very dangerous for you outside the Ruins. As a pony living in the underground, monsters may attack you. There also… someone else who would want you...” Toriel’s eyes become glassy. “Okay,” Rainbow sighed. Toriel snapped out of whatever fluke she was in and smiled at the filly. “Be good~!” And with that, she disappeared from sight down the stairs. Rainbow stood there staring at the stairs for a bit before she headed toward to living room and sat in front of the fireplace. Well this sucks. Tell me about it. Well- I didn't mean that literally! Rainbow snorted before noticing that she was thirsty. She got up and headed to the kitchen and pulled out a cup and got some water. While she was drinking, her eye gazed at the fridge. Wouldn't hurt to look right? She put the cup away and opened up the fridge. There was a tin of pie, some bottles of water, and… and…… Oh my God, is that chocolate?! What only could be described as a powerful force plowing her over, Rainbow found herself thrust in the back of her mind for the first time as Chara took control. Unknown to both of them, their eyes started to glow red. What the heck? Why can’t I feel my hooves? Hey, what's going on! Chara grabbed to chocolate bar and fumbed with the warper for a bit before she managed to get it open. Chara licked her lips and stuffed the chocolate in her mouth. She groaned at the smooth, rich taste of the sugary sweet. “Oh lord, I haven’t had this in so long! Its sooo good~!” Chara felt Rainbow shiver at the sound of their voice. It sounded like Rainbow's, but yet not. It was much more dark and echoey. It was kinda creepy. Okay you had your fun, give me my body back now. “Yes, yes of course.” Chara handed control back to Rainbow. The blue pegasus stumbled over their hooves before finally catching herself. “Please give me a little warning next time you do that. That did not feel good, not good at all.” Rainbow growled. Ooh, feisty! I like it! Rainbow took a deep breath and let it out. 20 minutes later they were sitting in front of the fire, batting a ball back and forth. Rainbow leaned back and sighed. “I’m bored,” She mumbled. Me too. Hey, how bout we explore downstairs? “Can’t. Mom forbid it, remember?” What are you, chicken? Rainbow felt her fur bristle. “Who you calling chicken?” You. “I ain't no chicken, and I’m going to show you too! I’m going to go down those stairs and show you I’m not one!” Rainbow got up and left the living room and went down the stairs. It was really dark. “Your a bad influence on me, you know that right?” She could see Chara grin in her mind's eye. Yup. Eventually they came across a large door that looked very old and worn down. Rainbow didn't know what to do, so she put a hoof on it. “Should we open it?” She asked. Chara was quiet for a moment but eventually spoke up. She sounded very determined. Yeah, lets do it! Rainbow nodded and pushed on the door, only to find that it was stuck. Rainbow grunted. She was determined to get it open, so she pushed even harder. There's was a loud creak and a blast of cold air as she finally got it open. The filly grinned with satisfaction. Go on, look outside! Trust me you’ll like it! Dashie blinked in confusion but stuck her head outside anyway. What she saw nearly made her fall over. Standing in front of her was a smiling skeleton wearing a blue hoodie, black shorts, and slippers. Oh shit, it's Sans! Who? They guy in front of you! Quickly, get back inside! Rainbow swiftly shut the door. Once it was shut, she leaned against the door and tried to calm her racing heart. After a minute there was a knocking at the door. Don’t answer! “Who’s t-there?” She sqweaked. Damnit Rainbow! “Sans, Sans the Skeleton.” He said “You don’t have to be afraid kid, I’m not going to hurt ya.” “Promise?” Sans was silent for a moment before Rainbow heard a sigh. “Promise.” Dash stood there for a moment before she decided to open the door again. She peeked around the corner and stared at Sans. “Hey kid, what do you call a horse that lives next door?” He said, trying to break the ice. “I don’t know.” Rainbow shrugged. “A neighbour.” Rainbow cracked a grin and started giggling. It was so stupid that it was funny. “So your a pony, that's hilarious. I wasn't expecting to see a pony stick their head outside today.” Sans said while sticking his bony hands in the pockets of his hoodie. “I’m sorry, were you expecting somepony else?” Rainbow tilted her head to its side. “Actually, I was.” “Who? Was it mom?” The pun loving skeleton gave her a weird look. “Who’s your mom?” He asked. “Toriel,” she said simply. Speaking of Torel, the filly could see the goat monster approaching quickly with three bags in her paws. When Toriel got to her she dropped to bags and scoped Rainbow up in the arms. “My child, what are you doing out here?!” “I’m sorry mom, I got bored so I decided to explore. I’m sorry.” She whimpered. The loving goat monster sighed and turned and looked at Sans “If you hurt her in any way, so help me...” She growled, pulling Rainbow closer to her body. “I’m okay mom, he promised not to hurt me. He’s actually rather nice!” She smiled. “The kids right, I wouldn't hurt a fly,” he said while shrugging his shoulders. That's a lie. Rainbow felt a little worried when Chara said that, but she ignored it. She turned her attention back to Toriel who was looking at Sans with new found respect. “How 'bout you come in, we can discuss this further over some tea.” > Tea Time Promises (Unedited) > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Rainbow Dash watched the scene before her with curiosity. Toriel and Rainbow was drinking tea. Toriel offered Sans some, but he turned it down and instead pulled out a bottle of Ketchup and started drinking it. “Can I have some?” Rainbow asked, Toriel but sadly she said no. “It's not very healthy.” She said while taking a sip of her tea. Sans cracked a few puns but overall kept quiet and let Toriel tell the story on how she met Rainbow Dash. After about five minutes, Rainbow grew bored and left the room. Once the blue pegasus was gone, the boss monster looked at Sans with worry. “Sans, I’m worried about Rainbow Dash.” She sighed. “Worried how?” Sans asked while taking a sip of his Ketchup. “She talks to herself, constantly. It's almost like she is actually talking to someone. I know it’s normal for children to have imaginary friends at her age and all, but this seems to be… something more.” Toriel didn't notice that Sans stopped drinking his Ketchup and was now staring at her with empty eye sockets. “I think part of the reason is that she doesn't have any friends, so I have to ask you. Could you try to befriend her, please? I know we've just met, but she needs someone she can look up to other then me.” She begged. “You're basically saying you want me to protect her, right?” He asked slowly. “Er, yes” He was quiet for a moment before he spoke up and said, “Sure, I’ll do it.” Toriel got up and hugged Sans. “Thank you, Sans.” Meanwhile, Sans was conflicted. He knew this pony was weird, heck her being here in the first place was weird! But talking to herself? It strikes him as suspicious. He’ll need to bring this up with Dashie later. Speaking of Rainbow, he could see her out of the corner of his eye socket. Toriel seemed to have not noticed yet, but the pony has been peeking around the corner listening on their conversation since to beginning. Something about her caught his attention through. Insead of her eyes being a deep pink color, they were glowing red. He knew exactly who she has been talking too. Chara growled, that comedian is really getting on her nerves. She is done with genocide (for now at least) but still, he just won't let her live her afterlife in peace. Well its kinda hard to live in peace when your stuck in the head of a currently panicked five year old filly. Oh no no no! They are onto us! What are we going to do?! WHAT ARE WE GOING TO DO?!?!?! Calm down, your freaking out is why I took over in the first place! > Surge Of Knives (Unedited) > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Rainbow Dash paced around in her room in the dark. She couldn't stop thinking about what she and Chara witnessed only a few hours ago. Rainbow was nervous. Toriel and Sans were on to them. They knew something was up. Uggh, Rainbow just calm down and go to bed! We're tired and I just want to freaking SLEEP! But what if- Worry about it in the morning and GO TO BED BEFORE I MAKE YOU! The young filly flinched at the sharp pain of an upcoming headache. Chara could be ear piercing when she wanted to be. And that was saying something because the hue-mon was ALREADY quite loud. Rainbow let out a sigh of defeat and slowed to a stop. "I guess you're right, maybe I should go to bed." The cyan filly mumbled. Finally. Chara sighed. Dashie crawled into bed, pulled the covers over her, and stared up at the ceiling. "But-" OH MY FUCKING GOD, JUST GO TO SLEEP!!! Scared. She was scared. Why was she scared? Running. She was running. Why was she running? It was dark. WHY WAS IT SO DARK? Pacifist. GENOCIDE. Good Ending. BAD ENDING. Save. RESET. Ending. Save. ENDING. Mercy. ENDING. ENDING. LOVE. Save. All-Powerful. All-Knowing. Pain. Agony. Intertwined. Dust. No more dust. Better Ending? Rebirth? TRUE RESET? Dark? It is dark. It is darker. Yet even darker. ESCAPE. Run. Keep running. He is watching. He knows. It's all her fault. THE TRUE MONSTER. He is going to kill her. She is going to kill everyone. It's all her fault. Can't escape the past. Can't escape the Timeline. Can't escape Him. HE IS GOING TO KILL HER. No more. NO MORE DUST. FREE THE MONSTER. Please. Help them. They bolted upward, gasping for breath. Their eyes were fuzzy. They couldn't breath. Tears were running down their face. They were shaking. Their flanks were burning. RUN RUN RUN RUN. NEED TO RUN. HE IS COMING. WE NEED TO RUN. Someone put their hand on their shoulder. HE IS HERE. KILL. They smacked the hand away and pounced at their attacker. When their hooves touched the ground, the burning in their flanks quickly became a red hot energy that engulfed their whole body. KILL. KILL. NEED TO KILL HIM. KNIVES. NEED MY KNIVES. The red hot energy leaked outside their body and bent to their will. KNIVES KNIVES KNIVES KNIVES. KILL HIM. NEED TO KILL HIM. CAN'T ESCAPE. KILL. "RAINBOW STOP!!!" Rainbow stopped, blinking in confusion. The little filly's vision begin to clear up. "...Huh?" Standing before Rainbow was Sans, and behind him was Toriel. The goat monster had her large white paws over her muzzle, a horror-struck look on her face. "Mom? Sans? What is…?" Dashie groaned in pain and held her head. Ughhh, my head hurts... Chara moaned. Rainbow only groaned in response and dropped to the floor. The tiny pegasus didn't even bother looking up when she heard things crash around her. Her body was burning. "Kid?" All Rainbow Dash could do was grunt in response. Things were still for a moment before Dashie heard the sound of footsteps approach her. Rainbow didn't even attempt to fight back when she felt Sans boney hands pick her up. "Hey, uh, kid?" Sans said slowly. "Can you open your eyes for me?" Rainbow forced her burning eyes to open. Sans was holding Rainbow in front of him. He stared at her with an unreadable expression. "...You okay?" The punny skeleton asked. "Burning," Rainbow mumbled simply. Sans was quiet for a moment before saying in a low tone, "That was quite the magic surge, kid. Didn't even know that anything other than a monster could use that level of magic." Rainbow grunted, "Pony?" "No, my child," said Toriel, finally speaking up after her long silence. "That wasn't pony magic." The motherly goat monster walked over and gently took the filly from Sans. Toriel cradled Dashie within her arms and gazed down at the young pegasus with a look of intense worry. "But it doesn't seem to be exactly monster either." Rainbow begun to feel exhaustion taking over her. She fought with her instincts and tried to stay awake. "It's okay, my child, you can sleep. I will be here with you all night." The goat mom whispered lovingly. Dashie's eyes soon fell shut, and then nothing. Toriel gazed down at the poor filly. Rainbow twitched slightly in her sleep. The boss monster sighed. She laid her pony child down on her bed and covered her up. "Toriel," Sans said from behind her, "I'm guessing that this is not normal for a pony." "You are right, Sans," Toriel whispered. "This is not normal for a pony. Yes, they have magic, but not like this. This is… different. Her magic is more like a monsters then a pony's. But yet…" Toriel thought about about what she and Sans just saw. Glowing, demented, yet scared black and red eyes staring at her with no sign of recognition. Rainbow colored tears running down the filly's face. The red knives circling around her body. Toriel suddenly remembered something she saw on Rainbow. It was only for a quick second, but-- no. They will worry about it later. Rainbow needs to rest. It was probably nothing... > The Sins of a RESET (Unedited) > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- When Rainbow Dash woke up the next morning, she felt quite warm. Something large and soft was curled-up next to her. In the back of the filly's mind, she felt Chara stirring. Why are we so hot? The hue-mon grumbled. Dashie grunted sleepily in response and turned her head to the side, quickly finding out why they were so warm. Toriel was curled around them protectively, snoring quietly. Why is momma-- oh. Oh yeah, I think… I think something happened last night, right? Don't know, don't care. All I care about right now is that your flanks are stinging. It's highly irritating. Now that it was pointed out, Chara was right. Rainbow was now noticing that her flanks were, in fact, stinging. The rainbow maned pegasus was quite confused. Why is my cutie marks hurting? Being the young filly she was, Rainbow's curiosity drove her to see why her flanks were bothering her. Dashie wiggled out of her goat-mother's hold, kicked the blankets off, and crawled across the bed and hopped to the floor. Okay, time to see why she was hurting. Dashie took a deep breath and looked behind her. … Okay, she has found why her cutie marks were hurting. Rainbow's cutie mark looked... different. Her rainbow lightning bolt was still there, but it wasn't coming out of a white cloud anymore. The white cloud was replaced by a red heart with a crack down the center. Hey, your butt-mark is different. Is that normal for your kind? Is it like a puberty thing for your tattoos to level up or something? Dash stared at the alien mark on her flank. I-I don't know, is it? Is t-this normal? Her confusion was quickly turning into fear. She dug into her memories, scouring through her mind for what she knew about her kind, which wasn't very much. Rainbow searched for anything, ANYTHING, to tell her about why her cutie mark has changed. Nothing. She knew nothing. It suddenly hit her, hard. Rainbow knew nothing but her name and some basic information. She did not remember her pony family. She did not remember her pony friends. She did not remember her pony foes. She did not remember her pony past. Her identity, her DESTINY. Is was missing. All there was for who she was… … was blank. Rainbow Dash's body began to shake, hard. It felt like the walls were closing in around her. She couldn't breath. Who was she? Rainbow Dash, calm down! "Don't tell me to calm down!" The rainbow maned filly snapped outloud. She froze and looked over at her bed when she heard Toriel snort in her sleep. "...Pie…" The goat Monster turned onto her back and let out a loud snore. ...God mom, you never change, do you? Chara mumbled. Dashie quickly forgot about her existential crisis at this new information. Huh? What do you mean? Have you meet her before? ...I don't want to talk about it. Come on, you can-- I DON'T WHAT TO TALK ABOUT IT, RAINBOW DASH!!! Rainbow let out a yelp at the sudden sharp spike of pain in her head. She rubbed her temples with a groan. Chara was quiet for a moment before she mumbled softly, I… I just don't want to talk about it, alright? Rainbow could feel it. Chara was guilty about hurting her just now. The hue-mon didn't come out in say it outright, but Rainbow somehow just knew. Suddenly, the filly's cheeks began to warm up. I'm confused, why am I blushing Chara? I-I, um, uh-- hey, we should probably wake up mom, right?! Let's do that! Rainbow Dash laughed. Sans flopped onto the ground. He was back at his and his younger brother Papyrus's home in Snowdin. The short skeleton stared up at the ceiling, thinking. Rainbow Dash… that pony is something else. Sans sighed and pulled a bottle of ketchup out from the pocket of his hoodie. He took a drink. Where did she come from and how did that demon child end up in her head? And where's Frisk? Sans felt a bit frustrated. He did not understand what was going on. From what information he could gather from around the Underground, no one even remembered the existence of Humans. All anyone talked about were Ponies. But the parallels between the stories of Humans and Ponies were uncanny. Apparently, there was even a war with these Ponies, just like there was with the Humans. Strangely, it was their fault that Monsters were trapped Underground, not the Humans. Something must have happened during the last RESET after I died. Sans wondered. What changed? What happened to Frisk? And how does this connect to Rainbow? Sans thought back to what he and Toriel saw last night. Even dispute all this, it seems that not everything has been changed. Chara is still here and is very active. She even seems to be in possession of magic somehow. Rainbow Dash is literally a walking timebomb waiting to explode. Sans closed his eye sockets. When will this all finally end? When can I just finally... rest? The front door suddenly slammed open, knocking the punny skeleton out of his thoughts. "SANS, WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE?! WHY AREN'T YOU RECALIBRATING-- YOUR-- PUZZLES?!?!?!?!?!" Then Papyrus noticed where Sans was laying. The taller skeleton squinted down at the shorter in confusion. "BROTHER, WHY ARE YOU LAYING ON THE FLOOR?" He asked. Sans shrugged. "I don't know, I guess I'm just-" "SANS, DON'T YOU DARE…!" "-'Floored.'" "NYEEEEEEEEHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!" . . The dust. . . . She was currently waiting for Toriel to finish making breakfast, so in the meantime she was doing what any bored 5 year old filly would do in a situation like this. Get into trouble. Usually that wouldn't be much of a problem. Unfortunately, this filly wasn't a normal filly. She was Rainbow Dash. That and she also had a troublemaking, equally as bored demonic child hitchhiking in her head. Okay Rainbow Dash, if my theory is correct and we can use magic, then this SHOULD work. Rainbow nodded, she could feel her determination growing. It was pumping through her veins, filling the small pegasus with energy. Let's go over the plan one more time. What you need to do is focus your intention and direct it into your SOUL, which should resonate with your DETERMINATION. This should cause a magical feedback that will manifest your intentions into reality. You got this all remorized? Rainbow nodded again. The hue-mon was using big words but the filly got the gist of what she was saying. Let's just hope that we don't burn the house down. Chara mumbled to herself before she spoke directly to the young filly. You ready, partner? Rainbow grinned in a way that would seem nerve-racking if in came from anyone but her. Ready! Launching in 3...2...1-- The pegasus focused her intentions and made a loud sound in the back of her throat. FIRE THE LOOGIE! With a loud hack, Rainbow launched a bright red ball of wet disgustingness into the fire. The flames reacted by causing a miniature explosion. Next thing Rainbow knew she was covered in soot and sitting in the corner, blinking stupidly at the wall. Her angry goat-mom was pacing around ranting about the dangers of mixing DETERMINATION with monster magic. Welp, THAT just happened. Rainbow nickered with a bit of anxiety. Mom is angry! Calm down, it's not the end of the world. Okay, sure, we burt the floor- -And the rug. Rainbow added. And the rug... but still! At least we didn't set the house on fire, right? Things could have been a LOT worse. ... I guess you're right-- but mom still looks like her head is going to pop. Fascinating. I wonder what that would that look like? Chara mummbled gleefully. Chaaara, that kills people! Rainbow whined. Silence. The hue-mon suddenly broke out laughing. What? What did I say? Why are you laughing?? Rainbow Dash? Yeah? You are now officially awesome. A big grin appeared on the filly's face that seemed to stretch from one ear to the other. She puffed out her chest-- which, unknown to her, caused her fur and down feathers to poof out cutely. Suddenly, there was a high-pitched squeal that caused Dashie to nearly jump out of her fur. The small filly whipped around and stared at Toriel in shock. The boss monster had her large paws over her mouth, gazing at Rainbow Dash with a starstruck expression. "Rainbow Dash, my child, you are so adorable~!" Cue embarrassed filly squeak. > Fancy Stars and the Déjà Vu Dilemma (Unedited) > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Rainbow Dash was sitting under the tree outside the house, watching the red leaves slowly fall. It was weird, she was underground but yet there seemed to be seasons. Chara recently told her about seasons. The earth was constantly going through some kind of cycle of life and death, and that it was an automatic process. Rainbow was confused at first. Something inside her told her that it didn't work like that, but she was in no place to argue about it. She barely remembered anything about the outside world. The young filly closed her eyes and took a moment to listen to the district sound of Froggit's. The sound of Froggit's croaking happily in the distance filled Rainbow Dash with DETERMINATION. Rainbow cracked open an eye and watched the weird star near the house flash momentarily. "Still don't understand the point of those fancy stars," Rainbow mumbled. SAVE Points, Chara suddenly said, cutting through the silence and making the young filly jump. "C-Chara? You scared me! I thought you were asleep!" She shuttered out. Nope, Chara said well popping the 'P', I can't sleep unless you do, unfortunately. The most I can do is doze off. Anyway, those are called SAVE Points, not 'fancy stars.' Dash was quiet for a moment before she asked, "What's a SAVE Point?" A SAVE Point is where you can, uh, save your 'Data' per say. "Data?" Oh God, how do I explain this in words you will understand. Chara mumbled before speaking directly to the younger of the two. If someone has enough DETERMINATION within their Soul, then that person can, um, 'edit' they're Soul Imprint into the very fabric of reality, leaving a 'tear' of sorts. Because of this 'tear in reality', if they die before their inner 'clock' reaches its set end, than the person's Soul can, uh, 'refuse' death and 'rewind' time and 'Load' at the last point they stored their 'Data'. Get it? Rainbow Dash stared wide eyed at the SAVE Point. "... I can do that? I can reverse my own death?" She whispered in awe. Yes. The rainbow manes pegasus was silent for a second before she yelled out "Awesome!" At the top of her lungs. "What else can I do?!" Well, uh, you can RESET, see other peoples Stats, store your Items in the Void, give MERCY, and… some other things. Rainbow Dash squirted her eyes and tilted her head to the side. "'Some other things? Wha--" It's nothing, don't worry about it. "... Okay?" They sat in silence for a bit before Chara broke it by saying something very weird. This whole situation is giving me some serious déjà vu. "What's déjà vu?" Rainbow asked. It literally means 'already seen'. It is used the describe that very weird feeling that you've done, or seen this before. But that doesn't make sense… the last time I've explained this was when… Chara zoned off, mumbling incomprehensibly to herself. "Uh, Chara?" No response. "Welp, she's out for the count." Rainbow sighed to herself and leaned back. She gazed up at the tree, thinking. For some reason, everything about the Underground was starting to feel familiar. It was like… she's seen all this before. Now that she thought about it, the very first thing she knew after she fell into the Underground was the strong sense of 'Have I been here before?' The filly thought back to two days ago when Toriel finally noticed that Rainbow's cutie mark changed. The goat monster seemed… disturbed. Rainbow tried asking Toriel about it, but Toriel seemed just as confused as she was. But then… something weird happened. Something that Rainbow still can't explain. "I am sorry, my child, but I do not know why your cutie mark has changed. Although, something about it seems… familiar. I just can't seem to... to…" Toriel stared off into space with a lost expression on her face. "Mom? Mom, are you okay?" Rainbow Dash asked worriedly. After a moment, the Boss Monster snapped out off whatever fluke she was in with a smile. "Oh hello, my child! When did you get here? I thought you were playing in your room?" Toriel asked with an air of confusion. Rainbow raised an eyebrow, "Uh, I've been standing here for a while. We literally just talked about my cutie mark, remember?" "...We did?" Rainbow Dash was still scratching her head over it. Nothing made sense to her anymore. > The Butterflies That Flutter Away [Part 1] (Unedited) > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Rainbow Dash yawned loudly as she did some stretches, loosening up her muscles. "Today is going to be a great day!" She announced to her empty bedroom with a large grin. Chara just growled. Rainbow huffed, "What's got YOU in a twist?" It's a Monday, and we have to wake up fucking early. Two things I hate in a single day. The young filly huffed as she pulled her favorite sweater over her head. "That's the point, Chara! Mom said she wanted to show us her favorite butterfly catching spot today, remember?" That woman is the devil, the devil I say! Only the devil would make someone wake up at this ungodly hour TO CATCH FUCKING BUGS!!! Rainbow Dash rolled her eyes playfully as Chara continued ranting about having to wake up early to catch butterflies. The filly was starting to get used to the headaches her hot-headed companion caused. After a few minutes, she asked, "Are you done with your rant yet?" I mean seriously, who in their right mind would wake up at this time?! It's unnatural! Dashie sighed, "I'll take that as a 'no'." Rainbow Dash quickly created a SAVE Point in her bedroom. Now that she knew how it worked, she could create SAVE Points wherever she wanted. Chara, for some reason, found this very interesting. She said that it was unusual that Rainbow could create new SAVE Points on a whim. She said it might have something to do with the "Unique nature of Rainbow Dash's magic and how it responds to her freakishly high level of Determination." Rainbow snorted and Saved her Data. In her opinion, it's just because the universe recognizes her as the true superior lifeform and was rewarding her as such. Once she was done Saving, she left her bedroom and headed to the bathroom, where she proceeded to do her 'business'. Afterwards, she trotted to the living room. Toriel was already setting up breakfast. The rainbow maned filly began drooling when she smelled what was for breakfast. Butterscotch-cinnamon pie with a glass of bumbleberry juice. Bumbleberries were a special kind of berry that can grow underground without the aid of sunlight. This is good because, according to Toriel, ponies need to periodically eat fruit to keep from getting very sick. Rainbow Dash let out a small neigh of joy and trotted over to the table. She stared up at the large chair in annoyance. Suddenly, the cyan filly was picked up and set on the chair. Toriel let out a soft chuckle. "Hehehe, you are so cute when your annoyed, my child!" Toriel said with a smile as she cut Dashie a slice of pie. "We should probably get you a stepping stool, huh?" Dashie pouted, "I'm not small!" Toriel just chuckled as she set the filly's breakfast down in front of her. The large goat-monster quickly got herself her own breakfast and sat down across from her adopted daughter. They began eating. Today is going to be a great day. Rainbow Dash and Toriel were standing in the bathroom. Toriel was trying to tame the filly's messy mane. "Hold still, my child!" Toriel grunted as she fought to free the hairbrush from a bad knot in Rainbow's mane. Don't tell us to hold still you fucking bitch! Tug. I WILL BURN YOU!!! Rainbow Dash let out a birdlike squawk as her goat-mother finally got the hairbrush free. Toriel stared blankly at the hairbrush before glaring at her daughter's mane in slight frustration. "However did your mane get this tangled, Rainbow Dash?" Toriel mumbled as she resumed brushing. Rainbow's eyes flashed red momentarily and she let out a deep-throated growl. The hairbrush got stuck in her mane again. Chara screamed with unholy rage. "Come on, mom! Come on, come on, come on!" Rainbow Dash yelled as she hopped around Toriel with enthusiastic energy. The said boss-monster was standing at the bathroom sink, trying to wash off the red-colored soot covering her upper half. Toriel was shocked when, right in the middle of brushing Rainbow Dash's mane, the filly screamed and set herself on fire. It didn't really hurt Toriel, it just surprised her more than anything. The goat-monster removed the washcloth she was using to try to clean it up off her face. She stared at the strange, dusty red substance. She couldn't help but wonder to herself what it was. Suddenly, a possible answer came to her. 'Is this… is this Determination?' Toriel wondered to herself. "Moooooom," Rainbow Dash whined loudly, "I want to see the butterflies!" Toriel paused, 'Oh yeah, my promise.' She couldn't help but smile. 'She actually WANTS to see my favorite butterfly catching spot.' Toriel chuckled softly and set down the washcloth on the sink. She turned around and scooped up her determined little bundle of energy. "Yes, yes, my child. I know you want to see the butterflies." Toriel smiled at Dashie as she walked them out of the bathroom and down the hall. "We should probably get going, huh?" "Yay!" Rainbow cheered with joy. Rainbow pranced around her mother's feet as the two walked through the Ruins. "Butterflies! Butterflies!" Rainbow chanted as Toriel tried to steer her away from traps. Rainbow wasn't worried though, if she died she would just come back! "Rainbow Dash, be careful!!!" Toriel cried out. The young pegasus giggled as she danced carelessly around a bunch of spikes sticking out of the ground. Once she got to the other side, she waved her hooves at Toriel. "It's alright, mom! I'm okay! See?" Rainbow said with a large grin. When Toriel finally caught up with her daughter, she scooped her up into her arms and held her close. Rainbow could feel the Monster's nervous sweat dripping onto her head. "Ew!" Rainbow cringed away. "H-How about I c-carry you, my c-child?" Toriel shuttered as she looked back at the spikes Rainbow was dancing around just a moment ago. "It's probably a lot m-more f-fun than… trotting c-carelessly through the d-dangerous p-puzzles like they are a marry-go-round!" Rainbow just responded with a bout of light laughter. She reached out and placed a hoof on her mother's chest. "It's okay mom, I've got it under control!" Rainbow said, trying to comfort her with a smile. Toriel hesitated for a moment before letting out a sigh. She set Rainbow back down on the ground. "If only Sans accepted our invitation to come with us today. Things would've been a lot less nerve-racking." It's not a problem with me. The farther that comedian is from us the better. Although, it kind of innerves me that he turned down the invitation. What's he up to? Rainbow frowned. Chara was right, with the way he has been watching her, you'd think he would "jump" at the chance to come with. I'll ask Mom about it. "Why did Sans turn it down?" Rainbow asked her goat-mom. "Hmm, I don't know," Toriel wondered. "I think he said something about doing some bird watching?" ...Bird watching? Chara suddenly broke down in a fit of loud laughter. Her laughter was so hard, it caused her to unknowingly take control of Rainbow Dash's body and fall to the ground in a historical fit. "Bird watching?!?! Oh my fucking God, that is- that is- oh my GOD! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!" ... "Rainbow?" Chara suddenly cut her laughter short. She opened her eyes and stared up into Toriel's concerned eyes. "...Uh…" Chara was at a lost for words. Chara? Rainbow squeaked in the back of her mind. Chara began sweating with fear. Abort! Abort! Chara mentaly grabbed ahold of Rainbow Dash and forcefully shoved her back into control. She quickly fled as far back into her host's mind as she could possibly go. Once she felt like Rainbow wouldn't find her for awhile, she retreated into herself. She began trying to get her panic attack under control. She just wasn't prepared... Meanwhile, Rainbow Dash just laid on the ground, staring up at her mother not knowing what else to do. "Rainbow, my child? Are… are you alright? Play it cool! Just play it cool! Rainbow cleared her throat and gave Toriel a shaky smile. "O-Of course I'm alright! I'm Rainbow Dash! Why wouldn't I be alright?" She shakily worked herself back up onto her hooves and shook herself off. "My child, are you--" Toriel was cut off by her daughter's airy laugh. "I'm alright, mom! Let's… just get going, okay? I want to see those butterflies! Toriel watched Rainbow Dash trot off with an unsure frown. 'Those eyes…,' she flinched at the memory of what she had just seen. It reminded her of… something. Something that she… can't seem to…. remember…,... Forget. . . . What was she thinking about again? > The Butterflies That Flutter Away [Part 2] (Unedited) > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Rainbow Dash walked slowly down the hallway. Toriel was now leading them to the butterfly spot, not her. Toriel put her foot down and took control of the situation after she almost impaled herself for the third time. Maybe it was for the best. Rainbow literally had no clue where she was going. The only real downside to the situation was that it gave her too much time to think. She doesn't LIKE to think. Chara hasn't been responsive since the incident that happened a little over a half-an-hour ago. Rainbow literally didn't remember the last time her head was this empty. To say that it was unnerving would be an understatement. It was too quiet and she didn't like it. It scared her, badly. She didn't want to be alone. She didn't want to be this empty. She needed her friend. Chara, Rainbow called out desperately. Chara, please! Please talk to me! Her eyes were starting to become wet. I'm scared, it's too quiet! Suddenly, like a flip of a switch, there was music playing in her head. Rainbow stopped walking and stared ahead with a look of intense perplexity. Did… Did my head just become a radio? Chaaaara, whyyy??? Rainbow suddenly got a strong sense of pity, and for a moment she did not understand why. Then it dawned on her. Chara was trying to comfort her. Rainbow Dash gave a soft, thankful smile. She chuckled a bit as she began walking again, although a bit faster than before. She hummed along to the music in her head happily. Thanks. "Mom, are we there yet?" Rainbow complained as she galloped up to Toriel's side, quickly falling into rhythm with her mother. "I'm getting bored!" "Yes Rainbow Dash, we are almost there," Toriel confirmed with a chuckle. She pointed ahead, drawing her daughter's attention to the upcoming doorway. Rainbow's eyes widened and sparkled with glee. "Awesome!" She cheered and quickly ran ahead. "H-Hold on, Rainbow Dash! Wait for me!" The rainbow maned filly barreled through the doorway at high speeds. Barely taking any time to look around, she continued on her set path and ran down the stairs and through the next doorway. Rainbow Dash ran through a few hallways before she found herself in a VERY familiar room. She quickly slowed to a stop. The room was dark with only a single ray of sunshine shining in the center of the room, lighting up a patch of green grass. Rainbow Dash remembered this place. These was… this was where she was attacked by that scary flower. It felt like her blood was turning to ice. She couldn't stop herself from shaking in terror, and the more she stared at that empty patch of grass, the more her body shook. She just couldn't stop staring. Rainbow was barely aware that Chara has resurfaced and was now yelling at her. Rainbow Dash, calm down and listen to me! Rainbow took a shaky breath and let it out. She forced herself to focus on Chara. That's right, just focus on my voice. There's no need to freak out. Asri-- er, FLOWEY isn't here, okay? Just you and me. Your okay, Rainbow. Your okay. After a couple more minutes and some reassuring words, she began to calm down. Rainbow let out a weak chuckle. Where did you learn to calm people down like that? You seemed to know what you were doing. Eh, let's just say I've had a lot of practice. By the time Toriel caught up, she was pretty much back to normal. Rainbow Dash was thankful that it took her so long to get here. She didn't want to worry her. Toriel took one look around the room before wrinkling her muzzle in distaste, seeming to remember what took place here. She quickly guided Rainbow Dash across the room and through the final doorway. When Dashie walked through the doorway, she was quickly bathed in bright sunlight. She squawked and flinched back with a mix of surprise and pain. It hurts, it HURTS! Chara added her input by hissing like a vampire. "Hehehe, sorry my child! I forget to warn you about the sunlight!" Toriel laughed and gently guided the temporarily blind filly farther into the room. When Rainbow's eyes finally adjusted to the bright sunlight, she was greeted with the sight of a bed of familiar, beautiful golden flowers. As she took in the sight of the flora, she found herself taken back to her earliest memories. Four months ago, she woke up in these very same flowers. She was lost, confused, and bleeding from her fall. Rainbow slowly walked up to the flowers. She lifted her hoof and gently ran it through them, taking a moment to feel their soft petals. After a bit, she stepped into the flowerbed and laid down on her belly. She tucked her hooves underneath her body and closed her eyes. Rainbow didn't know why, but… she felt at peace. It felt… it felt like she should be here, laying among these golden flowers. Resting, sleeping, with no worries of the outside world. Rainbow took notice of the sound of rustling. Toriel sat down next to her. "It quite peaceful, isn't it my child?" Toriel sighed with contentment. Rainbow hummed a reply. They sat in silence for a while, just enjoying the sunshine and each other's company. The silence soon came to an end when Rainbow Dash heard Toriel's voice. "Look Rainbow," Toriel whispered eagerly. "It's a butterfly!" Rainbow opened her eyes and looked around. Her widening eyes soon landed on a fluttering pink creature a couple feet away. "That's a butterfly? It's so pretty!" Rainbow whispered as she watched it flutter around with child-like wonder. Toriel smiled and softly clicked her tongue at it before reaching a single paw out. Rainbow let out a gasp of astonishment when it landed on one of her goat-mother's fingers. "Wow! How did you do that?" She asked as she tried to wiggle closer to get a better look. Toriel giggled and brought the butterfly closer to her adopted daughter. "It's not very hard, my child," she answered. "All you gotta do is offer your friendship, love, and respect." Yuck, you can keep your friendship and respect. All I want is the LOVE. Rainbow squinted her eyes in puzzlement. How can you have love without friendship and respect? Is that even possible? Chara gave a slightly eerie chuckle and said, Oh yes, it possible. Very possible. It fact, monster's love LOVE. Just go ask Sans. He will tell you ALL about it; and hey, if you're determined enough, he might just include the light show that goes along with it-- free of charge! Hehehehehehehe~! Light show…? Rainbow blinked stupidly. Oookay than. Whatever you say, ya weirdo. Hehehe-- ! Chara cut her laughter off abruptly. Rainbow. Rainbow gave nonchalant reply of, Uh, yeah? What is it? We are being watched. I suggest you run-- like NOW! With little warning, all Rainbow could do was scramble to her hooves and dive out of the way as vines suddenly shot out of the ground violently. When Rainbow landed, she turned her head around and gaped in horror at the green vines of death looming over her. MOVE!!!! Dash screamed in terror, got back up onto her hooves, and took off running. Unfortunately, she didn't manage to get very far because four more vines shot out of the ground in front of her, effectively blocking her path. Then, there was laughter. Sickly twisted, demonic, familiar laughter. "Howdy! Remember ME?" > The Butterflies That Flutter Away [Part 3] (Unedited) > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Rainbow gulped with dread. She forced herself to slowly turn around and face her worst nightmare. Flowey was peeking out of the ground a little ways away. He gave her a menacing smile. "Wowwy, it sure has been awhile, huh?" He laughed in a way that made a shiver go down Rainbow's spine. She backed up against the vines in a vain attempt to get away from him. "Aww, aren'tcha just too cute? You actually think you can escape?" Flowey cackled. "That's adorable!" He swayed for a moment before stopping and letting his smile fall. "I would really LOVE to play around with ya, but unfortunately… that's not why I'm here." He gave her a dark, knowing look. "Let's cut to the chase. Four months, FOUR FUCKING MONTHS you've been playing this GAME, and I bet you feel really great about that, right? Hanging around. Laughing, playing. Living this… life. You have nothing to fear. You don't have to worry about anything and you are loved unconditionally." He glared at her. "You moron, don't you realize that you are living a LIE?!" Rainbow squeaked when the demonic flower disappeared into the ground and popped back up right in front of her. "This 'life' of yours, it was never meant for you!" Flowey swiftly stretched out and got up in Rainbow's face. "You were NEVER EVEN MEANT TO EXIST!!!" Rainbow Dash froze and stared wide eyed at the furious talking flower. I… I was never… meant to exist? "You took this life away from someone else! Someone who REALLY deserved it!" He continued screaming in her face. "YOU'RE NOTHING BUT A FREAKING VIRUS!!!!!" Suddenly, Chara took over and punched Flowey. Hard. "GET THE HELL OUT OF MY FACE, YOU BASTARD!!!" She snapped. He screamed and backed away, holding his face with his two large leaves. After a moment he removed them and stared at Chara in shock. Silence. Flowey's face went from shocked to murderus in 10 seconds flat. "YOU FUCKING BRAT!!!" He summoned a vine and wrapped it tightly around her barrel. He lifted Chara into the air and threw her against the cave wall. The impact was so hard it caused Chara to lose control and Rainbow to take over once again. There was a loud snap and Rainbow gasped loudly with a mix of shock and pain. She fell forward and onto the ground, feeling as though she couldn't catch her breath. Can't breath! Pain! Scared! Need to get up! Rainbow forced her hooves under her and struggled to stand up. The work caused her to start hacking. She collapsed back onto the ground and spat up fresh blood. "RAINBOW!!!!!" Mom!!! The young filly quickly glanced up in hope of being saved. But her glimmer of hope was quickly crushed when she saw Toriel struggling to free herself from Flowey's vines. "Shut up!!!" Flowey snapped at the frantic goat-monster and wrapped some vines around her muzzle. He turned his attention back to Rainbow. "Okay you little brat, here is how this is going to go. Either you tell me what the hell you did to fuck everything up, and where Frisk is, or I will kill you in the worst way physically possible. Got it?" The name 'Frisk' rung some bells in Rainbow's head. It sounded familiar but at the moment she couldn't remember where she heard it. She was too scared to think so all she could do was shutter out an "I don't know!" Flowey didn't like that. "WRONG ANSWER!" Flowey smashed a vine into the ground, just a few inches from the poor filly's head. "Where is Frisk?! Where are the humans?!?! WHAT THE HELL DID YOU DO TO EVERYTHING?!?!?!?!" He shrieked hysterically. "I don't understand!!!" Rainbow wailed. Flowey screamed with the power of a raging inferno. Two more vines shot out of the ground, but these weren't like the others. These vines were more like giant needles than actual plant-matter. Rainbow Dash's eyes seemed to become the size of dinner plates. It felt like her blood was turning into ice. Terror was consuming her being. Then she remembered her head-companion Chara?!! Rainbow called out desperately into the inner reaches of her Soul, but all she got was a squeak-like sound in response. Chara seemed to be in a Soul-deep daze and couldn't do more then watch numbly. Her last hope was gone. They were going to die. Flowey hovered over them with a crazed look in his eyes. "DIE!!!!" The needle-like vines shot at Rainbow with full intention of murdering her. Rainbow watched with silent, shell-shocked horror as they approached. Then it happened. There was a 'pop' and then a loud 'crack'. Shocked at this surprising turn of events, it took a moment for Dash to process what she was seeing. Standing in front of her was Sans. He had his boney hand held out, and floating in front of him was a giant dragon-like skull with Flowey's vines stabbed right through it. "S-S-SANS?????" Rainbow shuttered/yelled. "Hey, kid. It seems that you've gotten yourself it quite a 'vine'd, huh?" He chuckled humorlessly. Rainbow stared at Sans, not knowing what to think. Can you blame her though? One moment she was about to die at the hands of a murderous flower, and the next Sans pops out of freaking nowhere making a terrible PUN. So she did what any terrified and confused child would do in this kind of situation. Begin bawling their eyes out. Sans watched Rainbow cry for a moment before turning his attention back Flowey. Sans sighed and said, "Hey, weed. Long time no see, huh?" Flowey's face turned bright red with anger. "WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING HERE?!?!?!?!" Sans cocked his skull to the side and shrugged. "Bird watching," He answered simply. Flowey paused and stared at him with a rather puzzled look. After a few seconds he shook his head and returned to trying to glare a hole through Sans. "This doesn't involve you! Leave!" Flowey growled with an air of warning. "Wrong, it actually does involve me," Sans said nonchalantly. "You see, I made a promise to that lady your attempting to strangle. This kid is my responsibility to… protect, I guess." "But WHY!? Don't you realize how her presence is EFFECTING EVERYTHING!? She needs to DIE!!!" When Flowey announced that Rainbow Dash needed to die, Sans eye sockets went dark. He was quiet for a moment before he let out a sigh. "Yes, I am aware of what is going on… but I won't let you kill her. Despite the fact that she is an anomaly and can dance around the timeline at will… she is still just a young child, a child with the potential for great good… or mass destruction. At her age, how one treats her will affect the outcome of who she becomes." Sans perma-smile seemed to become strained. "If I can change the outcome of this game in any way, and prevent dust from spilling across the ground once again, then I would gladly protect even the devil's incarnate." … Flowey glared at Sans with a rather unamused expression. "Are you done?" Sans shrugged and said "Yup." White pellets then appeared around Flowey. He flashed a menacing grin. "Then let's begin." > The Butterflies That Flutter Away [Part 4/Final] (Unedited) > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- The white bullets shot at Sans. He dodged them easily and shrugged his shoulders. "Is that the best you've got?" He taunted and shot his hand out, summing two Gaster Blasters. The large weapons opened their jaws and shot beams of pure white energy. Once the light faded, Sans momentarily stared at the spot Flowey was a few seconds ago. It seemed that Flowey dodged by burrowing into the ground. Sans huffed in slight frustration and gazed around the cave, trying to spot the yellow flower. His skull soon snapped to the left when he heard the sound of dirt shifting several feet away. Green vines shot out of the ground. By the time he got done dodging the storm of vines, Flowey had once again disappeared back under the dirt. "So, we're playing peek-a-boo, huh?" Sans commented loudly as he summoned some bones, eyeing the dirt. "Don't you think that you're a bit too old for this game? Although, I really shouldn't be surprised. You're like, what, six?" "I AM NOT FUCKING SIX!!!" Flowey popped out of the ground a few feet away. "I AM NEARLY 100 YEARS OLD!!!!" 'There you are.' Sans shot the bones at Flowey. They hit their mark and knocked down a decent amount of HP. "Damnit!!!" Flowey snapped as he flinched away in pain. Flowey quickly recovered and glared at Sans. White pellets appeared around him as three more vines popped out. "YOU ARE GOING TO PAY FOR THAT!!!" Meanwhile, Rainbow Dash laid on the ground, watching the fight grow more intense with weak, blurry eyes. White, blue, and green danced around the room almost too fast for her half-conscious brain to keep up with. She desperately wanted this to stop, she wanted this fight to end. Rainbow didn't want anyone to get hurt, or worse, just because of her. Rainbow HAD to do something, she just couldn't sit here and let Sans and Flowey hurt each other! She had to stop them! Rainbow lifted her head weakly and forced her hooves beneath her small body, and with that she began slowly pushing herself to her hooves. It felt like both her pain and instincts were working together to try to get her to give up, to lay back down and go to sleep. Maybe… maybe I should just… sleep…… But as she was just about to fall back onto the ground and give in, a pained scream cut threw the fog in her mind. Rainbow's eyes shot back open. Flowey was leaning over and his petals looked terribly torn. But despite the pain he seemed to be in, he still glared up at Sans with burning hatred, which Sans seemed to return with equal force. One of Sans blasters was hovering over his head, pointing at Flowey. No… no no NO!!! She had to stop him!!!!! Rainbow can't give up, she won't give up, she REFUSED to give up! She had someone to protect! Rainbow Dash was filled with DETERMINATION! With speed Rainbow didn't even know she was capable of, she bolted in front of Flowey and stood on her hind hooves. Her front hooves were spread out wide, making it so she took up space. Things were still. And then she felt it. A burning, terrible pain in her chest, accompanied by the inability to breath. Rainbow looked down and slowly moved one of her hooves to her chest, grasping the vine sticking out from it. "...K-Kid…?" Rainbow looked weakly up at Sans. He had his hand raised slightly as he stared at her in shocked disbelief. She opened her mouth and started hacking. Blood ran down from her mouth and down her muzzle. It dripped onto her mangled chest. And then there was movement. The vine sticking out of her chest rapidly pulled out. Rainbow gasped in pain and fell forward onto the ground. "RAINBOW!" Rainbow Dash felt Sans familiar boney hands wrap around her and lift her up before setting her down on his lap. Green light fluttered against her eyelids. She cracked open her eyes and stared up at Sans quickly darkening figure. He was yelling something at her… what… what was he saying? She can't….. focus…….. There was a blinding white light, and then… nothing…… . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . So. . . . . . . . . . It seems you've gotten yourself killed. I honestly didn't expect you to die this soon. . . . . . . . . . . Who am I you ask?... You don't remember me? How ... interesting. How very, very interesting. . . . . Hmm? You really want to know? I can not tell you that, pony. But don't worry, you'll know soon enough. . . . . . Where are we you ask? It really doesn't matter at the moment. . . . . . . . . . It's about time you returned, little pony. Don't you think? *[Continue]       [Do Not] [Continue]           *[Do Not] . . . . . . No? . . . . . Well. . . . . . . It looks like you DO remember something after all. . . . . . . . It's kind of humerus. You actually think you have a choice? Y O U N E V E R E V E N  H A D A C H O I C E. This is NOT a game, child. There are REAL consequences for your actions. You are going back. And you're going to keep coming back. Whether you want to, or not. Rainbow Dash gasped and bolted upward. She looked around with a mix of confusion and intense terror. She was in her room. Rainbow slowly raised a shaky hoof and set it on her chest. She felt the spot where, not too long ago, she had one of Flowey's vines sticking out of her. It was completely healed. Her hoof dropped back onto the blanket as she stared ahead with an empty expression. She… died. She just died. Rainbow grabbed her head and tugged at her mane lightly, trying to choked back a bout of hysterical laughter. Flowey killed them. Rainbow soon collapsed back down onto her bed and curled up into a fetal position. Then darkness… Sans awoke with a gasp. He stared up at his bedroom ceiling with a hand on with chest. It felt like his SOUL with pulsing a mile a minute. Once he calmed down enough to think, he sat up with a sigh. 'Rainbow Dash saved me. Rainbow Dash jumped in front of that damn weed's attack... to save me.' He gazed down at his boney hands, remembering the filly's tiny, dying body within his arms. Her empty eyes gazing up at him with a look of no regret. He leaned back with his hands covering his face. 'Things just became a lot more complicated.'
