> Rainbow Dash's Story > by Mocha Star > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > Awesomeness on paper > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Alright, so theres this mare named, Rainbow Dash Dusk, and shes totally awesome. So awesome, that there’s like no pony or dragon that can stand up to her, and when she was a filly, she was exposed to dark magic that she turned into good magic, and it gave her the power to, like, make stuff explode, with her mind!, but that wasn't even the beginning of her awesome powers. Also. Her best frend is a real tank, and he can fly around with wings, made out of pure awesomess, that comes off Rainbow Dusk like the light of the sun, and fules his flying, and, since shes always awesome, they both never have to land, like ever! They meet this badguy, named something really cool, Add this later^Doppleganger!^Don't Forget Dash, and, Tank and, Rainbow beat him up, and the whole world bows in respect of her pure awesomness! Then she meets, Daring Do and they save the world. “So,” Rainbow hovered on her back, swimming through the air in the crystal palace’s library, “That's the appendix, means it covers the stuff in the book. Looked that word up. I wrote that book over the last few months and finished it on the way here on the train. Can we get it published into a book or just make it standard reading for schools because of its epicness?” Twilight looked between her other four friends and gauged their reactions, none of them hopeful. “Uhm, Rainbow. I think you have a really unique story here and I've only read the first page of it. But I have to ask, why?” Rainbow landed beside Twilight and sighed loudly. “Look, I’m already famous, fast, popular, and a that’s not even including the fact that I’m a Wonderbolt. I heard that writing a faction book is the next thing to do and this’ like my autobiography or something, so it’s books, then movies, then they build statues of me,” she giggled and flew around the room. “Sugarcube, what’d we talk about bein’ humble and the like?” “Yeah! Like a pie, only Dashie doesn’t eat pie so a humble cake! It’s not as good as humble pie, but it’s fluffier! And can be covered with chocolate ganache,” Pinkie began salivating. “Um, I kind of like the main character’s name.” Rarity was silent, biting her bottom lip nervously. “Rarity, what’s yer thought on Rainbow’s... story?” “Well, it’s not to be said that I’m a true connoisseur of fiction in the aspect of actually critiquing my friends’ works of personal art and style of, well, you see,” she grimaced when she noticed all the others looking at her. “Subtle, Rares. Look, Rainbow, Ah’m not gonna sugar coat it, that there stories’ plain awful in every way, even fer fiction. Maybe you can fix it up with help.” Pinkie hopped in place. “Oh, oh! I can help, I’m really good at writing. I’m in thousands of fics without spelling errors or anything.” “Pinkie, darling, you write fiction?” “Psh, no. I said ‘in’, not ‘I write’.” “...O-kay, anyway, Rainbow Dash, if you want I’ll help you with your, it's fiction, not an autobiography, by the way,” Twilight offered, “but I won’t do it for you because you’ll only get better by doing it yourself.” “Ugh, fine," Rainbow rolled her eyes, "what do I need to work on to make my fiction better in your opinion, everypony?” Twilight conjured a red ink pot and quill with a stack of paper. “Let’s start from the beginning.” “Y’all have fun, Ah’m gonna check out the crystal… somethin’,” Applejack started as she and the other four got up and left. "I'm gonna meet Luna at the bakery!" "I believe a spa visit is in order." "Um... sheep?" Fluttershy said in a cliche for her manner. Later that evening, the adventure continues for our comedic duo! Twilight grinned at the finished draft she was proud of, even though Rainbow’s snoring was distracting her near the end. She set it down by Rainbow and left to visit her extended family for a late lunch, which was actually supper, because these stories always have Twilight missing time and meals when she focuses on anything. Rainbow woke up and stretched, taking a look around and frowning at being alone until she saw the story Twilight had made of her own. She blinked at the hundred page document and picked it up. “What the hay?” She opened it and began to read, yawning before she was done with the first page. “This book is boring as anything else that egghead’s done. I’ll make it just a bit more awesome,” she said taking a pencil from a nearby bin and gathering some of the loose papers from around the table the group had been at. She finally dropped the pencil from her teeth, half the size it was and worn down to a nub yet again as she blearily looked at her final document. She set it down and curled up on the chair Twilight was on hours earlier quickly falling asleep. … Twilight returned and saw Rainbow sleeping as the morning sun was cresting the distant mountains. “Does she ever wake up?” She asked rhetorically and took the blue mare and papers in her magic teleporting to the groups ensuite. Twilight tucked Rainbow into bed and climbed into her own, snuggling under her covers and falling asleep herself, dreaming nonsensical dreams of her family, Rainbow Dusk, her niece… She woke up with the sun in her eyes and Rarity looming over her. “Darling? I was about to wake you to discuss your story modifications.” “Bluh?” Twilight managed as her brain started. “Oh, okay. I’m proud of it, I just hope Rainbow Dash is, too.” Rarity smirked. “Yes, the mare is quite excited about it and has had several copies made and distributed already. With your endorsement publishing houses across the nation have taken it up and are working on mass publishing, um, your work.” Twilight sat up and narrowed her eyes. “Why’re you talking like that? What’s wrong with the story?” “Well,” Rarity began and held the original manuscript to her chest, “it’s… your vision of Rainbow’s story is certainly unique but not one I’d have suggested you put your name to as co-writer.” Twilight gripped the papers in her magic and tugged them free and to her lap, placing her hooves to her mouth as her eyes glanced at the second page. Picked Up the Whole Mowntian, and threw it at the evil, Doppleganger! and then as the power charged, within Doppleganger’s spaced hands, because he was shaped like a giant gorilla, so he could climb moutnains better, and the magic crackled with the energy of a million thaum gem battery about to explode. As the power of a city’s entire energy grid was unleashed, in a blast that rivaled the stars in the sky, with its lunalesient brilliance, Rainbow Dusk teleported over the monster, that was like, ten times the size of Tirek, at his biggest size! and smashed the mountain, that was actually the whole moon, over it’s big dum head, and the doppleganger got stuck in the moon, but on the surface and not like a bunch of dots that was like, Nightmare Moon was, and cried for help but, Tank, the Tank, shot the moon back into the sky, and then whenever anypony looked at the moon, they saw the big thing crying and begging Rainbow Dusk for forgiveness to be returned to earth, to be her friend and sidekick. THen oneday, he got rediemed, because a friendship Rainbow, or something like that, and he was a normal size black pony with red tipped horn and black cloak and called him self, Sombra Sumberuh, but still had powers that were kinda cool and not evil at all because the friendship rainbow made him all cool now, but his powers paled in comparison to Rainbow Dash’s Dusk’s pure and totally amazing awesomeness. She opened a majic comicbook and it has Daring Do in it, and she’s trying to find this old relic, and stops Owizotal, by kicking his hand-tail-thing and Rainbow Dusk starts by Twilight was speechless at the changes Rainbow had made and how awful they were as she continued to turn the pages. Rainbow had even crossed out entire pages and placed her modifications in between Twilight’s pages in the manuscript. She stammered into her hooves for almost a minute while Rarity gently rubbed her back. “Rarity?” Twilight let the word drag out. “I’m sorry dear, but it’s already out there. Copies have certainly been made and distributed to friends and colleagues in secret. Perhaps a royal decree can solve this?” Twilight began to pant, quickening to near hyperventilation as Rarity brought the alicorn into a hug, reassuring her. “R-r-rarity… Who cast the copy spell and sent out the books?” Rarity whispered the answer and Twilight froze. “Princess Luna.” Twilight vanished in a flash of light, reappearing in the throne room. “Where’s Luna?!” Her voice echoed and Flurry Heart whimpered. “Oh! I’m sorry, peanut! I didn’t mean to scare you. Cadence,” Twilight asked with a strained smile as she took her niece into her magic and onto her back, “is Luna here? I have to ask her something that’s important to me.” “No, Twilight. She left soon after she showed up last night. Why? Is everything alright?” Twilight looked back to Flurry and focused her attention on the foal. “Aww, who’s a good niece? Wanna play a game and take Auntie Twilight’s mind off her current troubles?” The filly giggled but was quickly taken by her mother. “Twilight, you know you can talk to me about anything, right?” With a sigh, Twilight began to tell her of the story. “...and it’s just a rough draft! I can’t believe she’d do this to me,” she squeaked. “She has been known to pull a prank or two,” Cadence said charmingly calm. “I wouldn’t worry, Twilight. No publishing company would post a rough draft with their name on it, even if it has your name on it.” Twilight relaxed and smiled. “Thanks, Cadence. You’re right, their reputation would be on the line if they published something bad, and that story is plain awful,” they shared a giggle as they both began to play with Flurry Heart, holding day court up by hours and causing undue stress to ponies with real problems and concerns. Two months later... More stuff happens to our adventuring heroines! Twilight sulked in her throne with her other six friends, former student who was evil but turned good and was forgiven for actually destroying the world as they knew it several times because of the dumbest reason ever, but it's okay now because they sang a song, and copy of Rainbow Dash’s book on the table before each of them. Pinkie flipped through the pages, reading intently. “I love this book, it’s like Rainbow Dash’s life, but on paper! The illustrations are great, too. This’ the best foal’s book I’ve ever read!” Rainbow smiled awkwardly and rubbed the back of her mane. “Yeah, I didn’t really think Twilight’d get upset, though. Look, Twi, if I had any idea of how much time you’d put into it I wouldn’t have made as many changes.” “Darling, I’m quite certain that Princess Luna only meant it as a simple joke. She’s probably upset over this being published as well.” “Yeah, Ah think this here… book, won’t even sell a dozen copies.” Starlight snorted. “It’s already outsold the friendship journal you released, Twilight. What, somepony had to tell her!” Spike rolled his eyes with a sneer and patted Twilight’s back. “Look, Twi, it’ll be okay. Just because they published it under Rainbow Dash’s name with you as co-author doesn’t mean anypony will take this as your book.” Twilight lifted her head and sniffled, hoofing a paper to him. “They’re asking for a sequel, Spike. They think our writing is worthy of school fillies and colts! I’ll never be taken seriously as a scientist again,” she pouted to him. Fluttershy finally chimed in as she tends to do in stories like these. Imagine her meek like the early seasons again, or this won't seem as legit. “Twilight. I may not be the, um, most qualified to offer advice on writing stories for young ponies, but I have seen the original,” the others at the table nodded in agreement with encouraging noises, “and the company that published this did a fantastic job turning it into a story worth reading-” “Hey!” Rainbow Dash frowned and was about to speak when Rarity closed her loud mouth with magic. “And as your friends, Twilight, we know you will always be respected, no matter what you do or what stories some silly publishing house prints.” Pinkie gasped. “Did you know Princess Luna Publishing Company was founded two months ago?! It says so right here,” she opened the first page and pointed a hoof tip to the publisher information. “Wow, what’re the odds?” Twilight frowned. “Pretty good, it seems. But, you girls are right. After all, this’ the worst that could have happened, right?” The others chuckled nervously as Starlight was kicked and began to laugh herself, glancing under the table at the small stack of full volume tomes containing the original story. “Yeah, it’s not like they made the whole story into a book for adults that we’re hiding from you to spare you your feelings,” Starlight blurted. Silence fell through the throne room until Twilight burst into laughter. “Yeah, that’d be really embarrassing!”
