Kaine has been The Spider-Mane for over twenty years. Realizing his time is up, he gives somepony else the mantle.

Kaine, The Spider-Mane of Equestria, has finally hit his twenty year mark. Realizing that he can't keep up with the 21st century, Kaine goes out to give somepony else, the mantle of The Spider, but this pony will have to learn the hard way of being a hero, in order to be the greatest hero.

Twenty Years on the Job

'Twenty years on the job and I still haven't given up? Mary was right, I am crazy.' Kaine could feel the blood drip down on his mask. Something went off in his cranium, something that told him that he was in danger. 'Alright, come on Kaine, you got this, get up, get up before Sombra gets here!' Kaine tried to get up on his four legs, but the pain in his body was unbearable.

"It's a pity. Twenty years of being Equestria's hero and now look at you. You can't even get up!" Sombra taunted Kaine. A dark aura surrounded Kaine's body, bringing him to Sombra. "It's a shame to see you like this. You really were a worthy opponent, but now, now you're nothing to me." Kaine laughed.

"What are you going to do? Give me a trophy???"

"You could call it that." Kaine didn't know what Sombra had meant by that. It was too late though. Sombra dug something into Kaine's stomach. Kaine looked down to see his own sword, inside of him. Sombra used his magic to twist the blade, causing Kaine to scream in agony.

"Any last words, Spider-Mane?!" Kaine looked past Sombra, to see his Spider-Buggy's main weapon pointed at them. Kaine smiled underneath his mask.

"Yeah I got one. Boom." The rocket on the buggy shot out of the car. Kaine nor Sombra had enough time to get out of the way.

Kaine's vision was blurry. He grasped his mask and lifted it off his face. Now he could see. His costume was torn to shreds, only the mask seemed to stay intact. He began to make his way to the buggy. However, that same tingle from before, had returned. Kaine turned around, but just as he did, Sombra was galloping towards him.

Kaine didn't have enough time to react as Sombra struck him down with his magic. Sombra looked down to see, a piece of his sword sticking out of Kaine's stomach. His magic engulfed the shard and pulled it out. Kaine tried his best to not scream, but it was futile. Sombra smiled. He used the shard to slice Kaine's chest. "How does it feel?!"

"That's enough!" Sombra looked up to see Celestia and Luna, their horns glowing with energy.

"I think it's time for you to be gone, you beast!" Luna yelled. Sombra didn't even get to react, Kaine had kicked him so fast that even he didn't see it coming! Luna and Celestia fired their magic at Sombra, the king screamed in pain. His body started to fade into a shadow. Celestia and Luna forced the shadow into the ground.

"Heh, thanks, didn't know...how long...I could've...gone." Kaine collapsed, leaving Celestia and Luna, to fear for the worst.

Somepony New

It had been several years since that battle with Sombra. The Spider-Mane was nowhere to be found. 'Maybe it's for the better, but still, I feel like a great evil will be upon us soon. Better to be safe than sorry.' Kaine recalled last night's talk with his sister, Mary Apple.

"It's for the best Kaine. Your getting slower. Maybe it's best if you gave these powers to somepony else."

'She's right, somepony new has to be Equestria's next Spider-Mane, but who?' Kaine had been watching ponies, seeing if they had what it takes to be a hero, but so far, no pony had it. Kaine was watching his nephew, buck an apple tree. 'Maybe Peter deserves them. After all, he has that never stay down attitude.' Kaine watched Peter carefully. 'He certainly has what it takes to be a hero, but Mary wouldn't allow it.'

Kaine remembered when Mary told him about the time Peter had a black eye. When asked about said black eye, Peter responded with: "I was standing up for somepony and I took a punch to the eye." Kaine smiled when he heard that.

Peter was only seven years old, but he had a heart of a knight. Kaine thought he could blame Peter's friend, William Afton, for that, but he knew deep down, that's just how Peter was. 'Yeah, he's the perfect fit. Hopefully, Mary will agree.'

"Are you crazy?!!!" Kaine knew this was going to happen. "You want my son, who is only seven mind you, to have your powers?!!!!"

"Pretty much, yeah." Kaine had wished his sixth sense had worked on his friends too, but it didn't. And he ended up getting slapped across his face. "Look I know what you're thinking, your big brother has finally lost his marbles, but listen to me." Mary finally calmed down, she took a seat on her couch, Kaine doing the same.

"Why Petey?"

"Peter has a lot of guts Mary. He's just like Spider-Mane! He cares about others when he should care about himself. He just needs to be pointed to the right direction for a while and when his powers unearth. Mary please, Equestria needs Spider-Mane, and Peter's the only one fit for it." Mary looked down at Kaine.

"Fine, but you're responsible if he dies. Do you understand Kaine?!"

"Yes ma'am. You won't regret this!" Kaine galloped out of the castle, straight for Sweet Apple Acres.

"I feel like I already have."

Powers

Peter, Twilight, and William were all at the smoothie shop. "Did you see all those spiders they had back there?! That was awes---ow, brain freeze." Twilight and William laughed at Peter's little dilemma.

"Yeah, you don't chug these type of drinks Apple." Peter took quick note of that once his brain stopped aching. Unknown to the three fillies, a spider was making it's way towards Peter!

'Don't move, don't move, don't move!' Peter finished his smoothie, just as Kaine crawled onto his neck.

"Anyways, thanks for inviting us over for smoothies William." Twilight said.

"No, thank you guys for showi---"

"OW!!!!" Peter's sudden outcry startled William and Twilight.

"Are you alright Peter?" Twilight began to search for anything wrong with Peter. "Uhh...P-Peter...I don't want to startle you, but...I think a spider bit you." Peter looked at Twilight, worry was written all over his face. That didn't last long as Peter passed out.

"Peter, Peter, Peter wake up!!!" Peter knew that voice from anywhere.

"Twily, i-is that you?"

"Yes it is, a-are you okay???" Peter didn't respond immediately, noticing that his vision was one hundred times better than before.

"What happened? Where's Willie???"

"Talking with your mom. Your contacts fell out as soon as you lost consciousness. I don't know why though, they just...fell out." Peter knew that wasn't right. His contacts seemed to be stuck in his eyes, at least, that's what his dad had told him.

"Thank you two for telling me this as soon as possible. I will see to it that Peter will be taken care of." Twilight and William nodded. As William left the palace, Twilight stayed behind to look at Peter one last time.

"Will he be okay?" Twilight asked worryingly.

"Knowing my Peter, he'll be okay by tomorrow." Twilight's spirits were lifted by those words. She galloped out of the palace, feeling safe to leave her friend, with his mother of course.

"Peter...I can explain the spider bite. Your uncle...Peter...where did you go?"

"Look up." Mary did what Peter said, seeing her son perched on the ceiling. "This is so cool. That spider must have given me some...uh...spider powers! Yeah, that sounds right." Mary's heart nearly skipped a beat. Her Peter, was taking this very...calmly. If it were her who got these powers, she would've had a heart attack.

'Now we must wait and see the path that Peter will take.'

Hero in Ponyville

Four years and three months had passed. So much has happened. Uncle Ben was killed on my birthday, I moved to Ponyville to stay with Granny Smith and the others, Aunt May even decided to come with me. Peter looked around the farm. Nothing seemed to change.

"Peter!!!" He knew who that was, Applejack. His sister, who was only two years older than him.

"What is it???"

"Care to explain this?!" Applejack tossed him a newspaper. The title read: SPIDER-MANE SAVES LITTLE FILLY. Peter looked down at the picture that was taken. It was him, in a red and blue outfit, a rather tacky one to say the least. He was pulling a filly out of a burning cottage.

"Peter...listen your only eleven, you have these gifts, but y'all need to tell us when ya go out being...a hero. We worry every day and night. Ya don't like to tell us anything since Uncle Ben died, but--"

"I'm sorry for making y'all worry." Applejack looked at her brother, trying to find out if he was serious or not. "I know you and the others worry, but I have to do this. I can't tell you when I'm about to go out there...what if something happens because of me talking to you guys...I can't waste any time. I'm sorry." Applejack walked over to her brother, and placed her hoof on his head.

"Well alright." Peter hugged Applejack. A sudden tingle went off in Peter.

"I have to go." Peter galloped up towards his bedroom. He pulled out his family made costume, beginning to put on the costume. Peter finally galloped out of the house, jumping high into the air.
