> Different Reasons to Party > by Leviathan Jaeger > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > Adagio and Sunset > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sunset drove in to the school parking lot, quickly searching for a parking spot. Once she found one, she pulled her car in and shut it off. Once free from gripping the steering wheel, she leaned back in her seat and looked towards the school building. A frown formed on her face as she looked from the school to herself in the rear view mirror. Ever since the Fall Formal incident, Sunset tried her best to avoid formal events at the school. Nothing but painful memories emerged when she saw everyone dressed up in suits and dresses, but she wanted tonight to be an exception. It was the biggest dance of the year, replacing the Fall Formal after her she-demon chaos ruined it. Sunset looked away from the mirror to back at the school, and a confident smile appeared on her face. She wasn't going to let past mistakes ruin her night, especially this night. Sunset finally opened the door to her vehicle, and slowly climbed out, trying her best not to mess up her fancy red dress that Rarity made for her. After taking a deep breath, Sunset walked towards the entrance to the school. She was greeted by one of her classmates taking names in a book. Once she was checked off, she gave him a smile before walking in. She passed a few people in the hallway, before making her way into the gym, the main room for the dance. When she walked in, she took in the sites. The whole room was decorated with flashy lights, balloons, and situated to have a dancefloor in the middle. Not to mention the band on the stage, already playing music. Sunset looked around for her friends, and once she spotted them, she made her way over. Over at the Dazzlings house, Adagio was standing close to the door, waiting to leave. She impatiently looked towards the clock on the wall, and gave a loud sigh when she noticed what time it was getting. "Aria! Sonata! Hurry up, we're going to be late!" she yelled through the house. Aria emerged from around the corner, sporting her usual don't care face. "Why are we even going to this stupid dance?" "*sigh*Because Aria, Sunset asked the school to invite us, and we're not about to turn her invitation down." Aria crossed her arms and looked away. "Whatever..." "I'm coming!" Sonata shouted, quickly dashing down the stairs as quickly as she could in a dress. She stopped and panted when she joined the other two. "I'm ready." Adagio and Aria both rolled their eyes as they walked out of the house, with their little blue friend following closely behind. They all climbed into their shared car, and sped off towards the school. Since they were going faster then they were supposed to, it didn't take long for them to make it to the school. Once parked and out of their vehicle, the three girls slowly walked towards the school, Adagio in the front, while the other two walked behind. Since their failed attempt at getting magic, the sirens had only been back to the school twice, both because of Sunset. The first reason was to convince the school body that they weren't evil anymore, some gave them a second chance, some didn't. The second reason was to meet the Shadowbolts, who to the Dazzlings, just felt like meeting a second version of the Rainbooms. When they made it to the door, the guy taking names gave them one look, and started shaking in his place. "T-The D-Dazzlings?" "Yes, you can mark us off," Adagio replied. "A-Alright M-Miss D-Dazzle, enjoy the p-party," he said, ushering with his hand inside. The three sirens walked past him and into the building. As they walked down the halls, the few people in them turned to look towards them, some giving looks of confusion, while others weren't to pleased to see them. None of them paid any attention to them, only focusing on making it to the main room. Once inside, Adagio looked around to find Sunset, since she was really the only reason she was there. Once she spotted the familiar fiery hair, she walked over to her, with the other two sirens in tow. "Hello Sunset," Adagio said, standing behind the girl as she stood among her friends. Sunset gave a small jump at the sound of her voice, quickly turning to face her, placing a hand on her chest. "Adagio, you startled me." Adagio gave a short laugh before speaking again. "You should be used to it by now Sunshine." She walked up beside of her and joined the group, saying hello to the other girls. Now that Adagio was there, Sunset could finally start to actually enjoy the party, since Adagio was really the only reason for her want to be there. Sure she wanted to see her friends, but Sunset wanted to spend her night with the girl she was currently in love with. Yes, Sunset had a crush on Adagio, a rather large one at that. Despite having plenty of opportunities to tell her, Sunset never knew how to go about doing the deed. After a few minutes of talking, the group started to disperse, some moving to the dance floor, while others moved to other attractions around the place. This just left Sunset with the three sirens, and the situation gave Sunset a idea. "Hey Adagio," she said, making Adagio turn to her. "...Wanna dance?" Adagio let her infamous smirk appear on her face before replying. "I'd love too." She took hold of Sunset's hand, leading her out to the dance floor. The music was slowed down, giving the dancers a peaceful tune to dance to. Adagio held her hand up with Sunset's, and wrapped her arm around the girl, pulling her forward. Sunset's face expressed no amount of embarrassment, but on the inside, she was blushing like crazy. They both moved to the sound of the music, and Sunset was surprised at how well Adagio could dance. "I see Octavia's cello playing is as good as ever," Adagio stated, looking at the girl on the stage, then back to Sunset. "She's definitely very talented," Sunset replied. "I didn't know you could dance this well." Adagio gave small laugh before pulling Sunset closer. "I'm full of surprises," she whispered in a sultry tone right in her ear, sending goosebumps down Sunset's back. "You look beautiful tonight," she whispered again. "Thank you," Sunset responded, starting to blush a little. "I really mean it. You just might be the most beautiful girl in the room, minus yours truly," she continued to whisper right in Sunset's ear. "Your long flowing hair, your cute face, and your dress that compliments your body nicely." Now Sunset was noticeably blushing, her cheeks burning bright red. When Adagio pulled away from her, Sunset hoped she wouldn't notice, but she would have to be blind not too. Adagio noticed her blush, making her smile at how cute she was being. When Sunset turned her head to look away, presumably to hide her blush, Adagio brought a hand up and turn her back to look at her. Before Adagio could advance forward, the music stopped, and everyone was turning back to the musicians and clapping for them. The two girls joined in, since Sunset wanted to get rid of her blush, and because Adagio actually enjoyed the cello music. When the clapping died down, the two girls moved towards the edge of the crowd, trying to get away from the large mass. Once in a spot of considerable space, Sunset looked around to see where everyone else was. She didn't really find any of her group, or Sonata and Aria, but she did see the Shadowbolts, at least part of their group standing off to the side. Now that they were alone, well more alone then where they used to be, Sunset decided it was now or never. She took a deep, but quiet breath, then turned to the siren. "Adagio." "Hm," she replied. "I need to tell you something...something I've should've said awhile ago." Adagio fully turned to her, looking her deep in the eyes. "What is it Sunny?" Sunset went to speak, but nothing came out. 'Damn it, this shouldn't be hard!' she thought in her head. 'Why did she have to call me that, it didn't help!' "I...I...I'll be right back," she said, before speeding off towards the bathroom. Adagio watched her quickly walk away, shaking her head and giving a smile, before following after her. Once Sunset was in the bathroom, she slammed her hands on the sink top, thankful that no one else was in there. 'Come one Sunset! Why couldn't you just tell her! Your a straight A student, you was Celestia's pupil, and you've stopped evil more than once, so why can't you just tell her how you feel!' she screamed in her head. "I doubt coming in here was what you really wanted to tell me," Adagio said as she leaned against the wall behind her, making Sunset quickly turn around. "Although, I have a good guess at what you tried to tell me." "Adagio, I-" Sunset started to speak, but was stopped by Adagio placing a finger on her mouth. "Shhhh, I already know, and I have something to tell you as well," she said, moving closer to her. "I love you too." Sunset stood there, her heart beating twice as fast. She couldn't believe what she just heard, but before her brain had the chance to process it, Adagio leaned forward and kissed her. Sunset's eyes went wide as she felt Adagio's soft lips press against her own. She slowly closed her eyes, bringing her arms up and pulling Adagio closer. They both stood there, kissing each other for several seconds, before Adagio pulled away just as gracefully as she advanced. "Adagio...I...I love you so much," Sunset stated to her, before pulling her in for another kiss. Adagio smiled into the kiss, before licking her lips for entrance. Sunset opened her mouth, letting Adagio's tongue into her domain. Sunset gave a small moan as their tongues rubbed together. After a couple minutes of making out, the two of them pulled away, a spit trail being left behind. Adagio gave a small cute laugh, "Your just as good at kissing as I thought you'd be." Now it was Sunset's turn to giggle, "So are you." The two of them moved in for a hug, each of them holding each other tightly. When they parted, they kissed one more time, before walking out and rejoining the action outside. > Aria and Sonata > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- When the three sirens entered the building, Aria looked around, only to be immediately bored of the place. There was no one there for her to talk to, save Vinyl but she was currently busy doing her job, and she knew there wasn't really a point to her being there. Sonata on the other hand, was thrilled to be there. She loved the flashing lights, the different dresses people were wearing, and the food, oh the food. She was about to walk over and start to dig in, but the other two sirens were walking in the other direction. She gave the food one last look, before turning to join the others. When the three of them joined the other group of girls, Sonata sent Pinkie a wave, which the pink girl happily returned. After a few minutes of talking, the group dispersed, leaving the three sirens and Sunset. As Sonata thought about what to do, Sunset and Adagio walked towards the dance floor. She saw that they were going to dance, and she wanted to as well, but then she turned to Aria, and immediately decided to not ask, despite how much she wanted to dance with her. She then noticed Pinkie over by the food table, and decided to join her. "I'm going to go join Pinkie," she said to her siren friend. "Whatever," was Aria's only response. Sonata took the response and left with it, quickly walking over to her pink friend. "Don't eat all the food without me!" Pinkie looked up from her plate and smiled. "Don't worry my blue buddy, there's plenty here for everyone!" "Yay!" Sonata responded, taking her own plate and piling it with food. After she finished making her own food mountain, she looked back over at Aria, and saw that her mood wasn't changing. "I wish Aria would have fun." Pinkie looked over her shoulder, and shrugged. "I guess she just doesn't see the life of the party." Sonata turned back to her, giving her a quizzical face. "What is the life of the party?" "You don't know you silly billy, the life of the party is whatever you get joy from! Whether it's food, dancing, people, balloons, food," she stopped and elbowed her friend, "or being around your crush." Sonata gave a small blush as she cutely turned her face, smiling as she did it. "Why don't you tell her already, I'm sure it would make her night!" Sonata looked over at the purple siren, then back to Pinkie. "I-I don't know Pinkie...she isn't exactly...emotional." "Don't be silly silly, sometimes it takes other peoples emotions to turn on their emotions." Pinkie stated, before turning and looking towards Fluttershy. "Well, it looks like someone else needs my help. Don't forget what I said, use the Pinkie logic," she said as she walked away backwards. Sonata gave a short giggle, before looking back towards Aria, only to see that she had moved. Sonata looked around desperately for her, only to see her exiting the building through one of the side door. With all the haste in her body, Sonata made her way towards her, trying desperately to not drop her food. When Sonata went to go talk to Pinkie, Aria just stood there alone. She crossed her arms and looked towards the crowd of people, dancing and smiling to the music. She gave a sigh as she looked over to her left as a reflex, expecting to say something to Sonata, but stopped herself when knew remembered no one was there. She gave another sigh as she looked back towards the people, as she realized just how often she talks to Sonata. She couldn't believe she has a reflex just for that, but deep down inside, she knew that she loved Sonata's company. The ditzy blue siren had a special place in Aria's heart, a place that was kept secret from the world. But now she realized that without her, she had no one to talk too. That's when she noticed the open door to the outside world across the gym. If she wasn't going to be talking to anyone, might as well be where no one was, and with that, she walked over to the door. Once outside, she let the cool evening breeze flow in her hair. Most people had a distaste for the cold breezes of the fall season, but not Aria, she embraced the cold, like someone who was being greeted by an old friend. She noticed a group of tables over to her right, the ones that were round and had a umbrella in the middle. She just shrugged and walked over to one. She stopped midway there as she felt the presence of someone walking behind them. She turned preparing to send someone off, but stopped herself when she saw it was only Sonata. "I brought some food," she said, holding up her plate. Aria just slowly shook her head and gave a small smile. "Do you ever think about anything else." "Sometimes, yes," Sonata joked with her, before claiming her seat next to Aria. "It's a nice evening." Aria looked towards the evening sky. "Yeah, it is." She looked back over to Sonata and grabbed a donut. "I figured you would've stayed with Pinkie the whole time." "I can't leave my best friend all alone, you'll get lonely," Sonata replied, taking a bite out of her own donut. "I'm used to being alone, although, I...do like having you around," Aria told her, the last few words slightly drifting off. Sonata turned to her rather amazed. "You actually do? I thought you thought I was annoying?" "You can be sometimes, but so can Adagio, and...I know I can be too." "Your not annoying, your just...your just..." Sonata said, waving her arms in circles as she tried to think of something. "Cantankerous." "Yeah! That word," Sonata replied, before immediately regretting it. "I mean, your still a nice person..." Aria rolled her eyes and slumped forward. "You know I'm not. All I ever do is be a bitch to people...you'd have more fun if you stayed with Pinkie..." Sonata put her food down and scooted right next to Aria, putting a arm around her. "Aria, there's no one I would rather be around than you." Aria sat up and looked at her, both confused and warmed in the heart. "Why?" Sonata took a breath before giving her answer. "Because...because I love you Aria." Aria was now really confused, just now with a fast beating heart. "You...you what?" "I got a crush on you awhile back, and I never got over it, and as time went on, I grew to really like you Aria, as more than just my best friend." It took several minutes of silence before Aria knew how to respond. "Sonata..." "Yes?" Aria didn't use words to respond, but rather her lips. When they came together, Sonata blushed wildly, but it didn't take long for her to kiss back, placing her arms around Aria's neck. The two kissed for awhile, before Aria pulled away, also madly blushing. "I hope that was a good response," she said to her new blue girlfriend. Sonata gave a goofy but cute smile as she responded. "Yes, yes it was." She pulled her in for another kiss, and when they parted, she nuzzled her head on Aria's shoulder, letting the purple siren put a arm around her as they gazed up into the night sky. > Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Rainbow Dash approached the school, not exactly thrilled to be there. Sure she loved parties and hanging out with her friends, but she wasn't fond of this type of party. It was more up Rarity's alley than hers. Despite having to wear a dress, she wanted to make tonight fun. When she approached the door, she was greeted with a smile by the name guy. "Hey Rainbow," he said. "Yo," she replied, giving him a fist bump. Once her name was checked off, she entered the building. She waved to some people as she passed by them, also giving some out of some fist bumps. She eventually made it into the main room, taking a good long look at how the room was set up. She liked it better when it was set up for basketball season, but not much she could do about that. She continued to look around until she noticed Rarity and Applejack standing by the drink table. She casually walked over to them, giving Applejack a friendly slap on the back. Fluttershy approached the school, more nervous than anything. She had a distaste for social events like this, despite loving Pinkie's parties. Although at them, it was just her friends, but here, she was surrounded by everyone, and it did nothing but make her feel uncomfortable. As she approached the door, the name guy gave her a smile, which she returned, before marking her name off and letting her inside. She quietly walked down the hall, trying to avoid the few people in them. Once she made it to the main room, she just wanted to leave. The overwhelming amount of people there made her feel extremely uncomfortable. She probably would've left to, if it wasn't for her hearing her name being shouted out. "Hey Fluttershy! Over here!" Rainbow shouted her way. Once she laid eyes on Rainbow, Fluttershy started to feel better. She quickly made her way over to her, standing next to her rainbow friend, listening to there conversation. No matter where she was at, or what she was doing, Fluttershy never felt safer then when she's with Rainbow Dash. The two of them had been best friends for as long as they could remember, and she loved every moment of it. Although, she secretly wished they could be more than just best friends. As she thought about this, she didn't even notice Sunset and the Dazzlings joining their group, despite joining at two separate times. When the group dispersed, Fluttershy didn't know where to go. She wanted to stay with Dash, but the athletic girl had walked over to talk to some of her sports buddies. Fluttershy just decided to stand off to the side, away from all the people. She listened to the music being played, and looked over at Rainbow happily chatting with Soarin, one of the lead football players at CHS. She desperately wanted to dance Rainbow, to be intertwined with her as they moved across the dance floor, but her shyness wouldn't let her take a single step. She once again felt like leaving, but was stopped when Pinkie walked up to join her. "Hey Fluttershy! Enjoying the party?" Pinkie asked her. "Not really, it's not as good as your parties," Fluttershy responded to her, looking back towards Dash. "I will happily except that compliment," Pinkie said to her. She looked towards where Flutters was looking, and got a idea. "Why don't you go ask her to dance?" Fluttershy stiffened up at the sound of someone else suggesting it. "I...I don't know Pinkie...she probably doesn't want to dance with me..." "Oh come on Flutters, I'm sure she would love to dance with you! Just walk over there and ask to dance, and I guarantee she will say yes." Fluttershy looked over at Pinkie. "Are you sure?" "I'm positive!" Fluttershy looked back at Rainbow, before taking a long, deep breath. She took three steps forward, before stopping. She spun back around to Pinkie. "I...I can't do this!" she said before running off and down one of the halls. Pinkie watched as she ran away, trying to quickly decide on what the best course of action would be to cheer her friend up. She quickly turned back to look at Rainbow, and she knew what had to be done. She bounced over to Rainbow, who was still talking to Soarin. "And that's when I grabbed the ball and-oh hey Pinkie Pie," Soarin said as she bounced up. "Hey! Sorry to intrude, but I need Dashie for a minute," she replied, taking Rainbow by the arm and pulling her away. "What gives Pinkie?" Rainbow asked confused. "There's someone you need to talk to, like really badly," Pinkie replied as she let go of Rainbow's arm. "Who?" "Fluttershy." "Fluttershy?" "Yes Fluttershy, and before you ask why, it's because she really wants to dance with you but she's to shy to ask. And before you ask why she wants to dance with you, it's because she's been crushing on you for like months, and I know you feel the same way, and before you ask how I know, I just know. Now go talk to her, go, go, shoo, save the ship!" she said, pushing Rainbow in the right direction. Once Rainbow was in the school hall, she walked in the direction Pinkie pushed her towards. It wasn't hard to find Fluttershy, since no one else was in the hall and she was making the only noise. Rainbow slowly walked up behind, trying to think of something to say. "I know you like having your own personal space, but isn't this taking it a little to far," Rainbow joked with her. Fluttershy spun around to face her. "What are you doing here? I thought you was talking to Soarin?" "Pinkie pulled me out of that. She also might of mentioned that you wanted to dance with me." Fluttershy slightly blushed at the topic being brought up from her. "Well...yes...I didn't think you would want to though..." Rainbow stepped forward and put a hand on her shoulder. "I would gladly dance with you." Fluttershy looked up at her, hope burning in her eyes. "Really?" Rainbow then pulled her into a hug, surprising the girl. "Of course I would Fluttershy, your my best friend, I would do anything with you. Although...I've actually started thinking about you as more than that..." Fluttershy pulled away from the hug, looking deep into Rainbow's eyes. "You...really mean that?" Dash smiled before pulling her in for a gentle kiss, earning a squeak from Fluttershy. When they parted, Rainbow smiled again. "Yes, I mean it more than anything." Fluttershy couldn't help but smile back, giving her warmest smile. "So Fluttershy," she said, extending her hand, "would you like to dance with me?" "Absolutely Dashie," Fluttershy replied, taking Rainbow's hand and walking with her back to the dance floor. > Applejack and Rarity > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Applejack stood on the round circle, letting Rarity inspect her work. Applejack just rolled her eyes when she looked over at the clock, realizing she had been standing there for twenty minutes already. "What in tarnation are ya still examining Rarity, you've been lookin me over for twenty minutes now," she said to her, agitation being expressed in her words. "Alright darling, you can step down now," Rarity replied, taking off her glasses and placing them on the table. "I was just making sure everything was perfect for you, since making a dress to go with that hat isn't easy." Applejack stepped off the circle and looked in the mirror, admiring the girls work. "I will say though Rarity, you outdid yourself this time." Rarity joined her by the mirror. "Oh don't be so modest Applejack, I try to make everyone look there best." "Where's your dress?" AJ asked. "I'll go get it," she said, walking away from the mirror and toward her room. Applejack looked back in the mirror and admired her work. Before they went to the dance, Rarity had Applejack come over to let her look at her dress one last time, even though Applejack wasn't sure what she could've done right on the day of the dance. Even though Applejack wasn't big on dresses, she did like the one she was currently wearing. Truth be told, it did go with her cowboy hat, somehow. As the next hour was closing in, AJ heard Rarity returning. When she turned around to say something, her words got stuck in her throat. Rarity looked beautiful, absolutely stunning, and Applejack was definitely stunned. "What do you think?" Rarity asked, twirling in her spot. "...you look amazing," Applejack finally spoke, earning a giggle from Rarity. "I can always rely on you to be honest Applejack," she said, walking over to grab her purse. "Hehe, yeah..." Applejack stated, but she truly did mean it, Rarity looked amazing tonight, better than she ever had before. "Are you ready darling?" Rarity asked, snapping AJ out of her thinking state. "Yes, I'm ready," she replied, following Rarity out of her house. She climbed into the passenger seat of the car, and just sat back as Rarity drove down the road. When they arrived at the school, they both could tell that the party had just started, since there were few cars in the parking lot. The name guy took their names and let them in, letting them both walk down the halls. "I can't wait to see how all the girls dresses will look when we're all together," Rarity happily explained to AJ. "If you made them, I'm sure they'll look amazing," AJ stated to her, earning another giggle from Rarity. After establishing their standing spot in the room, it didn't take long for Pinkie and Rainbow to find them at the same time. Then Fluttershy joined them, along with the two Twilights. "I can't thank you enough for this dress Rarity," Twi, the human Twilight, said to her. "Think nothing of it darling, I want everyone to be able to look their best on nights such as these," Rarity replied. At that moment, Sunset joined up with them, and not long after that, the Dazzlings joined, each of them wearing Rarity's crowning achievements, since making dresses for their figures wasn't as easy as the others. Each of them complimented on her work, while Rarity tried maintaining her generous nature and not let it go straight to her head. When the slow romantic music began to play, Applejack turned to Rarity, rubbing the back of her head as she did it. "Rarity, would you like to dance?" Rarity placed a hand over her mouth as she giggled, before excepting Applejack's hand. "I'd love to darling." The two of them walked out onto the dance floor, and moved into their dancing positions. As they moved back and forth to the music, Applejack was once again stunned by just how ravishing Rarity looked this evening. "Applejack?" Rarity asked, snapping her back into the present. "You've been awfully distracted today, is something bothering you?" "Nothings bothering me...I've just been admiring how gorgeous you look tonight..." AJ replied with a small blush. "Oh Applejack, there's no need to be overly nice," Rarity stated to her. "It's true though, you look amazing." Rarity gripped AJ's hand as they continued to dance. "You really think so?" "I do, you look absolutely stunning tonight...although to be honest, you always look amazing." Now Rarity had a small blush on her face, as well as a smile. "Thank you Applejack. I think you look lovely tonight as well." AJ squeezed her hand and slowly pulled her closer, the two of them looking into each others eyes as they danced, blushing as they did so. Then the two of them moved in for a loving kiss, stopping their movement to do so. As everyone else danced around them, they stood and shared their love. Almost a full minute goes by before they pull away, and go back to dancing. Each of them knew how the other felt, and they didn't need words to express that. They just swayed back and forth, enjoying the presence of each other. > Twilight and Twilight > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Both of the Twilights arrived at the same time, since they were spending the day together. Twi, the human world Twilight, wanted to spend the day with the visiting princess, hearing her stories about Equestria and just enjoying her company in general. When they walked up to the door, the name guy greeted them, getting kind of confused. "Hello Twilight...and Twilight?" he said, looking from one to the other. Both of the girls giggled before Twilight spoke up. "Yes, you should find two Twilight Sparkles in your book." The name guy looked through the T's until he found both of their names. He just shrugged his shoulders and crossed them off, letting them inside. "That never gets old," Twi said to her pony counterpart. "Yep," Twilight responded with a giggle. When the two of them entered the room, it didn't take long for them to find the other girls. With haste, they quickly made their way over to them, giving them both smiles and waves. "Hello Twilights, I'm happy to see both of you here," Rarity said to them. "We're glad to see you too," Twilight replied to her. "I can't thank you enough for this dress Rarity," Twi stated to her. As Rarity replied, Sunset joined the group. Twilight and Sunset talked about Equestria for a little bit, until the Dazzlings joined the group. Twilight still didn't trust the Dazzlings, especially Adagio, but she took Sunset's word when she said they've turned to the good side. Once the group dispersed, the two Twilights walked over to the drink table. After getting their drinks, they both started to chat again, until Twilight noticed Flash Sentry walking up to them. "Hey Twilight, long time no see," he said with a smile. "Hey, it has been awhile hasn't it," Twilight replied, trying to be nice. "I was just wondering if you would want to, dance with me?" he asked. "Oh I would, but I just got asked by Twi, and I don't want to be rude to her," she responded, taking Twi's hand and making her way to the dance floor. "Maybe next time." "Yeah, next time, sounds good," Flash said to her, before walking away. "I didn't ask to dance," Twi said to her as they got into dancing positions. "I know, but I just wanted to get away from Flash, he's annoying," Twilight responded, which Twi nodded to. The two of them started to dance, waltzing back and forth. Even though Twi didn't ask her to dance, that's not to say she wasn't enjoying it. In fact, Twi enjoyed just about anything she and Twilight did together. Whether it was confusing people by being at the same place at the same time, trying out different scientific experiments, or just listening to Twilight's Equestria stories, Twi always had a good time. As they continued to dance, Twi couldn't help but stare into Twilight's purple eyes, and the same went for Twilight. When they both realized what they were doing, they looked away blushing. They continued to dance until the music stopped, since Twilight didn't want to deal with Flash asking her for another dance. When they walked off the dance floor, Twi got to talk to the other Shadowbolts, who were now at the party. Twilight just stood and listened to their conversation, until she saw Flash walking up to her again. "Hey Twilight, since we didn't get to dance together, I was wondering if you would want to go down to the gazebo with me?" he asked with a smile. "As a matter of fact, I was just about to go there with Twi, so sorry, I can't," she replied, earning a look of confusion and shock from Flash. "Your going down there...with her?" he asked. "Yep," Twilight replied, before grabbing Twi's hand again and making her way out of the building. Luckily she saw where the gazebo was when they pulled into the parking lot earlier, so she knew where to go. Once they were in their destination, Twilight turned to Twi. "What was his deal?" Twi just stood there, blushing dark red. "You don't know what this is used for?" Twilight shook her head, which prompted Twi to respond. "Pinkie told me one day that the gazebo is only ever used when couples come down here to...to kiss..." Now Twilight was also blushing dark red, making her turn away to escape the awkwardness of the situation. "So that's why he was so confused." The two girls stood in silence, occasionally looking over at each other in the corner of their eyes. "Should we go back inside?" Twi asked, breaking the silence. Twilight shifted in her spot before answering. "Actually, I want us to...run an experiment with each other..." Twi looked over at her quickly. "What?" "I was thinking that...maybe we could run an experiment...since we're both scientists to certain degree...and because I'm generally curious..." "What's the experiment?" Twi asked, even though she probably already knew the answer. "I think we should...use this place for it's intended purpose..." Twi couldn't believe what she was hearing. A version of herself, was wanting to kiss her. All the morality in Twi's body was saying no, but a part of her was saying yes. Sure it's probably wrong on so many levels, but she was in fact now curious about it as well. With a deep breath, Twi gave her answer. "O-Ok...for science." "For science," Twilight responded. The two of them moved forward, wrapping their arms around each other. Once they were nice and close, they leaned forward and kissed. What started as a peck on the lips, soon turned to much more. As the kiss became more passionate, they pulled each other closer. Twi opened her mouth so Twilight could slip her tongue in, letting both of their tongues slid together. A small moan was emitted from Twilight as she explored Twi's mouth. After a few minutes of passionate kissing, they pulled away, a spit line being left behind. "That was...amazing," Twi stated, catching her breath. "Yeah, it definitely was...wanna do it again?" Twilight asked. Twi responded by pressing their lips together again, already letting Twilight slip her tongue in. Several kisses later, the two of them decided to go back inside, just in case some other couple needed the gazebo. > Sour Sweet and Lemon Zest > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sour Sweet stood leaning against the side of the van, waiting for her companions to join her so they could leave. She gave a sigh as she loudly tapped the side of the van with her fist, while continuing to look towards Sunny Flare's house. After borrowing a van from their school, the Shadowbolts all decided to ride together to the dance, which came with one problem, Sunny Flare taking her sweet ass time checking over every little detail of each of their dresses. Thankfully Sour Sweet managed to get out of it, mostly because her dress was fine and also because Sunny could see that she was visibly upset. The first one to join her was Lemon Zest, since her dress was more on the simpler side of things. The music enthusiast stood next to her, leaning against the van as well. "Why are we going to this again? Like I know Twi wants us to be there, and Sunset as well, but why?" Lemon asked. Sour Sweet gained her smile back as she explained. "Because we need to be nice to the other school, and try to be friends with them." Her smiled quickly faded as she added on to her explanation. "No matter how much we dislike them." Lemon nodded her head and went to pull down her headphones, but remembered that Sunny had taken them, saying they didn't go well with her dress. It's not that Lemon didn't like the CHS people, she just wasn't fond of dresses and formal parties. Although she wasn't worried about herself having a good time, she was more so worried about Sour Sweet. Despite having a sweet side to herself, that Lemon would admit could be pretty adorable, she also had her infamous sour side, which kept people away from her. She knew Sour would get self-conscious about it, which is why she wasn't a party person. Because of all of this, Lemon didn't know how Sour would do at the party, since the only thing the CHS people have to go off of is her at the Friendship Games. Her thoughts were interrupted when she saw Indigo walking out of the house, not happy to be in a dress. "I hate dresses, why do we even need to wear these? I'm pretty sure we can go in whatever we want," Indigo complained as she joined the other two. "Because you look really good in it Indigo," Sour Sweet stated with a smile, before it turned back into a grumpy frown. "So deal with it." Indigo just rolled her eyes and stood next to Lemon, who was still wishing she had her headphones. The three were rather quiet until Sugarcoat moved out of the house, with Sunny not far behind. "About time, do you know how late it is?" Indigo stated to Sunny. "Fashion takes time to be perfect," Sunny responded. "I'm sure it does," Sour Sweet commented, before pulling her forward by her dress. "But because of you, we're really late, so next time, don't take so freaking long. Got that?" "Yes, yes, just let go of my dress," Sunny replied, which Sour responded to by letting her go and getting in the driver seat. Each of the Shadowbolts took their seats as Sour started to drive away. It took longer to get there than what Sour hoped for, but they eventually made it. Once they were parked and out of the vehicle, they preceded to the door, where the name guy greeted them. "Welcome back to CHS, I hope you all have a great night," he said with a smile. "Aren't you sweet, thank you," Sour said with a kind smile, before it disappeared. "Just take our names already." Once they were marked off and inside, they quickly headed for the gym. Once they all made it inside, they witnessed the end of the dance music, which made them all sigh, except for Sugarcoat. "If we would've been here on time, we would've been able to enjoy the music," Lemon stated, looking over at Sunny Flare. "Well I'm sorry if my masterpieces need more time than most dresses," Sunny replied, checking her nails. "Maybe you should've made them sooner, than we might of actually been here for the good part," Sour added. Sunny wanted to continue to argue so she could defend her works of art, but decided not to when she saw the two Twilights walking towards them. "Hello Twi, and hello Twilight." "Hey Sunny, I'm glad to see you girls finally made it," Twi said to them. "We would've been here sooner if Sunny didn't take her sweet ass time," Indigo said to her, earning a glare from Sunny. "You didn't miss much, just a dance number," Twi told them, hoping that would brighten their mood. "Did you dance with anyone Twi?" Lemon asked, which Twi responded by pointing to Twilight. "At least is was with someone you know really well...since she's you?" Twi giggled at this and nodded her head, when she noticed Flash approaching Twilight. The two said some words, before Twilight pulled Twi away, leaving Flash standing with the Shadowbolts. Flash turned back to them and decided to be nice. "So, it's been a while since you guys were here." "It's only been three months since the Friendship games," Sugarcoat stated. Flash didn't know how to respond to that, so he turned to Sour Sweet. "I like your dress." "Aw, thank you. Are you flirting with me?" she said to him, quickly catching him off guard. "What, no! I just wanted to be nice," he quickly replied. Well your really bad at it. You should try a simpler approach next time." Sour stated to him, her frown quickly turning to a smile, confusing him even more. "Ok? Well it was nice speaking to you, have a nice party," he said, before speeding off in another direction. Sunny watched him walk away before commenting. "Sour, your such a problem." Sour crossed her arms and turned to her friend. "Excuse me?" This time Indigo spoke up. "You just keep switching in and out of being nice and bitchy, when it really just makes you bitchy in general." "What?" Sour replied, already feeling a little shaky. "Your nature makes you a bitch," Sugarcoat stated. Sour Sweet could feel some tears form around her eyes, and she turned so the rest of them couldn't see them. "Well screw you guys too," she said before running off and into the building. The others stood there confused, confused as to why she reacted like that. It wasn't the first time they've told her about her switching moods. "What's her prob-" Indigo started to say. "You guys can be bitches to sometimes, you know that," Lemon stated, before running off after her friend. The rest of the Shadowbolts didn't know how to respond, so they just stood there, looking off in the direction they ran. As Lemon ran off into the school, she was really hoping Sour was ok. What the others didn't know was that Sour Sweet couldn't control her bipolar nature. It had gotten to the point that she only controlled half of what she said, and it made her really self-conscious about it. Lemon knew Sour hated herself for it, going as far as to sink into depression about it. Lemon hadn't had a opportunity yet to tell the others about her self-consciousness yet, so she really hoped a situation like this wouldn't happen until then, but now she had to deal with the consequences. Lemon found her on one of the outdoor balconies, quietly crying to herself. When Sour Sweet hear someone approaching, she quickly retorted. "Go away." "Sour, it's just me. I came to see if you was ok," Lemon calmly said, as she walked up beside her. Sour calmed down and looked out over the school property. "Why?" she asked, making Lemon turn to her. "Why am I like this?" Lemon put her arm around Sour and pulled her close, trying her best to comfort her. "I don't know Sour, but the girls down there didn't mean it." Sure they didn't, just like everyone else." "Sour, there your friends, they just want to look out for you, even though they don't know you can't control it," Lemon stated to her. "Well they're doing a poor job of it. I'm glad I have you Lemon, but why do you put up with me?" Sour asked. Lemon pulled Sour in for a hug, taking the girl off guard. "Because your my best friend Sour, and I know you just want someone to be there for you." Sour hugged her back, holding her tightly. When they parted, Lemon had more to say. "Also, because I care about you Sour, a lot." Sour wiped some of the tears from her face before replying. "You...you do?" Lemon nodded her head. "This probably isn't the best time to say this...but I love you Sour." Sour stood there, unsure of what she just heard. She just stood there, unmoving, which started to unnerve Lemon. "Um...Sour...you alright?" Sour snapped back into reality, and responded by pulling Lemon in for a kiss. Lemon's eyes went wide at the sudden contact, but soon closed as she kissed back. The two girls wrapped their arms around each other, pulling each other close. When they parted, Sour gave her best smile. "I've never been happier." Lemon smiled back at her and pulled in for another kiss, happy that the cat was out of the bag. Of to the side, the rest of the Shadowbolts were watching what just happened, and they were shocked, but not unhappy about it. They all came up to apologize, but found a new couple being formed. "So...that's a thing," Indigo whispered. Once the new couple was finished expressing their love, the three girls emerged from hiding and walked towards them, saying they were sorry and trying to undo the damage they did. Sour smiled back at them and excepted their apology, and created group hug. Once the hug was over, they all started walking back down to the gym, with Sour and Lemon holding hands. > Octavia and Vinyl > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Octavia sat on her chair on top of the stage, gripping her cello tightly. She had been sitting there playing her cello nonstop for the majority of the party, and she wanted nothing more than to take a break. She knew the music was to end soon, but the wait was unbearable, each minute feeling like a hour. She loved playing her cello more than anything else, but even people obsessed with something need a break from it eventually. She played her last note, and let out a sigh of relief. She got up and bowed for the clapping audience, as did the other musicians. As they exited the stage, Octavia passed Vinyl as she was on the way to her music station. Vinyl flashed her a quick but warm smile as she walked by, prompting the cellist to smile back. As Octavia walked away, she closed her eyes and re-pictured the DJ's smile in her head, which created some warmth in her cheeks. Octavia would never admit it, but she had a crush on Vinyl, despite both of them being polar opposites in about everything. If any normal person looked at the two of them and how they acted, they would never believe one liked the other. Octavia was refined and polished, while Vinyl was...not those things. Even with these differences, the two of them had been friends for years, since Vinyl was one of Octavia's first friends. When the cellist moved to the town and started attending CHS, she was rather shy and stayed to herself, but during a music class one day, she was approached by Vinyl, and was surprised to see that she was mute. Octavia had never met a mute girl before, but it became one of the many things that Octavia found fascinating about the DJ. As she walked away from the stage and towards the bleachers, she sent one last look towards Vinyl's direction, before finding herself a seat. As Vinyl did her thing, she looked over at Octavia sitting on the bleachers, looking rather bored and alone. The DJ felt like going and giving her a hug, but she had a job to do. As she played her music, she kept looking over at her to see if she was having a good time, and each time she looked, she saw that Octavia's mood hadn't changed. Her thoughts went back to her music, since her big finally was about to come up. With a dazzling performance, she concluded her presentation, earning the clapping of her audience. After receiving several fist bumps and high fives, Vinyl quickly made her way over to her best friend, plopping down next to her and waving to her. Octavia looked up from having her head in her hands and smiled at her. "Hello Vinyl, your performance was spectacular." Vinyl gestured with her hand to say it was nothing. She then pulled out her phone and typed something on to it, before showing it to her friend. "Are you alright, you look bored?" it read. Octavia looked away from the phone and sighed. "I'm alright love, just...disappointed that I didn't get to enjoy the dance more, specifically the dancing part, but that's the price you pay as a musician." Vinyl leaned back in her seat and looked out at the people. Technically she was right, the musicians don't really get a chance to enjoy the evening like everyone else. As Vinyl sat there, a idea popped into her head. She looked around the room for someone specific. Once she found her, she quickly went through the plan again in her head, multiple times. 'Yeah, it just might work.' she thought in her head. She quickly typed down some words on her phone and showed it to her friend, saying for her to wait here, I have a surprise to show you. Octavia looked at her confused before nodding her head, and turning back to look at the crowd. Vinyl jumped up from her seat and quickly made her way upstairs. She went to one of the balcony's to see if it was occupied, but thankfully it wasn't. With that done, she quickly raced back downstairs and into the locker room, retrieving the dress Rarity made for her several months ago, but wasn't sure if she was going to wear it, since being a DJ apparently meant you could go to a dance and get away with not wearing a dress. As quickly as she could, she put on the dress and fashioned her hair in a way that looked decent. With this done, she moved out of the locker room and moved on to the last part of her plan. She moved around the crowd, trying desperately to not trip on her dress as she looked for someone. She finally found that someone and tapped them on the shoulder. Sunset felt a tap on her shoulder and turned around to see Vinyl standing behind her. "Oh hey Vinyl, I loved your music," she said with a smile. Vinyl returned the smile and did the same hand gesture as before. She turned to Adagio and waved to her, which the siren returned. With that done, she quickly typed something on her phone and showed it to Sunset. "I need your help with something really important." it read. "Um, ok, what is it?" Sunset asked. Vinyl typed out on her phone what it was and showed it to her, which Sunset read and quickly understood what to do. When Vinyl saw that she understood, she gave a her another smile and moved on, while Sunset moved to go grab the guitar from the stage. With both girls quickly walking away, Adagio was left just standing there awkwardly. She crossed her arms and looked around, until she heard her name being called. "Adagio, you will not believe what happened!" Sonata said as she made her way over to her leader, with Aria right behind her. Octavia looked around from her spot on the bleachers, wondering where Vinyl could've run off to. She finally had someone to talk to, and they had somewhere to go. As she moved her head back onto her hands, she noticed Derpy walking towards her. "Vinyl told me to tell you that she wants you to meet her on the right balcony upstairs," Derpy informed her with a innocent smile. Octavia smiled back to her and moved from her seat, making her way towards the stairs. 'What is she up to this time?' Octavia thought to herself. When she approached the door to the balcony, she stopped and listened. 'Is, is that...guitar music?' she asked herself. When she opened the door and walked out, she stopped in her tracks. Standing a few feet from her was Vinyl, dressed in a beautiful blue sparkling dress, and off to the side was Sunset, strumming away on a guitar, playing a romantic melody. The lovely night sky mixed with the lights and the romantic music enraptured the cellist, making her speechless. Vinyl gave a silent giggle as she moved forward, placing her hand in the one of the cellist's, and putting her other one around her. Octavia mimicked her movement, and the two started dancing, with Sunset smiling at the two. "Vinyl...this is...this is amazing," Octavia finally spoke, earning a smile from Vinyl. What the DJ would give to be able to speak at this moment. To say it was all for her, or say how beautiful she looked, or say how much she meant to her, but all Vinyl could do was smile and continue to move to the music. After several minutes of silent dancing, with the exception of the obvious music, Sunset played her last few notes, which had the dancers stop and look into each others eyes. "I...I don't know what to say..." Octavia spoke up. Vinyl smiled before giving the cellist a soft kiss on the lips. Octavia blushed deeply as she closed her eyes, kissing back and putting both arms around her. When they parted, Octavia smiled to her. "You never did need words to express how you felt." Vinyl shook her head slowly, before looking over at Sunset and nodding. Sunset nodded back and started to play again, letting the two girls move back into their dancing position. They once again started moving to the music, with Octavia bringing them both closer and whispering in her ear, "Thank you, love."
