> Spike's secret admirer > by PuzzleMaster98 > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > The Beginning of it all > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- It was quiet in Ponyville's Golden Oaks Library. Spike the Dragon was reading a comic book with utter fascination. "Go Power Ponies!! You can beat the Mane-iac." Spike cheered as he read the comic. He was by himself for the night, since Twilight had been called to Canterlot by Princess Celestia to do some research on some ancient artifact. But he was ok with that. He just had to do everything on the list she had left him, and then he was free to do whatever he wanted. He had finished the chores on the list 4 hours earlier, and had grabbed some gems to eat for dinner as he read his comic books. The gems had been eaten quickly, and Spike was just finishing up his last Power Ponies comic when.... *Knock knock knock!* "Aaaahhh!" Spike yelled, having been startled. "What the heck was that sound??!" *Knock knock knock!* He quickly turned to where the knocking was coming from. It was coming from the door!! "Who could it be?" He wondered. *Knock knock knock!* "I'll be right there. Just wait a second," said Spike with a huff as he set the comic down. He got up, and ran to the door, not wanting to make the pony knocking have to wait any longer. "Sorry for taking so long." Spike said as he opened the door, too caught up apologizing to see who was there. "What can I do forrrr......" Spike's voice trailed off as he noticed that no pony was there. "What the hay?" Spike said with confusion. "I know somepony knocked, so where are they?" Spike quickly stepped outside, and looked around. But he saw no pony around. Sighing, he turned to go back inside, when he noticed a note on the door. Surprised, he carefully pulled the note from the door..... H€ll0 H@nd$0^^ Fr0^^ Ur $€(R€t @d^^!r€r Spike's eyes widened at this. A secret admirer!! He had heard about secret admirers from Rarity, who always got tons of letters from secret admirers, but he never thought that he had one himself. 'I wonder who wrote this?' Spike asked himself as he went back inside, note in hand. 'I know Rarity didn't write it. She's not the type of pony to do something like this. But who did write this?' As he continued to mull over who had written the note, he shut the door and went back to his chair. He sat down, and closely inspected the note. 'Hmmmm. Well, it can't be one of the girls. They don't look at me like that at all, and they wouldn't use red ink.' Spike thought as he continued to examine the note. 'No ink smears. Whoever wrote this took their time, so i don't really think this is prank.' Spike leaned back, pondering about the writer of the note. Who could it be from, and how do they know him? "Well, whoever it is obviously likes me, and has probably been following me, which is a little creepy, but they are probably too nervous to meet me face to face," Spike said as he sat back up in his chair. "Well, I'm going to find out who this is, and nothings going to stop me!!" He declared, standing up as he did so. Suddenly, the lights went out, startling Spike. "Bwaaah!! The lights!!" Spike took a deep breath to calm down, and slowly let it out. 'It's ok Spike. You're a dragon. There's no need to be scared of the dark.' The sound of papers moving greeted Spike's sharp hearing. "Who's there?" He said. The sound stopped. The lights came back on, surprising him again, but he quickly calmed down."Ok. That happened," Spike said, looking around the room. "Huh. Everything's the same." With that Spike turned back to the note to study it some more, when he gasped.... (@n't w8t 2 $€€ u The note had been switched!! Spike stared at the note with wide eyes. 'When the heck was the note switched!!' He practically yelled in his head. 'Could it have been when the lights went out? Yeah, that must be when it happened.' He concluded. 'But that means that.....' His thought trailed off as he realized that it meant that somepony had come inside the library and had used magic to switch the note. Spike quickly ran around the room, looking in every nook and cranny for any evidence of the mystery pony. But he found none. "I know I checked everywhere, but no sign of the mystery pony." Spike said, scratching his head. "So, who in Equestria moved the note?" He thought for a few minutes, and shrugged. "Maybe the answer will come to me in the morning after a good nights sleep," Spike said. With that, he turned the lights off, and went to bed. When Spike left for bed, a tall, slender figure stepped out of the shadows. The figure looked in Spike's direction, and sighed softly. 'The answer will come tomorrow for you, my dear,' The figure thought as it stared at Spike's bedroom. 'It will come.' With that, the figure grabbed the note, looked once more in Spike's direction, and sank back into the shadows. > The First Clues > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- The next morning, Spike woke up, rubbing the sleep from his eyes as he got out of bed. He stretched his arms, and yawned. "That was a good sleep," he said, as he slowly walked to his door. He opened the door, and left his room to eat breakfast. When he went downstairs to eat breakfast, he noticed the note on the desk. Or rather, not on the desk. The note had disappeared. "Where did it go??!!" yelled Spike as he ran to the desk. He looked on top of it and under it, but to his dismay, the note was gone. "Oh, where is it?! Where is it!!?" Spike said as he looked around frantically. After several minutes of frantic searching, he decided to look for it after breakfast. He trudged into the kitchen, and grabbed himself a few gems for his breakfast. After eating the gems, he went back upstairs to brush and floss his teeth. After brushing his teeth, he went back downstairs to continue searching for the note. He looked all over the library, but could not find it. Sighing sadly, he grabbed one of his comics, and sat down to read. When he opened the comic book, there was a note..... 'Who put the note in my comic book? When did they do it? And how did they know that I wanted to know more about them?' He picked up the note, and brought it over to the desk. He sat down, and examined it. "It appears to be the same writing as the last note. I guess its from the same pony." He sat back, and pondered over it for a few more minutes. "A white pony with a black mane and tail. Huh. That's cool. I like the color combination," Spike stated as he got up. "Now back to my comic books!" He said excitedly. He started reading his comic books, when he noticed that one window had the curtains closed. 'Hmph. I wonder why the curtains are closed. I don't remember closing them, but I probably forgot,' Spike thought as he went over to them. When Spike opened the curtains, he gasped, for on the window there was another note..... Is that what they do for a living?' Spike thought, as he reached out a grabbed the note. 'That sounds a bit scary, but I guess I'll find out why they do it if I meet them.' With that, he turned from the window and went back to his chair to continue reading. A few hours went by, and Spike had read all of his comic books again. He wasn't really paying attention to the story that much though. His mind kept on going over the notes he had received. 'They are white with a black mane and tail, and they like to punish criminals. I wonder what the other clues are going to reveal.' Spike was brought out of his thoughts by a knock at the door. He quickly dropped his comic and ran to the door. He opened it, and found a package on the doorstep addressed to him from Twilight. "Great!! I wonder what Twilight sent me?" Spike said aloud. He picked up the package, and brought it inside, where he then set it on a table. Using his claws, Spike cut the string on it, and opened the box. There was a letter addressed to him on top of another box. Spike opened the letter which read, Dear Spike, My dear number 1 assistant Spike, I hope you are doing well. I wish I could have brought you with me to Canterlot, but Princess Celestia requested for only me to come. I think of you all the time, and I got you a little something as an apology. I love you so much Spike. Make sure to do the chores, and I will be back in a week. Sincerely, Twilight Sparkle Spike smiled after he read the letter. He loved Twilight, and was very happy that she got him a gift. He brought the letter to his room, where he put it in a box of old letters addressed to him. He then went back to the box, and took out the slightly smaller box inside. He carefully opened it, and his smile grew even bigger when it was fully opened. The box contained a few new comics, a book about mythological beings, and some small rubies. He took the rubies, and placed them with his other gems. The comics he put by his chair, and the book he put with his other books. "Twilight sure did get me some great gifts," Spike said as he began to read his new comics. Suddenly, he heard the sound of gems clinking together. He looked up from his comic, and looked around to find out where the sound was coming from. *Clink!!* His eyes landed on the box he had just opened. The sound was coming from inside it!! Spike slowly got up, and crept over to the box. When he looked inside, he gasped. Inside was a folded note, and several large beautiful gems that must have taken a long time to find. Spike immediately took the gems, and placed them with the rest of his gems. Spike then came back to examine the note, and noticed a black lipstick mark on it. 'I'm glad they can be gentle, but how powerful are they?' Spike put the note back down, and growled with impatience. "Man, I can barely wait to meet them!! I want to know who they are, and how powerful they are, and why they like me." Spike huffed, and decided to just continue reading his comics for now. So he did just that, and for the rest of the day all he did was read his comics, the notes laying on the table. > The Final Clues > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Spike was stumped, to say the least. The clues he had received were helpful, but he still couldn't figure out who his secret admirer was. He hummed a little tune as he pondered the clues he had received so far. 'Ok, what do i know so far about them? They are white with a black mane and tail. They are tall, and like to torture wary criminals. They are also gentle, but are very strong.' Spike puzzled and puzzled till his head was sore. Finally, he couldn't take it anymore. "Argh!! I can't figure out who it is!! I need more clues!!" He yelled, balling his hands into fists with frustration. He decided to go get a snack from the kitchen to help, thinking that maybe with a full stomach he could concentrate better. As he went to the kitchen, he tried to think about who the admirer could be, but he kept on drawing a blank. He opened the cupboard, but to his disappointment found no gems at all. "Aww man!!" Spike groaned. He had been looking forward to eating some gems for a snack, but it looked like he would go hungry this time. "I guess i can have some hay for dinner," he mumbled, not happy about the emptiness of the cupboard. He closed the cupboard, and started to walk away, deciding to read a comic book instead. **Clink!!!** Spike stopped, having heard the noise. He listened for the sound again, but heard nothing. Sighing, he resumed heading towards his room, wanting to get his comic books. **CREEAAKKK!!!** He definitely heard that! He spun around, looking to see what had made that noise. His eyes looked around the room, till they landed on the now open cupboard. "Huh. I know i closed it," Spike said as he walked back over to the cupboard. "I guess i didn't close it all the...." Spike trailed off as he noticed that there was something in the cupboard that had not been there before. Carefully, he reached in and pulled it out. When he saw the item, he gasped. It was a large sapphire!! He grinned at the sight of the large gem. He didn't have to go hungry for snack time now!! But he wondered, where did the gem come from? He was certain that the cupboard was empty the last time he looked. "Huh. Who put the gem there?" He muttered, his curiosity raised. After looking in and around the cupboard for clues as to who put the gem there, he took a bite of the gem, having found no clues. "Mmmmmm," Spike moaned, the gem tasting delicious in his mouth. As he munched on the gem, he walked over to his chair and sat down. He picked up a random book, and started to read. Coincidentally, it was the book about mythical beings from Twilight. "Hmmm, interesting," said Spike, turning the page. "The Pony of Shadows." He arched an eyebrow, curious to see what the book had to offer about this being. "Huh. I wonder what this book says about it." He looked at the description below the entry, and read them aloud to himself. "The Pony of Shadows is a monstrous pony made completely of shadows. This being wants nothing more than to cover the world in darkness." "Huh," he said, sitting back as he thought about the Pony of Shadows. 'This creature sounds like Nightmare Moon, except she only wanted eternal night, while this guy.....' he trailed off in thought, not wanting to continue that thought. He turned his attention back to the book, and started to turn the page. Suddenly, Spike could feel a familiar bubbling sensation in his chest. He quickly closed the book and set it down, not wanting to accidentally burn the book. Soon, he felt the bubbling sensation intensify, and he opened his mouth, allowing green flames to shoot out into the air. As the flames shot out, a scroll materialized into the air. The flames disappeared, leaving the scroll behind as it fell onto his lap. Spike reached out, and took the scroll. He noticed that there was a black lipstick kiss on it, letting him know who it was from, and causing him to be slightly confused. "How in the world did they learn the spell that links me to Celestia?" He knew for a fact that the spell allowing his fire to send and receive messages from Celestia was not an easy spell to learn. But he thought only Celestia knew it, so how did they learn the spell? Racking his brains, he was unable to figure out how they did it, and decided to think about it later. Turning his attention back to the scroll, he opened it.... H€ll0 Th€ N€xt (lu€ ! @m @ ^^@r€ W!th F€€l!ng$ 4 u Th@t R 100% (0^^pl€t€ly Tru€ Spike's eyes widened. This mare had real feelings for him?!! That stunned him! He thought that the notes had been a prank, but this changed everything! He sat down, trying to collect his thoughts. His thoughts were hurtling all over the place. 'This isn't a prank. Who is this mare? How long have they had feelings for me? Why the strange clues?' Eventually, it was too much for Spike, and he groaned in frustration. Spike then decided to give his thoughts a rest, and laid back in his chair, resting his head. Soon, he fell into a deep sleep, during which a shadowy figure appeared in the library. The figure walked over to Spike, and looked at him with love in their eyes. The figure then levitated the book, and moved it away from Spike until it was on the desk. The figure then looked at Spike once more, before disappearing into the shadows. A few hours later Spike woke up, having gotten his energy back. He stretched, while saying, "Ahhhh! That was a good nap. I needed that." He then looked at the clock to see what time it was. 'Huh. It's 2:00,' noted Spike with some surprise. He had taken naps before, but never before had he taken a 3 hour nap. He got out of his chair with a grunt, and stretched again, popping his spine in a few places. 'Ahhhhhh, that's better.' He then decided to go ahead and sweep the library, not having anything else to do besides read. He grabbed his trusty broom and dustpan, and began to sweep the library, while singing a song he had heard in Canterlot. All rights to this song go to their rightful owners Soon, Spike had finished sweeping the library, and gave himself a pat on the back for a job well done. "Good job Spike. Good job," he told himself with a grin. As he put away his broom and dustpan, he couldn't help but wonder when the next clue was going to arrive, and what it would say. Shrugging his shoulders at the thought, he went to the kitchen to get himself something to drink. When he arrived in the kitchen, he went over to the fridge and opened it, sticking his head into the fridge to see what there was to drink. He saw apple juice, grape juice, milk, and orange juice in the fridge, and decided to have a glass of milk. He pulled out the bottle of milk, and went over to the cupboard, where he got himself a glass. Setting the glass on the counter, Spike opened the bottle and poured himself a glass. He then closed the bottle back up, and set it back inside the fridge, closing it once he did so. He then took his glass of milk, and drank it up, enjoying the taste of the milk across his tongue. Afterwards, he put his cup in the sink, deciding to wash it that night. He then left the kitchen, and went back to the library, figuring that he would continue to read the book Twilight had given him. When he got to his chair, he discovered that the book was missing. "Huh? Where did it go?" Worried about having possibly lost the book, he bent down and looked under his chair, but found nothing. He then stood back up, and looked around the room, his eyes searching for the book. His face lit up with relief when he saw that the book was on the desk. He walked over to the desk, muttering, "I guess I put it here when I went to get my broom." He picked up the book, but noticed that there was something sticking out of it. Curious as to what it was, he pulled it out. His eyes widened when he saw that it was a folded note. "What the-? Where did this come from?" He asked, non-existent eyebrows raised in confusion at the sight of the note. Turning the note over, he saw that the seal on it was a black kiss. A bit nervous and excited about what it could say, Spike broke the seal, and opened the note....... H€ll0 @g@!n H€r€ !$ Th€ F!n@l (lu€ Turn @r0und Spike's heart started beating faster. He took a few steps back to get a better look, and his jaw dropped. Slender white legs went up, and up till he saw a feminine, pure white face. He could see a faint outline of their eyes and a long horn, but other than that, there were no noticeable features on the face. Spike gawked at the pony before him, unable to speak due to being in shock. The pony giggled at his reaction, and spoke in a calm, sweet voice, revealing a faint line where her mouth was. "Hello Spike!! My name is SlenderMare, but you can call me Slendy." At this, Spike snapped out of his stupor, and said, "What?" The pony sighed, and said, "My name is SlenderMare, but you can call me Slendy." Spike slowly nodded, and said, "Ok, Slendy." When she heard him say this, she smiled. Inside her mind 'Yes!!!! He called me Slendy!! Oh i feel so alive! I want to hug him and kiss him so badly, but i don't want to scare him more.' Spike continued talking. "Soooo, you are my secret admirer?" When he received a nod, he asked, "Why? What is so interesting about me?" Slendy made a noticeable grin on her pure white face. "Everything about you is interesting!!! You're the adopted sibling of Princess Twilight Sparkle, friends with Dragon Lord Ember, and the savior of the Crystal Empire. You're also not like other dragons. You're nice and loving. Not mean or greedy. I like that." Spike blushed at that. "W-why thank you!!" Looking at her body, he continued. "I like your white fur and black mane. As well as your horn." Slendy blushed, which showed up very easily on her white coat. "Why thank you Spike." She put a hoof in front of her and looked down at it, feeling shy from the compliments. She wasn't used to receiving compliments, so every time she received one, she would feel shy. Spike smiled at the way she was acting. She looked so cute being shy!! Suddenly, a thought rose in his mind. "Slendy?" he asked, getting her attention. "Yes Spike?" "How did you know all of that stuff about me?" Spike hoped she wasn't a stalker, or a crazy fan. He already had enough of those in the Crystal Empire. Slendy looked up at him, and smiled. "Why, I read the papers of course. I'm not some stalker or crazy fan. I am a mare who is in love, and wants to know all about the one she loves the right way." Spike's eyes widened, and he felt his heart beat slightly faster. She loved him? Pushing that thought to the side, he responded. "Oh. That makes sense." She nodded. "I know you were worried about that being a possibility. But I assure you that I am not a stalker or obsessed fan." 'Yeah right,' she thought to herself. 'Once you heard about him and saw him, you talked with Celestia and Luna about him, as well as Cadence. You even have a few posters of him in your room.' Spike sighed in relief. "Oh thank goodness!! I was afraid that you were one." He chuckled. "I remember this one fan was so obsessed about Twilight that he even dressed like her, taking her own clothes. He got caught trying to take some of her clothes a month or so ago, and he learned that a wool ski mask and dragon fire do not mix well." Slendy snickered at that. That was pretty ridiculous!!! She could see the pony now in her mind, running around screaming with a flaming face. Her snickers became full on laughter at that image. As Slendy laughed, Spike suddenly realized something very important. Since she had come to him as an admirer in love, shouldn't he at least treat her out on a date and see what happens? He inwardly gulped at the thought of this. He still loved Rarity, right? He thought about it, and let out a deep breathe. It wouldn't have worked out with him and Rarity. She wasn't into dragons, or him. Guess it was time to let that silly crush go, and try to find love somewhere else. Maybe a date with this mare would help him find it. HIs decision made, Spike gulped, and nervously said, "S-Slendy?? Would you like to go on a date with me?" Slendy squealed in excitement, and said, "Yesyesyes!!" She stopped, and took in a deep breathe to calm herself, before continuing. "I mean, I would love to go on a date with you." Spike smiled at her excitement, and said, "Great!! Is tomorrow at 5 good?" Slendy quickly nodded, making her look like a bobble head doll. "That's perfect!!" She wrapped her fore hooves around him in a hug as she sat down, making it easier for her to hug him. Spike had grown over the past few months after turning 18, making him as tall as Applejack's brother Big Mac, but he had discovered that there were still a few ponies who were taller than him. Mainly, Celestia. It turned out that Slendy was taller than him as well, so when she hugged him, his head was just below her chin. After a few seconds, she let go of him. She got up before turning around, and walking into the shadows before stopping. Turning her head to face him, she said, "See you here at 5!!" With that, she left in the shadows, leaving Spike alone in the library. Spike stared at where she had left for a few minutes, before shaking his head and turning to the kitchen, saying, "What the heck just happened??!" He knew what had happened, but he needed a snack while he collected his thoughts, and got ready for his date.
