> Detective Rarity Volume 1 > by EquestriaGirls > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > Chapter I > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Chapter 1 Detective Rarity was running a hand through her purple hair. Her purple eyes glared a hole through the person she was interrogating. Sadly to say, the person wasn't going to break anytime soon. "You're wasting my time, you scoundrel. Answer my questions, or I'll pop a bullet in your head myself." Rarity says coldly. This merely made the suspect smirk. "Do it. You'll never get any answers from me." The woman says, revealing her voice to Rarity. Rarity gave a start at finally hearing her voice. "What the hell is this? I thought that you were mute. Maybe I can hear you scream." Rarity says, pulling out her gun. She aimed it at the woman's knee and the suspect gave a shocked squeal. "W-What are you doing? You just can't shoot me?!" The woman says, pressing a button on her phone, unknowingly to Rarity. "The station don't care what I do. They let me, "Ruthless Beast" out. That's never a good thing. That means they really need this case solved." Rarity tells the woman. She prepared to shoot the woman and a bomb suddenly went off, not shocking Rarity. The woman gave a shocked gasped at Rarity's uncaring nature. Rarity's arm had burns on it, but she shot the woman anyway. With a crazed laughed, Rarity then realized that she had solved the case without letting the dead suspect know. "Stupid woman, I knew what were your intentions were." Rarity says, walking out of thr exploding building. When she had walked out of the building, a police truck had pulled up. "Have you done it?" The man asked. Rarity smirked and the man nodded. Rarity got in the truck and the man drove her to the office. "The suspect had a bomb?" The man asked Rarity. "Yeah. She activated the bomb before I shot her. The woman thought that I would've been screaming in pain, but I could handle it." Rarity tells the man. The man nodded while he wrote down what she had said. "I won't be arrested, will I?" Rarity asked. The man coughed a bit. "No, you're the best detective we have. We need you on every case and besides, the court is just going to let you go after a month after you've been arrested." The man tells Rarity. Rarity smiled at this. "The court does pay for your property damage." The man added. Rarity smirked. "How much was it this time, Mr. Mayor?" Rarity asked. "3,000 bits it was, Miss Rarity." The Mayor of the city tells Rarity. Rarity whistled at the increase in the amount of money. When the truck stopped at their destination, Rarity thought about ditching the place, but when she saw her boss's car, she thought of it no longer. "I can't believe I actually stayed here." Rarity says, shuddering. Rarity was in a room with her boss, Sunset Shimmer. Her personal maid was Starlight Glimmer, who was now serving tea to the both of them. Sunset gently pats Starlight's shoulder to alert her of almost overflowing tea. Starlight yelped as she looked at Sunset with lowered eyes. Sunset smiled at Starlight. "You're not the only one. But, the tense air was making her nervous." Sunset explained to Rarity and the woman understood. "Sorry dearie, but can we talk in private?" Rarity asked Sunset Shimmer. "Yeah, I have something to discuss to with you, anyway. Starlight, please take a break outside and close the door." Sunset tells Starlight. Starlight nodded and she mutely followed Sunset Shimmer's orders. "What did you want to discuss?" Rarity asked with curiosity in her voice. Sunset Shimmer smiled at Rarity's question. "I know you prefer to work alone, but I assigned a freshly graduated student to be your assistant like how Starlight Glimmer is my maid." Sunset Shimmer tells Rarity, waiting on the explosion to happen. And then, BOOM! "What the hell? Sunset Shimmer! You know that I can't do that!" Rarity shouted. This explosion lasted for a hour. After the hour passed, Rarity was calmed somewhat. "I'm calm." Rarity says in a suppressed voice. Sunset shook her head. "You're still angry despite your words." Sunset says, making Rarity almost explode again. She then sighed, trying to call her nerves. "That was Explosion #1,000. Geez, you need chill pills, literally." Sunset tells Rarity. Rarity's eye twitched at the insult and she thought about drinking apple cider mixed with alcohol when she gets home. "You know I enjoy working all by myself, right?" Rarity asked. Sunset Shimmer looked up with a serious look on her face. "Yes, but you need human morals and being accompanied by a newbie will help that." Sunset says with a thoughtful look on her face. Rarity gasped with extreme anger. "Being with a inexperience child will NOT make me nicer." Rarity challenged Sunset. Sunset smiled. "You say that, but I think you might change your mind." Sunset Shimmer tells Rarity. Rarity rolled her eyes. Keep telling yourself that. Rarity had thought. > Chapter II > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Chapter 2 Rarity was about to explode again, when Sunset Shimmer reassured that her supposed partner knew all of the police rules and Sunset may have left out a bit of information about the girl. Okay, she will admit, she purposely didn't tell Rarity what type of girl she was to get Rarity to figure that out herself. "Rarity's a detective. She'll find out for herself." She had told Starlight when the girl had voiced her opinion. "Miss Pommel! Come in here please!" Sunset Shimmer had shouted. Said girl's full name was Coco Pummel and she was the newly graduate. Coco timidly walked into Sunset Shimmer's office. Rarity looked to see what she had looked like and Rarity snarled at Sunset. "You're giving me a child who is scared and timid?!" Rarity shouted at her boss, which scared Coco even more. She has heard rumors about the "Ruthless Beast" and she was now seeing her for the very first time in person. She started to tremble and whimper. Sunset frowned at this and she glared at Rarity. "Something's telling me you're just heartless." Sunset hissed at Rarity. When Rarity finally registered what Sunset had said, she had frozen up. Rarity's lip shook a bit, but Rarity didn't show that she was hurt by her boss's words. Something broke in Rarity and her anger immediately disappeared. She walked out of the office without saying anything. Coco Pummel knew that her new superior was now Rarity and she ran to at least try to comfort her. When she couldn't find the purple haired woman, she panicked. Suddenly, a gentle grip was on her wrist. Coco struggled a bit before a familiar voice reached her ears. "Wait, wait, I won't hurt you. I'm your new superior, Rarity." Rarity tells Coco sweetly. Coco looked at Rarity and she could see that the woman was trying to suppress an emotion from showing. She didn't know which emotion, though. When Rarity saw that Coco had calmed down, Rarity released her wrist. "Sorry for scaring you, but you were walking around like scared prey and if you had gotten lost here..." Rarity shook her head, not finishing her sentence. Coco was glad that Rarity didn't finish, she was sure that Rarity was going to say something bad was going to happen to her. Rarity looked down at the girl and she wondered how old was she. She looks young. She had thought. "How old are you?" Rarity had to know. "Oh, um, 19 years old." Coco answered quietly. Rarity looked at Coco in shock, but she didn't question how and why. It wasn't her business and she wasn't a nosy person. She thought those type of people caused all kinds of trouble. Nosy people are killed because they want all of the information. But, innocent people gets killed because of this too. When Rarity looks at Coco, all she sees is a innocent girl. Rarity doesn't like the situation, but she'll try to be a nice person to her new sidekick. "What kind of cases do you want to start with?" Rarity asked. Coco thought about the question. As a newbie, she guess she could try bank robbers. "How about bank robbers?" Coco suggested to her superior. Rarity then thought about it. She knew bank robbers were basic to her, but they could get dangerous in certain situations. "Bank robbers are fine, although you'll still need to be careful. You may never know what would happen." Rarity tells Coco. Coco nodded her head at the advice and she felt around in her pockets for her badge. When she couldn't find it, she started sweating. Rarity knew why she was sweating. Rarity was given Coco's badge, unless they took it from her when she actually had it. Rarity gave Coco her badge. "How did it-? I had it with me earlier." Coco says, frowning. Rarity had to look up because it looked like Coco was pouting. Rarity knew that she was frowning but still. "Maybe they had someone take it when you were doing something else." Rarity suggested. Coco looked at Rarity with hurt eyes. "But, that means I'm irresponsible." Coco says, making Rarity gently grip her shoulders. "Relax. Take a deep breath and relax. Don't worry about it. It's the procedure, even though I don't agree with it. They did everyone like this when they were new. Hell, they even did it to me. However they won't do it now." Rarity tells Coco. Coco looked at Rarity in shock. "They got you as well?" Rarity couldn't help but to not be rude and mean towards Coco. "Yes and it was funny too." Rarity says, smiling at Coco. "Now, what about those bank robbers?" Rarity asked, making Coco nervous. "What about Canterlot?" Coco had asked. > Chapter III > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Chapter 3 "You want to start with one of the most dangerous places?" Rarity asked Coco with concern in her voice. The blue-haired girl didn't think about that and she really felt embarrassed. "Oh well, I don't want you to get hurt, but we can go." Rarity says, seeing how hurt Coco was. Coco's eyes brightened and she smiled at Rarity. Rarity smiled back and she realized that Coco had unknowingly charmed her into being her big sister figure. Damn it, Sunset! You knew this would've happened. Rarity thought, making herself inwardly frown at her boss. She then just inwardly shrugged. "So, ready to go?" Rarity asked Coco. Coco then smiled and she nodded her head. "Yes, I want to prove myself." Coco answered with confidence in her voice. Rarity smiled at this and she thought that Coco was fine even though she hasn't been on a case yet. You have already proven yourself by being my assistant. Anyone else would have quit. Rarity thought. Rarity watched Coco and suddenly she thought about Sweetie Belle. Rarity immediately cleared her head of any thoughts about her. "Alright." Rarity's voice made Coco forget that she was there. Coco looked at Rarity and she realized that Rarity had been quiet for a while. "Um, Miss Rarity, are you alright?" Coco asked her superior. The light gray woman then looked at her inferior with warm eyes. "Yes, I am...fine. I am just in need of a drink." Rarity admitted. Coco then thought about something. "Do you want me to get you something?" Coco asked. Rarity smiled, knowing that she would have to explain. "You're too young to drink what I drink." Rarity says, patting Coco's head. The off white girl didn't understand until Rarity told her that she was talking about alcohol. "Oh, yeah, adults drink that." Coco had whispered. "If you like, I can get you apple cider." Rarity offered to Coco. Coco smiled at Rarity's offer. "If you wouldn't mind." Coco says, shyly, making Rarity smile at her. When shw hears something strange, she told Coco to go hide somewhere. Coco obeyed and a woman appeared out of the shadows. "Who are you?" Rarity questioned. Coco didn't sense anyone behind her and that was her fatal flaw. She was suddenly grabbed from behind and she started to struggle. "Don't struggle. I won't hurt you. We just need you to ensure her cooperation." The woman tells Coco. Coco was scared, despite the woman's words. Coco stopped struggling and the woman just pat her on her head. Coco watched Rarity's conversation. "I'm someone you should show very well." A very dark voice made Rarity growl. She did know the voice and she was hoping to never hear or see the person ever again. Damn! I wasn't expecting to see her here in Canterlot. I hope she doesn't hurt Coco. Rarity thought. The person in front of her was Suri Polomare, a very murderous robber and serial killer. "Damn you, Polomare." Rarity hissed at the woman. The woman smirked. "If I were you, I should be more worried about your little cute assistant." At this, Rarity gave a shocked scream. "Coco! Where is she, you damn psycho?" Rarity demanded of the criminal. The woman still had a smirk on her face. "My new partner-in-crime has her. But, don't worry. She is a hostage as well." Suri admitted, making Rarity angry. "You kidnapped someone and you're making that someone hold Coco hostage? You really are vile!" Rarity shouted at the woman. Suri's amused look turned murderous. "Don't tempt me to skin her alive." Suri threatened. Rarity growled. All I did to Suri was beat her in a fashion show. Why would she commit horrendous crimes like these? Rarity wondered. The woman told her hostage to show Coco hostage. Rarity couldn't act cold when Coco had tears streaming down her face. Rarity felt bad for Coco. The girl was in danger for the very first time. Actually, it really wasn't the very first time Coco was in danger*. Suri's hostage felt really bad for the girl and she released her. "Go! Go to safety!" The woman shouted at Coco. Coco obeyed the woman and Rarity ran to get her before Suri moved an inch. Suri growled at her hostage and she turned to her. "I should've just killed you when I had the fucking chance!" Suri had shouted at the woman.
