"The Irony Of An Immortal's Death"

Every-being on the ethereal plane could feel it coming.
The whirlwind of destruction, the hurricane without an eye and the cacophony of chaos known as Discord.
It's a shame that only one being lived on the ethereal plane anymore.

"This place could use a dusting every once a while, Harmony, one might think you were a bad host" stated the Chimeric lord.
Discord looked around the empty plane to try and find its elusive inhabitant but with no luck.

"Come on, Harms, I am in no mood for a game of hide and seek. You know I will find you eventually." Discords voice echoed infinitely onward.

With no reaction to his call; Discord snapped his claws and enhanced his magical senses, to assist him with his search, and flapped his translucent wings to bring further into the empty landscape.

After what Discord had assumed to be a few hours, it was hard to tell in what was essentially a void and Discord had never been good at telling time anyway, Discord gave up on his search and decided to use his magic to draw in any entities in the void towards him; it wasn't as though that there were many to begin with.
After what felt like an eternity to the chaos god, an entity was able to be seen on the horizon.

Discord let out a grin that accentuated his fang and floated towards the figure.

"Harmony, old gal, it is nice to see you in your proper form and not as the tree made out of rocks" Discord says with grin.

"What do you want Chaos?" Harmony responds without even glancing back to Discord.

"You know that isn't my name, Harmony, or should I refer to you to by your true name?" Discord says while his grin drops.

"Very well, Discord, I shall keep to this new alias that you have acquired. Now back to my original question, what do you want?" Harmony says while turning to face the chimera.

"Why, I merely came to have a chat. I thought that after being cooped in here for so long you would have loved the opportunity to converse with another." Discord responds while indicating to the rest of the void that they were both floating within.

"The day that I believe that you came to merely do something is the day that I allow the world to fall to your endless onslaught of Chaos." Harmony sniped back

"Harmony, I am offended" Discord stated while bringing his claw to his chest "you should know through your own apostles that I have become your number one fan."
Discord summoned in his team jersey and foam hand to prove it.

"I have been watching your progress, Discord, I am surprised to agree with you to an extent. When I sensed Sol come up with the idea of reforming you, I thought you had managed to corrupt her like her sister previously." Harmony said with indifference.

Suddenly the air around the two immortals felt constricted and in a serious tone Discord states "I had nothing to do with that mare's corruption. And You know it."

"There he is, behind that mask of Discord, Chaos lurks. I am not surprised you hide after everything you did" Harmony says with a cruel grin.

Looking at Harmony with a death stare, Discord responds "I thought I asked you not to refer to me as that Balance and had you forgotten about the mask you hide behind? At least mine is my own. Have you heard of letting the dead lie?"

A powerful gust of wind rockets throughout the plane, powerful enough to knock any being over if they were physical but not effecting the two gods conversing.

"DON'T YOU DARE MENTION HER!" Harmony roars at Discord.

As the grin creeps back onto Discords face, he says in a joking tone "Oh I am so sorry, Harmony, I honestly didn't mean to rile you up. And I truly came to talk to you about something."

While Harmony was trying to contain her rage at Discord, his statement of honestly having a query honestly piqued her.

"What is it then beast?" Harmony questioned.

"A new pantheon has started." Discord states while filing his claws.

"What are you on about? You are making less sense than usual, Discord. Pantheons consists of Gods and you made sure that we were the last of them." Harmony stated in a fluster.

" I mean, there could be new gods if we got it on but with that look of disgust on your face I can't imagine so.
Have you not been watching the mortals, harmony? Four have ascended to Alicorns and more immortals roam. Since I have been released from stone, I have counted counted 26 in total." Discord Lectured.

Harmony's face recoiled in disgust at the first implication and then said "You are correct in assuming that I would prefer to drink out of the River Styx then let you mate with me. But you know as well as me that being immortal makes you no god, their power levels couldn't rival the weakest of us."

"The elder Alicorns are gods, Harmony, they rule the heavens themselves, and they are training two others to be as powerful. You must somewhat remember the balance of everything as well, the stronger they get the more powerful the enemies get. I also assume that Twilight will not abandon her friends to the Underworld so presumably they will gain Immortality as well. Admit it, the pantheon rises again." Discord lectured again.

Harmony processed all of this information and with a sigh simply stated "They are doomed then."

Discord looked at Harmony with a quizzical look and asked "I thought you would have been happy about the news. You enjoy maintaining the status quo don't you?"

"They will fall, Chaos. I don't care if you hate the name. It is the name you deserve. You destroyed the gods in our prime, you and that bloody Order. And you forced me to choose a side then, YOU FORCED Balance TO CHOOSE A SIDE! You started a war and forced everyone to fight. You loved its Chaos didn't you? You reveled in it! The amount of power you were operating with was immeasurable enough, it was enough to kill a god. Scratch that, it was enough to slaughter numerous gods. But for every enemy god you obliterated, I had to give Order enough power to kill one of yours. Balance had to be preserved. I killed so many of my friends and I had to watch my sister shrivel up because harmony between the gods was non existent. You destroyed our pantheon and you will destroy theirs, Chaos.

Discord watched with lethal silence as Harmony vented her anger towards him and when she finished he talked with the gentlest voice he could manage.
"Yes, I was Chaos. I was the most powerful entity in that battle and I forced you to give me power to assisting in the death of him. But with his death, I broke. The Gods always had their counterparts and I was the first instance ever to destroy mine but I felt something in me break when I struck him down. I felt like a ghost yet I was alive, the majority of strength I received from Chaos left me a hollow shell. I was the weakest of the gods, a spirit of what Chaos truly was. I felt what I managed to achieve through the deaths of my brethren and that was less than nothing. I became Discord that day and I refused to ever kill again. This pantheon will not fall due to my actions."

Harmony gawked at Discord, mainly for the sincerity in his tone, and said "I trust you. I have no reason too but I do. But what do you want to do then? Do we leave them alone? Do we invite them here? We need to do something to ensure their success."

Discord gives harmony a small grin and says "we teach them the lessons we learned the hard way."
