Love shines like Christmas lights

Sunset sat in the little café outside the park, sipping her hot chocolate. She looked out the window and watched as the snowflakes slowly fell to the ground. It was a cold December evening, but Sunset enjoyed the cold, and so did the person she was waiting on. She glanced over at the hot chocolate sitting across from her in front of the empty seat, the hot chocolate that was for her best friend, Adagio Dazzle.

After the Battle of the Bands, the sirens practically confined themselves to their house, only leaving for groceries. On one of those grocery runs, Adagio had run into Sunset on her way home. Sunset immediately asked how they were doing, which Adagio replied with anger and sadness. The conversation was short, and Sunset didn't get to express that she wanted to help them. Later on she got her chance, when she saw Adagio once again on a grocery run. This time when Sunset asked how they were doing, Adagio broke down in tears. Sunset led her to her car, so they could be alone, and tried to comfort her. Adagio explained that their lives were terrible, and with that Sunset got to express how much she wanted to help them and be their friend. Adagio excepted her offer, and soon so did Aria and Sonata. With Sunset's help, the Dazzlings pieced their lives together. Aria and Sonata stopped being at each others throats, and soon discovered that they actually loved each others company. Sunset and Adagio had formed a close bond as well, even closer than Aria and Sonata. Sunset had kept all of this as a secret from her friends, as she didn't know how they would react to it. What Sunset had also kept a secret was that she had fallen in love with Adagio. Over the time she was helping the three of them, she discovered that she cared for the reformed siren very deeply, but never knew how to tell her. Two days ago Sunset asked Adagio if she would want to walk through the park, and look at all the different Christmas lights throughout it. Adagio agreed to go, and Sunset knew it was time to tell her the truth.

Sunset heard the door of the café open, and smiled when Adagio walked in. She waved at her to get her attention, and when Adagio noticed, she walked over.

"Hey Adagio," Sunset said with a smile.

"Hey Sunset, I hope I didn't make you wait to long," Adagio replied back to her with a smile.

"No not at all. I ordered you a hot chocolate just incase you was thirsty," Sunset said to her as Adagio sat down.

"Thank you," she said, taking a sip of it. "It's a lovely evening tonight."

"Yeah, it definitely is," Sunset replied back to her. She looked out into the snowy night, and then looked back to Adagio. The evening may have been lovely, but she thought about how it didn't compare to how lovely Adagio was.

"Want to start our little adventure?" Adagio asked with her famous smirk.

"If your ready, I'm ready," Sunset responded as the two of them got up and left the café. They made their way into the park, and was immediately greeted by several bright Christmas lights. They admired the different colors and shapes the lights took.

"I've never stopped to look at how creative some of these lights could get," Adagio stated, walking onward down the path.

"It's amazing how some people have fashioned these lights to create something spectacular and pretty," Sunset said to her with her usual warm smile.

Adagio watched as Sunset walked over and got a closer look at one of the lights. Her face got warm from a blush when she looked at Sunset's smiling face. Adagio had also been hiding her feelings from Sunset. Adagio had loved that girl ever since they created their close bond. She wanted to tell her, but never knew when to or how. Adagio cherished the friendship they had, and she didn't want it to be broken by her wanting them to be more than just friends. But Adagio knew that tonight was the night, the night she came clean about how she felt.

Sunset walked back over to Adagio, and they continued down the path. They passed many different light creations, many of which they took turns commenting on. Neither of them noticed, but they slowly got closer to each other as they walked.

When they got to the part that had lights recreating different foods, Adagio pointed to the bacon one. "That one reminds me of your hair," she said with a joking smile.

"Very funny," Sunset replied with a sarcastic tone.

"I'm just kidding Sunset, I like your hair just how it is," Adagio said as she stroked the side of it.

Sunset blushed slightly at the contact from Adagio. "Thank you."

"Your welcome," Adagio replied as they made their way further down the path. They soon came upon the singing portion of the tour. The different lighted trees blinked in sync to the music that played. The two of them stood and watched the show with smiles. Adagio noticed Sunset rubbing her hands together quickly.

"Yours hand cold?" Adagio asked.

"Just my right hand. Apparently this glove isn't as good as the other one," Sunset replied back to her, putting her hands back down at her side.

Adagio gently put her hand in Sunset's, intertwining their fingers together. "Feel warmer?"

"Y-yes, thank you," Sunset said, trying to hide her blush. The two watched and listened to the rest of the songs, then made their way down the path, hands still together. They eventually made it to a bridge, there they stopped and leaned against the railing. The two of them both looked out over the water and admired the view. All the lights in the park reflected in the lake, making a stunning masterpiece to behold.

"The lights are beautiful," Sunset said in awe.

"Yes, they are. But they're not as beautiful as you," Adagio said to her.

Sunset blushed when she heard what she said. Before she could say anything back, Adagio spoke up again. "The lights here are very beautiful, but none of them are as beautiful as you Sunset."

"You mean it?" Sunset asked.

"Yes, I do. Your the most beautiful person I've ever met. And your also the kindest person I know. You went out of your way to help the three of us, even after what we did to you and your friends. You've shown me a new side to life, and I'm eternally grateful for that. And through spending time with you, I've grown to care a lot about you." She paused for a second before continuing. "What I want to tell you is...I love you Sunset."

"I...I love you too Adagio," Sunset responded after a couple seconds of silence.

"You do?" Adagio asked with hope.

"Yes, I love you so much Adagio."

Adagio brought her hand up to Sunset's face, placing it on her cheek. She then leaned forward and kissed her. Sunset wrapped her arms around Adagio's neck, bringing her closer as they kissed. Snow slowly fell as the two locked lips. They both pulled away to breath, but quickly went back to kissing.

"I love you," Sunset lovingly said after the second kiss.

"I love you too," Adagio responded back. The two looked back at the lights, then moved on down the path. They both put their arms around each other, lovingly smiling into each others eyes. With one last sweet kiss, they walked out of the park and towards Sunset's car.
