Sonata has begun to have some issues with sleeping, due to things happening at night, either storms or nightmares, and decides to seek help from one of her older sisters.

Sonata Dusk has never had problems with sleeping before, she's always been able to go to bed and sleep soundly all night, but suddenly, she's having trouble with sleeping. Sometimes a thunderstorm will keep her awake all night because she's scared to go to bed, or, a nightmare will awaken her from a deep sleep and then she once again is scared to go back to sleep. What will Sonata do and how is she even going to be able to sleep soundly at nighttime again?

Night One - Thunderstorm

View Online

It was around 12:00 at night, the household that belonged to the Dazzling's, and former sirens, was quiet, except for the whimpers of fear that came from the youngest Dazzling, Sonata Dusk's room whenever a clap of thunder or flash of lightning went off above the house. She was really scared and knew she wouldn't be able to go to sleep on her own, she knew she was going to have to ask one of her older sisters for help, but, she already knew who she would ask. She wasn't even going to bother asking her oldest sister Adagio Dazzle, who had decided to stop caring about Sonata's actions or feelings around three months earlier. Sonata was going to ask her older and very protective sister Aria Blaze, who had grown close to her over the past few months. She knew her sister would be asleep, but she had gotten used to having to wake Aria up, she'd done it a couple times before, once due to a storm and the other due to not being able to sleep because of something Adagio had watched on TV.

She quietly and quickly got out of her bed, exited her bedroom and walked down the hall towards her older sister's rooms, she stopped outside Aria's bedroom door, which was open slightly, and looked across the hall at Adagio's closed bedroom door. She knew Adagio usually locked her door at night now, because she'd quickly grown tired of Sonata coming to ask her if she could sleep with her. Sonata took a deep breath, jumped slightly when a clap of thunder went off above the house and then quietly opened Aria's bedroom door wide enough so she could fit through, careful as to not make the door creak open. Once she was in her sister's room, she closed the door and walked over to the bed quietly, Aria was sleeping on her right side with her back to Sonata, so Sonata walked around to the left side of the bed, knelt beside it and gently began to shake her older sister to wake her up.

"Ari." Sonata whispered to her sister.

"What?" Aria asked sleepily, opening one eye slightly to see who was waking her, she only asked her question when she saw that it was Sonata.

"I can't sleep." Sonata answered, feeling slightly ashamed for waking her sister up.

"Why can't you sleep Sonata?" Aria asked again slowly, careful not to put a lot of pressure on Sonata because of her anxiety.

"The storm outside." Sonata answered as she pointed to the window above Aria's bed and outside at the storm.

"Oh, I see. It's ok, it won't hurt you." Aria softly said to Sonata once she saw what her younger and clearly frazzled sister was pointing at.

"ARI!" Sonata exclaimed slightly louder than she'd meant to when a clap of thunder and flash of lightning went off almost at once above the house, she crawled onto the bed and huddled up to Aria and began to shake.

"Hey, you're alright Sonata. I'm right here, you don't have to be scared anymore, it'll be ok." Aria softly reassured Sonata as she rubbed her sister's back gently to try and soothe her.

"I know. It's just scary for me, I've always feared it." Sonata explained to Aria.

"I know, don't worry, I know why and I feel bad because you shouldn't have to fear it." Aria softly whispered to her to let Sonata know that it was ok that she was scared and that she knew why it was scary for her.

"C-Can I sleep here tonight?" Sonata asked Aria as she continued to shake and huddle up to her older sister.

"Yeah you can." Aria answered softly.

"Really?!" Sonata exclaimed, slightly confused with why Aria was letting her sleep with her.

"Yeah, you're scared and you don't feel like being alone because you're scared, I get that so you can sleep with me if it'll make you feel better." Aria explained quietly to her sister, brushing a strand of hair out of Sonata's eyes as she did so.

"Oh, well, thanks Ari." Sonata replied, still confused but understood why Aria was letting her sleep with her at least.

"No problem." Aria said, she looked up at the window when another clap of thunder and flash of lightning went off that scared Sonata and slowly reached up and closed the curtain to the window so Sonata wouldn't be able to see the flashes of light.

Once that was done, Aria gently pulled the covers out from under Sonata and put them on top of her frazzled younger sister. When she did this, Sonata immediately moved over and cuddled up with Aria again, Aria didn't really care though, she was used to Sonata cuddling up to her when she was cold or scared of something. It was kind of like Sonata's way of saying that she felt safe, or that she felt safer when she huddled close to Aria, once Sonata had gotten herself comfortable in Aria's bed and they'd said goodnight to each other, Sonata drifted off to sleep and Aria did the same. Aria kept her left arm wrapped gently around Sonata's torso and kept her close to her, so Sonata wouldn't freak out. This was how they remained for the rest of the night.

Night Two - Too Scared

View Online

It was 10:30 at night, Sonata laid awake in her bed and stared at her dark ceiling. Aria had just put her to bed fifteen minutes before and said she'd just be downstairs if Sonata needed anything. Adagio had been watching a scary movie earlier in the day with Aria and Sonata had been in the room playing with some of her toys and had been listening to the movie and had occasionally looked up to watch the TV every few minutes to see what was going on. Aria had warned her not to and that she knew what would happen and she said she'd be fine, but now Sonata regretted looking at the TV because now she was scared to go to sleep. She'd heard Adagio come upstairs a few minutes before, but she hadn't heard Aria come upstairs yet, so she guessed that her older sister was still downstairs, either playing on her phone or watching something on the TV. Aria never went to bed until like 11:00 or 11:30 at night anyways.

Sonata tried to fall asleep by distracting herself with the bracelet on her side dresser, it wasn't helping though, she was still thinking about the scary things she'd seen in the scary movie. She finally made the decision to go downstairs and see Aria, because she knew Adagio would just laugh at her and tell her she was just being silly and overthinking and then would tell her to go back to her room and go to bed. Sonata quietly got out of her bed, walked to her closed bedroom door and opened it and peeked out to see if Adagio was in the hallway or not. When Sonata saw no signs of Adagio in the hallway, she walked quickly to the stairs, looked behind her to check if Adagio was there and then walked quickly and quietly down the stairs. She walked down the hall to the living room and peeked around the corner to see if Aria was in the living room, Aria was lounging on the couch looking at something on her phone and was lounging so she wasn't facing Sonata. Sonata got down on her knees and quietly crawled towards the couch, when she got to the couch, she stood up on her knees and gently grabbed Aria's left arm to get her attention.

"Hey Nata. What are you doing up? I put you to bed twenty minutes ago." Aria asked Sonata when she saw her younger sister after looking to see who wanted her.

"I can't sleep Ari." Sonata explained to Aria quietly.

"Why not? There's no storm outside tonight. You were fine when I put you to bed." Aria asked her again slowly, so she wouldn't pressure Sonata to much.

"I'm just scared." Sonata answered, glancing at Aria's phone to see what Aria was looking at.

"You're scared because of the movie Adagio and I watched aren't you." Aria said to Sonata softly, reaching over to play with a strand of her hair.

"Yeah." Sonata replied.

"I told you not to watch it, you know what happens." Aria explained to Sonata, giving her younger sister a slightly firmer look to show her that she should've listened to her and that she now had to deal with the consequences.

"I know. I'm sorry Ari." Sonata admitted quietly, looking away from Aria slightly when she got Aria's "I told you so" look. She never liked getting that look because whenever she got it from Adagio she got into a bunch of trouble, she thought Aria would do the same.

"It's ok. I'm just surprised you didn't come down here sooner to get me." Aria said to Sonata, softening her gaze and smiling at her sister.

"Well, I was going to, then Adagio came upstairs so I waited until I heard her bedroom door shut and for a few minutes after so I wouldn't get in trouble for not being in bed." Sonata explained, smiling at her sister.

"Well you did a pretty good job of that, usually she doesn't go to bed until like 12:00, she just goes to her room for peace and quiet as she puts it, but she actually goes there to watch Netflix on her TV." Aria said to Sonata.

"Well, I went quietly." Sonata explained again.

"Ahh, that's why." Aria replied.

"But still, I can't sleep so I was wondering if..." Sonata stopped when Aria sat up on the couch, set her phone on the side table by the couch and plugged it in and then looked at her with a look that Sonata couldn't quite figure out what it meant.

"If you can sleep with me? And you know this is the second night in a row that you've had trouble sleeping, right?" Aria asked as she finished her sister's sentence to what she thought her sister would say and explained to her that now she'd had trouble sleeping on her own for a second straight night.

"Yeah." Sonata answered cautiously.

"Yes, you can. I was going to head up there now so you can come with me and wait in my room while I get ready, all I have to do is put my pajamas on and brush my teeth and then I'll be ready for bed." Aria explained to Sonata as she stood up and began walking towards the hallway that lead out of the living room and to the stairs or kitchen.

"Um, ok." Sonata said as she hesitantly stood up and took a cautious step towards her older sister, who was walking towards the hall.

"What is it?" Aria asked when she turned to see if Sonata was following her and saw her younger sister standing by the couch with a nervous look on her face, she walked back over to her and put her hand on her sister's back.

"I-I just don't want to get in trouble, what if Adagio comes out of her room and sees me in your room while you're changing and brushing your teeth?" Sonata asked Aria, explaining to her sister why she was nervous to go upstairs to Aria's room.

"You won't get in trouble, I'll shut the door while I'm in the bathroom so she won't see you if she comes out of her room, ok." Aria softly explained to Sonata, she rubbed her sister's back gently and gently hugged her once Sonata accepted and allowed her to.

Sonata only liked hugs if she gave the hug first, or if the person who was giving her the hug waited for her to accept, if she did, and then allowed her to be done with the hug when she began to grow uncomfortable with the small space, since she was claustrophobic and feared small spaces as well as had anxiety.

"Ok, that works I guess, but what if I get scared because the door's closed." Sonata said after she'd let Aria hug her for a minute and then pushed away because she was getting uncomfortable.

"You like making things difficult don't you." Aria exclaimed, chuckling to herself.

"Well, I just don't want to get scared or get in trouble." Sonata replied, laughing slightly at what Aria had said.

"Well neither of those things will happen, one because I'm going to have the door closed so Adagio won't be able to see you if she comes out of her room at all, which I doubt she will, and two, I'll leave the light on while I'm gone and I'm only going to be gone for like five minutes and will just be down the hall if you decide you don't want to be alone." Aria softly explained to her sister as she began to walk down the hall, allowing Sonata to hold her hand while she did.

"Ok, I trust you." Sonata replied as she took a deep breath to calm herself down as she followed Aria down the hall and up the stairs.

Aria led Sonata to her room and walked inside after opening the door, when the door opened, she turned on the light and Sonata went to sit on Aria's bed. She watched as her older sister got her pajamas out of her dresser and pulled out her pigtails and set her star-shaped berets on the dresser top. Aria then grabbed her hairbrush and turned and walked over to her bed where Sonata was still watching her curiously.

"Ok, I'll be right back ok. You stay here and I'll shut the door and if you get scared, just walk quietly down the hall to the bathroom and knock on the door ok." Aria explained to Sonata, kneeling on the floor so she was at eye level with her younger sister.

"Ok." Sonata said, she watched Aria leave and shut the door behind her.

When Aria was gone, Sonata laid down on her sister's bed and looked up at her sister's ceiling, she knew Aria wouldn't care if she found something to play with in her room but Sonata knew better than to go through her sister's things, because she knew it was rude. She twiddled with her thumbs for a little bit and then sat up and looked around her older sister's room at some of the things her sister had in her room. Down the hall, Aria was just about done doing her night time things and was almost ready to head back to her room and crawl into bed, with Sonata of course. She was just thinking about how she'd write in her secret diary with her sister in the room, she could write in it after her sister fell asleep but knew her sister would probably wake up when she felt her sister move or when she heard her lamp on her bedside table switch on. Aria grabbed her dirty clothes and her hairbrush, unlocked the bathroom door and headed down the hall back to her room. When she entered her room, she saw her sister laying on her bed looking at something on her fingernails so she put her clothes away in her laundry hamper and walked over to set her hairbrush on her dresser before walking over to her bed.

"Ari!" Sonata exclaimed excitedly when she saw her sister standing at the foot of her bed, watching her with a smile on her face.

"Hey you little munchkin." Aria said as she crawled onto her bed and ruffled her sister's hair with her left hand.

"I love you Ari." Sonata said, reaching out to hug her older sister, who she loved dearly because she protected her from everything and was always there for her.

"Aww, I love you to Nata." Aria softly replied as she very gently hugged her little sister.

"You're always here for me and you always protect me." Sonata said, rubbing her face into Aria's left shoulder, an indication to Aria that she was tired and wanted to go to bed.

"Yeah, I am. You're tired aren't you." Aria said to her younger sister when she felt Sonata rub her face on her shoulder.

"Yeah." Sonata said, Aria heard the tired tone sneak into her voice.

"Alright then, we'll get comfortable and go to bed ok." Aria said as she stood up and began to pull the covers down, she let Sonata crawl under them before she crawled under them.

When Sonata was comfortable, she and Aria said their good nights to one another and Aria stayed awake until Sonata had drifted off to sleep. When Aria fell asleep, Sonata moved over and gently cuddled up to her by putting her arms around Aria's waist and resting her forehead on the base of Aria's neck and began to breathe down Aria's chest as she slept. Aria opened one eye to look at her and smiled slightly before closing her eye and drifting off to sleep, only opening her eyes when Sonata moved the position of one of her arms or her head, just to check on her and see if she was ok. When she made sure she was fine every time, she'd go back to sleep and they remained the way they were for the rest of the night.

Night Three - Because of What Adagio Seen

View Online

Sonata laid awake in her bed, it was 12:00 at night, the household was quiet, which told her that her sisters had also both gone to bed, but of course, once again, for the third straight night in a row, Sonata couldn't sleep. This time she couldn't sleep because Adagio had seen something on her social media about something bad that happened in another country and now she was scared that it might happen where she lived and she didn't want it to. She huddled up into a little ball on her bed and began to cry because she was scared, little did she know that Aria was and surprisingly still up and was just heading up the stairs to head to bed. She heard crying when she walked past Sonata's room and decided to check on her younger sister once she'd changed and had done her night time ritual.

When she was done getting changed and had brushed her teeth and her hair, she put her dirty clothes in her laundry basket and walked down the hall to her younger sister's room. She quietly opened her sister's door and peeked in, she saw her sister huddled in a ball on her bed crying, Aria quietly walked into her sister's room, closed the door behind her and quietly walked over to Sonata's bed to help calm her sister down.

"You ok Nata?" Aria asked as she sat down on her sister's bed next to her sister and looked over at her sister.

"No." Sonata answered as she reached out and wrapped her arms gently around her older and very protective sister's torso.

"What happened?" Aria asked again slowly so Sonata wouldn't get upset because of pressure.

"Nothing happened, I was just thinking." Sonata exclaimed.

"About what?" Aria softly asked, stroking her younger sister's hair to calm her down.

"What Adagio read earlier. It scared me because what if it happens to us." Sonata explained to Aria with a shaky voice, Aria gently rubbed her back and softly kissed her forehead to help her calm down.

"It won't happen to us, it happened all the way across the world." Aria reassured her sister softly, hearing the frightened tone of her voice almost immediately.

"But, it still scared me." Sonata said, hugging her sister more tightly.

"It's ok, I know you're scared. But I'm right here so you're fine." Aria explained softly to her sister as she continued to rub her back, understanding that her sister w as really scared when she tightened her grip around Aria's torso.

"Will you stay here with me tonight Ari?" Sonata asked cautiously.

"Sure. But this is the third night in a row, maybe we should get an appointment with your psychologist and see if she knows how to fix what's going on." Aria explained to her sister.

"No. I'm fine, I'm just really scared every night now for some reason." Sonata exclaimed.

"Ok. I'm not going to argue with you right now but you need to understand that this could become a problem if we don't figure out why you're doing it." Aria told her sister, slowly and softly so she wouldn't scare her.

"Ok Ari, I understand." Sonata said after she compensated what Aria had said to her for a minute.

"Ok now let's go to bed, it's late, I put you to bed two hours ago." Aria said as she pulled Sonata's covers out from under them and put them over top of the two of them.

"I know, I'm sorry Ari." Sonata quietly said, looking down because she thought her sister was getting mad at her.

"Hey, it's ok. I'm not mad. You should've come to get me like last night, I wouldn't have yelled at you." Aria softly explained when she saw her sister's expression.

"I know." Sonata replied without looking up to make eye contact with her sister.

"How about we go to bed ok, I'm here now so you're safe and I won't leave until you say so ok." Aria explained to her sister, slowly leaning over to kiss her cheek.

"Ok." Sonata said, huddling up to Aria and putting her legs in between Aria's and wrapping her arms around Aria's chest and rested her head just underneath Aria's right shoulder.

"Goodnight Nata." Aria whispered, smiling at how cute her sister was when she slept, or was getting ready to go to sleep.

"Night Ari." Sonata whispered back before they drifted into a deep sleep that they remained in for the rest of the night, except for when one of them switched their positions and the other opened one eye to see what they were doing.

Night Four - Nightmares

View Online

Sonata was upset and scared because it was 2:00 in the morning, but she'd maybe only slept for about an hour max because she kept having nightmares, every time she closed her eyes and drifted off to sleep, she got a new nightmare and she couldn't figure out what it was from. She had to guess it was from the scary movie she'd heard her sisters watching earlier, even though she hadn't been watching it, she'd still heard it and hadn't liked it. Sonata knew very well that she was going to have to go and get Aria and ask her for help because she wasn't going to be able to get back to sleep on her own and she knew that. She quietly got out of bed, walked over to her door and quietly opened it. She heard the sound of Adagio's TV coming from her oldest sister's room and knew she'd have to go really quietly, as to not draw Adagio's attention. Sonata quickly and quietly walked down the hall to Aria's room and entered without hesitation, opening and closing the door quietly so Adagio wouldn't hear it, she'd also closed her door so if Adagio woke up before her and Aria in the morning, she'd think Sonata was asleep in her room, since the doors were all usually closed at night when the girls slept. Sonata quickly walked over to Aria's bed, seeing that Aria was laying on her left side and facing her door as she walked over, she reached Aria's bed and quietly knelt down beside the bed and then reached out with her hands and gently shook her older sister.

"Sonata what's wrong this time?" Aria asked after she opened one eye to see who wanted her, knowing what it was most likely for when she saw Sonata in front of her.

"I keep having nightmares and can't sleep." Sonata explained to her sister as she tried to climb up on her bed.

"Ok, Sonata, I really think we need to schedule an appointment with your psychologist because this is now the fourth straight night you've had troubles sleeping and we need to figure out why." Aria explained softly to her sister, moving over so she could get on the bed.

"I know." Sonata said quietly, she didn't really want to go see her psychologist but she knew Aria was right and that it was what they needed to do in order to solve what was going on, or at least try and solve what was going on.

"Anyways, what do you keep having nightmares about?" Aria asked Sonata slowly, rubbing her shoulder to keep her calm.

"The scary movie you and Adagio were watching." Sonata answered, looking up at her sister and moving closer to her so she'd feel safe.

"But why? You weren't watching it." Aria said confusingly.

"I know but I could still hear it and now I think I'm trying to piece together in my head the picture of what was happening." Sonata explained calmly.

"That makes sense, you do have anxiety and your mind tends to do that a lot doesn't it." Aria softly said, allowing Sonata to cover herself up with the covers once Sonata had kind of gotten herself comfortable.

"Yeah." Sonata said, grabbing her sister's covers and pulling them over top of herself.

"Is Adagio's TV bugging you two because it's still on so she must still be up." Aria asked Sonata, she'd heard Adagio's TV on at 11:00 when she'd gone to bed and was kind of surprised her sister was still up.

"Not really, I didn't really know it was on until I came to get you." Sonata answered, turning to look towards Aria's door, listening to Adagio's TV.

"Well that's good then." Aria replied, glancing at the clock on her dresser beside her bed and seeing it was almost two thirty in the morning.

"Ari." Sonata said a few minutes later.

"Yes." Aria answered, looking at her sister.

"How come Adagio doesn't seem to understand the fact that I can't handle scary movies because of my anxiety?" Sonata asked, she'd been wanting to ask her sister this all day but had never gotten a chance to because Adagio'd always been around them.

"I don't really know, but it might have something to do with the fact that she was an only child and has really never been exposed to someone with anxiety as bad as yours and probably isn't used to it and doesn't get it." Aria answered, she herself did not know the exact answer so she gave her sister her opinion on why she thought Adagio didn't understand Sonata's anxiety.

"Do you think I should ask her tomorrow or not?" Sonata asked again.

"I think you could ask her, I don't see a problem with that, she might but just tell her you want to know why." Aria explained, glancing at the clock again, she wanted to go back to bed but she had to wait until Sonata was ready to go back to bed.

"When are you gonna get an appointment with my psychologist?" Sonata asked her sister again, she was kind of cautious about it because she knew her sister didn't really like lots of questions at one time.

"Well I'm going to call her tomorrow and see when she can get you in and then we will go from there." Aria answered again.

"Sorry for all these questions." Sonata said, giving Aria an apologetic look.

"It's fine, you just want to know and I'm not minding that." Aria explained, knowing her sister knew she hated lots of questions at once but it wasn't really bothering her because she knew her sister was only asking her these questions all at once because she wanted answers and was probably slightly worried about the things she was asking.

"Can we go to bed Ari?" Sonata asked, yawning as she slid down in Aria's bed and rested head on Aria's pillow.

"We sure can." Aria answered, doing the same thing as Sonata. Sonata moved over and gently rested head on the base of Aria's neck and began breathing down her chest.

"Night Ari." Sonata said before closing her eyes.

"Goodnight Sonata." Aria whispered, waiting until Sonata had drifted off into a deep sleep before she closed her eyes and fell asleep.

Night Five - Scared To Sleep

View Online

Aria exited the game she was playing and glanced at the clock on her phone to see the time, it was almost ten o' clock, which was her younger sister Sonata's bed time. Sonata was currently sitting on the floor playing with one of her little toy horses and Adagio was sitting in her reclining chair looking at something on her phone. Aria set her phone on the small side-table beside the couch and sat up, looking over at Sonata again and watched her play with her toy horse for a minute before standing up and stretching, Sonata looked up at her when she heard her older sister do this.

"Guess what time it is." Aria said to Sonata, smiling at her younger sister when her she noticed her sister looking at her. Aria was the regular one who put Sonata to bed because it seems that Aria's the only one of Sonata's older sisters that can actually get her to bed without her fussing about it.

"Bedtime for me." Sonata replied, standing up and beginning to walk towards the hallway where the stairs were.

"You bet." Aria said, following her sister to the hall and up the stairs.

They reached Sonata's room and went inside, Sonata handed Aria her toy horse while she grabbed her pajamas from her dresser drawer and went to the bathroom to change, Aria put Sonata's horse away and then waited for Sonata in her bedroom so she could tuck her in and tell her goodnight and actually put her to bed. Sonata came back a couple minutes after, her pj's on and her teeth brushed, she threw her dirty clothes in her laundry basket beside her dresser and then walked over to her bed, Aria followed. Sonata crawled into her bed and Aria began to tuck her in and make her comfortable so she could sleep, she'd scheduled an appointment with Sonata's psychologist for the next day at one thirty in the afternoon. Aria knelt down after tucking Sonata in so she could say goodnight to her little sister.

"Ok Sonata, it's time for bed, if you need anything I'll be downstairs." Aria explained softly, brushing the hair out of Sonata's eyes gently with her left hand.

"Night Ari." Sonata said quietly, smiling at her older sister, she wanted to tell her she was scared to go to sleep but was also thinking of just leaving it be and trying to go to sleep herself.

"Goodnight Nata." Aria whispered, she stood up and walked to her sister's doorway, turned off the light and exited the room.

"Ari." Sonata called after her sister, deciding to tell her what she wanted to tell her.

"What?" Aria asked, pausing from closing the door to look in at her sister again to see what she wanted.

"I'm scared to go to sleep." Sonata answered, sitting up a little in her bed.

"Why?" Aria asked again slowly as she turned on Sonata's light and walked over to her sister's bed.

"Because I'm scared about what my psychologist will say tomorrow and that I'll have nightmares again." Sonata explained, grabbing her sister's hand and holding onto it tightly because she was scared.

"Sonata, you'll be fine, just don't think about your appointment tomorrow and you shouldn't have nightmares because we didn't watch or listen to anything bad or scary that happened today." Aria explained to her little sister, feeling her grab her hand tightly and reaching over to rub her right shoulder gently to calm her down.

Sonata said nothing, she just sat in her bed and held her sister's hand while she calmed herself down, Aria knew she was scared and knew she would probably have to let Sonata sleep with her because it was the only way she'd go to sleep. Aria slowly knelt down beside her sister's bed, keeping her hand on her sister's shoulder so she'd calm down while she did. When her knees were touching the floor, she grabbed her sister's hands in hers and rubbed her thumbs over top of Sonata's hands, Sonata looked at her sister with a scared look on her face and Aria just simply smiled softly to let her know it was ok.

"Do you think you'll be able to eventually get to sleep if I left you here on your own?" Aria asked Sonata, she wanted her sister to at least try sleeping on her own first before sleeping with Aria.

"I don't know." Sonata answered, shrugging her shoulders.

"Do you think you could try for me?" Aria asked again, letting her sister's hands go when she felt that she was calmed down enough.

"I think so." Sonata answered, she nodded her head hesitantly.

"Ok, well, then I'm going to go downstairs, grab my phone, come back up here, get ready myself to go to bed and then lay in my bed and watch either Netflix or YouTube on my phone. If you don't come and get me by eleven I will come and check on you and if you're still scared then you can sleep with me, ok." Aria explained slowly so Sonata could comprehend what she was saying and wouldn't get confused.

"Ok." Sonata said cautiously.

"And if by the time I come back up here and get ready for bed, if you think you can't sleep by yourself you can come lay in bed with me until eleven and then you can sleep with me." Aria explained again, standing up and letting her sister hold her hand while she comprehended what her sister had told her.

"Ok." Sonata said, letting go of Aria's hand and watching her sister leave her room again.

"Goodnight Nata, if you need me I'm just down the hall ok, and don't worry about Adagio seeing you or not, if she does and has a problem with it, I'll talk to her in the morning when I get up ok." Aria said, knowing Sonata would worry about getting up and not being seen by Adagio.

Sonata nodded and then watched Aria turn off her bedroom light and close the door. Aria headed down the hall and downstairs to grab her phone off the side table by the couch. Sonata laid in her bed and stared up at her ceiling, she turned a tiny piece of the edge of her blanket in her fingers while she tried to go to sleep, she knew she wasn't going to be able to so she waited until she heard Aria come back upstairs to go to her sister. Aria came back upstairs a couple minutes later and Sonata got out of bed, opened her door and stepped out in the hallway, she closed her bedroom door behind her and then walked down the hall towards her sister's room. Her sister's door was open and she peeked in, she seen her sister looking in her closet for pajamas and she walked into her room, Aria wasn't usually jumpy so Sonata walked over to her sister, Aria looked into her mirror on her dresser and saw Sonata standing beside her and knew exactly what she wanted.

"You can't sleep can you?" Aria asked Sonata, turning to her sister after grabbing her pajamas from her dresser.

"No." Sonata answered quietly.

"Did you at least try?" Aria asked her sister again, walking towards her door so she could go change in the bathroom and get ready for bed.

"Yeah." Sonata said, following her sister.

"Ok well I'm going to go change and brush my teeth so stay here while I do that and when I get back we can lay in my bed and watch either Netflix or YouTube on my phone until eleven ok." Aria explained to Sonata, putting a hand out to gently stop her sister and get her to stay.

"Ok." Sonata said, watching her sister walk down the hall towards the bathroom and then stepping back into her sister's room and going to sit on her sister's bed.

Sonata sat quietly on Aria's bed while Aria changed in the washroom, she was looking in her hands and did not notice Adagio come upstairs and walk into Aria's room to put Aria's phone charger in her her room, she was a little surprised when she saw Sonata in Aria's room instead of her own room.

"Sonata." Adagio said, startling Sonata with the sound of her voice because Sonata hadn't known she was there.

"What." Sonata exclaimed.

"What are you doing in Aria's room? You're supposed to be in bed." Adagio asked Sonata, stating the truth to her. Aria came out of the washroom and saw Adagio standing in the doorway of her bedroom and walked quickly to her room so Sonata wouldn't get upset because she was uncomfortable with Adagio.

"Hey Adagio, what's up." Aria said, walking into her room and throwing her dirty clothes in her laundry hamper.

"Not much, I was just putting your phone charger beside the door and was surprised to see Sonata in here. Why isn't she in bed?" Adagio asked Aria, Sonata walked over to Aria and Aria grabbed her hand, knowing she was still upset that she wasn't able to sleep on her own for a fifth straight night.

"She's scared and thanks." Aria answered, explaining to Adagio why Sonata wasn't in her room and thanking her for bringing her phone charger upstairs.

"Scared of what?" Adagio asked again.

"Her appointment tomorrow, and that she'll have nightmares again." Aria explained, gesturing for Sonata to go sit on her bed and get herself comfy.

"Oh, is she going to sleep with you to or just lay in here with you until she's ready for bed?" Adagio asked Aria again, she wanted to know the answers but wanted to watch her TV in her room also.

"No she'll probably sleep with me, she has been for the last five nights now." Aria answered.

"Five nights! You know this might become a habit for her if she does it too much and you let her do it a lot." Adagio explained to Aria, shocked when she heard how long Sonata'd been sleeping with Aria for.

"Yeah I know, that's why I got the appointment, to see why she's doing it." Aria explained, walking over to her door to turn off the light and began shutting the door.

"Well goodnight, night Sonata." Adagio said before turning and heading into her bedroom.

"Goodnight." Aria said as she closed her bedroom door.

Aria grabbed her phone and charger off her dresser and walked over and crawled into her bed, once she was in her bed, she tucked herself and Sonata in. Sonata immediately cuddled up to her, for warmth and because she was scared, Aria smiled and then turned on her phone, she asked Sonata what she wanted to watch and went to YouTube when Sonata said YouTube. She let Sonata put in something she wanted to watch and they watched that, Aria could tell Sonata was tired because she was having troubles staying awake through the videos they were watching. Aria glanced at her side-table at her clock and saw it was almost ten thirty and it was probably the latest Sonata'd ever intentionally tried to stay up.

"Do you want to go to bed?" Aria asked her sister, pausing the video they were watching and looking down at her.

"Yeah." Sonata answered, changing her position from laying on her back to laying on her left side.

"Ok we can go to bed then." Aria said, closing YouTube, shutting off her phone and putting it on the charger on her bed-side table.

"You don't have to yet if you don't want to." Sonata said as she got comfortable and got ready to close her eyes and go to sleep.

"I know but if I watch Netflix it'll be hard for you to sleep so I'll just go to sleep to." Aria explained, doing the same as Sonata.

"Night Ari." Sonata said, yawning and closing her eyes.

"Goodnight Nata." Aria whispered softly, she closed her eyes after watching her sister sleep for a minute and the two remained this way for the rest of the night.

Night Six - Weird Noises

Sonata laid awake in her bed, it was dark and pitch black in her house. Adagio'd gone to bed early because she had to get up early in the morning to go to town and meet up with her some old friends to hang out for the day and Aria'd gone to bed when Sonata'd gone to bed just to play on her phone and Sonata figured she was probably asleep because of the long day they'd had. Sonata looked at her bedside table to see what time it was and saw that it was almost 12:00 in the morning, she knew she was supposed to go to bed two hours ago but she couldn't stop hearing what her psychologist had said at their appointment today in her head.

"She may be doing these things because she's gotten accustomed to doing it because she has been doing it for five straight nights now, the first couple nights it was probably due to something that had happened or was happening but after that it probably just became a habit for her. It's ok for her to come to you and seek comfort from you but if she does it every night it may become something she'll never grow out of because she's so used to doing it." is what Sonata's psychologist had said.

When Aria'd put Sonata to bed, she'd told that if she really needed her that she could come and get her but that she had to try sleeping on her own for awhile before coming to get her. Sonata'd been in bed for almost two hours and had maybe only slept for like fifty minutes because she couldn't stop thinking about what her psychologist had said. Sonata yawned and decided to try and fall asleep, she rolled onto her left side and was just about to close her eyes when she heard a weird noise come from somewhere, she wasn't sure where though. She quietly laid on her bed and listened to see if the sound would be heard again, she heard the sound again and it sounded like a tap on either one of her far walls or her dresser. She immediately did not want to be in her room so she got up from her bed, quickly walked out of her room, closed her door and walked down the hall to her sister's room and didn't hesitate to walk in. She saw that her sister was laying on her left side, facing her door so Sonata walked over after shutting her sister's door, knelt down and gently shook her older sister's shoulder.

"What is it Sonata?" Aria asked softly, opening one eye to look at her younger sister.

"I heard a weird noise in my room and got scared." Sonata answered.

"What kind of noise was it?" Aria asked her again, sitting up on her arms and rolling onto her stomach.

"Like a weird tapping noise on the wall or something." Sonata explained, showing her sister what the noise sounded like by tapping on her wall and then her bedside table.

"It's probably nothing, just something outside, like a tree branch or something, don't forget that there is a tree on the outside of the house by your room." Aria explained softly.

"I know, it was weird though. It sounded like it was in the room." Sonata said again.

"Were you asleep when you heard the noise?" Aria asked her sister again, softly.

"Kind of, I was sort of thinking about what my psychologist said and trying to go to sleep." Sonata answered, looking intently at her sister.

"You did try to sleep though right." Aria said, reaching over to brush a strand of Sonata's hair out of her face.

"Yeah, I actually did for about half an hour after you put me to bed." Sonata explained, smiling at her sister, hoping her sister would see it in her pitch black room.

"That's good." Aria said, she'd seen her sister's smile and returned a smile.

"I know you'll probably tell me I have to sleep in my room, but, can I sleep with you?" Sonata asked her sister, her voice drifting off slightly when she asked the question.

"I know the psychologist I have to keep insisting that you sleep in your own room in your own bed but you clearly tried and can't and don't like the noise in your room so you can stay here if you want to." Aria explained softly to her sister.

"Really." Sonata said, looking back up at her sister with a hopeful gaze.

"Yeah, come on up." Aria replied, moving over so Sonata could have room to climb on her bed.

"Ok." Sonata said, climbing up onto her sister's bed and covering herself up with the covers.

"Now go to bed, tomorrow, I'll see if I can get Adagio to pick you up a nightlight from the store, that might help you sleep better in your room at night." Aria explained softly to her sister as her sister got comfortable.

"Ok. Night Ari." Sonata whispered tiredly, sliding over and cuddling up to her sister.

"Goodnight Nata." Aria whispered, waiting until her sister fell asleep before she fell asleep. They remained this way for the rest of the night.

Night Seven - She's Not Home

View Online

It was almost ten o'clock, which was Sonata's bedtime, but, her older sister Aria wasn't home to put her to bed, she'd been asked by a friend early that evening if she'd like to come hang out and she'd said yes, but she'd told her sisters that she probably wouldn't be home until eleven o'clock that night. This meant that Adagio would have to put Sonata to bed and Adagio hated putting her youngest sister to bed because she could never get her to go to bed it seemed, but it wasn't because Sonata didn't want to go to bed, it was just because she always missed Aria and wanted Aria all the time. Adagio was watching something on TV and checked the clock on her phone to see what time it was, she saw it was 9:57 so she decided she might as well start trying to put Sonata to bed. She stood up, stretched for a minute and then looked at Sonata who was sitting in the middle of the living room floor playing with some of her toys.

"Sonata." Adagio said to her sister.

"What?" Sonata asked without looking up at her.

"It's almost your bedtime." Adagio answered, walking over to stand by the open doorway that led to the hall where the stairs were.

"But..." Sonata said hesitantly as she stood up, her voice trailing off.

"But what?" Adagio asked calmly.

"Ari's not home yet." Sonata explained, walking slightly closer to her older sister but then stopping after taking two very small steps.

"Sonata, Aria told you she wouldn't be home until eleven and that I have to put you to bed, now let's go." Adagio explained flatly, crossing her arms at Sonata's reluctance to go to bed.

"But.. ok" Sonata said quietly, knowing better than to argue with her oldest sister.

"Thank you." Adagio said, following her sister upstairs and to her room.

"Ok, you get changed and let me know when you're done." Adagio explained to her little sister, waiting outside her bedroom while her sister changed.

Sonata nodded before closing the door and presumed to change in her pajamas. Adagio waited out in the hall while her sister changed. Sonata changed and put her dirty clothes in her laundry basket and looked at her bed for a minute, knowing that Aria wasn't home and she'd have to sleep in her room, luckily Adagio'd picked her up a nightlight that she could use now so she wouldn't be so scared of things. She sighed heavily before turning back to her door and opening it.

"I'm done changing Adagio." Sonata said when Adagio looked at the opening door.

"Ok." Adagio said, she followed Sonata over to Sonata's bed and waited for Sonata to crawl into her bed.

"Ok, I'm not sure how you like being tucked in so I'll do the best I can and then you can fix it after if you're not comfortable ok." Adagio explained to her little sister as she began to tuck her in.

"Um ok." Sonata said, watching Adagio tuck her in.

"There, well, goodnight Sonata." Adagio said without playing with her hair or doing anything Aria did, she turned on Sonata's nightlight and walking towards Sonata's bedroom door.

"Night." Sonata said, she rolled onto her right side so her back was facing her door after Adagio shut off the light and shut the door to her bedroom.

Sonata laid on her bed for a few minutes and thought about how Adagio hadn't put her to bed at all like how Aria usually did, she played with the corner of her blanket while she tried to fall asleep. She could hear Adagio watching something on the TV downstairs but knew she couldn't get up to go get her because Adagio wouldn't do anything to help her, she'd just send her back to bed. A couple tears began to run down her face as she remembered the fact that her sister wasn't there a few minutes later, she decided she'd wait until Adagio came downstairs and then she'd sneak downstairs and text Aria using the iPad that the girls had that Sonata was allowed to play on. Adagio came upstairs a few minutes later and Sonata waited until she was sure Adagio was in her room to go back downstairs and text her older sister.

Sonata quietly got out of her bed and tiptoed to her bedroom door, quietly opening it so it wouldn't creak open, she made sure the coast was clear before stepping out of her bedroom. She quietly closed her bedroom door once she was in the hallway and then quietly but quickly walked downstairs to the living room. Adagio'd turned off all the lights except the hall lights both down and upstairs so Aria'd be able to see when she got home, once Sonata was downstairs, she walked into the living room, turned on the lamp beside the couch and grabbed the iPad off the bedside table and unlocked it. She went to the texting app after unlocking the iPad. Once Sonata was in the texting app, she clicked on Aria's contact and then clicked on the little bar on the bottom of the screen where she could write her message to her sister.

"Ari when are you coming home?" Sonata typed into the little bar and then pressed send after reading it over a couple times.

Sonata waited a couple minutes for a reply before she got one from her sister.

"I'll be coming home in about twenty minutes. Why?" Aria texted back.

"Because I miss you." Sonata answered her sister's text immediately.

"I know you do Nata, where are you right now? Are you in bed?" Aria typed back quickly.

"No, I'm in the living room on the iPad." Sonata answered.

"Ok, I'll come home now then and you can sleep with me even though you aren't supposed to anymore, but I know you aren't going to like it if you can't since you miss me." Aria replied through her text.

"Ok, I'll wait for you in the living room." Sonata typed back.

"Ok. See you in a bit then Nata." Aria texted back after a couple minutes.

Sonata turned off the iPad and set it down on the side table and sat on the couch, waiting for her sister. Aria pulled up to the her and her sisters house about fifteen minutes later and locked her car after she got to the front door. She quietly opened the front door of the house and stepped in, quietly shutting the door behind her once she did. She was taking off her shoes when she heard soft footsteps come around the corner, she knew who it was because she'd been expecting Sonata to come and greet her when she got home.

"Hi Nata." Aria said once she'd taken off her shoes and had stood up again.

"Hi Ari." Sonata replied before walking over to her sister and hugging her.

"Alright, lets go up to bed now ok." Aria suggested as she began walking to the living room to set her phone down after Sonata finished hugging her, Sonata followed her closely.

"Ok." Sonata replied.

Aria turned off the lights downstairs and then walked upstairs with Sonata and to her bedroom. She told Sonata to wait in her room while she changed into her pajamas and turned out the hall light when she was done. Once she was back in her room, she and Sonata got comfy on her bed and they soon both drifted off to sleep after saying goodnight to one another.

Night Eight - Power Outage

View Online

Aria'd just finished putting Sonata to bed and was getting ready to go to bed herself. She had just finished putting her pjs on and was now brushing her teeth and taking out her berets from her hair. Once she was done that she turned out he light in her bathroom and walked down the hall to Sonata's closed bedroom door to check and see if her sister was asleep, when she opened her sister's door quietly she saw that Sonata was facing the door and was sound asleep. Aria closed Sonata's door and then walked back to her room and closed the door behind her when she walked in, she got comfy in her bed after turning out her light and plugging her phone in on the dresser beside her bed and she soon was sound asleep in her bed.

A couple hours later at around midnight, Sonata woke up to a pitch black room, she knew she'd had her nightlight on when she'd gone to bed because Aria's turned it on before she'd left the room to get ready for bed.

"Huh? Why is my room dark? Did someone turn out my nightlight?" Sonata asked herself quietly as she sat up in her bed to look around her pitch black room.

It took her a couple minutes to come to her senses and realise what happened and when she did she immediately felt scared and didn't want to be alone in her dark room by herself at all anymore.

"Oh, I bet the power went out. I'm going to go see if Ari will let me sleep with her, she probably will when I explain why I'm up, I'm just really, really scared and don't feel like being alone anymore." Sonata whispered to herself again.

Sonata quickly and quietly got out of her bed, set her feet on the floor and walked over to her closed bedroom door carefully since her room was dark. Once she got to her door she opened it, stepped out into the hallway and then closed her door behind her. She then walked down the hall towards her sister's bedrooms and didn't stop or hesitate before walking into Aria's room after quietly opening and shutting the door once she was in the room. Aria was laying on her right side, with her back to Sonata so Sonata quietly walked over to her bed and knelt down next to it and reached out and began shaking her sister gently.

"Ari wake up." Sonata whispered to her sister when she saw her sister move slightly due to her shaking.

"What is it? You were fine two hours ago when I put you to bed and I even checked on you after I was done getting ready for bed two hours ago and you were sound asleep." Aria explained as she slowly and tiredly asked Sonata why she was awake.

"Well, um, the power's out." Sonata answered, explaining to Aria why she was awake and in Aria's room waking her up.

"It is?" Aria asked as she glanced at her beside clock and then looked at her phone to see that it wasn't charging and that the clock was blinking the numbers 11:05 at her, which she guessed is when the power went out and was about an hour after she'd put Sonata to bed.

"Yeah." Sonata answered again.

"Well, you're right, it is out and it looks like it's been out for about an hour. Judging by my clock." Aria said, looking at her phone again to see what time it actually was and saw that it was 12:04 in the morning.

"I'm scared now though, I don't want to be alone in my room which is pitch black right now." Sonata explained to Aria, telling her she was scared to sleep in her dark room.

"Sonata nothing's going to hurt you in your room just because it's dark." Aria softly said to Sonata, rolling onto her stomach and resting her head on her arms.

"I know I just don't like it when the power goes out." Sonata said, smiling slightly at Aria.

"Yeah I know you don't. I guess if you really, really want to, you can stay here and sleep with me." Aria said to Sonata, moving over and patting the bed next to her so Sonata could climb up.

"Ok, thanks Ari. You're the best sister in the whole world." Sonata exclaimed quietly as she climbed onto her older sister's bed and got herself comfortable.

"Thanks Nata." Aria replied as she watched her younger sister get comfortable in her bed.

"Hey, Ari, can I tell you something?" Sonata asked as she looked up at her older sister a couple minutes later after getting herself comfy.

"Of course, you can tell me anything." Aria answered, smiling down at her younger sister.

"Last night when you weren't here and Adagio put me to bed, I only got up and texted you because Adagio didn't to any of the things you usually do. All she did was kind of tuck me in, turn my nightlight on and then leave after muttering a simple goodnight and nothing else." Sonata explained to her older sister.

"Nata, I know you don't like it when she puts you to bed because she doesn't do it right, but, you do need to understand that she doesn't know what to do and she isn't as close with you as I am." Aria explained softly to her younger sister who was staring at her intently.

"I know she doesn't know what to do, I just like when you do it because you know what you're doing and know how to do it right.

"Well that's understandable." Aria replied quietly.

Aria watched as Sonata yawned and knew she was tired because it was well past her bedtime. She got herself comfortable again and allowed Sonata to cuddle up to her before they both fell asleep in Aria's bed.

"Ari." Sonata whispered a couple minutes later.

"What?" Aria asked her sister as she opened her eyes to look at her, thinking she needed something.

"Thanks for letting me sleep with you these past few nights. I know I tend to hog the bed sometimes and move and kick a lot but I don't mean to. It's just something I do." Sonata answered, thanking her sister for her kindness.

"No problem Nata, I don't do it out of pity for you, I do it because I love you and care about you." Aria replied, gently reaching over and hugging her sister lightly.

"I love you to. Goodnight Ari." Sonata said as she soon drifted off to sleep again.

"Goodnight Nata." Aria said, she watched her sister sleep for a few minutes before kissing her gently on the cheek and drifting off to sleep herself.
