Earth ponies who helped prepare food and were strong, pegasus ponies helped with creating the weather and other dangers in the air, and the univorns used their magic to help do daily tasks. The ruler, a pony of power and wisdom of all three pony types, Princess Celestia, a white pony who was full grown, with wings and a magic horn raised the sun, and helped rule the land. Along with her blue sister Princess Luna who helped ponies in their dreams, the two ponies helped Equestria be a better place. Princess Celestia even had a student that she helped train; a purple unicorn named Twilight Sparkle, along with her assistant Spike - a baby purple and green dragon who could walk on his back legs. Celestia had ordered them to move to a town called Ponyville, to make friends. That unicorn was quite the book worm before making friends. Eventually, she made friends and the group of them helped solve many problems. This eventually allowed Twilight to become an alicorn herself and get her very own castle. Twilight was now the Princess of Friendship. It had been quite some time since Twilight's friend Rainbow Dash - a light cyan blue pegasus who was a great flyer but was stubborn as heck - had accidentally caused a giant snowball to hit Ponyville after creating it at the weather factory in Cloudsdale. Cloudsdale was where pegasus ponies lived, and now that giant snowball had turned Ponyville into a winter kingdom! All because Rainbow didn't want her pet tortoise Tank to hibernate. She was able to get over it though, but the snowy aftermath was stll in progress. It was only three months since the winter takeover. In her library, Twilight flipped through yet another page of one of her books, reading the content of the words within. As she did so, her mind was focused on the words in front of her. She was reading about the legendary unicorn Starswirl talking with Princess Luna, their conversation about stars, feelings and dreams was amazing! What could be more interesting than reading about two famous ponies- "TWILIGHT!!!" came a scream from the front door of the castle. Twilight jumped and turned her head to the library door before openning it, and running off in the direction of the scream. As she ran, she could hear heavy breathing. "Twilight?" a familiar voice asked. Twilight turned her head to see Rainbow Dash. She was breathing heavily, shivering, and wrapping herself in her hooves. She had on her winter clothing, but she was still cold. "Rainbow Dash!" the alicorn exclaimed with concern. She ran over to her friend, wrapping her wing around her for protection. They carefully trotted through the castle to get to the fireplace. "Rainbow Dash! Why are you so cold? What happened?!" Twilight asked as the two ponies entered the spare relaxing room, made for relaxing on cold Hearth's Warming Nights. Twilight helped the cyan pegasus take off her clothing, and had her lie down on a cushion near the fireplace. Twilight grabbed a checker-patterned blue, green, and red blanket, and put it on her. After lighting a match, Twilight put it in the fireplace, and let the fire get started. "I-I was flying over here to see you. Wanted to just hang out. But the weather is colder than normal. Looks like my decision to stop winter came back to bite me back. I've been helping to fix the weather machine, but it still needs work. Sorry," Rainbow Dash explained as she tried to get warm. "Well, at least you're taking responsibility for your actions. Besides, the weather pegasus ponies did say the weather could change on a whim since the machine is only some-what fixed. So, it's not too surprising. Would you like some hot cider?" Twilight replied. Rainbow's eyes lit up as she nodded fiercely. She would love some hot chocolate right now! "Okay. I'll be right back!" the alicorn replied happily as she headed towards the kitchen. Once her purple friend was gone, Rainbow Dash wrapped herself more in the blanket, the warmth from the fire now starting to reach her hooves. As she sat quietly, she started to think about Twilight, and how nice it was that she was getting warm inside the Crystal castle. 'It sure was nice of Twilight to let me stay here. I mean, I thought it wouldn't be so cold, but sheesh! Wow, did It get cold after leaving the factory! Should have worn a coat though ... oh well. I got one here. Still, Twilight helped me out when I needed it, and she didn't judge me. And even if she was reading a book, she stopped when I called out to her. She's so kind, willing to do anything for her friends, she's passionate about books and her other interests, always thinking of everything and improvising when she can't. She's just so awesome!' Rainbow Dash thought to herself. As she thought more about her alicorn friend, Rainbow Dash felt a soft, warm, passionate feeling towards The Princess of Friendship. The cyan pegasus felt like she was on cloud nine for some reason. Twilight was just an awesome pony, and friend. She would do anything to help out her- 'Whoa! Wait a minute! Was I really thinking about Twilight like that?! I mean we're friends ... but, come on! I can't like Twilight that much, can I?' Rainbow Dash told herself as she thought about all the qualities she liked about the purple alicorn. As if on cue, her friend walked back into the room with the hot chocolate levitated by her magic. She also levitated a cup for herself as well. Rainbow Dash held the cup of chocolate and took a sip. "Mmmmm. Thank you Twilight," the cyan pegasus said, after feeling the warm, delicious liquid go down her throat and warming her body. "You're welcome Rainbow. Anyways, want to just talk?" Twilight replied. Rainbow Dash nodded and they started discussing different topics about Daring Do, activities they were involved in, and other such matters. They eventually finished their hot cider and after Twilight put the cups away, she returned to the relaxing room. However, now she was starting to get cold! "Hey Rainbow, do you mind sharing the blanket?" Twilight asked kindly. Even though she could levitate a blanket over, why do so when Rainbow could just share the one available? "Of course," the cyan pegasus replied, opening up the blanket so the alicorn could slip beside her. Twilight happily did so, wrapping the blanket around herself. However, as they sat together, wrapped up in the blanket by the fire, Rainbow was starting to hog the blanket a bit. "Rainbow, I know you're cold, but I need the blanket too!" Twilight tried to reason, starting to push some of the blanket over to her side. "Well I was outside longer so I need to stay warm!" Rainbow Dash retorted, tugging the blanket back. Twilight groaned, then pulled. Rainbow Dash groaned, then pulled. It soon turned out neither pony would own most of the blanket and it became a tug of war for who needed most of the blanket! Twilight, Rainbow, Twilight, Rainbow - it lasted a good few minutes! "I'm cold Twilight!" Rainbow Dash stated, tugging harder on the blanket. "Well I need it too! I can't get warm if you won't share it!" commented Twilight as she too tugged on the blanket. The blanket stretched as the two ponies kept fighting over it's precious warmth. Suddenly, the fight came to an end! Twilight used her magic to pull the blanket in her direction to try and get it from Rainbow, but in the process, pulled a bit too hard. "Wahoooo!" Twilight exclaimed in surprise as both she and the blanket flew backwards off the cushion! Rainbow landed on the pillows with a soft "Oof!", Twilight' magic stopped, and she landed on the floor! The alicorn slowly sat up just as the checker-patterned blanket floated right on top of her, covering her from horn to tail. Rainbow tried to not laugh seeing her buddy stuck under the blanket. She looked both adorable and funny. "Ahhh! What the? - AHHHHHHHH! Ohhh! Grrrr! Help! Rainbow Dash! Help! I can't see!" Twilight cried out, now flailing about under the blanket, unable to get out. Rainbow smirked, but could't escape laughing. "Hahahahaha! You look like a ghost, Twilight! Hahahaha!" Rainbow Dash laughed, seeing her friend covered in the blanket. After struggling for a while, -without Rainbow's help no less - Twilight levitated the blanket upward by it's corners. No big deal, she would just get the blanket off herself! "WAAAAAHOOOOOO!" screamed the alicorn as she was lifted up into the air! Unfortunately, she was also upside down, still tangled up under the blanket. Rainbow's eyes widened as she also smiled. "HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!" the cyan pegasus burst out laughing, rolling around on the floor. Watching Twilight struggle under the blanket, magically hanging upside down was just too funny! Twilight continued to struggle, until she thought of the only option left. Her horn glowed bright purple, then ... POOF! Twilight teleported out of the tangled blanket, letting it fall before letting out a gasp. "Rainbow!" Twilight yelled, but was too late! The checker-patterned blanket, still in a tangled mess fell, onto the blue pegasus! "HHAHAHAHAHA! Twilight, can I - AHHHHHHHHHHHH! Ah! Help! Twilight?! What' going on?!" Rainbow shrieked as the blanket landed on top of her! The pegasus tried to stand up and shake the blanket off but it wouldn't budge! "AHHHHHHHHH! Grrrr! Twilight! Get me outta here!" Rainbow shouted desperately, frantically trying to get out of the tangled blanket. Twilight couldn't help but giggle. "Why? You look kind of adorable as a blanket ghost! Besides, I thought you were the one who wanted the blanket?" Twilight replied, a smile going across her face. "Not like this! Please Twilight! Get this thing off of me!" Rainbow Dash retorted, still tangled and trying to get out. She was now blindingly roaming the room like a real blanket ghost. "Hold on Rainbow Dash, I'm right here!" the alicorn said as she flew over to her buddy. "Where? I can't see!" Rainbow responded, her voice muffled under the fabric. Twilight put her hoof carefully over her 'ghost' friend's shoulder. "Right here. Just stay still," Twilight replied before taking her hoof off and using her magic to carefully get the blanket untangled, and off of the cyan pegasus. "Phew! Thank you Twilight. I'm sorry I didn't share and got us into this blanket mess," Rainbow apologized. "Apology accepted. Now, lets just sit in front of the fire and get warm together," Twilight replied as she levitated the blanket as the two friends walked on all fours back to the fireplace. Twilight carefully wrapped the blanket around them. They sat still for a while, each pony lost in thought. After an hour had passed though, Twilight saw Rainbow looked sad. "Rainbow Dash, what's wrong? Did I hurt you somehow?" Twilight asked cautiously, putting a hoof on her friend's shoulder. "No. You didn't Twilight. It's just, - I know I was grieving Tank hibernating, but now that I see all the damage I have done, what was I thinking?! I practically have turned Ponyvile into Winter every time one season ends. Spring, then Winter, Summer then half of Summer is Winter! I feel terrible! Didn't want to cause nature to go all wack-a-doodle! I just wanted to spend time with Tank!" Rainbow Dash admitted, now realizing the severity of her actions during Winter last year ... of rather lack of Winter for her case. She sighed, lowering her head in sadness. Twilight immediately put a hoof over the cyan pegasus's shoulder. "Rainbow Dash, I know how upset you must feel, but you are making things better. I know it doesn't seem like it now, but you're doing the right thing. Once the Weather ponies and you get the weather machine working again, the weather will return to normal. Besides, all our other friends are learning to deal with these adjustments as well as every pony. No pony could have predicted this outcome would happen. Not even you. Trust me Rainbow Dash, things WILL get better. But for now, we can only do what we can for the time being. No pony can go change the past on a whim. Not even Starlight could do that! Every time she did, it only ended in disaster. Still, I'm proud of everything you're doing," Twilight replied. Rainbow looked up at her friend and hugged Twilight. Twilight happily returned the hug. "Thank you Twilight, I really needed to hear that. Thank you," Rainbow Dash responded happily. Both ponies smiled as they embraced, enjoying their friendship. This is nice. Twilight helping me, getting me chocolate and a blanket, she's such a good friend! Rainbow Dash thought passionately. Rainbow is so kind, awesome, easy to talk to, and can be quite a softy at times, Twilight thought sweetly. > Chapter 2: Confessions and Confusion > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Chapter 2: Confessions and Confusion Twilight and Rainbow Dash both blushed after thinking those words and separating from the hug. Did they really feel that way about each other? Both ponies froze as they looked at each other. Did they really love each other? Just as friends right? Or did they really mean it? "So, want to just talk about something else?" the alicorn suggested, trying to make the moment less awkward. Rainbow nodded. "I hope the weather gets less cold. We've been working on the weather machine for weeks now!" Rainbow commented. "I know, but just be patient. Your hard work is improving things. Besides it's only five o' clock - " Twilight replied before getting interrupted. "'Five o' clock'? Oh no! I need to go help Pinkie! I'm so sorry Twilight! I should have said something earlier!" Rainbow Dash said before flying over to put her clothes on. "It's okay, I understand! Don't let me hold you up," Twilight replied, feeling embarrassed for possibly making Rainbow late. The two ponies then walked to the door, and Rainbow turned her attention to Twilight again. "Thank you for understanding Twilight, and thank you for the hot cider. As well as helping to get me warm, - and for borrowing the blanket before we got stuck under it. Hehehe," Rainbow Dash thanked her friend. "No problem Rainbow. Come back whenever you want!" Twilight replied before giving Rainbow Dash a hug. Rainbow returned the hug, then they separated, and she walked out the door. Twilight waited for a few minutes, then ran back to her library! "No! No! No! No! No! No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no! This - can't - be - HAPPENING! How is this possible?!" Twilight said as she paced around frantically while starting to hyperventilate. 'Why in Equestria is this happening?! Why is this happening?! I can't actually be in love with Rainbow Dash, right?! We're just friends, buddies, - Right?!?! I don't understand WHY this is happening, but I can't describe it! I feel safe, warm, secure, happy, and have a good time near Rainbow Dash, but not like this! I - I don't know what to do!' Twilight thought to herself. She felt the feeling bottling up inside to the point where she just had to scream it to the heavens! After she used her horn to cast an anti-sound spell around herself and the library, she made sure the spell was properly set before letting go of her feelings. Finally, she took a deep breath and screamed: "I'M IN LOVE WITH RAINBOW DASH! YES! I, TWILIGHT SPARKLE, THE PRINCESS OF FRIENDSHIP! PUPIL OF PRINCESS CELESTIA ADMIT, ADMIT THAT I LOVE RAINBOW DASH!!!" Twilight then took a few good deep breaths before she felt relief. It felt good to let go of her emotions like that! But as she thought more about her feelings for her cyan pegasus friend, a thought occured to her. A concerning thought: 'What if Rainbow doesn't feel the same way about me?! What if my emotions are one sided, and I'm putting our friendship in danger?! What if these emotions are part of my imagination? What if she feels the same way about me, but is too nervous to admit it? What if I made her uncomfortable and this whole situation is my fault?! Or worse, she doesn't want to be in that kind of relationship? What would our friends think? What would Celestia think?! Oh Equestria! What have I done?!' Twilight continued pacing nervously until she slowly calmed down, and decided to deal with these thoughts later. Besides it was getting late. She needed to continue her studies, as well as eat. "Twilight?" a voice spoke as Spike opened the library door opened. Unfortunately, thanks to Twilight's anti-sound spell, she didn't hear it. All sound was either silent or muffled. "Twilight, what would you like for dinner?" Spike asked kindly. However, he didn't know his voice was muffled, so Twilight only heard bits of what he said. "What?! You asked would I like a glass of water? Yes. But I can barely hear you! Speak up, Spike!" Twilight said loudly from across the library. Spike face-clawed. "Okay. But what would you like for dinner? To eat?" Spike responded, slightly confused. "What?! You want me to dance like a chicken? Okay! Ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba- BAC-GAK!" Twilight responded before getting on her hind hooves, moving her arms, front hooves, and wings, now acting like a chicken. Spike face-clawed again. "NO! I ASKED WHAT YOU WANTED FOR DINNER!!!" Spike shouted, hoping he wasn't too loud. He had to get dinner ready since the others would be coming over for the meal. "OOOOOHHHHHH! You want us to play with fresh linen?! Okay!" Twilight replied with a bit of glee. She then flew out of the library just as Spike was about to correct her. "Twilight, wait! What are you doing?!" Spike retorted, feeling like Twilight was now getting the wrong idea about what he really was asking her. Wait a minute, how was it possible for Twilight to not understand what Spike asked her? He was speaking crystal clear! Unless - wasn't there a spell that made sounds muffled or completely silent? She used it when practicing with Starlight - Oh no! She must have used it on either the library or herself! Or even both! No wonder she couldn't understand him! She forgot to get rid of the spell! "I'M BACK SPIKE! Ready and willing to play with some FRESH LINEN!" Twilight cried out happily as she flew back into the crystal library. She had the multi-colored checker-patterned blanket tied around her neck as if she was a super pony. While she flew in, she was holding the corners of a big, white bed sheet, carrying it under her as she flew; the bed sheet gently blew in the air as if it were in the wind on a clothesline. Twilight smiled with glee as she flew over Spike, and dropped the white bed sheet! "Twilight! Wait - NOOOOOOOOOO -" Spike exclaimed as the big, white bed sheet fell right on top of him, covering him from head to tail! Spiked struggled to get out of the sheet, flailing his arms around, unable to see anything! Even though getting tangled up under the sheet was now a bit of a hassle, there was no way Spike would risk burning it, less he end up burning himself or Twilight by accident in the process! As the baby dragon made futile attempts to get out of his white, silky entanglement, Twilight smiled. She was more than happy to play with Spike, especially if he was the one to pick something fun and out of the ordinary! "There you go, Spike old buddy! So, how did you want to play with the sheet? - No, no, no, no, no, no, no, wait! Don't tell me! You're pretending to be a ghost? A monster? A sheet covered mummy?" Twilight said jubilantly as she now watched her assistant battle the bed sheet, completely tangled under it. "Grrrrr! Gaaahh! AHHHHHHHHH TWILIGHT! HELP ME! GET ME OUTTA HERE!!! PLEASE!!!" Spike cried out, continuing to struggle and flailing under the tangled white bed sheet. "Don't worry Spike! I got you!" Twilight said before helping Spike get untangled from the white bed sheet. Spike gasped and took in some deep breaths before turning to the alicorn again. "Twilight! Why did you throw that bed sheet over me? I asked you what you wanted for dinner!" Spike retorted, clearly getting annoyed by Twilight's actions. "Yes, you said 'I want us to play with fresh linen'. So that's why I got the white bed sheet, and dropped it over you. Your request was straight and simple," Twilight replied calmly. Spike then thought quickly and ran over to the table with the quills, ink, and parchment. He quickly wrote something down, and showed his friend the note. It read: Twilight, did you use an anti-sound spell? I think you forgot to remove it. You are not understanding what I asked you. Twilight blushed red as an apple from Applejack's farm. She DID forget to remove the spell. No wonder Spike was getting annoyed. "Oops. Sorry," Twilight said before her horn glowed purple as she removed the spell from both herself and the library. "Okay. NOW I can hear you. What was it you were asking me?" Twilight said to the baby dragon. Spike face-clawed again. "What do you want to eat for dinner?" Spike asked for what sounded like the umpteenth time. "I'm good with any meal. Maybe something warm, but enjoyable. Like lasagna with garlic bread? And some vegetables and fruit on the side?" Twilight suggested. Spike smiled. "Sounds good. Just, clean up when you're done. Dinner won't be ready till seven o' clock," Spike reponded casually. "Wait, where did this bed sheet come from?" Twilight asked. She clearly didn't remember bringing it into the library. Made sense since the spell made her misunderstand Spike's question. "You thought I said we wanted to play with it when you still had the anti-spell active. I'm going to make dinner. But if you wanted to play with the bed sheet - knock yourself out!" Spike reorted before leaving the library. "Okay, cool!" Twilight exclaimed before grabbing the white bed sheet with her mouth, and throwing it over herself. "I'm a ghost pony now! Booooooooooooooo!" Twilight said as she playfully pretended to be a ghost in the library. Hopefully, Rainbow was having as much fun at Pinkie Pie's house. > Chapter 3: Brownies, Dogs and Loving > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Chapter 3: Brownies, Dogs and Loving Rainbow Dash flew as fast as she could to get to Pinkie Pie's place. Hopefully she wouldn't be late! After flying for what felt like minutes - and the cold weather didn't help out much either- Rainbow finally arrived at Pinkie's home. Mainly The Cake's bakery. She landed, and knocked on the door. "Hi Rainbow Dash! Glad you got here just in time! Come on! We need to start baking! I promised Twilight I'd bring over dessert for tonight's gathering - and you're gonna help!" the pink earth pony said as the two friends walked towards the back of the kitchen. "Okay! First up, you chop up, and mix the chocolate, while I get the other ingredients, and get the oven started!" Pinkie Pie told Rainbow Dash as she started grabbing a variety of objects like eggs, milk, flour, bowls, cutting boards, ect. Once she had that done, she carefully started the oven so it could pre-heat. "Remind me, what are we making again?" Rainbow Dash asked as she crushed and stirred the chocolate in a mixing bowl with a wooden spoon. "Brownies! Plan and simple, with decorations for everyone! Keep going, you almost got the chocolate ready!" Pinkie Pie replied as she herself started mixing the ingredients together, and carefully adding them to the chocolate concoction. Once they were done mixing, stirring, and got everything ready, they poured the chocolate into a rectangular pan, and Rainbow Dash put on some oven mits, before putting it in the oven. "Perfect! Now the icing. Help me stir these puppies up!" Pinkie Pie said, getting the powdered sugar, butter, vanilla, and milk set up and putting them all into different bowls. Five bowls were passed to Rainbow Dash, while Pinkie had the other five bowls. "Ahoooo?" came a whining sound near the door, echoing through the bakery. Rainbow and Pinkie Pie looked up from their baking, and ran to the front desk to see Winona, Applejack's dog sitting by the front door. She had a red leash on, with her ears were pulled back, tail wagging, her eyes sparkling wide as she looked at the two ponies behind the counter. "Winona? What are you doing here?" Pinkie Pie asked the dog, confused as to why she wasn't with her owner. Winona whined again. Rainbow thought for a minute, then quickly realized why AJ's dog was there. "Ah Pinkie, I think Winona heard you say 'puppies' and thought you were talking about her," Rainbow Dash said to her pink friend. Pinkie's eyes widened. "Ohhhh. Okay. Sorry Winona, I wasn't talking about you. Or any real dog for that matter. It was an expression. I'm sorry," Pinkie told the dog. Winona whined again, looking sad that somepony didn't call her to give her attention. "Winona? Where are you girl?" Applejack's voice called out. The dog wagged it's tail, perked it's ears up, and a smile came across it's face before barking. The farm pony walked into Sugarcube Corner to find her dog waiting for her. "Winona? What in apple sauce were you doing?! Runnin' into Pinkie's place like this?!" Applejack said firmly to her furry friend, confused as to what happened. "That was my fault Applejack. I said the word 'puppies' and Winona must have heard me, thinking I called her somehow. I'm sorry," Pinkie Pie explained. "Aww. I'm sorry Winona. Thank you for explaining Pinkie Pie," Applejack said before petting her dog. Winona's tail wagged happily, knowing AJ was no longer mad at her. "You're welcome AJ. And just to give you a little something for your troubles, I got some fresh dog treats in the back. One minute please," Pinkie Pie replied before washing her hooves and running towards the back. She quickly opened a shelf, grabbed the container with dog biscuits in it, grabbed a treat, put the container back, closed the shelf, then ran back to the front desk. "Here you go Applejack!" Pinkie said, tossing the dog treat to the orange mare. The farm pony caught the treat in her hooves. Winona jumped, barked, and wagged her tail, showing her excitement for the treat. Applejack giggled. "Whoa, easy Winona! I know you want the treat, but I'm not gonna give it unless you earn it! Come on, girl! Thank you Pinkie Pie, thank you Rainbow!" Applejack said before putting the treat in her jacket's pocket and then taking Winona by the leash. "You're welcome Applejack!" both Pinkie Pie and Rainbow Dash replied. Pinkie then thoroughly washed her hoives before her and Rainbow Dash went back to making the icing for the brownies. "Well that was unexpected! First you were almost late coming here, then Applejack has to retrieve Winona from Sugarcube Corner just as we started the icing. Hopefully we don't get any more distractions! Speakong of which, why were you almost late coming here?" Pinkie said as she mixed the bowls of icing. Rainbow Dash's face turned bright red; like the color of Winona's leash. The memories came back in clear detail; her and Twilight by the fire, her having feelings for Twilight, the fight over the blanket, both of them getting tangled up under the blanket, then leaving. What was she gonna say? To make matters worse, she was icing purple icing on the brownies! She instantly felt the loving emotions she had had for the alicorn before, but quickly pushed them to the back of her head. "I'm sorry Pinkie Pie. I got freezing cold after helping with the weather machine, that I had to get somewhere warm! So I just flew back to the friendship castle to sit by the fire. Even when I went home to shower, and put on clean clothing, and winter layers, I was still cold outside!" Rainbow explained so her pink friend would understand. "Makes sense! It is cold out today! Oh! The brownies are done. Hold on!" Pinkie Pie replied before getting the oven mits so she could get the brownies out of the oven. Pinkie and Rainbow let the brownies cool as they kept making the icing, which was almost ready. After a few minutes or so, the brownies were cooled off. "Okay, first, I'll cut the brownies into squares, then we decorate them!" Pinkie Pie said, getting a cutting knife out. The earth pony then carefully cut the brownies into squares, then put them on three different plates. Rainbow put on the icing, as did Pinkie, then put the brownies with icing on them on a clean plate. As they iced the brownies however, Rainbow Dash noticed the icing colors looked just like her and her friends coats and mane colors. "So these are for us and our friends, right? What's the occasion Pinkie?" Rainbow Dash asked, curious as to why they were making so many brownies. "For tonight's dinner! I volunteered to make dessert for tonight, and since Twilight and Spike decided to make dinner for everypony, I figured I'd do the honor of making dessert for after we have our big meal! Just something nice for everypony," Pinkie Pie responded happily. Rainbow smiled. That's Pinkie Pie! Always wanting to make others happy. Once the brownie squares had icing on them, wrapped in tin foal on a plate, and cooled in the refrigerator, Pinkie Pie and Rainbow Dash made sure they had everything cleaned up, washed up, and organized! Soon enough, it was six fourty-five. The pair of ponies took the brownies out of the refrigerator, got on their winter clothing, and went to the Friendship Castle. > Chapter 4: Growing Feelings and Confessions > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Chapter 4: Growing Feelings and Confessions Knocking was heard on the front door at six thirty. Spike stopped cooking and looked to make sure Twilight heard the noise. Good news was that Twilight had stopped playing with the bed sheet in the library. "I'm coming!" Twilight called out as she raced to answer the front door. She had just been getting washed up before hearing the knock. Twilight opened the door to see all of her friends in their winter outfits. "Hello everypony! Come on in!" Twilight greeted her friends cheerfully as she held the door, and let them into the castle. Every pony walked on all fours into the dining room, and sat down. Spike of course, brought the food. "Hello every pony! For dinner, we got lasagna with bread, and a separate plate of fruits and vegetables on the side. Enjoy!" Spike announced, putting the plates of food next to the group of ponies. As they ate, every pony discussed their daily activities; Twilight was practicing some new spells, Applejack was busy getting whatever apples she had secure and warm, Fluttershy was caring for her animals, and dealing with changes in their behaviors, Pinkie was making deliveries for The Cakes, Rarity was making some new dresses to better suite the cold weather, and Rainbow Dash was helping the weather ponies to help prevent the weather from getting worse. Eventually, every pony finished theie dinner, and was full. Not too full for dessert though. "Mmmmm! That was delicious, Spike! Thank you," Twilight said to her assistant, feeling full from the meal. "You're welcome Twilight," Spike replied kindly, before getting up to clean the plates. "May we have dessert now?" Pinkie Pie asked curiously, but also politely. "Yes Pinkie Pie," Twilight replied kindly. After Spike left with the dishes, a minute later, he had arrived with the brownies. "Brownies are ready!" Spike announced before putting the brown squares of goodness, down on the table. The group of friends then took a brownie or two, and politely ate them while enjoying the chocolatey goodness, and continuing to chat. Once they were done eatting, Spike took the plates and went to go do the dishes. "Thank you, Pinkie Pie. Those brownies were delicious!" the alicorn thanked the pink earth pony. Everypony agreed and thanked Pinkie Pie as well. "You're welcome, Twilight! You're welcome every pony. But I can't take all the credit! Rainbow Dash helped out too," Pinkie replied, turning her attention towards the cyan pegasus. "You're welcome every pony. Say, now that we're all done eatting, may we, you know, go hang out?" Rainbow Dash responded politely. "Of course. Every pony is excused," Twilight said kindly. Spike then grabbed the empty brownie dishes, while everypony went to go recuperate from their big meal. The Princess of Friendship helped Spike clean up, while every pony went to their bedrooms to get warm, and chill out. Rainbow Dash decided to read some "Daring Do" books for a while until she was sure Twilight was alone. To make sure they were alone! It was bad enough that she had practically confessed her feeling for Twilight, but if the rest of their friends found out, her reputation could be ruined! Or her relationship with Twilight! She just had to be careful! She carefully walked to Twilight's bedroom, knocked on the door, and made sure no pony was around. There wasn't. The door then opened. "Hi Rainbow. Come in," Twilight said casually, before letting the rainbow colored pony into her bedroom, then closed the door. After letting the pegasus sit down, Twilight trotted over and sat next to her. "What's going on Rainbow? Why did you want to see me?" Twilight asked, concerned about her friend's wellbeing. Rainbow Dash sighed. "You know how we both blushed after hugging and getting nervous?" Rainbow retorted, recalling the events of the day. Twilight and her blushed. "Yes. I remember," Twilight replied softly. "Did- Did you feel warm, happy, and safe being around me?" Rainbow Dash asked nervously. "As much as I want to deny it, and after thinking it through, I honestly think I did. I could guess it was the atmosphere of the room, us trying to relax from the scary awkwardness of the blanket ghost incident, or even just our friendship. Maybe even a combonation of those things! But all I know is that afterwards, I couldn't stop thinking about you, or get rid of the feelings I had until I casted a silencing spell in the library, then screamed my feelings to the heavens. What about you Rainbow?" Twilight asked cautiously. "I felt the same, and did the same while flying. Without casting a spell of course! And yes, it could be any of those things! Still, if the feelings lasted that long -and even coming back now- we've never had romantic feelings last this long!" Rainbow Dash agreed. "Exactly! So, to answer your question, I say yes! Based on the fact that both of us are feeling the same way about each other. What I'm saying is -" Twilight said until she stopped. "That we both have feelings for the other, but are nervous because we don't want our friends to think of us as weird, have it affect our friendship or worse?" Rainbow commented, saying what both she and the alicorn felt. "Yes, that's just what I was thinking!" Twilight said, surprised Rainbow took the words out of her mouth. "That's what I was thinking, Rainbow. You see the thing is, with both of us thinking the same way, and having the same emotions, I just wanted to tell you - I love you Rainbow Dash. I really do!" Twilight responded, hoping her friend wouldn't be upset. "I'm really glad you feel that way, Twilight. Since, I feel the same way about you! I love you too Twilight Sparkle!" Rainbow Dash commented, as the two ponies blushed, then sharing their emotions, looked lovingly into each others eyes. "This is so different, but feels good! Rainbow, how can we hide this from the others?" Twilight asked concerningly. "Easy. Just act like nothing is happening, be buddies during the non-romance moments, and during the romantic moments, go all out! Just don't let your feelings get the better of you," Rainbow Dash suggested, cautiously. Twilight thought it over for a minute or two, then smiled. "Yes. That will work. As long as we don't let our romance go to our heads, we should be fine!" Twilight replied in agreement. After they both were in agreement, the cyan pegasus and purple alicorn stared at each other, feeling their passionate love grow inside like a flower about to bloom. The loving gazes they gave each other, leaning in to show their affection, wrapping their hooves around each other in a blissful hug, cuddling as they sat on the Princess of Friendship's bed. The cuddles and hugs were soon followed by smiles, "I love you" comments, and more hugs. They leaned in more, staring with love at each other as they hugged lovingly. Passion towards the other increased, and they leaned their muzzles in for a kiss- Three knocks banged on Twilight's door. Both Twilight and Rainbow Dash froze in fear, blushing apple red as they did so. They were going to get caught!
