> Elements of Heroism Interlude: Vacation > by Bahamut0 > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > Prologue > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- It was the day after Tirek was destroyed. Burst Stream looked out the window, and took a deep breath. All the while, he contemplated on all that had passed. His chance encounter with Celestia when he was a little kid. His training. All the friends and battles he'd been through. And how he'd ascended. So much had happened in just a couple of years. And Burst was freaking exhausted. Then, an idea came to him. Burst took out his phone, and immediately texted his friends to meet up. Sure enough, all the Elements of Heroism were assembled. "Glad you all could make it." Burst said with a smile. "You know, we've had one crazy life ever since we all joined up. Especially after that last fight. Which brings me to an important announcement." Burst then raised his fist to the air! "As of right now, the Elements of Heroism are going on vacation!" Burst saw the grins on the guys' faces. "We've fought pretty hard, and I think we could all use a good rest. Besides, something tells me your lady loves are looking quite forward to spending more time with you. So-" Burst noticed that the guys had already bolted off to their respective girlfriends, and chuckled. "Heh! I guess they've already made their plans. Well then...." Burst dialed up Celestia. "Who says we guys should have all the fun to ourselves?" At the same time, each of the guys infromed their respective girlfriends of their newfound period of freetime. To which the girls had a similar agreement. Meanwhile in Canterlot, Celestia had just finished hearing Burst tell her about his recently declared vacation period. She slowly smiled as the thought circulated in her head. But she instantly frowned when she remembered how much her royal duties took up her life, and sighed. Luna noticed her sister's distress, and decided to engage her. "Sister? Is everything alright?" "No Luna." Celestia said sadly. "Burst just informed me that he and all his friends have all gone on vacation. And there's been nothing I want to do more than join him. Especially after his last battle." Celestia then held herself. "I can't think of any other time I've worried about him more than that time." Luna put a hand on Celestia's shoulder, and smiled. "Then go to him. I can handle both the day and night shift now. Especially with Moon handling the dream department now. Not to mention that assistant of yours, Raven, is quite proficient at her job. So things should go fairly smoothly. And something tells me Burst would definitely appreciate you spending a bit more time with him. Go to him. That's a royal decree!" Celestia giggled as she hugged her sister. "Thanks Lulu." Celestia then took to packing her bags. 'It's been so long since I've actually had some time-off. And I can't think of anyone better to spend it with.' Celestia thought to herself as she finished packing, and soon flew to Burst's house. She knocked on the door, and greeted Burst with a big smile. "Hi Burst!" "Celestia?!" Burst sputtered as he stumbled back a bit! "What are you doing here?" "Can't I join my boyfriend on vacation?" Celestia asked with a mischievous smile. "Don't worry about Canterlot. Luna's handling it." "Taking advantage of me taking up some of the workload are we?" Moon asked with a smirk. "Glad my work's paid off. Besides. I bet you've been wanting to share a bed with Burst again." Burst blushed while Celestia giggled. "Well, I can't lie. He does make a good pillow. Hope you don't mind sharing him." "Burst belongs to both of us." Moon said with a smile as she walked over and she and Celestia embraced Burst. "And there's no way we're wasting any moments with him." Burst smiled as he nuzzled against his girlfriends. "I just hope the rest of the guys are having as much fun as I'm going to." > Beauty and a Brain > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Nightfall Silver couldn't help but sigh as he woke up. As he got out of bed, Nightfall took a moment to remember the current events as he headed for the kitchen. In specific, the destruction of the Golden Oaks Library. It had been his home for only a short while, but he'd grown to love the place. Especially since meeting Twilight Sparkle. The Princess of Friendship. But it wasn't the fact that the library was destroyed that saddened Nightfall. No. What truly saddened him was Twilight constantly looking out from the balcony and gazing down at where her library once stood. 'That was her home for as long as she's lived here.' Nightfall thought as he approached Twilight. "Morning Twilight." Nightfall said with a smile as he offered the coffee he'd made. "Gotcha something." Twilight snapped out of her sad reflections, and managed a small smile. "Oh. Thank you Night." 'She smiled at me. Making progress.' Nightfall thought to himself. "So....whole lotta room for more books, right?" Twilight's smile still held. "Well, I was always running out of shelf space back at..." Twilight's smile then faded. 'ACK! She's back into her recent bad memories!' Nightfall mentally panicked! 'Recovery! Recovery!' "I'm sorry. That was insensitive of me." Nightfall said as he looked to the floor in shame. "I..shouldn't have brought it up. Especially since the memories are still fresh in your head." Nightfall then turned to leave. "I...better go." "Wait." Twilight then grabbed onto Nightfall's hand. "You didn't mean to bring up any unpleasant memories." She then sighed. "It's true that some of my best memories come from my old library." Twilight then held herself, and wrapped her wings around herself as well. "It's where I first met my friends. And from there, so many memories were made. And now..." Twilight gazed down at the remains of the Golden Oaks Library. "The place where those memories were born is dead." Twilight then felt Nightfall wrap his arms around her. Nightfall closed his eyes as he held Twilight close. "I know how much it hurts. Seeing a part of your past be destroyed. Especially one that holds so many memories for you." Nightfall tightened his embrace. "For me, it was when my dad died in a lab accident." Twilight's head perked at hearing this as Nightfall continued. "I was crushed. He was my hero. My idol. He got me to be such a techno-geek in the first place. But then, I remembered some words of wisdom he left to me when I was just a little kid. He told me that memories live forever. Even when the item they're tied to is long gone. And by keeping the memory alive in our hearts, we can move forward." Nightfall then opened his eyes, and saw Twilight staring into his eyes. His grey eyes peering right into her violet ones. "I know it's probably too soon for you to move on, but it's just something I thought you should know. Because I'm here to help you move on when you're ready. Every step of the way." "Night..." Twilight said as she turned around to face Nightfall before wrapping him in a tight hug. "Thank you. It means a lot to know you care about me so much." Nightfall slowly smiled as he returned the hug. "No problem Twilight. I'm always here. Night falls after Twilight, doesn't it?" Twilight giggled. "That your best line?" "Is it good?" Nightfall asked nervously. Twilight smiled as she put her forehead to Nightfall's. "It's sweet. But I think we could both do with a little time away from Ponyville. Especially after the topic of our conversation." "Might I suggest filling our stomachs?" Nightfall asked with a chuckle. "Why not take a trip to Canterlot? I know this great donut place." Twilight giggled. "Actually, I know the exact place you're talking about. I should know. I've made countless trips to it." Twilight then spread her wings. "Care to fly with me?" "I'd love to." Nightfall said with a smile as he and Twilight flew off to Donut Joe's. And not five minutes later, Nightfall and Twilight were enjoying a plate of donuts. "No matter how many times I finish one of these donuts, I just want more." Twilight giggled. "Yeah. They are that good. Which is why I make it a point to get a carry-out box whenever I make a trip back to Canterlot." "Sweet! Literally and figuratively!" Nightfall said with a grin. "So where would you like to head after this?" Twilight blinked and smirked. "Nightfall Silver...are you trying to turn this into a date?" "Well...I was planning on asking you out. Eventually." Nightfall said as his face turned red! "It's just...a good opportunity came about after our talk this morning. And it was just too good to pass up." Twilight put her hand on Nightfall's. "To be honest? I couldn't think of a better time either. Besides, my parents were nagging me to find a special someone ever since Shining and Cadence got married. Now I can get them off my back on that area." "You can always count on me to be your hero." Nightfall said with a smile. "I've got the heart for it!" The pair shared a laugh before grabbing a carry-out box. "So, you never did tell me where you'd like to go to next." Twilight smiled. "I think a good book or two could help our stomachs settle." "The library it is." Nightfall said as he took hold of Twilight's hand before giving a small bow. "It'd be a pretty big honor for the cyber knight to escort the princess of friendship." Twilight blushed and smiled. "Then lead the way Sir Silver." A few minutes later, the couple was at the library. They had found a nice, cozy spot for themselves and their huge stack of books. The two sitting right next to each other, and sharing a glance when they took a break from the words on the pages to read each other's faces. Their smiles said more than enough to each other. Sure enough, Twilight decided to get more comfortable with Nightfall. Resting her head against his shoulder. Nightfall noticed, and smiled as put one of his arms around Twilight. The library's silence allowing so much to be said without a single word. After leaving the library, the two headed back to Twilight's new castle. "Night?" "Yeah?" "Thanks for a good first date." Twilight said with a smile. She then put a wing around Nightfall. "You know? I think this castle's starting to feel a lot less lonely." Nightfall smiled as he nuzzled against Twilight's cheek. "A knight's gotta stay by his princess, right?" "True enough." Twilight said with a giggle. "Hey. I was just about to head off to bed for a nap. Care to join me?" Nightfall smiled lovingly. "No problem." Nightfall and Twilight were soon in each other's arms. "You know? This day's been had a whole lot of firsts for you. But I think you're ready for the best first of all." Nightfall then caressed Twilight's face. "I find you enchanting. And...I love you Twilight." "I love you too Night." Twilight said with a fond sigh as she held onto Nightfall tightly. The two falling asleep in each other's arms. > Love is in Bloom > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Adagio yawned as she woke up. As per usual, she spared a glance at the flowers by her bed side and smiled. 'Venus put these here when me and my sisters returned.' Adagio then took a moment to inhale the scent of the flowers. 'Not to mention, he's the most bold suitor I've had in my lifetime.' Adagio smirked to herself upon recalling her first encounter with Venus Bloomer. He had come to CHS through the mirror portal from Equestria. Adagio had been basking in the adoration brought forth by the performance she and her sisters had performeed, and had decided to grace the crowd with another display of the voice granted to her by her pendent. Then, Venus suddenly started to dance with her as she sang. 'Half the people who tried courting me in the centuries I've been alive never had that much spirit in them.' Adagio thought fondly. 'I suppose that's what I find attractive about him. He and I share a love of being alive. Knowing that the time we live is our moment and no one else's.' Adagio then giggled. 'Not to mention he's the first one to give me a run for my money in the way of being a flirt.' She then smiled when Venus went shirtless. 'Of course, there ARE plenty of obivous reasons for our attraction as well.' Adagio then decided there was no longer any point in staying in bed all day. Plus, she never missed a chance to try and flirt with Venus ever since he was put in charge of watching over her. Sure enough, she saw Venus making breakfast. "Hope I didn't mess up any plans you had to serve me breakfast in bed." Adagio said with her trademark smirk. "Wishful thinking." Venus said with a smile. "I like it when you decide to grace me with your presence." Venus then chuckled as a thought came to him. "Then again, you do love being the center of attention." Adagio smirked. "You got that right." "Good. Now then, breakfast is ready." Venus replied. "I'll meet you downstairs." 'Heh. Venus sure is a card. The only one with true spirit.' Adagio thought. Meanwhile, Venus was thinking to himself. 'I'm glad I found Adagio.' A smile then crept across Venus's lips. 'She really makes me work for her. I like that.' Venus headed downstairs with breakfast in tow, and sat across from Adagio at the table. "So. I've got plenty of free time now that I'm on vacation. Anything you'd like to do?" "Hmmm." Adagio tapped her chin in thought. "It's quite the lovely day outside. A picnic sounds nice." Venus blinked. "You know? I expected something grand coming from a woman who's spent her life being in the spotlight." "Well, I've been giving things some thought." Adagio said as she looked down into her tea. The surface reflecting her contemplative gaze. "I've lived my life solely for myself and my sisters. Only caring about how much people could want me. My life was almost always in the fast lane. But after losing our pendents, I started to do some thinking after the anger of our defeat subsided. I'd never thought to slow down and enjoy a moment. So I figured, maybe now I can stop and smell the roses." Adagio then shot a sincere smile at Venus. "One in particular has a sweet scent to him." Venus smiled. "i know just the place for our little outing." And with that, the two polished off their breakfast before enjoying the house for a couple hours. "Having a recent villain attack really makes you appreciate the quiet moments. Doesn't it?" Adagio asked as she glanced out the window at what looked like a typical day. Venus nodded. "I won't lie. The last battle I had especially makes me grateful for moments of peace." Venus then stopped reading the newspaper, and smiled at Adagio. "Of course, it helps to have some lovely company to enjoy it with." "Even when you're not trying to match me, you just exude charm, don't you?" Adagio asked with a smirk. Venus shrugged. "I'm only doing it because you make me work for you. Before you came into my life, girls were throwing themselves at me. Each one of them nearly swooning the second I looked in their direction." Venus then frowned at the memory. "It was so boring." "Oh?" Adagio asked. "Why's that?" Venus sighed. "Tell me Adagio. When you gained the adoration of people under you and your sisters' spell, did it ever feel fulfilling? Did it make you feel whole?" "Well...." Adagio then brushed over the spot where her pendent once embraced her neck. "No. It felt empty. No matter how much a crowd screamed our names, how much they said they adored us, it never lasted. And before we knew it, we had to get more and more. Like there was a bottomless pit at our cores." Adagio then put her hands over her heart. "To be honest, I've never shared that with anyone." Venus had a sad smile as he gazed into Adagio's eyes. "Well, I guess you could say in some regards I felt the same being on the receiving end of all that female attention. But the reason it felt so empty to me was because it was so effortless. It felt so hollow because I didn't need to do a thing. And that made me feel empty inside too. Meeting the other Elements of Heroism partially filled that void because it gave me good friends. But some part of me still felt incomplete because I still wanted someone whose adoration I had to work for." Venus and Adagio looked directly into each other's eyes. "And I never found that someone until I saw you." Venus and Adagio both blushed as they peered into each other's souls. "I...think I should get the food ready for our picnic." Venus immediately set to work preparing the basket. Anything to calm the rapid beating of his heart. At the same time, Adagio was trying to calm her own heart as well. Fortunately for the both of them, they soon regained their composure. "So...are you ready to go Adagio?" "Oh! Y-Yeah! Just let me get my shoes on!" Adagio said with a nervous smile. "Alright. I'm good to go." Venus and Adagio head over to one of the hills around Ponyville. "You weren't kidding when you said you knew the perfect place." Adagio said as she looked over the view the hill gave them. "It's beautiful..." Venus scratched his head. "Well...this is only part of where we'll be dining." Venus then put his hand to the ground, and a mass of vines shot up and began to twist and bend! Not a few minutes later, a small castle of vines stood before them! "I know this is a simple date. But there's no reason why we can't have a grand view, right?" Venus then summoned a vine to drop down to them. "Hold onto me tight." Adagio nodded and wrapped her arms aroudn Venus as tight as she could. Venus then tugged on the vine, and they were zipped up to the top of the tower. Venus then set to work laying out the blanket while Adagio's heart caught up with the rest of her body. "Okay." Venus called to her. "It's all set. What do you think?" From the tower, Venus and Adagio had a view of the whole town, and the clear sky. "Going the extra mile, aren't we?" Adagio asked with a playful smirk. Venus smiled. "Well, you're worth the effort. C'mon. Let's eat." The two set about enjoying their lunch. "Hey, Venus?" Adagio asked. Venus swallowed his food before answering. "What is it?" "Oh. Nothing too important." Adagio said with a small smile. "It's just that whenever someone tried to win my affection, they'd usually shower me with compliments of how beautiful I am. Or make some sort of grand declaration. Always making such a spectacle out of it." Venus chuckled. "Well I can't shower you with compliments because they'd probably either be cliche, or ones you've heard before." "True enough!" Adagio said with a giggle. "But I meant what I said in the best way. Sometimes things need to be shown rather than told." Adagio then scooted closer to Venus. "And you've shown me plenty. Especially with that shirtless tactic." Venus smiled. "Funny. I could say the same about you and that swimsuit." "Then I guess neither of us have anything to hide." Adagio said with a sultry smirk as she brought her face closer to Venus's. "So why hold the tension any longer?" Venus slowly smiled as he put his hands on Adagio's hips. "You might've lost your singing voice. But I'm still under your spell." And with that, the two pressed their lips against each other. They were soon lost within the kiss in a matter of seconds. Adagio grabbing onto a portion of Venus's hair. "That's the spirit." Venus said with a grin as he broke the kiss. "What can I say?" Adagio said with a giggle. "We make each other feel alive." The two ceased their make-out session, and simply took in the view while holding each other close. "This is the first time I've really felt loved." Venus smiled as he tightened his embrace around Adagio. "It won't be the last." Venus whispered. "I've still got to show you how much I adore you." Adagio smirked. "Oh? How are you planning to do that?" "A hot bath with your name on it when we get home." Venus answered with a smirk of his own. And with that, Venus slowly deconstructed the vine castle and had a few vines lower him and Adagio to the ground. The second they hit the ground, Venus scooped Adagio up into his arms. "So is this the first time you've been swept off your feet?" Adagio giggled. "I never expected you to do it so literally." She then nuzzled against Venus's face. "But it's more than a welcome surprise. And it's also quite sweet of you to run me a bath. You know sirens love water. Of course, I'll need your assistance." "With what?" Venus asked. "Have you seen this mane?" Adagio said with a giggle as she motioned to her hair. "You'd be surprised the amount of time it takes to maintain these locks all by my lonesome." "You've done a good job so far." Venus said. "But I do so adore you." A few minutes later, Adagio was back in Venus's house soaking in the tub. Venus soon arrived and helped wash Adagio's hair. "You sure look at home in there." Adagio smiled. "Well, I was born in the sea. To me, any water feels like home. But this water in specific..." Adagio then reached for Venus's face and caressed it. "It feels like I'm where I belong since you're around. But it makes sense since your spirit makes me feel alive." "And being near you makes my spirit bloom." Venus said with a smile as he and Adagio shared a kiss. But unlike the earlier kiss on their date, both Venus and Adagio took their time to savor this kiss. Both of them enjoying how they completed one another. The two soon breaking their kiss for air. Adagio lightly blushed. "You know? This is the first time." "The first time what?" Venus asked. Adagio sighed. "The first time...I actually feel adored. I guess me and my sisters were going about it the wrong way." Adagio then looked into Venus's eyes. "Quality over quantity. And you're certainly a quality lover if I ever saw one." "Then you're experiencing something better than adoration." Venus said with a smile. "Now you know what love is." Venus then left Adagio so she could change. And soon enough, the two found themselves curling up on the couch together. Venus smiled down on Adagio's sleeping form. 'You'll always take center stage in my life.' > Puppy Love > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Fang yawned as he woke up. As per his wake-up routine, he scratched his ears, stretched, and wagged his tail. A smile upon his face. "Time to wake up Aria." Fang shifted into his wolf cub form, and dashed over to the couch. He wagged his tail when he saw Aria sprawled out on the couch snooring. Fang climbed up the couch, and treaded lightly over to Aria's face. He then licked her nose. Causing a few giggles to escape the middle siren sister's lips. Aria slowly opened her eyes, and smiled as she scratched Fang's head. "Never thought I'd be happy being woken up." Fang leaped back down to the floor as Aria decided to rise from the couch. "So who's in charge of the grub this morning?" "Narico." Fang answered with a wag of his tail before reverting to his true form. Grabbing a seat at the table and wolfing down his food. Aria couldn't help but chuckle at Fang's canine antics. "So what do you have in mind since you've got some downtime? Chasing your tail all day long?" "Well, I was actually planning on us going to the park." Fang replied after chugging his milk. "Thought you might like another chance to play with me in my cub form. You do seem oddly happy around it." Aria reached across the table, and scratched Fang's ear. "I can't help it. You're lucky I'm a sucker for puppy eyes." Aria smiled as she saw Fang's tail wag happily as she scratched his ears. "But I guess it all balances out with how happy you are when I decided to crank up the affection. C'mon. Let's go." Aria cleaned the plates, and Fang shifted into his wolf cub form. And with that, the two headed off to the park. Aria saw a stray stick lying around, an idea came to her. "Hey Fang?" Aria then waved the stick in front of Fang's eyes, and she smirked when she saw Fang's eyes zero-in on the stick. "You want it? Fetch!" Fang immediately bolted for the stick, and caught it in his mouth! He then ran back to Aria, and dropped it at her feet. Fang then came to a realization. "You couldn't resist, could you?" "Nope!' Aria said with a smile. "You're just too adorable in this form. So I just had to try getting you to go fetch." Fang was silent for a minute before wagging his tail again. "Can we do it again?" "Sure." Aria said as she scratched Fang's ear before resuming playing with him. Sure enough, the two wore themselves out and Fang had reverted to his true form. Both of them sprawled out on the grass. Aria then looked over to Fang. "...Thanks." Fang's ears perked at hearing this. "For what?" "Not giving up on making me smile." Aria replied. "I haven't actually smiled in a long time. Smirk? Sneer? Definitely. But smile? That's something I haven't done in a really long time." Aria then sat up. "No one's ever bothered to try and make me happy before. But you're the one that did try. It...means a lot. So thanks." Fang scooted over to Aria and nuzzled her. "You're welcome." Fang said with a loving smile. "Also...I kind of enjoy you snuggling with me." Aria said as she started to blush. "It's nice you know? Being close to someone." Fang nodded. "Sure is!" Fang then rested on Aria's lap. "Especially if you can make that other person happy." "Like you." Aria said with a smile as she stroked Fang's hair. "Good boy Fang." Aria closed her eyes. Enjoying the peace of the park, and the presence of Fang. "You are so gonna get extra belly rubs tonight." > Dive into the Heart > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ace was scratching his head in deep thought. It was no secret that he and Sonata liked each other. And Ace wanted to make things official with a date. But the main problem was what the date should be. 'Karaoke? No. That's way too insensitive.' Ace thought to himself. 'Especially since Sonata lost her voice. Just because she's not immortal anymore, that doesn't me she doesn't miss singing. Hmm. Most of the guys have gone on simple dates like lunch, dinner, or picnics. But I want to do something different from that. What to do? What to do?' Ace scratched his chin in thought. Then, an idea came to him when he spotted a bottle of the bubble bath mix that Sonata loved so much. Ace snapped his fingers in realization! 'Wait. That's it! I know the perfect date!' Ace headed for the kitchen, and saw Sonata cooking breakfast. Sonata noticed Ace, and immediately broke into a smile. "Mornin' Ace!" Sonata then placed the food on the counter. "Enjoying sleeping-in?" "Sure am." Ace said with a smile. "After all the craziness the guys and I have been through, this vacation feels earned." Ace grabbed a seat, and began eating. "Besides. Now we've got some decent time to spend together now." Ace said inbetween mouthfuls. Sonata beamed at hearing this. "Aww~! That's sweet of you!" Sonata then grabbed the seat right next to Ace, and munched away at her food. "So you need some help coming up with something for the two of us to do?" "No." Ace said as he shook his head. "I've already got a plan for us. But we'll need to take a train to get there. Hope you enjoy going to new places." Sonata smiled. "I'm just glad to be back home. Plus, we were always travelling about back in the world beyond that mirror. So I'm kinda used to moving all over the place. But so long as I can stay with you, I'm happy!" Ace blushed as his wings flared out at how cute Sonata was. "It...means a lot to hear you say that." Ace then shook his head. "Well, no sense leaving on an empty stomach. It'd be a shame to waste your cooking." The two then proceeded to finish breakfast, and were soon aboard the train to Manehattan. "Hey, Sonata?" "Hm?" Sonata turned her attention away from the window to Ace. "What's up?" Ace scratched his chin in thought. "What were some of your favorite creatures to look at when you lived in the sea?" "Hmmm." Sonata scratched her head, and soon snapped her fingers! "Oh! I really liked to see jellyish!" Sonata the sighed fondly. "I always found them to be cute." Ace smiled, and noticed the train was starting to pull into the station. "Here we are." Ace and Sonata exited the train, and Ace held Sonata bridal style. "Hold onto me. And keep your eyes closed." Ace then took to the air, and flew towards their destination. "Okay. You can open your eyes now." Sonata slowly opened her eyes, and gasped! Ace had taken her to an aquarium! "Ace..." "I know I can't actually take you to your old home Sonata." Ace said with a bashful smile. "But...that doesn't mean I can't make you feel like you're back home." Ace reached out to Sonata, and was soon scooped up in a tight hug! "This is the nicest thing anyone's ever done for me!" Sonata squealed as she held onto Ace tightly! Ace smiled. "You're welcome. But...I need to breathe..." Sonata promptly let go, and air returned to Ace's lungs. "I know I'm immortal now. But I still enjoy breathing freely. Well, let's go." Ace took Sonata by the hand, and they set about enjoying the aquarium. Seeing all the types of sea creatures made Sonata's eyes light up. Ace couldn't help but smile. Seeing Sonata happy made him happy too. Soon enough, they had seen all there was to see. Sonata even got a fridge magnet of a jellyfish. "Thanks for today Ace." Sonata said with a yawn. "I had a lot of fun." Ace smiled as he wrapped one of his wings around Sonata. "You're welcome." "Oh. Almost forgot." Sonata said sleepily as she craned her neck, and kissed Ace on the lips before falling asleep on the train ride home. "Thanks for making me smile." Ace said as he let out a yawn of his own before falling asleep as well. As soon as the train arrived in Ponyville, Ace carried Sonata home and laid her on the guest bed. Kissing her one the forehead before leaving. And as he left, a small smile crept onto Sonata's sleeping face. > Crystal Clear Heart > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dark Ice took a deep breath, and smiled. "This has been a long time coming." Ice grabbed his ticket for the train, and looked at his reflection. "Indigo's probably worried sick about me." Ice then looked at the floor, and a shape seemed to shoot up and materialize from his shadow. Dark Mist smirked at Ice. "And yet here you've been spending half an hour over your hair." "Hey. I'm not the one who can alter his appearance at will." Ice said with a frown. "Also, why did you choose to live in my shadow?" Ice's memories then drifted back to after he'd accepted Dark Mist. He'd thought that Dark Mist had just up and disappeared. However, Dark Mist now lived in Ice's shadow. Literally. Dark Mist shrugged. "Eh. It's roomy. Besides, I can live in any shadow. And it's not like I'm raiding the fridge every night." "Just don't go tripping up my date." Ice said with a frown. He then grabbed his jacket, and headed out the door as Dark Mist faded back into his shadow. Ice then smiled to himself as he boarded the Crystal Express. 'Hope Indigo doesn't think I'm dead.' Ice thought to himself as the Cyrstal Express sped towards the Crystal Empire. Soon enough, the train arrived in the Crystal Empire. "This place always shines. No matter how many times I see it, it never ceases to amaze me." Ice exited the train, and was met with a surprise. "Indigo?" Indigo Zap smiled. "Yo Ice!" She said with a wave. "I was hoping you'd stop by. Especially after that last battle you and the Elements of Heroism had against Tirek." Indigo then pulled Ice into a tight hug. "I know neither of us has to worry about losing the other. But that doesn't make me worry about you any less." "Isn't that supposed to be my job?" Ice asked with a smirk. "C'mon. Let's go have a good time." Indigo giggled. "Right. That's the whole point of you coming all this way to see me." Indigo took Ice by the hand, and the two of them headed off to see the sights of the Crystal Empire. However, unbeknownst to the couple, they were being watched by four figures. But Indigo and Ice were too busy enjoying their date to notice. Indigo showed Ice around the empire's sights. Their first stop was the statue of Spike that had been constructed in the dragon's honor. Next on the list was one of the snowflower gardens, and lastly there was the Crystal Heart itself. "Huh. Just seeing it makes you feel warm inside." "Yeah." Indigo said with a fond smile. "Just wait until the Crystal Fair. The whole empire looks like its glowing. Especially since there's so much love and hope in the air." Indgio then gripped onto Ice's arm tightly. A light blush spread across her face. "Kind of like what you do for me." Ice felt his heart beat faster as he slowly wrapped one of his wings around Indigo. "You do the same thing for me with being the Sapphire Maiden. Sapphires tend to bring peace of mind. When I'm with you, I feel like everything's right with the world. Also...I certainly wouldn't mind keeping you warm." Ice was about to go for a kiss, but his stomach growling interrupted the moment. Prompting a nervous chuckle from him. "I guess our full hearts distracted us from our empty stomachs. Let's grab a bite to eat." However, as they left, Dark Mist briefly popped up from Ice's shadow and spied the figures following Ice and Indigo. Sure enough, Ice and Indigo were sitting at a table eating away and enjoying each other's company. And once again, Dark Mist had noticed the same four figures following the couple. Wasting no time, Dark Mist slithered across the ground in his shadow form, and exposed the four figures! Indigo recognized the four people. "Sunny? Sour? Lemon? Sugar Coat? What're you four doing?" "Tailing your date." Sugar Coat answered bluntly. Ice blinked. "Why? Why would you do this?" "Because Indigo's our friend." Sour Sweet answered with a smile before instantly scowling. "And I'll personally mess you up if you break her heart!" "O-kay." Dark Mist said with a shocked expression. "This one's got a bit of crazy to her. I'm goin' back in the shadows." And with that, Dark Mist retreated back into Ice's shadow. "Chill Sour." Lemon Zest said with a shrug. "Seems like Indigo's warming up Ice." Sunny Flare nodded. "That being said, we're done here." The four presumedly left. However, both Ice and Indigo saw the group peeking from a nearby bush. "We can still see you." The couple deadpanned. Prompting the group to flee instantly. Indigo sighed. "I'm so sorry about that. My friends can be a bit...observant." "No problem." Ice said with a shrug. "Just shows that they really care about you." Ice then smiled to himself. "Heck, I can picture my brothers doing something like that if we switched places." Ice and Indigo let out a laugh. "All the same, I hope you had a good time today." Indigo smiled. "I did. It was really fun. You stopping by. But who says you need to leave right now?" Indigo then grabbed onto Ice's hand. "You said you wouldn't mind keeping me warm. Care to do that tonight?' Ice smiled as he grasped Indigo's hand. "No problem." That night, Ice slumbered peacefully. Holding onto Indigo tightly. Indigo couldn't help but nuzzle against Ice's chest. Promptly causing Ice to wrap one of his wings around her. 'Yeah. This definitely warms both our hearts.' Ice thought to himself. > Taking it Easy > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Applejack stirred in place. Right now, she was doing the one thing that she almost considered impossible. She was trying to sleep-in. She, the girls, and the guys were all on vacation. But she used to working hard most days. In fact, her family had pretty much enforced this period of relaxation on her. Applejack sighed as she tried with all her might to return to slumber. Fortunately, she caught a whiff of something coming from the kitchen. "Mac, Apple Bloom, and granny are out and about. So that leaves..." Applejack got out of bed, and saw Magnet North cooking breakfast. "Morning Applejack!" North greeted with a smile. "I take it you got bored of sleeping too?" Applejack chuckled. "True enough sugarcube." Applejack walked over to North and shared a kiss with him. "Mighty sweet of you to get breakfast ready again." "Well, I might've been planning on surprising you with breakfast in bed." North said with a slight blush. "But I suppose I at least succeeded with the first half." North pulled out a chair for Applejack, and noticed how restless she was. "You're...not quite used to having time off. Are you Applejack?" Applejack shook her head. "Not exactly. Around winter is when we've usually got a lot of freetime. But Ah guess that after that fight with Tirek, we could all use a bit of rest." Applejack stretched. "Though...Ah guess Ah've never been on vacation before. Livin' here on the farm all mah life." "Well, maybe I could teach you." North said with a small smile. "It'd be my pleasure." Applejack chuckled. "Guess Ah'll take you up on that North." The two polished off their breafast, and then set about strolling around town. "Um, North? Ah thought we were gonna do somethin' relaxing?" "Baby steps lass." North said with a smile. "Given how used you are to working so hard, it's best to take things at a slow pace." North took in a deep breath. "Besides. A little walk always help to settle your stomach after a meal." North then took Applejack by the hand. "I'm with you every step of the way." Applejack smiled and blushed at North holding her hand. "Ah know." With that, the two resumed the walk. "Sure is a nice day out." Applejack then tightened her hold on North's hand. "Especially with you around." Applejack then looked North in the eyes. "You know? I just realized something." "What's that?" North asked. Applejack smiled as her mind ran through the first day she'd met North and all the events that had passed since then. "Every time trouble rears it head over me and mah family, there you are. Always risking yourself for the sake of us. And you act like it's nothing. You ask for nothing. If that ain't noble, Ah don't know what is. Ah know you're an element of heroism. But..." Applejack then put her hands on North's shoulders, and rested her head on one of his shoulders. "You're my hero North." "There's a reason why I never asked for anything Applejack." North said as he closed his eyes, and put his hand over Applejack's. "It's because you given me everything I've ever wanted. A home. A family. But most of all..." North opened his eyes and looked Applejack in the eye. "You've given me someone to love. You're genuine, strong, and beautiful." Applejack's heart began to race. "North..." She then turned North around to face her. "C'mere sugarcube." Applejack pulled North into a deep kiss. A minute passed before Applejack broke the kiss with a blissful smile. "Just thought you'd like a little something as sweet as you are." Applejack then embraced North. "Actions speak louder than words North. And yours have come in loud and clear since the first time I met you." "Glad to know you're listening lass." North said with a loving smile as he returned the hug. "So. Anything else in particular you'd like to do today?" Applejack thought for a moment, and an idea came to her. "Ah've got a good idea of what to do next. But we'll need to head back home. And you'll want to wait for me a couple minutes. Ah guarantee you'll like it." Applejack led North back to Sweet Apple Acres, and headed outside. Not a few minutes later, Applejack returned clad in a swimsuit. "Well sugarcube? You like?" Applejack asked with a wink. North's face was flushed red. "I was right. You do know how to make strength look beautiful" North said as he took notice of Applejack's toned and built body from all the years of farmwork she'd done. "So...where to now?" "C'mon." Applejack said with a giggle as she took North by the hand. Upon reaching their destination, Applejack smiled. "Bet you weren't expecting to see this here now were you?" Applejack motioned to a small lake far past the orchards. "Well. No sense in stayin' put!" Applejack leaped into the lake! Creating a large splash! Applejack then popped up a second later. "C'mon North! The water's fine!" North scratched his head. "Uh...Applejack? I kind of...don't have...any trunks." "Well just lose your shirt and shoes." Applejack said with a pout. "Ah've jumped in here in shorts plenty of times." North took a deep breath. "Alright then." North slipped off his socks, shoes, and shirt, and jumped in! North surfaced a few seconds later. "I must say. This place sure seems like the perfect place to cool down after work." "Sure is." Applejack said with a smile as she swam over to North. She then ran a hand across his stomach. "Well Ah'll be. Looks like all that work you've been doing is paying off." Applejack then gazed lovingly into North's eyes. "Gotta say. Yer mighty cute when yer blushing." North smiled as his blush returned in full force. "You...look quite lovely yourself Applejack." North wanted to inch his face closer to kiss Applejack, but she tilted his head by the chin. "Just relax North." Applejack said with a loving smile. She then kissed North with all she had. "Feeling relaxed now sugarcube?" North returned the smile. "Best thing that's happened to me all vacation." And with that, North dived into another kiss. "You're pretty sweet yourself." Applejack giggled. "Maybe Ah should've brought some fizzy cider. That way we can really kick back here." Applejack then nuzzled against North's face. "But to be honest? Ah'm really comfy when you're around." > A Quiet Day > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Tyrannus was reading through the newspaper as usual. A small smile on his face when he glanced at Fluttershy curled up next to him reading one of her books on animals. Over the past couple of days, most Tyrannus's friends had gone on grand dates with their girlfriends. But Ty? He was more than content to merely stay at home with Fluttershy. After the last big battle against Tirek, it really made him enjoy his time with Fluttershy. He slowly wrapped one of his pterodactyl wings around her. Fluttershy smiled and nuzzled against the wing. "Thank you Ty." "No problem." Tyrannus said with a smile. "It's nice to have some time off. Means more quiet moments like this." Fluttershy then snuggled against Tyrannus. "Mhm." She then let out a content sigh. "No place I'd rather be. And no one I'd rather be with." "Am I really that comfy?" Tyrannus asked. Fluttershy giggled. "I can't help it. You're like a big pillow. Why do you think I hug you so much now that we share a bed?" "I guess I can't fault you there." Tyrannus said with a shrug. "Of course, you're pretty nice to hold on to yourself." Tyrannus went back to his book. Only to be interrupted by Fluttershy squealing excitedly a few minutes later. "Look!" Fluttershy exictedly pointed to a picture of a rare puppy. "Oh! It just looks so cute!" Tyrannus chuckled before wrapping Fluttershy in a tight hug. "Just like you." The two shared a kiss while they both looked over Fluttershy's book. > Sweet, Shadows, and Ships > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Akage watched in amazement as Pinkie scarfed down another cupcake in nearly a single bite. Making him wonder if it was a good idea to take Pinkie on a date to Sugar Cube Corner. "How you're not bouncing off the walls with all the sugar in your system, I'll never know. And it never ceases to amaze me." "Hmmm." Pinkie scratched her head in thought. "Maybe it's because all of my blood IS sugar?" Akage let out a small chuckle. "Well, it certainly explains why you're so sweet." "Awww~!" Pinkie cooed as she wrapped Akage in a tight hug. "You too Akage!" Pinkie then released Akage, and looked him over. "Y'know, I thought you being a ninja would be all serious." Akage smiled. "Well, my training made me a discisplined shinobi. But that type of demeanor is reserved for missions. In truth, everyone in my village is quite emotional. Especially since our whole clan is like a gigantic family." Akage smiled fondly as he remembered playing around with the other kids in his village. "Wow! You're close just like my family!" Pinkie beamed. Akage nodded. "True enough. But I suppose I've got a family here too. The guys, the other girls. But most of all, you." Akage looked Pinkie right in the eye. "Who better to make me smile than the Element of Laughter?" Pinkie smiled as she came to a realization. "I think the guys can say the same! Especially with how things are now!" "What do you mean by that?" Akage asked. Pinkie pulled out a list seemingly out of nowhere, and it held the names of all the guys and girls. Most surprising of all was that there were lines between each of the guys and girls. In specific, the lines were connecting the people who were currently dating. "Well, think about it. Inferno has Rarity. Steel's got Rainbow Dash. Tyrannus has Fluttershy. Ace has Sonata. Fang has Aria. Venus has Adagio. North has Applejack. Twilight has Nightfall. Ice has Indigo Zap. Burst has both Princess Celestia and Nightmare Moon. And you've got me. So it looks like there's gonna be some point where we'll all have faimilies of our own!" Pinkie then turned to the screen and whispered. "Don't worry! Shadow and Spike will get their ships in time!" "...Wow." Akage said in awe. "You really take your friends seriously." Pinkie just beamed before pulling Akage into another embrace. "I always take what makes me smile seriously." Pinkie then shared a brief, but sweet kiss with Akage. Akage just smiled blissfully as the two pulled apart. "The kiss wasn't that surprising, was it?" "...The best things in life are usually unexpected." Akage said with a chuckle. "That's why they're called surprises." And with that, the two resumed polishing off the remainder of the sweets before them. "After all. You surprised me. And I never expected to meet the love of my life here." Pinkie then silently put her hand over Akage's. Both simply enjoying the moment of peace they had with each other. > Sparring > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Steel was working up quite a sweet as he repeatedly punched at the tree he'd found to practice his hand-to-hand combat skills on. 'I know we're on vacation. But it doesn't hurt to get in a little bit of exercise.' Steel thought to himself. But he rolled out of the way when he heard something streaking toward the air towards him! "I was wondering when you'd drop by Dash." Rainbow Dash smirked. "Can't get the drop on you, can I?" "Not unless you're trained in stealth like Akage." Steel said with a shrug. "Still. You know how to give me a good fight. I really like that in a girl." Rainbow Dash then landed and got into a fighting stance. "Then let's see how you stack-up against me!" Rainbow Dash sped towards Steel with her first ready to swing! Steel raised his arms, and blocked the punch! Steel then kicked at Rainbow Dash's side! Only for Rainbow to drop to the ground and grab onto his leg! Rainbow Dash then tripped up Steel with her other leg! Steel quickly broke his fall with his arms, and propped himself up by launching a kick right at Rainbow Dash's face! Rainbow Dash took to the air to avoid the kick! "C'mon! That all you got?" "Haven't even started yet!" Steel shot back as he flew at Rainbow Dash! Grappling with her in the sky! "Not so easy tangling with someone who can keep up with you, is it?" Rainbow smiled. "Like that's gonna stop me!" "No. But this might." Steel said with a smirk as he tickled Rainbow Dash's wings! "Pffft! Ah ha ha ha ha! Stop! Stop it!" Rainbow Dash howled in laughter as the two of them slowly descended to the ground. As soon as Steel stopped, he was then looming over Rainbow Dash. "Looks like round one's mine." Steel said with a smile. Rainbow Dash pouted, but soon smirked as she lunged forward and began to wrestle Steel on the ground! The two tumbling as they rolled down the hill before landing in the field! Both of them panting from exhaustion. "...Sweet Celestia I love you." Steel said with an exhausted smile as Rainbow Dash lay beside him. "Never thought I'd find someone who could get me to slow down." Rainbow said with a weak smirk as she crawled on top of Steel. "But you did luck out by scoring such a loyal girlfriend. Care to show me how much you love me?" Rainbow Dash asked with a flirty smirk. Steel smiled. "It'd be my honor." And with that, the two began their make-out session. "Too bad there's no guy who could get the guts to ask you out. You're an awesome kisser." "Well, more like you're the only one who matches my coolness factor." Rainbow said with a chuckle. "Besides...I kinda like how you treat me." Steel wrapped his arms around Rainbow Dash. "Keep up this make-out, and I'll consider us more than even." "Hope you're ready for round 2!" Rainbow Dash said with a smirk as she resumed kissing Steel with all she had. > True Love Never Changes > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Cadence was sitting at the kitchen table, and let out a deep sigh. "Great. Aunt Celestia got to take a vacation, and she made it so that she doesn't have to worry about the citizens flocking to her. And me?" Cadence then stared at the ceiling with a frown. "I won't be able to venture five feet without getting mobbed by my subjects they love me that much. I wonder how my aunts deal with this?" "Yeah. The Crystal Sapiens really love us since our battle with the Umbrum." Shining Armor said as he took a sip of his coffee. "Heck, they even had to remodel the statue of Spike they made because he grew up. But I guess we really can't blame them." Shining's ears perked when he heard Chrysalis walking into the kitchen. "Oh. Morning Chrysalis." Chrysalis yawned as she grabbed a bowl, and poured some cereal into it. "Morning lovebirds." She said with a small smile as she grabbed a seat. "You know, I thought you'd have been used to more royal tastes." Cadence noted. Chrysalis shrugged. "I lived in a desert wasteland for all my life. Not exactly a wide range of food to expand my tastes. The only thing I've got a refined taste for is love." She then nuzzled against Shining Armor. "Especially the love from you two." Chrysalis then giggled. "I just realized you live up to your name Shiny." "What do you mean?" Shining Armor asked with a puzzled look. "You were my knight in shining armor when the Umbrum released." Chrysalis said with a wink. "Looks like Cadence wasn't the only one who had a fairytale ending." Shining Armor blushed as he looked to Cadence. "Aren't you going to do something about her flirting?" "Nope." Cadence said with a smile. "Your mine and hers now too. So you're just going to have to deal with double the affection." Cadence then got an idea. "Hey, Chryssy? You can still shapeshift, right?" Chrysalis nodded. "I can. I usually practice it in the mirror. Why?" "Well, we were hoping to have a regular day outside the castle. And we were hoping you could cast a group disguise over us so we can avoid getting mobbed by the people. So can you do it?" Chrysalis nodded. "Sure. But what do you want the disguise to be?" "Try making us all Earthbounds." Shining Armor replied. "And maybe change-up our colors a bit? Even if we change our type, we'd still be easy to spot with our color schemes." "Hmm. Give me a minute." Chrysalis said as she furrowed her brow in concentration. The three of them were soon bathed in a green magical aura, and opened their eyes as the magic died down. "Well? What do you think?" Chrysalis revealed that she now had Cadence's color scheme, Cadence had Shining's, and Shining had Chrysalis's. "Pretty decent palette swap, right?" Shining blinked as he looked himself over. "Maybe you and the changelings should have broken into the acting business. You could fit any design needed for a production. Plus, you'd all be great at stunt doubles." "Why thank you." Chrysalis said imitating a stage bow. "But after living with a mask for so long, I like my real face showing. So what's first on the list?" Cadence shrugged. "I guess we could grab take a stroll around the empire. Oh! Almost forgot!" Cadence flew upstairs, and soon returned with a bag of bits. "We're disguised, so we won't get stuff at the snap of our fingers. Better come prepared." And with that, the trio of royals took to the streets. As they walked, they couldn't help but notice how friendly the citizens were. "Odd." Chrysalis noted as she saw some changelings getting along quite well with some crystal-sapiens. "I thought the only reason the crystal-sapiens were so friendly was because the crystal heart amplified their positive emotions. But they're kind to even my people." Chrysalis then held herself. "Especially after...well, you know what." Cadence put a hand on Chrysalis's shoulder. "We do. But Heart Eater was literally driving you crazy. You had your people to think of. But now, I can see where your desperation came from. You wanted the best for your people. Much like how we want the best for our people now." "Cadence...it isn't that simple." Chrysalis said with a sigh as she shrugged of Cadence's hand. "I was a terrible leader. Burst Stream even pointed it out when he exposed me." Chrysalis looked to the sky. "So many better ways I could have ensured the prosperity of my people. Easier ways. A good leader considers all their options. Even in the most desperate of situations. Me? I caved into Heart Eater's influence. Treated my own people like tools. I honestly wouldn't blame anyone if they saw me as some sort of heartless monster. It's for the best I've abdicated my crown. I knew I wasn't ready to be queen when my mother passed away. I promised her I'd do a good job ruling. And look how that turned out." Chrysalis then felt herself being hugged by Shining Armor and Cadence. "But I guess it all worked out in the end. I know what love is now." Chrysalis closed her eyes and took in the warmth. "And I don't feel incomplete anymore." Shining smiled as he nuzzled against Cadence and Chrysalis. "Love isn't easy. But when you have it, don't let it go. It can scary, happy, sad, and axious all at once." "Shouldn't that be my line?" Cadence asked with a smirk. "Well, now it's turn for my 'feels' line. You don't need to change Chrysalis. Because when love's real, you don't need to hide. True love never changes." Chrysalis blushed and stumbled a little. "I appreciate this. But...I think I'm almost love-drunk. Literally." "Our bed back at the castle just might be the remedy for that." Shining said with a smile as he carried Chrysalis on his back as they returned to the castle. Shining Armor smiled to himself seeing his wives cuddling against him. 'Makes me wonder when we'll have little bundles of joy bouncing around to interrupt moments like these.' > You're My Treasure > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Rarity stirred from her slumber as she caught the scent of something cooking. She got out of bed, and found Inferno cooking breakfast. A sly smile graced Rarity's face as she strolled on over to him and wrapped her arms around his waist. "You didn't tell me you could cook darling. Any other secret talents you've been keeping from me?" Rarity purred. "You wish." Inferno said with a smirk as he kissed Rarity. "I was hoping to surprise you with breakfast in bed. But I guess I can't do either with you being awake now." Rarity nuzzled against Inferno's cheek. "Oh, don't worry darling. I'm certain there's a way you'll be able to make it up to me." Rarity then leaned into Inferno's ear and whispered. "I certianly wouldn't mind you serenading me during an evening." "Wouldn't mind giving you a private show." Inferno said with a wink. "You might wanna grab a seat. Breakfast's almost done. Hope you like pancakes." Rarity smiled. "That sounds wonderful Inferno." The two sat across from each other. Simply enjoying the other's company. "You know, I bet no one ever would have guessed I'd have fallen for the rockstar type. Though I must admit, I always had hoped for a handsome prince to sweep me off my feet. Not being romanced with a dragon." "Maybe your story's a twist on the classic fairytale." Inferno said with a loving smile. "Maybe this dragon sees you for the gem you are. Something that shouldn't be let go of." Inferno then caressed Rarity's face with one of his dragon-angle wings. "A treasure that only comes by once in a lifetime." Rarity took hold of Inferno's wing, and admired its new appearance. The scales now looked like black feathers, and the wings were still dragonic in frame. But the way it all came together just made Rarity marvel at it. As well as how soft the feather-scales were. "You certainly did save me from a vile prince." Rarity said with a loving smile as she closed her eyes. "But a dragon always protects its treasure." Rarity slowly opened her eyes, and gazed lovingly at Inferno. She then gripped Inferno's wing tighter. "Seeing you fight Tirek...made me afraid that I'd lose you. And made me realize just how much I love you Inferno. You were willing to give your life for me. Even for just the slightest chance that you could save me, you would fight. You've more than lived up to your potential as a lover. And because of that, I treasure you darling." "Well, Burst said it best when he went nightmare form." Inferno said with a smile. "When something precious is taken from a dragon, or something threatens what they hold dear, they'll go to any length to protect it." Rarity blushed. "I was right. You do know how to treasure a lady." The two polished off their breakfast. "So...anything in particular you want to do?" Inferno asked. "We've got plenty of days left for vacation. We might as well make good use of them." Rarity smiled. "Well. It just so happens that there's a fashion event going on in Canterlot that showcases some of my work. It could get boring standing around there all by myself." Rarity pulled Inferno's head closer to hers. "Care to keep me company darling?" "Rarity. I'm not letting you out of my sight." Inferno replied with a smirk as he and Rarity shared a kiss. "First, we'd better get dressed. And take all the time you need. I know you like to show-off." Inferno winked at Rarity before heading to his room and changing into his usual outfit. However, he decided to slip on the new coat he'd received after his ascension. "It's design is just like Burst's." Inferno noted as he smiled to himself. "I guess that makes me Rarity's dragon knight." Inferno soon exited, and waited for Rarity. Taking a moment to reflect on the history of their relationship. 'Hard to believe I fell so hard for her in just a single week.' Inferno thought to himself. 'Then again. It's easy to see why Spike had such a huge crush on her.' Inferno then frowned as he remebered how horrible Rarity had been treated by Blueblood at the Grand Gala. 'I still can't believe there's anyone that utterly disgusting who would treat her that awful.' Inferno was soon snapped out of his thoughts when he heard Rarity coming down the stairs. And he couldn't help but smile when he saw her. 'Well, good things are better when they're a rarity.' Inferno then offered his hand. "Ready to go?" Rarity giggled as she took Inferno's hand. "Lead the way darling." And with that, the two made their way to the train and headed for Canterlot. Rarity dozing off and resting her head against Inferno's arm. Inferno wrapped one of his wings around Rarity. About an hour or two later, the two arrived in Canterlot. "Hey. Rarity." Inferno said as he gently nudged Rarity awake, and pulled his wing away. "I can understand you needing beauty sleep. But it's rude to keep people waiting." Rarity's eyes fluttered open, and she stretched. "Mmmm. Thank you darling. Always nice to know you're always there when I need you. That being...well, always." "My pleasure." Inferno said with a smile as he and Rarity dpearted from the train. "We still have a couple hours before the event. And I don't know about you, but I could do with some lunch." Inferno nodded. "Sounds like a plan. I'll pay for it though." The couple soon found a restaurant to eat at, and grabbed a seat. However, Inferno noticed that Rarity's usual enthusiasm for Canterlot was strangely absent. "Hey, are you alright? Normally you're gushing about this city." "Oh. I'm fine Inferno." Rarity said with a dismissive wave. "It's just...after all of my previous experiences here, maybe it's not as glamorous as I had envisioned it during my youth." Rarity sighed. "The prince charming I had set my eyes on turned out to be an utter scoundrel. And now that I think about it, almost every high-class person here is horrid save for Fancy Pants. And then I started thinking about what you told me." Rarity slowly smiled. "You taught me who I should really make happy. You've come to my rescue on more than one occassion. The only thing I regret about you is that I didn't see who I was looking for right under my nose." Rarity then placed her hand on Inferno's. "That lovely fire within your heart burns so bright. So warm. Especially when you hold me. Never let it die." Inferno smiled. "It won't. And neither will I. You know. Me being immortal now that I'm an Avatar." The two enjoyed their meal, and soon made their way to the event location. It made Inferno glad to see Rarity so happy. However, their happy moment soon came to a screeching halt. Specifically because a certain spoiled brat of a prince spotted the two of them together. "YOU!" Blueblood screamed as he pointed at Inferno! Blueblood stomped over. "I still remember how you humiliated me at the gala! Did you really think I'd not hold that against you?!" Blueblood got in Inferno's face, and scowled at Rarity. "It seems that common wench has found her true place with a beast like you." Blueblood said with a sneer. "....What did you just call her?" Inferno asked coldly. Blueblod sneered. "You heard me. A common wench. She obivously doesn't appreciate a fine specimen such as myself." Blueblood then tossed his hair in annoyance. "So of course she'd find happiness with a beastly mongrel like you." "And yet I've done more for Equestria in a few years than you have in your entire life." Inferno replied with a frown. "But you know what? I don't care what you call me." Inferno then punched Blueblood in the gut! "But NOBODY insults my girlfriend like you just did. You want to settle things Bluebrat? C'mon." Inferno summoned his sword Ignitis Fang. "Maybe I didn't hit you hard enough last time for you to learn a lesson." Blueblood scowled as he constructed a sword from his magic, and got into a dueling stance. "Then prepare yourself." Blueblood thrust his sword at Inferno, but Inferno leaped over and kicked Blueblood in the back! Making the spoiled prince stumble forward! "You'll regret that!" "Yeah. Sure I will." Inferno said with a smirk as he readied his sword. "Let's just see how your 'elite training' stacks up against me." Blueblood wasted no time charging at Inferno! Only for Inferno to trip him up, and use Ignitis Fang to knock the sword construct out of Blueblood's hands before pointing Ignitis Fang right in Blueblood's face! The tip of the blade mere inches away from him! Blueblood quaked in place seeing the sword mere inches away from his face! "Please! I'll do anything! J-Just don't scar my face!" "Scar you? C'mon dude! You haven't gotten me that mad." Inferno said with a frown. He then cut Blueblood's pants to ribbons revealing his boxers. "I'll just humiliate you. Now get!" And with that, the spoiled brat took off screaming all the way! "That'll teach him." Inferno said with a nod. "Now, where was-" Inferno was caught off-guard by Rarit leaping into his arms. "Yep. This feels about right. Want me to carry you all the way to the event?" Rarity nodded as she nuzzled against Inferno's cheek. "Naturally, darling." And with that the two headed for the event. Things went smoothly enough, and the couple was soon on the train back home. "You know? I just thought of the perfect reward for you when we got home Inferno." "What's that?" Inferno asked. Rarity giggled. "You'll see~!" Inferno shrugged. "Well, knowing you, you won't disappoint." Soon, they were back home at Carousel Boutique. And Inferno had changed into his sleeping clothes. Only to hear a knocking on his door, and see a note slipped under his door. Inferno took the note, and read it. "Meet me upstairs." Inferno blinked, and headed for Rarity's room. And his face nearly went red and his wings shot out when he saw Rarity in her sleepwear. "Good of you to be punctual darling." Rarity said with a smile. "Don't be shy. Come closer. You made me feel so loved today. Now? I think you deserve some appreciation." Inferno slowly headed towards the bed. "So...what now?" "That's easy." Rarity said with a giggle as she crawled up to Inferno. "Now I show you how much I treasure you darling." And with that, Rarity promptly began to make-out with Inferno. Soon breaking their kiss for air. "Don't you dare let me go." Inferno smiled as he put one of his hands on Rarity's hips, and another on her back. "Wouldn't dream of it Rarity." Inferno then resumed their make-out session. The two soon laying beside each other. Inferno stil holding Rarity tightly. Wrapping one of his wings around her. "I love you so much Rarity. Your heart's my treasure." "And your heart is mine." Rarity said with a blissful smile as she nuzzled against Inferno's bare chest. "And I'm never letting go of it." And with that, the two drifted off to sleep in each other's arms. > A History of Firsts > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Burst Stream stirred in his bed as he felt a ray of the morning sun hit his face through a crack in the blinds. Burst opened his eyes, and smiled at the sight that greeted him. He was fit snugly between Celestia, and Nightmare Moon. The two princesses holding him tightly and still slumbering with blissful smiles upon their faces. Burst liked holding onto his girlfriends like this, and almost didn't want to get up. Almost. The three of them were living at his house currently due to the vacation, but that was no excuse for Burst to lie about. 'Someone's gotta make sure we've got meals to eat.' Burst thought to himself as he cautiously made his way out of the embrace of literal goddesses, and headed for the kitchen. 'Think I'll make something simple.' Burst grabbed a large bowl, and some pancake mix from one of the cupboards, and a package of bacon and a carton of strawberries from the fridge. 'Time to get to work.' Burst set to work getting the pancake batter ready, and getting the rest of the food ready. All the while, he couldn't help but hum to himself as he worked. However, he was so caught up in his efforts that he didn't notice that he had a visitor. "You never told me you had experience in the kitchen." Celestia said with a giggle. "Celestia?!" Burst exclaimed as he spun to face her. "Weren't you sound asleep just a few minutes ago?" Celestia stretched. "I got bored sleeping. Besides, if I'd stayed in bed, I wouldn't have the chance to see you at work. And I figured you could use an extra set of hands." "You know I can't say no to any chance to be with you." Burst said with a smile. "The only thing I haven't prepared yet's the straberries. I've got my hands full with everything else." Celestia giggled. "Shouldn't be a problem." Not a few minutes later, the two had managed to finish preparing breakfast. "You know, I don't think there's been a hero quite like you in all of our history." "Well, there's only one me." Burst said with a smile. He then scratched his chin in thought when he saw Moon enter the kitchen. "Come to think of it, both of my relationships with the two of you are a history completely made of firsts. Celestia, you were my first kiss, my first date, and I'm the first one to just look at you as a regular person." Moon smiled. "And in my case you'd be the first one to not be sacred of me. Plus all those things Celestia's been for you. Much like this is the first vacation I've had." "I guess you could say this is my first vacation too." Celestia said with a small smile. "I can't thank you enough for taking over Luna's dream duties. It really allows for Luna and I to spend more time together. Granted, she still presides over the night court. But now, she gets to enjoy the day with me two." Celestia then looked thoughtfully at her coffee. "I don't think I've been this happy before." Moon smiled. "And to think. It all started with that promise Burst made to you." She then looked at Burst. "Hard to believe such a simple act had such a grand impact. If it weren't for you, this moment wouldn't be happening. "You...really think I did something that important?" Burst asked as he blushed lightly. "Truth be told, I was just trying my best to keep my promise. Everything else from then on was a happy consequence of that. I wanted to be a hero since I was a little kid, but I never expected it to actually happen. Much less win the hearts of two goddesses." Celestia smiled. "Well. Maybe it also helps that you're quite handsome." She then smirked. "I certainly wouldn't have minded that dream we had a while back becoming a reality." "Hasn't it already come true?" Moon asked with a smirk. "Especially since last night. I can tell we both enjoyed holding Burst close. And he certainly didn't mind being stuck between two heavenly bodies." Moon then turned her gaze to Burst. "You're so warm my precious light." Burst blushed as he smiled. "Well...feeling like I'm melting in your embraces might have something to do with that." "Or that heart of yours." Celestia said with a giggle. "I still remember hearing it's beat before falling asleep with you in my arms during Hearth's Warming. You also gave me that lovely necklace as a present. But that pales in comparison to the first gift you gave me." Moon tilted her head. "And what present was that?" "Well, it was a few years before you and Luna returned. I was crying at the moon, and then Burst snuck his way towards my room. He had no idea I was the princess." Celestia said with a fond smile. "He knew the truth about your banishment, and he asked me if I knew about the truth too. Any other child would have said the story had a happy ending, and I said I did. But what surprised me is that he told me that the story didn't end happily. And that he would give it a happy ending. He didn't even know I was the one he was making a promise to. And then, he gave me a plushie Optimus Prime he was carrying. He said it would help me sleep better. And I've held onto it ever since. I still keep it by my nightstand. Holding it close makes me feel like Burst's with me." "Aww~! That's so adorable!" Moon cooed before looking in Burst's direction. "It figures you've been such a sweetheart since an early age." Burst beamed at the compliment. "What can I say? I'm prone to doing grand gestures without knowing it." Burst polished off the last of his food, and rinsed his dishes. "If either of you need me, I'll be in the shower. And as much as I'd like one or both of you to join me, it's only big enough for one. Sorry." And with that, Burst stopped by his closet to grab his usual outfit and took it with him to his shower. Moon sighed. "Well, that's to be expected." "Hmm. I thought Burst would've used some of the bits he was rewarded for his heroics to upgrade his house." Celestia noted. "All those battles, and he's happy just coming back to his regular house. I've enjoyed my time here, but I do wish his bed was a bit bigger so we could have a bit more room while sharing it." Moon smiled. "Well, that's just Burst for you. He's happy being where he feels at home. And me? I feel at home when I'm just plain happy to be where he is." Moon then met Celestia's gaze. "And thanks to this vacation, I'd say you're starting to feel the same way." "Can you really blame me?" Celestia asked with a giggle. "It's not making time for a relationship while being the co-ruler of a kingdom. In fact, before you came back into my life, Burst and I rarely had time for dates. So whenever I had some free time, we made sure to make the most out of any date we could go on." Celestia then smiled at Moon. "But thanks to you, this vacation's become possible. You've not only made Luna's duties easier, but mine as well ever since you took over as the princess of dreams. And in a way, it's thanks to you that I've grown closer to Luna. Especially when both of you were banished to the moon." Celestia's smile faded slightly at the mention of that dark chapter in her life. "They say you never know what you have until it's gone. And I truly knew what I had with Luna being taken from me for so long. Something I only realized because you were created. And I mean this from the bottom of my heart when I say it." Celestia got up, and wrapped Moon into a tight hug. "Thank you. For helping me learn from my mistakes. For bringing me and my sister closer, and my first meeting with my dragon knight." Moon slowly smiled as she returned the hug. "I've much to thank you for as well. You're literally the whole reason I was born. And in a way, I met Burst because of you too. Because of you, I found my precious light. You know? It's odd. Whenever we're feeling down, or when we're in some sort of trouble, there's Burst. Right by our sides. Always fighting with all he has, and however he can." "That's just who he is." Celestia said with a smile. "He said he always wanted to be a hero. And thanks to us, his dream's come true. So in a way, the three of us are all responsible for each of us growing and completing each other." Celestia then had an idea. "You know? Nobody said our vacation had to be confined to here. And I know just the place to move it to." Moon smirked. "Go on. I'm hanging on ever word." "Well...I might have had a little hideaway built for when things get too stressful." Celestia said with a wink and a mischievous smile. "I haven't made too much use of it, but now definitely seems like as good a time as any to break it in. We can make plans to leave for it as soon as we're all packed and dressed." Moon smiled. "Sounds like a plan." Soon enough, Burst walked out of the shower clad in his signature outfit. However, Moon took notice of Burst's hair. "Huh. You didn't tell me you were growing your hair out Burst." "Hm?" Burst stopped by the mirror. "Oh. I just haven't made any time to get it cut yet. Huh. Come to think of it, it actually looks a bit nicer. Anyway, shower's all yours." Celestia smiled. "Burst? Moon and I were discussing about a change of location. I've had a little place built for getting away from it all. And now seems like the best time to break it in. Interested?" "Sounds great." Burst said with a smile. "Just gotta pack up my suitcase." And with that, Burst set to packing up some clothes. Moon also packed up a bag with some of her clothing as well. Sure enough, the three were dressed and Celestia led them as they flew towards the vacation home she had built for her. Both Burst and Moon were in awe at the sight of it. It was essentially a small mansion. "Whoa." Moon took in the estate, and nodded. "You spared no expense." "Benefits of royalty." Celestia said with a shrug. "Well? Are you two going to admire it all day, or actually head inside and enjoy it?" Wasting no time, the three headed inside. Burst and Moon set their bags down in their rooms. "Hope you don't mind, but I was hoping the three of us could share my bed." Burst blushed a little. "Trust me. I don't mind in the least." "Excellent!" Celestia said with a smile. "I'll be by the pool shortly. And I certainly wouldn't mind having some company." Celestia winked at Burst. "Well, I'm off to get changed." '...I am about to witness a sight most people would kill for.' Burst thought with a smile as he left to change into his trunks. A few minutes later, and Burst made his way to the pool. He was amazed by the size of it, but his eyes were soon captivated by another sight. That being Celestia in a yellow bikini. "...If this is a dream, don't wake me." Burst was soon pinched by Moon. Who was also dressed for the pool. "Ow!" Moon giggled. "What? At least you know you're not dreaming now." A sultry smirk then crossed her face. "Of course, that just means it's a dream come true for you." "You would know, wouldn't you?" Burst asked with a smile. "Well, no sense in keeping either of you waiting. Cannon ball!" And with that, Burst leaped into the pool! Making a splash upon hitting the water! Surfacing a few seconds later! "Ah! The water's awesome!" "Glad to see you're having some fun." Celestia said with a smile as she slipped into the water. "But you've struck first. Now it's my turn!" Celestia then splashed Burst! Burst smirked as he shook off the water. "Oh, it's on now!" However, the two were to busy splashing each other to notice the wave Moon had generated with her magic. And it soon crashed down on the two of them. "You forget that the moon controls the tides." Moon said with a triumphant smirk. Only to get splashed in return. "Haven't had enough yet, have you?" And with that, Moon joined the fray in full force. The splash battle ended with all three combatants floating on the surface of the water. "I won't lie. This is really nice." Burst sighed happily. "Yeah. Can't argue with that. Just the three of us here. To be honest, just the three of us together is nice period." Burst then felt his stomach grumble. "I don't know about you two, but I think the flight here combined with our little swim's built up my appetite." "Lunch does sound like a good idea." Moon said with a smile as she climbed out of the pool. "Hope you've got good stuff in the fridge Celestia." Celestia smiled. "Trust me. You won't be disappointed." Celestia and Burst followed Moon into the kitchen, and quickly prepared lunch. "So how are you enjoying my home away from home so far?" "It really is perfect for a vacation." Burst said as he took a bite out of his sandwich. "Wonder what else you had built in this place." "I may or may not have a private movie room." Celestia said with a smirk. "Hope you don't mind sharing a seat with me and Moon." Burst smiled. "Sounds great. Hope you've got a good movie library." "Burst? She probably has the ultimate movie library." Moon said with a smile. "So what's first on the screening list?" Celestia smiled. "Burst's new weapon gave me an idea of what to start with." And with that, Celestia led Burst and Moon to her movie room and put on the movie. Both she and Moon snuggled against Burst as they grabbed a seat on the couch. Burst just smiled, and put his arms and wings around both of them as the title card rolled. The three sat there for the duration of the movie. Snuggling against each other as they found comfortable spots on the couch. Sure enough, the movie came to an end. And Burst tried to get up and leave. Only for Celestia and Moon to tighten their hold on him. "Hey, where's this coming from?" "Oh. Sorry." Celestia said with a blush. "It's just...we don't want to let you go." Celestia then looked down in thought. "Especially since your first battle against Tirek." Moon rested her head against Burst's shoulder. "We were so scared of losing you. Seeing you hurt so badly, it tore at us. All Celestia and I could think about while we were imprisoned in Tartarus." Moon and Celestia then tightened their holds on Burst. A few stray tears falling from their eyes. "I don't think either of us can really imagine a life without you." "And you'll never have to." Burst said. "I'm a full Avatar now. Like you two." He then wrapped Celestia and Moon in a hug from his wings. "We literally have all of eternity together. And there's no one I'd rather spend the rest of my immortality with." Burst then kissed Celestia and Moon. "I love you both so much. Nothing's ever going to change that. Both of you are why I'm here now." Celestia and Moon smiled lovingly and kissed Burst in return. Burst returned the smiles in kind, and nuzzled them. "Want to watch the sunset? That's the only way I can see this being more romantic." Celestia and Moon nodded. "Sounds perfect." They said in unison. The three of them headed out to the balcony, and smiled as the sun set beyond the horizon. And with that, the day started to draw to a close. They made a pizza from scratch, and Burst soon washed off and changed into his sleeping clothes minus a shirt. "This day's been perfect." Burst thought out loud as he headed for Celestia's room, and crawled onto the bed. "No way it could get better than this." "Oh, we'd beg to differ." Moon said with a sultry smirk as she and Celestia surprised Burst. Burst's wings instantly shot out upon seeing Celestia and Moon in little more than night gowns. "I think we made him speechless. Another chapter in our history of firsts." Burst blushed! "You two really want to take things that far?" "Trust us Burst. We really do." Celestia said as she and Moon climbed into bed. "Besides. I'm pretty sure part of you wants to continue from where we left off on that dream." Celestia then placed one of her hands on Burst's chest, and a seductive smile crept onto her face. "And, it's been far too long since I've held a lover in my arms." "....I'm not sleeping tonight. Am I?" Burst asked with a small smile. Moon giggled. "Do you really want to miss out on this?" "Not in the least." Burst said as he pulled the covers over them. The next morning Burst's eyes fluttered open, and he couldn't help but smile at Celestia and Moon holding him close. He almost wanted to get up. Almost. Burst smiled as he settled back into their embrace. Celestia and Moon noticed, and happily snuggled against him. They still had plenty of vacation time left. Today? Today would be solely focused on cuddles. > Epilogue > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Luna sighed happily as she looked over Canterlot. She'd been enjoying the more active role she'd been granted due to Celestia going on vacation. Not to mention she'd certainly gotten used to people coming to her for advice or approval. However, she could do without all the paperwork. Fortunately, Celestia left a note to message any and all paperwork to Twilight. Needless to say, she was enjoying more time in the spotlight. And everyone really seemed to enjoy her work with the night sky. "Such a wonderful night." Luna said with a smile. She then took to the sky, and began her nightly fly over the city. However, she soon spotted a familiar figure on a rooftop. It was the same young man she'd seen the night Sombra and Hope had been ambushed. Luna scowled, and immediately landed on the rooftop. "I must say. Your art is quite lovely." Blitz said as he looked up at the moon. "Such beauty could only be crafted by a goddess." Luna immediately summoned her Celestial Arm. "Praise of my night will get you no slack." Luna then got into a fighting stance. "Why did you attack Sombra and Radiant Hope?!" "Why not?" Blitz Surge asked in return. "I know as well as you do that the former tyrant who ruled the Crystal Empire with an iron fist must be made to own up to what he's done." Luna's scowl deepend. "He already has! And he was working to do better. He was trying to redeem himself for what he's done! To show he's changed!" "Is that so?" Blitz Surge asked. "Could it be that you sympathsize with him? Having your worst mistakes being shown to you and realizing the error of your ways?" "The Elements of Harmony worked to purify me and teach me." Luna snapped. "What you did was essentially put Sombra through his worst fears all over again! What right do you claim that could possibly justify your actions?!" Blitz slowly smiled. "That's exactly my right. Justice. You of all people know that redemption is something earned. Especially after your banishment. I merely wished to educate the former tyrant. As well as have him experience the pain of those he had wronged. Now that I've done that, I've no reason to raise my blade against him." "I...suppose there is some merit to your logic." Luna said with a cautious glare. Still keeping her katana, Waking Dream, held at the ready. "But don't think your flattery will earn you less of a punishment." Blitz chuckled. "Oh trust me. I don't expect any lessening of a punishment for my actions. In some regards, you and I are alike. Both of us have a fondness for the night." Blitz then returned his gaze to the moon. "Both of us overshadowed by those we share blood with. And we both believe in a strong sense of right." "And just who among your family eclipsed you?" Luna asked with a puzzled look on her face. Blitz shrugged. "That's of little importance now. But I must thank you all the same for gracing me with your presence." A small smile then crept across his face. "You truly do look the most radiant at night. Beauty that could stir madness within the heart." "Not many have spoken of my beauty often." Luna said with a slight blush. Blitz walked up to Luna, and kissed her on the cheek! "Such a shame. Farewell. Princess of the Night. I look forward to our next encounter." And with that, Blitz teleported away! Looking at the moon throught he window in his home. "I know you'll be watching me."
