> Toola's First Paint Set > by Creativa-Artly01 > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > Chapter 1 > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- It was a sunny day as the birthday song floated through the air from Toola Roola's home. "Happy birthday Toola!" exclaim her parents. "Happy tenth birthday, baby girl!" They exclaim. "Thanks, mom, thanks, dad!" replies Toola with a smile. Her father then goes off into a back room and pulls out a very big, round box and places it in front of his daughter. "Open it," says her father Splatter Paint. "Go on." Toola's eyes widen and she begins to unwrap the gift. Once she pulls off the lid, her eyes go even wider and she lets out a squeal. "A paint set! Just what I always wanted! Thanks, mom! Thanks, dad!" She says as she embraces her parents in a hug. "You're welcome," reply her parents as they smile down at her. "We thought it was time to give you this gift. You're responsible. You're very responsible. We knew you were ready." "I will definitely put them to good use," replies Toola Roola. "I can guarantee that much." She then goes and pulls the palette, brushes, paints, and small Eisel out of the box. She then goes and grabs a canvas out of her art studio and gets to work on a masterpiece. She paints for hours on end. She uses reds, browns, blues, greens, yellows, golds, silvers, and purples along with every other color imaginable. She uses several different techniques as she paints. Her parents smile as they watch her work. Toola continues to work on the painting for several more days, putting all her tools-new and old to work. She uses brushes, her hooves, Q-tips, and even straw and splatter painting. Once the background is done and dry, she begins to put the vase and flowers onto the canvas, using pale yellows, pale pinks, pale purples, and light blues. A few days later, her dad comes to her with a flier. He shows it to her and her face lightens. "Really?" she says to him. "You'd let me enter the Young Foals Art Show!" Her eyes widen. "Of course I would," replies Splatter Paint with a smile. "The painting you're working on right now is sure to win you first place. I just know it!" "Thanks, daddy!" replies Toola hugging him. "Thank you so much!" "You're welcome, sweetheart," replies her father as he strokes her mane. He then leaves the room and lets her get back to work. Now that she's alone, she gets back to work on perfecting the vase and flowers. She smiles as she works, stopping on occasion to blow her bangs out of her face or to pull her mane back into a ponytail. She can't wait to finish her work so she can enter it in the Young Foals Art Show at the end of the week. > Chapter 2 > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- A few days later, Splatter Paint and Toola arrive at the Young Foals Art Show and he helps her set up her newest painting. She smiles as she helps him get it onto her display Eisel. Once it's up, she gets into position and awaits the judges and her father returns to his truck and heads off to work at his woodcarving business. He'll be back to get her in a few hours. A few minutes later, after judging several other foals, the judges approach Toola's stand. As they begin to judge her painting, their jaws drop. They're dumbfounded. They can't believe a filly was able to pull off a painting this big and this complex. "Little filly," asks one of the judges, a mare named Sweetie Swirls, "how did you pull this off?" "Well, I'm the daughter of artists. My mom is a potter and my dad is a painter and woodcarver, they taught me all I know," replies Toola with a smile. "Well, it's very impressive," replies Sweetie Swirls, "great job! You should be very proud!" "Oh I am!" replies Toola with a wide smile on her face. The judges then go off to judge a few more colts and fillies before finally announcing the winners. "For third place," says another judge, a stallion named Jean-Paul Polk, "is the colt named Air Runner." He walks over and puts the bronze medal around his neck. The colt smiles and provides thanks to the judge, Jean-Paul. "And our second place winner," says another judge, a mare named Spiral, "is the filly named Glitter Gem." She walks over and puts the silver medal around Glitter's neck. Glitter gives thanks to Spiral and then goes and stands back beside her painting. "And finally, our first place winner is Toola Roola!" exclaims Sweetie Swirls as she takes the trophy topped with a paint brush to the filly. Toola blushes as she accepts the trophy. "Thanks so much!" exclaims Toola. "You're welcome, you're an amazing young artist!" replies Sweetie Swirls. "Keep it up." "I sure will!" replies Toola with a smile. The three winners then and go line up and get their picture taken by the newspaper. The next day, the newspaper releases with the heading: Toola Roola and Other Foals Impress Judges in Young Foal Art Show. Toola shows it to her parents and they squeal in pride. They're so proud of their daughter. "We're proud of you, baby doll!" say her parents in unison. They embrace her in a hug. The three then go out for ice cream to celebrate their daughter's win. They are definitely going to enter her in more art competitions in the future. > Chapter 3 > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Over the next few weeks, Toola Roola creates, even more, large-scale paintings and begins selling them to the ponies around her, bringing in plenty of bits for herself and her family. She uses the bits to buy even more canvases and paints and put out even more big works for sale. Even the mayor and the princesses end up buying her works. Her parents couldn't be prouder of her. Their daughter has turned into a painting superstar. Over the following months, Toola Roola goes around Equestria telling the story of how she began her own art selling business as a filly and what it means for other foals with big dreams. All her dreams are coming true and she wouldn't ask for it any other way. She even gives art seminars to the royals and Celestia's students and even teaches an after-school art class for her fellow classmates. All her friends are both proud and jealous of her. Then again, she kind of expected that. A year later, Toola Roola's name is known all across Equestria thanks to all the amazing pieces she's done for her fellow ponies. She's also entered several other art competitions including ones for adults that normally foals wouldn't be able to enter, but because she's so good, the registry makes exceptions for her. Her parents couldn't be prouder of her. Their daughter is now one of the best-known rising artists in all of Equestria. She's in every single newspaper in every single country across Equestria. Her parents are positive she's going to grow up to be a famous artist and they couldn't ask for more from their daughter. Art is her passion and that's something they never want to change.
