A Twilight Gathering

Twilight must think of a way to make Fedairkid's birthday party the best there ever was.

Twilight and some of her friends from distant (very distant) lands come together to discuss how they can make Fedairkid's birthday party something really special. The answer may be more obvious than they think.
If it wasn't clear already, this story is a birthday present (a 2 months belated one, unfortunately, I seriously have no idea how it took so long) to Fedairkid, the wonderful editor who helped tremendously in the making of The Seasons of Earth and Love, and currently Twilight vs Tirek. I know Twilight is Fedairkid's favourite character (and mine too), so I thought this sort of story would be great for him.

A Plan for a Party

Twilight galloped urgently through the crystal castle corridors, panting. I knew I should've slept earlier last night. Now I'm going to be...TARDYYYY!! Her hooves ached and sweat poured down her neck as she pushed her body to its very limits to make it to the meeting in time.

Finally, after another minute of dashing, Twilight finally made it to the room, and she took a moment to rest, then she raised her head and asked nervously, "Am I on time?"

The other ponies present were seated at a rectangular table, all of them facing away from her, but Twilight heard the answer loud and clear. "No," one of them said. "You are 2 seconds late."

Twilight froze up, and she yelled, "NOOOOOOO!!!" Finally, the other ponies turned to her, with disappointment clear in their purple and black eyes.

"Really, just because you are the most accomplished of us Twilight's, doesn't mean you can be so late," the Twilight in the center lectured in an authoritative tone. She then shook her head and continued, "Nevermind that, we have more important things to take care of. Namely, Fedairkid's birthday party." At this point, the late Twilight had taken her seat and was listening attentively. "We really need to make this birthday party special, as its his first since coming to Equestria from the Human realm. So, does anyone have ideas?"

Instantly, tardy Twilight's hooves shot upwards, and she was waving it back and forth, eliciting a roll of the eyes from the lead Twilight. "Yes, do you have something?"

Nodding her head, Twilight enthusiastically said, "We can have Pinkie Pie throw one! We all know; when she throws parties, they never disappoint!" This answer received a few murmured agreements, but the head Twilight slammed her hoof onto the table, halting all conversation.

"NO! We need something more special than any party thrown before! We're not gonna pass the torch to a friend, we must take this into our own hooves." Everypony went silent, pondering deeply about anything that could be more special than a party thrown by Pinkie.

"Aha! I've got it!" the late Twilight suddenly yelled.

"What is it this time," the leader Twilight asked impatiently.

"Well, as vain as it sounds, we're obviously Fedairkid's favorite pony, right?" Everypony present nodded, unsure of what this had to do with planning a party. "So, we should make the party Twilight themed! All the presents should have something to do with us, the hats will have pictures of us and Fedairkid, we'll have banners with us, and him too of course. Then at the end, we'll all give him a big hug and sing Happy Birthday, the latter of which we would've done anyways. Sound like a plan?" Twilight then began breathing heavily from her one-breath speech.

The leader of the Twilight's looked around at all the other Twilight's and asked, "Is everypony okay with that?" After a few moments, all of them nodded, and so, Twilight continued, "Good. I suppose then that we should get the party ready. This will be the best birthday party there ever was!" There was a loud chorus of 'YEAH!!!' then they headed to the Sugar Cube Corner in the dimension Fedairkid was in.

Before starting, the Twilight's made sure to make their plan more detailed, then they got to work, making everything as Twilight-ish as possible, without drawing the attention away from the Fedairkid themed decor. Which there was a ton of.

By the time Celestia's Sun had set, the preparations for the party were finished, and now all that was left was to wait and see if Fedairkid enjoyed the party.

-

It was almost time. The party would be starting in half an hour, and all the Twilight's were eagerly waiting for everyone's, and specifically Fedairkid's arrival. "We can't mess this up, Twilight's," the commander Twilight said. "We only have one chance to make this perfect. No matter what, we all need to stick to the plan." They all nodded in assent, and then they stood in silence for the rest of the wait.

Applejack was the first to arrive, carrying an assortment of different apple treats. The sight of several Twilight's before her confused Applejack for a second, but she understood quickly. "Oh, so all of ya' came. I'm sure Fedairkid'll be mighty appreciative of that. Well, I gotta go unload these here sweets. I'll see y'all in a minute." Applejack then went inside Sugarcube Corner.

As more and more ponies arrived, the Twilights got increasingly nervous, until finally, the unicorn arrived.

When he saw all of the Twilight's he had met in the past several months, he grinned. "Hey, I'm so glad all of you made it. I was seriously expecting only you to show up," he said while pointing at the Twilight who had been late for the meeting.

"Don't be ridiculous," one Twilight said. "We'd never miss your first birthday in Equestria. Now, enough chit-chat, let's get this party started!"

It was perfect, thought every Twilight. Fedairkid had so much fun doing all sorts of things, like dancing, singing, playing games (such as pin the tail on the Twilight), and chatting with all the friends he'd made in his time in Equestria. However, he didn't seem to be completely happy, much to all the Twilights' confusion and dismay. They tried everything they could, but no matter how much fun he had, they could tell he wasn't content with one thing or another.

Giving up, the Twilight from Fedairkid's world finally decided to just ask him what was wrong. She walked up to him after a particularly heated singing battle, and asked with concern, "What's wrong, Fedairkid? I can tell something's wrong, so don't try to deny it."

He sighed and answered, "This party, its great and all, and I've been having an amazing time. But...you, and all the other yous just aren't acting like yourselves. Since you're the best friend I've made here, I can't completely enjoy this party without spending time with you; or rather, the normal you."

Twilight frowned. "I'm so sorry, we all are," she said, gesturing to the various Twilight's around the room. "We've been focusing so much on the party we have't been able to actually focus on the reason we're having the party in the first place; you."

Fedairkid smiled gently as Twilight hung her head, and he leaned forward to hug Twilight. She was startled at first, but then returned the embrace.

After a few seconds, they let go of each other and Twilight chuckled. "It's funny. I'm the Princess of Friendship, but I forgot what being a friend is really about for a while. It's not about how professional or well planned out something is, it's about spending time with your second family."

Fedairkid guffawed, to Twilight's confusion. "Sorry," he said. "It's just, you've only known me for, heck, not even a year; yet you call me family." He laughed some more. "I really appreciate it, especially on my birthday."

"Don't mention it. It's what I think, after all."

Fedairkid blushed a little. "Oh, come on, you're embarrassing me. Enough sentimental talk, let's really get this party started!"

"Right! Oh, but, I should probably tell the other Twilights to halt the ten thousand step plan first."

Laughing, Fedairkid remarked, "Typical."

Once every Twilight stopped sticking to the plan, everypony had a lot more fun, especially Fedairkid. Fedairkid took most of the dancing and flash fiction prizes, this universe's Twilight demolished the competition in the math events, and the prizes from all the other events were pretty evenly distributed.

By the end of the party, Fedairkid had completely forgotten about his earlier displeasure, and when he was about to blow out his birthday candles, he pondered on what he should wish for. After further thought, he blew the candles and made the wish.

I wish everyday was as awesome as today's been...just not as tiring.

Everypony cheered, then the group of Twilight's all jumped on Fedairkid, hugging him tightly. "Ah-," Fedairkid gasped. "Too tight!"

All the Twilight's blushed, then let go, letting Fedairkid stand up. One Twilight stepped forward and apologetically said, "It seems Pinkie's rubbing off on us."

Pinkie, who was enthusiastically chatting close by with Fluttershy, heard her name mentioned, and she leapt away from her conversation. Then while giggling, she mentioned, "Of course I have, silly. You have known me for over a decade after all!"

Every Twilight shrugged, then popped a microphone into existence with their Alicorn powers, before shouting, "All right, everypony! It's time! 3...2...1..." Everypony got ready excitedly, then began singing.

"Happy Birthday to You! Happy Birthday to You! Happy Birthday Dear Fedairkid, Happy Birthday to You!" At the end of the song, everypony started laughing cheerfully.

Ponies started leaving soon after, and in just 10 minutes, the only ones left were Fedairkid, and this world's Twilight.

Fedairkid turned to Twilight, then spoke. "I'm really lucky to have friends as good as you. I still can't believe you planned and prepared all this in one day. That's Pinkie Pie level."

Twilight chuckled a little, then she pulled Fedairkid into another hug. "One more time before I go; Happy Birthday."

Fedairkid smiled, then after separating, they said their goodbyes and parted ways, Twilight leaving the party with a new friendship lesson learnt, and Fedairkid leaving the party with great joy in his heart.
