Somewhere near the base of Mt. Fuji in Japan, three travelers trod across a small dirt road.

“OOHWEE,” cried one of the travelers as he and his companions walked across the small dirt path. “Hey, Shura, why the hell isn't we there yet. I don’t think Suguro is going to make it.”

“Will shut your trap,” An angry voice cried from behind him. Said voice came from a taller man with piercings on his face and a yellow streak cutting through his black hair. “I swear Okumura, one of these days I’m going drown you in holy water.”

“Quite bitching love birds,” shouted their instructor. Shura Kirigakure up front responded, “We're almost where we need to be. If the two of you can walk the remainder of this path without squabbling… then maybe I’ll pay for dinner tonight. However, if keep this up, then you can enjoy starving for the rest of the night..” And with that, the trio fell into silence.

Rin Okumura and Ryuji Suguro were exorcists in training. Since the cram school at True Cross Academy began, the two had been rivals, in spite of also being close friends. Ironically their disagreements stemmed more from how similar the two are, rather than their differences. Both had been raised by not so righteous holy men -one a pervy priest obsessed with skin mags- the other a drunken Buddhist monk. They also shared the same goal of one day defeating Satan in order to past loved ones.

As far as differences go, Rin was more laid back and a bit goofy, while Sugero was more stern and quick tempered. However, the biggest difference between the two was the rather crucial fact that only one was human.

Rin had only found out a year ago who and what he was, namely the bastard son of Satan. His guardian, Father Fujimoto, had raised him as a human after sealing his power inside the Koma sword. On his fifteenth birthday, his power began to leak, causing him to see demons. The revelation caused the boy to angrily lash out at his guardian at the betrayal of his trust. His words hurt the old man, weakening his resolve, making him vulnerable enough for Satan to possess him.

In the end, Fujimoto took his own life before he could do the devil's bidding, but not before Rin tried to rescue them both from sinking into the Gehenna Gate. The moment Rin drew the Koma sword was the day shed his humanity. He had destroyed the Gate, only to find Father Fujimoto dead and his appearance forever altered. His ears were now pointed and his teeth turned to fangs, though the biggest change came with the long black tail protruding from his tailbone. Thankfully, he’d since grown accustomed to the transformation, even enjoying the novelty of using the tail as a third hand.

It was after these events, that Rin decided to become an exorcist for The Knights of The True Cross, despite being not only part demon, but also Satan's child.

Now here he was on his way to becoming an Exorcist, Knight class, and learning how to control his powers for good. Sure the Vatican almost had ordered his death sentence not too long ago, but with all the demons he’d been slaying, he doubted they’d follow through, provided he remained an asset to The True Cross.

“Can I at least ask if we are almost at the spot of this so called ‘mission?’” Suguro groaned. “Bad enough I had to get stuck with Omen boy, but I really could be using this time studying for the upcoming exams.”

“Honestly Suguro,” grounded Shura, “I thought you would be happy to get some field work done. You're the best with Arias and I figured Rin would be backup in case they weren’t enough. The demons that have been bothering the villagers are close to high level, and unfortunately, we are understaffed thanks to the Illuminati.

Rin’s tail jolted up, as he pointed his finger forward towards a wooden clearing. “There,” he cried. “I think is see it. It looks like some Octopus with a tentacle for a head.”

Shura looked at the area but couldn’t see anything. “Quit fooling around Rin,” She groaned. “The demon we are looking has bat wings, at least that's what the villagers told us.”

“Well if I’m just imagining it, why can I sense it coming towards us?”

There was a rustling sound in the bushes, prompting Shura to draw her sword from the tattoo on her chest, while Suguro began reciting from memory, passages from the Bible. Meanwhile, Rin readied his Koma sword, making sure not to draw it too early, lest he releases his flames.

A figure finally emerged from the bushes, his face obscured by darkness. All though his features were obscured, he was dressed akin to a Pharaoh from Egypt, with golden headpiece and a golden rod at his side. He floated before them, stretching out his arms as if to welcoming them.

“Greeting son of Satan!” boomed the figure as the sky above turned blood red and the trees began to morph into grotesque figures. “I am Nyarlathotep.”
“Shit!” Shouted Shura. “This isn’t the demon the villagers described!”

“They saw what I wanted them to see!” the figured boom “So that I may lure you here.” He turned to face Rin as tentacles poured out from the creatures back. “Rin Okumura, the Outer Gods would you like you to join us. With your powers, we may finally awaken the mighty Cthulhu and defeat Satan himself.”

“Like Hell I Am!” Rin screamed as he finally drew his sword. Instantly he was shrouded in blue flames, peering out from his head like horns while the end of his tail ignited. “Burn asshole,” Rin snarled, exposing his now larger fangs! He thrusted his sword forward to impale the floating creature before him.

“Rin don’t!” Shura screamed. “I know this thing, and if what I’ve heard is true, then he can easily destroy our minds.

“Right you are Miss. Kirigakure?!” Nyarlathotep yelled as he effortlessly dodged Rin’s attack. “I can win this battle at any point I choose, simply by willing you all to go insane.”

“Bet it won’t affect me asshole! Satan Slash!” Rin screamed as he swung his sword, sending a wave of fire towards the monster.

This time he got him! Nyarlathotep let out a screech of pain as the flames consumed him. “I underestimated the power of your flames, boy!” he screamed. “This wasn’t supposed to happen, you were supposed to submit to my influence like all lesser demons and humans do.”

“Guess being the son of Satan makes me top of the food chain then,” Rin said with a grin. “Now fry already mother fu…”

Rin and the others screamed as Nyarlathotep’s still burning body morphed into a giant mesh of tentacles and mucus, quickly growing in size!

“Okumura get back!” cried Sugero. Rin watched as Sugero took out his a shotgun, no doubt loaded with anti-demon rounds. Surgo unleashed a fury of shots, each doing absolutely nothing to the monstrosity before him. Before he could switch to his Bazooka, the Old One grabbed all three of them.

“I told you the battle would be over when I decided it would end.” The monster bellowed as he began crushing the three exorcists with his tentacles. “Your blue flames may hurt me… they may even be the only thing that can kill me… but you're going to need more than that sad display of power to finish me. I’ll shift send you to another plane until you reconsider my offer! I’ll even let your friends tag along. I do hope you all like ponies!”

And just like that, a giant flash of light enveloped them all and both the exorcists as well as the monster were gone.

Come now little ones,” a yellow pegasus said with her harmoniously soft voice. Winter Wrap Up had concluded the day before, which meant Fluttershy was free to take a few of her animals out for a nice afternoon picnic at the nearby fields. She, along with a handful of squirrels and chipmunks, traveled with the hopes of getting a nice, calm, and quiet spot.

As the soft spoken pegasus lead her band of happy critters, along with one grumpy bunny, to the field, she came across something strange. Right before her, a bizarre creature dressed in a black uniform of some sort was lying unconscious in the middle of the road.

“Oh, my!” Fluttershy said. She trotted over to the stranger and tipped him over so she could see his face. “Are you alright Mr...um… whoever you are?”

The creature opened its eyes for a moment and looked into her eyes.

Sh, Sh…. Shiemi?” it muttered before it drifted back into unconsciousness.

Fluttershy turned to her critters. “Help me get him to the cottage, quickly!”

----------

“He looks just our counterpart from the other dimension.” Twilight thought to herself as gazed down at the creature with a peculiar yellow stripe in his hair. “But what are these objects surrounding them. They look like weapons of some kind.” She levitated and examined one of the smaller objects. “Yep that is definitely some kind of explosive.”

Her thoughts and questions were interrupted when The stranger’s s eyes opened and he stood up.

-------

Suguro gazed out, his eyes gradually adjusting to the sights around him, only to be met with rather strange crystal like architecture. He turned his head to better gather his bearings, only to be caught further off guard by a strange pony creature before him. Still too dazed to really understand what was going on or even or be shocked, he simply said the first words that came to mind. “Where the hell am I?”

“You're in a castle located in Ponyville,” the purple horse said as if trying to brown nose a teacher. “I found you and your weapons outside my home and I brought you in so you could rest?”

“Oh… that's nice.” Suguro mumbled, still regaining his senses. “And where might this Ponyville be located. This is still Japan right?”

“What’s Japan?”

Suguro’s eyes lit up as mental clarity returned. “Oh Great Buddha... I’m talking to a horse… with wings… who’s never heard of Japan!” As he narrated his thoughts, his face became more and more mortified. “This is not fucking good!”

Light poured into Rin’s eyes as his eyelids began to open. When the light finally dimmed he began to examine himself and his surroundings.

“Where am I?” was the first thought that came to his mind.

His body was resting on a couch, his head propped up by two pillows. In addition, someone had been kind enough to place a large purple blanket on his body. To say that he felt snug would be an understatement. The room around him and in fact most of the furniture was made of wood. From this, he figured that he was in some sort of cabin.

“I must have fallen unconscious during the fight,” he thought to himself. “But where am I exactly and who brought me here?”

“Oh my goodness you’re awake!” rang a gentle but surprised voice. The exorcist in training turned his head towards the source, what he saw shocked him. Nearby, however, a few feet above him, was a yellow pony with wings. “I tried to make sure you were as comfortable as pos-.”

“Sweet Jesus a talking pony!” Rin shouted as his face lit up (metaphorically) with a wide smile that completely exposed his fangs. “And it's FLYING!”

“Please don’t startle me.” The pegasus whimpered, drew back a bit as Rin hoped out of the bed to look at her. As she retreated she could see Rins tail swishing back and forth with excitement.

“Please, sweet Celestia don’t eat me!”

“Eat you?” Rin asked? “Am I scaring you?”

When no answer was given, Rin made a conscious effort to relax his tail in response to Fluttershy.

“That better?”

The pegasus nodded. “A little. The fact that you're asking probably means you're not interested in biting me with those fangs of yours.”

“Unfortunately there’s nothing I can do about my teeth.” Rin laughed. “Most people don’t even notice how sharp they are.”

Fluttershy took a deep sigh of relief at Rin’s reassurance that he wasn’t going to pounce or maul her. “I’m sorry for getting worried. You seem like such a nice… well…what are you exactly?”

Rin paused for a moment as he recalled all the trouble of not being straightforward about his heritage caused him back at the Cram-School. He also knew bluntly telling people would also cause a problem like it did with his friend Godain. This time he would have to choose his words carefully, especially with something as timed as this creature.

“Let's just say I’m human for now.” He finally said with a warm smile. “It’s a bit more complicated than that but I’ll gladly tell you more about it later. Anyway, my name is Rin Okumura. Whats yours?”

Fluttershy smiled as the look of concern on her face faded. “It’s nice to meet you Rin Okumura. My name is Fluttershy. I’m a pegasus pony as you can see.”

“That’s so freaking cool,” Rin said taking a few steps closer. “Tell me, what is something as adorable as you doing in Japan?”

She giggled as she landed gently on the floor.

“I’ve never heard of that place. Is that where you’re from?”

Rin nodded. “Yeah. That pharaoh octopus thing must have sent me someplace else when he grabbed me and my friends.”

She quizzically tilted her head in response to Rins odd statement “Pharoah Octopus?”

The two of them spent a couple of hours exchanging information. During that time, Rin was able to figure out that this land called Equestria was not of the realm of humanity. He was also successful at telling Fluttershy about his demonic being while making clear that he himself wished to protect humanity by following in his adopted father’s footsteps.

“Ever since I drew the sword and assumed my nature, I’ve felt out of place. Being feared and hated is never a good feeling, especially since the only crime I’ve committed is existing. Many in the order and in the church want me dead, and probably take great offense to me ever being one of them. Fortunately, I have a brother and friends who accept me despite being what I am.”

Rin paused and looked into Fluttershy’s eyes, trying to read her face.

“I know you’re probably a little too apprehensive now that I’ve told you the truth, but I know from experience that hiding it would only backfire. At least now we can get this part done earlier than later.”

Fluttershy looked at the floor.

“This is all so much… but you don’t seem like a monster.”

She shook her head and looked firmly at him.

“Well, I can say this at least. After listening to your story I feel decently sure that your heart is ultimately good Rin. I have a similar friend who’s worked really hard to be welcomed? Ponies mistrusted him because of bad things he did in the past. If Discord could break the bad stigma that surrounded him, then surely one day the exorcists see you as a friend?”

“Maybe I was a tiny bit worried” Fluttershy laughed. “But I believe you and your intentions

Rin patted Fluttershy’s mane. “Thanks, Fluttershy. You know you also remind me of a particular friend from back home.”

“Her name wouldn’t happen to be Shiemi would it?” asked Fluttershy. “I heard you mutter that name when you were briefly conscious.”

Rin nodded, his cheeks growing red at the thought of Shiemi. “Its just how gentle and kind you are. Even the softness of your voice. It's kind of creepy just how much you make me think of her.”

The two of them continued to talk and laugh until finally, Rin stood up.

“It was nice meeting you Fluttershy, but I kinda have to go look for my friends and find us away back home. I hope that Egyptian bastard didn’t send us all too different dimensions. ”

“Please be careful.” Pleaded Fluttershy. “I know this may seem tranquil but Equestria can be dangerous. I’d recommend seeking out Princess Twilight or Princess Celestia.”

“Why don’t you come with me?” Rin asked as he offered a hand out to her.

“I prefer not to.” She replied nervously. “But I’ve been on dangerous adventures before. I’ll take you to one of the princesses at least.”

A sharp grin formed on Rin's face, and this time Fluttershy was no longer worried about those glimmering fangs of his. In the short time, Rin had been with her, she felt nothing but kindness from him. Even after he told her that he was a demon, nothing about his soul gave her that impression.

--------

“Yo Princess!” Rin shouted as he pounded on the door. “Open up!”

“Rin stop that!” Fluttershy said scolding. “Wait for her or Spike to answer the door!”

“But we need to hurry up!” He whined. “You told me this is a big country so I need to get ahead start!”

As if on cue the door to the Twilights castle creaked open. From the corner of the door, a small purple/green scaly creature peaked out.

“Twilights not home!” the lizard groaned.

Rin tilted his head. “Wait! What’s Barney the Dinosaur doing here?”

“My name is Spike and I’m a DRAGON!” Spike said with irritation clear in his voice. “Get it right you giant monkey thing!”

“What’s going on Spike?” asked Fluttershy. “You seem more irate than usual.”

“Well, Twlights have been working me like a slave with book dusting all the shelves in this darn castle.”

“You could say damn you know?” Rin interjected.

“Rin!” Fluttershy gasped. “Spike is still a child! Don’t use such foul language in front of him like that!”

“Stop!” moaned Spile. “If you want Twilight your too late. She left for Canterlot Castle with the other bipedal creature.” “Wait! So one of my friends was here!” Rin picked up Spike and shook him like a rag doll. “Were they a male or female?”

“Male!” Spike screamed. “Please let me go!”

The moment Rin put him down Spike ran to the door and shut himself in. Afterwords, The demon exorcist turned to Fluttershy. “Looks like we are going to this Canterlot Castle place. You know where that is?”

“Its that large structure in the distance.” She said, pointing towards some far away mountains. “We’d need to wait for a train to take us to the city.”

“But by the time we get there, we might miss them again. Can’t you pick me up and fly me there.”

“Oh dear no,” she said shaking her head, eyes widen. “I’m not strong or fast enough for that.”

Rin turned to the town and slammed his fist into his left palm. “Then we have to find someone who is! Got any ideas!” “Rainbow Dash!” Fluttershy said loudly

Rin smiled “Great let's go find this-

“No! I mean Rin look out shes…”

Before Fluttershy could even finish, Rin felt a force, unlike anything he had ever felt slammed into his cheek. His body twirled backward in midair as he was sent flying until crashed and toppled over a nearby tree.

“Leave monster!” someone shouted. “You don’t belong in this town!”

“Rainbow Dash what in Celestia name are you doing!” Fluttershy screamed!

Rin tried desperately to lift himself up as blood poured from the numerous cuts as he leaned against the giant log behind him. He must have broken several limbs. He wasn’t worried too much though since he knew the cuts would regenerate rather quickly along with whatever ponies he might have broken. Sure enough, the cuts vanished from his body, and he could feel his broken joints reattaching themselves. When he was confident that he had fully healed, he lifted himself up and pointed a flaming blue finger at the rainbowed-maned pony who had assaulted him.

“You better back off!” he warned. “I only roast demons, but that doesn’t mean I won’t burn you. Please don’t make me burn a cute pony.”

“Who the heck you calling cute demon!” Dash bragged. “That’s what you are right? You’re the one who set those strange black smoke timber wolves on Sweet Apple Acres aren’t you?”

“I know nothing about no wolves,” Rin replied. “And I don’t have time to either. I need to get to Canterlot and rescue Suguro!

“Not until you get those wolves to stop attacking Apple Jack and her family!”

Rin sighed and brought his focus to Fluttershy. “This is the pegasus pony you were talking about?” He watched her nod and turned his attention back to Rainbow, finger still pointed. “I’ll save your friends farm, but then you owe me an apology and a ride to Canterlot!”

------

Helplessness consumed Applejack's entire being as she watched the horror unfold from the safety of her bedroom window. At least, safe as she was while the timber wolves were busy ripping her cattle to bloody shreds. They were her family cows, her friends, and all she could do was watch as they all die in agony.

"Where in Tartarus is Rainbow Dash?" her mind echoed. Why isn’t she back?

She thought she and Rainbow Dash had defeated the last horde when this all started earlier today. Believing the worst was over, she had asked Dash to find anything unusual that might have caused the change in the wolves’ appearance. It was no sooner after her departure did another pack of black smoking timber wolves immerge. That left only her and Big Mac to defend Granny and AB.

Celestia’s sun was beginning to set as the last cow screamed one final shriek. The timber wolf that had killed her stood atop her corps and turned its gaze towards the house followed by the rest of the pack of around twenty-five. Applejack shivered as their glowing red eyes- which had once been green- illuminated the bottom of the hill. Whatever spell had befallen wolves, it was clear they were no longer hunting for nourishment, but for the pleasure of spilling blood.”

“Mac!” she called as she ran towards then down the stairs. “Granny and bloom are in the cellar?”

“Eeeyup!” was his reply as she would expect, only this time with a more somber and concerned tone.

“They will be here any second.” She told him. “Even though we’ve boarded the house up, the wolves are stronger than before. We need to anticipate that they are strong enough to break through. When we do, we buck as many as we can and hold off until help arrives.”

“Is help coming?” her older brother asked.

The farm mare lowered her head shook it. “I don’t know Mac. All I know is that Rainbow would never abandon us intentionally. She may not even know we are in immediate danger.”

As the wolves began their assault, clawing at the door and the window, that feeling of helplessness she had felt earlier overcame her entire being. Overall the ways her life could end, fighting and failing to protect her family was the worse she could ever imagine. She looked up at her family photo for resolve. No matter the outcome, she was ready to fight to the bitter end to protect everypony.

----------

By the time Rin and Rainbow Dash reached Sweet Apple Acers, the sun had already traded places with the moon. Rainbow Dash flew while Rin used his superhuman stamina and steep to trail in back.

“There attacking the house.” The pegasus reported

“Just leave them to me Rin.” Rin said, sword at the ready. “I can control who gets burnt by my flame but I don’t want to take any chances. You’ll be my back.”

She looked as though she wanted to protest but nodded in agreement anyway. “Just save them.”

Rin gave her a thumbs up and sped past her towards the hill. When he got up he could see a mass of sticks, branches, and black smoke in the form of wolves trying to break into the house.

“Over here assholes!” Rin called out as he finally drew his sword to unleash his full power. Rin charged into the pack, stabbed one right in the head just as its head was about to turn. Amplified by his will, the wolf was engulfed instantly in a blue bonfire. From there he struck another and followed by a third. The flames of Satan had the power to burn both physically and spiritually each timber wolf spirit engulf by Rins flame died alongside the demons that possessed them.

Part of the pack began to retreat while the ones that were too close to escape fought for their lives. One wolf jumped onto Rins back but was blown away by a Rins pyrokinetic will. A second one bit the side of Rin's tail which forces him to kneel down on his legs. Mephisto, the headmaster of TCA had warned him about tails being a demons vulnerability. Fortunate the tip was on fire when in this form, so he was able to free himself simply by walking the wolves’ neck and forcing it to let go.

When Rin had finished with them, he began to peruse those in retreat.

Putting the tip of his sword facing the ground he unleashed one of his more devastating moves.

“Satan Bomb!”

And just like that, the fleeing wolves were all engulfed in a fiery blue explosion.

Rin sheathed his sword and took a big sigh of relief.

Rainbow Dash, who had been watching the battle from afar, flew down to on the field that was covered with burning sticks.

Rin turned her and smiled.

“Timberwolves! Ha! More like tinderwolves now!”
