> My life with Nightmare Moon > by Dream Writer > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > Chapter 1: The First Meeting > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- The night air was chilly, as usual, but there was something different to the wind. For once it wasn't the wind, or lack of warmth that made me shiver. I couldn't quite put my hoof on it, but something was going to happen, something that would change my life forever. The next morning, well if you could call it a morning, it was only a few shades lighter than the night, my generation has never seen the sun, never felt the suns warmth on our fur coats or felt a hot summer breeze through our manes that I had read about from past generations. My mother had often told me stories of Equestria when there was two princesses. One whom had ruled in the day, and one whom had controlled the night. Everypony thought that everything was well balanced, but my parents had felt a certain...tension building in the Canterlot castle (my parents were two of many servants who had worked within the castle walls). One day, the princess of the night, formally known as Princess Luna had snapped. She was jealous of how all the other ponies had played when her sister's beloved sun was out, and always slept when her beautiful moon was out. My mother saw it, her transformation into the cruel Nightmare Moon. She hid and watched the two sisters, she was hoping, and praying that Princess Celestia would somehow defeat Nightmare Moon. Her prayers were just about answered when Nightmare Moon had found an opening and reflected her dear sisters own spell, banishing dear Princess Celestia to the center of the sun, and never to return. Anyways, as I was saying before I had distracted myself, the next morning was just like any other, despite what I had felt the night before. I had woken to my cat rubbing and meowing at me, and went through my morning routine. I showered, getting my dark indigo coat nice and clean and washed my dark and light blue mane and tail. I made sure to get in my wings and wash behind my ears, like mother would always tell me. I was sure to brush and floss, and combed through my wet mane, putting the long bottom layers into the pigtails I always wore them in. I also put a matching bead near the end of my tail, and commenced to clear the piercings in my ears and lips. I had one big red earring at the base of each ear, and two smaller orange ones above each other. Along with those I had two rings in my lips, known as snake bites, they were my first and favorite piercings, although mother and father were very angry when they saw what I had done. I left my home and stretched my wings a little, it was still cold, but what world with no sun isn't cold? I sighed and went on my way to do my weekly grocery shopping when I had bumped into a tall dark figure. I landed on the ground with a “THUD!” and rubbed my head in pain. “Ouch...” I mumbled as I slowly looked up to see who, or what I had bumped into. And with my luck, it had to be the worst who, or what a little pony like me could bump into. Oh boy did I have tough luck or what? Those cold as ice eyes glaring down at me, sent shivers down my spine. I couldn't tell if they were good or bad, from the chilly wind or her icy stare. Her mane that looked like it was made of stars was blowing in the wind, and her scowl, oh that scowl made me feel even more worthless than a piece of last years trash. Although, I couldn't help but wonder if she would look as threatening without the armor she had on. I couldn't help but think that she'd look stunning either way. And trust me, I couldn't believe that I had though such a thing. She kept that scowl on her face as she glared impatiently at me, as if she were waiting for something. Then it dawned on me, slower than it should have I admit, but I quickly jumped to my hoof and bowed my head down in front of the Royal Alicorn “My sincerest apologies your Highness...!” I apologized and glanced up at her, with the scowl glued to her face. It made me wonder if she had a muscle in her face that made her face stay in that permanent scowl. It made me so nervous that I started to shake ever so slightly, still bowing and awaiting approval to raise my head. She nodded at me, not seeming to soften her scowl and I slowly stood into a normal standing position. I was still nervous and chewed on my lip ring, waiting for some form of punishment for being so naive and reckless to bump into the ruler of all Equestria. “Follow me.” She said harshly and continued walking, which was the opposite direction of where I was going. I quietly sighed to myself thinking; The groceries will have to wait I suppose. And I followed the beautifully frightening Princess to wherever she was planning on taking me. ________________________________________________________________________________________________ To my surprise she was leading me to Canterlot Castle. I had to fly to get up there, and keeping up with her wasn't the easiest thing for me to do, but I managed, barely. I was so exhausted by the time we had reached the entrance I thought for sure she know what a weak flier I was and was using that for my punishment. But was I wrong, or was I the opposite of right. My true punishment was yet to come. Not only did the halls remind me of my childhood when I would trot around humming and singing loudly while mother and father worked, I also remembered my first glimpse of what the sun use to look like. While I was busy remembering my fillyhood I didn't even notice the room she had lead me into. She had shut the door and I could have sworn I saw a smirk replace her permanent scowl. > Such a Tease > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- I gulped quietly as I stared up at the dangerous, frightening, beautiful being that stood before me. Her scowl was softened a bit, but there was no smirk that I had thought to have seen. I had never thought I, Taintedsongs, would be face to face with such a royal, powerful being. A small, dark indigo-violet pegasus whom could hardly fly, next to an exotic ruler. My dark blue mane and tail with the light blue highlights, in the same room with her long mane and tail that was made of the night sky. A vulnerable, piercing covered being, near her flawless, unbeatable beautiful self that was only covered in her royal armor. I was beginning to feel small and worthless the more I thought about her beauty compared to mine own. So I stared at the ground as she walked to the nearest window with her cold face, looking at her beautiful moon. “State your name.” she said, still staring out the window. Her voice was so cold, yet I loved her voice the instant she spoke to me. It sent shivers down my spine. “U-um, I go by Taint back home, but if you're more comfortable, your highness, you may call me by my birth name on Taintedsongs. Y-your majesty.” I said, quite nervously. I had no idea what she was wanting, especially in a room without her guards, all I knew was that I didn't like where it was going. Or so I thought. “That's what I intended to call you all along. That is the name you were born with, and that is what you shall be called.” She shot her icy stare at me and averted her attention to the window as she continued speaking. “You do know why I have brought you here, don't you, Taintedsongs?” She glanced my way once again and I shook my head. I was utterly clueless, I didn't think that being a little clumsy could result in being alone with Nightmare Moon. I could hear a sigh of irritation from her, she was probably mentally face-hoofing. It was quiet for a long time, and my nervous habits began to take their toll. I began playing with my piercings and looking around the room as I hummed quietly to myself. I could tell that my quirks were starting to irritate her, she kept shooting glares at me until finally she turned around and got in my face snarling. I wanted to stop before that had happened, but I couldn't help but to do it, I was really nervous. “Would you stop that horrible noise?” she snarled. I flattened my ears, and felt a slight blush come about my face and I dropped my head a bit, trying to hide it.” “I-I'm s-sorry, I'll stop.” I couldn't understand why I was feeling so...attracted to the mare, she was suppose to be frightening, I couldn't help myself. “Now, I will inform you of why you are here.” She said, a bit calmer then before. She began to walk around the room as she explained. “You are not here because you had bumped into me. You are only here because I need someone to keep me company nothing else. Although...I could have chosen a better subject, you are starting to get on my nerves quite quickly.” She stared down at me, like I was milk gone sour. I couldn't help but feel even more attracted to her. What was wrong with me? If any other pony were in this situation they would be scared and crying their eyeballs out. I felt the blush creeping back onto my face, but I couldn't hide it, I was the type of pony that gave my entire attention to a higher up when they are speaking. She began looking at me strange, noticing my blush no doubt. “What is wrong with you're face? Your coat is changing colors.” “U-um, I don't know what you're talking about Your Majesty. My coat stays the same shade of violet at all times.” I spoke as confidently as I could trying not to tell her the real reason my face was becoming the red-violet. Unfortunately, she didn't believe me and brought her face closer to mine, the closer her face got the redder my face became. And she actually smiled, it was an evil looking smile, but at least it wasn't a scowl. “I know what's going on here, you are attracted to me, aren't you?” she chuckled deviously and nuzzled the side of my neck. I squeaked quietly and gulped, biting my lip. “M-me? A-attracted to such r-royalty? I-it would be but a crime.” I stuttered, my face was now flushed, a bight red-violet. I wasn't use to such closeness, especially with such sensitive areas. Sure i'd been turned on before, but I'd never had sex, with anyone. I could her another low chuckle come from her, just as devious as before, if not is was even more so. I shuddered as I felt her breath land on and in my ear that came from her chuckle. She was doing this on purpose! I couldn't believe that the princess, the one who told me I was just there for company was purposefully turning me on! What surprised me even more was that I enjoyed it, very much. I almost whined in protest when she walked away, she left me there to squirm by myself. As I sat and squirmed silently, I thought to myself how much of a tease she was being. She really was a cruel ruler, but I had feeling for her anyways. She shot me another smirk when a servant had knocked on the door telling us that lunch was ready to be served. I sat at the dining table with the lunch that they had prepared for Nightmare and I, I was still a bit squirmy and kept shooting glances towards the Alicorn. I didn't have much of an appetite, but I ate a small portion of the meal, then it donned on me. I was going to be there for a long time if I was there to keep her company. I didn't have any of my personal belongings. I didn't have my music player, my radio or CD's, I didn't even have my notebook filled with all of my lyrics. Nor did I have my shampoo, or other cleaning supplies. I didn't even know if she was going to let me go home to get what I needed. I sighed quietly to myself as I thought of a way to ask about this. > The Embarrassing Dream > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Nightmare Moon walked in front of me as her guards walked beside me. By the looks on their faces I could tell that the didn't think I was much of a threat to her, but it's better to be safe then sorry I guess. If I really wanted to leave I could just use my singing talent to make her feel like she wanted me to go home. Oh, you don't know my special talent yet, do you? My cutie mark is pretty plain, it's just a floating music note. My talent is singing, but it isn't as simple as the cutie mark. No matter the tune I sing, hum, or whistle I can make a pony feel a certain way. I suppose you can call it hypnosis, but I don't understand how it works, I just control it. We kept walking until we got to the end of the corridor, there was a door painted red, it had a gold doorknob, and a gold knocker with...my face on it? That creeped me out and I looked up at Nightmare Moon with a confused face, she must have thought my confusion was amusing, she actually smiled. But she quickly wiped the smile off of her face and said coldly “I had this made today, it's fairly new, don't break it.” She opened the door for me and I walked in, there was a nice bed, really fancy, the kind that you would see in a magazine that only royalty or rich could afford. My jaw dropped to the floor as I looked around, I had my own bathroom, with a shower! And it already had all of my shower stuff in it. I was as giddy as a school filly, it was much fancier and more colorful than the room Nightmare Moon and I were in earlier. The door shut behind Nightmare Moon, as she left the guards outside. That's when I noticed something almost terrifying about the room, there was only one doorknob, and it was the gold one on the outside. I gulped as the dark mare loomed over me. The smirk that I had seen before was plastered on her face, and I felt my ears flatten against my head as she lowered her head to mine and licked the tip of my nose. A blush creeped onto my face and she chuckled a low, dark chuckle as she nipped at my ear softly. I wondered to myself why I was letting her do this, it's not like I wanted it...but it was doing something to me. I liked it, in a funny way. __________________________________________________ I woke up at the dining table, I was so embarrassed. Not only because I had fallen asleep during lunch, but I had been talking in my sleep, and the beautiful Alicorn had woken me herself. Apparently I was enjoying that dream more then I should have been. It wasn't entirely my fault! She was teasing me, right before the guard had come to take us to dinner. So, I was turned on, a little bit, and fell asleep at dinner, and started to fantasize. There's nothing wrong with what happened! It's completely natural to have a dream about another mare, right? Right. I just hoped that these feelings for her wouldn't get out of control. I wasn't sure if she was just messing with me, or actually wanted me, but I wasn't going to make a complete fool of myself. After lunch she walked me down the same corridor in my dream, but there were no guards, and the room wasn't at the end of the corridor as in my dream. The front of the door was almost exactly the same, except there wasn't a knocker that looked like me...which was kind of disappointing. But at least I know she isn't scary enough to have a mold made of me and have a gold knocker made. The room wasn't as colorful as I had dreamed, but I still had my bathroom, and yes, it already had my things inside. The bed was a lot nicer than the one I had back home. The room was nice, and there was a doorknob on both of the doors, I sighed a quiet sigh of relief as I saw this, and plopped down onto the bed, snuggling the covers. There was something about the food that made me really tired, which probably explains why I had fallen asleep at lunch. But why wasn't Nightmare Moon tired? Was she use to the food? I was about to ask her those questions, and many more when I drifted off to sleep again. As I drifted I saw Nightmare walking towards the bed, and that last thing I remember was having someone pull the covers over me as my eyes closed, I didn't see her, but I know that she was the one who had tucked me into bed, I felt like a little filly, but it was nice. __________________________________________________ When I woke up, presumably a few hours later there was another mare in the bed with me. I panicked at first, but then I remembered that I live with the almighty Nightmare Moon now, and calmed down slightly. Her face was not too far from mine, but just close enough to feel her slow even breaths on my muzzle, I couldn't help but to snuggle close to her and close my eyes. Her fur was warm, I had never snuggled with anyone else, but it was nice. I was rather fond of it. I glanced up at her once more and my smile widened, I pulled the covers over the both of us and snuggled her as I fell back asleep, and awaited for us to wake up and head to dinner. As I slept I dreamed of my days to come with Nightmare Moon, and the good food that had made me so tired. Maybe I could soften her up a bit. I was going to be working on that while I was there. __________________________________________________ ((Author here! Hey, how is everyone? Sorry this chapter took so long. The next one won't take as long I promise. If you have any suggestions on the story, please let me know! Until chapter four, happy reading!)) > Time to bring up the past > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- When I awoke, Nightmare Moon was still asleep, but her hooves were wrapped around me, holding me tight. Her chin was resting on my head, and her breath slowly and gently moved my hair, it felt so nice. I couldn't help but to smile and glance up at her, but when I looked up at the Alicorn it wasn't the Nightmare Moon I had fallen asleep with. This mare had a shade of lighter purple coat and her mane wasn't like it was before. It was like Princess Celestia's in the pictures I had seen..only a dark blue with white dots that looked like stars. I blinked in confusion up at her, I was going to awaken her, but she just looked so peaceful, and her grip on me was strong enough to kill me if she was angry at me for waking her. Her scent was exactly the same as Nightmare's, except hers wasn't as harsh, she smell had a sweeter tone to it, unlike Nightmare's, who's scent was a bit sour...or bitter...or both. My thoughts were interrupted when a tall, white Alicorn entered the door. She looked just like Princess Luna's older sister, but that's impossible. She's in the sun, right? I stared up at her, confused, as she walked towards me and the dark Alicorn that was holding me. When she was close enough she bent her head down and gently nuzzled the smaller Alicorn and smiled. She looked at me and smiled the kindest smile I had ever seen and whispered so quietly that I could barely hear, but I'm almost positive that she was saying... “Thank you”. She slowly disappeared, and as she disappeared the Alicorn that help me grew darker and larger, slowly shifting back into Nightmare Moon. I stared up at her as I realized that I was cuddling with the younger sister of Celestia. How could I have been so dense to have not known that I was looking up at Princess Luna? I felt so ridiculously stupid for thinking otherwise. She was still asleep after her transformation back to Nightmare Moon, and she still managed to look a little threatening. One of her guards knocked on the door and opened it slowly, peering in. When he saw that Nightmare was still fast asleep he looked at me, there was a bit of jealousy and some fear in his eyes. “Dinner is ready, I would suggest that you don't wake her the wrong way.” he had said quietly, yet firmly and shut the door. I glanced back up at her and gulped, wondering which way was the wrong way. What would happen if I woke her the wrong way? As I sat and thought, I could only think of one way to wake her, even though it was still a little awkward for me to do what I was about to do, after all, we were both mares, and my mother never told me whether it was right or wrong to feel this way. I slowly kissed her cheek, it was just a little peck and her eyes fluttered open, glaring down at me. I grinned sheepishly with my ears flat as she muttered coldly “Don't do that with those cold piercings in your mouth.” She let go of me and stood of on the floor stretching her body and her wings. “One of your guards came in a few minutes ago saying that dinner was ready.” I said quietly as I stretched on the other side of the bed. She waited impatiently for me at the door, and stared at me as a walked towards her with a small smile. As we walked I kept glancing up at her, I couldn't help myself, and I kept imagining her other self walking alongside me smiling and looking back at me. “So, Taintedsongs, tell me about yourself. Since you will be living here I will need to know about you.” She glanced down at me expecting me to tell her everything. I'll admit there were things I didn't want to tell her, but I stink at keeping secrets. So I told her, and this is what I had said. ________________________________________________________________________________________________ I was born in Cloudsdale, like any other Pegasus, but my birth mother was abandoned by my father and was too poor to take care of me. She had no other choice but to put me up for adoption. I was adopted by two very friendly, caring and loving Unicorns, my new mother had a white coat and a long wavy blue mane. She had a cutie mark of the sun, the sun wore a kind smile. I wasn't ever sure of what it stood for, but she was always wearing a warm smile and was always so kind with us, and patient. I was never close with father, he worked longer hours then mother did, I just remember him taking the long rides with me to flight school. He would let me sit on his lap the whole ride, I wanted to be as good of a flier as the Pegasi that were carrying our carriage, but that never happened. Being in Canterlot I didn't have many places to practice flying, and non of the other fillies could fly with me. Eventually mother had to work longer hours, she had worked in the very castle we were standing in. And when she came home to tuck me into bed, she would tell me stories about the beautiful princesses and how kind and hard-working they were. One day, mother and father never came home from working at the castle, and it went dark, like the sun disappeared, and there was only a moon in the sky. Later that eternal night I found out that none of the castle workers had returned home to their families and that Celestia was sent to the center of the sun. I was a little filly in the crowd when I had first saw you, Nightmare Moon, when you had announced to us the eternal night, and how you were our new ruler of Equestria. I was scared, at the time I was too young to understand what was going on, I didn't know where my parents were, I wanted my mother. I stopped going to flight school, I didn't have a way to get there any longer. I ended up on the streets of Canterlot, singing for spare bits, eating whenever I could, even if it were leftovers I had found behind restaurants. I ended up hanging around the wrong kind of ponies, always causing trouble, playing harsh pranks on nobles and such. I ended up drinking under age, and getting high with fellow gang members. One day I got a buck to the face by another pony, she was yelling at me and calling me all kinds of names and profanity, and poking at my chest telling me that if I didn't straighten up and take pride in my talents and flaunt my cutie mark I was going to end up dead in the streets as worthless as a piece of trash and not a penny to my name. After that I begged her to help me get out, and help me onto my feet. She took me into her home, and helped me find a job, which wasn't easy because I wasn't a Unicorn and I had piercings in my ears and lips. She drove me to auditions that restaurants were having for background singers, and we finally found a place that would take me. It was a small coffee shop that had a steady number of customers coming in daily. I eventually raised enough bits from my job at the coffee shop to move to Ponyville and start my own quiet life. The years I spent there were quiet and I had some close ponies that I suppose that I could call friends. And then one day I bumped into you, and am starting a new life once again. > Silver Gears > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- The rest of the walk down the corridor was silent, our hoof steps could be heard echoing through the air. Nightmare Moon stopped and turned to me, looking down at me, her look was softer than before, she wasn't scowling at me for once. “We're having a guest for dinner tonight, I forgot to inform you. And while they are here, I can't have you sitting there with those pieces of metal in your face and ears. Also, one of the servants will have to do something with your bedhead.” She said sternly. I unwillingly took out my snake bites and earrings, handing them to her. She took a hold of them with her magic and dropped them out a nearby window. I dashed to the window, nearly jumping out to catch them, but she caught me, holding me with her magic as I floated there, watching my piercings fall to the Earth. I bit my lip holding back tears of anger and avoided looking at Nightmare and she set me on the ground. “I know you didn't want me wearing them tonight but...but you didn't have to go that far with it! Those particular piercings were given to me as a gift by someone who was very special to me!” I was practically yelling as I choked back tears. Those were the most important possessions I had, the kindest pony I had known had given them to me. Sure, he was the leader of the gang I was in, but he was a kind Earth pony who never treated me with disrespect. He was like an older brother to me, to all of us. Our small gang was like a fun, dysfunctional family. He was the one who helped me find my cutie mark, having me sing in front of him and everyone else instead of singing for spare change. I wore those everyday to remember he would always be with me, even after his death. Nightmare Just stood there looking at me as if I had smacked her with my words. I wiped a stray tear from my face and sniffled, turning away angrily. I was so angry, I was practically fuming. I know anyone else would have told me to chill my tits, well at least the gang would have said that, but I had a lot of memories with “those pieces of metal”, so much sentimental value in them. I let her walk ahead, knowing she wanted to have my mane and tail styled differently, probably wanting my to never wear pigtails again, or a ponytail in my tail. I followed silently, looking down at the ground. She stopped abruptly, making me almost bump into her, I huffed looking up from the ground to see her holding a door open. I looked inside and saw another Pony standing inside, talking with one of the guards. Well, she wasn't a pony, she was a Unicorn, her dark red mane curled at the floor, and her tail was even longer, it trailed behind her, like a train on a wedding dress would. She had bright blue eyes, and her coat looked like she had rolled around in coal until it became dark as night. “Ah~ is this your new pet, Nightmare Moon?” she giggled as she looked at me. “She has such a beautiful mane, even if it is a bit messy. I remember when I was your pet, maybe I was too talkative, yes?” The way she eyed Nightmare lit a small fire in in my chest, I was jealous. This beautiful Unicorn was her pet? Why was I feeling jealous all of a sudden? I was suppose to be angry at her. “Well, come sit, we'll wash your hair and get you all prettied up for dinner~.” She said cheerily. For a Unicorn with such a dark appearance she was certainly cheerful. I sat and listened to her talk as she washed my mane, she really was a big talker. I learned her life story by the time she was finished straightening and styling my mane and tail. Apparently, she never knew her special talent would be dealing with hair. She wanted a cutie mark like mine, with singing. Trust me, you never want to hear her sing, ever. I thought my ears were going to start bleeding. I looked in the mirror, I looked so strange without my piercings. And my mane was straight as a piece of hay, all to one side. My bangs weren't hanging down or anything, my tail would have been as straight too if it wasn't being dragged on the floor. I felt like I was looking at a stranger that I had known at one point. She looked vaguely familiar, but I didn't know her. I sighed and thanked the beautiful Unicorn and walked out to Nightmare, my ears wilted a bit. As we walked, it was just as quiet, hearing our hooves hit the floor, listening to the echo. I hummed slowly to myself, it was quiet enough so I could hear it. I needed to express myself somehow, and I knew she didn't like my humming. It wasn't much, the melody confused me and I ended up humming a song my mother would sing when she was feeling down. My humming ceased when we got to the dining room. The food smelled delicious, I wasn't sure what the chefs had made, but I knew that just the smell made my mouth water. My mouth soon went dry when I saw the guest sitting at the table, waiting for us. His coat was white, and had dark blue eyes that matched his dark blue mane and tail, both done in dreads. I guess that never changed, he wasn't the kind of Unicorn that accepted change easily. He had caused me and the rest of the gang so much grief, and here I was, sitting across the table from the colt that had tried starting fights with me over nothing. The one pony I couldn't stand, who made fun of me for being an orphan, and taunting me until I got my cutie mark. Silver Gears, the person who wanted me to love him, and was jealous because of my crush. The one who killed the love of my life, was looking right at me as I ate my dinner. _________________________________________________________________________________________________ It was the most awkward dinner I had ever eaten, the food was really delicious, but the atmosphere was so tense. I was just staring at my plate and food, avoiding eye contact with Nightmare and Silver. I would sit and cut the air with my knife, trying to cut the tension with it, I could feel a cold, angry stare on me as I did so. Thankfully the dinner was over and I stood by Nightmare's side as she welcomed the guest. “I assume you two already know each other, by the way you looked at one another when we walked in.” She said, glancing at me at back to him. I kept my eyes to the floor, I could hardly stand to look at him, sure we had our fun, but the end was bitter and left a horrible taste in my mouth. “Why don't you two go out to the garden and catch up? I'll be out there soon, I have some things to do.” She left us and we walked out to the garden. Despite the cold darkness of the eternal night the sky looked absolutely beautiful. I'd even say it would have cheered me up if it weren't for Silver Gears being there. With him there I couldn't enjoy anything, all I could think about with him so close was the night he had killed my knight in shining armor. I don't even feel like explaining what had happened that day, or night, or whatever it was. All you, the reader of this is that it was a horrible, horrible sight. There was blood everywhere, on the walls, on the two stallions, on me, everywhere. And I wasn't strong enough to save him.
