> Her Turn > by Karrenia > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > Train Ride > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Elements of Harmony. A source of great power. Power to defeat the worlds most destructive forces: Nightmare Moon, Discord, Chrysalis, Sombra, and Tirek. Although their power is great, they needed bearers. Ponies that represented one of the many elements, strongly. Queen Twilight Sparkle and her friends were bearers of six of these elements. Pinkie Pie: Laughter Applejack: Honesty Fluttershy: Kindness Rarity: Generosity Rainbow Dash: Loyalty And lastly the Queen herself: Magic But, as all great things come to an end, the elements these six used were needed to protect the Tree of Harmony. The original bearer of the Elements of Harmony. "And as of this day, the Elements still reside in the tree, where ever it may be. Some have claimed that when another pure bearer of harmony arises, the new element they represent will be fou-" "Dawn! Do you have everything you need?! We have to get to Canterlot before Queen Twilights night rises!" My overly excited sister...although she was at my door, yelled at me. I shut the book I was reading, needing to return it, and our many others, to the library on the way. "Yeah yeah quit your hollering, I'm right here. I'm gonna go deaf by the time I'm 20..." She glared at me and flared her odd wings in frustration. Me and my sister are, as some might say, hybrid twins. One born of night, the other of day. And we really did live up to that category. Our father was half bat pony, half pegasus. And our mother an outstanding unicorn. I, myself, don't have the wings to show that I'm a fourth...something bat-pegasus pony, but my sister does. Her wings and pointed teeth tell the tale. But she also has some unicorn traits, her long tail and elegant composer. Me on the other hand, I have the pointy teeth and the booty feathers (which bug me to no end). I act more like an pegasus then my sister does. Always wanting to get dirty and feel free, not that all pegasus's act like that. Our father did though. Other then those few oddities, I look like a normal unicorn. I used a levitation spell to bring both mine, and my sisters, things into the cart. It was one of those earth pony carts, the ones you get to pull with your body. Now I may not be an earth pony, but I can lift my own weight. I strapped myself in and started to walk towards the towns train station. Grace came into pace with me, and gave me a look of disapproval. "Why are you using that? Its meant for EARTH ponies. Not graceful unicorns." I scoffed at her, "Graceful unicorn my butt. I may be our mothers child, but I have fathers kluzy behavior." She laughed at me, and gave me a pointy toothed smile, "Now that's something I can agree with you on there Dawnie-boo!" Oh god. Not that outrageous nick name... I wanted to slam my head into a nearby poll (not that it would work out, ya know...I am a unicorn). As we neared the train station I veered to the right, towards the library. Unstrapping myself and using the prior spell to carry the books as we neared the entrance. Gracie , aka Sterling Grace my sister, rambled on about how different earth ponies and unicorns were as I walked in to the library. I greeted the librarian as the young mare gave me a warm smile. Weaving my way around other ponies and shelves of books I put all the ones me and my sister had borrowed back in their rightful places. I found my sister talking the librarians ear off about a book she read the other night. Rolling my eyes I tugged at her long tail with my magic and dragged her off. Finally making it to the station a stallion took our things and put them in our compartment, much to my displeasure. I don't like being treated like I'm delegate. After giving him a small, forced smile I sat down on the only place to sit. Gracie shoved her self by the window before I even had time to tell her to get on the train. A few minutes before the train took off, this old mare wobbled her way on and searched for a seat. And there being none I started to feel guilty. Nopony got up for her. Finally coming to an agreement with my self, I got up and strolled down the isle to her. "Ma'am. You can have my seat over there by my sister." Now just noticing me she spoke softly and slow, "No thank you my dear, I'm just fine. I needn't your seat." Giving my best smile I replied, "Oh but I insist! I'm young enough to last a few hours standing its fine really. Please take my seat." Take it please I'm trying to be nice. The mare gave me a blank stare before her eyes started to well up with tears. She held them back and gave me a toothy smile. Great I made her cry, way to go me. "Why, you are such a nice mare. To be honest my legs are killing me. Thank you, really." I helped her hobble over to my empty seat, and lifted her with my magic onto it. After a while, talk started on the train once it started on its way to Canterlot. I heard some things about an alicorn prince and apprentices. I looked over at my sister to see that her and the old mare were talking about the book the latter had on her. Deciding that she was in the okay to leave along for a few, I walked my way down the isle to a group of four who where talking about the apprentices. "Yeah I heard that Queen Twilight and Queen Cadence were holding a test today for it." The one with a long blue mane said. Wanting to not look like a creep just casually listening in, I asked a question. "Do you know what these test are exactly?" The blue maned mare looked to me, "No clue. But I also head this other rumor that they are looking for certain traits. Like kindness and leadership." The stallion next to her gave me a bored look, "I heard that they are looking for new element bearers, ya know. Like Queen Twilight and her friends." The other three nodded their heads. Blue-Mane looked at her group of friends and then motioned me to come closer, "There's also the floating rumor that Queen Twilight is looking for a certain mare with a good head on her shoulders to marry off her son to. Prince Keiran." That's a bit harsh, "Wow really? Never took the Queen as one to not give her children a choice at love." Blue-Mane laughed at my statement, "You hear me wrong deary, what I meant was that he already has a mare in mind but can't find her, Queen Twilight is looking for that mare. A certain mare with a good head on her shoulders." "Not sure that makes any more sense then what you originally said but eyokie." She waved her hoof in the air, "Yeah I know I seem to not make sense a lot." The unicorn in front of her yelled out a 'Ain't that the truth!' They all started laughing. Giving my thanks and a small smile I walked back to my sister. Well tried anyway. As I turned to attempt to go back, my front legs twisted around each other causing me to fall on my face. "Are you okay?" A bored voice from above me said. It was a dark unicorn with piercing gold eyes and a elegant looking cloak. He looked down at me with indifference. After awkwardly picking my self up I looked up at him, "Uh yeah. I think. Sorry for almost falling on you, kinda not all that good at the walking thing." I gave a nervous chuckle and ran my right hoof on the ground a couple times. Looking me in the eye, effectively giving me chills, he gave a slight nod of...approval? "You are forgiven I suppose." After giving me one final look down, he walked around my body, lightly touching me with his tail giving me even more chills. My eyes automatically followed his every movement until he was out of sight. Still looking at where he went, I made it to me seat and sat in the isle next to the old made and listened to hers and Gracie's slow passed discussion.
