> His Love for Her > by Cami > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > Chapter 1 > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Discord sat alone in his realm, perched on an orange stool that hung from the ceiling, pondering his true feelings for his dearest friend, Fluttershy. There was no doubt about it: the draconequus cared very much for the pegasus as she was his first friend. But he couldn’t help but want something more with her. Oh, how he wanted to reveal his love to the mare. The only problem was that he wasn’t exactly sure how. He was still pretty new to the concept of friendship, after all, and he didn’t want to jeopardize what he already had. Regardless, Discord was a god; therefore, he, of all creatures, could find a way to express his love to the pony that changed him. Discord snapped his eagle claw and the stool grew in size as it sprouted lilac branches complete with fuzzy lavender leaves. Just as it did so, a light bulb appeared above Discord’s head. “I could just ask for advice!” he cooed. “Oh, but who does one ask in a situation like this?” He frowned as he stroked his beard with his lion paw. Another light bulb appeared above the first and he snapped his claws. The draconequus hesitantly knocked on the door to Carousel Boutique. “It’s open!” came a youthful filly’s voice. With a flash, Discord appeared inside the clothing shop, towering over the cutie mark crusaders. “Where is your sister, Sweetie Bell?” he asked the white unicorn filly in the middle. “I’ll get her for you.” the filly smiled and the earth pony and pegasus covered their ears. “RARITY! DISCORD WANTS TO SEE YOU!” The crusaders left the boutique in the dust as they ran off. “Oh, Sweetie Bell!” the white unicorn mare grunted. She sighed and faced the draconequus. “What can I do for you, Discord, darling?” “Uh, well...you see...I-I umm…” He slapped his head in defeat. “I can’t help you if you don’t tell me,” Rarity said. “Come with me.” He obediently followed the mare to a divan sofa and they both took a seat. She awaited his problem. “Rarity,” he took a deep breath, something he learned from Twilight, “I really like somepony.” he admitted. “Oh? Who? Do tell!” she urged. “Fluttershy.” Rarity giggled. “I know.” “What?!” He cheeks grew scarlette. “How did you know?” “You look at her differently than you do to any of us. And don’t think I don’t know about the weekly tea parties and the letters. You were jealous of Fluttershy taking Tree Hugger to the gala rather than you and-” “I get the picture!” he growled, but quickly softened up, “What am I going to do?” “Did you ever think that maybe Fluttershy likes you too?” Discord stared at the unicorn as if she was speaking another language. Of course Fluttershy likes him, but does she like him the way he likes her? Rarity gasped dramatically. “Idea!” she sang as she brought Discord to his feet. Discord found himself enveloped in many different colors of fabric and floating needles and thread sewing in midair. “Well I do love a good makeover!” “Oh, how couldn’t you? My Spikey Wikey absolutely adores my dressing up!” she beamed. A look of concern came over him. “How do you and Spike do it?” Discord asked. “Beg your pardon?” “I mean, you’re two different species and then there’s the age difference. How do you and Spike make your relationship work?” Rarity was slightly taken aback, then grinned at his worry. “Spike and I are very similar. But we’re also quite different. It’s our differences that make our relationship work,” she explained as her sky blue aura enveloped and tightened Discord’s bow tie. She then summoned a mirror as tall as Discord. “I feel you and Fluttershy will be as happy as me and Spike.” Discord looked himself over in the mirror and for the first time in his life, he thought he actually looked handsome. The dress shirt was a crisp, clean white, while the vest and bow tie were a shade of teal like Fluttershy’s eyes. Rarity levitated a black jacket to complete the tux. “How do I tell her?” he wondered. The unicorn didn’t need an explanation of his question. “Do something you think will make her happy,” she advised. “Well, I did make her something… I don’t know if she’ll like it.” “Discord, I want you to think about Fluttershy for a minute to determine if she’ll like your gift.” He did as told. Fluttershy was the pony who kept him from being turned to stone for a third time. She was the only pony who even gave me a chance. She was the mare who would do anything for him. She could always bring him out of the dumps. She actually enjoys his company. She was the sweetest pony he’d ever met. Of course she’d love and cherish something from him! “You know, I believe she will!” he said with delight. “Good. Now be gone and win Fluttershy’s heart!” Rarity exclaimed as she pushed the draconequus towards the exit. Before they made it to the door, Discord snapped his paw in excitement and was teleported in front of Fluttershy’s cottage. He gingerly knocked on the door, which opened almost immediately. “Oh, h-hello Discord! You look nice,” the yellow pegasus greeted cheerfully, “come on in.” He thanked her with a smile as he walked inside. “What brings you here?” “I have a present for you, my dear!” He snapped his eagle claw and a box wrapped in black and white paper materialized in front of Fluttershy. “That’s very sweet of you, Discord. Thank you!” She tore the paper gently and inside the box was the most beautiful flower crown she’d ever seen. It was made with forget-me-nots, along with their stems, some buds, and a sprinkle of silver glitter. “I made it myself. I didn’t even use magic!” he stated proudly. “Disc-” “Okay, fine. I cast a spell on it so it won’t die.” he admitted. “I love it! It’s so pretty!” “Not as pretty as you, dear Fluttershy.” Her cheeks grew as bubblegum pink as her hair. Discord scooped her up and brought her in an embrace. He whispered,“You know, the flowers will never wilt...just like my love for you.” “And mine for you!”
