Chapter 1
Prissy, Polite and a Farmer Alright!
Applejack lay underneath a tall standing apple tree on one of her orchard hills. The blazing sun slightly catching the tangerine tinted fur on her face. She wasn't sleeping exactly, but she was taking a well deserved rest. A small straw of hay inserted comfortably in her mouth. She sighed. It was a perfect day for a small bit of relaxation. She knew she'd have to start working again pretty soon, but she wanted to enjoy the moment all she could. The moment she was embracing in lasted all of about 15 minutes (quite a while for a farm pony such as Applejack) until~
"AGHHHH", screamed a familiar raspy voice.
The Rainbow maned Pegasus seemed to have flown too fast and lost control. She hit one of the Apple trees only a few yards away from where the earth pony lay. It was as though she flew around Equestria about six times. But obviously the cyan Pegasus had something better to do. For once.
"Rainbow Dash, are you okay sugar?"
The pony grunted. She flew from the tree she hit and rubbed her head. She then spoke in a very troubled tone. "No I am not okay, sugar cube. I just hit one of your rock solid apple trees at about 250 miles per hour! Not to mention...this"
The Pegasus looked down at her body. She was wearing a layered, laced, hot pink ensemble. It had a cream fru-fru collar and she had humongous pearl earrings attached to her ears. She attempted to hide these earrings by flattening her ears, but it was too late. The pony she least wanted to see at this present time had already feasted her eyes at the ghastly sight.
Applejack bit her lip. Her cheeks inflating with the laughter she attempted to keep in. It was making her stomach hurt. She had to let it out.
"Pfft bwahahaha!" Applejack cried out in her signature country accent. The laugh lasted at least 20 seconds.
Rainbow Dash moved her ears back, glaring at her friend. Applejack was just on the floor holding her stomach and attempting to breathe.
"Shut it!"
"C-could you not see where y'all were goin' cos of all the fancy layers in the way!" Applejack laughed. "Id'a thought a wonderbolt like you could never get overpowered by a piece of." She snorted "A p-piece of LACE!".
Applejack was in a fit of laughter on the warm grassy field. The blue pony before her was outraged.
"That's not the reason why I crashed!" She yelled.
"What was it then? Were ya too scared of your fancy earrings that ya'll just had to keep flyin' and get away from them?!" The orange pony laughed.
"I was trying to get away from Rarity you stupid idiot! Why else would I wear something like this? Do you really think I'm enjoying this?"
"You seemed to enjoy the spa treatment!" Applejack chuckled, tears streaming down her face.
Dash glared. Applejack let out the last few chuckles she had left within her and turned to her annoyed friend.
"Who-ee! Hehe. What was it Rarity did to you this time?". Applejack said. Her simply speaking the word caused her to blush. Obviously Rainbow Dash didn't let this go unnoticed.
Rainbow smirked. "You're blushing, Applesmack", said the mischievous Pegasus as though she were a villain seeking revenge.
"Shut up, Rainbow Fash. At least ah ain't the one wearin' that!" The orange mare indicated at the dress her friend was still wearing.
"Ugh"
Rainbow Dash unzipped the gown from the side, practically ripped it of and then tossed it as far away from her as she could.
"I couldn't stand all that anymore! You know how much I can't stand all that girly stuff. So I flew away as fast as I could because Rarity has magic and all. I sorta lost control because of this thing", Dash said, turning her head to the dress.
"R-right", Applejack replied.
The earth pony's eyes began to wonder and she started fidgeting. Rainbow Dash was the only pony who knew about Applejacks feelings towards the white unicorn. This was plainly because when Rainbow Dash found her way of learning and revising for her wonderbolts exam, she managed to use it to put her theory to the test. 'Does Applejack like Rarity?' Obviously the result turned out well for Rainbow, but not so much for Applejack. Rainbow would use this knowledge in all her comebacks and jokes. Applejack had no way of winning against her friendly rival.
"You know Applejack, I really don't want to be going back to Rarity's anytime soon", said the menacing mare.
"So I was wondering if you can take Rarity's dress back for me? As the element of loyalty it is my job to make sure I can be the best for my friends, and I'm sure you'd be honest enough to yourself to realise how Rarity wouldn't want one of her best gowns stranded on a farm, hmm?" said Dash sarcastically.
"You want me to take the dress back?"
"Well it would help your cause. Not to mention hilarious to watc- I mean 'beautiful' to watch...hehe"
"Why are you so interested in mah love life anyway?"
"I just like watching you embarrassed. It's entertaining"
"Well ah am not doin' this for your entertainment, Dash. I'll take Rarity's dress back but only because ah am a GOOD friend."
"And you want a excuse to see her", Rainbow mumbled under her breath
Applejack glared at her. She said nothing, however. Instead she trotted over to the dress Rainbow Dash tossed and put it onto her back and started making her way to Carousel Boutique.
"I take it you liked my idea?" said Dash.
Applejack cursed under her breath, Rainbow Dash laughed.
"Whelp, I'll see you later Applesmack!" she shouted to her friend. And with that, she flew up onto a cloud a few metres in the sky above her. She glided along on it to follow her orange friend, who was paying no attention to her anymore.
"This is what you get for insulting Rainbow Daring Dash!" Rainbow whispered.
Applejack was a few paces from the Boutique when she started to question what she was going to do. What she was going to say. They were going to be alone together. Should she confess? Should she finally put Rainbow Dash's mocking to rest? Yes! She was! Or was she? Was she going to- oh no.
"Applejack darling, come in!"
Rarity had seen her through the window, she had no time to prepare herself!
Applejack took a deep breath and trotted inside gingerly, careful not to trip over herself or to step in the wrong place.
Rarity closed the door.
"What brings you here, dear? I must say this is a lovely surprise!"
Applejack gulped. "Uh R-Rainbow Dash crashed into mah f-farm. She uh threw this off.
The earth pony edged the dress carefully off her back, caught it with the same hoof and passed it to Rarity, who took it in her magic.
"Oh darling thank you so much! I never thought I'd see this dress again!" said Rarity.
She used her magic to carefully fold the dress and place it in her washing pile. She then pulled Applejack into a friendly hug, causing the orange mare to rapidly flush. This could be seen ever so clearly on her face. Applejack could hear snickering from outside and she knew who it was.
"For Pete sake, Rainbow Dash. Can't ah have a little privacy", Applejack thought to herself.
Rarity instantly pulled away from the hug when she felt sweat being released from Applejack.
"Dear are you alright? You seem awfully flushed!" Rarity said.
"Ah-ahm might fine, Rares. Don't you worry bout' me", responded Applejack.
"Say no more, dear! I refuse to let my best friend overheat! I shall be back in a moment for I am making you an iced latte! Sugar, dear?" said Rarity
"S-sugar?! O-oh r-right s-s-sugar hehe. One, p-please", stammered AJ.
Rarity shot a worried yet curious look to Applejack before elegantly trotting away to her kitchen.
"I'm sure you'd like more than one sugar from Rarity, huh Applejack?", snickered Rainbow through one of the windows.
Applejack indicated a 'slitting throat' action towards Rainbow Dash, who then innocently smiled and backed away from the window a little.
Before long Rarity returned with two cups filled with iced latte. Not that Applejack cared what type it was. She just called it 'coffee'. But Rarity being Rarity, everything had its own different name with her.
They trotted over to a sofa, where Rarity lay, and a chair, where Applejack sat. They both took sips of their drinks before Rarity broke the silence.
"What has gotten you so troubled dear? You're still blushing..."
Applejack almost chocked on her coffee, causing Dash to laugh from outside.
"Oh my I didn't mean to trouble you even more, sweetie. It must be very important. Please don't hesitate if you feel uncomfortable."
"No! Ah-ah mean...yes. I wanna tell ya but ah just...can't", sighed Applejack.
"Can't? Dear we're best friends! You can tell me anything!"
"Ah want to but it's difficult...for one way or another"
After saying this, Applejack turned her head to the window where Rainbow Dash was, attempting to shoot her a glare. But to her surprise, Dash was looking at her kindly. Not sarcastically or menacingly. She smiled at Applejack, swirling her hoof forward as if to say "Go on, say it". Applejack smiled back at her.
"Well?"
"Ah-ah ...ah'm in love with you Rarity! Ah have been for whoever knows long. Everythin' about ya'll is amazin'. The way you act, your generosity, everythin'! Ah love you because of how much you make me realise who ah am. Ah hate seein' you break your heart over all them fancy stallions, but ah just wanna let ya'll know that ah would never treat you like that. Ah know I'm a mare and not posh or fancy. But ah can make you the princess you always wanted to be. I love-"
Applejack was interrupted with a powerful kiss to her lips where Rarity had met her at an embrace. Rarity hugged Applejack tightly and then pulled away.
"I thought you didn't feel the same!" screeched Rarity!
"I have loved you for quite some time now. Slowly and gradually, but more than I ever have for any pony. The only pony that's ever known was-"
"Rainbow Dash!" they both said in unison. They looked out the window to see Rainbow Dash doing some odd dance.
"I am 20% cooler than Cupid and love potions! Aw yeah!" said Rainbow Dash from the outside.
Applejack and Rarity both smiled at her, then eachother. Applejack took a deep breath.
"Rarity, will you...be mah m-marefriend?" said Applejack.
"Of cause I will!" screamed Rarity.
Applejack may not know much about love or romance, but she knew that she had the right mare to teach her about everything along the way. She loved Rarity, and Rarity loved her. That was all that mattered
