> Under your wing > by Comeonideodic > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > Last day in canterlot > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- As Twilight Sparkle woke, taking her first lucid inhalation, she let out a small groan while her stomach growled. The smell of pancakes filled every corner and crevice of her parents house. Twilight remembered, she was in Canterlot celebrating her fathers birthday. She left at the start of the week, giving all of her friends hugs and leaving them back at the ponyville train station. Blushing a little, she remembered that awkward hug she gave Rainbow before leaving. "stupid crush.." Trying quickly to forget that she instead thought of the send off Pinkie gave her. She could swear she still felt all that confetti falling onto her body. With her back giving an involuntary shiver at the memory, she smiled softly to herself. Wiping her eyes with her forehoovs, she got up from her old childhood bed with a few loud pops from her joints and headed over to her nightstand. Grabbing her brush, she went to work on her knotted mane and tail. Getting ready to start her last day she had in Canterlot. Walking down the stairs towards the kitchen was like some sort of horror movie, and boy did she ever hate them. She shivered as the smell of those amazing pancakes got stronger. Making her stomach rumbling grow audibly louder. "Only I would say its like a horror movie.." Twilight giggled to herself and walked into the kitchen. Only find her father flipping pancakes at the stove with the new cook wear she got him for his birthday. Also spotting her mother sitting at the table sipping a cup of freshly made green tea. Smiling to herself, she went to sit down only to stop dead in her tracks. Something was missing.. "Mother where are Shining and Cadence? Did they leave without saying goodbye?" asked Twilight with hint of sadness in her voice. "Twilight dear, you know they would never do that on purpose. They had to leave early as for something came up at the crystal empire. We didn't want to wake you that early so they left telling your father and I they would make it up to you somehow." said her mother while taking a sip of her tea. Twilight understood, she could be kind of grumpy if she was woken up too early. Though she was still sad she couldn't say goodbye to them face to face. "Don't worry honey, I know exactly what will cheer you up!" Looking over to her father, she saw a stack of wonderful blueberry pancakes being levetated over to the table. With her stomach rumbling and drool slipping out of her mouth, she quickly sat down and began to stuff her gullet with the wonderful fluffy goodness. With her plate being completely cleared of all pancakes, she sat back in her chair while rubbing her belly with a hoof in complete satisfaction. "Your pancakes will always be the best dad." Twilight stated as if it was a fact. "Why thank you very much." He said in a weird voice while bowing to Twilight, making her chuckle. "Did I ever tell you that I want to start my very own restaurant someday?" Night Light said while giving a genuine smile at the two mares in the room. Twilight started busting a gut, laughing uncontrollably. He sat down facing his daughter with an unamused stare, but soon gave into the contagious giggles that were emanating from Twilight. His wife soon falling short after he did. Once said giggle attack was over, they all sat looking at each other, quickly trying to catch there breath. "ok ok.. I'm sorry for laughing, Its actually a good idea! But do you even have the bits to do something like that? Or the time?" asked Twilight genuinely curious. "Its a no on the bits, though I do have the time. I guess its always an idea for the older me. Benefits am I right?" he said making his wife laugh. "Though in all seriousness, I'm more than happy cooking for you young lady's." Night Light stated with a smile. "Now enough about me, what are your plans for today? You only have a couple hours before you have to leave you know." He said with a hint of sadness while gesturing over to the clock on the wall. Twilight's eyes followed his foreleg only to realise that he was right. It was 11:34 and her train for ponyvile left at 2:30. "heh.. I think I have something in mind." Twilight said with a little blush. Heading up to her room she quickly grabbed her saddlebags and the rest of the bits she had brought with her. Twilight soon found herself taking a rather long walk to, what it looked liked to her, a pretty expensive looking spa. Aventures de détente is what she could read on the sign above the grand double doors. Rarity had told her to bring enough bits to go to a decent spa. She said it would help get Rainbow to notice her. This crush she had on her cyan friend was not something of recent events. If Twilight had to guess, she developed feelings for the Pegasus the first time she encountered her. She had always dismissed her thoughts about Rainbow, at least until it became to much to handle. That's when she decided to tell Rarity. Twilight just loved everything about Rainbow. The speed she could fly and her always daring, do anything personality. Her well tended to body and her gorgeous cyan wings. Twilight knew that Dash could be a little brash and arrogant sometimes, but she didn't mind it. While having conversations with her, she had to try really hard to not get lost in those dreamy, magenta eyes. Snapping herself back to reality, she quickly headed for the huge spa doors with a beet red face which was clearly noticeable to anypony walking by. As she walked into the spa, she basked in the level of detail this place was giving off. There were statues of ponies little and big, exotic plants she had never seen before in her life, even artwork that looked like they could be well over 700 bits. "definitely a Canterlot building.. I hope I have enough bits on me to cover this." she mentally worried to herself. She had brought a fair bit with her. 75 to be exact. she did have 100 bits, but she bought her father a cast iron cooking set for his birthday a couple days ago. He loved it. Twilight glanced at the pony sitting at the desk, then at the chalk board above her with all the services she could get here. "hooficure no, massage no, waxing definitely not. Who on Equestria would want that? Aha, here we go, a mud bath. Its only 60 bits too! Perfect." She thought to herself with a smile, happy this spa had what she was looking for. "um, excuse me miss, but I was wondering if I could try one of your mud baths?" Twilight asked the pony sitting behind the desk. Rarity had suggested a mud bath if they had one. She had absolutely no idea why specifically a mud bath, but she trusted the beauty guru more than herself when It came to anything like this. Looking towards Twilight, The spa pony smiled."Ahh a mud bath, an excellent choice if I must say so myself. If that's your final decision, your total is 60 bits. Although If you would like a private room, that will be and extra 5 bits." The spa pony offered with a cheery smile. Twilight thought about the offer. She could imagine being quite embarrassed with other ponies she didn't know in the same bath as her. Specially one that's filled with mud. Reaching into her saddlebags, she handed the pony 65 bits and waiting for her to put them into the register. "Please wait here, I will be right back." The spa pony said smiling as she left down one of the many corridors, most likely getting a room prepared. Coming back a little later, The spa pony beckoned Twilight to follow her down the hall. "Here we are, room 74. I will have some pony come to get you in an hour or so. Please enjoy your stay!" said the spa pony, turning around and heading back to her desk. Twilight opened the door, eager to try out this 'mud bath'. Walking in, she heard the door close behind her. The room was fairly small. Big enough to fit a decent sized tub with mud in it, a shower for washing the mud off after. Candles also littered the room to set the mood lighting and soft music played through the speaker above the tub. Plastic wrap could be seen on the floor leading to the shower from the tub as well as a rather large mirror covering one of the walls. Twilight wondered when or if she would get a towel. She didn't feel like air drying outside. Taking a glance at the tub, she pondered at how to get in it properly. Having never done this before, she decided to get in like she would her own tub at the library. She put her left front and back legs in first, waiting for them to hit the bottom of the tub. She had to admit, it felt rather nice. Bringing her right front leg over the tub as well as her back right leg, she giggled as she realized she was now surrounded by mud. Never in her life would she have thought to try this. Positioning her back so it was against the curve of the tub's back wall, she rested against it feeling the mud squish out around her back from the pressure. Sighing, she realised how relaxing this actually was, she would have to remember to thank Rarity later. "Maybe I can get Dash to somehow do this with me at the ponyville spa.." Twilight laughed out loud at that thought. Knowing full well that Rainbow was a mare of action and would never have anything to do with a spa, or just beauty in general. Though that didn't matter to Twilight, as for Dash was absolutely beautiful to her anyways. Even if Rainbow had just woken up from one of her best flying dreams she had ever had, Twilight would still think her friend was the cutest thing in Equestria. Though Dash would deny it. She was not cute, she was awesome. Visibly blushing and giggling to herself, she closed her eyes and focused on the music playing through the speaker. Letting herself fall fast asleep. Finally putting the finishing touches to her outfit, Twilight smiled to herself in the mirror. "hey Twi, Ready for our.. date?" Asked Rainbow standing in the doorway to Twilights bedroom. Twilight turned to face her marefriend and blushed a dark red as she saw what Rainbow was sporting. She had her hair in a ponytail, lightning bolt earrings, and a purple dress similar to Twilights coat. "Rainbow, you look beautiful." Twilight said with love and truth in her voice. Twilight knew she was the only pony Rainbow would let call her beautiful and she abused it like crazy. Rainbow blushed. "heh.. Thanks. Your not lookin to shabby yourself." she said as she looked over her marefriend. Twilight's outfit was fairly similar to Rainbows. She had her hair resting gracefully along her shoulders, perfectly styled bangs, purple six sided star earrings, and a Cyan dress with the colour matching Rainbow's coat. "So.. Shall we head out? Our reservation is in 15 minutes." Dash said as she walked towards her marefriend. "Sounds like a plan Dashie." Twilight said with a smile as she quickly stole a kiss from her marefriends lips. With a now frozen and surprised Rainbow Dash standing in front of her, Twilight ran down the stairs and out her front door. Snapping back to reality, Dash grinned. "Oh no you don't egghead!" she said turning around, running after her now laughing marefriend. Twilight awoke to the sound of knocking. Opening her eyes, she sighed in defeat as she realized it was all just a dream that her ever so crushing brain and heart had conjured up. The door then opened, revealing an older unicorn mare. "I'm sorry to interrupt you miss, but I'm afraid your time is up. Please wash yourself in the shower and dry with this towel." The pony asked as she set down the towel she was carrying on the floor by the shower. "You may leave it outside your room on the hook when you are done." she stated, smiling and walking away. "mm, okay." Twilight said with her still half asleep voice to no pony. Hearing the door close, she reluctantly got out of the mud filled tub and stepped onto the plastic path leading towards the shower. Getting into the shower she started washing herself off, making sure to get all the mud off her body. Once done, she then stepped out of the shower and grabbed the towel in her magic. Using it to quickly dry herself off. As she walked out of her room, she put the towel on the hook like she was told. Turning, she walked down the hall leading into the main foyer. Giving a thanks to the pony at the cash register, she walked out the big double doors and right into the busy streets of Canterlot. Weaving her way around back to her parents house to give them a big hug goodbye. Rainbow Dash could be found sat in the main room of Twilight Sparkles library alongside her friends and spike. They had just completed the set up for the big surprise party Twilight was going to get. There were drinks, snacks, and even a couple games for them to all enjoy. But Dash was hiding something.. Something special she hadn't shown or told any pony yet. Rainbow had in her possession the new horror film everypony was goin crazy about. A nightmare on Trottingham street. Oh how she couldn't wait to reveal it to her friends later. At that thought, she cracked a knowing grin. This was turning out to be one hay of a night. > The train ride of remembrance > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sighing, twilight looked out the window of the train. If she had to take a guess, she would say she's been on the thing for about half an hour. "At least I can catch up on some reading." Twilight thought to herself. Pulling her book from her saddlebags, Twilight sighed as she read the title. Daring Do and the sorcerers stone. Thinking back, this was the book that her and Rainbow had read on there last reading night together. With a blush, She remembered that night and how surreal it felt to her. Twilight happily sighed as she looked around her library's interior. She had cleaned and prepared the whole place for Rainbow's arrival. She wanted this place to be spotless after all, for tonight was there last reading night before she had to leave for Canterlot. "Having the whole family together again after so long will be fun, but being away from Rainb- my friends for a whole week?" Twilight knew she was fooling herself with that thought. Never has she had a crush this bad, and having to be away from her for a whole week? "Just try to focus on having fun, okay Twilight?" She mentally told herself. Though her thoughts were abruptly stopped by knocking at the door. "hey Rainbow, Your early!" Twilight asked surprised as she opened the door, revealing her cyan friend. "What? I cant show up early for our last reading night?" Dash said with a frown and a mock hurtful tone, making Twilight giggle. "Oh, and I brought my things for the sleepover." She said with a smile while flashing her saddlebags on her back towards Twilight. "Perfect! Well, come in and make yourself at home." Twilight smiled as she moved out of her doorway. Beckoning dash to come in with her foreleg. "You can put ur things up in my room for now. I also hope you remembered not to eat before coming over because I happen to have your favorite soup simmering on the stove." Twilight said smirking. She could have swore she saw her friends mouth start to water. Rainbow smiled as she walked past Twilight into the main room of the library. The soup's aroma quickly filling her nostrils. "Aww you didn't have to do that for me Twi! I mean, Its not really our last reading session.. Is it?" Rainbow asked cautiously, not sure if Twilight wasn't telling her something. "No! There will most definitely be more reading nights. Trust me, I wouldn't stop our reading nights for anything." Twilight said smiling with a little blush, quickly averting her gaze and finding the floor boards way more interesting than they once were. Dash smiled fondly as she felt her heart warm up at her friends words. "heh, me neither Twi.." She said as an awkward silence started to set in over the room. "Uhm.. I'm gunna go put my stuff upstairs.. Then ill come back down and we can eat?" She asked, heading towards the stairs leading to Twilights bedroom. "Y-yeah, sounds good!" twilight said flashing a nervous smile at her friend before retreating into the kitchen. "I guess that could have gone worse.." Sighing, she grabbed two bowls and filled them with soup, setting them down on her kitchen table across from one another. Sitting down, she waited for Rainbow. Walking into the kitchen dash sat down across from her friend. She eyed the soup and grabbed her spoon in her wing. Her eyes widened as she tasted it for the first time. "Mmm, wow Twilight! This is amazing!" Dash said as she continued to sip the liquid goodness from her bowl. "T-thanks rainbow. I'm really glad you like it, I spent all day preparing it." Twilight said smiling as she grabbed her own spoon with her magic, eager to try her soup that she slaved over. Wow did she ever do a good job. Giving a content sigh, Rainbow sat back in her chair and patted her belly with a hoof while looking at Twilight. Making twilight look away with a blush. "Twilight, you've gotta invite me over whenever you make this again. Honestly, was the best bowl of soup I've had since I left my parents house!" Rainbow said with a genuine smile. "R-really? Um, well your welcome then!" Twilight said with a big smile while grabbing there bowls in her magic and putting them in the sink. "So, what do you think Dash? Do you think its time to officially start our reading night?" Twilight asked with a smile as she grabbed there pillows and the latest Daring Do book she has been hiding for this particular night. Trotting into the main room of the library, she set them down in front of the fireplace. Quickly making herself comfortable on her own pillow. Rainbow followed Twilight into the main room. "You know what? I think it is my dear Twilight." She said smirking and lying down on her pillow next to Twilight, making Twilight blush. Looking in front of her friend she saw the latest Daring Do book resting in between her forelegs. "You have the new Daring Do! You have SO been holding out on me haven't you?" With a blush from her friend, Dash chuckled as she realized Twilight was holding out on her. "Well then, what are we waiting for? Lets read this thing!" She said rather exited, making Twilight giggle as she grabbed the book in her magic. Opening it to the first page. About halfway through the book, Twilight found herself right pressed up against her friend's side. How she got into this situation, she had no idea. Though she was intrigued and curious to see where things would lead if she pressed her luck further. Twilight looked over her friend and her eyes crossed Rainbow's neck. Twilight quickly blushed a dark red as she pondered if she should perform the action she was thinking about. "Well.. Nothing ventured, nothing gained right?" Twilight thought to herself. With a big burst of confidence, she moved her head delicately into the crook of her friends neck. Rainbow's body tensed up as she felt something soft press against her exposed neck. Taking her eyes off the very enjoyable book, she looked over only to see Twilight softly trying to snuggle her way into her side. She blushed as Twilights body friction caused her to shiver. Rainbow would be lying to herself if she said she didn't like the foreign warmth and closeness that her friend was providing. With this new found warmth Dash found her wing involuntarily extending over her friends back, putting Twilight under a full-on wing blanket. She then looked at Twilight and gave a content smile as she put her attention back to the patiently waiting book. Twilight could swear she was in heaven right now. her hooves were tingling and her back was shivering as she tried to press even more into her friends side. Which in turn, made Rainbow's wing wrap securely around her barrel. Twilight thought her heart was going to melt. Giving a heavenly sigh she quickly found her eyes becoming heavy, soon giving into the wonderful world of dreams wrapped in a cyan cocoon. "Please excuse the interruption. We will be arriving at Ponyville train station in 5 minutes time." A very loud and obnoxious voice said over the intercoms of the train, waking Twilight from her wonderful slumber. She quickly sighed, but began to laugh a little as she realized how much she had been sighing lately. Looking out the window of the train, Twilights smiled as she saw the familiar hills and fields of Ponyville's country side. Soon she would see her friends again, soon she would see Rainbow again. Blushing, she wondered how to greet her friend after.. well. that night. Hearing the train's brakes activate pushed that worry away as she realized, she was finally home. > SUPRISE! > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Glancing up at the clock on Twilights wall, Rainbow sighed in annoyance as she read the time. There was still about 5 minutes until Twilights train would arrive. She did have an idea as to why, but she just couldn't get Twilight out of her mind after there little cuddle session they had about a week ago. All Rainbow could focus on was the warmth and softness of Twilights coat, the comfort she felt as Twilight tried to squirm more and more into her side, the fluttery feeling in her heart as she, in a rather protective manner, wrapped her wing around her friends barrel in a tight wing hug. Blushing a bright red, she sighed loudly yet again while setting the book she was failing to read on the desk beside her with a loud thump. "Rainbow dear, is something wrong? You have been doing that for the past half hour." Rarity said with a hint of annoyance in her voice. Looking over in Rarity's direction, Rainbow mustered up the best smile she could at the moment. "I'm fine Rarity. Just uh, thinking about things." Looking over her friend closely, Rarity took notice to how red her friends face was, again. Rainbow has clearly been flustered about something for a while. In fact, every time Rarity had come across her friend this week Rainbow had been in some state of deep thought. Apparently Rainbow hadn't even shown up to help Apple Jack at the farm which was something she had never missed in the past. Now that she thought about it, she did recall Twilight talking about her and Rainbow's reading session last week before she left for Canterlot. Something about how much of a dream it felt like to her. Rarity seemed to remember Twilights face being equally as red to Rainbows right now. "How have I never put two and two together!" She thought with a smile tugging at her lips. Clearing her throat, she put most of her attention back to the scarf she was currently knitting. "Rainbow dear if there's anything you need to talk about, anything at all, you should know that I'm here to listen." Rarity said with a sincere smile, causing Rainbow to sink back into the couch with a groan. Smirking, Rarity was confident she had figured out why rainbow has been blushing so profusely all week. Her and Twilight will have to have a talk later. Twilight gave a happy smile as her hooves made contact with the hot pavement of ponyville's train station. She was finally home, and what a journey it was. Her library wasn't to far away from the train station about a 7 minute walk, so Twilight made sure her saddlebags were strapped tight around her belly and started to make the walk home. She was more than ready to settle down with a nice cup of tea and a good old Daring Do book. "Speaking of Daring Do.. How am I going to greet Rainbow Dash when I see her?" With her mind now in deep thought, she strolled her way through the cobblestone streets of ponyville towards her destination. "TWILIGHTS HERE TWILIGHTS HERE!" Pinkie screamed as she saw her friend walking towards the library. "Alright everypony, ya'll know what to do!" AppleJack said while getting into her hiding spot. The rest of her friends soon following and getting into there hiding spots as well. Stopping in front of her door, Twilight reached into her saddlebags to find her key. Once said key was found she put it in the slot and opened her door with a rather loud creek, "I need to get that oiled." She mused to herself while stepping inside and unstrapping her saddlebags, setting them down on the floor beside her. Closing the door, Twilight looked around her library and stopped dead in her tracks a she saw something hanging in front of her face. "A white card?" Quickly peering closer to the card, she opened it with her magic and read what it said. "Surprise?" she said out loud to herself, confused as to what it meant. "SUPRISE!" All her friends said in unison as they jumped out into the open from there hiding spots, Spike quickly turning on the lights for them. "GAHH!" Twilight screamed as she instantly dropped the card onto the floor and picked up her saddlebags in her magic to use as a shield. Hearing laughter from multiple sources, Twilight lowered her trusty saddlebag shield and groaned loudly as she laid eyes upon her grinning friends. Stomping her hoof onto the ground she tried, but failed to make the most pouty face she could. The only thing she could do was give a big wide smile. "You girls are so mean!!" She yelled as Spike ran up and hugged her foreleg. She quickly hugged him back with her free foreleg, "You weren't In on this were you?" Twilight asked with a mock hurtful look while looking down at her assistant. "Actually, he's the one that let us in." Rainbow spoke up with a smile while landing in front of Twilight. Letting go of her assistant, Twilight slowly looked up only to come face to face with Rainbow. They stood looking at one another for what seemed like an eternity, but Twilight's heart quickly took over and she found herself on the ground on top of Rainbow. Giving her friend an iron grip hug. Closing her eyes with a now dopey grin, Twilight took in a big breath of Rainbows shampoo. "Lavender?" Twilight giggled to herself, who knew being away from somepony you truly cared about would make the reunion so.. amazing. Rainbow's heart felt like it was going to melt as she got crushed in the iron grip hug. Rainbow had spent an entire week battling thoughts and feelings for this mare, only to be hugged like a stuffed bear when she goes up to say hi. She wanted to tackle Twilight back in revenge, but she knew her other friends were watching probably very curiously already. "I don't want to give' em any hints of this.. crush." Dash's eyes widened at that, was it really a crush? Did she actually fall for the egghead by cuddling up with her by a fire? Oh who was she kidding, of course she had a crush on Twilight. A pretty big crush if she had to say.. "Heh.. Contrats twilight, you managed to get the one and only Rainbow dash to fall for you." Rainbow said to herself with a smile as she started to return the hug her friend was giving. Not caring if her friends were watching anymore. "Ehem.." Rarity said while clearing her throat, trying to get both her friends attentions. Looking over at Rarity, Twilight blushed madly as she realized what she had done. "I'm terribly sorry to interrupt your little special reunion girls, but I do believe its time to get this party started. No?" Quickly getting off of her friend and stepping back, Twilight smiled weakly while doing her best to hide her insanely red face. "I-I think your right Rarity. You girls start I-I just have to put my saddlebags upstairs?" Twilight didn't mean for that to come out like a question, but she was to flustered to correct herself. Twilight quickly made her way up the stairs and into her room, all the while forgetting her saddlebags that were sat beside the door. "Twilight your saddlebags!" Rarity called up after her, but all she received was silence. Rainbow was sat on the ground with her forelegs behind her for support, her friends giving inquisitive looks at each other. Looking over at her curious friends, Rainbow saw a huge grin plastered on Rarity's face, directed right at her. Dash blushed and let herself fall onto the ground, staring up at the ceiling giving a quick sigh. "LETS GET THIS PARTY STARTED!" Pinkie yelled as she kicked the jukebox with a back hoof, letting music fill the quietness of the library. Rainbow could now tell this was going to be a rather interesting night. Twilight walked into her room and threw herself onto her bed, stuffing her head into the pillow as she heard the music start to play below her. That was not how she expected that to go at all. Twilight had thought her feelings were under control, but apparently she was wrong. How could she have been so stupid!? Rainbow probably hated her now! "Stupid stupid stupid!" She yelled into her pillow, muffling her voice. Hearing a knock at the door twilight lifted her head half expecting it to be rainbow, but instead rarity was stood in her doorway holding her saddlebags in her magic. "H-hey Rarity.. Please, come in.." Twilight said with a small smile as she turned and sat up facing her friend. Twilight knew well enough why Rarity was up here, and she was rather relived. It was nice having somepony to talk to about this stuff. Specially after that. Walking in Rarity set Twilight's saddlebags on the floor next to her nightstand, quickly exchanging them for her friends brush. Walking up to Twilight's bed, Rarity jumped up and sat down beckoning Twilight to come over and sit in font of her. "I messed up bad didn't I?" Twilight asked with concern clearly noticeable in her voice. "Not as bad as you think you did dear.. Now, mind telling me why that happened?" Rarity asked as she brushed the knots out of her friends mane. "W-well.. It was going fine! But as soon as I laid eyes on Rainbow I.. I just lost myself. Oh Rarity she probably thinks I'm crazy or something!" Twilight said trying her hardest to stay calm. How could she stay calm? She probably messed up her only chance with Rainbow all because she couldn't keep her stupid feelings at bay! Rarity sighed. She knew Twilight was rather new to the whole 'dating' scene, but she was overthinking this way too much. "Twilight listen to me." Rarity said setting down the brush and moving so she was sitting in front of Twilight, looking into her eyes. "Our dearest Rainbow does not think your crazy, trust me! Your overthinking this whole thing and you know it! Now, do get yourself cleaned up and get down there. This party is for you after all." Rarity said with a sincere smile. Twilight laughed and nodded her head at her friends words. Rarity was right, she was overthinking this too much. She always did when it came to things like this, but she couldn't help it! It was who she was! One thing was for sure though, Twilight was definitely glad she had Rarity to talk to, for she wouldn't know what to do without her. Exiting twilights room Rarity walked down the stairs and joined her friends in the kitchen, who were happily munching on snacks while having conversation with one another. Grabbing a few baby carrots in her magic, Rarity failed to notice Rainbow anywhere in the room. "Excuse me girls, but would any of you happen to know where Rainbow went?" Rarity asked confused as to why she would leave so soon. "Um, she said something about a very important package being delivered.." Fluttershy said looking over at Rarity. Rarity lowered her eyebrows in thought. "She will be coming back though right?" She asked with a hopeful tone. "Twilight would be very upset if she didn't.." "Ah believe so, she left sayin that the package was a surprise for later? Whatever that means.." Applejack said while peering at all the snacks to choose from. Giving a sigh of relief, Rarity softly bit into the carrots she was holding. Rainbow swiftly landed outside the library with a saddle bag hanging from her mouth. Looked into the main room of the library, she noticed all her friends were gone. "Probably in the kitchen, perfect.." She thought to herself. Having them out of the way while she hid her surprise made this a lot easier. Opening the door she quickly stopped and hissed as she remembered how squeaky the door was. "Damn it Twilight fix that!" She thought with a laugh and a grin. Thankfully the music overpowered the door's squeakiness, so she was in the clear, she hoped. Walking in and closing the door, Rainbow quickly flew up and decided to put her saddlebag on the highest shelf in the library. "I cant wait to show this to them later.. Especially Twilight, she's gunna love this!" She said with a happy grin as she landed on the library's floor. With her stealth mission done she headed into the kitchen to rejoin her awaiting friends. > I have a crush on Twilight Sparkle > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- The kitchen door opened with a loud creak as Rainbow stepped through with a happy step and a grin on her face. Though as Rainbow walked further into the kitchen, she noticed that all her friends were looking at her rather suspiciously. "Probably looking for my 'surprise'. " Rainbow thought to herself while looking at all her friends and chuckling. "You're not gunna find it on me guys. I hid it somewhere so no pony could find it. No one." Dash said while glaring at Pinkie who was currently stuffing her face with food. With that now out of the way, Rainbow quickly took notice to a rather important pony missing from the scene. "Hey uh, Rarity? Where's Twilight? She's not still in her room is she?" Rainbow asked while looking up to where Twilights room would be if she could see though floors. "No dear she's just cleaning up for her party is all. Her mane was quite a catastrophe after.. what happened earlier between you two.." Rarity said with a fake questioning glare towards her friend, knowing full well why that happened in the first place. Rainbow gave a nervous chuckle before glancing down and finding her hoof a lot more interesting than it once was. "Yeah that was pretty amazi- WEIRD! Heh.. uhm, weird wasn't it?" Rainbow said with wide eyes while looking up to see Rarity's reaction to that amazingly horrible sentence her mouth and brain just spewed out. Rarity couldn't help but give the biggest grin she'd ever pulled off. All the while pointed directly at Rainbow's wide open eyes. Rarity held her grin for a solid minute before walking past Rainbow giggling to herself. It wasn't that big of a deal, at least to her. "I just want Rainbow to tell me.. She would feel a lot better if she got all that stress off her chest." Rarity told herself while walking out the doorway towards the living room. She has helped Twilight through this whole ordeal, why not help the other lovebird? Hopping out of her shower, Twilight shivered as the cold air hit her body. "This is always the worst part of a shower.." She said with a chuckle while wrapping the towel round her wet mane. Walking over to her bathroom mirror she sighed lightly as she looked back into her own eyes, seeing the large black pools and the purple colour behind them. She wanted to say she was beautiful, but she didn't really care about her own opinion. She was only concerned about Rainbow's opinion. Rainbows beauty was uncanny to her own, but she was going to give it her all tonight to make herself look stunning. If Rarity had taught her anything, it was that you might as well just go for it because it wont get any easier till you do. So tonight, Twilight Sparkle was going to do something she never thought she'd have the courage to do. Ask Rainbow on a date. Twilight smiled brightly to herself in the mirror as she felt the new found courage flowing from her heart and into her bloodstream. Exiting her bathroom and quickly trotting over to her room, her mind and body went into overdrive as she got to beautifying herself. Rainbow, with her eyes still wide open, realised her eyes were still wide open and quickly squinted rapidly to get the dryness out. "Rarity knows.." She thought to herself. She had only discovered her true feelings for Twilight not to long ago, so how long has Rarity known for? Sighing to herself she decided to deal with Rarity later, for now she had a rather difficult task. Get the film projector from the basement up to the living room. She couldn't carry it on her own it would be too heavy for her back, it would also block her from taking flight. "Ugh.. I'm gunna need Rarity's magic aren't I?" With another deep sigh, Dash headed past her friends towards the living room to were Rarity entered not too long ago. Entering the living room Rainbow laid eyes on Rarity sitting on the couch quietly reading none other than the cheesiest romance novel out there. "Typical Rarity." She said with a chuckle. Walking over so she was standing right in front of her friend Rainbow attempted to talk, but no words came out. Why was this so hard? "Can I help you Rainbow Dash?" Rarity said while looking over her book at Rainbow's clearly nervous face. "Uhm, hey Rarity. I was wondering if you could maybe uh.. help me with something? Its in the basement.." Asked a jittery Dash. Rarity smiled and nodded at Rainbow before she quietly put her book down with her reading glasses. She followed her friend towards the basement door all the while getting ready to receive the confession she knew Rainbow was going to give her. With the light hanging from the basement ceiling now on, the two ponies headed down the basement stairs towards to what seemed like to Rarity a film projector. "interesting." She thought to herself with a questioning look. "So? What did you need help with Rainbow." "I uh.. need help with two things actually.." Rainbow said turning around to face Rarity. "Remember when you said If there is anything I had to say you would be here to listen? Well, I know you're good with the whole romantic side of things.. and I kind of need your magic so.. Here goes nothing I guess.. IhaveacrushonTwilightSparkle!" She blurted out while looking down with her eyes shut for some form of protection. "I'm sorry what? A little slower please dear." Rarity said with a genuine smile. Rarity did conceder herself quite the prankster, but she definitely wasn't going to make this any harder for the mare than it needed to be. "I.. I have a.." "Please Rainbow, I cant help you if you don't tal-" "I have a crush on twilight Sparkle! Okay?!" Rainbow looked up and yelled rather loudly. Dash quickly shrunk herself down and prayed to Celestia that her friends, or worse Twilight, didn't hear her yell that. Rarity smiled and walked over towards her cyan friend and got down to her level, pulling her into a hug. "Its okay Rainbow dash, trust me. Its okay to be feeling what your feeling, its normal for everypony." "But.. She's a mare and I'm a-" "mare?" Rarity backed away from the hug and held rainbows shoulders with her fore hooves, looking right into her magenta eyes. "Dash you listen to me. There is absolutely nothing wrong with liking another mare, specially one as beautiful as our dearest friend Twilight." Rarity said with a smile while making Rainbow blush a dark red. She removed one of her hooves from Dash's shoulder and lifted up Rainbow's chin. "If you truly like or love some pony, no matter the gender, you don't steer away! You put them under your wing.." Rarity said while motioning to Rainbows cyan wings. Rainbow was flabbergasted at her friends words, all she could do was stare at Rarity in silence. Never in her life had she heard more real words than what had just come out of her friends mouth. Rarity was completely right. Why should she be afraid of what other ponies think? She likes Twilight Sparkle and that's not changing anytime soon. "Thanks Rarity.." Rainbow said as she pulled her into another soft hug. She's not really into the mushy stuff, but this and Twilight are definitely exceptions. "Anytime darling, I'll always be here. Now!" Rarity said in a happy tone while backing off of the hug. "How about we get this projector up and into the living room?" Rarity suggested while walking over and inspecting the half covered up film projector. "Sounds like a plan to me Rarity." Rainbow said while sporting her first genuine smile In what seemed like forever. > The reveal > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Looking at herself in her bedroom mirror Twilight put the finishing touches on her outfit. She had spent close to half an hour getting ready for what lay ahead and it was safe to say she was rather nervous again, but she was going to do this no matter how scared she was. All this running from her feelings and having those awkward conversations with Rainbow Dash was really pulling at her heart strings. "Why does love have to be such a painful thing?" Twilight asked herself in the mirror while grabbing the purple flower and resting it in her mane just above her right ear. Taking one last glance at herself in the mirror, Twilight gave a confident smile and headed out her bedroom door to do the inevitable. Giving a final grunt , Rarity set the rather heavy film projector in her magic down slowly in the corner of the living room beside a bookshelf. Hoping the covers hiding it would be enough to hide Rainbow's secret for at least a little while longer. She still didn't know what film they would be watching. Part of her thought it was a romance film, for her and Twilight of course, but the rest of her friends were still here so romance was out of the question. She will just have to find out with the rest of the girls later. "C'mon Rarity have you hidden it yet?" Rainbow whispered over while keeping a close eye on the closed kitchen door. "I.. believe so.." Rarity said between breaths while turning to face Rainbow. She hadn't lifted something that heavy since her sewing machine broke a while back. Taking her eyes off the door Rainbow looked over to a panting Rarity and a covered up projector beside a bookshelf in the corner of the room. Hidden was not the word she'd use, but it was the best they could do. Twilights closet was full so Rarity had to compromise. "It'll do Rarity. Thanks for the help I really appreciate it." Rainbow said while moving a couple objects too and fro in an attempt to make it look at least a bit more natural. "No Problem dear." Rarity said with a smile before plopping herself down on Twilights couch and closing her eyes, giving a relaxed sigh. "The things I do for love." She thought to herself with a small grin. Closing her door quietly Twilight made her way over to her stairs and peeked over the railing, finding nothing but Rarity laying down on the couch. "No Rainbow. Perfect." twilight grinned to herself. She wanted to make sure she was in the open when Rainbow laid eyes on her looking like this. Making her way carefully down the stairs she walked over to the couch Rarity was laying on. "Um, Rarity? Are you okay?" Twilight asked with a little concern in her voice. Hearing a familiar voice, Rarity turned her head and regretfully opened her eyes from her super tired, but relaxed state. When her vision finally straitened out, Rarity gasped and jumped. Loosing all the sleep she once felt as she laid eyes on the stunning figure that was none other than Twilight Sparkle. "Oh.. Twilight.. You look absolutely divine!" rarity blurted out. She couldn't contain her excitement whenever it came to her friends and fashion. Specially in this situation. Twilight was wearing a dress that Rarity had made for her a long time ago, it was a light violet in colour and it hung over her hind legs leaving a small train of fabric, she had star shaped earrings like her cutie mark, a small lavender flower in her hair to compliment her mane colour, and her mane was done up in a ponytail with her bangs hanging freely over her forehead and close to her eyes. "Shhhhh! Not so loud Rarity! I don't want Rainbow to know I look like this yet.." Twilight said with a blush while turning to the kitchen door to make sure no pony heard her enthusiastic friend. "You mean Rainbow hasn't seen you yet? Oh she will absolutely love you when she see's you Twilight!" Rarity said a little to loud again for Twilights liking. Seeing the stare Twilight was giving her Rarity quickly apologised. "Twilight you must let Rainbow see you right now.." Rarity said in a rather demanding tone. "Okay dear, here's what we will do.." Walking into the kitchen Rarity smiled devilishly as she saw all her friends, but more importantly Rainbow Dash sitting in the corner talking to fluttershy. Clearing her voice if so to get everypony's attention. "Okay girls.. If you will all be so kind as to follow me, I have something to show you all." Rarity said while winking at Rainbow Dash's direction. Making Rainbow even more confused as to what was going on. Walking out into the living room with all her friends and making sure Rainbow was in front of her friends to get full view, Rarity yelled up for the go ahead to come down. When Twilight heard Rarity say it was ok to come down her heart stopped. On one hoof she was very nervous about doing this, but on the other hoof she couldn't wait to see Rainbow's face when she walked down those stairs. She remembered the words she once used before in a situation quite like this one. "Nothing ventured, nothing gained." She said as she made her way towards the stairs. Rainbow had an idea as to what this was. First they all get asked to come into the living room for reasons unknown, then she gets winked at by Rarity when she said she had something to show us all, now she gets put rather close to the bottom of the stairs for again reasons unknown. But before Rainbow had enough time to tell Rarity what she thought this was, she saw a figure slowly make its way to the top of the stairs. "T..Twilight..." She whispered just loud enough for Rarity to hear, making Rarity grin wildly. Coming into the light of the living room Twilight made her first steps down her curved stairs, Rainbow quickly laying her eyes upon the most beautiful thing she's ever seen in her life. Twilight Sparkle. Rainbow felt her legs start to give out so she decided to just sit down and stare with her mouth agape. What else could she possibly do in this situation? Looking at all her friends smiling and cheering made Twilight happier than ever, but when she looked at Rainbow and her current expression. Her heart felt like it was going to explode. Seeing her cyan friend so stunned, because of herself no less, was the cutest thing she's ever seen from Rainbow during there friendship. Walking down further until she was stood directly in front of Rainbow, Twilight gave the most adorable smile she could conjure up. Rainbow thought she was going to have a heart attack. Twilight is absolutely beautiful to her without all these accessories, but this.. "If only she had those cute, nerdy glasses she wears when she studi- Stop that!" Rainbow yelled to her brain, quickly shoving that thought out of her head. Now was definitely not the time for fantasies. Moving down so she was in front of Rainbow, Twilight stared into her heart stealing magenta eyes and wondered just what the beautiful pony in front of her was thinking. It was safe to say Rarity was having a very good time. Seeing Rainbow in such a state of confusion on what to do with the situation was a sight she thought she would never see. Deciding to give them some alone time Rarity quickly gathered the rest of her friends and headed back into the kitchen, preparing her mind to answer a bombardment of questions her friends most definitely have. She would have to ask Twilight how it went after. "H-hey Rainbow Dash.." Twilight finally said, breaking the science that was between them for a rather long time. Seeing that her other friends had left them alone. "Thanks rarity I owe you one.." She also noticed Rainbow was trying to hide her beet red face. "She's blushing?" Twilight thought rather confused. For rainbow usually never got flustered. Rainbow attempted to reply to Twilights words but nothing came out, This seemed to happen to her a lot in situations like this, making Twilight giggle and blush in front of her. Hearing Twilights cute little laughs made things a little easier. "Um.. H-hey Twi. You look.. Awesome." Twilight giggled more at the choice of Rainbow's words, making Rainbow smile in front of her. "Twi? When did you start calling me Twi?" Twilight said smiling. She liked it a lot, especially when it came from Rainbow's mouth. "I uh.. Just thought of it now. If you don't like it I-" "NO! I-I mean no, I actually kind of like it.." Twilight said while looking away with a blush. Rainbow noticed the tinge of red on Twilights face. "Probably because of the nickname I gave her." Rainbow thought. Thought in the back of her mind Rainbow was hoping that the blush Twilight was sporting was because she liked her back. It was a far chance, but it at least made her feel a little better. "Good I.. I like it too. So.. Do you like the party so far?" Rainbow asked in an attempt to clear the awkwardness from the air. "Well.. I've been upstairs for most of it, but I guess so." Twilight said flashing a smile at her seemingly nervous friend. "Oh yeah.. Right. Um I have to uh.. Go to the washroom ill be right back sorry." Rainbow said rather fast as she made her way past Twi and up the stairs towards the bathroom. Trying to hide her embarrassing red face along the way. Hearing the bathroom door shut, Twilight was left sitting alone and very confused. What happened? "Did I do something wrong?" she asked herself, scared she might have messed something up. Shutting the door to twilight's washroom Rainbow walked over to the mirror and stared into it. Why was this so hard? "Do you like the party so far?! Come on Rainbow Dash your way better than that!" She said to her reflection in the mirror. "So not cool.." With nothing but silence, her mind slowly wondered back to the talk her and Rarity had in the basement, more specifically the end of that conversation. "You don't steer away! You put them under your wing.." She whispered to herself while looking into her own eyes. For some reason that saying has stuck with her ever since. Then it hit her. It hit her like a runaway cart going down the biggest hill in ponyville. Rainbow knew exactly what she was going to do. > In the end > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Opening her friends bathroom door Rainbow headed back down the stairs towards her friends, but more importantly confront Twilight again. "Hopefully it goes better than last time.." she whispered to herself while instantly finding herself in front of the closed kitchen door. She felt as if she should be nervous confronting Twilight again after her failed attempt last time, but with the newfound confidence in her heart, Rainbow walked through the door, getting ready to put her almighty plan into action. barging into the kitchen Rainbow gave a smile at all her now completely silent friends, all just staring at her like she was a ghost about to murder them all. "too much confidence." Rainbow mused to herself with a chuckle. Taking a quick glance at Twilight, who was sitting next to Rarity, Rainbow saw the face she had come to absolutely love. With her heart starting to beat faster she made her way across the loud kitchen floor towards her friends while keeping eye contact with Twilight the whole way. She was, in Twilights words, experimenting the chosen subject. She gave a small smirk at that. Seeing Rainbow slowly start to walk over to her Twilight looked away and started to panic. After there last confrontation she didn't know how Rainbow would react. She knew she would have to talk to Rainbow again eventually. Not just because they were best friends, but because her heart pretty much demanded it. Slowly looking back up at the now closer Rainbow Dash, Twilights eyes went right into Rainbow's. That's when she realized, Rainbow had been staring directly at her this whole time. It was as if she was coming over to yell at her. With a nervous whine Twilight quickly turned away and looked over at Rarity with a look of pure desperation. Rarity wasn't sure why Twilight was giving the look she was giving. When she left the two out in the living room they were both fine, staring into each others eyes like moth to flame. With a small smile directed over at her nervous friend, Rarity gave a small nod. She figured something like this would happen with Twilight. Pulling over a chair with her magic Rarity gave a big smile directed at the approaching love bird "Rainbow dear, Please, take a seat." Rarity said while taking a glance at Twilight who was staring at Rainbow, clearly lost in her thoughts. "Thanks." Rainbow said while taking a seat on the chair that was conveniently placed next to Twilight. With a now awkward silence filling the corner of the room, Rainbow quickly looked at Rarity with a small smile while motioning her head at Twilight. She wanted to talk to twilight alone. She needed to apologise, even though she knows she's not very good at that sort of thing, to her for her weird breakdown earlier. Seeing the look and gestures Rainbow was giving her Rarity quickly spoke up, breaking the silence between the group. She knew that look all to well. Privacy. "If you girls would be so kind as to excuse me, I have to go to the little ladies room." Rarity said while standing up from her seat and winking at Rainbow. Who in turn nodded in thanks. Looking up at her fashion friend, Twilight gave a look of her own. It was a look of.. betrayal. Looking back at Twilight, Rarity gave a small smile. "I'm sorry Twilight.. Ill make it up to you." She thought to herself before leaving the kitchen, leaving the two mares alone with one another. "H-hey Rai--" Twilight nervously started, but was quickly cut off by her prismatic friend. "I.. I'm uh, sorry Twi. I didn't mean to, y'know.. run off earlier. Its just.. I was just.." Rainbow stuttered. Where did the confidence go she had coming into this? Why did she have to be so damn scared around this beautiful, perfect mare that she felt so warm and fuzzy around. She groaned to herself in annoyance as she realized she just answered her own question. Seeing that this was Rainbows attempt at an apology, Twilight quickly eased up. "Stupid brain.. Stupid nerves.." Twilight thought, mentally kicking herself. Why would she ever think Rainbow was coming over to yell at her? "Dash I.. Its alright. You have to go you have to go I guess." Twilight said in an attempt to ease the air. Hearing the laughter coming from Rainbows mouth must have been contagious, because the next thing Twilight knew she was almost crying from laughter as well. "Geez Twi! Way to be blunt about it!" Rainbow said, the laughter slowly dying down. "At least she doesn't suspect anything." Giving a sigh of relief Rainbow looked over into her friends eyes for what must have been the 20th time that night. After looking at each other for what seemed like an eternity, Rainbow regretfully broke the stare and decided it was now time to reveal one of her two secrets of the night. Standing up and turning around Rainbow walked into the middle of the kitchen. "Ok girls, who's ready to see the secret that I brought?" She asked her four friends in the room. "ME! I'M READY!" Pinkie yelled, jumping up from her sitting position and darting into the main room of the library. Following there pink friend into the main room, all of Rainbow's friends now stood and waited. Grabbing the blanket that was currently covering the projector in the corner, Rainbow ripped it off with her teeth. She knew that wasn't going to get a reaction. "Isn't that my projector Rainbow?" Twilight asked stepping forward and lifting the projector with her magic out and into the middle of the room with ease, making Rainbow's jaw drop for a quick second. She always had to make things look easy. "Yes it is Twi, but that's not the secret!" Rainbow said as she flew up to the highest shelf in the library. Opening her saddlebag she grabbed the film reel and brought it down to finally reveal it to her friends, but mostly Twilight. She couldn't wait to see her reaction. Flipping the film over she took off the cover and showed the title to everypony. Hearing an audible gasp come from there mouths was a sound worth the wait. Taking a glance over at Twilight she saw a look. A look she couldn't quite pin down. Leaving her other friends to talk amongst themselves, Rainbow walked over to Twilight. "Hey uh.. Are you alright Twi?" Rainbow asked, receiving no response from the purple mare. "Hey uh, listen.. We don't have to watch the film if you don't want to. I know you're probably tired from the train ride back." Rainbow said with a smile. Looking up at her friend Twilight saw Rainbow's face. She saw Rainbow was trying to hide it, but Twilight could see right through that fake smile. It was one of hurt. Her heart nearly shattered at the sight. This film Rainbow had brought was supposedly the scariest film in all of Equestria. How could she watch this if she cant even watch that film with the ghosts and that cart with the weird siren? "No. Rainbow probably had to go through so much trouble to get this film and I'm not going to deny her the chance to watch it because I'm being a stupid scaredy pony." Twilight stated to herself. She had to get over this childish fear at some point in her life, why not let it be with somepony that makes her feel safe and secure. She also could not stand seeing Rainbow with that expression any longer. In one swift motion Twilight reached out and hugged her cyan friend. "No Rainbow, we're going to watch it." Twilight stated with confidence. Being hugged by this pony for the second time in one night was something of dreams for Rainbow. without thinking Rainbow leaned into the hug, moving one of her hooves down Twilights beautiful mane causing a shiver to emenate from her body. Being this close to one another again caused many feelings for them both. Neither wanted to ever leave this position, but neither would tell one another they didn't want to. Regretfully Twilight pulled away from the warmth of the hug with all her will power, feeling empty as she couldn't smell rainbow's scent anymore. "I'm glad Twi.. So what d'ya say? shall we get some pillows and get to watchin?" Rainbow asked with a glimmer in her magenta eyes. "Yes rainbow, we shall." Twilight said with a sincere smile. "Awesome! I'm going to head upstairs and grab some blankets and pillows for us all." Rainbow said as she flew up to the second floor. Sighing as she watched Rainbow fly away, Twilight grabbed the film out of the case and popped it into the projector. Pulling down the screen and turning off the lights she shivered as she realized what she got herself into. Making her way towards Twilights room, Rainbow quickly grabbed all the blankets and pillows she could find and quickly headed back down the stairs. She hoped and prayed to Celestia that everything was going to go as planned. It had to. Seeing the lights off and the flash from the film projector starting up, Rainbow smiled as she headed over to her friends. She found her friends scattered all around the room. Pinkie was currently sitting right in front of the screen. Applejack was sitting with Rarity and a rather jittery Fluttershy, sharing the last of the snacks. Twilight however, was the farthest away from the screen. With a questioning glare Rainbow quickly gave the group of friends and the rather eager Pinkiepie a pillow and blanket. finally Rainbow came upon her purple friend sitting alone in the dark. She had to say, Twilight sitting back here definitely made things easier and a lot less embarrassing for her plan, but she was curious as to why Twilight was so far back in the first place. Though she decided not to question it, for now. "Hey.. You uh, mind if I sit with you?" Rainbow asked timidly. "I have blankets and pillows for us." Rainbow said, gesturing towards the objects on her back. Twilight looked up and took in a breath as she saw who it was. Rainbow wanted to sit with her? Without waiting for an answer Rainbow tossed the pillows on the floor for them to sit on and laid the blanket out to put overtop of them. Seeing Rainbow sit down on the pillow and setting a pillow next to her rather close, Twilights heart sped up dramatically. "Rainbow wants to sit with me.." She thought to herself with a small smile while standing up and moving to sit on the unoccupied pillow. Watching Twilight intently, Rainbow saw that she was slowly walking over to sit where she put the pillow. "So far so good." Once Twilight got situated on the pillow Rainbow grabbed the blanket with her fore hooves and pulled it over the two of them. Rainbow instantly blushed as she felt Twilights side rub against her wing. They really were close together. Just turning her head to look at Twilight would result in either a kiss or a head bash. She was going to look over at Twilight when a loud noise started to play. The film was starting. Seeing the film start to play made Twilight shiver in fear. In the back of her mind she knew it was just a dumb film, but it didn't help in the heat of the moment. The only thing keeping her from running away was the pony next to her. She could feel her wing ruffle every now and again from the contact they were making with each other. Peeking an eye over at Rainbow, Twilight saw Rainbow was also taking ever so short glances back. Looking down more Twilight saw the crevice of Rainbow's neck. Oh how inviting it looked to her. How soft and warm it would be, how perfect of a moment this would turn out to be. Twilight remembered when she did that same thing on there last reading night together before she left for Canterlot. Without realizing it Twilight had now somehow found herself inched ever so closer to Rainbow's side. In fact, she was now fully pressed into her friend's side. With how close they were, Twilight decided to focus her attention back onto the film. What an idea that was. Without warning a scarred up pony wearing a scary mask jumped out at the camera and screamed, flailing an axe at the main characters. Jumping right out of her now cold as ice skin Twilight screamed along with the film while grabbing onto the closest thing for protection. Rainbow could tell when a jump scare was going to happen. It was obvious in these types of movies, but they were still enjoyable to her anyways. All she had to do was wait for the perfect jump scare in order to put her plan into action. But as one of the first jump scares of the movie happened, Rainbow felt something rather soft cling to her for dear life. Rainbow blushed like mad when she felt a head forcing its way into the crook of her neck. As a pair of purple fore legs wrapped around her barrel, locking securely in place. Rainbow didn't know what to do at this point. Her plan was now out the window. "Don't steer away..." With all the courage she could muster Rainbow slowly lifted her wing up and over Twilights back wrapping it securely around her barrel, mimicking what Twilight was doing to her. Twilight was lost. She had been scared out of her hooves and what does she do? Cling on to Rainbow dash for dear life. Puts her head into Rainbows neck and wraps her fore legs around her like she was a foal wanting her mom. This was not how she wanted this to go at all! This was all wrong! Rainbow probably hates her now! She never should ha-- Shivering, Twilight's abrasive thoughts were cut short as she felt something slide over her back and wrap snugly around her. Rainbow's wing was now around her, pulling her into a wing blanket. This all felt so familiar. Pulling her head up and out of Rainbows neck Twilight looked up and into the magenta pools already staring down at her. This was it. There was no going back now. Nervousness. That's all rainbow was feeling at this moment in time. Having her wing now perfectly wrapped around Twilight meant only one thing. It could only mean one thing. New plan. Looking down at the pony she was now snuggling up against Rainbow saw Twilights head start to shift. Seeing her purple head move out of the crook of her neck, seeing her beautiful eyes look up into her own. This gave her all the confidence she needed. Moving her head down so she was practically breathing on Twilights face, she wrapped her fore hooves around Twilights neck and pulled her in for the most passionate kiss she has ever given. The only kiss she has ever given in fact. Twilight was gone. She never should ha-- Love. All Twilight could feel in her life at this moment was love and well.. she loved it. All she could do in her life at this moment was return what she was receiving. To give back what she was feeling. To give love back. Pulling away from the kiss, the out of breath Rainbow Dash looked down at the also out of breath Twilight Sparkle. Or should she say marefriend? She wasn't sure what was to come, but Rainbow did know that one thing was for sure. That whatever happens.. To always keep her under your wing.
