> Rainbow Dash and Twilight Play LSD: Dream Emulator > by Stormin Away > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > Chapter 1: Entering the World of Wierd > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Twilight Sparkle was waiting in her treehouse library waiting for her friend Rainbow Dash to arrive to help her with something. As she waited for Rainbow, Spike was dusting up the bookshelves of the main library. After a few minutes, there was the sound of someone knocking at the door. Twilight trotted over and swung open the door to the library, revealing a cyan pegasus waiting for Twilight, "Oh hey Rainbow, come on in" Twilight said to Rainbow Dash, "You said you needed help with something?" Rainbow inquired, "Yes, I actually only need help finding something, and I'll do the work myself" Twilight responded, "Well, I'll get you what you need in 10 seconds flat, but what is it?" Rainbow asked, "You see, a shelf on one of my bookcases is a little wobbly..." Twilight headed over to a shelf completely void of books and wiggled it to show how loose it was, "And I just need my toolbox from the attic, I'll tighten it myself" Twilight requested. Rainbow das saluted to her friend and said, "I'm on it!" and quickly raced uup the flight of stairs to Twilight's bedroom and noticed a small hatch in what seemed like the top of the treehouse. Rainbow zipped right through it and was greet with an unlit room with random items scattered across the floor, "This is gonna be a while..." Rainbow said to herself as she began to search the room, containing old items belonging to Twilight and the original owner of the carved out treehouse. As Rainbow tip toed across the cluttered floor, careful not to trip on a miscilaneous object. As she tip toed for seemingly forever, she finally reached a dusty old, faded red toolbox, "You know if twilight seemingly never uses this, why would she even keep it?" Rainbow asked to herself. Remembering her friend's request, she grabbed the toolbox in her mouth and began heading towards the hatch, which seemed to be the only area in the attic that wasn't piled up with stuff. As Rainbow Dash was walking, something caught her eye: a small light grey box with what looked like a detachable circular lid was spotted among the cluster of items. This bizzare item had two buttons in the lower left and right corners, and 4 strangely shaped holes on the front. On top of that, there was what looked like a mini television, with writing on it that looked like something of another language. Rainbow was intrigued by this object, so she made a mental note of it as she progressed towardthe hatch, she carried the toolbox in her mouth. Finally, she made it to the trapdoor and swung it open, then proceeding to do an expert type glide out of the attic and landing right on the staircase leading back to the library, "Oh hey, you found it" Twilight stated as Rainbow trotted up to the lavender unicorn, "I've got what I need, and I'll just fix the bookcase myself" Twilight added on, Rainbow immediately remembering the faded box, "Oh. I uh, forgot something in the attic, I'll be right back" Rainbow Dash said with worry then zipped back up the stairs and into the attic. There, Rainbow made her way back to where she found the light grey box and the television. Rainbow very carefully moved the television out of the attic and set it on the floor just beneath the hatch. Then, she moved the grey box out from under a stack of items and began to repeat the process, but then something else caught her attention. Behind the spot where the old box was, laid a funky shaped item with what looked like two spikes coming out the bottom on the sides. Rainbow held the strange object in her hooves, and noticed it had 4 buttons, placed in little carved circles. On the right one had 4 buttons aranged in a diamond that had an X, a Square, O, and a Triangle. On the left was 4 directional arrows. Right below it, lied two joysticks, which Rainbow had to stretch her hooves little to reach. Rainbow was also intrigued by this, so she took it with the box. What also laid in the small pile was a square case. Rainbow couldn't make out what it was in the dark, so she put with the pile, and took the 3 accesories down under the attic hatch. Once she was in the decent lighting of Twilight's bedroom, she had noticed some writing on the top of the wierd object she had been figdeting with, that read "PonyStation I" Rainbow stared at the grey box, and noticed it also had "PonyStation I" written on it. COnfused about this item, she brung it downstairs to see Twilight tightening some bolts for the bookcase shelf, "Hey Twilight?" Rainbow asked to the working unicorn, "Not now Dash, I'm almost done... tightening... this... bolt..." Twilight said while grunting as she attempted to shove a wrench down to tighten the bolt to the bookcase as much as possible, "I was just wondering if you could tell me what this wierd thing is" Rainbow requested as she placed the Ponystation I with it's controller on top of it on the ground before her. Twilight had just been relieved by finally tightening the bolt, and quickly turned around to see the object Rainbow was talking about, "Oh that, I found it in an old pawn shop, they said it was from Neighpan and it plays video games, so apparently they're into that kind of stuff. I used a few times, but never really got into it" Twilight explained, "Why, do you wanna play it?" Twilight asked, "Why heck yah!" Rainbow exclaimed, "Well, if I remember correctly, I think you need a TV to use it" Twilight stated. Rainbow immediately pulled the small TV she had found in the attic from behind the wall, "Well then, should we start setting this up or what?" Rainbow Dash requested. Twilight and Rainbow began to set up the Ponystation system on a little wooden table with a chair for Rainbow Dash to sit in, "Alright, you ready to play some PS?" Twilight asked, "YEAH!" Rainbow Dash interjected, "Well what's your game?" Twilight asked, "It's right... here?" Rainbow Dash said as she picked up the case that apparently held the game she had next to her. Examining it for the first time, she noticed something wierd, the only thing on it was a blue background with strange yellow alien faces on it. In the center lie a yellow oval, and iside it said, "L..S..D.." Rainbow read aloud, "What's wrong?" Twilight questioned, "This game... it looks so wierd, and cool!" Rainbow said as she grew anticipated. Without further ado, she popped the disc that was in the case into the Ponystation, and pushed the button marked with "Power". ---- The ponystation started up with a white screen and an orange diamond in the middle. After a techno keyboard tune, the words "SONY ELECTRONICS" Popped up on the screen. A few seconds later, a very wierd video cinematic began, with the text "LINKING THE SAPIENT DREAM" with it's letters scattering around the screen showed up. Soon, it transitioned to what looked like a very oddly colored eye deforming into ways not even known to ponykind. Both Rainbow Dash and Twilight gawked at the TV screen as the cinematic neared its conclusion, as the cinematic just got wierder by the second. The cinematic ended with the same yellow oval with "L S D" inside of it as on the cover. The two ponies were still staring open mouthed at the screen when the title screen came up, "Try explaining that" Rainbow said to break the silence. Twilight snapped out of her aroma of confusion, "I don't even remember seeing that one bit in my life..." Twilight responded. Rainbow also snapped out of confusion, put on her game face and pressed "START" right below some text that said "DAY 001". Some music started up, and Rainbow was in a level that looked like a house with yellow walls, "Alright, now where do I go now?" Rainbow inquired out loud as she turned the joystick around, revealling two ways she could go, one toward a staircase and the other down a hallway. Rainbow turned her camera to face down the hallway and started walking down the hallway, "Ugh, this guy walks so slow, how do I run?" Rainbow Dash said aloud as she pressed every one of the buttons with shapes on them. Finally pressing X, giving the character a jolt of speed. "Okay then" Rainbow said to herself as she held the X button as she sprinted around two corners at the end of the hallway and ended up touching a wall, making the screen go white, and the music changed. The white screen eventually faded and Rainbow Dash's charcter was now in a japanese village, "So running into walls makes you teleport... how logical" Rainbow Dash stated aloud, Twilight having her nose buried in the manual, which Rainbow saw out of the corner of her eye, was written in Neighpanese, "Now what's the point of this game? Is this some sort of maze? Are you trying to find something or what?" Rainbow questioned as she began running around the complex of Japenese styled houses, "All it says is, 'Enjoy the pleasure of dreaming and ponder about the objects and beings of the world you enter in your sleep'" Twilight responded, "Soooo, that means you just look at stuff?" Dash said as she turned a corner, then began hearing a sound of something clicking, "What was that?" Rainbow asked, almost in fright. She quickly turned behind her to see a tall, very blocky female type figure walking toward the character, making the clicking noise as she walked toward Rainbow, "Oookay?" Rainbow Dash stated as she witnessed the lady walking. Rainbow Dash was seemingly taken by suprise as she began to head towards the walking lady by another figure coming down to the crosswalk to the right. As Rainbow was sprinting, she accidentally ran into the side of the figure, causing her to warp to another dream, "Ok, so blocky humans can also... WOAH" Rainbow Dash was trying to say, but was struck with awe as the music changed to something really wierd, and the level changed to a composition of multicolored tiles with cartoon faces on them on the floor with a bright blue sky, "What's wrong Dash?" Twilight requested, but then lifted her head up to see the world Rainbow had entered, and her jaw immediately fell, "It doesn't say anything about it in the book..." Twilight said as she began flipping back and forth in the manual looking for some explanation to this. Rainbow Dash ran across the long flat surface with multicolored tiles, each tile making a different sound. The green tiles made a bloop bloop sound, while purple brick tiles made the sound of someone walking in tap dancing shoes. Rainbow didn't care about this, she just wanted to complete whatever goals this game needed her to complete. As she continued sprinting along the seemingly endless plain, she eventually came to an arena looking building with wierd colors on its walls, "Wait go inside that building" Twilight requested. Rainbow expertly made a large sweeping curve as she sprinted into the building, but accidentally clipped the wall, making the screen turn not white, but bright blue, "Hold on a second, I think Spike's calling me" Twilight stated, and soon left the room, leaving Rainbow Dash alone. The blue screen faded, and Rainbow Dash was facing a wall. She carelessly turned around, to be greeted by a teddy bear, sitting straight up, seemingly staring at a TV screen with a creepy image of what looked like someone being hung by a laundry hook, as eerie music drowned out the regular music, "UHHHHHH, OK, I DID NOT JUST SEE THAT" Rainbow said to herself after seeing the disturbing image, then turning towards the end of the hallway and running toward a portrait of the sky out of fright, then turning left at the end of a hallway, to reveal an empty bed with a blanket draped over it, as if it was inviting her into bed. Rainbow went up to this strange bed and wallked into it, making the screen flash red this time, and making Dash land in what looked like a seaport at night. The music was seemingly gone here. Rainbow proceeded to transverse this level, though she was hearing the sound of what sounded like something crashing, or something really huge is hunting you down. This constant sound looped forever, and seemingly got louder as Rainbow found herself in a system of alleyways. She couldn't stop running, Rainbow swore she searched everywhere for an exit, but nothing was visible. She looked back dozens of times, and nothing was there. Once Rainbow had ran for what seemed like hours, Rainbow found herself at an alleyway dead end. She just stood facing the wall, but not touching it, as she assumed touching walls killed you. Rainbow refused to turn around, fearing some monster would be right behind the character, ready to eat him/her alive. Twilight finally returned from her random disapearance, noticing Rainbow's state of fear she asked, "Are you okay Dash?" Twilight asked, "Tell me if there's something behind me" Rainbow asked while turning her face away from the screen and covering her eyes with one of her hooves. She started sweating like crazy as she moved the view joystick in tiny spurts. As Twilight watched the frightened pegasus move the camera slowly, she had noticed nothing was behind Rainbow Dash's character, "There's nothing behind you, Dash" Twilight responded. Rainbow Dash quickly uncovered her eyes and stared at the screen, to be relieved that Twilight was right. However, the noise still played, "Ok, I just want out of here, NOW" Rainbow Dash nervously said as she continued to sprint across the level for the 100th time. Suddenly, the screen faded black, and what looked like a yellow grid with "UPPER" and "DOWNER" at the top and bottom and "STATIC" and "DYNAMIC" at the left and right. A small red box blinked 4 units toward the upper side, and 3 toward the static side, "Okay... this game is so wierd..." Rainbow Dash stated, "You're not kidding" Twilight responded. As the title screen appeared back on the TV, Rainbow Dash seemingly froze, "You want me to play a level?" Twilight asked, "NO" Rainbow fiercly replied, "I CAN HANDLE THIS" Rainbow added on, seemingly going crazy as she mashed the button to begin the next dream. Now, Rainbow Dash was in the same yellow house she started in. Rainbow Dash this time went down the stairs instead of down the hallway. After a few flights of stairs, Rainbow was at ground level. She looked to her left and was startled by what looked like a head with two faces on either side, only it had functioning arms and legs, "Uhh, I think I have to use the mare's room" Dash said as she bolted out of the room instantly after saying that. Out of curiosity, Twilight decided to resume from where Rainbow Dash left off. Twilight Sparkle didn't nearly play it the same was as Rainbow Dash. Instead of constantly sprinting through the levels, not taking any consideration for items around her, Twilight just kind of strolled through the levels, and admired sights whenever possible. She made her character walk slowly out of the bar-like area and noticed that the yellow house was actually a 5 story apartment, though it looked like nothing but a cube with textures on it, "I'd feel bad for anyone who lived here" Twilight said to herself as she proceeded to the "front yard". There, she witnessed another two faced creature spit out a clone of itself as the clone ran into a tunnel that simply led to a black void. Twilight curiously followed the speeding clone into the dark tunnel as she made a mental note of the sighting. After a black screen with the walking sound effect, Twilight's character appeared in the same Japenese town Rainbow Dash had been transported to, but in a completely part of it. Twilight still went her slow walking pace as she walked over a bridge over flashing epilleptic water. She turned left after the bridge, seeing there was another bridge a little bit down the river. Twilight continuously strolled through the level, taking mental notes of strange sculptures such as giant stone feet, hands, and a giant human head, "Hmmm, how could a pony have dreams like this?" Twilight asked herself. As she pondered over this question, Twilight accidentaly bumped into a wall, transporting her to a different area, or to be more exact, the strangely colored one Rainbow had almost made it into the palace. Twilight walked along an oddly colored railroad track that was purple with yellow rails, "Am I in fantasy land or something?" Twilight asked herself as she made a mental note of it, eventually coming to what looked like two grandstands aligned parallel to each other, green toy soldiers on the decks of them, playing a tune through trombones of the same color, "How did Princess Celestia end up here?" Twilight inquired out loud, as she assumed the toy soldiers were greeting Princess Celestia to this strange universe. Twilight made another mental note and proceeded forward. As Twilight was walking, the screen suddenly faded red, and she was now in a huge, hilly field with trees everywhere and a matching red sky. Twilight was walking along this vast landscape, she eventually came to a deep rift in the world. There was a bridge going across it toward the end, and Twilight noticed a flashing waterfall pouring into the rift. While it did this, it made a very loud noise as Twilight crossed the bridge onto another section of the "world". Just as Twilight had noticed a map in the distance, Rainbow Dash had returned to the room, "Hey Twilight, how far'd you get?" Rainbow inquired, back to her normal self, "I just found this map on this wierd hills area" Twilight began to explain as she strolled, then looked at the map dead on, "Any idea what it MEEEEeeeeeEEEEANS?" Twilight tried to say as something had surged her brain. Rainbow gave her a strange face, then stared at the map, trying to absorb it, but she got the same brain surge that Twilight did, then stared into Twilight's now worrysome eyes, "What just HAAAAaaaaAAPENED?" Twilight questioned nervously as both of them had a brain surge at the same time, "I don't know, but something tells me you should get away from that map" Rainbow Dash nervously replied. Twilight just turned away from the map and headed across the bridge slowly, "Ugh, you move too slow, here, let me show you how it's done" Rainbow Dash tried to steal the contoller from Twilight Sparkle, "There's no rush in this game" Twilight responded while holding the controller back, "But it's soooooo painful to watch someone walk soooooo slowly" Rainbow said while trying to fight for the controller. The two ponies fought over the controller for a while, until they accidentally made the character fall into a rift, ending the dream, "Thanks alot" Twilight said sarcastically. The two stared at the dream chart, the blinking red box was now almost all the way at the downer side and 6 units toward the static side. The screen turned back to that of the title screen, then Rainbow Dash made a statement, "I... think I better go now, so bye" Rainbow Dash nervously said, as she began to walk backwards out of the room. Twilight also followed, "Yeah, I should be eating dinner now, so I guess I'll see you tommorow?" Twilight replied, "Okay then, see ya!" Rainbow Dash shouted as she began her flight towards her cloud mansion, "Bye!" Twilight responded as she trotted off to go have her dinner. > Chapter 2: The Bucked up Dreaming > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Rainbow Dash and Twilight Sparkle were sound asleep under Princess Luna's moon. They had dreamed about the things they saw and heard over the day, and memories seemed to pop back in their resting heads. However, something strange happened. Rainbow Dash's brain surged like it did when she was playing that wierd game called LSD at Twilight's. Her mind was blank, but she could still think. Rainbow tried to wake up, but instead fell back into sleep paralysis, and her mind projected a scene of that of a yellow walled house, just like the one in LSD. Rainbow felt like she was actually awake, trapped in this place, so she began to look around and trot through this building of sorts. It felt so amazingly real, that Rainbow began to grow panicked. Meanwhile, in the bedroom of the Ponyville library, occupied by Twilight Sparkle, Twilight was having the same exact dream as Rainbow Dash. She felt like she was actually inside the yellow starting house from LSD, only she was on the floor below Rainbow Dash in the house. The first thing she did in this place was exit through the way she did in the game, as she assumed it was simply interfering with dreams she had that would take place in Ponyville. Random objects from the day seemed to weave their way into Twilight's dreams, but this one was completely different. She went out of the bar at ground level to find she was in the same exact front yard from the game. Twilight in real life so desperately tried to wake up, but it seemed she was stuck in this dreamworld. Rainbow Dash quickly made her way down the stairwells, which looked exactly like the one from the game. She eventually reached the ground level bar, and saw Twilight Sparkle out in the distance, heading into the dark tunnel from the front yard. Rainbow attempted to call for her, but the only noise she made was a ringing echo that sounded just like her voice. Twilight Sparkle heard a ringing echo that sounded like one of her friends, so she quickly turned around to see a cyan pegasus charging towards her, looking faded, as if she was the spirit of Rainbow Dash. Twilight tried to reply, but all that came out of her mouth was a ringing echo like Rainbow Dash's, only in Twilight's voice instead. The duo was finally reunited, but stared at each other awkwardly, seeing as this was a dream, it would be quite unusual to see your best friend, in person, in your dreams. The duo soon began to head into the dark tunnel from the house's front yard. The two couldn't see anything for a bit, not even each other's pupils, but soon, they were in a vast, green plain, just like the one Twilight encountered in the game. The two looked into each other's eyes with worry and proceeded across the plain. Rainbow Dash stopped to make a point, and tried to say, "Hey Twilight, try getting us out of here with your magic" but all that came out was a ringing echo. Twilight could recognize Rainbow's mouth moving, and could figure out what she was trying to say. Twilight began to attempt a teleportation spell, but even at her hardest attempts, her horn refused to glow the transparent purple it did in the real world. Rainbow Dash shot her a look of worry, and the two proceeded, trying to stay as close as possible. As the duo tread carefully, Rainbow Dash accidentally bumped into a very undetailed tree, causing her to seemingly disappear with a flash of light. Twilight grew panicked as she saw the flash in her own vision. She whipped around with fright, to see that Rainbow Dash was gone just like that. Twilight looked all around the area for any hopes of finding Rainbow Dash, but she was gone for good. Twilight, soon just continued her strolling solo, but as she turned around, she accidentally bumped into another tree, and like that she was gone with a flash. Rainbow Dash was now in a place that looked like it had a bunch of spherical objects spinning around a big cone after the random teleportation. Rainbow couldn't seem to do anything but stare at this object, as she was paralyzed for some reason. After about a minute of watching the spheres rotate around the huge cone, she hypnotically walked into the object, and again, she was gone with a flash. The lavender unicorn was now in the strangely colored area she had also encountered in the game. As she walked through, crossing over the purple and yellow railroad tracks, and going toward what looked like a maze of slightly raised platforms. As she proceeded across the plain of wierd colors, a giant, tye-dye colored penguin seemed to spontaneously appear out of thin air, just like that. Out of shock, Twilight started trotting backwards, hoping to bump into something to teleport her away. Rainbow Dash was, well, Dashing across the plain when she was suprised by the tye-dye penguin that Twilight was startled by. As the giant bird seemed to waddle out of the maze. Rainbow Dash flew at full speed toward the bird, but just as she was about to nail it in the side, the penguin randomly turned toward Rainbow Dash, causing her to run dead into it's face, teleporting away. Twilight was relieved to see the bird had stopped chasing her, but was instantly filled with fear to see Rainbow Dash had been whisked away by the giant beast. Fearing that the penguin had hurt Dash in some way, Twilight began motoring across the dreamworld as fast as her legs could carry her, hoping to find a way into wherever Rainbow Dash may have gone. Rainbow Dash was now teleported to the dark seaport she had encountered previously in the day. Rainbow was now fully scared, as she was now completely alone in this desolate landscape, Twilight wasn't just off doing something and no one else was at her reach. She was completely alone. The same noise from the game played as Rainbow thouroughly heard it. She very cautiosly and slowly took her steps, as her hooves quivered with every one, "Oh Twilight, pleeeease teleport here..." Rainbow thought out of her sheer fright. Twilight Sparkle had spontaneously appeared in the same world as Dash, but luckily had her in sight. Twilight, noticing the fear in the pegasus's steps, rushed over to help her. Rainbow was shivering with every step as she noticed Twilight come closer to her. She immediately attempted to respond, but suddenly everything was being drowned out as she hypnotically laid on her side. The last thing Dash heard from Twilight was her echoing ring of a voice which turned to the shrill sound of her ears ringing, then dead silence. Rainbow's mind was blank, and her dreams was nothing but pitch black. A few seconds later, a small, red box started blinking in the upper left hand corner of her dream state. The rest of the night after that, pitch black. Twilight had the same thing happen to her right after Dash, but the red box was more close to the center of her vision, and in the upper right segment. Meanwhile, in real life, things weren't looking good for the two ponies. Rainbow Dash had seemingly climbed out of her bed in her sleep, and was walking into a wall, her face already well buried into the cloud material as her hind legs continued to move as if she was walking. As this was going on, the showing eye was tiny pupiled, and extremely bloodshot, as Rainbow uttered random, nonsensical sounds into the wall as she was sleepwalking. Twilight Sparkle on the other hand, was lying on the floor, in front of the soft chair she had pulled out for Rainbow Dash to play LSD in. She was lying on her side, and her front hoof glided back and forth across the floor, as if she was trying to move a joystick. Her eyes were also bloodshot, but only the bottom half of them showed, as if she tried to close them. Stuck in this limbo state, Twilight also uttered nonsense as her hoof continuously moved back and forth across the floor.
