Skittles

The afternoon sun shone ever so brightly over Ponyville, coating the town in pleasant warmth.

The residents of the town are not confided to the indoors today. The weather is too beautiful to pass up. One would either see young fillies out and about playing, and the adults are running their usual outdoor errands or taking the opportunity to have a meal in the outdoor setting.

Meanwhile at the Castle of Friendship, Princess Twilight Sparkle is taking the opportunity to enjoy the outdoors in her own way. She lay on a beach chair by the poolside, iced tea glass on a small table next to her. She is currently captivated in a riveting novel that Rarity had suggested to her. The twists and turns this novel entails is one to keep her on the edge of her seat.

As she’s about to turn the page, she heard a grunt coming from the pool’s entrance. The lifted her head from the book and turned to see Spike and Starlight Glimmer, both holding books of their own.

“Hey Twi,” Spike said, “mind if we join you?”

Twilight grinned and then spoke. “Sure thing! Take a seat.”

The two smile and walk to nearby chairs. They take a chair either side of Twilight and open their books. As they did that, a very loud yell can be heard from the heart of Ponyville.

“AAAAAHHHHHH!!”

The trio look up from their paperbacks and then to each other, them exchanging looks of confusion.

“Was that Rainbow Dash?” Starlight asked.

The three look over to the lege that oversaw the town. From that general direction, they heard another scream. The trio practically jump out of their seats and run over to the ledge to look over it. In the distance, they can faintly see two dots running around. One of the color spectrum, the other black.

“The heck is going on?” Twilight mumbled to herself. Seeing that there could be potential danger, she pivoted away from the ledge and ran full speed out of the castle, Starlight and Spike following behind her.

The three castle dwellers finally arrived to their destination. The first thing they noticed were two blurs running amuck throughout the town. One black, the other rainbow. Those must be the small specks they saw earlier.

“Rainbow?” Twilight called.

“Twilight!” the multicolored blur called back. “Help me out here! I can’t lose ‘em!”

“I want my skittles!” the blur behind Rainbow Dash demanded. “Come here!”

“Get off my flank, why don’t you?!”

“What are we going to do?” Starlight asked, panicky.

Twilight isn’t sure herself. She just got here and is still trying to process the situation. It’s all to bizarre to take in immediately.

“BEAST MODE!!” the dark blur shouted. The thing suddenly just got an adrenaline boost and started to sprint at a faster speed, closing in on Rainbow Dash. The thing leapt high in the air, pouncing like a lion as it attacks its prey. The thing landed on top of Rainbow Dash and the two tumble on the ground for a moment.

When the two lose their momentum, Dash ended up on her stomach, sprawled and dazed. The thing that was chasing her straddled her back.

Now that the two have stopped chasing each other, everypony now had a good look to what the thing looked like. It was a tall, bipedal creature with dark skin, wearing silver and black clothing.

The thing faced the back side of Rainbow Dash and saw her tail. Seeing those rainbow colors, the thing licked its lips in anticipation. “Mmmm, skittles,” the thing said as it grabbed her tail.

As a reaction to her tail being grabbed, the grounded pegasus started to flail her legs. “Hey, hands off!!”

The creature didn’t pay any attention to her and he put her tail in his mouth, chewing it, savoring its flavor.

The rest of the townsfolk look upon the scene in confusion. Spike is the first one to speak up. “Um, what the f-”

“Sppplaa,” the creature spat out, releasing Rainbow Dash’s tail form its mouth. “Elugh, expired.”

“...Just what in the hay is going on?” one of the townsfolk asked. It would seem that no one can provide an appropriate answer for this.

“I want skittles!!” the thing demanded.

By this point, as confused as she is, Twilight has had enough of this guy. “Alright, that’s it!” she shouted. Using her magic, she captured the thing in her magical arora, enveloping it in a purple glow. She lifted him off Rainbow Dash and she brought the thing to her face, noses just inches from each other. “Who do you think you are?” she asked with the authority only rivaled by a cop. “You come through our town, cause a public disturbance, harass, chase, and almost hurt one of my good friends, just what do you have to say for yourself?”

There is a pass of silence between the two.

The thing just let out a quick sigh before it answered. “Honestly,” he started off, “I’m just here so I won’t get fined.”

Another moment of silence passes. No one said a word.

Then, Spike, once again, spoke up. “I blame Goodell.”

Twilight let out a sigh, but still had a distressed look on her face. “Can we go one day, just one day, without something happening? The weather is beautiful, everyone was having a good time, and the next thing we know, this thing is chasing down my friend to eat her tail.”

“Thing?” it questioned.

“Quiet, you,” Spike demanded, pointing a finger at it.

“This town almost always has some mysterious guest or monster coming through. I swear by Celestia-”

“God!” a voice shouted, far off in the distance.

“SHUT UP TEBOW!!” literally everyone in Ponyville shouted back in the direction of the voice.

“-we need some better security measures,” Twilight finished. “But first I got to send you back.”

“Can you send me where a ton of Skittles are?” The thing requested.

The alicorn rolled her eyes and in a flash and a loud pop, the creature was gone, never to be seen in Equestria again.

“Well,” Twilight huffs out, “that should take care of that. I guess I should go speak to Mayor Mare about this ordeal and discuss higher security measures.” She turned to Starlight and Spike, who both appearing to try and process the whole ordeal that occurred moments ago. “Why don’t you two help out Rainbow Dash. She probably could use some assistance.” The duo nodded and go to the aid of the rainbow pegasus.

They help her up and she has a little bit of trouble staying on her hooves. To keep her balance, Rainbow leaned on Starlight for support.

“You okay there?” Starlight asked.

“I think so,” Rainbow responded. “Just...confused and wobbly.”

“Here, let’s get you back to the castle. Spike and I will fix you some tea. That’ll make you feel better.” As Spike, Starlight and Rainbow Dash walk back to the castle, a single thought runs across the little drake’s mind.

“What the heck is a skittle?”
