> A Mare, A Muffin, and a Time Lord > by Creativa-Artly01 > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > Chapter 1 > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- It's a beautiful spring day in Ponyville. The birds are singing and the sun is shining and there's even a rainbow in the sky. What could be better? Derpy's on her way to go meet up with Time Turner. The two are going to a movie together this afternoon. First, however, Derpy has to stop by Sugar Cube Corner first for her favorite treat: muffins. She never goes anywhere without them. At Sugar Cube Corner, Derpy gets her muffins from Pinkie Pie, pays, then heads for the theater. There, she'll meet up with Time Turner. As she is on her way to the theater, she eats one or two of her twelve dozen muffins. About fifteen minutes later, she arrives and is greeted by Time Turner. "It took you long enough," he chuckles. They then purchase their tickets and go inside, muffins in hoof and all. As they watch the movie, Derpy snacks away on her muffins and so does Time Turner. They always gladly share muffins whenever she gets them. It's their silly little way to simply say 'I care about you'. They enjoy the movie with both smiles and crumbs upon their faces. The movie is a new Ponyville western drama of an old Ponyville western drama called "Away in Lil Appleloosa". It's one of the Doctor's personal favorites. He remembers watching the original version of it as a little colt growing up on Ponifray. Derpy puts her hoof on his and snuggles her head upon his shoulder as they watch the movie. Time Turner just smiles. He's glad Derpy is happy just to be with him. > Chapter 2 > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- After leaving the theater that afternoon, the two return hoof in hoof to Time Turner's lab where they work on his newest invention together. Derpy's glad that he's finally letting her help him on his inventions and experiments a little bit more. She's glad he's beginning to trust her and not just focus on her clutsy exterior. Inside, she has a heart of gold and it's clear as day to her that he can see that and she can see, that clear as day, he has two hearts to love her four times as much with. Once they're done at the lab for the day, the two head out for a game of bowling at the Ponyville Bowlerama. The two have a marvelous time even if he does beat her at 200 to 25. She enjoyed bowling with him just the same. Once they're done bowling, they go for a stroll that ends at the Ponyville Fountain and gardens. There, he proposes to her and she accepts. A few days later, they start planning the wedding. The two couldn't be any more excited. They're about to spend the rest of their lives together and they couldn't ask for it to be any other way. The one stipulation: along with the cake, there has to be muffins at the reception, to which Turner happily agrees. He also knows who he wants as his best stallions and she knows exactly who she wants as her bridesmaids and maid of honor as well. Now, all they have to do is get what they want from their heads onto paper and get these wedding plans rolling. > Chapter 3 > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- A few months later, it's finally the day of the wedding. Derpy happily gets into her stunning wedding dress and veil. A few hours later, she walks down the aisle and she and Doctor Whooves are wed. The two then head out on their four month long honeymoon. The two couldn't be happier. They're on their way to Manechester. They can't wait! A few days later, the two touch down in Manechester and hop off and rent a buggy that then takes them to their hotel. Once at the hotel, the two hop out of the buggy and go check in. Once they're checked in, they get their door keys and put their stuff in their room on the fifth floor of the hotel. Once their stuff is in their room, Doctor Whooves grabs some bits and gems and then they head off to do some tourism and some shopping and lunch. For lunch, the two eat at the Bloomington, one of the biggest restaurants in Manechester. As Doctor Whooves enjoys a nice hayseed steak, Derpy is perfectly content with a daisy salad with muffin crumbles sprinkled throughout. Once they finish their food, the two begin to look around the shops as well as ride the Ferris wheel. They also check out Big Ben. As they walk, Derpy places her head on his shoulder. He just smiles. He's so glad to have her as his wife. He couldn't ask for any pony better. > Chapter 4 > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Four months later, Derpy and Doctor Whooves's plane touches back down in Canterlot. The two are glad to be home. Once they arrive back at his lab, there to greet him are the rest of the Time Lord ponies with smiles on their faces. "Welcome home!" They all say in unison. Doctor Whooves just smiles. He and Derpy then talk with his friends for hours, telling them all about their honey moon. After a few hours, the rest of the ponies leave and Doctor Whooves and Derpy are left alone once again. As soon as Derpy sees that everypony is gone, she goes over and tells Doctor Whooves something important that will change the course of their lives forever. "Honey," says Derpy, "I'm in foal, I'm pregnant." A smile of pride and joy appears on the Doctor's face. He can't wait to be a father. This truly is the best news he's ever received. In the following weeks, the two put together a nursery. It's a simple nursery with pale yellow walls and gray accents. There are toys placed in a stark white crib and on a stark white rocking chair. There's a simple rug under the rocking chair and plenty of diapers and bottles on a shelf in the corner. Everything is just right. Now, all they have to do is wait a year for the foal to finally be born. > Chapter 5 > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Seven and a half months later, Derpy gives birth to a healthy little unicorn filly whom she names Dinky. A few hours later, Fluttershy gives birth to a little chaotic earth pony filly hybrid whom she names Screwball. Derpy can't help but smile. She's so happy to be a mother. It's her dream come true, well, aside from opening a muffin shop that is. "She looks like her mommy," says Time Turner with a smile. "Yeah," replies Derpy. "We're so lucky, you know that?" "She has your eyes," adds Time Turner. "That's just genetic, I kind of expected she'd have off skew eyes," replies Derpy with a smile. Two days later, Derpy and little Dinky come home from the hospital. Once she's home, Derpy goes straight for the muffins just like she always does. Time Turner just shakes his head as he goes and puts Dinky in her crib. "If it's one thing Derpy's always thinking about, it's muffins," he sighs to himself as he places Dinky in her crib. He then sings her a little lullaby. "Imagine a galaxy far away, where ponies fix time and save the universe, a place where ponies are all scientific geniuses, a place where there's peace balanced by loss and hurt. Nothing is ever truly perfect. Don't expect it to be, unless it's the love we have for you, in that case, it's perfect as perfect can be. Unless it's the love we have for you, in that case, it's perfect as perfect can be." He then, seeing that she's asleep, leaves the room and heads off to his lab downstairs to do some research on something Pinn had asked him about the day prior. After all, he may be a father now, but he is a time lord pony first and foremost. That's one thing that will never change. > Chapter 6 > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- The next day, Derpy takes little Dinky with her to the market to pick up some stuff including diapers, bottles, wipes, baking soda, baking powder, and walnuts. While picking up her stuff at the store, Derpy runs into Fluttershy and a baby Screwball, who are doing some shopping as well. "It's nice to see you," says Fluttershy with a smile. As she's looking away, Screwball poofs herself a bottle of chocolate milk which makes Derpy giggle. Fluttershy then looks down at her daughter and a smile appears on her face and she begins to laugh as well. "Motherhood, sure is fun, huh?" says Derpy. "Moreso tiring, but I enjoy it," replies Fluttershy. The two then go their separate ways in the store. Within about fifteen minutes, Derpy finishes getting her groceries and checking out. She then returns home to find her mother sitting there waiting, which surprises her. "Mom, what are you doing here?" asks Derpy. "I came to see my granddaughter," replies her mother, Dolleen. Derpy hands the sleeping infant to her mother and then goes off to put up the groceries. She's glad her mother is in town, she just wishes she would have called first. After awhile of cuddling her granddaughter, Dolleen walks over and puts Dinky in the crib. She then sits back down and begins to talk with Derpy. "So," she says, "how do you enjoy being a mother to a daughter of your own?" "I enjoy it, little Dinky is such a quiet baby," replies Derpy with a smile. "How are you and Arthur doing? I know you've been dating him for awhile now." "We're doing fine, thanks for your concern, though," replies Dolleen. "Arthur is so nice to me, unlike your father." "Yeah, dad wasn't nice to either of us," replies Derpy. The two continue to talk for a few more hours over dinner. Derpy is glad her mother came for a visit. She's glad to have her mother as part of her daughter's life. > Chapter 7 > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Five years later, it's a beautiful day outside as Derpy and Doctor Whooves celebrate Dinky's fifth birthday. They sing her happy birthday and give her birthday muffins with five candles in them. Dinky then happily blows them out with a smile on her face. She is then showered in presents by her parents and her grandmother and grandfather in law, Arthur. Dinky opens the first present and grins as she pulls out a snuggle blanket that is covered in muffin shaped patches. She smiles as she hugs it then hugs her mother. She then opens the second one, a gift from her father. It's a magic powered music box. She hugs him and thanks him. She then puts her ear up to the box and listens for a second before moving on to the final gift, the one from her grandmother. She opens the gift and pulls out an old pony doll with a light grey coat and blond mane on it, only three strands of the mane left. "It was your mother's when she was little," says Dolleen with a smile. "Thanks, grandma!" replies Dinky as she gives Dolleen a great big hug. Derpy just smiles as she and Doctor Whooves come in and create a great big family hug. Dinky is so glad she has such a supportive family. She'd never want it any other way. > Chapter 8 > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- The next day, Derpy takes Dinky to her first day of preschool. She gives her daughter a hug and gives her some advice before leaving her. "My little Dinks, remember, be proud of your walleyes. I'm proud of mine. Stand up for yourself. Shrug it off if anyone deponinizes you. Have a good day!" "I will mom," says Dinky as she hugs her mother. Her mother smiles as she walks out the door. Once she's out the door, Derpy takes to the sky in flight for a Weak Flyers meeting. At the meeting, she sits down and begins to share her feelings with everypony else there: Fluttershy, Flitter, Scootaloo. Once she's done talking, Flitter puts her input before Fluttershy begins talking. The meeting continues for another hour and once it concludes, the entire group goes out to lunch and ice cream together. Meanwhile, at the lab, Doctor Whooves is working on one of his new inventions with his friend and former mentor, Pinn. They work on it for around four hours before finally parting ways. Doctor Whooves returns home to Derpy, who, at this point, has returned home along with Dinky. "Hey honey, hey Dinky," says the Doctor as he kisses them on the foreheads before going up to bed for the night. The two smile before turning back to watching Marepunzel on TV. It's just a calm and quiet night and they'd have it no other way. > Chapter 9 > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- A few months later, Derpy goes to the doctor for her annual visit where she gets some surprising news. "Mrs. Derpy," says the doctor to her, "you are with foal." Derpy lets out a happy squeal. She can't wait to get home and tell Time Turner and Dinky. About an hour later, she returns home and tells them the good news. "Doc, Dinky," she says, "I'm with foal. We're going to have a new family member soon." "Cool!" exclaims Dinky with a grin. "I'm so proud of you, honey," says Doctor Hooves as he comes over and kisses her on the forehead. The three then happily sit down to lunch together before going off to the movie theater to enjoy a movie together for the afternoon. Derpy smiles as she lays her head on the Doctor's in the theater. She's so glad that their family is continuing to expand. She's so glad everything is perfect. Deep down inside though, she hopes this baby won't turn out cross-eyed like herself and Dinky but have normal eyes like its father for once. A few hours later, the three exit the movie and go off to the cafe where they enjoy dinner as a family. As she eats, Derpy can't help but think about the little one she is currently carrying in her belly. It's the only thing on her mind. She can't wait to be a mother again, but at the same time, she is extremely nervous. Some things truly never change. > Chapter 10 > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Twelve months later, Derpy gives birth to a healthy little pegasus colt with walleyes, a tan coat, and a brown mane and tail. "What should we name him?" Derpy asks Dinky and Doctor Whooves. "Tick Tock, perhaps?" suggests Doctor Whooves. "Clocky," says Dinky with a giggle and a smile. "How about something not clock related or time-related?" Derpy finally pipes up. "Okay, how about my father's name? Brandy." says Doctor Hooves. "I like that, Brandy it is," replies Derpy with a smile. She then begins to rock the crying foal in her hooves and begins to sing him the lullaby that she used to sing to Dinky when she was first born. Doctor Whooves and Dinky then leave the room and he takes her off to school before leaving for the lab to meet up with the rest of the time ponies to handle a certain situation. Derpy, in the meantime, is glad to have some time alone to herself with the newest member of the family. > Chapter 11 > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- A few days later, Derpy, Dinky, Doctor Whooves, and Brandy all go off to the beach for the day together as a family. Doctor Whooves is glad he gets to have this time with his family since he's been so busy lately. While at the beach, Derpy and the children happily play in the water, while Doctor Whooves watches from the shore with a smile on my face. After a while of playing in the sand and water, Derpy, Dinky, and Brandy come out of the water and enjoy a nice lunch of daisy sandwiches on the shore alongside Doctor Whooves. After lunch finishes, the four go out for ice cream and then head home. Back at the house, Derpy goes and takes a shower before going into the kitchen to make a fresh batch of muffins. Doctor Whooves smiles as he watches her bake. He has always admired her cooking talents and been impressed by her cooking talents. He considers himself the luckiest stallion in the world. He really and truly does. After an hour, Derpy pulls a fresh batch of muffins out of the oven and puts the second batch in to start baking. She does this until she finishes up all three of the batters she made: the chocolate chip one, the blueberry one, and the lemon surprise batter. After five hours, all the muffins are done and she puts them in a basket on a nice little red and white cloth. She and her family then each grab one and sit down and enjoy them around the table alongside a nice tall glass of milk. Derpy is the happiest she's ever been because in a few months she will be opening her own muffin store called Doc and Derpy's Muffin Shop. She is very, very excited. A few months later, Derpy begins work on renovating the building that is soon to become her store with the help of Doctor Whooves while Twilight babysits Dinky and Brandy for her. After five months of renovation, the store finally opens and her muffins sell off the shelves faster than she can make new ones. After the first day, Derpy agrees to hire three more bakers and two counter workers for the shop. A few days later, the five new employees start work. The two counter workers, Blitz and Anice package and sell the muffins while Derpy and the three other bakers: June, July, and Bran Muffin bake up batches and batches of muffins of all sorts of flavors from lemon surprise to chocolate chip to even strawberry eve muffins. Derpy can't help but smile. All her dreams are coming true. She honestly can't believe it. She has all she's ever wanted: a husband, children, and now her own muffin bakery. What more could she ever want out of life? Well, not much. That's for sure. > Chapter 12 > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Four weeks later, Derpy's muffin store finally opens. As it's Derpy, she names the muffin shop: Derpy and Doc's Muffin Palace. The news soon gets around Ponyville and soon everypony in town floods to the store. It's filled up by noon and the muffins go fast. "Who knew ponies loved my baking this much?" giggles Derpy. "I did," responds Doctor Whooves as he gives her a kiss on the cheek before getting back to bagging muffins for the customers. A few minutes later, Derpy pops several more trays of muffins into the oven to bake. Two hours later, they pop out fresh and hop and Derpy puts them on the shelves. By the end of the first day, the two sell out of all the muffins. Once they close up shop for the night, Derpy spends some time in the back working on new flavors. Doc, on the other hand, goes and picks up the children from Derpy's mother and takes them home. Back at home, Doc and the foals sit down on the couch and watch a movie together. "Where's mom?" asks Dinky curiously. "She's still at the muffin shop," responds Doc. "How long do you think she'll be there?" Dinky then asks. "I don't know. Could be three hours, five hours, maybe seven, eight, or nine," responds Doctor Whooves. He then picks up the remote and turns off the TV then walks over and embraces Dinky in his hooves and holds her close to him. Seven and a half hours later, Derpy returns home but goes right up to bed, not even recognizing or realizing that Doc and the children are there. A few minutes later, Doctor Whooves tucks in the children and goes in and plops down beside Derpy. "Derpy, honey," said Doctor Whooves, "you need to spend more time with your family. Dinky missed you tonight. You missed family movie night and that hurt her feelings." "And I'm really sorry for that, I just had to perfect some new recipes," responds Derpy. "I'll do better next time. I promise. For Dinky." She then turns over and falls fast asleep. Doc then turns off the light and falls asleep himself. He just hopes she sticks to her word and spends more time with their children.
