> A Very ’Clucky’ Nightmare Night > by The wandering commenter > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > A not so spooky adventure > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- "You ready up there, Scoots?" a cyan pegasus pony called upstairs. "Almost ready, Dash. I just need to get my beak on." responded an orange pegasus pony, almost fully costumed. Tonight is going to be the best Nightmare Night ever! I get to spend it with the best sister ever, Scootaloo thought to herself as she stared in the mirror. The orange pony was wearing a yellow chick suit and now had a yellow plastic beak obscuring her nose. You know, when Apple Bloom joked about me and Rainbow Dash dressing up like this, I’ll bet that she never thought that we would actually do it. Actually though, this costume feels very nice. I wonder if this will ’ruffle her feathers’ she snickered to herself. Scootaloo fluttered downstairs and met her big sister, who was dressed in a hen costume. "Before we head out Scoots, why these costumes?" Rainbow inquired. "Well, you remember that water balloon duel with Apple Bloom and Applejack?" "Oh yeah! I remember that! You distracted them by throwing water balloons behind cover while I was getting ready to drop a tub full of water balloons on them! " Rainbow reminisced. "Well, I was hiding behind the chicken coop, and, after we won the duel, Apple Bloom jokingly suggested that maybe our costumes for Nightmare Night should be chickens. And I thought I could shock her by actually dressing up like chickens," Scootaloo explained. "Well, ok. So, you already to go, Chickyloo?" Rainbow Dash asked in a playful way. "Only if you are, Henbow Dash," Scootaloo responded. "Just a moment, you two!" came a mint green Pegasus. "I need to get a picture of you two ’chickens’!" "Aww, mom, you have plenty of pictures of me and Dash doing stuff. You still have the pictures of the time me and Dash had that water balloon duel with Apple Bloom and Applejack!" "I know, but I have no pictures of you dressed in chicken suits. Now smile for mommy, please?" "Okay, Mrs. Wind Dancer." After the picture was taken, Wind Dancer, unbeknownst to either of the two Nightmare Night chickens, slipped some candy in their bags. "Be safe out there, you two!" Wind Dancer told them as they were walking out the door. "We will!", they said in unison. As they were walking out, they were both scared by a red dragon that popped out of the bushes as they were walking away. "Raawr!" roared the red dragon as Rainbow Dash immediately grabbed Scootaloo’s hoof and kept her close. She then flared her wings up to fly both of them away. Scootaloo screamed and held on to Rainbow Dash as she thought they were both about to take off. She even started to flutter her wings in synchronism with Rainbow Dash. Then, the dragon started to laugh. He pulled off his costumed head and showed that he was none other then a red pony named Land Rusher, Scootaloo’s father. "I got you guys good, didn’t I?", asked Land Rusher. "Yep! That was a good one, dad!" a smiling Scootaloo said. "Well, you guys better start going, time and candy are going to waste here! Hey, Rainbow Dash, bring my little chick back to the coop safely, okay?" he stated while giving her daughter a gentle noogie. "Don’t worry, your daughter is in safe hooves," a sincere, caring Rainbow Dash responded. "I know; I just wanted to remind you," said Land Rusher. "You two had better get going, or the only thing you two will get from Nightmare Night are the eggs that you two will be laying." "What about you, dad?" Scootaloo questioned. "I’ve got kids to scare, and they try to get free candy. See you two soon," Land Rusher said while putting back on his costumed head. With that, Scootaloo and Rainbow Dash took off. They visited many houses and received a lot of candy before going to the street carnival and meeting a pink pony who would change their Nightmare Night from good to the best in Ponyville history. "Hi, you two! I love your costumes! Bawk!" She stuck her tongue out and did a little chicken dance. Nothing too out of the ordinary from that random pony, but still weird to see her doing a chicken dance in a spider costume Rainbow Dash thought. "Want to try to win a lot of candy? Only four bits!" "What do we have to do?" asked Rainbow. "All you two have to do is get points by throwing pies at each other! You both get five pies to throw at each other from at least five body lengths away. Every point you get is equal to one piece of candy that you get! You get one point for pieing your partner in the hooves, ten points for their body and fifty if you can get them in the face! If both of you can pie your partner by the ears, you will get five-hundred points! However, I’ll warn you that no pony duo in Ponyville history has ever pulled that off." "That sounds like a challenge to us," said Scootaloo and Rainbow Dash in unison. Rainbow dash paid the excited pink pony and walked to the pie throwing arena. "Okay now, you two—take your breaks off and get ready to throw!" stated Pinkie Pie, who gave them both five whipped cream pies to throw at each other. "You ready to get messy, Chickyloo?" "Only if you are ready, Henbow Dash!" Pinkie Pie blew her whistle, marking the start of the match. Scootaloo was the first to throw, and hit her sister’s front hooves, earning one point. Rainbow Dash threw her first pie and hit her sister right in the front part of her chest getting them ten points. The next pie was Scootaloo’s pie and hit her sister right-in-wing, getting them another ten points. Rainbow Dash then did her major part of the challenge set by Pinkie and tagged Chickyloo’s ear. "Oh, wow! That was an amazing throw, Rainbow!" Pinkie Pie remarked. "Come on, Scootaloo, you can do it! We are so close to getting five hundred points!" Rainbow Dash cheered on her pie throwing teammate and sister. Scootaloo’s next pie was right on Rainbow’s face, scoring them fifty points. Rainbow Dash threw another one that barely missed Scootaloo. The fourth throw was the one that made history. As Scootaloo threw the pie, it hit Rainbow Dash by the ears. Pinkie Pie then came in and said "You can both stop now! You two have just made Ponyville history! Congratulations, you two! You have won five hundred and seventy one pieces of candy!" The two had their picture taken and got a massive bag of candy to take with them. "Good job, squirt!" Rainbow Dash complemented and gave her sister a hug. After that was done, they needed a way to get the candy to Scootaloo’s house. Rainbow Dash was busy getting a cloud for them to take the candy in. While she was doing that, Apple Bloom in a clown costume and Sweetie Belle in a Princess Dress, complete with fake wings, came up to her. "Hey, Scootaloo!" squeaked out Sweetie Belle. "Wow! How did you get that much candy?" she asked. "And, um, ya did know that I was joking about the chicken suits, right?" "Me and Dash won the big Pie game from Pinkie Pie," Scootaloo stated with pride. The duo of Cutie-Mark Crusaders gasped. "You mean you both hit each others ears with pie?" "Yep!" Scootaloo stated with pride. "That’s amazing!" Sweetie Belle congratulated. "You two are awesome!" complemented Apple Bloom. As they were having there conversation Rainbow Dash fluttered down with a cloud in her hooves. "Alright kid, help me get this candy on the cloud," Rainbow Dash requested. "Well, I got to go, see you guys soon!" Scoots said, parting with her best friends. "Bye, you two, and Happy Nightmare Night!" the two said in unison. After Rainbow Dash and Scootaloo placed the candy bag on the cloud, Scootaloo remarked at how sleepy she was feeling. Rainbow Dash got an idea in her head: an impromptu sleepover. Rainbow Dash rushed back to the house of Scootaloo’s parents, and she got the okay for a sleepover at Dash’s place. Then, after eating some of their candy hoard, Scootaloo passed out while on Rainbow Dash’s couch. Rainbow Dash then got her to a guest bedroom and tucked her in. Before going to sleep herself, she soothingly whispered into Scootaloo’s ear "Goodnight, my little chick." > Nightmare Night bonus > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Look, sister—a bowl full of candy!" said a dark blue alicorn in a pink tutu. "Strangely, it’s unguarded" said a white alicorn in a chicken suit. As they approached the candy bowl they saw a strange note which read Warning, this candy bowl is protected by a dragon! Take the candy at your own peril! The blue alicorn approached the candy bowl and took two pieces of candy, foolishly ignoring the warning. Just then, a massive red dragon popped out of the bushes and attacked the duo with his sticky-string breath! "Let’s get out of here, Luna!" shouted the chicken princess alicorn. "I’m right behind you, Celestia!" responded Luna, the ballerina princess. After the escape, they retreated into the streets of Ponyville. In the background, there were giggles of delight and the sounds of pies being thrown in the distance. "Uck, I’m going to need a—what do you call it—a spa day? Sister?" asked Luna, pulling at some of the sticky sting in her mane. Celestia giggled. "Yes sister, tomorrow we will have a spa day" responded Celestia. Just then, an earth-pony filly in a clown costume and a unicorn filly in a Princess Dress walked up, both cemented with sticky string. "You two went to Scoot—wait, princesses‽ Why are you here and why are you wearing that?" asked the filly clothed in a clown costume. "We may have lost a bet to Cadence and Twilight" Luna responded sheepishly. "Oh. Well, as long as you are here, may I ask you for a favor? It’s about this snowball fight that Twilight does with us every year" inquired the unicorn filly. Back at the dragon’s lair, the full reality of what the dragon did set in. "I sprayed Luna and Celestia with sticky-string" said the dragon, to himself. He then ran off to apologize to the two sisters. "…and that’s how you do the silent-contact spell" Luna explained. "Thanks, Luna!" exclaimed the unicorn filly. "Princesses!" screamed a running dragon. He stopped running and started apologizing. "I’m so sorry for spraying you highnesses with sticky string! Please don’t punish me!" he begged. "Citizen, it’s alright. It’s just a part of the fun" Celestia said while offering a comforting wing. "Thank you! You’re too kind, your majesties" he stated. "May I ask just one question before I go?" he pondered, trembling in place. "What is it?" Luna responded. "Why are you two wearing those costumes?"
